• 0:54
Speaker 3: I worked around the house Good and you're feeling good about that At the time.
• 0:58
Speaker 1: Yes, At the time, not any longer.
• 1:01
  Speaker 1: No, yeah, mr.
• 1:04
Speaker 2: Mars, I happened to spend the weekend with my mother helping her out.
• 1:08
  Speaker 2: Well, that's good.
• 1:09
Speaker 2: How old is your mother?
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: 96.
• 1:11
  Speaker 1: 96.
• 1:12
Speaker 1: There's a lot of help to be had there.
• 1:15
Speaker 2: Plenty to go around if you need something to do, no.
• 1:17
  Speaker 3: I don't, you know what.
• 1:18
Speaker 3: Let's all hope that we can be 96.
• 1:21
Speaker 1: No, you can wish that I don't care to.
• 1:25
Speaker 1: But thank you, 196.
• 1:27
  Speaker 1: 196.
• 1:29
  Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: So here's the story of the week.
• 1:31
Speaker 1: That svelte body of yours, is that what you were referring?
• 1:34
Speaker 1: to yeah that's what I was referring to, Our story of the week.
• 1:37
Speaker 1: Let me preface this by saying you know, 99% of car dealers are good, honest, hardworking people that do the right thing.
• 1:51
Speaker 1: But then every once in a while you run across one, and it doesn't necessarily have an indictment of the entire dealership, but you got that one person in there that's probably been with you for a few years and you're thinking, oh, they're on the up and up.
• 2:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I got turned away from that first dealer I went to to buy my Buick is because of the salesman.
• 2:12
Speaker 3: It was just a complete failure, right.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: A pair of Florida dealerships face separate lawsuits for allegedly misrepresenting used vehicles as new I read that article.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: I read that In one case customer, sean Crowley, claims son Toyota in holiday, oddly enough sold him a 2024 Land Cruiser.
• 2:33
  Speaker 1: They're not cheap.
• 2:34
Speaker 1: In February of this year, as new, with only 10 quote-unquote factory miles.
• 2:40
Speaker 1: Less than two days later, however, a service light went on signaling the need for an oil change.
• 2:46
Speaker 1: When Crowley looked at the dashboard he discovered an odometer reading of almost 5,000 miles, the complaint said.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: Shocked, as the complaint put it, he called Sun Toyota, was instructed to bring the Land Cruiser back for servicing and was told the store would work something out regarding the excess mileage.
• 3:07
Speaker 1: The store claimed there had been a typo on the paperwork.
• 3:12
Speaker 1: Crowley's asking for damages for violations of the Federal Odometer Act and Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, as well as for fraud, negligent misrepresentation, breach of warranty and fraudulent inducement.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: Ow In the second case.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: I wonder who's going to win.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: That they had to know that vehicle was that way.
• 3:34
Speaker 3: Well, yes, you would think Because you've got a floor plan and you take inventory.
• 3:37
Speaker 1: I understand, but this could have been one of those that had been done through a dealer trade.
• 3:43
Speaker 1: Nobody did the inspection on it when it got to the dealership.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: I'm just saying yeah, there's all sorts of things that you don't know in this story.
• 3:54
Speaker 2: But he bought this car.
• 3:55
Speaker 2: That probably cost him 80 plus.
• 3:57
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he didn't look at the odometer for two days.
• 4:01
Speaker 2: Of course it could be buried.
• 4:03
Speaker 2: There's some of them.
• 4:04
Speaker 2: One I just drove.
• 4:06
Speaker 2: You've got to go down through three screens to find all the stuff you want the Italian vehicle you had.
• 4:11
  Speaker 3: we had to.
• 4:12
Speaker 2: Three of us had to work it.
• 4:13
Speaker 2: That's what seems strange to me is it took him two days to look at the odometer.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: Well, he went and got himself an attorney.
• 4:22
Speaker 1: The attorney looked at the odometer Story number two Okay, Customer Lily Altheiser Benson alleges Jerry Ulm, a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Tampa, sold her a 24 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe as new in November of last year, despite the fact it was previously sold and titled to a leasing company.
• 4:47
Speaker 1: A reproduction of the original factory window sticker was affixed to the Wrangler with a sticker price of $78,875.
• 4:56
Speaker 1: Quote further reinforcing the representation that the vehicle was new, the complaint said, and the retail installment sales contract described it as new.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: Her lawyer, Joshua Fagan of Hollywood, Florida, told Automotive News the mileage wasn't the issue.
• 5:13
Speaker 1: The title was withheld from examination to prevent the consumer from seeing that the vehicle was previously titled to another owner.
• 5:21
Speaker 1: The act of withholding the title and making mileage disclosures on documents other than the title itself was intent to defraud is a violation of the Odometer Act.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: Another one that they should have.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: I guess the point of the stories of the week this week is I know I'm guilty of it too you go in and you buy something and it's got about 15 pages of legalese, yeah, okay, and you can't read it most of it.
• 5:53
Speaker 3: Well, you can read it, but you don't really understand yes, that's it.
• 5:57
Speaker 1: my suggestion is give me 24 hours, take your document, pay an attorney to go over the document and look for those legal things in there that you or I don't speak or know or have knowledge of.
• 6:14
Speaker 1: That would be my suggestion.
• 6:16
Speaker 1: Do we do that?
• 6:18
Speaker 2: No, I want it and I want it now.
• 6:20
Speaker 3: But nowadays the laws have been on the consumer side.
• 6:24
Speaker 3: But they can't put all that misleading jargon in that contract.
• 6:28
Speaker 3: They have to be up front and tell you about.
• 6:30
Speaker 3: This is what you're signing.
• 6:31
Speaker 3: This is what it is they're supposed to be supposed to, but you explaining what's in that contract, versus me explaining what's in the contract and don explain.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: There's three different versions, so you really don't know, I tell him something and he tells you and it's completely different what I told him.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: But I wouldn't tell him at all.
• 6:43
  Speaker 1: I really don't know.
• 6:44
Speaker 1: I tell him something and he tells you and it's completely different what I told him.
• 6:46
Speaker 3: But I wouldn't tell him at all.
• 6:47
Speaker 1: No, no, no, I wouldn't tell him at all.
• 6:48
Speaker 2: I will say my wife used to be a legal assistant and she's not a lawyer by any means, she never would claim to be.
• 6:54
Speaker 2: But she won't sign anything without reading it and at least understanding as much as she can out of it.
• 7:00
  Speaker 2: That's probably a good practice.
• 7:06
Speaker 2: It's probably saved you a bunch of Well it has.
• 7:07
Speaker 2: But it's also very irritating that she spends 30 minutes reading something and I'm ready to go.
• 7:08
Speaker 2: I'm ready to go, you know, but it's that you and everybody else.
• 7:11
  Speaker 2: It gets.
• 7:13
Speaker 1: Ford Motor Company's 89 recalls so far this year are more than the next five manufacturers combined.
• 7:21
Speaker 1: I read that one too, and have already set a full year record for an individual automaker.
• 7:26
Speaker 1: According to data from NHTSA, general Motors previously held the record with 77 callbacks in the entire year of 2014, amid the ignition switch scandal.
• 7:37
  Speaker 1: Remember that thing.
• 7:38
Speaker 3: So when they do the Ford built tough, they can also say we're number one.
• 7:41
Speaker 3: That's it In recalls.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: In a statement, Ford's spokesperson said the company was taking a more proactive approach in recalls.
• 7:48
Speaker 1: You know, I remember a quote from Farley, the CEO of Ford, and he said that very same thing about six, nine months ago.
• 7:59
  Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
• 8:00
Speaker 1: Ford's latest recall affects 850,000 vehicles in the US because of a potential low-pressure fuel pump failure which could cause an engine stall.
• 8:10
Speaker 1: Faulty fuel pump can reduce fuel flow from the tank to the engine, causing an engine stall and increasing the risk of a crash.
• 8:16
Speaker 1: According to NHTSA, finia Incorporated was identified as the supplier of the fuel pumps.
• 8:22
Speaker 1: Failures are more likely when fuel levels are low or In hot weather.

Speaker 1: Ford said it's still developing a remedy.
• 8:51
  Speaker 1: How about a?
• 8:52
Speaker 3: new fuel pump, ding Exactly Now, is this a pump in the tank?
• 8:56
  Speaker 3: Is it a frame-mounted pressurized?
• 8:59
Speaker 3: Is it up near the?
• 9:00
Speaker 3: I mean I don't know but my guess is, it's probably in the tank.
• 9:03
Speaker 3: But if it's in the tank, obviously it's going to take time to repair that.
• 9:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're going to have to drop the tank, oh my God.
• 9:11
Speaker 3: And if they're going back to 21, holy smokes.
• 9:14
Speaker 1: Okay, so let's continue on with Ford, shall we?
• 9:16
Speaker 1: Rearview camera image may not display, and, I think, everything that they made from 2018 to 2024, including Broncos, Edge, Escape, Expedition Explorer.
• 9:30
Speaker 1: The list goes on and on.
• 9:33
Speaker 3: I'm not going to bore everybody with that, but it's a lot.
• 9:34
Speaker 1: We need a good old airbag recall, what we need is a great big paddle and a big spanking Airbags.
• 9:41
Speaker 1: May deploy with excessive force in the Ford Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator, 2025.
• 9:46
Speaker 1: Front brake jounce hose may contact tire and leak Ford F-150 Lightning battery electric 2025.

  Speaker 2: I'm going $19,000.
• 15:56
  Speaker 2: Height says $31,000.
• 15:58
Speaker 2: Okay, how about $12,443?
• 16:00
Speaker 1: The point of the matter is there, you can buy that for $12,000.
• 16:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, what else can you buy?
• 16:06
Speaker 1: Maybe something like this I'm sorry.
• 16:14
  Speaker 3: A 2017.
• 16:15
  Speaker 1: Mercedes buy maybe something like this a 19 I'm sorry, a 2017 mercedes-benz c300.
• 16:17
Speaker 1: Wasn't this on a couple weeks ago?
• 16:18
Speaker 1: No, it wasn't, it was a different one.
• 16:19
  Speaker 1: This is a 17 benz c300.
• 16:20
  Speaker 1: It's a convertible.
• 16:20
Speaker 1: It's a nice looking car that you'd want to have the wife drop off the kid at the daycare in that.
• 16:27
Speaker 1: It should look really good 46.
• 16:30
  Speaker 1: 46.
• 16:30
  Speaker 1: 46.
• 16:31
Speaker 1: Okay, heisman says 45.
• 16:34
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 16:35
Speaker 2: What do you say?
• 16:35
Speaker 2: I say probably your girlfriend would look better than your wife, but I would go for about 50 on that one.
• 16:40
  Speaker 2: How about 15?
• 16:42
  Speaker 2: 50.
• 16:42
  Speaker 2: 7.
• 16:44
  Speaker 3: 75.
• 16:44
Speaker 3: You get the bends after buying that one, you get the bends.
• 16:48
Speaker 1: That's a different kind of bends.
• 16:49
Speaker 3: That's a different kind of bends.
• 16:53
Speaker 2: Man George was a $49.99, so we were all way off that.
• 16:57
Speaker 3: Okay, then you got this one.
• 16:59
Speaker 2: Remember that was the first one that I wanted to play the last one, so the last one's the first one and the first one's the last one 2006 Dodge Charger.
• 17:07
Speaker 1: Okay, 2006 Dodge Charger.
• 17:09
Speaker 1: I just took it off.
• 17:10
Speaker 1: Hold on who cares there you go.
• 17:12
Speaker 1: Just make it bigger, gotcha.
• 17:15
Speaker 1: Okay, how much 2006?
• 17:18
  Speaker 1: Dodge Charger 18.
• 17:19
  Speaker 1: I'm going to go 11.
• 17:21
  Speaker 1: How about $10,500?
• 17:23
  Speaker 1: There you go.
• 17:25
  Speaker 3: Worth everything.
• 17:25
Speaker 1: And the last car of the day.
• 17:27
Speaker 1: No that wasn't, that was a lot.
• 17:28
  Speaker 1: No.
• 17:28
Speaker 1: Last car of the day.
• 17:28
Speaker 1: No, that wasn't, that was a lot.
• 17:29
  Speaker 1: No, what's up?
• 17:30
  Speaker 1: This one?
• 17:30
Speaker 1: Okay, this is the last one.
• 17:31
  Speaker 1: A 1972 Dodge Charger.
• 17:35
Speaker 1: A 72 Dodge Charger lady in black aftermarket wheels.
• 17:40
Speaker 1: Don't know about the interior.
• 17:42
Speaker 1: It looks like it's a pretty solid, unmolested car, except for the wheels.
• 17:59
Speaker 2: How much do you think that that would go for even the mopar license plate?
• 18:01
  Speaker 2: 16, 16, yeah, really, mopar, I can't spell either.
• 18:03
  Speaker 2: 70, 72.
• 18:03
  Speaker 2: Ours heitzman says 36, george says 10, 5 and I say 22, 26, 250.
• 18:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, for some reason those chop, those chargers are popular more.
• 18:08
Speaker 2: It's weird because the Thunderbird is really just as nice and probably a better driver than some of those, but they don't draw the money.
• 18:16
  Speaker 2: No, they don't.
• 18:18
Speaker 1: Because that one's got the horsepower associated with it.

• 21:57
Speaker 3: Get on out there.
• 21:58
Speaker 3: I went to that one year.
• 21:59
Speaker 3: I think you did, did we all go out there one time at something.
• 22:02
Speaker 1: No, we all didn't, I did, yeah, well that's what's going on.
• 22:04
Speaker 3: You just took the.
• 22:05
Speaker 1: Corvette out there yeah, associated at the time with COTA, Circuit of the Americas and you'd spend a little extra money and get a chance to run the road course at Circuit of the Americas.
• 22:18
Speaker 1: I'll tell you what that was fun.
• 22:20
Speaker 1: You did that in your Corvette, I did, I bet it was.
• 22:23
Speaker 3: There's going to be a lot of things coming up for charity events and donations for the tragedies out on the flood.
• 22:28
Speaker 3: So if you've got a car show and you're doing that, more power to you.
• 22:38
Speaker 1: Just make it legit, make it safe and then donate your money.
• 22:39
Speaker 1: So that'd be good.
• 22:39
Speaker 1: It's all good, it's good in the hood, good, okay.
• 22:41
Speaker 1: Um, I have some stories that I wanted to pass along to you.
• 22:44
Speaker 1: You can tell stories all day.
• 22:46
Speaker 1: I know that's what we do here.
• 22:47
Speaker 1: New electric vehicle registrations fell 5.9% in May from a year earlier the second straight monthly decline, despite factory discounts and tax incentives that brought prices close to parity with gasoline models, which I've said all along it should.
• 23:06
Speaker 1: Why have a car that's got an advantage?
• 23:09
Speaker 1: Pardon me, no, no, go ahead.
• 23:12
Speaker 1: You know, I worry about these hand signals that you all do there behind my back.
• 23:18
Speaker 3: That's why we do them.
• 23:19
  Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
• 23:19
Speaker 1: The 99,000 electric vehicles registered in May represent 7.1% of the US light vehicle market for the month.
• 23:32
Speaker 1: That's down 7.5% in May of 2024, according to S&P Global Mobility.
• 23:39
Speaker 1: The most recent registration numbers show ongoing struggles for battery electric vehicle adoption, even before the $7,500 EV tax incentive expires September the 30th.
• 23:51
Speaker 1: And it gives really a breakdown of all the car sales here Tesla number one 2025 US EV registrations 42,861.
• 24:01
Speaker 1: Now, compared to, you know, a Ford Maverick, that's a lot, but when you compare it to a Ford Expedition, it's not a lot.
• 24:14
Speaker 3: All the times have changed too.
• 24:15
  Speaker 1: Yeah, they have.
• 24:16
Speaker 1: President Trump said July 7th the US would impose a 25% tariff on imports from Japan and South Korea beginning August 1st, as he unveiled the first two of an expected 12 letters to trading partners outlining the new levies they face.
• 24:33
Speaker 1: Expected 12 letters to trading partners outlining the new levies they face.
• 24:37
Speaker 1: Quote if, for any reason, you decide to raise your tariff rates, then whatever the number you choose to raise them by will be added into the 25% recharge.
• 24:45
Speaker 1: According to Mr Trump, he sent those letters to the two Asian countries, which he posted on his Truth Social platform, yep.
• 24:54
Speaker 1: So that war continues on.
• 24:56
Speaker 1: Nhtsa, national Highway Traffic Safety Administration, has opened an investigation into nearly 1.2 million Ram trucks.
• 25:07
Speaker 1: Now, this is just an investigation.
• 25:08
Speaker 1: The Ram trucks are made by automaker Stellantis, their head company, and that all had been repaired following two previous recalls in 2017 and 2018.
• 25:21
  Speaker 1: The investigation covers certain 13 to 18 Ram 1500, 2500, 35, 45, 5500 models with a column-mounted shift lever.
• 25:31
Speaker 1: The agency said Wow, that's retro old school.
• 25:37
Speaker 1: Well, yeah, it is old school and you know people disagree with me, but this shift lever thing doesn't have anything to do with what it used to have to do with when you mechanically put the truck into drive or reverse or whatever.
• 25:56
Speaker 1: Now it's all electronic and so Ram has put will go onto a knob Great, what's wrong with that?
• 26:04
Speaker 1: Takes a great big shifter and all that clunkiness out of there.
• 26:08
  Speaker 1: There's the knob.
• 26:08
Speaker 1: You have a knob in yours, don't you Morris?
• 26:11
Speaker 1: Yes, I do what.
• 26:13
Speaker 2: Yes, I do, and I love it.
• 26:14
Speaker 2: It gives me a lot more room.
• 26:16
Speaker 2: It's easy to reach down.
• 26:17
Speaker 2: You know where you're going.
• 26:17
Speaker 1: And you don't take up the room on the center console with a great big shift knob.
• 26:21
Speaker 3: Absolutely, that never bothered me.
• 26:22
Speaker 3: I like the console shifter, but mine is on the column.
• 26:28
  Speaker 1: I'm driving now, that's fine.
• 26:31
Speaker 3: It took me all of maybe not very long to figure it out.
• 26:34
Speaker 3: It's kind of a little intimidating at first.
• 26:37
Speaker 3: What do you do?
• 26:37
Speaker 3: What do you do?
• 26:38
Speaker 3: Do you push it?
• 26:38
Speaker 3: Do you take your foot off?
• 26:39
Speaker 1: the brake Is it really in park and all that stuff, the EV that I'm currently driving.
• 26:43
Speaker 1: You don't have to do any of that.
• 26:44
Speaker 2: You sit down in the car and you yeah, that's because yeah, you don't have to put it in gear even no, it does it automatically.
• 26:53
Speaker 2: The one I just got out of.
• 26:54
Speaker 2: You put it in gear and it started, but by the same token, speaking of the electronic gear shift on it, you had to go into the touchscreen three screens deep to find the shut, the engine off, and you had to hit two buttons to do that.
• 27:08
Speaker 2: Because it's all electronic, they that.
• 27:14
Speaker 2: Because it's all electronic, they can do that, and engineers being engineers that like to engineer, things.
• 27:15
Speaker 1: They're going to engineer things.
• 27:16
Speaker 1: We're going to have a couple of engineers here joining us shortly.
• 27:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, but they're engineers for rocketry.
• 27:22
Speaker 1: It doesn't make any difference.
• 27:23
  Speaker 1: They're engineers.
• 27:24
Speaker 1: The brain function is a lot different than ours.
• 27:27
  Speaker 2: I agree.
• 27:27
Speaker 2: I mean they've got to be fixing something.
• 27:31
Speaker 2: Okay, now to make you feel really uncomfortable.
• 27:33
Speaker 1: We'll end this segment with this.
• 27:34
Speaker 1: A record 19% of new car buyers in the second quarter committed to a monthly payment of $1,000 or more.
• 27:41
Speaker 1: That share is up from 18% a year prior.
• 27:45
Speaker 1: New car buyers in the second quarter also set a record for highest share of loans, in terms of 84 months or longer.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: Oh my God, roughly 22% of buyers who financed with a loan signed up for that extended term, up from about 18% a year ago.
