- 0:00Job chapter 3 First, let's pray, Dear Lord, please be with us as
- 0:05we read through this chapter and let us have wisdom, insight and
- 0:10to hear your word, hear what you have to say.
- 0:13We ask this in Jesus name, Amen. So it starts out after this.
- 0:19So Job had his just to place the setting.
- 0:23Job had his friends come over and visit him, and they were
- 0:26sitting with him for seven days and seven nights, and nobody
- 0:29said a word because they saw how great his suffering was.
- 0:32That was in chapter 2. So after this, Job opened his
- 0:36mouth and cursed the day of his birth.
- 0:39He said, May the day of my birth perish, and the night that said
- 0:45a boy is conceived that day, may it turn to darkness.
- 0:49May God above not care about it. May no light shine on it.
- 0:53May gloom in utter darkness claim it Once more.
- 0:57May a cloud settle over it. May blackness overwhelm it that
- 1:02night. May thick darkness seize it.
- 1:05May it not be included among the days of the year, nor be entered
- 1:09in any of the months. May that night be barren.
- 1:13May no shout of joy be heard in it.
- 1:16May those who curse days curse that day, those who are ready to
- 1:20rouse Leviathan. May its morning stars become
- 1:24dark. May it wait for daylight in vain
- 1:27and not see the first rays of dawn.
- 1:30For it did not shut the doors of the womb on me to hide trouble
- 1:34from my eyes. Why did I not perish at birth
- 1:37and die as I came from the womb? Why were their knees to receive
- 1:42me in breast that I might be nursed?
- 1:44For now I would be lying down in peace.
- 1:46I would be asleep and at rest with kings and rulers of the
- 1:49earth who built for themselves places now lying in ruins, with
- 1:55Princess who had gold, who filled their houses with silver.
- 1:59Or why was I not hidden away in the ground like a stillborn
- 2:04child, like an infant who never saw the light of day?
- 2:08There the wicked cease from turmoil, and there the weary are
- 2:13at rest. Captives also enjoy their ease.
- 2:18They no longer hear the slave drivers shout.
- 2:21The small and the great are there, and the slaves are freed
- 2:25from their owners. Why is light given to those in
- 2:29misery and life, to the bitter of soul, to those who long for
- 2:35death that does not come, who search for it more than for
- 2:41hidden treasure, who are filled with gladness and rejoice when
- 2:45they reach the grave? Why is life given to a man whose
- 2:50way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?
- 2:54For sighing has become my daily food.
- 2:57My groans pour out like water. What I feared has come upon me.
- 3:03What I dreaded has happened to me.
- 3:05I have no peace, no quietness. I have no rest, but only
- 3:11turmoil. So that's the end of chapter 3.
- 3:16And obviously we know what's happening.
- 3:18But Job doesn't. He is being attacked by the
- 3:21enemy. Could because God allowed it.
- 3:24And so this is this could give us an example of like when we
- 3:28are, when we ever feel like this, when there's just, there's
- 3:31no peace, no quietness, no rest, but only turmoil could very well
- 3:38be an attack from the enemy, attack from Satan.
- 3:42It could be testing us just like this is Job being tested.
- 3:45But we know that because we read the the other chapters, but Job
- 3:49doesn't know this. So this is all coming on him as
- 3:53a surprise. And personally, I experienced
- 3:56that when I started to get closer to Christ.
- 3:59And, and so I know this is real. This is what happened and this
- 4:02is what God showed me. When I I say God showed me, this
- 4:06was the first book that I opened up to when I opened the Bible.
- 4:09And it was during a time of pleading with God, like why is
- 4:12this happening to me? So in my mind, it's like God
- 4:16showed it to me. And whether he did or not is up
- 4:19for debate, but that's what I see it as anyway.
- 4:24I will go through the study, Bible questions and answers, and
- 4:29then I'll just reference some other scripture that came to
- 4:32mind as I was reading through this.
- 4:34So what did it mean for Job to curse the day of his birth?
- 4:39The phrase is a figure of speech, one full of power and
- 4:44poignancy that expresses deeply felt emotions.
- 4:47We might use the phrase I wish I had never been born.
- 4:51Though Job never cursed God in his despair, he seems to have
- 4:55challenged God's sovereign wisdom in permitting his birth.
- 4:59And you know, we see this also in Jeremiah too, like Jeremiah
- 5:0420 verse 18, which I will read later.
- 5:06But Jeremiah kind of had that same thing.
- 5:09He was a prophet that God appointed to do certain things
- 5:14and he, he didn't like his assignment, but Job didn't, he
- 5:19wasn't a prophet. He was just someone who was
- 5:22righteous, who is living by faith and doing all the right
- 5:26things. But again, like I said before,
- 5:30this is my opinion, but it sure seems like, you know, we always
- 5:34try to say, well, why would God do this?
- 5:36And I don't know for sure, so this is just my opinion, but it
- 5:41seems like God's almost trying to show Satan something like
- 5:45look at Job, look at how good Job is.
- 5:47Like, can you not see this? Could you not change your ways?
- 5:51Maybe because we know that God always wants that
- 5:55reconciliation. He's not after the he's not
- 5:58after punishment. He wants reconciliation.
- 6:02He wouldn't have created any anything that with the intention
- 6:07of let whatever I create rebel against me.
- 6:10Like who would really do that? That doesn't seem like God's
- 6:13character. God creates what he creates out
- 6:17of love and out of enjoyment. And so when we see things
- 6:23rebelling against God and people rebelling against God, that
- 6:27wasn't what God was desiring. However, the only way to know
- 6:30true love is if there is a response back to a person like
- 6:37if you, if you love, you know, there is that phrase.
- 6:40And I do think it's not in the Bible, but I do think it's true
- 6:43that if you love something, set it free.
- 6:46And if it returns, then it was meant to be.
- 6:48And if not, it wasn't. So I do see that as, as the way,
- 6:53you know, God almost interacts with us.
- 6:56It's like he loves us, He'll always love us, but he lets us
- 7:00choose. Do we love him back?
- 7:02And we show him how we love him back by our obedience to him.
- 7:06That's just our way of showing God that we that we love him.
- 7:11So anyway, going back to questions, why does the
- 7:14narrative switch to poetry? The author probably felt that
- 7:17Job's deep emotions could best be expressed in lyrical poetry.
- 7:23Biblical poetry such as the book of Psalms typically conveys the
- 7:27spiritual dimensions of human feelings and the quest for a
- 7:31relationship with God for far more poignantly than narrative
- 7:36techniques which communicate facts and information within the
- 7:39framework of a story. Who would curse days?
- 7:43This is probably a general reference to professional
- 7:46sorcerers like Balaam from Numbers chapter 24, who were
- 7:51believed to have the power to make a day unlucky.
- 7:56And then what was leviathan? The word leviathan referred to
- 8:02any great water creature, such as a whale or a giant squid, but
- 8:07the word was also used in ancient myths to refer to a
- 8:12great sea monster that was believed to live in the oceans.
- 8:17Some ancient sorcerers claimed they could make Leviathan come
- 8:22up out of the sea and blot out the sun, temporarily causing a
- 8:27day be cursed. Here Joe was referring
- 8:31poetically to their claim to be able to rouse Leviathan.
- 8:36So anyway, this is really interesting because I want to
- 8:42depart. Well, let's see how many more.
- 8:44There's a few more things. I'm going to talk a little bit
- 8:46more about that. So is death better than a
- 8:49troubled life? In his misery, Job probably
- 8:52thought so. But the Bible's message
- 8:55throughout is that life, all life, is a gift from God.
- 9:00Even in terrible suffering, God's glory can be revealed.
- 9:06Was Job suicidal? In the midst of Job's
- 9:10unspeakable losses and physical pain, he said he longed for
- 9:15death, but he was not planning to take his own life.
- 9:20He was in mourning and expressing his deep sorrow that
- 9:24his life seemed unbearable. And I can relate to that.
- 9:28That's how I was feeling when I opened the book to Job was
- 9:32that's what I was actually praying.
- 9:34So how had God hedged in Job? Satan accused God of putting a
- 9:39barrier around Job to protect him.
- 9:42Job saw things differently. That God's hedge meant that
- 9:46there could be no escape from whatever God sent, whether
- 9:50protection or suffering. So that's where the study Bible
- 9:55questions and answers end. And I'm just going to go through
- 9:59some things that I that came to mind.
- 10:04As I mentioned when we were at the first part where Job is just
- 10:09he's cursed the day that's the very first sentence of this
- 10:12chapter 3 was that he cursed the day of his birth.
- 10:15Well this is kind of like what came to mind with to me was
- 10:19Jeremiah in chapter 20 verse 18 where Jeremiah says why did I
- 10:25ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my
- 10:32days in shame. So in this life we do have
- 10:37hardship, but as Jesus said, you know he has overcome.
- 10:43So we just put our faith in and hope in Jesus.
- 10:48The hope that we have is something known, not unknown.
- 10:51It's revealed through the Bible that there will be an end to all
- 10:55of this when we make that transition from this, this
- 10:58earthly mortal life that we have unto the OR into, I don't know
- 11:04what the right word is, into the immortal life that we will be
- 11:09given with God and be able to live with God in the future.
- 11:13And so there is a there, there is a good outcome.
- 11:18There is a good ending. The story, as long as we're
- 11:21reconciled with Christ, as long as we're reconciled with God,
- 11:25there is a good outcome to everything.
- 11:28If we're not an enemy of God, there's good things coming, even
- 11:31if we suffer right now, no matter what hardships we go to,
- 11:35God is just, he's so good in this book of Job, even though
- 11:39the so many chapters are about pain and suffering.
- 11:43In fact, when I opened up the book to it, when I first read
- 11:46it, I just thought, this is horrible.
- 11:49This is like not exactly what I was going through, but it was so
- 11:52bad. I was like, I don't need this,
- 11:54you know, like, how does it end? And I, before I even finish the
- 11:57book, I went all the way to the end of the chapter to see what
- 12:02happened. And God blesses Job in the end.
- 12:05He doubly blesses things that he took away.
- 12:09And I always think, well, you can't really get back your sons
- 12:12and daughters that were killed in a house.
- 12:14But he did have more sons and daughters.
- 12:17But then if they were believers, if they believed in God and it
- 12:23seemed like, you know, they had a father who was, who was
- 12:25showing them the these ways, then he's going to see them
- 12:30again in God's Kingdom. So he will be even doubly
- 12:34blessed in immortal life. And you know, whether this is a
- 12:40literal story or a parable used to tell us truths in the Bible,
- 12:46the same truth holds holds for all of us.
- 12:50Like if there's if we lose someone in our life, but they
- 12:54are a believer and they pass on before us, they make that
- 12:58transition. That's the way I look at it.
- 13:00They make the transition to immortal life before we do.
- 13:04We're going to see them again. They're not gone.
- 13:07They're temporarily. It's kind of like they're on
- 13:10vacation and we didn't get to go on vacation yet.
- 13:14So it's it's coming one day where we will all be united.
- 13:17So the important part is to have our priority on God and to
- 13:23prioritize our relationship with God.
- 13:27So anyway, but I wanted to bring up that Jeremiah was one I, I
- 13:32think there were other ones like Ezekiel.
- 13:33I have a feeling that he wasn't so thrilled about his assignment
- 13:37either where he had to enact things and let, I guess it was
- 13:44Judah, let him know the coming problems that were going to be
- 13:48coming along for them. I mean, you know, a lot of the
- 13:52prophets of the, the Old Testament, well, I mean the
- 13:56prophets generally speaking, they did have they had, they had
- 14:01warnings about what was coming, but many of them also had
- 14:07restoration. Not only did they prophecy doom
- 14:12and gloom, but in the end there was restoration.
- 14:15And that's what God is all about is the restoration.
- 14:19But we go through this process and the process refines us.
- 14:22It's probably like that as he talks, as God says, you know,
- 14:26refining us like silver and like silver, like you have to put it
- 14:30through the fire, you have to test it.
- 14:32You have to get rid of the impurities before somebody is
- 14:36ready. And that's the process that we
- 14:37go through on this earth. That's what I believe is that,
- 14:41and it says it in the Bible. I mean, this is, this is a
- 14:43process that we're going through and it's basically preparing us
- 14:46to be in God's Kingdom. And, and that's what this time
- 14:51here is on earth. So it's very precious time that
- 14:54we have and time right now is something that we don't get back
- 14:58with. This life here on earth has a a
- 15:02time frame. God knows our days.
- 15:04He knows how many numbered days we get.
- 15:07And so it's not good to waste them because I believe it will
- 15:12establish something in God's future Kingdom what we do with
- 15:16our time here, because the Bible talks about like rewards and
- 15:21about, I don't know what they are.
- 15:23But anyway, it just gives, I guess it gives us some hope that
- 15:28the way we live our life and the Bible does say what you sow, you
- 15:33will reap. So God does look at that and
- 15:36he's a good God. And, and I see so many times
- 15:39where somebody goes through a trial where he doubly blesses
- 15:44them afterwards. So God is just really good in so
- 15:47many ways. And the good gift that he gives
- 15:49is the Holy Spirit. Actually, it's not necessarily
- 15:52material things like many people think about, but it's the gift
- 15:55of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is what we need to enter
- 16:00into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said in John chapter 3.
- 16:04And the gift of the Spirit also gives us certain supernatural
- 16:10abilities that are listed if you search.
- 16:14I forgot where it was. I think it's in Corinthians or
- 16:16something that talks about the gifts of the Spirit.
- 16:19Now, the gifts of the Spirit are different from the fruit of the
- 16:22Spirit. Fruit of the Spirit is evidence
- 16:24that the Holy Spirit is in a person.
- 16:26But the gifts of the Spirit are something that the Holy Spirit
- 16:30gives to people when they receive the Holy Spirit.
- 16:34So that would be a really good separate study.
- 16:38Anyway, Leviathan, that's the next part where may those who
- 16:43curse the days curse that day and those who are ready to rouse
- 16:46Leviathan. It's, you know, it talks about
- 16:50Leviathan as being a myth that was referred to.
- 16:53But I just wonder if there's something more to this because
- 16:59you can search and I'm using the NIV version but search Leviathan
- 17:04and it only occurs 6 times. The first time is in job chapter
- 17:083 which we are on and it talks about rousing Leviathan.
- 17:12And then in job 41 it says can you pull in Leviathan with a
- 17:16fish hook or tie down its tongue with a rope.
- 17:20So there is this like creature that's talked about that is
- 17:27pretty significant and and that I'm going to go back to Job or
- 17:35not back to forward to Job 41. This electronic Bible that I'm
- 17:43looking at doesn't have the headline on it, but I, I don't
- 17:47know if it does in the Bible like I want to see in Job 41 who
- 17:53is talking here? I think it, I think it's
- 17:56actually God talking, yes. It is 'cause God starts speaking
- 18:02to Job on chapter 38 and then at 41 it's a continuation of that.
- 18:08So, so yeah, God is talking, you know, like, why would God talk
- 18:15about Leviathan? Why would God, you know, talk
- 18:18about this mythical creature? That's what I think.
- 18:24I mean, like, it just doesn't make sense.
- 18:26Like why? Why would God do that?
- 18:29I have a feeling it's it, it's a name for something.
- 18:33And it's not this like sea monster the way it it's
- 18:38depicted. But that is symbolic in the
- 18:40Bible. But it's something more than
- 18:42that. So even in the Psalms it's
- 18:45talked about in Psalm 7414, it says it was you who crushed the
- 18:52heads of Leviathan and gave it. It's gave it as food to the
- 18:56creatures of the desert. Now in the NIV version, it
- 19:00pluralizes head and makes it heads.
- 19:04But if you look at the Hebrew word for this in Psalm 7414, it,
- 19:11it's called Roche, which is really interesting because it
- 19:16would, it's like the chief for the head, somebody in charge of
- 19:21something, you know, like a main person.
- 19:24And that word Roche is used. It occurs 600 times in the
- 19:31Hebrew, the LWC Hebrew book. So I'm certainly not going to
- 19:35read all of that, but it's talking about like the let's see
- 19:41Strong's Concordance. See here's the strong's
- 19:45definitions. It's from an unused root,
- 19:48apparently meaning to shake the head as most easily shaken,
- 19:54whether literal or figurative, in many applications of
- 19:57placetime, rank, etcetera. Then it says band beginning,
- 20:03captain Chapeteer key chief place man things company and.
- 20:12Every man excellent first forefront, bee head height on
- 20:17the highest part, priest lead, poor principal, ruler sum top.
- 20:24So there's a lot of different words that are part of this
- 20:28definition, but it's somewhat like a chief or the head or
- 20:33something significant. And it's primarily the KJV
- 20:38translates Strong's H 7218 into the following manner.
- 20:43It's used as head 349 times, as chief 91 times, as the top 73
- 20:50times, the beginning 14 * a company 12 * a captain 10 times,
- 20:57and the sum 9 times in the first six times, the principal five
- 21:02times, chapateers 4 times, rulers 2 times, and
- 21:06miscellaneous 23 times. So if you want to do a little
- 21:11bit more search, you can go to blueletterbible.org and look up
- 21:15the this word and then, you know, do a deeper study and look
- 21:18at all those 600 verses that talk about it.
- 21:22But again, that is in Psalm 74 and that is written by Asaph and
- 21:28Asaph was he was also a prophet, which I didn't realize at when I
- 21:34first started reading the Bible that Psalms had prophetic things
- 21:37in them. But such as the Jesus was
- 21:42quoting Psalm when he was on the cross and one of the verses of
- 21:47Psalm. So it was a prophetic thing that
- 21:49was given. I think it was to David that
- 21:52Jesus was quoting because it certainly wasn't something David
- 21:55experienced, but it was exactly what was going through what
- 22:00Jesus was having happened to him.
- 22:02And it says like his legs were not broken and they didn't break
- 22:06his legs when he was on the cross.
- 22:07That said he was surrounded by dogs.
- 22:09And dogs mean a different thing than literal dogs.
- 22:12Sometimes they mean literal dogs, but a lot of times they
- 22:15they, I think it's really like spiritual idolatry.
- 22:20Those kind of people talks about a the old definition was a male
- 22:24prostitute. It could be like a literal male
- 22:27prostitute, but it could also be a symbolic male prostitute,
- 22:31someone who gives up God for another God.
- 22:34So an unbeliever. And, and they were, you know,
- 22:38those were the ones who crucified the Lord, the
- 22:41unbelievers. And so anyway, it's Psalm does
- 22:47have a prophetic, some of the Psalms do have prophetic
- 22:52significance and it does relate to Jesus's death on the cross.
- 22:56Now in Psalm one O 4 verse 26, it talks about Leviathan again.
- 23:00It says there the ships go to and fro and Leviathan, which you
- 23:05formed to frolic there. Now Leviathan's talked about
- 23:09like he's kind of like mocking or he's back and forth.
- 23:12And this Psalm one O 4, was it just it references Genesis and
- 23:20it talks about like in the beginning, I don't really know.
- 23:23It doesn't say, I guess in this edition that I have, it doesn't
- 23:27say who wrote this or where it came from, but it, it's somewhat
- 23:31reflects the creation story. But so Leviathan is mentioned
- 23:39and, and it's kind of interesting because this whole
- 23:43thing about merchants and about business and about selling and
- 23:49trading. And we see a lot of references
- 23:52in Bible prophecy about like Lucifer and how he was like
- 24:01trading in Babylon, like Babylon, who the like the spirit
- 24:05behind Babylon, where it was you traded with the, the world's
- 24:11wealthiest people or the richest people.
- 24:13I don't remember the exact word that's in the Book of
- 24:15Revelation, but there's this Leviathan like out in the scene.
- 24:20He's kind of mocking watching everything going on.
- 24:22And if he's the head, if he's watching all of this, then I
- 24:27think there might be something significant.
- 24:29So right now we've seen that Leviathan is referenced 4 times
- 24:33so far. And then Isaiah, another prophet
- 24:36talks about Leviathan. So I don't think this is like a
- 24:41a mythical thing because why would the Bible dedicate, you
- 24:46know, 5 different entries or you know, for this, OK, Isaiah 27
- 24:51verse one in that day, that's always the day of the Lord.
- 24:55Or often it is the Lord will punish with his sword, his
- 25:00fierce, great and powerful sword, Leviathan, the gliding
- 25:07serpent, Leviathan, the coiling serpent.
- 25:11He will slay the monster of the sea.
- 25:16So there is this brought to mind, the Book of Revelation,
- 25:23the Book of Revelation, Oops, I didn't.
- 25:26Let's say I have that. This is Revelation 13 verse one.
- 25:32The dragon, which is Satan, stood on the shore of the sea,
- 25:38and I saw a beast coming out of the sea.
- 25:43That's where the leviathan lives, right?
- 25:46It had 10 horns and seven heads with 10 crowns on its horns and
- 25:52on each head a blasphemous name. So we're let's see.
- 26:01So this talks about how. OK well I'll read first the next
- 26:06verse. The beast I saw resembled a
- 26:09leopard, but he had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like
- 26:12that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his
- 26:16power and his throne and great authority.
- 26:19Well we know from I think Revelation 12 that the dragon is
- 26:24symbolic of Satan. This beast is an alliance of
- 26:30it's like the sea is like the sea of people, the sea of many.
- 26:33It comes up out of the sea. But you know, this revelation is
- 26:37very symbolic. And again, Leviathan's talking
- 26:41about coming out of the sea and it's separate from Satan.
- 26:45However, Satan gives the beast his power.
- 26:48In Revelation 13 two, it talks about the dragon giving the
- 26:52beast his power and his throne and great authority.
- 26:57And then it says people worship the dragon Satan because he had
- 27:01given authority to the beast, the beast out of the sea.
- 27:05They also worship the beast and asked who is like the beast who
- 27:10can wage war against it. And then there's a second beast
- 27:15that comes up out of the earth, though it's not out of the sea,
- 27:18it's out of the earth. And it had horns like a lamb,
- 27:22but it spoke like a dragon. So this is what people will say
- 27:25is the false prophet because of, you know, it has two horns like
- 27:33a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.
- 27:37So maybe it kind of looked like Jesus was described as the lamb,
- 27:44like a holy one, but it spoke like a dragon.
- 27:47It spoke like Satan. So that's, you know, we're not
- 27:51going to get into all of the Revelation, but I just wanted to
- 27:54point out that that Leviathan really sounds like the beast in
- 27:59Revelation that comes up out of the sea.
- 28:01And if the Bible references Leviathan in the Old Testament
- 28:04five times and God even speaks about Leviathan, I have a
- 28:09feeling it's symbolic. You know, it's sometimes there's
- 28:13a literal and a symbolic significance to it.
- 28:17So I don't know if there's going to be something like that that
- 28:21really exists, but I'm looking at it symbolically right now.
- 28:27But who knows? I mean, the seas are really
- 28:30deep, and maybe there's something more than, you know,
- 28:33that has appeared to all these people.
- 28:34Or maybe it's just something evil that's appeared to people.
- 28:37And, you know, 'cause Satan can masquerade as an Angel of light,
- 28:40he can appear as a lot of different things.
- 28:42And there are evil things that are out there.
- 28:45So who knows? But I, I do think there's
- 28:49probably some significance. It also reminded me because, you
- 28:54know, the sword's going to come against Leviathan in that day.
- 28:56Like Isaiah says, he says that in that day the Lord will punish
- 29:01with his sword. Now we know Jesus comes with a
- 29:04sword out of his mouth. I mean, that's against symbolic,
- 29:07but I think that's like the words of Scripture, like the
- 29:10sword, because it says that the Scripture is alive and active
- 29:14and it's like a sword that cuts through sinews or muscles and,
- 29:20you know, it separates the soul. I mean, I forgot exactly what
- 29:23that verse is, but it's, it's talking about how like when we
- 29:27read the Bible, it cuts through a lot of stuff with us and it,
- 29:31it, it's, you know, it's the words of life and death is what
- 29:35Scripture gives us. So the Lord, you know, he said
- 29:39all these things, they're in scripture, they're documented
- 29:41for us for thousands of years for us to study.
- 29:44When the Lord comes back, he's going to punish with his sword
- 29:49all the people who rejected all the things that he said and had
- 29:52thousands of years to pay attention to what he said that
- 29:56he's coming back to punish and his with, with his sword, his
- 30:02fierce, great and powerful sword.
- 30:06And he's going to slay this leviathan, the gliding serpent,
- 30:10serpent, the coiling serpent, the monster of the sea.
- 30:15The only monster of the sea that we we read about in the Bible
- 30:19that I'm aware of is the one that comes up in the Book of
- 30:22Revelation. And it's something evil that's
- 30:25empowered by Satan. So God is going to deal with
- 30:29that in the day that Jesus returns.
- 30:32Jesus is going to deal with that.
- 30:34He is going to take care of that.
- 30:38That's going to be, yeah, there's a like a day of
- 30:41slaughter on that. So again, another place was
- 30:45Genesis chapter 3, verse 15. This is when God is talking to
- 30:50Satan and Eve, and it's because of their sin.
- 30:54And so God says, and I will put enmity between you talking to
- 31:00Satan and the woman and between your offspring and hers.
- 31:07He will crush your head and you will strike his heel.
- 31:13So you know, it's kind of like he's going to crush your head.
- 31:19The, you know, the head that's talked about in Job, that's
- 31:26Roche. So Jesus is going to crush that
- 31:30head, that chief that that beast that comes up out of the sea,
- 31:36Jesus is going to crush that. And that's empowered by Satan.
- 31:39But I think this is directly to Satan.
- 31:42And you know, Satan is kind of a head, like Jesus is the head of
- 31:46believers. Satan is the head of
- 31:50unbelievers. And Jesus is going to crush that
- 31:53head. And it has to happen so that
- 31:57good and evil can be separated. So anyway, that was just a lot
- 32:01of, I don't know, research that I thought in the Bible that may
- 32:08be relevant to this. And I think that really
- 32:11concludes, I don't know. In verse 14, it's talking about
- 32:18the kings of the earth who are in the ground and they built
- 32:21places that are now lying in ruins.
- 32:23And there were Princess who had gold, who filled their houses
- 32:26with silver. It's another reminder that we
- 32:29don't take anything with us, so our priority shouldn't be what
- 32:34we have here in the worldly sense, but our priority should
- 32:38be our relationship with God because that's where we are
- 32:42going to be in eternity with God.
- 32:45So it's so easy to get wrapped up into the worldly things that
- 32:51we see but and forget about what we don't see God, but we can see
- 32:58his presence just in the earth and creation and the beautiful
- 33:02sun rises, sunsets, the landscapes.
- 33:06There's evidence of God everywhere, but often we just
- 33:11get focused on unworldly things. And and if this is a good
- 33:15reminder like verses 14 and 15 of chapter 3, we're not going to
- 33:20take anything with us. So focus on what's important and
- 33:28let's see, God does protect. So like this time Job was being
- 33:35tested. He didn't know it, but for most
- 33:38of Job's life, he was protected by God.
- 33:43He and God had a very good relationship and he was
- 33:47protected as a result of that. Now, why did God let go Job get
- 33:52tested like this? So as you know, Satan the
- 33:55accuser, saying, hey, if you do this to him, he won't.
- 33:58Yeah, sure, maybe he likes you now, but do this stuff to him.
- 34:01He won't like you. He's just always had all your
- 34:03benefits. He never had to struggle.
- 34:06And so God allowed him to struggle.
- 34:08I think all of us probably will get tested at some point in our
- 34:11life, and that's where the truth comes out.
- 34:15Are we going to reject God or do we stay, remain close to him?
- 34:22And the enemy is trying to separate us from God and we just
- 34:27need to know that, especially when we see things that come up
- 34:31in our life and realize what's really behind it all.
- 34:36So anyway, I'm going to wrap up chapter 3 and next time we're
- 34:40one of Job's friends is going to have some things to say.
- 34:44So we'll cover that in chapter 4 next time.
- 34:46Hope you join. If you found this beneficial,
- 34:49please share it with other people.
- 34:51If you are not subscribed, please subscribe.
- 34:53And I try to stay in the word every day.
- 34:57I did read the word, but I didn't do this podcast for like
- 35:003 days. So sometimes that happens.
- 35:03But I really my goal is every day.
- 35:07So hope you come back. Thanks.
