- 0:00Chris K here with you've heard about it, the big arch.
- 0:04I love this product. It is so good.
- 0:06I'm going to do a tasting right now, but I'm going to eat this
- 0:09for my lunch, just so you know. All right, the moment of truth.
- 0:14That is so good. That's a big bite for a big
- 0:17arch. I'm gonna enjoy the rest of my
- 0:19lunch. But big arch, try it when you
- 0:21can get it. Mom, the food CEOs are being
- 0:23weird again. Hey guys, it's up to emergency.
- 0:25Welcome. Welcome back to my channel.
- 0:27And today's video is deeply unserious because what is
- 0:30happening right now is also deeply unserious.
- 0:33And whatever level we're currently at in this world of
- 0:36late stage capitalism, we have CEOs coming on this here
- 0:38Internet and playing in all of our faces.
- 0:40And this concept is really nothing new.
- 0:42But when it gets the levels of like, are you making fun of us
- 0:46right now by being so unserious? We need to talk about it.
- 0:50And I think we're there because we are currently living in a
- 0:52world where we have CE OS of companies that are
- 0:55multimillionaires, if not billionaires, coming on this
- 0:58Internet and trying to act like they are just like us and
- 1:00regularly consume the food and products that they put out and
- 1:03expect us to eat regularly. When we all know that that is
- 1:07not the case and has never been the case.
- 1:09And so again, why are you playing in our face right now?
- 1:12If you haven't seen the video of the McDonald's CEO eating the
- 1:15new Big Arch or whatever burger they're trying to sell you is,
- 1:19you have to go watch this video. It looks like someone who's like
- 1:23being held at gunpoint and having to eat something that
- 1:25they know is poison. Here it is, the Big Arch Burger.
- 1:33We've already lab tested this with other, you know,
- 1:36genetically modified animals and rats and stuff like that.
- 1:38So we've already the genetically modified animals love it.
- 1:41This is beef, yeah. This isn't some type of like
- 1:44human flesh. This isn't fingernails and
- 1:47toenails. And what really brought this up
- 1:51for me to talk about was the McDonald's CEO situation.
- 1:54If you did not know, there is a viral video going around of the
- 1:57McDonald's CEO, Chris Kay trying McDonald's new burger line on
- 2:01Candid Camera. And while that in and of itself
- 2:04might not sound like anything groundbreaking or shocking
- 2:06because, you know, it's not. He was just generally really
- 2:09weird with it. And apparently this is something
- 2:11that he does a lot. Like he often tries all of their
- 2:13new offerings live on camera each time they come out with
- 2:15something new. And I watched a few of them, and
- 2:17most of them kind of have that, like, awkward, corporate kind of
- 2:21vibe. But the one that was posted most
- 2:22recently has to take the cake because he really just tried to
- 2:25lie to us right to our face. He really sat up there and
- 2:27looked at that burger like he had never seen a burger before
- 2:30in his life, called it a product instead of food, and then
- 2:33proceeded to eat it live on camera by taking the world's
- 2:36smallest bite of that burger, not swallowing that bite and
- 2:40having the nerve to be like, oh, this is so good.
- 2:42This is such a big bite. Like, do you think we're stupid?
- 2:45Because what was that? Like?
- 2:47It just reminds me so much of when celebrities will partner
- 2:49with different food brands or like beverage and we'll be
- 2:51trying it on camera. And you can just tell by their
- 2:53initial reactions that they are not messing with whatever it is
- 2:56that they're promoting, but they kind of just got a grin and bear
- 2:58it. That is what this is.
- 3:00And like, hey, I understand that everything is not for everyone's
- 3:02taste buds, but I personally would much rather have someone
- 3:05be honest in their food review. Oh, I'm tasting these flavors
- 3:08like this isn't something that I would normally eat or is in line
- 3:11with my personal taste buds. But if you're a fan of XY and Z,
- 3:14then you'll love this, you know, because then at least we know
- 3:16that you're real. We know that you personally
- 3:18don't like it, but it's still good.
- 3:20And if you like these certain types of foods, you'll love it.
- 3:22I just think that when it comes to the food space on floating
- 3:24your food, people are too afraid of like honesty because not
- 3:27every new menu item that you're putting out is going to be a hit
- 3:29for everyone. And it's kind of ridiculous to
- 3:31make it seem like it's the best thing ever and like you're
- 3:33obsessed. And it's just so good.
- 3:34It's so tantalizing and so tasty and so spicy.
- 3:37Like, no, not everyone's going to like it.
- 3:38And I understand the whole concept of like marketing.
- 3:40You want as many people to try it as possible and buy it as
- 3:42possible, but like to fly off the sales to just be honest from
- 3:45John because that's what the food reviewers be doing.
- 3:47And that's what gets people to actually go ahead and buy.
- 3:50But whatever the food review portion is not really the point.
- 3:53It's part of the point, but it's not the full point.
- 3:55The point that I want to make here is that I'm tired of seeing
- 3:57CEOs get on the Internet and try and pretend like they're just
- 4:00everyday people. Because yes, on the grand
- 4:02scheme, CEOs are people just like anybody else.
- 4:05But at that level as ACEO, and when I say as ACEO, I'm talking
- 4:08about CEOs of like the Fortune 500 companies, like the multi
- 4:11million billion dollar companies.
- 4:12The lifestyle that you are living and the amounts of money
- 4:15that you are making is not relatable to the everyday
- 4:17person. That takes you out of the realm
- 4:18of everyday people relatability. I don't think that that's a
- 4:21crazy thing to say. And it's just odd for me
- 4:23personally that we've been seeing so much of this like CEO
- 4:25personality forward content. Because no shade, not every CEO
- 4:29needs to be in front of a camera and in fact should not be in
- 4:31front of a camera for the sake of your brand.
- 4:33Because I think when it comes to like a founder or CEO of like a
- 4:36small to medium business or like the goal and mission of whatever
- 4:39company is to like be community based and to be really in touch
- 4:42and have open communication with their community and their
- 4:44consumers and their customers, then that makes more sense that
- 4:47you would be more forward, that you would be more personality
- 4:49and front face. But again, for major multi
- 4:52million in billion dollar companies that never gave that
- 4:55like the McDonald's, like the Burger Kings, like the
- 4:57Chipotle's, there is no reason why we need to be hearing from
- 5:00you because we're not trying to be like you.
- 5:02And it just feels so inauthentic, or should I say
- 5:04like forcefully authentic. Because again, we know for a
- 5:07fact that these people are not active consumers of the food
- 5:10that they're putting out. And like pretending that you are
- 5:12for a press day is kind of like spitting in the face of your
- 5:14customers, low key. And 2, when it comes to being
- 5:16like really front facing, a lot of times we don't know or have
- 5:20any, any connection with these CEOs, nor does the average
- 5:23person know who they are. So it's kind of like, who is
- 5:25this random rich white guy and why are we watching him eat a
- 5:27burger? And that isn't even addressing
- 5:30the fact that like a lot of these CEOs aren't super
- 5:32personable and low key, they have never needed to be for
- 5:35their job. Like to be the CEO of
- 5:37McDonald's, you don't need to be super charismatic to the average
- 5:40consumer of McDonald's, like the average person walking into a
- 5:43McDonald's establishment, like you never really interact with
- 5:45those people. You just need to be charismatic
- 5:47to stakeholders. And shocker, shocker, those two
- 5:49things don't necessarily really translate because being super
- 5:52corporate robotic, charismatic definitely works in the
- 5:54workplace and in boardrooms, but when you want to hop on the
- 5:57Internet and be like the face of McDonald's, that just translates
- 6:00into some uncomfortably awkward and almost cringy online
- 6:04content. And Oh my God, if that wasn't
- 6:07bad enough, did y'all see that the other burger corporations
- 6:10are like clapping back to the McDonald's CEO like we are in
- 6:14corporate hell again? If you're out the loop a day or
- 6:16a few days after the whole McDonald's CEO incident, the CEO
- 6:19of Burger King made his own own video in the kitchen of, like,
- 6:22some Burger King restaurant where he has, like, an apron on
- 6:24and he's, like, putting the burger together.
- 6:26They're like ingredients on the table.
- 6:27There's lettuce, there's tomato everywhere.
- 6:29And he takes a big old bite out of his Whopper being like, yeah,
- 6:32I'm Aceo that eats my food. I take big bites, honey.
- 6:36Like, what are we talking about? And people in the comments are
- 6:38really. And they're like, yeah, you
- 6:39showed him you ate. Literally.
- 6:41We are gassing up Aceo worth millions.
- 6:44Actually. Wait, let me check.
- 6:45A man with a net worth pushing $100 million for eating a
- 6:48burger. Where have we gotten?
- 6:50We've lost the plot. Like that is the bare minimum.
- 6:52Like I'd hope the CEO of burger joint would enjoy the burgers
- 6:56and just the fact that we're here like gassing up this man
- 6:58for taking a bite, a singular average bite, not even a huge
- 7:01bite if you want to be honest. And I don't want to hear from
- 7:03you petite bite out. Like that was a normal bite for
- 7:06an average person. Yet we are here gassing it up
- 7:08being like, yeah, this is how ACEO should act like he should
- 7:11eat his product. Like we've lost a block.
- 7:13We've lost it because again, you know, good.
- 7:15And well, after those cameras wrapped, he took off that apron,
- 7:18got in his black truck and went back about his rich business.
- 7:21And like, oh, also, I do want to say there's nothing inherently
- 7:24wrong with that. I don't want to make it seem
- 7:25like I'm hating on people that got money.
- 7:26I think when it comes to billionaires, that's a different
- 7:28story. But in this case, there's
- 7:30nothing inherently wrong with that.
- 7:31We just don't need you cosplaying like you're just like
- 7:34the rest of us because that's just not the case.
- 7:36That's not your reality. You're doing just that.
- 7:38You're cosplaying. And that kind of feels crazy in
- 7:40the current state of the world that we're living in.
- 7:41And I just think that the CEO's of these big corporations aren't
- 7:44necessarily getting that in the way that they should because you
- 7:46got the CEO of Chipotle coming out every week saying some crazy
- 7:49stuff. I think recently it's like,
- 7:50yeah, 60% of our customers make over 100K.
- 7:53So we want to elevate the experience for them.
- 7:55Like what does that mean? What does that mean?
- 7:58Because the prices of Chipotle keep going up, but the quality
- 8:00keeps going down. So again, what does that mean?
- 8:02And don't get me wrong, I love me some Chipotle.
- 8:04Every now and then I'd be a Chipotle monster down.
- 8:06I don't get protein style, but I do enjoy my Chipotle.
- 8:08And every time I be there, the food be burnt or out of stock.
- 8:10So I'm like, what are we talking about?
- 8:12Because continuously slappifying your food and raising the price
- 8:15on it is crazy to me. To me that don't make sense.
- 8:19So if you're going to continue raising the prices and try and
- 8:21make it a premium thing for your 60% of consumers that make over
- 8:23100K, what does that look like? How are you going to do that in
- 8:26a real way? Like I swear we get closer and
- 8:28closer to that one Black Mirror episode with the subscription
- 8:31services every single day. Like I am sorry to keep bringing
- 8:34it up, but it is so weird to see CEOs be so front facing now and
- 8:39like yearning to be relatable. Like I don't know why the
- 8:41marketing and strategy teams want these CEOs to be relatable
- 8:44so bad. Because for anyone paying
- 8:46attention, at least for the last year, the economy and the
- 8:49culture has shown and a deep, and when I say deep, I mean deep
- 8:54wealth divide in this country. And the 1% in the 0.1% have
- 8:58continuously shown through their actions, they're lobbying who
- 9:00they're putting their financial support towards that they are
- 9:03trying to distance themselves socially, politically,
- 9:05culturally and economically from the rest of us that are not part
- 9:08of that group and have continuously been accumulating
- 9:10and hoarding more and more wealth from the people in the
- 9:1399%. These are the same kinds of
- 9:15people. And listen to me when I say
- 9:16kinds, not specific, but kinds of people behind and in support
- 9:19of policies and decisions that have risen food and grocery
- 9:22prices, lowered the quality and regulation of our food, made the
- 9:25job search and job process more difficult, even more tedious and
- 9:28lower paying. And many people of this level
- 9:30and in those circles are responsible for the surging
- 9:32prices in healthcare and housing.
- 9:34It's what we've been talking about, what we see when we talk
- 9:36about the billionaire class, the billionaires at hand.
- 9:38And while the McDonald's and Burger King CEO's are not
- 9:40themselves billionaires, the circles that they're a part of
- 9:43and the people that they support and lobby for specifically
- 9:45McDonald's do have impact and influence in that sector.
- 9:48And we know now more than ever that these people are not
- 9:50relatable and they made it very clear that they are not just
- 9:52like us, despite how they want to come across in their promo
- 9:54videos and through the different actions, they made it more clear
- 9:56than ever that they don't want anything to do with us besides
- 9:59just taking our money, which again, nothing new.
- 10:01That's how it's always been like just don't be in our face trying
- 10:04to be all buddy buddy, knowing good and well that you don't
- 10:06really give you know, you just want the money.
- 10:09And you could say that you don't need to hop on the relatability,
- 10:11the authenticity trend to try and poach more money out of us
- 10:14because we don't need that because having CE OS like the
- 10:17McDonald's CEO hop on camera to try a burger that we no for a
- 10:21fact he does not eat regularly. Lying directly at our heights
- 10:23about taking big bites of something only to not actually
- 10:26fully chew and swallow the food on camera to then go and call
- 10:29the food a product instead of actual food.
- 10:32It's crazy for one and just shows the true disconnect there.
- 10:35And having the other CEOs to hop on and get their little moment
- 10:37too is not any better. Because again, throwing on an
- 10:40apron and eating a burger in some Burger King kitchen kind of
- 10:42gives the same energy as like when a celebrity will throw on
- 10:45an apron and work a retail or service job for a day for promo
- 10:49just to be tag relatable. Like it doesn't land the way I
- 10:52think you think it lands. And if we want to zoom out and
- 10:54see who's really to blame for all of this CEO propaganda of
- 10:57having all these people on our face, I blame the tech CEO's and
- 11:01I blame the CEO influencers because they walked, took a
- 11:04booboo on our chest, slapped us and left so that these CEO's can
- 11:07come and take micro bites of burgers in our face.
- 11:09Because what do you mean? I think a lot of these CEO's in
- 11:13their marketing teams see the success of like tech CEO's
- 11:16essentially being the face of their companies.
- 11:18Like think Zuckerberg, think Tim Cook, think base, think Musk.
- 11:21All these people who have essentially become the face of
- 11:23their company and you think of their general personality and
- 11:26demeanor when it comes to that. Like Zuckerberg you got an
- 11:28awkward white man that sometimes puts on a beard.
- 11:30Musk you have an absolute tech bro weirdo.
- 11:32Bezos is a messy capitalist king and Tim Cook likes computers in
- 11:35Cobalt. But I think The thing is that
- 11:36the CEOs and their teams see how phase forward a lot of these
- 11:39tech CEOs have been over the past however many years and are
- 11:43thinking in their minds, maybe I can do that and maybe there's
- 11:46some value in that because people have their allegiances to
- 11:48their CEO's. But I think the part that
- 11:50they're missing is that those CEO's, whether you really like
- 11:53them for some reason or hate them or just feel any type of
- 11:55way about them, they are charismatic.
- 11:57And that charisma either draws people to buy their products in
- 12:00spite of anything else that comes out or the opposite and
- 12:02repels people from buying their products at all.
- 12:04But you need that charisma. And even in those cases, if not
- 12:07all those CEO's are still awkward or just generally off
- 12:10putting. And that's why a lot of times,
- 12:12even when you have these really charismatic and front basing
- 12:14CEO, they usually have someone under them that's even more
- 12:17charismatic that people actually like or at least can engage with
- 12:20in a more relatable way. Like I'm thinking like most
- 12:22area, like the president of Instagram, that's always super
- 12:24front facing under the Meta platforms, under Zuckerberg, who
- 12:27people tend to like more and see as more relatable than someone
- 12:29like Zuckerberg. But yeah, like I said in the
- 12:31beginning, this whole situation is so unserious because we are
- 12:34seeing things that people ain't never seen before.
- 12:36Like what? You mean a rich white man on my
- 12:37phone taking mini bites of burgers and saying is good?
- 12:40Like get off my phone. And honestly, in a weird and
- 12:44kind of interesting and karmic way, maybe we can think of all
- 12:46this as like the marketing team's way of being their CE OS
- 12:50biggest OP. Because if anything, in
- 12:52McDonald's case, this only makes things look kind of worse.
- 12:56I mean, it's getting the publicity like we're here
- 12:57talking about it, but this isn't a good look.
- 12:59And if that was the intention all along, shout out to them I
- 13:01guess, because they got a.
