- 0:22Whether you are listening in our app, in your favorite podcasting app,
- 0:25or on our website at watwm.org, we invite you to sit down with us as we look
- 0:31to the scriptures to learn more about God and to strengthen your daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- 1:03In this world today, it seems that stress is everywhere we turn.
- 1:07Many of us worry every day, sometimes even about the same things, over and over again.
- 1:12The Bible is plain that we are not to worry. Be careful for nothing,
- 1:16but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,
- 1:20let your requests be made known unto God.
- 1:22The Bible further states that, and we know that all things work together for
- 1:27good, to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.
- 1:31Written in the pages of His Holy Word, between Genesis and Revelation,
- 1:36are many promises of His providential care and love.
- 1:40These truths are meant to give us peace and to calm our hearts.
- 1:44He really does have everything under control.
- 1:47He hath put all things under His feet. Join us in this broadcast of Woman at
- 1:52the Well Ministries as Kim discusses the sin of worry.
- 1:56Hello and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of woman at the well ministries
- 2:01and our lesson today is going to come from psalm 138 verse 8.
- 2:07And it really doesn't matter what phase you're in, in your walk with Christ.
- 2:13And I mean that by saying whether you were saved yesterday or whether you've been saved for 30 years.
- 2:19It seems that one of the tools that the devil has to deceive us and to cause
- 2:26us great pain, and it's a snare that all of us fall into, whether we're new
- 2:30Christians or whether we're old Christians,
- 2:32and that is that sin of worry.
- 2:35And worry is so common among people, even among Christians, that many people
- 2:40do not even look at it as a sin.
- 2:43But the Bible is plain that it is a sin.
- 2:47And we're going to spend a little
- 2:48bit of time looking at the verses that explain to us that worry is a sin.
- 2:53But we hope to spend far more time on looking at the scriptures that will equip
- 2:59us to overcome that obstacle in our lives.
- 3:04You see the bible tells us in john chapter 10
- 3:07and verse 10 that the lord came to give
- 3:10us life that we might have it more abundantly
- 3:13and when we are worrying we are not living the abundant life and when we are
- 3:19worrying we are not placing our faith fully in a god that cannot fail we're
- 3:26not looking at our life through the eyes of his providential care,
- 3:33what we're doing when we worry is very similar to what peter did when he took
- 3:38his eyes off of christ began to see the circumstances around him and then he sunk.
- 3:46But in that very same lesson, we are taught that if we come to God and we say,
- 3:52Lord, save me, that he will reach down and immediately pick us up.
- 3:57Now, if you're saved, I believe wholeheartedly that the scriptures say that
- 4:03old things have passed away and all things have become new and that you are a new creature.
- 4:09In doing so, I don't feel that I can be lost today and saved tomorrow and lost
- 4:14again and saved and lost.
- 4:16I believe that when I place my faith in Jesus Christ, that I have turned over
- 4:24a new leaf by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that dwells inside of me.
- 4:28And as a result of that, my salvation is not a license to sin,
- 4:32but a motivation to do the works of the God which has saved me.
- 4:37To worship and adore my Savior and to allow my life to be a living sacrifice for Him.
- 4:43And i say that because when peter said lord
- 4:46save me he wasn't asking him
- 4:49to save him all over again as far as
- 4:52salvation he was asking him to save him from the perils that he was facing at
- 4:58that moment for the tragic stress and obstacles that he was in as he failed
- 5:06to be able to walk on water by of trusting Jesus and following,
- 5:10and instead fell to the circumstances that were around him.
- 5:14And what I'm saying is that regardless of where you are right now in your Christian
- 5:19walk, through faith, you can say, Lord, save me.
- 5:24And he will pick you up, placing you in the center of his will,
- 5:29if you're willing to cut off the things which so easily beset you,
- 5:33and put your eye on the prize of Jesus Christ and allow his righteousness to
- 5:40cleanse you from all evil.
- 5:43Then you can sit in the center of his will, and you can begin to live a life of abundance.
- 5:51And I'm not talking about material abundance. There's no doubt about it that
- 5:55he blesses us, and most of those blessings come through material things, or many of them do.
- 6:02But he also blesses us through health. He blesses us through peace of mind and
- 6:06through many other ways.
- 6:08And the thing that we want to talk about in this lesson is that blessing of peace of mind.
- 6:14He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind has stayed on thee through Christ Jesus.
- 6:19We're talking about perfect peace in the midst of the storm.
- 6:23We're talking about perfect peace when all around us is chaos and falling apart.
- 6:29We spoke briefly about Peter, who in the midst of the storm realized that Christ
- 6:35was already there and Christ bid him come.
- 6:37What truth there is in that because christ
- 6:41is already in the storm and he's bidding you to come to him and
- 6:44stand in the center of his will that all that
- 6:48he would have for you to fight that battle would be at your disposal you see
- 6:53his hand picked that battle and they've gone through nail scarred hands and
- 6:58filtered away into your path because nothing is going to happen to you that he does not allow.
- 7:05For you see, all things are under his feet.
- 7:09If you look at 1 Corinthians 15, 27, it says that he hath put all things under his feet.
- 7:18That means that he walks over crushing even the greatest problem that you have.
- 7:27It doesn't even require him to exert his full body to get you through it.
- 7:35It doesn't even require him to place his mind to it. For you see,
- 7:39whatever you're going through right now is already under his feet.
- 7:44And he has defeated it. The victory is already won, and the Bible says that
- 7:49we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.
- 7:52Yet, many of you within the sound of my voice at this very moment are nearly
- 7:58worried to death, at least worried sick about something.
- 8:02Perhaps you're worried about your finances.
- 8:05And no doubt we need to be disciplined with our finances we are god's banker
- 8:09and he places inside of our accounts and our lives a certain amount of financial
- 8:16wealth that we are to distribute.
- 8:21As he says to do so that i believe wholeheartedly he means to distribute i don't
- 8:27think he means for you to hoard it up for yourself for you see when the rich
- 8:30man was hoarding up all of his treasures,
- 8:33He wanted to know what was going to happen if tonight his soul would be required of him.
- 8:38Perhaps you're worried about your health. And that's a scary, scary thing.
- 8:43Because when it comes down to the very crux of the matter, nothing else matters
- 8:50if you're not there to enjoy it.
- 8:53And so sometimes we get extremely concerned about our health.
- 8:57And the Lord is there as our great physician.
- 9:00But sometimes we're concerned about how he's going to take care of us or what
- 9:04his will will be in that matter.
- 9:07But either way however you're looking
- 9:10at it you're worried and my
- 9:13friend i can empathize with you
- 9:16and i can sympathize with you but i
- 9:19must tell you the truth that the bible says in philippians 4 6 that we are to
- 9:24be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
- 9:30let your request be made known unto god what a verse he says be careful for nothing,
- 9:39being careful for nothing means we need to not place
- 9:43our care and worry upon it and you see he didn't give us anything that we could
- 9:48worry about he didn't say that we could worry about our finances but you know
- 9:53i think he knew that we would so he gave us philippians 4 that said that he
- 9:58will supply all of our needs according to his riches.
- 10:02Through Christ Jesus according to his riches,
- 10:05my father Jesus owns the cattle on a thousand hills and the hills thereof and
- 10:10he tells me in the book of John that he knows the needs I have before I even
- 10:14ask he further tells me that he prays for me in John chapter 17,
- 10:20he tells me that he ever liveth to make intercession for me,
- 10:24he knew that we would worry,
- 10:27But he also said, it's needless.
- 10:31Be careful for nothing.
- 10:33But in everything by prayer and supplication, we need to take a request to God.
- 10:38And we need to talk to him. Sometimes it's for understanding.
- 10:42And sometimes it's for more faith.
- 10:47Sometimes it's just so we can let him know, hey, I'm scared.
- 10:51The Bible says that fear is cast out by perfect love.
- 10:57And Jesus Christ loves you perfectly. and
- 11:01when you begin to place your faith and trust in him and loving him
- 11:03with your whole heart soul and mind then you'll
- 11:06begin to love him perfectly and there's no room for fear i'll tell
- 11:10you something else that'll cast fear out of your life if you
- 11:13sit down and just take a close look at romans 8 28 romans
- 11:178 28 says and we know that all things work
- 11:20together for the good to them that love the lord
- 11:23to them who are called according to
- 11:27his purpose when you placed your faith in
- 11:30jesus christ as savior you got a job to do you were you were assigned a task
- 11:38and that task was to go you into all the world and preach and teach the gospel
- 11:42that task was to be a light of the world that task was to be the salt of the world.
- 11:50That task was to be a peculiar people zealous of good works. Friends.
- 11:57When you placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you were given a wonderful relationship.
- 12:03And that relationship was to realize that you have an advocate, the Father.
- 12:13You have a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
- 12:16And you have a creator who is now your Savior, who knows the plans that he has for you.
- 12:23And you've got to place your trust in this
- 12:26personal walk you have with him this personal
- 12:29jesus christ it is now someone that has
- 12:32absolute personality and being in your
- 12:35life you have to trust that as
- 12:38you have given up your life and placed it in
- 12:41his hands and allowed him to have full reign that whatever takes
- 12:44place in your life is going to work out for your good
- 12:47because you've been called according to his
- 12:50purpose because I just told you the things that he's called you to do when you
- 12:55said Jesus save me when you renounced your sins and placed your faith in God
- 13:02and allowed him to impute his righteousness in you through that commitment of
- 13:06your heart through faith in Jesus Christ.
- 13:11You have the promise that it's going to work out for your good.
- 13:15So we very clearly can see that we're not to worry, but we're to pray.
- 13:22The Bible says that we're to pray without ceasing.
- 13:25But then the next part of that Philippians 4, 6, and I promise we are going to get to Psalms 138, 8.
- 13:31But in that next part of Philippians 4, 6, things get just a little bit hairy
- 13:35for the child of God because it says with thanksgiving.
- 13:39And that's why we spoke about romans 8 28 before we carried through philippians
- 13:454 6 because it takes a faith that's strong to be thankful for the situation
- 13:55you find yourself in if it's a situation that makes you uncomfortable.
- 13:59And the Bible says, Be not deceived,
- 14:00God is not mocked, for whatsoever man soweth, that shall he also reap.
- 14:04And sometimes because we're out in the horse weeds and we're doing those things
- 14:07that we're not supposed to do and the Lord chastens who he loves,
- 14:10we find ourselves in a world of hurt.
- 14:13That's not what we're talking about right here. Because there are people who
- 14:16walk in the center of God's will and those who are looking at their life are
- 14:20wondering what in the world is going on to these people who love God.
- 14:24How could so many catastrophes happen to one family or one person?
- 14:28And we begin to judge them. Remember Job?
- 14:31Job had a lot of friends like that. He even had a wife said, curse God and die.
- 14:36But Job had a relationship with Jesus Christ. He was personal.
- 14:40God had a personality to him. God was his friend and Job wasn't going to turn
- 14:45his back on a God that he knew.
- 14:48My friend, how well do you know God? You
- 14:51can fully know God through fully knowing Jesus Christ
- 14:54and Jesus Christ is completely explained from Genesis
- 14:57to Revelations in a beautiful love letter that he's written to us that we might
- 15:03place our faith in him but we have to have a relationship that includes enormous
- 15:09amount of faith in order to be thankful for the things that we're in but Philippians
- 15:134 6 says that we need to pray.
- 15:17And we need to be thankful which employs trust Hebrews 11 6 says but without
- 15:24faith it is impossible to please him for he that cometh to god must believe that he is,
- 15:30that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him
- 15:33matthew 7 7 says asking you shall receive seeking you shall find knocking it
- 15:37shall be opened unto you in hebrews 11 6 that we just read in your hearing we
- 15:43see that you must believe and you got to believe that he is and so i go back
- 15:48to that question that I just asked you a few moments ago, how well do you know him?
- 15:53It makes all the difference in the world.
- 15:56Because if you have a close walk with Jesus Christ and that he walks with you
- 16:01and talks with you, and you hear him when he whispers,
- 16:05when the waves roll over you, you just pop your head back up.
- 16:14Because you realize they rolled over you. Because you can't stay under.
- 16:19Because Jesus Christ says that if you will umber yourselves under the mighty
- 16:26hand of God, that in due time he will exalt you. He'll lift you up.
- 16:30And he said, I'll never leave you nor forsake you.
- 16:37And so what comes your way? Talk to me about it.
- 16:43Thank me for it. but above all
- 16:46believe because you've got to believe
- 16:48who i am that's what he says and
- 16:52you got to believe that he will reward those that seek him and
- 16:55rewards them with answers to their prayers do you
- 16:58realize that you have absolute access to god almighty through jesus christ his
- 17:03son and that you can speak to him anytime you want so long as there's not sin
- 17:08in your heart because psalmist david said if you regard iniquity in your heart
- 17:12he won't hear you So you live your life with nothing between you and God.
- 17:17And when you do that, you can talk to him and he'll reward you with an answer.
- 17:23You say, Kimball, I get what I want. Not if it's not best for you.
- 17:26But you'll get an answer every single time. But sometimes it's no.
- 17:32Sometimes it's wait. Remember, the Bible tells us in Isaiah that they that wait
- 17:36upon the Lord, he shall renew their strength.
- 17:39They shall mount up as eagles.
- 17:41But see, it all requires faith. in psalms chapter 138 and verse 8 i believe
- 17:47it's one of the most precious scriptures that i've read in recent times the
- 17:53bible says the lord will perfect,
- 17:57that which concerneth me who did you hear me the bible says the lord will perfect.
- 18:05That which concern of me. Maybe
- 18:08you don't understand at all how you're going to get through this one.
- 18:11And maybe you have spent hours in the middle of the night trying to figure out
- 18:17how you're going to work it out and just how anything good could ever come of this.
- 18:20But you've heard Romans 8, 28. Tonight we've heard it clearly.
- 18:25And you're just trying to figure how is it all going to work?
- 18:29So you give him some suggestions. Instead of praying with request and supplication
- 18:35with thanksgiving, you begin to tell him how to fix the situation.
- 18:39And I believe wholeheartedly that you can tell him things that you want.
- 18:42And I believe that you can speak to him about the things that you think might
- 18:48work, but you can't tell him this is how it's going to work.
- 18:52And you have to be open to listen to him when he says, Now, Kimmy,
- 18:56that's not my plan and that's not my way.
- 18:59Wait on me, Kimmy. Hear me, Kimmy. Kimmy, hush.
- 19:04Remember in Ephesians 6, he says, when you've done all, you just stand.
- 19:08When you're standing, guess what? He's got full control of you.
- 19:13You're just standing, just listening, just hearing.
- 19:18The Bible says that he'll perfect that which concerns you. That's a promise.
- 19:23The things that you're worrying about right now, that we're not supposed to
- 19:27be worrying about because we're supposed to have faith and the Bible tells us
- 19:31that anything that is not done in faith is sin in Romans 14, 23.
- 19:37Well, you're still worried. You're not employing your faith and you're not listening to his promise.
- 19:44The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me. And in that very same verse,
- 19:49he says, thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever.
- 19:53You know what I love about that? i make mistakes
- 19:56i i fully get peter
- 19:59looking at god and walking on the water as he looked
- 20:01at jesus christ and suddenly the wind started
- 20:05howling and suddenly this intellectual part flips
- 20:07up in his head and says you know i'm a man i don't walk on water and
- 20:10he begins to look around as soon as he takes his eyes off jesus he falls in
- 20:13the water i get it i get about thinking through the problem too much so that
- 20:19i cover up my faith i get looking at the circumstances instead of letting that
- 20:25joy unspeakable and full of glory swell up within me understand it.
- 20:30But just like Peter, I sink. Guess what? So do you.
- 20:34And I mess things up, making them far worse than they need to be.
- 20:39But just like Peter, I say, Lord, save me. I'm listening, God.
- 20:44And I can pour my heart out to him and I can explain to him what's bothering me.
- 20:49And if I'll just believe that he's listening and I'll remove the sins from my
- 20:55life that don't need to be there.
- 20:57And i began to concentrate on how much i love jesus
- 21:00and i began to see his promises about how
- 21:03much he loves me and i realized that he's
- 21:06the same god yesterday today and forevermore and that his mercy endures forever
- 21:10i know that he'll forgive me because he said if i confess my sins he's faithful
- 21:14and just to forgive me of my sins and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness
- 21:18in first john 1 9 and then he reminds me in this very verse don't forsake the work of thine own hands.
- 21:26And you know what he tells me he tells me i created you and in miami i created
- 21:31you and i've got plans for you i wouldn't have built you if i didn't have a
- 21:35plan and then he tells me that in jeremiah 29 11 so as you're looking at whatever
- 21:40that is in your life right now that's causing you to stumble and causing your faith to wane?
- 21:46Give it up that whole idea.
- 21:49And claim to the faith that he said, because he said, be careful for nothing.
- 21:53And he said he would perfect that which concerns you.
- 21:58So right now, this very moment, go to him in prayer,
- 22:03and let your requests be made known unto God and thank him for this that has
- 22:08brought you to your knees, that you might renew that covenant you have with
- 22:12Christ and walk in his will.
- 22:15Because guess what? He loves you so much that he died for you.
- 22:21He will perfect that which concerns you.
