- 0:00I hate to have to come on the Internet and defend Kaisenat in
- 0:022016. And before we get into this,
- 0:04this is not to say that this is in defense of any of his
- 0:07previous actions. Now what that says, hey guys,
- 0:09what's up to emergency and welcome, welcome back to my
- 0:11channel. We've done some reflecting on
- 0:12rebranding in the new year, and now it's time to talk about
- 0:15people who are actually brands in the new year, I guess.
- 0:19And the main person we're bringing up in this conversation
- 0:20is Kaisenat, who's been coming under fire or at least coming
- 0:24under scrutiny recently for his recent brand switch up from
- 0:27celebrity streamer and crazy Internet personality.
- 0:30Now a thinker, A mogul, and get this a reader and we'll get more
- 0:36into this. But the main reason I wanted to
- 0:38spend a whole video talking about this whole thing was
- 0:40because I thought that the whole response to this brand pivot and
- 0:43the lack of grace given to him specifically is interesting to
- 0:46note when compared to his peers and predecessors who quite
- 0:49honestly have done much worse and have gotten away with it for
- 0:52much less. So when it comes to things like
- 0:55influencer rebrands and honestly, influencer career
- 0:58revivals, let's take a little look and to who really has the
- 1:01right to change and why. The big difference between a
- 1:07warrior and a victim is that the victim represses and the warrior
- 1:11refrains. We found.
- 1:13A dead body. Unidentified aerial phenomena in
- 1:19the sky. We don't know what they are.
- 1:20EU it's very. Possible someone has been
- 1:23alleging for years now that you, one of the largest commentary
- 1:26creators on YouTube, knowingly committed a crime against her
- 1:29when she was a minor. It's news to me, news to me
- 1:32apparently, which is like annoying because they're already
- 1:34paid for. I guess it's like against the
- 1:36HOA rule. All right, I know there's like
- 1:38an audience and content creator overlap at times, but let me
- 1:41just let you in on some creator trade secrets.
- 1:43OK so POV do you ever find yourself scrolling on the for
- 1:45you page and find a funny TikTok and go like Oh my God this is so
- 1:49funny let me go see this creator's other content only to
- 1:51find the same video or at least like type of video done over and
- 1:54over and over again on their page.
- 1:56Or maybe you wonder why your favorite YouTube seems to have
- 1:58the same thumbnail over and over and over again or just doesn't
- 2:01branch out as much outside of their niche.
- 2:03Well my friends, if you weren't already aware, that's because
- 2:06platforms reward monotony, or at least how they say it, content
- 2:09consistency. If you make a video that utterly
- 2:12banks and brings in your highest viewership, you've now got
- 2:15yourself a new target demographic and a brand new
- 2:17content vertical that they will be expecting from you.
- 2:19And is this necessarily true all the time for all creators?
- 2:22No. There are of course exceptions
- 2:24to this rule, but if you are trying to build an audience, in
- 2:26many cases it does kind of go back to the old adage of if it
- 2:28ain't broke, don't fix it and to just generally stay in your
- 2:31lane. And yes, this is strategy.
- 2:33I mean, believe it or not, this content stuff is a job for many
- 2:36people after all, and that's why you may see people stick to a
- 2:38certain niche, especially if this is their main source of
- 2:41income. This is also why you always hear
- 2:42from creators that content pivots are some of the hardest
- 2:45things for creators to do, especially before you get to a
- 2:47certain point. Like for example, in my case, I
- 2:49used to be a show review channel over two years ago and there is
- 2:52still a good chunk of you all or at least people on the Internet
- 2:55that beg for that kind of content over the commentary that
- 2:58I do now, just because that is the brand and that is the
- 3:00vertical that I initially came up with.
- 3:02And if you are one of those people that curves that kind of
- 3:04content, go subscribe to my second channel and ask nicely
- 3:07and we might do some show reviews over there.
- 3:08But I bring all that up to say that I think that after you
- 3:10reach a certain point of success, especially on social
- 3:12media, you can make that flip to switch up your content because
- 3:15not only is that safety there, the audience loyalty is there as
- 3:18well. However, these pivots are not
- 3:20always without criticism and repercussion, especially in the
- 3:23public court of Internet discourse.
- 3:25With the Internet being as punitive of a system as there
- 3:27is, who has the right to change and reinvent their content?
- 3:31Enter Kaisenat and his arguably performative rebrand.
- 3:34Now, what initiated this whole thought process was the Internet
- 3:36discourse taking place at the moment, which I do have to say
- 3:39is usually on the other side of the Internet from me.
- 3:42And that has to do with Kaisenat and his rebrand to reading more,
- 3:45learning how to sew and start, and just generally working out
- 3:48and hearing these things for the first time on social media.
- 3:50I truly did not give a gap. I'm sorry, I hate to say it.
- 3:53I don't mean to sound ridiculous, but I do not know
- 3:55who this man is really beyond some sometimes problematic clips
- 3:58that I see from him and his guests online.
- 4:00But still, shout out to him. I mean, until I saw a world of
- 4:03discourse behind a change that's seemingly innocuous as far as I
- 4:07can tell, like reading more, learning how to sew, and working
- 4:09out. We're on thousands of people's
- 4:11New Year's resolutions this year.
- 4:12So truly, why do we care? Actually, I'll tell you so for
- 4:16those of you who are not into the streamer and Twitch world of
- 4:18it all, and trust me, neither am I really.
- 4:20You have likely heard of Kaisenat as he is one of the
- 4:22biggest streamers on the platform.
- 4:24He's known for his mixed bag content of gaming reactions
- 4:26day-to-day IRL or vlog esque streams, as well as being the
- 4:30host behind some of the largest streaming events over the past
- 4:32couple of years like Streamer University as well as his 24
- 4:35hour 32 day stream series called Mafia Thon.
- 4:37He's also known for his many celebrity guests ranging from
- 4:40Kim Kardashian to Mariah Carey to less savory characters like
- 4:44Miss Macha Minaj. And I will say she was on his
- 4:46stream pre like full mogification as well as people
- 4:49like Chris Brown. And also side note here, how
- 4:51does everyone continuously forget that he consistently
- 4:54beats people? Like it's not just women that he
- 4:57beats. Like that's bad enough.
- 4:58He's beating everybody. Like check his track record up
- 5:00until very recently. It's bad.
- 5:02But getting back to Kai, he's recently announced that he's
- 5:04quitting streaming or being online, which is clickbait, of
- 5:07course, because in reality, he's just switching up the kind of
- 5:10content that he's making, focusing now on time, reading
- 5:12out loud, learning how to sew for his fashion line and again,
- 5:15working out, which to my surprise, has caused quite the
- 5:18stir online. And I think if the biggest
- 5:20offense here, at least according to the online discourse here, is
- 5:23the perceived coordinates and that all of this is
- 5:25performative, I'll take it. Like we have much bigger and
- 5:27much more felonious and hateful fish to fry you guys.
- 5:30Like, come on, like what happened to the to be cringes to
- 5:32be free people? Like, where are y'all at now?
- 5:35On the other hand though, I think there is so much backlash
- 5:37or at least judgement coming from people about this because
- 5:39the person that Kaisenat is becoming and the way in which he
- 5:42is choosing to become that person is not the person that
- 5:45the audience that he cultivated knows him to be and who is
- 5:48original content appealed to. According to stream charts, of
- 5:50course, as of recording this video as the last 30 days, his
- 5:53audience is primarily males ranging from the ages of 20 to
- 5:5524 years old, which no shade is honestly higher than I thought
- 5:58that it was going to be. I thought that it would
- 5:59personally range from around 16 to 18 to 24, but shout out young
- 6:03adults. But when we're talking about
- 6:04this audience demographic specifically, we do have to take
- 6:06into account the modern landscape of streaming and how
- 6:09he and other streamers like him have built up their audiences.
- 6:12And I don't mean to make a generalization because I know
- 6:13this is not everybody, but the lot of people in these audiences
- 6:16don't seem to be the most open minded community or those the
- 6:19most accepting of change. With audiences often engaging in
- 6:21similar sexist, racist, and oftentimes homophobic rhetoric
- 6:25as their streamers and guests they watch too.
- 6:27So like at the end of the day, we can't be shocked when the
- 6:30audience that you cultivated that isn't the most open minded
- 6:33to a lot of things aren't the most open minded to you in your
- 6:37changes as well. Like truly, who set that system
- 6:40up? These are the golden handcuffs,
- 6:41my friends. But getting more on the
- 6:42controversy itself, his fans and his haters are teaming up
- 6:45because they both think this is an inauthentic move.
- 6:48Because nobody had an issue with his rebrand.
- 6:50When he came out and said, yo guys, I can't stream anymore.
- 6:54It's taking a toll on my mental. I don't know how to outdo
- 6:56myself. I had LeBron on stream.
- 6:58I streamed for 30 days straight. People understood that that's a
- 7:01lot to handle. And people gave him grace for
- 7:03that. But then when he came and said,
- 7:06but I want to be a fashion director, fashion designer,
- 7:09dickhead. When I want to be a fashion
- 7:10designer, that's when people started to get a little cautious
- 7:14because of the fact that when you're rebranding, it either has
- 7:17to be slow and compound on itself or has to be something
- 7:21that's a natural transition. You know, he's a creator that
- 7:24that makes comedy videos. Get into stand up comedy.
- 7:27You stream a lot, you're on video, start acting.
- 7:31Those are things that would have made sense the average viewer
- 7:33and no one would have questioned.
- 7:35With some fans also calling out this switch up as being
- 7:37inauthentic, performative and not what they signed up for.
- 7:40And very much unlike Kai, which like OK, he is a literal
- 7:44performer being that he is live on Twitch all the time.
- 7:47Like I don't know, again, this is no shader disrespect, but
- 7:49like the concept of expecting authenticity from a streamer is
- 7:52kind of crazy work. I'm sorry.
- 7:54Like I just think that it's kind of foolish in our year of 2026
- 7:57to expect authenticity from streamers and influencers at
- 7:59this point. Like I'm sorry, but that is
- 8:01literally the whole job. Like the whole job is to
- 8:03perform, and I'm sorry if that breaks the immersion.
- 8:06I'm sorry, but the concept of being an influencer and the
- 8:08concept of being a content creator is to inherently be
- 8:11inauthentic no matter what the creator says, no matter how
- 8:13authentic the creator portrays themselves to be and how
- 8:16authentic they may be in real life.
- 8:17The nature of recording content and posting it online for people
- 8:20to engage with so that you can profit off of it is inherently
- 8:23inauthentic because it is no longer just about the craft.
- 8:26It is no longer just about the connection.
- 8:27It is a job and it can and oftentimes is a job that you can
- 8:30enjoy and enjoy the community that you Foster and build
- 8:33connections with and interact with on a daily basis.
- 8:35But the foundation behind that is that it is a job.
- 8:38And especially when you get to that level, when you are making
- 8:40millions off of your content and you have millions and millions
- 8:42and millions of supporters, that 100% becomes a performance.
- 8:45Like there is no way to authentically show up for
- 8:47millions of people as an individual.
- 8:48Like we were not designed to do that.
- 8:50Like expecting someone to be authenticated themselves at 100%
- 8:52all the time is just unrealistic.
- 8:55I'm sorry. So on the spectrum of all things
- 8:57evil, it could be so, so much worse.
- 8:59That's when I thought Kaisenat couldn't get any more
- 9:02performative. He decides to drop this absolute
- 9:04bang, this video. He's working on his new brand,
- 9:07Vivette, basically some type of fashion brand.
- 9:09And you know, he's staying up late writing down ideas, working
- 9:12hard, and at one point he pulls out these Instax photos and
- 9:15tapes them to the paper. Like, is this a vision board or
- 9:17what? But that's not even really that
- 9:18bad. Have you noticed the quality of
- 9:20this video? That's because he used a 3DS to
- 9:23record the video. As you can see his comment right
- 9:25here. Recording off my 3DS.
- 9:27We are reaching new levels of performative we have never seen
- 9:30before. This guy grabbed this 3DS and he
- 9:32might have even bought a 3DS just for this.
- 9:34Mike Y'all would. Truly.
- 9:35He had me strung up in Times Square, if this is what we're
- 9:38going after. Tyson Hat is doing this thing
- 9:40where he's reading on stream to improve his literacy and like,
- 9:43First off, props, you know, anything to encourage literacy
- 9:46is great. But I feel like he when you
- 9:49watch that video, you will see that there's two things that are
- 9:52a really integral part of like reading that Tyson Hat and a lot
- 9:57of people don't have because reading is not just being able
- 10:01to see a word and then say it. Part of reading is 1.
- 10:06Like reading and comprehending. Like it is entirely possible to
- 10:09read a page aloud and then come away and not have any idea what
- 10:13it said. And when Kaisenat reads, you can
- 10:16tell that he's tracking the words with his eyes, But is he
- 10:19following the ideas with his mind?
- 10:22I don't think so. And while I think that there is
- 10:24some validity to the worry that he might be perpetuating A
- 10:27harmful stereotype about black men, which again, I would agree
- 10:30would be crazy if he's pretending to be reading like
- 10:32that. And if that's the case, that's a
- 10:34whole separate video. But taking that in good faith,
- 10:36what if that's not the goal and he's genuinely, truly trying to
- 10:39get better? What's the harm in that then?
- 10:41I think oftentimes we forget that we really do have a
- 10:43literacy crisis in this country in general.
- 10:45And I know that he went to college for a little bit before
- 10:47he dropped out to do content full time.
- 10:49But the literacy crisis unfortunately does impact us
- 10:52all. And also, again, I don't watch
- 10:53his content regularly, but many people that do have said that
- 10:55they noticed in old streams, he does tend to read that way.
- 10:58So really the fake reading allegations are all speculation
- 11:01at this point. Now with that said, when we're
- 11:03talking about who gets re Brandon, who gets to change, I
- 11:05would be remiss if I did not mention some of his offenses in
- 11:08general because as I've mentioned, with a massive
- 11:10following and viewership comes a equally, if not more massive
- 11:14responsibility. And unfortunately with that, he
- 11:16has platformed some rather terrible people such as Chris
- 11:19Brown and Kodak Black, who are both well known abusers, as well
- 11:22as multiple incidents of homophobic and misogynistic
- 11:24rhetoric being used during extremes.
- 11:26And these are obviously not great traits to have when having
- 11:29an influential platform. But what gets me about this, and
- 11:31this is how I know that I'm on a different side of the Internet,
- 11:33is that no one is really going after this.
- 11:35Like the core audience of Kaisenat stands do not care.
- 11:38They do not care about that stuff.
- 11:40That is fine. But where the line is being
- 11:42drawn? The real problem here, the thing
- 11:43that makes people question their support of Kaisenat, is him
- 11:47sadly trying to read out loud and not be a good reader.
- 11:50And I also did want to address very briefly, because this is
- 11:53not substantiated and could very well be misinformation, and
- 11:55having that with a big disclaimer.
- 11:56And allegedly all around this, I was seeing comments online
- 11:59saying that he was allegedly, allegedly endorsed by AIPAC,
- 12:03which gagged me and not in the good way.
- 12:05But in doing further research, neither my researcher nor I
- 12:08found any substantiating evidence on this other than the
- 12:10tweet of origin that comes from the account with the bio
- 12:13professional rage baiter. So I'm personally not super
- 12:15inclined to believe that. So unless you got a primary or
- 12:18secondary source on this, I don't think that's that's true
- 12:20because Elon Musk's Twitter is definitely not a reliable source
- 12:23in the slightest. And this very well may be one of
- 12:25the many cases of misinformation on that platform.
- 12:28Now, with that said, let's bring this conversation into the
- 12:30broader talking more broadly about the general question of
- 12:33who has the right to rebrand? Who has the right to change
- 12:35their career around? And why does this matter?
- 12:37Because the times haven't suddenly changed and I'm not
- 12:39suddenly a streamer gossip channel, OK, Things have nuanced
- 12:41and there's a reason why I'm talking about this because this
- 12:44whole little discourse got me thinking.
- 12:45It got this little noggin running, OK?
- 12:48And it made me think about how and the whole sphere of
- 12:51influencer and content creation, who really is allowed to change.
- 12:55And what I mean by that is who gets to change and rebrand,
- 12:57especially after controversy or just a general fall from the
- 13:00public's graces. Because unfortunately, and by
- 13:02unfortunate, I mean very fortunately, we don't have Shane
- 13:04Dawson going around anymore giving PR documentaries for
- 13:07canceled influencers. And it just really got me
- 13:09thinking of like other instances in which content creators or
- 13:12influencers have been put on trial in the court of public
- 13:14Internet opinion. And honestly, I did not like
- 13:17what I found with the most prominent instances, including
- 13:21sorry. Let me get in character for a
- 13:22second. Hi everyone, hello.
- 13:26And now I present to you best rebrand of the Internet.
- 13:31Logan Paul, Japanese suicide forest vlogger to do do apology
- 13:35video to podcaster that interviews the president Cody Ko
- 13:40engaging with minors and now going back to making content
- 13:44like nothing happen at an arguably higher rate.
- 13:48All right anyways, next nominee PewDiePie history of being a
- 13:52literal schnauzzi online and saying the N word now a sweet
- 13:56relatable family man James Charles engaging with minors and
- 14:00also now making content like everything is normal and still
- 14:04has an audience. Well, let's give it up for our
- 14:07nominees people. They are certainly here.
- 14:10And see, you can definitely see that these influencers either
- 14:12reinvented themselves or had major comebacks after some
- 14:15egregious acts at best, in literal criminal activity at
- 14:19worst. And again, they were still able
- 14:20to rebrand and still have an audience to this day.
- 14:23But now someone who wants to rebrand in an arguably positive
- 14:26direction, even if it is performative or seemingly a cash
- 14:29grab, is being yelled at and being held accountable, but not
- 14:32for any of the stuff that actually needs to be held
- 14:34accountable for. Like if the crime is being
- 14:35performative, then perform got OK, do whatever you got to do.
- 14:39But it's making these kids pick up a guy.
- 14:40Look OK, the average American is reading at a fifth grade level.
- 14:43Like someone needs to do something.
- 14:45And I just want to say that these content creator
- 14:47comparisons are not comparable at all in terms of action.
- 14:50Like I'm not saying that Kaisenat is at the same level at
- 14:52all as like the James Charles is the Cody KO's, the Pewdiepie's
- 14:55of it all. But this is more so to speak to
- 14:57the conversation of like, look who's able to come back from a
- 14:59significant change, specifically a negative change, and still be
- 15:02here making content and making money.
- 15:03And like, not to racialize this, but like, let's racialize it for
- 15:07a second. The white creators just
- 15:08mentioned hit some serious offenses and again, not saying
- 15:11what Kai has done in the past isn't harmful, but some of these
- 15:14other people committed literal crimes and were still able to
- 15:17come back to God's Internet and continue their careers OK.
- 15:20They just had to shift the content around a bit.
- 15:21Like evil white men can literally do anything and still
- 15:24be successful thereafter. But God forbid a black content
- 15:27creator or just a general content creator of color
- 15:29switches it up or just tries to better themself in the name of
- 15:31self improvement and then all of a sudden it's Courtney, it's
- 15:34inauthentic, it's a cash grab and you should get off the
- 15:36Internet. Like Kai changing his content is
- 15:37nowhere near the level of this of course, but the fact that
- 15:40there is almost a double standard of what gets persecuted
- 15:43on the Internet is telling. And that brings me to the whole
- 15:45concept of shaming and clowning a black man for reading.
- 15:47Like honestly to me that is crazy.
- 15:49Like y'all are seeing this right?
- 15:51I feel like reading has become more of a conversation on the
- 15:53Internet for a while now with many people saying that they
- 15:55used to read and want to get back into it's help train or
- 15:57better their attention span. So if that's the case why then
- 16:00are we judging someone who already streams in their daily
- 16:03life streaming themselves? Reading like this is really such
- 16:05a non issue for real. And like, I get it, that might
- 16:07not be what the initial audience was there because the content
- 16:10that the initial audience signed up for was a bunch of
- 16:12explosions, a bunch of screaming it honestly over stimulation
- 16:14nation. But the fact that he's trying to
- 16:15drastically change his life like this should not bring the state
- 16:18of his mental health or the state of his brand in question.
- 16:21Because let's get into the grift allegations because I think we
- 16:23forget what words mean after so long of just regurgitating them.
- 16:26A grift is quite literally to engage in petty or small scale
- 16:29swindling. Like for example, when all these
- 16:31podcasters started supporting Trump for a check and realized
- 16:34that that wasn't the way to go when his policies actually then
- 16:37impacted their bottom dollar. And I guess in Kaisa tuition,
- 16:39the only murky thing here is that maybe he's using his
- 16:41platform to get people to buy his brand and even then,
- 16:44everyone with a platform does that.
- 16:46Like I think I'm just not seeing the net negative here.
- 16:48Like trust and believe. I am a skeptic most of the time.
- 16:51And sure, there definitely is still a mystery afoot and only
- 16:54time will tell if this is truly a grip or not.
- 16:56But to me, Kai posting videos of him learning how to sew and get
- 16:59into fashion is literally fine. Like yes, OK, learning new
- 17:03skill. And before you say I know that
- 17:05the argument is that he can get into fashion and learn to sew
- 17:07without commercializing it and modifying it literally right off
- 17:10the jump into a fashion line, which is a valid critique.
- 17:12But also this man has quite literally commodified every
- 17:15other aspect of his life just like any other influencer and
- 17:18streamer. Like to me at least, this just
- 17:20seems like a natural step. And not just that this behavior
- 17:22isn't new for creators. Like there are many influencers
- 17:25in the millions here around his size that have gone off to other
- 17:28industries. Like if you really want to clock
- 17:30it, these rich white influencers be doing literally any and
- 17:33everything. Like love her down, but did you
- 17:34ever see Miss Emma Chamberlain reporting live from the coffee
- 17:36field? Or like the roastery?
- 17:38Did y'all see David Dilbrick have some kind of culinary
- 17:40experience that I didn't know about that made him the perfect
- 17:43person to open a pizzeria? And then there's other honorable
- 17:46mentions like Mr. B's Feastables and the Paul brothers and KSI's
- 17:49and Lunch Lee snack packs that had mold in them and Kodico's
- 17:52oatmeal brand after the statutory allegations.
- 17:54Like not saying that it's bad to start a brand out of nowhere,
- 17:56but it can be argued that all of these are cash grabs and they
- 17:59all had less transparency than what Kai is trying to put out
- 18:01there. For a product that is not even
- 18:03out yet. However, it still has people
- 18:05concerned about it being a potential grift.
- 18:06Like, it just really gives YouTube with a book deal and
- 18:08like, maybe a ghost of the 20 tens, but just maybe a more
- 18:11lucrative version for the times. Like, do we not feel like this
- 18:13is just part of the course? Like, I don't know how you feel
- 18:15about Kaisenet doing this is up to you.
- 18:17And time will tell his intentions.
- 18:19But we really can't act brand new about how when people get
- 18:21money to do what they want, they then go and do that.
- 18:24All in all, I think like, yeah, Kaisenet isn't getting a Nobel
- 18:26Peace Prize anytime soon. And it can be argued that his
- 18:29content and audience cultivation can be actually harmful for
- 18:31certain audiences to consume. But I think this change in this
- 18:34pivot kicked up a lot more negative feedback than it maybe
- 18:36should have. And also, don't lie to me.
- 18:38This is about what holding people accountable looks like.
- 18:40Like if it was, people would have been holding the pitchforks
- 18:43way before this. OK Like this is literally just
- 18:46about him switching it up temporarily leaving the
- 18:48shenanigans and at worst pursuing other shenanigans and
- 18:50at best elevating himself and his brand.
- 18:53And at the end of the day we got to be real, the fans don't
- 18:55really care about accountability in his case.
- 18:57So what's truly the issue here? Like I would understand if the
- 18:59conversation was about like the past acts of misogynistic
- 19:02rhetoric or platforming abuse. It's not being cool and taking
- 19:05accountability in that sense. But like his fans literally
- 19:07don't care about that and haven't cared about that.
- 19:09So what's really tea Like truly none of this discourse really
- 19:12matters. Like this is some deeply online
- 19:14for real and truly the biggest non issue in the grand scheme.
- 19:17But I think looking at how we react to different people and
- 19:20acting essentially similar rebranding or reinvention ways
- 19:23on the Internet is interesting to talk about.
- 19:25Because the gatekeeping of reinvention and evolution online
- 19:27seems to be falling on more racialized lines than we
- 19:30initially thought. Because yes, two things can be
- 19:32true and exist at once. But if you are cool with literal
- 19:34racists and criminals and don't want to have the real
- 19:37conversations about the real issues with streamers, please
- 19:39don't get my face by no costing that.
