Lewes, Delaware, is keeping a digital eye on its beaches with a groundbreaking 30-minute snapshot camera system tracking sand movement—especially during storms—to guide future beach replenishment. Led by the Delaware Geological Survey, the pilot project ended in April but scientists want to keep it going, with plans to expand the network of cameras—some fixed, some mobile—and even turn them off during summer to respect privacy.
