We'll learn a few simple phrases for a visit to the salon. Luna: Yes please. Okay, first thing — I need to tell them I want a haircut. Lucas: Right. So you say: Ich möchte einen Haarschnitt. Luna: Ich möchte einen Haarschnitt. What does that mean exactly? Lucas: It means 'I would like a haircut.' Ich möchte is 'I would like', and einen Haarschnitt is 'a haircut'. Luna: Ich möchte einen Haarschnitt. That feels good. Let me try it again. Lucas: Go ahead. Luna: Ich möchte einen Haarschnitt. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you also want a wash, you can say: Bitte waschen und schneiden. Luna: Bitte waschen und schneiden. That's 'please wash and cut'? Lucas: Exactly. Waschen is wash, schneiden is cut. You can add bitte to be polite. Luna: Okay, so I could say: Ich möchte einen Haarschnitt. Bitte waschen und schneiden. Lucas: That's a great start. Now, what if they start cutting and it's still too long? Luna: I'd say: Kürzer, bitte. Lucas: Perfect. Kürzer, bitte — 'shorter, please'. Good. Luna: Kürzer, bitte.
