- 0:00SPEAKER_02: One of these days I'll keep up with you.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: But I think the part of that story here, we're all laughing here and having a great story, is but we keep going back there.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: We put ourselves around others that are gonna elevate and challenge us.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: And that's why people show up Monday.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: You know, and they go to that speed workout.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: It's because I know this is gonna suck and it's gonna hurt, but I'm gonna like it.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna like the result.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: When it's done when it's done.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: When it's done when it's done.

- 1:39SPEAKER_00: And a fan favorite, What's in the garage?
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Today we're talking about the 2026 Dodge Charger.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: It's back, and the Scat Pack is where we started.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Why do we start with the Scat Pack?
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Well, you know why.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: It's got more horsepower.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: This thing is an all-wheel drive 550 horsepower, twin turbo, asphalt eating beast.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And here's the cool part.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Some of you are going, all-wheel drive, Matt.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Well, all-wheel drive handles better on the track.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And if you're looking to burn anybody from light to light, all-wheel drive is going to get you that launch.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Now, if you want to have some fun back to your teenage years, you just simply hit a button, go to rear-wheel drive, and you can smoke the tires up.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Burnout mode.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Burnout mode.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I'm in.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: I'm done.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: You got a mic dad in the chat, don't you?
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: I got my checkbook.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Let's get it.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: You were like on the edge.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: And nobody says burnout mode.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: You're like, I'm done.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: They were smart enough to know.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: And you say, why scat pack?
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: It's because when Dodge does something, they're just like, yeah, let's just put the biggest, most powerful, all the stuff, all the technology.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: So they took this Eevee powered charger and said, we got to add some horsepower.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: It's got to sound like muscle.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: And so they did it.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So 3.90 to 60, handle's incredible in the all-wheel drive.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: All the new tech.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: This one's got the entire glass roof, too.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: And you know, you mentioned it the other day, but it's a hatchback, so you open it up so we kind of go back to the 90s.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Which is pretty cool.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Let's go.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Love it.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Hey, let's get to this episode.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I can't wait to hear some of the stories and some of the wisdom that comes out of this conversation here.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: As I said before, we've got Mike Rush in the studio here.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: You know, Mike started, you started running in middle school and haven't looked back since.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: You know, he continued his running career at the University of Arkansas and is coached at at Fayville High and local runners in the thousands, I'm gonna say, because I've seen you chasing people with your pitchfork.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Uh at all distances from 5K to the marathon to ultras and beyond.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: He's the uh founder and owner of Rush Running right here in Northwest Arkansas, that is a specialty run shop rooted in community performance and lifelong passion for the sport.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: At University of Arkansas track and field alum, he's built Rush Running into a hub for runners of all levels, offering expert shoe fitting, training groups, race support, and deep community involvement.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: His belief is simple: running can change lives, and strong local businesses help build strong communities.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: And those aren't just words that Mike has said and put together.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: In fact, he backs it up with uh tons of medals.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Rush Running has received the prestigious award of the top 50 running stores, not once or twice, but from the year 2013 to 2025 without missing a beat.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: And in 2018, Mike, you were the number one running store in the entire United States.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Yep, that uh that freaked me out because that's a very hard award to to get.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: And it was always a dream.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: And honestly, thanks to staff, uh, we were able to win that year.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Isn't that so important of, you know, we talk about that as business leaders, of the staff.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Like you cast the vision, you set the tone for the culture, but the staff's the one that carries that out.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh definitely.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Staff it I always say if your staff is happy, your customer is happy.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: So you take care of your staff, pay them well, they like, they like shoes, which uh we have in abundance, uh, and you just treat them well, then they will bend over backwards for you and the person that walks in the store.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: I think that you you hit on something we've talked about before that most business leaders for forget about out there.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: And what we've got a saying is we talk about our internal customer, those are staffed.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: If we don't get our internal customer bought in first, how do we ever expect our external customer to have great experience?
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell Exactly.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: We when we bring staff in for interviews, they go through multiple interviews with staff, and we always say, do we want them on our bus?
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: And and in the end, it's a vote for do they belong on our bus?
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Are they gonna be fully bought in and they gonna actually serve the community and be out in the community and help people beyond just when they walk in the door?
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: And man, if they check all those boxes, come on.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Come on.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: I bring them, I bring them in.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Because you can teach them about the shoes.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: We can teach them what the different nutrition and shoelaces and all that stuff, but what type of person they are and do they fit the culture.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: You know, that's that's so important.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: That's so important.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: I told you we might get off subject.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: We started right off the top.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: Man, I'm gonna go further off subject.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: So the first thing is developing people, but not just performance.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: But I need to say, like, I don't know when I initially met you, like, I whatever, I don't have the greatest memory of like this day or this time, but one of my fondest memories is going to the chili pepper race, right?
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: Local uh Joe Fennel, grandpa Tom Lewis had a little something into that.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: And so I remember going as a kid, and this is not the memory I'm speaking of, but as a grown-up, actually running, right?
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: Uh, I remember seeing Mike Rush in an open race, whether it be a 5K open or 10K open, and you always had a costume on.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Why this costume?
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: I was the Chili Pepper man.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: So it it started like the Chili Pepper when it was a five-miler in 1989.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Um, that was my first race.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: And ever since then, it was always taken so seriously by me through through um junior high, through high school, through college, definitely at the U of A.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: So then when I graduated and I didn't have to be serious anymore, I was like, I'm gonna make this, I'm gonna make this fun.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: So Wade Calwell and Ricky Williams, two old school uh veterans of the running community here in Fayetteville, they would what stands out in my mind, they dressed as a chain game.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: They were chained together for a 10K computer.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: And after that, I was like, oh, I'm I'm going all in.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: So I'd body paint, I've had custom made chili pepper as a pepper suit.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: I do it all up, and then I'd always make John, my college coach, uh take pictures with me, which I've proudly hung in my office.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: But uh no, and it's a reaction of people, because you know, those races you you run by sometimes, and like you have to get people to clap for you.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no doubt.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: When you come by as the chili pepper man, everybody starts cheating.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: So everybody around me gets excited and pumped up.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: So and I heckle people, so I like it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: That's the fun, and like some of the things that I love.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: That's what I love about trail running versus road running.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: Now, road running, like some good marathons, there's good entertainment out there.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like Route 66, it's like, uh, what's this mile gonna bring?
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: What's this mile gonna bring?
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: There's a good entertainment on the trail.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: It's just like a whole different animal.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Like this aid station, these people are gonna be dressed up wild and they're gonna have this kind of food.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: And so I love that about you and Chili Pepper when it is all about shaving a tenth and how do you get through that swarm of thousands of people off the starting line.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: And then here Mike Rush was wearing a rubber ducky.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's yeah, I remember because my shoulders were on fire.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: It was a great idea.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: I thought it was arms to run.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Remember that year, there was this much water.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: I had a different costume, but after all the rain, I was like, I I gotta get a rubber ducky, right?
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: And I the only one I could find was this huge inflatable one, and I ran that 10K with that, and I mean my arms hurt for three weeks afterwards.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: That was the biggest mistake.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: I remember that, right?
- 9:27SPEAKER_02: I don't remember who won or who was the fastest or what college team be what college team, but I remember Mike Rush, it was pouring down rain, and there was so much water, and he had a rubber ducky running like this.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: That's been a minute.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: It's been a minute, man.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: So that like that's the culture that you bring, and I I know this, right?
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: But the culture you bring of the running community, and then also throughout your store of just like have fun, right?
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Have fun.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: And people remember that more than they will, like, hey, well, someone so has a different shoe available, or maybe saves 10 cents or whatever it may be, right?
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: So, what do you think separates a good coach or a leader versus a great one?
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: So good or great, coach or a leader.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: Honestly, if if they care about their athletes or do they care about their employees, do they care about their customers?
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: And um, what I always try to remember is that in the end, these are all people.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: You don't know what they're going through every day.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: And if I can help them this much be a little happier in life or um attain goals in their life, whether it be, you know, graduating college and trying to find a job, giving the reference, or or helping somebody get through their first 5K when they came in the door saying, I'm not a runner.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: That's that's my challenge.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Is well, by the time I'm done with you, you're gonna say you're a runner.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I just uh I really like to watch people develop and change, whatever their goal is.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: So from intro of how to sign up for that 5K or to be a little bit faster or better, how do you push people to be better without completely breaking them?
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: And by breaking, I mean that they quit.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: What's that fine edge of pushing on there?
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: It's patience.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: They're not nobody's gonna get faster overnight.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: So my my two words I say is patience and consistency.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: And if they stick with those things, um, they'll see a difference in just three or four weeks.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: So I got my speed group on Monday night.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: And so walk us through that.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: What's what's going on there?
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Um from the beginning?
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: Well, however you want to say.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: So I I started that 18 years ago.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Um, I I just opened, I was in the shop, there was a couple of guys in there talking about running, and I was like, Well, I'm I'm gonna go to the track tonight at about six and do my workout, and didn't think anything else of it.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: I showed up, there was 24 people there, and I was just like, ooh, okay.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: So we all did a workout.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: And then every Monday after for 18 years, I've been doing this to where um we just had in the freezing cold 130 people uh show up, which is crazy because I heard them.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Like I'm trying to hurt them.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I get them consistent, and I'm like, if you take three or four weeks of this Monday night speed session and you're just running regular throughout the week, you will see and feel a result.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: And all you gotta do is convince them once, yeah.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Show them once that they can do this, they can excel.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: And what I love is now I, you know, come to Monday night after a weekend of racing, and everybody's like, I just BR'd Saturday at such and such race.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: And that that's exciting because I'll I'll announce people's achievements at that, and they love that.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Man, they eat it up.
- 12:41SPEAKER_02: That's so good.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: You've built a commit uh community in that running with no revenue, no cost.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: You know, you think about that.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: That's just a community of people.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: Of the following that you built from day one, where 24 people showed up, and you were just saying, hey, tonight I'm gonna go run around the tiger track, you know, uh to now in the 10 degrees, all these people, 100 plus people will show up.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: Like that's so amazing of a good community, a good leader, you know, that just says, Hey, we're gonna go have fun, not having fun.
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: You're gonna find lactic threshold, you're you're gonna outrun your legs a little bit, all those things.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: That says a lot.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right?
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: That that's that's super cool.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: And uh, from the outside of like that's north, right?
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: And we're we're south, I guess.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: That's one of those things, like, man, that is so cool that they've built that, that people will just kind of travel from wherever to do that.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: I think as an entrepreneur, and and here's what I want everybody to get here is Mike's talked about his consistency there for 18 years on no admission.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: You're there.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: You're there.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Well, whether whether you just went through a surgery or your body's not feeling it, you're there consistently 18 years.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: And yeah, there was 24 people at first.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: You had 130 this last Monday.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: I'm assuming your biggest day is way bigger than that.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: Well, 166, and it was a hundred degrees in the summer, is our record.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: And you gotta think a five-lane track.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: That's pretty busy.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: I had people three groups at separate times trying to go.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: So it it there is a maximum of the yeah.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: No doubt, right?
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: But yeah, we found it.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Now we average, you know, the worst days are typically, you know, 70 to 80 people.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: So I think I think the point here is it took consistency and it took time, and it's still not initially generating any revenue.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: And you did it at first because of your love of running and just wanted to help each other out.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: Uh the byproduct is you help them get faster.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Where do they go for shoes and apparel?
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Hopefully they come see me.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: For sure.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: So I I think as everybody listening out there, we all want to quantify things instantly.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: And some things we can today, but other things are long-term play.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: And y'all have heard us talk about this on the podcast before.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: But what are you doing?
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: You have to have a balance of both of what brings in revenue today, right now to pay the bills, but then what also sets up for recurring revenue in the future because you're putting in something that might not a cost anybody today at all.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Well, honestly, I I really don't try to do anything for today to bring in revenue today.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: My my plan is long term.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: I'm from here.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Um graduated from Fayetteville High School, went to U of A.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: My kids run in Northwest Arkansas.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Thankfully, they both are runners.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: My wife still runs really fast.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: And my my whole thing is the long game.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: Like what I do in the community.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, I help over 50 charity races only a year.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: Um we do our two charity trail runs that benefit people locally.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: Um I just believe in if if you do enough good things, good things will come back to you.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: And so far it's worked 18 years and store of the year because of my customer and my staff.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: Um I think it's I think it's working out my my strategy.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Well, your patience, commitment, and consistency is what pays off then.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Um it's easier to look back now, you know, 18 years later, than like when you're in the middle of it and nobody shows up, or you're in the middle of it and this doesn't work.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: But that consistency is just brick by brick.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: And then all of a sudden, then somebody's like, how does he do it?
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: He's so lucky, blah, blah, blah.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: No.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: Hey, that that that first couple years, I was buying a power bar on Sundays so I wouldn't have a zero dollar day.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: You want to talk about feeling panic and my wife sitting back like this, pregnant, going, is this the right idea?
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: Are you sure?
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Are you sure about that?
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was it was scary.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: But hey, I got a sugar mama.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: She has a really awesome job.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: So uh she lets me she lets me play.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: We always give you a hard time about that.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: We just love that.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: That's like, you know, she's she's always there supporting you for most of the time, right?
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: She puts up with a lot.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: But I have a really nice doghouse.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you do too.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: When I get in trouble a lot, I I live in the doghouse, so it's okay.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: You've learned to build yourself nice.
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: So, a random question for you.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Are you still the fastest in the household?
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: Household of four?
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: Oh, this is so that's the wrong question.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: Um, no.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Wow, he came out with the big questions, right?
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: That that hurts.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: But the people want to know.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: I'm proud.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm proud and I'm hurt because Miles, um, he's a senior.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: He is currently down to his last four colleges that he's about to pick to run in college.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Very proud.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: Um had a real moment the other day, dropping him off for a recruiting trip at the airport.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: I lost it.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: I lost it.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: First time.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: I thought I was fine.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Thought mommy was the one having problems, but no, I lost it.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: It was you, yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: Um, I can't beat Miles.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: Now, I will tell you this.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: There's an asterisk.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: There's an asterisk.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Right, hit us with it.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: If Miles screws around and lets me be within with him with 200 to go, you got him.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna take his heart.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: I was gonna say, is it because you're gonna outrun him or just gonna you're gonna just like sucker punch?
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna kick him down.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna I I still got leg speed, but the problem is he knows that.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Uh he was.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: So he's not gonna give you that 200 to go.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Last last time, this was this was um last summer.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Every summer before school starts, before practice gets hot and heavy, we'd go do hill repeats and we'd do a little sprint, and I'd take him.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: Last summer, we did one.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: And he beat me.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: And like, I was like, I just wasn't warmed up yet.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: I wasn't listening.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: And I was like, let's do it again.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: We did it three times.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: The third time I stopped halfway and I was just started walking down the hill, and Allie was there taking pictures, and she just she just looked at it, she goes, You lose it, old man.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I'm done.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: I just gave up my throne.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: That's so hard because that's what you want.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right?
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: That you've been able to build that in your boys, but it's so hard, it's like the button, right?
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: Like, but I'm proud.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: I'm right.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: That that is super proud.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: And now you're just gonna have to.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: This is Matt and I's equator.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: Like, it's like we better go distance.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: Better go distance, right?
- 19:17SPEAKER_02: We better we have never been at your level of fast.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: We just hadn't ran and you know, don't have that, but it's like, let's go distance.
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: I think we can grid it out further than somebody else.
