- 0:22SPEAKER_00: There are a lot of advantages to being an introverted writer.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: You enjoy being alone, which is a big benefit when trying to finish your writing.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: You'd mostly rather spend time with books than people, which can help you dive deeply into literature and learning.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: You'd rather observe than participate, which can help you approach life like a journalist or researcher.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: However, those same tendencies can sometimes backfire on us.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Those same strengths that help us become great writers can make it hard for us to build an audience, which is something that every writer must do.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: So here are three quick tips for introverted writers on building an audience.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Number one, don't be afraid to put yourself and your writing out there.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Life is not all about observing others or writing about other people's experiences.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: We want to hear what you have experienced and what you have to say about your topic.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Number two, get out there and have real conversations with actual human beings.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: As introverts, we often live in our heads and we avoid life in the real world.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: But this is where the action happens.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Don't think of people as exhausting.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, let's be honest, people can be exhausting, but in reality, you and I can be exhausting to other people as well.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: So don't think of other people as just exhausting.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Instead, think of them as your best teachers and the reason that you do what you do.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: After all, we do this for other people, right?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And number three, don't overanalyze this process.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Just start writing and course correct as you go.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: You've got to let go of this need to be perfect and have everything figured out all the time.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Just relax, get to work, and know that you are smart, you're intelligent, and you will figure it out as you go along.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: The bottom line is that your greatest strength can also be your greatest liability.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: So don't get sucked into the lie that people are the enemy.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: You're there to serve them, enjoy them, and learn from them.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Here's today's challenge.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Choose one of these three tips and put it into practice today.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Don't wait, don't overanalyze it, don't overthink it.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Just choose one tip and do it.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And I think you'll be surprised to see what happens.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening, and I'll see you next time.
