- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey, everyone, welcome to a very special episode of the
- 0:08Speaker 2: Almost Famous Podcast. I am sitting here and I know
- 0:10Speaker 2: Ben's gonna be jealous of this interview because we've separated
- 0:13Speaker 2: these Bachelor Mansion house interviews and I'm sitting here with
- 0:18Speaker 2: the Faith Martin, who I thought was the front runner?
- 0:21Speaker 3: Who I was?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Faith?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Did I make you cry?
- 0:25Speaker 2: I didn't cry, but my jaw was on the floor, like,
- 0:28Speaker 2: and you know people say that as an expression, but
- 0:30Speaker 2: my jaw really did drop. So we have David Archiletta
- 0:34Speaker 2: in the house here also because we're doing like a
- 0:36Speaker 2: boy band reunion in the house. And I'm just rambling now,
- 0:38Speaker 2: but like, it reminded me. Your elimination reminded me of
- 0:42Speaker 2: an old school American Idle episode where like or Chris
- 0:47Speaker 2: Daughtry or someone is eliminated.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I watched that season with Chris Daughtry's amazing.
- 0:52Speaker 2: That's when America watched all together, Yes, and we were
- 0:56Speaker 2: all shocked together. And that's how I felt like when
- 0:58Speaker 2: he sent you home actually after that hometown, I know you.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Yes, well you know it's interesting because I think you
- 1:06Speaker 4: know they say you have a brain in your gut.
- 1:08Speaker 4: And even though logically I felt like I had the
- 1:10Speaker 4: best home date ever, I was on you know, cloud nine.
- 1:13Speaker 4: I thought it was just amazing. I thought it could
- 1:15Speaker 4: not have gone any better. But it was strange that
- 1:18Speaker 4: in between that and the hometowns, my stomach was telling
- 1:21Speaker 4: me different. It just was telling me something wasn't quite right.
- 1:24Speaker 4: And of course he's going to hometowns with other women,
- 1:27Speaker 4: so I knew that, right, But you know, there was
- 1:29Speaker 4: something that somehow an intuitive sense to me felt like
- 1:33Speaker 4: it could not possibly go my way. You know, that
- 1:36Speaker 4: was an option, and so I was really unsure about
- 1:38Speaker 4: the whole thing. And I should have felt more confident
- 1:40Speaker 4: if it was right, you know.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So, but faith, I felt like watching all those three
- 1:45Speaker 2: hometowns that he was most vocal about his feelings for you.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So are you annoyed at all at the fact that
- 1:55Speaker 2: he was so vocal with all three of you women.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I wasn't at all until I watched him with Life,
- 2:01Speaker 3: you know.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Then I was annoyed for her because I think when
- 2:03Speaker 4: it got down to that, that was a little harder,
- 2:06Speaker 4: you know, seeing that she got so far and it
- 2:09Speaker 4: looked like it was going to be less.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Talking about you, You're saying beyond hometown weeks and when
- 2:13Speaker 2: it's between her.
- 2:15Speaker 4: So yeah, just looking back on the whole thing, I'm
- 2:17Speaker 4: not annoyed at all. I mean, we know what we
- 2:19Speaker 4: signed up for, and I don't think it's ever a
- 2:21Speaker 4: bad thing to be loved. So if somebody loves you,
- 2:25Speaker 4: whether it's a reason, a season, or a lifetime, they
- 2:27Speaker 4: love you in the moment, I think I think you
- 2:29Speaker 4: can only be grateful that they expressed that, because that's
- 2:32Speaker 4: what the world is about.
- 2:33Speaker 3: You know, if you love someone, go ahead and tell
- 2:35Speaker 3: them it.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Mate doesn't mean you know, if we're all so afraid
- 2:38Speaker 4: to say I love you, if it won't last forever.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Nobody would say it, you know. So I think it's okay.
- 2:43Speaker 4: I don't fault Gary for telling people that he loved them.
- 2:46Speaker 4: And that's how I was thinking this whole time. But
- 2:48Speaker 4: then tonight when I was watching and I was seeing
- 2:50Speaker 4: Gary telling Leslie she's the one and you know, all
- 2:52Speaker 4: that stuff, then I was like, okay, wait a minute,
- 2:55Speaker 4: that's not fair. So, you know, when it's about me,
- 2:57Speaker 4: I'm okay with that. When it's about somebody else, I'm
- 2:59Speaker 4: a little bit more protective. I think so it was
- 3:02Speaker 4: a little.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Bit of leading on And I have mentioned that, like,
- 3:05Speaker 2: it's because it's from sweet, wholesome Gary, who is sweet
- 3:09Speaker 2: and wholesome and a wonderful gentleman. Yeah, but if it
- 3:12Speaker 2: were somebody who was thirty two on the main show
- 3:15Speaker 2: saying these, he would be like the Bachelor fandom would
- 3:21Speaker 2: just be ripping him to sah.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Well, I think too, like nobody knows until you're in
- 3:25Speaker 4: those shoes just how intensely emotional and how the heightened
- 3:32Speaker 4: emotions of what you're going through is different than anything
- 3:35Speaker 4: you've experienced. So I feel like if you are one
- 3:38Speaker 4: that can stay in the moment and stay present, and
- 3:41Speaker 4: I think Gary did a great job of allowing himself
- 3:45Speaker 4: to be completely engaged in what he was into at
- 3:48Speaker 4: the moment, and he did feel those feelings, and he
- 3:51Speaker 4: did have genuine love for those women, all of us.
- 3:55Speaker 4: And so you can't fault the guy for that, right,
- 3:58Speaker 4: you know, you just can't. I think he led with
- 4:01Speaker 4: his heart, and you know, I think he made the
- 4:04Speaker 4: best choice in the outcome is good.
- 4:05Speaker 3: But that's the risk we all take, you know.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Tonight we found out that Teresa and he will be
- 4:11Speaker 2: married yes on January. Course, this is fast fast in September.
- 4:18Speaker 2: How do you feel about this?
- 4:20Speaker 4: I had a feeling when they said there was going
- 4:21Speaker 4: to be announcement. I was like, oh my gosh, they're
- 4:23Speaker 4: going to announce their wedding date, and I think it
- 4:24Speaker 4: will be right away. And because you know, like Gary said,
- 4:28Speaker 4: at this age, why wait, Like, let's do it now?
- 4:31Speaker 3: We don't.
- 4:31Speaker 4: They don't really have time to waste. You know, there's
- 4:33Speaker 4: seventy and seventy two years old, seventy one and seventy two, Like,
- 4:36Speaker 4: if they know they want to be together, why not
- 4:38Speaker 4: do it?
- 4:38Speaker 2: You know?
- 4:39Speaker 4: I had met my husband and we kissed and got
- 4:41Speaker 4: married eight days later and it lasted twenty one years.
- 4:43Speaker 4: So I think, you know kind of what life is
- 4:47Speaker 4: all about. You got to go for it. You know,
- 4:49Speaker 4: why why should they wait? You know?
- 4:51Speaker 3: And were you surprised it was Teresa?
- 4:53Speaker 2: Because no, once really Okay, so I need to know
- 4:55Speaker 2: all this, but I do want you to know that
- 4:57Speaker 2: like once you were eliminated, which I was shockedalke by tonight,
- 5:01Speaker 2: I was spoiler free until tonight. I was again just
- 5:06Speaker 2: mind blown that it was Teresa and not Leslie. And
- 5:09Speaker 2: I do feel like you and Leslie were a little
- 5:11Speaker 2: bit more similar, and then Theresa was more of the
- 5:15Speaker 2: outlier and the top three because I feel like you
- 5:18Speaker 2: and Leslie carry yourself a little bit more in like
- 5:21Speaker 2: a sexy fashion.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Well, thank you.
- 5:24Speaker 4: No, you know, I was not surprised, because this is
- 5:27Speaker 4: why since day one, I would watch how Gary would
- 5:31Speaker 4: look at all the other women. You know what it's
- 5:32Speaker 4: like to be a woman. You know, you're watching your guy.
- 5:35Speaker 4: You can tell if he thinks somebody else in the
- 5:36Speaker 4: room is attractive. That's kind of how I did. I
- 5:40Speaker 4: was like, I thought, maybe he's going to fall in
- 5:42Speaker 4: love with Ellen. So I'm looking at Ellen and I'm
- 5:45Speaker 4: watching him watch her, and I was like, no.
- 5:47Speaker 3: He doesn't love Ellen, he doesn't love on.
- 5:49Speaker 4: I'm like watching him with The surprise was that I
- 5:52Speaker 4: didn't see a really big connect with him and Leslie ever.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Oh but I totally saw it with Teresa from day one.
- 5:59Speaker 3: And it was weird. We would be at the Rose
- 6:01Speaker 3: ceremony and I'm going.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Oh my god, he's totally googly eyeing Theresa. Every time
- 6:06Speaker 4: they would look at each other, he'd have this little
- 6:08Speaker 4: googly eye thing going on. I was like, serious, it's Teresa.
- 6:12Speaker 4: So I felt like that all along that she was
- 6:14Speaker 4: going to be either the winner, you know, he would
- 6:18Speaker 4: choose her or she would be right up there clothes.
- 6:21Speaker 4: So and they had so many things in alignment with
- 6:23Speaker 4: their life, with their past relationships, with their going to
- 6:26Speaker 4: help them, their commonalities. They're very traditional. They you know,
- 6:30Speaker 4: they really are a really compatible couple.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I think.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So, why do you think that during hometowns she was
- 6:36Speaker 2: the one that he didn't.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Say I love you too. I don't know, because that
- 6:41Speaker 3: threw us off.
- 6:42Speaker 4: It did, And I wonder if he I think he
- 6:44Speaker 4: said I love you to me pretty quickly. And it
- 6:47Speaker 4: was funny because my sister, if you remember, in my hometown,
- 6:49Speaker 4: my sister goes, you know, Gary was going to have
- 6:52Speaker 4: to leave and go to the other hometowns.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and he said.
- 6:56Speaker 4: My sister goes, I know you love Faith and you
- 6:58Speaker 4: want it to be her. And I go, oh, my god,
- 7:00Speaker 4: did you just say that out loud? I was embarrassed, right,
- 7:03Speaker 4: And then he goes, I would say it out loud,
- 7:05Speaker 4: and he goes, would you say it out loud? And
- 7:06Speaker 4: I said, I'd say it out loud and he goes,
- 7:08Speaker 4: I love you, and I go, I love you too.
- 7:09Speaker 4: That was so meaningful to me. And honestly, I was
- 7:12Speaker 4: the first hometown.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Okay, so it was a little out of order in
- 7:15Speaker 2: the airing, which I am.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I allowed to say it, but yeah, so and then
- 7:19Speaker 4: I think he kind of thought, oh, I better not
- 7:21Speaker 4: be so quick to say that, and so then he
- 7:23Speaker 4: held off with Teresa, okay, and then I don't know
- 7:26Speaker 4: what you know. I'm just guessing. I really don't know.
- 7:28Speaker 4: But yeah, it shocked me too. I mean, I'm not
- 7:31Speaker 4: gonna lie. It was hard. It was really hard.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So when you saw Gary again tonight in person, Yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 2: how did that feel? Because I know this sounds like
- 7:50Speaker 2: I remember being on the Bachelor, and I knew very
- 7:54Speaker 2: well that Chrystals wasn't my husband as soon as I
- 7:58Speaker 2: like got on that plane home, you know, I like, yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 2: that did make sense for a reason. But like when
- 8:03Speaker 2: you see them at the reunion show, your heart still drops.
- 8:06Speaker 4: I still am perplexed at my emotions at the show.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I get teered up.
- 8:10Speaker 4: At lunch today, somebody said something we were talking about
- 8:12Speaker 4: Gary and I get teared up. I don't understand it
- 8:15Speaker 4: why because logically I'm over the moon happy for him
- 8:19Speaker 4: and Teresa, I really am. Logically, I think their lives
- 8:22Speaker 4: are way better aligned. I think he made the right choice.
- 8:26Speaker 4: But I still have times where I get really emotional
- 8:28Speaker 4: about it, and I don't even like I want to
- 8:29Speaker 4: smack myself in the head and go, what is wrong
- 8:31Speaker 4: with you?
- 8:31Speaker 2: Stop?
- 8:32Speaker 4: But yet I'll see something or somebody will say something,
- 8:35Speaker 4: I'll start talking about it, and I get all choked up.
- 8:37Speaker 4: But it's the weirdest thing. I wouldn't believe it if
- 8:39Speaker 4: I didn't live it. I don't know what is going
- 8:41Speaker 4: on with me?
- 8:42Speaker 2: What about what you will? Let's play that comparison game.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Do you think that your age plays a role? And
- 8:49Speaker 2: like you still being a little hung up on it.
- 8:52Speaker 2: It's also really fresh, like your season was filmed and
- 8:55Speaker 2: aired really quickly, and you know you just broke up
- 8:58Speaker 2: with him in September. Yeah, so I mean, come on,
- 9:01Speaker 2: we have two months under the belt. It's nothing.
- 9:03Speaker 3: But then thank you because that makes me feel a
- 9:05Speaker 3: little better. It's like a lifetime.
- 9:07Speaker 2: But you know, sometimes I think there's a Sex in
- 9:09Speaker 2: the City quote that said it takes half the amount
- 9:12Speaker 2: of time you're with somebody to get over them. I
- 9:14Speaker 2: actually think it sometimes it takes twice a man of it.
- 9:17Speaker 4: It's always taken me, you know, Like I was with
- 9:19Speaker 4: the guy once for three years. It took me six
- 9:21Speaker 4: years to get over him. I couldn't even tell you
- 9:23Speaker 4: who I went on a date with. I don't remember
- 9:24Speaker 4: their names. I don't remember their faces. I you know,
- 9:28Speaker 4: I just I kind of you know.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah, So you think it hurts more of being older
- 9:33Speaker 2: and heartbroken.
- 9:34Speaker 4: I know that when when I hear that he's going
- 9:38Speaker 4: to be happy, when I see him and Teresa together,
- 9:41Speaker 4: it it like heals the hole.
- 9:43Speaker 3: In my heart.
- 9:44Speaker 4: You know, I am really over the moon happy. It
- 9:46Speaker 4: just made my heart full to see that they're both happy,
- 9:49Speaker 4: and I think that's part of the healing, you know,
- 9:51Speaker 4: and to feeling like I can always love Gary and
- 9:54Speaker 4: he'll have a place in my heart, but I can
- 9:56Speaker 4: love him in a different form and just you know,
- 9:58Speaker 4: appreciate him moving forward in his life. And I think
- 10:01Speaker 4: we'll always be friends, you know. I'm friends with Teresa
- 10:03Speaker 4: and friends with Gary. So yeah, I think it'll just
- 10:07Speaker 4: take a little time. It is weird that it all
- 10:10Speaker 4: happens so quick, and I'm surprised at the deep feelings
- 10:13Speaker 4: that I have for sure, But it'll be okay.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Will that be weird for Gary or you to continue
- 10:20Speaker 2: a friendship with Teresa?
- 10:21Speaker 4: You know, I thought so at first, but I don't
- 10:24Speaker 4: think so. Gary is a gentleman and he's very kind,
- 10:27Speaker 4: and he wanted to check on me. He called it Thanksgiving.
- 10:29Speaker 4: He wanted to make sure I was okay. He's called
- 10:31Speaker 4: me a number of times. Teresa has called me, you know,
- 10:34Speaker 4: we talk all the time. I think I have so
- 10:38Speaker 4: much love for both of them, and I really am
- 10:40Speaker 4: just over the moon for them. And I feel like,
- 10:42Speaker 4: like Teresa goes, I know Gary loves you, and I
- 10:44Speaker 4: know you love Gary, and like, yeah, yeah, no, she
- 10:48Speaker 4: really is a lovely person. And the other thing is,
- 10:51Speaker 4: you know, you can love a person in so many
- 10:53Speaker 4: different forms. And I think the connection that I had
- 10:56Speaker 4: with Gary all along was more of kind of a heartfelt,
- 10:58Speaker 4: soulful connection, not a chemistry type of connection, where my
- 11:02Speaker 4: past relationships were maybe more chemistry ish. And so I
- 11:07Speaker 4: think it really is just a long standing friendship. And
- 11:10Speaker 4: I think Teresa knows that I would never be inappropriate,
- 11:12Speaker 4: I would never want anything more. I am thrilled over
- 11:15Speaker 4: the moon for both of them, and I feel like
- 11:16Speaker 4: all three of us could be friends and it shouldn't
- 11:18Speaker 4: feel weird at all.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Oh, that's so nice, that's really nice. She seems like
- 11:21Speaker 2: a really sweet.
- 11:22Speaker 4: She's lovely, she's lovely. And the thing, you know, when
- 11:25Speaker 4: we talk about those traditional things, Teresa's very traditional, and
- 11:29Speaker 4: you know she will really dote over him and make
- 11:31Speaker 4: him a very lovely wife. Where I'm off roading my
- 11:34Speaker 4: motorcycle and my horse and I'm singing in a bandit
- 11:36Speaker 4: you know, right, So it wasn't really a very good alignment.
- 11:40Speaker 3: He used to always say.
- 11:41Speaker 4: He used to always say, like, we've been together for years,
- 11:43Speaker 4: but he would say, you're so fiercely independent, and I
- 11:46Speaker 4: kept thinking, well, I don't have to be. I would
- 11:47Speaker 4: hang out with you more. But then I thought, if
- 11:49Speaker 4: I'm in a recording session recording a song, is he
- 11:51Speaker 4: going to be okay that I'm gone for nine hours
- 11:53Speaker 4: while he sits at home waiting for dinner?
- 11:56Speaker 3: You know, I mean, so our lives.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Maybe you also want to move, and it seemed a
- 12:01Speaker 2: little bit more open to moving.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I would love to move to California or Arizona
- 12:06Speaker 4: or someplace warm, you know, I know, because it's a
- 12:09Speaker 4: plane ride that's pretty quick. But Indiana oh hell no, Okay,
- 12:12Speaker 4: I don't want to be there. I really don't want
- 12:14Speaker 4: to be in Indiana.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Can you blame me?
- 12:17Speaker 2: That is where you need to have Ben come into
- 12:18Speaker 2: the conversation because he's from Indiana. Oh no, and he's
- 12:20Speaker 2: from a very close place from where it was.
- 12:24Speaker 4: So and maybe I'm judging too harshly because I mean,
- 12:26Speaker 4: it's a flyover state. Yeah, nobody stops Sarah goes there
- 12:29Speaker 4: for any good reason, I imagine.
- 12:30Speaker 3: But maybe it's nicer than I thought. I don't know.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Apparently they have a good lake life going, and we
- 12:35Speaker 2: heard it there was like there's some there's a lot
- 12:38Speaker 2: of crazy things that happened behind doors at the lakes
- 12:41Speaker 2: of Indiana. We'll talk about some other time. Yeah, but
- 12:43Speaker 2: I do want to I want to end with one question.
- 12:46Speaker 2: You are like kind of like you're singer, you're a
- 12:50Speaker 2: radio host. You definitely come across as like a badass woman,
- 12:53Speaker 2: and now people want you to possibly be the Golden Bachelorette.
- 12:57Speaker 2: What was your reaction when you were getting all of
- 12:59Speaker 2: those I felt like, since you finished third place, you
- 13:02Speaker 2: probably kind of expected that could be the chatter.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I had no idea.
- 13:06Speaker 4: What makes them choose whoever, I always thought it was
- 13:08Speaker 4: the runner up, so I didn't think that I would
- 13:10Speaker 4: even be not really see, I don't know.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I was too busy to watch the show.
- 13:15Speaker 4: I have watched The Bachelorette though, and oh my god,
- 13:17Speaker 4: I love charity so much. But anyway, Yeah, no, I
- 13:20Speaker 4: think it's a I think it would be an amazing
- 13:22Speaker 4: thing if they did the Bachelorette.
- 13:24Speaker 3: And who would say no to that? Because the process works.
- 13:27Speaker 3: I've lived it.
- 13:28Speaker 4: I know how you can fall in love in a
- 13:30Speaker 4: short time. I would, you know, I really don't know
- 13:33Speaker 4: how that goes, but it would be an amazing experience.
- 13:35Speaker 4: So you know I'm open to it for sure.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Well, we are rooting for you for that, I know.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I told you I was the most shocked about your
- 13:45Speaker 2: elimination and the one who I felt like I was
- 13:47Speaker 2: rooting for the most.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Sweet.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Well, we'll see where the road leads.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Yes, thank you, thank you.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So much for being here.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Yes, appreciate it.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I followed the Nashley I Almost Famous podcasts on iHeartRadio
