- 1:07Donna Jodhan: Hello there. My name is Donna J.
- 1:11Jodhan and I am the host of the remarkable biweekly world Commentary.
- 1:21I am an author. I am an advocate, a blogger,
- 1:26site loss coach, dinner mystery writer and producer,
- 1:31entrepreneur, law graduate and podcast commentator.
- 1:37You know, all of these roles that I presently engage in have enabled me to become more
- 1:45adept at what's going on in this world today.
- 1:51We are living in a fast paced, moving world and we got to keep up.
- 1:56And one way that I'm finding is that I can Express my thoughts,
- 2:03share them with you and ask you to write to me.
- 2:07Let me know what you're thinking.
- 2:10So if you'd like to write to me or reach out to me,
- 2:14please do so at Donna Jodhanat gmail.com.
- 2:20And thank you to my friend Erin Di Blasi for continuing to support me in my biweekly world
- 2:29commentary podcasts. And for this month, you know,
- 2:33this is probably an old topic, but I can't help but keep returning to this
- 2:41topic and I call it the Death Dilemma.
- 2:47In early January, when Donald Trump took office.
- 2:53He fulfilled one of his promises.
- 2:55Or he kept to one of his promises to get rid of D,
- 2:58e, I and D stands for Disability equity and inclusion.
- 3:05And as I sit here, I am wondering out loud if this policy of Donald Trump is going to
- 3:14filter across the border into Canada.
- 3:19I don't know. I'm seeing a mixed bag of things thus far.
- 3:27I'm wondering if companies are taking note if governmental departments of the Canadian
- 3:34government are also taking note.
- 3:37We have our own challenges here in Canada, but it's hard to tell unless we really keep
- 3:46up with what is going on.
- 3:49Some companies may quietly be disbanding their Dei policies here in Canada,
- 3:56but we must be very vigilant and we need to check to make sure that they are not.
- 4:04We know that in the United States this is going on.
- 4:08Well, what's happening here in Canada?
- 4:12What will replace the DEA dilemma?
- 4:16What will replace DEA policies?
- 4:20I, like many others, are very anxious to know what is going to happen.
- 4:28And we know that Dei is tied to accessibility.
- 4:32So how will this affect Canada?
- 4:36When we saw that when Prime Minister Khan took office at the end of April,
- 4:42he did not appoint or appoint a minister for disability issues.
- 4:49Something that we continue to lobby for, something that I hope and pray that he is
- 4:55listening to us and will do something about it.
- 4:59And you know, we will go along hoping and praying,
- 5:05all right, that things do not filter across the border.
- 5:11Okay. Accessibility may be a different process,
- 5:16but a lot of folks tie dye to disability, so it all remains to be seen what is going to
- 5:24happen here in Canada.
- 5:27And as the summer rolls on, we will be waiting and watching.
- 5:33I'm Donna Jordan, host of the remarkable bi weekly world commentary.
- 5:40Thank you for listening to me and wishing you a great day.
- 5:45Take care and stay safe.
