Speaker 1: Well, here at one leg of Alex Media. I can't
• 0:02
Speaker 1: think of two better things to do on Derby Day
• 0:06
Speaker 1: than watch the Derby at Long Island Ducks Ballpark, because
• 0:10
Speaker 1: two of my dad's favorite things to do. We're going
• 0:13
Speaker 1: to the ducks games and horse racing and Kentucky Derby Day.
• 0:16
Speaker 1: And you know, lou Turminello is online with me. I
• 0:18
Speaker 1: think you know this. Three derbies ago, I can't believe
• 0:22
Speaker 1: it's that long. Even four now, we honored my dad
• 0:25
Speaker 1: at his church and four derbies later we're carrying on.
• 0:29
Speaker 1: I can't believe how long three years ago went by.
• 0:31
Speaker 2: All Right, this is great, hey, Alex, and thanks for
• 0:35
Speaker 2: having me. As always, time does. There's no true a
• 0:38
Speaker 2: cliche than time flies. I mean it really does. Yeah,
• 0:44
  Speaker 2: Today's Derby Day. It's always a good day. I haven't
• 0:47
Speaker 2: followed thoroughbred horse racing this year, so happy.
• 0:54
Speaker 1: I love Mike Smith and I don't know if you
• 0:56
Speaker 1: know the story of the trainer, well lost his wife
• 0:58
Speaker 1: and that's how he got motivated to get into horse racing.
• 1:04
Speaker 1: It's a very emotional story for the trainer and Mike Smith,
• 1:07
Speaker 1: and hopefully it's so Happy wins it. But you know
• 1:10
Speaker 1: he gets the number one post today. Saint John's beneficiar,
• 1:14
Speaker 1: but what do you call it? Benefactor? Mike Ripley Repeley
• 1:17
Speaker 1: Stables at number one today, So.
• 1:20
Speaker 2: Uh, yeah, he is into He is into everything as obviously.
• 1:24
Speaker 2: He is involvable with not only Saint John's not only
• 1:27
Speaker 2: with horse racing. He's heavily involved with the at the
• 1:31
Speaker 2: Spring Football League, the United Football League. So uh And
• 1:35
Speaker 2: I think I told you guys, is when I was,
• 1:37
Speaker 2: you know, with the Nets about fifteen. No, it was
• 1:40
Speaker 2: twenty years ago, because I've been gone in December will
• 1:43
Speaker 2: be seventeen years. He was one. He was a potential
• 1:47
Speaker 2: buyer for the Nets about two decades ago. So he
• 1:51
Speaker 2: is into everything, mister.
• 1:52
Speaker 1: Reppoley and the trainer is Mark Glatt, and just a
• 1:58
Speaker 1: be precise here, the derby horse for Ripley Stables is
• 2:03
Speaker 1: at the one position renegade. So there you go.
• 2:07
  Speaker 2: So we'll see.
• 2:08
Speaker 1: And Ripley's only fifty seven, so he's making moves every year,
• 2:11
  Speaker 1: it seems like.
• 2:12
  Speaker 2: So he's a young man. He's got a long way
• 2:15
Speaker 2: to go, so we'll see.
• 2:16
Speaker 1: But you know, the one position is always tough. I
• 2:17
Speaker 1: always think that one position because that's where you really
• 2:21
Speaker 1: got to cut in more so than the others. It
• 2:23
Speaker 1: is a very tough position to be at. So we'll
• 2:25
Speaker 1: see what happens today.
• 2:26
Speaker 2: But we will see what happens, all right, I will
• 2:29
  Speaker 2: be watching.
• 2:29
Speaker 1: Well, if you're in New York State, how can you
• 2:33
Speaker 1: not be happy for Tape Thompson not only the USA
• 2:36
Speaker 1: Gold Meddal winner, but helping the Buffalos Abers get to
• 2:39
Speaker 1: a playoff series victory for the first time. And I
• 2:41
  Speaker 1: don't remember, it's been a while, but what a moment
• 2:45
Speaker 1: was in Boston, But still what a moment for Buffalo.
• 2:48
Speaker 2: Absolutely first time that day won a playoff series since
• 2:52
Speaker 2: two thousand and seven. That's nineteen seasons. In two thousand
• 2:56
Speaker 2: and seven, it's want to buy an iPhone in the
• 2:59
Speaker 2: United States of America, It wasn't available. That's how long
• 3:02
Speaker 2: it's been since the Sabers have won the playoff series. Look,
• 3:06
Speaker 2: we knew that the Sabers over the last three or
• 3:08
Speaker 2: four years were collecting young talent, and many people thought
• 3:12
Speaker 2: they would be in the playoffs two years ago, even
• 3:14
Speaker 2: last year, and and they didn't make it. But all
• 3:17
Speaker 2: that young talent finally matured and they have they have
• 3:23
Speaker 2: good team chemistry. They had their old coach back Lindy Ruff,
• 3:27
Speaker 2: who was the coach of the Devils in between his
• 3:31
Speaker 2: Buffalo stints and Alex. They won five games in this game.
• 3:38
Speaker 2: They won three games at Boston. Only only the first
• 3:42
Speaker 2: game when the Buffalo had that comeback in the third
• 3:45
Speaker 2: in the third period did the home team win Buffalo.
• 3:49
Speaker 2: Very impressive my Alex line. They switched goaltenders up two
• 3:55
Speaker 2: games to one, and Alex line was tremendous. But Alex,
• 4:01
Speaker 2: they have a deep team. They have a dangerous team,
• 4:05
Speaker 2: and they utilize all five players. I mean their defense.
• 4:10
Speaker 2: The defense men scored fifteen points in the series, so
• 4:14
Speaker 2: they they include everybody, have an excellent offensive team. And
• 4:20
Speaker 2: I was glad to see them see them advance. I
• 4:23
Speaker 2: was all right, Well.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: I will also say this. You know, the Jack Eichley
• 4:29
Speaker 1: area era was a low rough in Buffalo, but I
• 4:32
Speaker 1: always thought they would have a chance with him on
• 4:34
Speaker 1: that team, which has never paid out. I'm glad it's
• 4:36
Speaker 1: paying up for them now.
• 4:36
Speaker 2: But yeah, and it was good for Ichel. I mean,
• 4:39
Speaker 2: Michael had that serious neck injury, had to go for
• 4:42
Speaker 2: that serious knick surgery, and then Any won the Stanley
• 4:45
Speaker 2: Cup in Vegas, and who knows, maybe leve Vegas and
• 4:49
Speaker 2: the Buffalo in the finals. I mean I could I
• 4:52
Speaker 2: could see Buffalo continuing to move on. I think they're
• 4:56
  Speaker 2: that good.
• 4:57
Speaker 1: Even the Hurricanes will give everybody fits.
• 5:00
Speaker 2: That would be an interesting Yeah, it would be. And
• 5:03
Speaker 2: you talk about the Hurricanes, and the Hurricanes will be facing, uh,
• 5:07
Speaker 2: the Flyers starting tonight. And obviously we you know, we
• 5:13
Speaker 2: thought that we thought that Philadelphia would be Pittsburgh, which
• 5:16
Speaker 2: they did be plus Philly is you know, they're they're young,
• 5:20
Speaker 2: they're fast, they're tough. They played the series with you know,
• 5:26
Speaker 2: with great confidence. Uh. Porta Montane joining him after Michigan
• 5:32
Speaker 2: lost the National semifinal was a shot in the Army
• 5:35
Speaker 2: was great for them. He was great on the power
• 5:38
Speaker 2: play for them. The Flyers. The Flyers are good. The Flyers.
• 5:43
Speaker 2: The Flyers are But now I do if you're gonna
• 5:45
Speaker 2: ask me, do I think they're gonna beat Carolina four
• 5:49
Speaker 2: out of seven? I don't, But they're gonna give him
• 5:53
  Speaker 2: a tussle. It's not it's I bet you a six
• 5:55
Speaker 2: game series at least, and they definitely have a puncher's chance.
• 6:01
  Speaker 2: The Flyers do.
• 6:02
Speaker 1: Look if you can knocked down by the way there's
• 6:04
Speaker 1: been sort of a and I hate to say because
• 6:07
Speaker 1: the Key and Queen were just in town, but they're
• 6:09
Speaker 1: they're knocking down the monarchy of all these different uh
• 6:12
Speaker 1: you know, the big the big wigs around here. They're
• 6:15
Speaker 1: knocking out Boston and they knocking out the Penguins. I mean,
• 6:18
Speaker 1: it's a very new look playoffs that we were normally
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: used to.
• 6:21
Speaker 2: So I kind of like it. I like the pay
• 6:23
Speaker 2: well you bring up the Penguins. Where do they go
• 6:26
Speaker 2: from here? They were supposed to be supposed to be
• 6:29
Speaker 2: in the lottery this year. They didn't. They had a
• 6:31
Speaker 2: tremendous season during the regular season, but they haven't won
• 6:40
Speaker 2: the playoff series in nine years. They missed the They've
• 6:42
Speaker 2: missed the playoffs five times, I believe five times during
• 6:45
Speaker 2: that time. Now they missed the playoff three times and
• 6:49
Speaker 2: they've been knocked out five times in the first round.
• 6:52
Speaker 2: So are they going to run it back? As they say?
• 6:59
Speaker 2: Malcolms a free AI agent, Crosby's a year older. They
• 7:03
Speaker 2: have some questions, but they had a tremendous year, you know,
• 7:05
Speaker 2: But I'm not surprised, and we talked about it. I
• 7:08
Speaker 2: thought Philadelphia was going to beat them even though they
• 7:10
Speaker 2: didn't have home ice, and they did.
• 7:13
Speaker 1: Well, they did well. We'll happen to see what happens.
• 7:15
Speaker 1: I just want to make one morning about Buffalo. If
• 7:18
  Speaker 1: you're a Rangers connection or a Devil's connection. I mean, look,
• 7:21
Speaker 1: Lindy Ruff, he made the Circuit dout of Year. But
• 7:23
Speaker 1: I'm happy for him. But they's fighting success up in Buffalo.
• 7:26
  Speaker 1: That's that's pretty cool.
• 7:27
Speaker 2: Oh, no doubt about it. I mean, he's one. He's
• 7:30
Speaker 2: in the top five I believe in in games coached
• 7:33
Speaker 2: in games one and you know he is. He is
• 7:38
Speaker 2: mister Buffalo when it comes to their coaching history, without
• 7:43
  Speaker 2: a doubt.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: And he said he played for them back in the day.
• 7:45
Speaker 2: Also right, yes, Well, and I'll tell you one thing, Alex,
• 7:51
Speaker 2: there was a lot of there was a lot going
• 7:52
Speaker 2: on last night, so it was hard to pick and choose.
• 7:55
Speaker 1: Well, let's put off on the eastern side because so
• 7:58
Speaker 1: now what it's game said, and now this this Canadians Montreal,
• 8:02
Speaker 1: this Canadians Lightning series is so back and forth, but
• 8:05
Speaker 1: they just keep fighting every game. It's amazing to watch.
• 8:09
Speaker 2: Well, that's what I was gonna lead into. Last night.
• 8:12
Speaker 2: I saw an epic, spectacular goaltending duel between the Canadians
• 8:20
Speaker 2: Jacob Dobis and future Hall of Famer Andre Vasilevski. Vasileski,
• 8:25
Speaker 2: who has not had a great first round or spectacular
• 8:30
Speaker 2: last night the reason why there is a game seven
• 8:32
Speaker 2: tomorrow night. It was one of the best zero zero
• 8:36
Speaker 2: hockey games after regulation that I've seen in a long time.
• 8:40
Speaker 2: And every game has been a one goal game. The
• 8:47
Speaker 2: gold differential is even through six games, and you can't
• 8:53
Speaker 2: really pick between the two teams. That's how close they are.
• 8:56
  Speaker 2: There's not a lot of space, there's not a lot
• 8:58
Speaker 2: of room on the ice. Teams are playing at the
• 9:01
Speaker 2: top of their game. Tomorrow night, Game seven in Tampa,
• 9:06
Speaker 2: Oh boy, I mean it's again, even though Tampa's playing
• 9:09
Speaker 2: at home. I'm gonna make it a toss up. I'm
• 9:11
Speaker 2: making it. I'm making the game a toss up. Alex.
• 9:14
Speaker 2: I really think Montreal has a great chance, great chance
• 9:17
Speaker 2: to win the game tomorrow night. I mean, this team.
• 9:23
Speaker 1: You just love the energy of this team.
• 9:24
Speaker 2: So now the one thing that Tampa does not have,
• 9:27
Speaker 2: and it's you know, it definitely affected him. They don't
• 9:30
Speaker 2: have Victor Hedman. You know, Victor Hedmon, future Hall of
• 9:33
Speaker 2: Famer he can control the game. He's been out. You
• 9:36
Speaker 2: know this this entire first round. That's not taking anything
• 9:41
Speaker 2: away from Montreal, not at all. Montreal is a team
• 9:44
Speaker 2: on the common. They this is no run. They're going
• 9:47
Speaker 2: to be good for a long time, just like Buffalo,
• 9:50
Speaker 2: just like Anaheim who beat Edmonton. These teams are not
• 9:57
Speaker 2: going away. These are young, fast, skit teams with a
• 10:01
Speaker 2: lot of skilled players. And I don't know what's going
• 10:06
Speaker 2: to happen. And I know we're now jumping to the West,
• 10:08
Speaker 2: but I don't know what's gonna happen to Edmonton. I mean,
• 10:12
Speaker 2: they have two of the best three or four HIVE
• 10:14
Speaker 2: players in the league, and McDavid the best player in
• 10:17
Speaker 2: the league, and dry Sidle Dry Style had ten points
• 10:21
Speaker 2: in the series. They still lost to inexperienced the Anaheim
• 10:26
Speaker 2: Duck team, which had fourteen players playing their first playoff
• 10:30
  Speaker 2: round ever.
• 10:31
Speaker 1: True, but I have to say, I have to say,
• 10:33
Speaker 1: you know, Crider has had a lot of player experience
• 10:35
Speaker 1: here at New York, so.
• 10:37
Speaker 2: Well it was Crider. They have Klown, who's a Stanley
• 10:40
Speaker 2: Cup winner. They have Troubra, but still fourteen out of
• 10:43
Speaker 2: twenty skater fourteen out of twenty players including the two goaltenders.
• 10:47
Speaker 2: That's a lot of first time playoff, playoff and experience
• 10:51
Speaker 2: and Alex it didn't look like Anaheim looked scared or
• 10:55
Speaker 2: inexperienced Edmonton. Usually you look at Edmonton, Oh my god,
• 11:01
Speaker 2: you gotta watch outs them there fast, but kind ofheih
• 11:04
  Speaker 2: much faster.
• 11:07
Speaker 1: Well, you know, day outscored. I mean the fact that
• 11:09
Speaker 1: the scores were not even really close at times is
• 11:11
Speaker 1: more interesting part. Like they were seven something at one
• 11:14
Speaker 1: point in one of the games. It's like point there's
• 11:16
Speaker 1: a different, different kind of outcome because normally the Wheelers
• 11:19
Speaker 1: run through all these series.
• 11:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they got great performances. Anaheim from Leo
• 11:23
Speaker 2: Leo Carlson, from US Olympian Jackson Lacombe. The guy was
• 11:31
Speaker 2: was was just tremendous. Uh and he he was on
• 11:35
Speaker 2: the ice many times, most of the time when McDavid
• 11:37
Speaker 2: was on the ice and dry sidle. I I give
• 11:42
Speaker 2: him a chance against I give them a chance against Vegas,
• 11:46
Speaker 2: I really do. I do give him a chance again
• 11:49
Speaker 2: against Vegas in the next round. McDavid said something that
• 11:52
Speaker 2: he was totally accurate on post game. You know, Connor
• 11:55
Speaker 2: McDavid said, we were just ordinary all all season and
• 11:59
Speaker 2: they were they were ordinary all season. I don't know
• 12:02
Speaker 2: what the future of McDavid's going to be, but again,
• 12:05
Speaker 2: Edmonton went into this playoff series with poor defense and
• 12:11
Speaker 2: they do not have Stanley Cup winning goaltending. McDavid has
• 12:16
Speaker 2: two years left on his deal. Well, it's actually an
• 12:18
Speaker 2: extension that kicks in next year that he took at
• 12:21
Speaker 2: a major, major discount, hometown discount, because he wanted to
• 12:25
Speaker 2: leave room in the salary cap for them to compliment
• 12:29
Speaker 2: him put effective players around him. Alex, I'm not sure.
• 12:32
Speaker 2: I'm not so sure McDavid's going to play these two
• 12:36
Speaker 2: years in in Edmonton and go a free agency. He
• 12:40
Speaker 2: might get trade at the end of this first this
• 12:42
Speaker 2: next year, Well, we'll have.
• 12:44
Speaker 1: To see that. Now. You mentioned they played the Mammoth
• 12:47
Speaker 1: last night, and you know, I'm very impressed by the Mammoth.
• 12:52
Speaker 1: I think they even from when they were last year,
• 12:56
Speaker 1: I think they've got a chance to really grow in
• 12:59
Speaker 1: this confidence we'll see.
• 13:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no doubt about it. I think they're another
• 13:04
Speaker 2: team that with that that's on the com I mean,
• 13:07
Speaker 2: this is not this was not a one and and
• 13:10
Speaker 2: done and we know every year, unlike the NBA, there's
• 13:14
Speaker 2: there's no guarantee you're gonna make the playoffs. Look at
• 13:16
Speaker 2: Winnipeg President's Trophy winner last year. Look at Washington best
• 13:20
Speaker 2: record in the Eastern Conference, the one see in Eastern
• 13:23
Speaker 2: Conference last year. Both teams didn't make the playoffs. So
• 13:26
Speaker 2: so there there's there's no guarantee. But uh uh, there
• 13:33
Speaker 2: are a lot of a lot of good young teams
• 13:35
Speaker 2: who are ready to take the next step. And uh,
• 13:37
Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to that Tampa Montreal game Game seven.
• 13:41
Speaker 2: It's it should be. I mean, the first six games
• 13:43
Speaker 2: have been remarkable and so I assume it's going to
• 13:46
Speaker 2: be that way tomorrow. And I but uh, I would
• 13:50
Speaker 2: say it's a toss up, even though you know, Tampa
• 13:52
Speaker 2: Bay has the pedigree of championships and a lot of
• 13:56
Speaker 2: those guys are still on uh on the you know,
• 14:01
Speaker 2: on the lightning. I think it's a toss up. So
• 14:05
Speaker 2: we will see. But it's been a very good first
• 14:07
  Speaker 2: round as well.
• 14:10
Speaker 1: And by the way, uh, you know, I just keep
• 14:12
Speaker 1: thinking of it. Speaking of staying in Canada, right, So
• 14:16
Speaker 1: when the RJ bart I want to switch sports here
• 14:18
Speaker 1: because I mean last night, when when RJ Barrett got
• 14:20
Speaker 1: traded for Obi. I was little unsure. I think I
• 14:23
Speaker 1: told you that I was a little short time because
• 14:25
Speaker 1: I thought RJ was contributing well to the dicks of
• 14:28
Speaker 1: the time. But Obi really has come on strong. And
• 14:32
Speaker 1: look at Barrett is relevant. I mean you by able
• 14:35
Speaker 1: to hear his name sometimes because we're not following him
• 14:37
Speaker 1: as much. But there he is making that Halliburton style
• 14:40
Speaker 1: three last night for the Raptors. Uh. Pretty. I'm happy
• 14:44
Speaker 1: for the kid, like I've always liked him in New York.
• 14:46
Speaker 2: Also, oh, he's a Toronto area native. He can score.
• 14:52
Speaker 2: He did not. He was not having a good game
• 14:54
Speaker 2: last night. And I actually just saw the ending of
• 14:59
Speaker 2: the game on TV and when he hit that shot,
• 15:04
Speaker 2: and I thought that, I thought he missed it obviously,
• 15:06
Speaker 2: and you know, it bounced, you know, fifteen feet in
• 15:10
Speaker 2: the air, and right away it reminded me of another
• 15:13
Speaker 2: Raptor shot when Kawhi Leonard hit that shot in Game
• 15:16
Speaker 2: seven of the Eastern Conference Finals against Philly that bounced
• 15:20
Speaker 2: around and fell through. So over the years, we've seen,
• 15:25
Speaker 2: you know, we've seen I mean you go back to
• 15:27
Speaker 2: Game five NIX Miami when Alan Houston had a shot
• 15:31
Speaker 2: similar to that. As you said, to Halliburton, Kawhi Leonard
• 15:36
Speaker 2: and now we can add RJ. Barrett Alex. That was
• 15:42
  Speaker 2: sometimes with Cleveland.
• 15:43
Speaker 1: That Leonard shot, I'll never forget it like that. That's
• 15:46
Speaker 1: something that I'll never forget, you know. And that was
• 15:48
Speaker 1: such another pivol shot for Toronto. But man, he did
• 15:52
Speaker 1: on his back foot too. That's remember most about it.
• 15:56
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, And that led them to winning the championship,
• 15:59
  Speaker 2: which again I'm not I don't I'm not looking to
• 16:01
Speaker 2: knock the Raptors, but if Klay, Thompson and and Durant
• 16:07
Speaker 2: weren't injured to the finals, Toronto's not winning that championship?
• 16:11
  Speaker 2: Did it?
• 16:12
Speaker 1: Was? It was? It was just cool to see them
• 16:15
Speaker 1: when the whole city comes around, you know, it's funny
• 16:16
Speaker 1: for a hockey town. They really love their basketball and
• 16:19
Speaker 1: I think that gets underrated. Of course, they love baseball too,
• 16:21
  Speaker 1: I think.
• 16:22
Speaker 2: But for I would say after the Leafs, after the
• 16:25
Speaker 2: maple Leafs, the Jays are the blue Jays are are
• 16:28
Speaker 2: they are the most popular team in Toronto? And then
• 16:32
  Speaker 2: the Raptors.
• 16:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, but toront A rat. Look at the Raptors fans
• 16:35
Speaker 1: that just gathered outside the watch party. That was pretty cool.
• 16:37
Speaker 1: Last night, so they have a good fan base, but.
• 16:40
Speaker 2: Absolutely they They absolutely do that without question.
• 16:44
Speaker 1: All right, So tonight they await the Knicks. Now await
• 16:47
Speaker 1: the winner of the Celtics and the Sixers, And I
• 16:49
Speaker 1: think it's gonna be a chellenty either way, because if
• 16:53
Speaker 1: the Sixers win, it means Maxie and then bieb are
• 16:56
Speaker 1: going to be a challenge for the Knicks in the
• 16:58
Speaker 1: next round. But if the Celtics brings, of course they're
• 17:00
Speaker 1: gonna be a challenge. So the Knicks have to button
• 17:03
Speaker 1: up and buckle that a little bit.
• 17:06
Speaker 2: Well, Alex, I think if you're a Knick fan, which
• 17:12
Speaker 2: I certainly am not, but if you're a Knick fan
• 17:15
Speaker 2: and looking at this subjectively like I always do, I
• 17:18
Speaker 2: would rather play Boston even though I'm going to be
• 17:20
Speaker 2: playing the first two games at home Philadelphia. I mean,
• 17:26
Speaker 2: they poo pooed the regular season, which gave them the
• 17:29
Speaker 2: seventh seed. Atlanta did not poop poo the regular season.
• 17:32
Speaker 2: You know, they played these young guys and Atlanta has
• 17:35
Speaker 2: no stars. They might be developing some, but they have
• 17:37
Speaker 2: no stars. They were never a threat to the Knicks.
• 17:41
Speaker 2: I'm surprised that the Knicks were down two games to one,
• 17:43
Speaker 2: and then the Knicks the last three games totally beat
• 17:45
Speaker 2: the living crap out of them. Really, from from the
• 17:49
Speaker 2: start of Game four to the destruction in Game six,
• 17:54
Speaker 2: the Knicks were never threatened. They were never threatened Alex
• 17:56
Speaker 2: in any game. Now the Knick can't still have to
• 18:01
Speaker 2: keep their foot on the gas pedal. They have to
• 18:03
Speaker 2: keep their mind clear. But if you're a Knick fan,
• 18:06
Speaker 2: I would rather play Boston, even though the first two
• 18:08
Speaker 2: games are in Boston, because with Boston it's a hit
• 18:13
Speaker 2: and miss. The three times they've shot lower than thirty
• 18:17
Speaker 2: percent in this series, they're own three thirty six percent
• 18:22
Speaker 2: are higher, they're three to zero. When you live on that,
• 18:25
Speaker 2: and we saw it in the last year. Last year's
• 18:27
Speaker 2: playoff series against the Knicks, when they were up twenty
• 18:30
Speaker 2: in the first two games, they kept poisting threes and
• 18:32
Speaker 2: allowed the Knicks back in the game. I think the Knicks.
• 18:35
Speaker 2: I think the Knicks would beat the Celtics again the sixers.
• 18:41
Speaker 2: Nick Nurse is a good coach. You know, they have
• 18:44
Speaker 2: Edgecombe now, they have maxi if and beats healthy that
• 18:49
Speaker 2: they that gives the Knicks a problem that they don't
• 18:52
Speaker 2: have against the Celtics. They don't have to worry about
• 18:54
Speaker 2: the Celtics around the rim. They're inside game again. Even
• 19:01
Speaker 2: though they would start at home against Philly. I think
• 19:04
Speaker 2: that they have a better chance and they could be
• 19:06
Speaker 2: either team. Don't get me wrong, They'll be they could
• 19:08
Speaker 2: be either team. I did they have a better chance
• 19:10
Speaker 2: against Boston. I really do. And you know, we talked
• 19:17
Speaker 2: about this is the Knick's best chance to get to
• 19:19
Speaker 2: the NBA Finals. And depending what happens to Ocallama City,
• 19:23
Speaker 2: if they get upset by the Lakers, which I don't think,
• 19:26
Speaker 2: or if they play San Antonio in the Western Conference finals,
• 19:30
Speaker 2: but this is the knicks best chance to get to
• 19:33
Speaker 2: the finals. There's a lot of fullow teams in the NBA.
• 19:37
Speaker 2: The whole East is floored. They're just you know, do
• 19:41
Speaker 2: you believe in Cleveland? I don't. I don't know how Detroit,
• 19:48
Speaker 2: an offensively challenged team in Detroit, came back from a
• 19:51
Speaker 2: twenty four point deficit last night. How Orlando blew that
• 19:57
Speaker 2: game is beyond my comprehend.
• 20:01
  Speaker 1: Uh.
• 20:01
Speaker 2: They scored nineteen points in the second half. Orlando missed
• 20:05
Speaker 2: twenty three straight field goal attempts, which was they missed.
• 20:08
Speaker 2: They went over an hour in real time when out
• 20:11
Speaker 2: scoring a basket, according to one report. So I don't know.
• 20:17
Speaker 2: I mean, I still think that Detroit can lose at
• 20:20
Speaker 2: home tomorrow night in Game seven. It's been a very,
• 20:23
Speaker 2: very un un It's just been a weird first round,
• 20:29
Speaker 2: not a typical NBA first round the playoffs. But this
• 20:32
Speaker 2: is the next best chance, Alex. This is the next
• 20:35
Speaker 2: best chance that they've had, probably since they or.
• 20:39
Speaker 1: This is their prime, this is this is the moment,
• 20:41
Speaker 1: this is the but they cannot give it another twelve
• 20:46
Speaker 1: point lead up in this series. They just cannot get
• 20:48
Speaker 1: away with them this year.
• 20:49
Speaker 2: But Alex, are the Knicks or any of these teams
• 20:52
Speaker 2: in Eastern Conference better than the Knicks? I don't think so.
• 20:56
Speaker 2: I mean, if the Knicks loses next round, it wouldn't
• 20:59
Speaker 2: surprise me. But once you know, it wouldn't surprise me
• 21:02
Speaker 2: if they win either. I mean, none of knows these
• 21:05
Speaker 2: teams are better than the Knicks. It's a toss up.
• 21:07
Speaker 2: It's it's the typical it's the typical toss up.
• 21:11
Speaker 1: And then the beggar's question, like if the Celticts are good,
• 21:14
Speaker 1: why did it takes seven to get to here? You
• 21:16
Speaker 1: know what I mean? So, it's gonna be well.
• 21:18
  Speaker 2: I just I just, I just I just said it.
• 21:20
Speaker 2: You know, they live and die by the three, but.
• 21:22
Speaker 1: They're also wearing each other out, and I think that's
• 21:24
Speaker 1: the best part for the Knicks right now. So we'll
• 21:26
Speaker 1: have to see all right elsewhere in the NBA the series.
• 21:31
Speaker 1: I want to keep tabs. I haven't kept those as much.
• 21:33
Speaker 1: But what's going on with the Lakers? I mean, I
• 21:35
  Speaker 1: Donkics not.
• 21:36
Speaker 2: Back yet or what's happening now donkits is knocked back?
• 21:38
Speaker 2: It they they finally polished off the the Rockets last night.
• 21:43
Speaker 2: Obviously they will help along by the flow at that
• 21:47
Speaker 2: The rant only played one game, but again they played
• 21:50
Speaker 2: without Reeves, they played without Donkis and donkys Is supposed
• 21:53
Speaker 2: to be missed the first U two games of the
• 21:56
Speaker 2: series against Oklahoma City. I can't see Oklahoma City losing
• 22:02
Speaker 2: the series. I think the Lakers will give them a
• 22:05
Speaker 2: little a little bit of a tussle. But you know,
• 22:09
Speaker 2: Lebron's forty one and Lebron the only reason that you
• 22:12
Speaker 2: know they won a couple of games in the series
• 22:14
Speaker 2: is because Lebron can still It's still great, but he's
• 22:17
Speaker 2: still but he's still he's forty one, and Oklahoma City
• 22:21
Speaker 2: has as good a defense as there is in the league,
• 22:23
Speaker 2: and they're deep team barring injury. I can't I can't see, okay, see,
• 22:30
Speaker 2: all right, maybe if you want to give the Lakers
• 22:32
Speaker 2: six games, depending on if the dockage comes back, I
• 22:35
Speaker 2: probably would give them six games. But Oklahoma State is
• 22:39
Speaker 2: gonna win the series, and I mean I think they're
• 22:43
Speaker 2: gonna win the championship again.
• 22:47
Speaker 1: Well, you know, like the Avalanche the Thunder, well, not
• 22:51
Speaker 1: the Avalanche. We like the because last year's winners even
• 22:54
Speaker 1: in there. But like the Avalanche, the Thunder are very
• 22:57
Speaker 1: heavily favored in this and the Thunder could really repeat.
• 22:59
Speaker 1: I really believe that. So I'm sick, all right, you
• 23:02
Speaker 1: know I'm gonna ask you next, right, so tomorrow. Last night,
• 23:06
Speaker 1: Petere Alonzo comes back to New York and it's almost
• 23:09
Speaker 1: like you told David Stearns you missed me yet he
• 23:12
Speaker 1: is a homer. His first step at the Yankee Stadium,
• 23:14
Speaker 1: as it were, it's like he can't script baseball.
• 23:18
Speaker 2: Like that, Alex, you are one thousand percent on the money. Uh.
• 23:23
Speaker 2: You know? He is first at bat in New York
• 23:26
Speaker 2: City since signing with the Orioles. He's that home run
• 23:31
Speaker 2: and it doesn't matter about the one loss. That was
• 23:34
Speaker 2: just a personal statement he made. And I know he
• 23:37
Speaker 2: hasn't had a good first month, and the team he
• 23:41
Speaker 2: used to play for us had the worst month in
• 23:43
Speaker 2: my opinion, in franchise history. I'm not counting those early
• 23:46
Speaker 2: expansion years because they shouldn't count. Look, this was one
• 23:54
Speaker 2: of the biggest mistakes that he could make. We talked
• 23:58
Speaker 2: about it. We were on live that day when he
• 24:01
Speaker 2: when he signed with the Orioles. And again, one hundred
• 24:05
Speaker 2: and fifty five million over five years for a team
• 24:08
Speaker 2: that really has no payroll, payroll, you know, ceiling. Theygno
• 24:16
Speaker 2: as high as they want. Thirty one million of the
• 24:19
Speaker 2: year for five years, Alex, even if in year four
• 24:21
Speaker 2: or five he was done. The Mets can absorb that
• 24:24
Speaker 2: can absorb that contract. They could. He was a homegrown Met.
• 24:28
Speaker 2: He was a great run producer for the Mets. The
• 24:31
Speaker 2: Mets can't score. David Stearns is put together one of
• 24:38
Speaker 2: the worst rosters that you can construct when you have
• 24:42
  Speaker 2: unlimited funds.
• 24:43
Speaker 1: Lew It's almost like the Rangers on the Diamond. I mean,
• 24:46
Speaker 1: he blew up the team, is what he.
• 24:48
Speaker 2: Did, Alex, he's been it's been a disaster. You know,
• 24:53
Speaker 2: the worst free agent signing in Mets history, I'll give
• 24:56
Speaker 2: it to you. It's not a player. The worst free
• 24:58
Speaker 2: agent signing in Mets history up to now, and hopefully
• 25:02
Speaker 2: I'll be wrong, but right is David Stearns. David Stearns
• 25:08
Speaker 2: fifty million dollars for five years, ten million dollars a year.
• 25:12
Speaker 2: That's a pretty good salary. That's the worst free agent
• 25:14
Speaker 2: signing the Mets have made in their history. He has
• 25:17
Speaker 2: ruined the Mets. I mean, Lewis, Robert, we talked about it.
• 25:22
Speaker 2: The guy, the guy can't play. They moved all these
• 25:26
Speaker 2: guys around the different positions. You know, they're you know,
• 25:30
Speaker 2: Tyrone Taylor is a fantastic defensive center fielder, but he's
• 25:34
Speaker 2: a complimentary player. The Mets are playing complimentary players as starters. Alex.
• 25:43
Speaker 2: They're gonna lose ninety games.
• 25:46
Speaker 1: This is what did they follow up?
• 25:49
Speaker 2: Yeah? They did, they did. They won four to three
• 25:53
Speaker 2: in Anaheim. But this is on him, This is on
• 26:00
Speaker 2: directly on Stern's and I really wonder how Stephen Cohen
• 26:08
Speaker 2: thinks about this. Behind closed doors. He's been very very quiet,
• 26:12
  Speaker 2: but this.
• 26:12
Speaker 1: Has been the tweeter in chief for the Mets. He
• 26:15
  Speaker 1: never tweets anymore.
• 26:16
Speaker 2: So you know he doesn't and there's nothing to tweet
• 26:20
Speaker 2: about except this is. This has been a disaster now
• 26:25
Speaker 2: and getting and I'm gonna attack some of you Yankee fans.
• 26:31
Speaker 2: We always complain about Brian Cashman, who always complained about Boone.
• 26:38
Speaker 2: Stop complaining, Stop complaining Cashman. Yes, all those years and
• 26:47
Speaker 2: even now check book baseball has been easy. But he's
• 26:50
Speaker 2: still been able to bridge analytics and checkbook baseball and
• 26:55
Speaker 2: uh he ran the team back from last year basically, and.
• 27:01
Speaker 1: Well, you know what, they're the twenty one month clip.
• 27:04
Speaker 1: That's pretty good. Actually so well.
• 27:06
  Speaker 2: Again, don't don't complain, Yankee fans. You haven't had a
• 27:10
Speaker 2: losing season since nineteen ninety two.
• 27:14
Speaker 1: The second thing is, I don't know how they're the
• 27:15
Speaker 1: first place with the lineup they have. It's really remarkable
• 27:17
  Speaker 1: to me.
• 27:18
Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you why. There's only four teams in
• 27:20
Speaker 2: the American League that are over five hundred. There's nine
• 27:23
Speaker 2: teams in the nationallygue over five hundred. As we record this,
• 27:27
Speaker 2: I could I could say this barring major injuries, and
• 27:31
Speaker 2: I hopefully they don't have any The Yankees have clinched
• 27:36
Speaker 2: American League East already, I mean five months ago. They're
• 27:42
  Speaker 2: not losing well.
• 27:43
Speaker 1: And then last Saturday the Red Sox fire the Cora
• 27:46
Speaker 1: and a few other guys. It was a whole mess
• 27:50
Speaker 1: of things. And you know, I know that's going to
• 27:52
Speaker 1: make the team better. But I want to tell you.
• 27:55
Speaker 1: Philly then followed suit and maddenly. You know he could
• 27:59
Speaker 1: get them. It could be like McKeon and the Marlins.
• 28:03
Speaker 2: You know that, yes, that that could be. They could
• 28:07
Speaker 2: have one last gasp, no doubt about it. The Phillies
• 28:10
Speaker 2: are an old team, but the managerial switch from Thompson
• 28:14
Speaker 2: to Don manningly has helped them, at least in the
• 28:17
Speaker 2: early going. They got that managerial bump. They've won four
• 28:20
Speaker 2: in a row after losing eleven out of twelve. So
• 28:26
Speaker 2: uh yeah. Sometimes sometimes the coaching change the managerial change,
• 28:31
Speaker 2: most of the time you see see a bump. So
• 28:34
Speaker 2: we'll have to see. But the other thing with the Yankees,
• 28:38
Speaker 2: the Yankees pitching. The Yankees starting pitching is spectacular and
• 28:44
Speaker 2: they don't even have Cole or Rodonia. And you know,
• 28:47
  Speaker 2: I'm not a big fan of rodonnd. I think he's
• 28:49
Speaker 2: that good. But you know, Cole a true any era
• 28:53
Speaker 2: of bulldog, you can pitch in any ear if they
• 28:56
Speaker 2: if they just let him go nine innings, he can
• 28:58
Speaker 2: pitch nine innings, you know. And Schlittler and Max Freed,
• 29:05
Speaker 2: Will Warren is coming on. This pitching staff is probably
• 29:11
Speaker 2: as good as anybody in baseball, probably just as good
• 29:14
Speaker 2: as the Dodgers pitching staff, I mean, barring injuries, Alex.
• 29:20
Speaker 2: Another Eastern Conference, another Eastern Division championship for the for
• 29:25
  Speaker 2: the Yankees, I can't I can't see it. Maybe Toronto
• 29:28
Speaker 2: will threaten them a little bit, But yes, the Yankees
• 29:32
Speaker 2: the back end of their bullpen. I'm not I'm not
• 29:35
Speaker 2: great bednar Fan. I don't know how you know how
• 29:39
Speaker 2: great he is, but you know he's decent enough. And
• 29:42
Speaker 2: again then at the trade deadline, the Yankees might make
• 29:45
Speaker 2: a trade to shore show up the back of the bullpen.
• 29:48
Speaker 2: But that I see them, I see them staying on
• 29:52
Speaker 2: this trajectory through the playoffs.
• 30:00
Speaker 1: A little. Will have to see what happens. But for now,
• 30:02
Speaker 1: there's been a nice conversation. Anything else on your mind
• 30:05
Speaker 1: before you wrap up Terminal's take this week?
• 30:07
Speaker 2: Anything else on my mind? Let's let's see.
• 30:11
Speaker 3: Uh, let's see what we got to talk about. I
• 30:16
Speaker 3: know there was, and we talked about this a couple
• 30:20
Speaker 3: of weeks ago, like six weeks ago, and it was
• 30:23
Speaker 3: reported this week, but we had it here first with
• 30:25
Speaker 3: my contact that the Jets were interested in possibly signing
• 30:30
Speaker 3: Russell Wilson as their backup quarterback. Russell Wilson wants to
• 30:34
Speaker 3: stay in New York obviously, his wife wants to stay
• 30:37
Speaker 3: in New York because of their business opportunities. But it
• 30:40
Speaker 3: looks like as of this morning, that the networks are
• 30:43
Speaker 3: talking to him. So it looks like CBS is the
• 30:47
Speaker 3: front runner to sign Russell Wilson. So we have to
• 30:52
Speaker 3: keep an eye on that story.
• 30:53
Speaker 2: And then the Jet's gonna have to look up look
• 30:55
Speaker 2: at for a backup quarterback somewhere else, and then wait
• 30:59
Speaker 2: till next April when they will be drafting somewhere in
• 31:04
Speaker 2: the first round in that quarterback which draft last next year,
• 31:09
Speaker 2: there hopefully will be their future franchise quarterback, which we've
• 31:13
Speaker 2: been waiting forever. So we'll see.
• 31:17
Speaker 1: Well, you did call it. I'd pull up the audio
• 31:19
Speaker 1: and play that for people, but for now, louis always
• 31:22
Speaker 1: bludge on Terminalo's take time for some baseball day and
• 31:24
Speaker 1: it's gonna be a busy day. Yere one leg of
• 31:26
Speaker 1: by Alex Media. I can't wait, Alex.
• 31:29
  Speaker 2: Yes, you've been very busy lately. I mean I can't
• 31:32
Speaker 2: even keep up with with all your postings.
• 31:34
Speaker 1: We keep at it, all right, Louis, love you man.
• 31:37
Speaker 2: All right, Thank you, buddy, Appreciate it as always.
• 31:40
Speaker 1: Have a great day, yes, sir, thank you,
