- 0:03Here are three top strategies that I used coming up Hey guys,
- 0:14welcome back to the apps we world.

- 0:37questions about how to tell people you're artistic.
- 0:39You know people ask me all the time how to do I did one on
- 0:42like, how to tell your family and friends.
- 0:44But one of the biggest ones I get asked all the time is how to
- 0:46tell your partner. Like how do you tell your
- 0:48partner you're on the autism spectrum?
- 0:49Because they're the people that you know you're around all the
- 0:53time, and you know they are. They're the people who are going
- 0:59to be supporting you. They're the people that are
- 1:00there all the time. So I get asked this question all
- 1:03the time, and I just want to make this video to help you
- 1:07understand how to do this with these top three strategies.
- 1:10Now, if you're new around here and you haven't already
- 1:12downloaded my free Autism Life Hacks PDF book, I request you do
- 1:16that right now. autismhacks.net Do it now.
- 1:18It's totally free. Okay.
- 1:19So here are my three top strategies for actually telling
- 1:22somebody that you're with your partner, your your girlfriend,
- 1:25your boyfriend, or whatever you know that you're on the autism
- 1:28spectrum. Because they need to know, you
- 1:30know, if you're with somebody, then you're sharing your
- 1:32romantic life with, then they need to know at the end of the
- 1:34day. So this is my three top
- 1:37strategies and I use these exact ones.
- 1:39And it worked absolutely perfect.
- 1:40So the first one is to be open. So the first thing I did after
- 1:45my diagnosis as my partner was present there was to be open and
- 1:48honest with my family and and with her.
- 1:50So tell them everything that you can about the process, the
- 1:54diagnosis, what it means. And this is the same for you and
- 1:58your partner. You know, like be open, Have
- 1:59that open dialogue. Tell them exactly the process.
- 2:02Tell them what happened because they're going to want to back
- 2:04you up. They're going to everyone be
- 2:06there with you side by side, because that's what we do with
- 2:08relationships, especially romantic relationships.
- 2:10When you love someone and you're in a relationship with somebody,
- 2:12they want to help and protect you as best they can and do all
- 2:16those things with you. So if you're open and honest
- 2:17with them, then you can have great success in those areas.
- 2:20OK, so #2 for me was vital, which is answer questions.
- 2:24Now, you know, be mindful that your partner will want to ask
- 2:28you a bunch of questions about autism, about your diagnosis,
- 2:31about the whole process, right? And so the best thing you can do
- 2:35is to be open and and answer those questions.
- 2:38So prepare yourself for the fact that you're going to be
- 2:40interrogated about it because they've just found out, you
- 2:43know, like it's not something that you're you should be
- 2:47ashamed about. Something that is part of you.
- 2:49It is you. You are autism.
- 2:51Autism is you. So just be open and honest.
- 2:53Answer those questions because you're going to be the best
- 2:56person to answer those questions on the subject because it is
- 2:59you, it is about you. And they will get the full
- 3:03picture because they're they're asking you specific questions
- 3:06like how does impact this part of a relationship?
- 3:07How does this impact this part of relationship?
- 3:09And then you'll be able to answer those questions honestly,
- 3:12open and completely direct, because you are going to know
- 3:14the answers. That is perfect and prime for
- 3:17this kind of situation, especially when you're talking
- 3:19to your partner or loved one or when you're explaining that to
- 3:21the person that you're spending your whole life with.
- 3:24OK, so #3 is providing research. One of the things that I found
- 3:28most interesting and helpful and useful was educating anyone,
- 3:32including your partner about autism.
- 3:34Diagnosis is finding that the right information.
- 3:37So getting the right books, getting the right, even if it's
- 3:40the diagnostic report from the the doctor, the analysis, pass
- 3:44this to them and get them to read it.
- 3:46Because when they, you know, they know that you have, you
- 3:50know, an autism spectrum disorder, you've answered
- 3:51questions on it. But then they'll want to kind of
- 3:53know some academic research. So the best way to get the
- 3:55academic research in is to literally get it the academic
- 4:00research from the library or a bookstore or whatever, and then
- 4:03present it to them and say, hey, you know, I've got autism and
- 4:06this is it. And you answer all the questions
- 4:07and you say, well, why not do some research on it?
- 4:09Why don't you check out, you know, what is it, how it's going
- 4:11to affect, you know, our relationship, if at all.
- 4:13And then you'll be ahead of the game.
- 4:16I think this is absolutely paramount for any relationships.
- 4:19If you have any more questions about autism and relationships,
- 4:21I did a bunch of videos on autism and relationships and
- 4:24I'll leave them in the end slate and in the description and stuff
- 4:27so you guys can check those videos out.
- 4:28But if you have anything specific to ask me, pop it in a
- 4:30comment. I read every single one and I
- 4:32definitely have that conversation with you if you
- 4:33need any help with anything. Also guys, if you found this
- 4:36video helpful, please share it on Twitter, Instagram and
- 4:39Facebook and if you liked it, give it thumbs up.
- 4:42Alright, I'll see you next time guys.
- 4:43Peace.
