- Britt Fisher: Hey friend, can I ask you something? When was the last time you did something that made you feel alive? Not just good, not just happy, but fully alive? When was the last time you opened your doors to someone or someplace new and thought, this is what life is supposed to feel like? When was the last time you said yes to something scary or uncomfortable and came home different than when you left? If your answer to those questions is not often enough, I need you to hear something. You were not created to play it safe and operate in survival mode. You were made to live abundantly, generously, and courageously. I'm Britt Fisher, Jesus follower, mama of four, lover of a good cup of coffee savored with a friend, a full dinner table, and a passport full of stamps. And I am someone who believes that the most ordinary life can become extraordinary when you're willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Welcome to Far and Familiar. The podcast about faith, hospitality, and courageous adventure for Christian moms who are ready to stop surviving and start fully living. Here's the thing about the word familiar: it comes from the same root as family. It's not just what's comfortable, it's what feels like home. That's what hospitality actually is: welcoming your neighbor, an unfamiliar face, or even a new place, and embracing it like family. And far, that's the courage it takes to get there. The trip you almost didn't take. The faith step that felt too big, the places and people that start out unfamiliar, but become a part of you in the most beautiful way. Every week we're going to talk about what it really looks like to throw your doors open to your neighbors, to strangers, to the uncomfortable, and what it looks like to follow God into the scary, exciting, and beautiful unknown. I'm going to share stories, ask the questions you have been craving to hear the answer to, and bring in women who are doing this alongside us. Imperfectly, courageously, and with a lot of grace. This isn't a podcast about doing more. It's about living more. There's a difference, and I think you already know it. So come chase the far and familiar with me. Eyes up, doors open. Subscribe wherever you listen and tell a friend who needs this. I'll see you in the first episode.
