- 0:00What's going on, folks? What's going on, everybody?
- 0:03My name is David, and welcome to the legendary, legendary podcast,
- 0:09because I am that legendary host of the Deconstructing Topic Podcast,
- 0:13where we grab a little bit of topic, a little bit of all, a little bit of thing
- 0:16about life and where we at, and
- 0:19we just kind of deconstruct it so we could learn a little bit something.
- 0:23We could be like wow I didn't know and that's interesting
- 0:26to know and then you're going to go with that knowledge and then
- 0:29you're going to try to impress your friends your family your co-workers and all
- 0:32that and that's where you should be telling those people because they're going
- 0:36to look at you like wow you know I didn't know why you're smart you're a smart
- 0:40person and that's your responsibility to tell those folks well I've been listening
- 0:44to the deconstructing topic podcast let's go but today we got a little good
- 0:48one I did have mentioned in my previous podcast.
- 0:52Check it out. A little bit of
- 0:53what I think about the situation going on in Iran and all over the world.
- 0:57I mean, I did mention that I'm back, that I kind of been out for like a couple
- 1:01of weeks or so, you know, physically and then the flu or whatever,
- 1:05the cold just hit me out of nowhere.
- 1:07And it always got me thinking, because one of the things about this podcast,
- 1:11once again, once you listen to this voice, you're going to hit the like button.
- 1:16You're going to subscribe Five of you have not done so.
- 1:19Look, listen, I always tell people, well, my information is there.
- 1:23Feel free to little donations on my PayPal. Feel free to reach out to me on my email.
- 1:28Let's have a little nice conversation, shall we?
- 1:32Because I want to say is this. And one of the things about my podcast is that
- 1:37I want people to get something good out of it.
- 1:39That when you're done listening to my podcast, you could start to think on your
- 1:43own and start doing the right thing. go at least at least because what's right
- 1:49is wrong for me what's wrong is right for you right but at least.
- 1:54Let's kind of separate from what's out there.
- 1:57And one of the things that I always have emphasized and I say is the well-being of ours.
- 2:03Now, with that said, we definitely got to take care of each other and we got
- 2:07to take care of our body mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally,
- 2:11whatever, whatever, whatever ends there.
- 2:16You know what I mean? I'm just saying we definitely got to take care.
- 2:19And one of the things that I definitely want to bring in my podcast is a conversation
- 2:24about food and what we eat, because it's very endearing.
- 2:27And I, for some reason, I, a couple of months ago, I was in Puerto Rico,
- 2:32my beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
- 2:34I love Puerto Rico. I love my people in Puerto Rico.
- 2:36But sometimes I tend to kind of question some of the characters in Puerto Rico.
- 2:42Sadly, you know, when it comes to crime in Puerto Rico, it's very high.
- 2:45And, you know, let's see. But sometimes I like to think like,
- 2:48you know, what drives people to that? And again, poverty and so on and so forth, right?
- 2:53And one of the things is that.
- 2:56What drives people, and again, we're all humans, so we all have,
- 2:59you already know, we all have these traits and characteristics and so on,
- 3:03and, you know, we could go and engage, but one of the things that I always have
- 3:06said that food, and when you are not eating properly,
- 3:10when you're eating junk food or something that's not good for the body,
- 3:14especially if you did that in a young age, then your body's not,
- 3:17you know, you're not going to develop as well as when you're eating good stuff.
- 3:22You know, and when I say good stuff, you know, processed food,
- 3:25canned food would be not, for the most part, not good versus,
- 3:29let's say, something a little bit more open, more fruitful, more veggies.
- 3:32You know what I mean? So I'm in Puerto Rico, and I'm looking at this beautiful,
- 3:37in a town, this beautiful, beautiful mountain. Oh, my goodness, it's there.
- 3:42You got the trees and all that. And I moved to the right, a couple of inches,
- 3:46taking pictures, and there's Walmart. Wow, Walmart.
- 3:49You already know for those in America. and in certain parts of Europe.
- 3:53You know, hey, listen, I know Walmart, it's all over the place,
- 3:56but Walmart is a big, big, big, big conglomerate. You already know.
- 4:01So they're Puerto Rico as well. It looks like they, it looks like Puerto Rico
- 4:06is a small island and it looks like the Walmarts, they are bigger than the island.
- 4:09And I'm looking at Walmart, I'm like, okay, that's fine. I get it.
- 4:12You know, that's people in Puerto Rico, for those who don't know,
- 4:16Puerto Ricans in terms of the hourly rate and so on, it's not,
- 4:19compared to the United States, different but the cost of life,
- 4:22a little bit less in Puerto Rico, but the fact that I go to Walmart,
- 4:26which is I guess is the only time that I've been to Walmart when I'm in Puerto Rico, such a sense of,
- 4:33I don't know, irony, I guess that's the word, I'm not a big fan of Walmart, and I'll tell you why,
- 4:40one of the things that, you know, Walmart, I get it, they sell things at a lesser
- 4:42price, but to what cost that food that is, that you're eating,
- 4:46just to save a couple of dollars, will,
- 4:49hamper your, your, your health, you know what I mean, and when I went to Walmart there,
- 4:55and I see a lot of my Puerto Rican folks, as this has always been a thing,
- 4:59because we are, sadly, belong to the United States.
- 5:02Hey, listen, we'll talk about that in another. But the thing is that they turn us into consumers.
- 5:08And I see all these people eating these processed food, and I start to think, right?
- 5:13We go back to the Bronx. I grew up in the Bronx. Where you grew up?
- 5:16Where's that at? Whoever's listening, let me know where you grew up.
- 5:19I like the kid. But if you live in an impoverished neighborhood,
- 5:23again, even applies to a local basis in New York City, Bronx,
- 5:27New York City, home of the New York Yankees, let's go baseball.
- 5:30Around the corner, whoop, let's go Yankees. But yes, in the Bronx,
- 5:35again, it's the same effect. you see people and you kind of question their decisions
- 5:41and you kind of question certain things in their life.
- 5:45And I'm like, damn, you know, I hate to be that dude, right?
- 5:48To be like, damn, I can't believe that. So people are kind of dumb in these
- 5:52days. You know what I mean?
- 5:53I know that the educational system in New York City or in the United States,
- 5:57the public educational system is highly questionable.
- 6:00But sometimes you say to yourself, even if it is.
- 6:04I've went to class, let's say, middle school.
- 6:08And if you look at some of the smartest students in the class,
- 6:14they, let's say, they came from parents that work, you know?
- 6:19So that means more money. That means that you're going to eat better.
- 6:22If you look at the kids that would have been a hard time, either a lot of them
- 6:28came from single mothers, so it's a struggle.
- 6:30Single mothers that worked. There was those who came from a household where
- 6:37they were struggling, public assistance.
- 6:38When you get public assistance, look, people were going to struggle.
- 6:41Let's say you could live in a household of a family and a mother and a father,
- 6:46and let's say they both went on disability in New York. Hey, disability.
- 6:51I don't wish that people go on disability. I mean, all I just say,
- 6:55I hope people don't get hurt outside of the workplace. Disability is really peanuts.
- 6:59But then let's say if you get a public assistance, it's not enough for one to
- 7:04get some good food. So what to do? You buy junk.
- 7:07You buy food that is just malnutritious.
- 7:11Or it's not good food that's going to nourish the brain for you to develop.
- 7:15And I've always said that, and I'm like, wow.
- 7:19Now, if you live, you know, and this is true, if you live in a hood,
- 7:23again, the hood is beautiful. The hood is full of different people.
- 7:28But for the most part, the hood leads towards, how can I say,
- 7:33more off to the poverty line, more than anything.
- 7:36But again, there's a lot of hardworking people.
- 7:39Sometimes there's hardworking people that just happen to just have a family,
- 7:43just continue to live in a hood.
- 7:45But it doesn't mean that they don't have money. But, you know,
- 7:47for the most part, people in the hood do struggle.
- 7:50Now, if I go, let's say in the Bronx, these certain sections in the Bronx where
- 7:54they got these clusters of stores, clothes, food, all that.
- 7:58If you look a lot of these places and listen, I love my chicken spot places,
- 8:03my fried chicken, my Kennedy's.
- 8:05You already know who I'm talking about. So, yo, I'm supposed to say if you know, you know.
- 8:11But, hey, listen, if you're in New York City, stop by a chicken spot.
- 8:14And it's not KFC. It's something about Kennedy and crown chicken and all that.
- 8:18You already know. You already know what I'm talking about. But the fact is this.
- 8:22Not a good, you know, fried chicken and a lot of stuff there.
- 8:25But if you look at the junk that's been offered to us, again,
- 8:30and I'm not saying don't eat that fried chicken or anything like that, but what is the balance?
- 8:35The other day, you know, I love my brother. My brother hit me up.
- 8:40He's like, yo, you know, a little hungry.
- 8:42You know, they're saying to make, to eat, you know, whatever. I'm a little tired.
- 8:46Can you get something to eat? And I'll give you the money. And I'm like, okay.
- 8:50Like, you know what? I'll go to the chicken spot. I'll go to the chicken spot.
- 8:54I got to do a podcast on chicken spot. I love me the chicken spot.
- 8:57But the fact I go to this chicken spot, five-piece chicken with french fries,
- 9:02in a soda, right? In a can of soda.
- 9:04All right, $12, $13. All right, not bad. $6.50 for person.
- 9:09Not bad. But again, I want people to look at it here. And one of the points
- 9:14that I'm trying to make when it comes to food is,
- 9:17You see, the chicken spot is a spot that we go to to get food that's affordable.
- 9:22But sadly, many of those menus in the chicken spot, it's not necessarily food that are good for us.
- 9:29You understand what I'm saying here? Even, you know, let's say I love my Chinese food.
- 9:33But the stuff in those Chinese food, you know, especially the fried stuff and
- 9:38all that good stuff, you know, they use a lot of good stuff.
- 9:41Again, shout out to my Chinese people.
- 9:43You know, they make that good food.
- 9:46I love it but the fact is this you know we just tend to just eat a lot of junk
- 9:51and I'm trying to do these episodes or I'm trying to bring episodes because
- 9:55not only is there junk in our neighborhood but when we go to the supermarket
- 10:00and the other you know a couple of weeks ago I was sick like,
- 10:04you know the fever the runny nose stuffy,
- 10:09and common sense would be let's go with an old remedy good old honey with some lemon,
- 10:15And let's get it. Man, that's a beautiful remedy.
- 10:20It's the Puerto Rican in me. I'm like, remedy, remedy. It's remedy,
- 10:24right? But the fact is this.
- 10:28How is it? And again, this is a, I think this is a United States thing, but this is what they do.
- 10:34Is that right now, if you go to the supermarket, you look for honey.
- 10:38But it's 80% of the honey that's on the shelf. It's not real. It might say honey.
- 10:44But I don't mean anything. But you see, if you look at honey that is $3 compared
- 10:48to one that's $10, the $10, there's a good chance that it's real, 100% honey.
- 10:53I'm going to lean that the one that costs $10, same size, is the one that's real honey.
- 10:59But you see us in the hood, we look at it as, oh, $3.
- 11:03You know, I'm going to use honey for that. But then that honey is just garbage.
- 11:07Again, this is what happens. You know, it's like a domino effect.
- 11:11And I want to say it's this.
- 11:13You know, we look when it comes to a food stamp. Hey, listen,
- 11:16I'm for food stamp for those who are in need. And there's many people that are in need.
- 11:22Even people that work are still in need of food stamp.
- 11:25And that's why I said, you know what? We need to raise the food stamp a little
- 11:29bit, depending on how much your household income is.
- 11:32Because there are those people in the hood that's trying to get out,
- 11:35you know, get out, you know, get a good job.
- 11:37But sometimes like you live in New York City, but things, you know,
- 11:40with the rent, with bills and so on, you know, you still got to call only a
- 11:44couple of hundred dollars to spend on food, you know, get that little public
- 11:48assistance by all means.
- 11:49But I always said, if the government gives you more money for public assistance,
- 11:54we got to have a better system, how to educate people on how to spend that money
- 12:00or those food stamps on something that's more nutritious for your body, for your kids.
- 12:06To learn, to find out, the UCLA School, University of Los Angeles Health,
- 12:12they did studies years ago where bread, many of the breads that's out there,
- 12:16and for those parents out there, especially in the 80s, 90s, 2000,
- 12:21who would, let's say, get a little kid that's a little bit hyper,
- 12:24here's a piece of bread, a sliced bread.
- 12:26A lot of these sliced bread, especially the cheap ones from these,
- 12:29and the other ones from these corporations, they actually amplify,
- 12:34let's say, the case of ADD.
- 12:36So there's a lot of stuff out there that even claims to be good and is good
- 12:42for us, but it's not. And there's a lot of junk out there. You know what I mean?
- 12:46So I'm trying to see if what can we do.
- 12:49And I want to do more episodes where I could just do a list of,
- 12:53based on my little research there, you know, from my understanding,
- 12:57there are these five, let's say, nutritionists, doctors, whatever,
- 13:01scientists that need these tests.
- 13:03And these are the real honey to get. And again, I tell people this, and I understand.
- 13:08And if you're listening to my podcast, you live in a hood, I live in a hood
- 13:12too. Trust me, I know what it is.
- 13:15You want to get that good food, but you only got $5.
- 13:20And with $5, you want to get breakfast, lunch, and dinner. What are you going to buy? Exactly that.
- 13:25Exactly something that we will say junk. And again, junk, it's something that
- 13:34it's in America, it's like it's an option.
- 13:37And it's, for the most part, a lot of people, it's an option,
- 13:40and it's the number one option. Look, they turn us to consumers.
- 13:45And we already know. We got these big corporations. We already know.
- 13:48I don't have to tell you twice.
- 13:51I would love for you to subscribe to my channel so that I could do.
- 13:54I will be doing a ketchup.
- 13:56I said ketchup. For some reason, I'm thinking ketchup and honey.
- 13:59Whatever. Hey, listen, I ain't crazy. No funny stuff. What I'm saying is this.
- 14:03I'm going to do an episode, you know, when it comes to honey,
- 14:06to provide you which is the real honey.
- 14:07Which is not and i know that we want to squeeze and i know we want to squeeze and i want to say,
- 14:13just because you have this doesn't mean
- 14:16that you have to get this junk because it's going to be a cycle and it affects
- 14:20across the board it affects all type of races white black latinos so on and
- 14:25so forth we got a lot of uh you know people out there not living that healthy
- 14:30because they don't consume that healthy, that healthy food.
- 14:34Because I say it's this, if you don't have time to do physical stuff,
- 14:38to go to the gym, maybe you don't have the means, maybe you don't have the space,
- 14:43maybe, you know, the stress.
- 14:45I mean, we could go on and on and on and on. And I get it again,
- 14:48I've been there, been there, done that, trust me.
- 14:52But the fact is that if we continue to consume junk, and there's always a saying, you become who you eat.
- 14:58And when you eat a lot of stuff that is not good, and again,
- 15:02it's not, honey would be the perfect example.
- 15:05You're going to be like, oh, yeah, I'll be drinking a cup of lemon with honey
- 15:10and all that to come and find out that honey that you bought is maple syrup,
- 15:1590% maple syrup, which is something that's happening.
- 15:18And that's what I mean where it's junk and not junk.
- 15:22I'm not trying to assert myself to say that junk as in potato shaves and all this nonsense.
- 15:27No, it's a lot of stuff. It's a lot of food, pasta, olive oil.
- 15:32Hey, give me an amen if you love olive oil. I love olive oils.
- 15:35You know, come in handy. One of the best superfood, super oils.
- 15:40But to find out, studies have shown that many of those olive oil in the shelf
- 15:45are just not truly olive oil.
- 15:48They're mixed with soy oil to make it look like whatever oil, that's olive oil.
- 15:54Ha ha ha, Popeye, the sailor, man. Ha ha, let's go. But that's the true facts.
- 16:00That's the true facts. And when I open up in the future, please follow me.
- 16:05I'm going to talk about if you have a food that you'd like to know more.
- 16:09Is this real? What's real? What's fake?
- 16:11I put in that work. But I'm doing this episode because I want people to understand
- 16:16how important food is and how important it is that if we feed our junk,
- 16:21then we feed our mind and our mind is going to be distorted.
- 16:24And trust me, I know a lot of people that got even money and they consume junk.
- 16:30And I have not met one person with a good attitude I'd be straight up People
- 16:34that consume junk is just you become that.
- 16:37And it comes to a point that remember As we get older or
- 16:40let's say As we get more experience in this world
- 16:42The more our body is a little bit different It's not going to digest the food
- 16:46the same way So we got to take care of each other Well once again I'm just giving
- 16:51you a little summary of what's to come Must love out there Make sure that you
- 16:55think of what to eat Don't go out there and just buy food just because you could only afford it.
- 17:01Remember, sometimes there's a price to pay.
- 17:03And I always have said, and I always have said that sometimes when we try to
- 17:10save money, when we can, absolutely, we love it.
- 17:14But when sometimes you do something where you're trying to save money,
- 17:18but yet you decide to buy junk, you'll pay the price for it because there's
- 17:23a lot of people out there that get sick, sick.
- 17:26Not because of the virus, but because of
- 17:29the junk that we eat attacks our immune system get that
- 17:32honey let's go get that real honey 100% honey stay
- 17:35local buy something local make it happen put
- 17:38that I'll heat up with some hot water put some lemon
- 17:41do all that good stuff take care of your body because once again wherever your
- 17:44mind goes your body follows and wherever your body is at your mind will be going
- 17:49forward if not backwards let's make it happen much love you already know the
- 17:53deconstructing topic podcast and i'm out of here peace i'm out peace.
