- 0:01Welcome to authentic living with Roxanne, a place where we have as conversations about
- 0:08things that really matter in our lives.
- 0:12And now here's your host, Roxanne Durgesh.
- 0:39Hi, everyone.
- 0:40It's Roxanne again this week.
- 0:42So nice that you're tuning in again.
- 0:44Today, I have, I I can serve her a dear friend, Lucy called Angela with me and Lucy's, and I've
- 0:51actually worked with Lucy going back about 3 years ago when I was, creating, a business plan
- 0:58for my business and, she helped me along the way when I was just beginning in my business.
- 1:04So Lucy, thanks for joining us today.
- 1:07Hi, good morning.
- 1:07Welcome.
- 1:08Thank you
- 1:08so much for having me, Roxanne.
- 1:10Thanks for being here.
- 1:11So I'm I've got a bit of a buyer that I'll read about Luce but I'm sure as you'll see with
- 1:15Lucy's personality, that this is flat compared to what Lucy's about.
- 1:20So Lucy a communication specialist.
- 1:22She's focused on awareness, strategic clarity, and taking action in your personal and
- 1:27professional life.
- 1:28For 18 years, she has supported organizations as well as entrepreneurs with marketing and
- 1:32communication services.
- 1:34Today, she focuses on furthering the work by developing success tools for improving
- 1:39leadership and decision making for high performance individuals shine on emerge on her
- 1:46work out of necessity for clients to have a quicker better way to achieve ultimate
- 1:52fulfillment and success in their business, and in their lives.
- 1:56She knew she wanted to dedicate her career to helping people thrive.
- 2:00Now she's developed these unique tools and teaching, and she's thrilled to be living this
- 2:05vision in creating this vision into reality.
- 2:08Lucy is a graduate of business communications of Brock University.
- 2:12And she lives here in Niagara as I do, with her husband and her kids.
- 2:18So Lucy, is there anything that I've missed that you'd like to share with the listeners?
- 2:22No.
- 2:25So awesome.
- 2:25So like I said, I had worked with you quite a a I think it's almost about 3 years ago now.
- 2:30When I was just you know, in the infancy and, you really helped me on my path just kind of
- 2:37thinking more of as, as a, you know, therapist into a business person, and I know how helpful
- 2:44it was for me.
- 2:45So, Lucy, tell tell the listeners a little bit about where you're at and what your passion is.
- 2:50I know what your passions are, but, and and your personality.
- 2:53So I often say with Lucy, when you see Lucy, you meet Lucy, and she's got the most beautiful
- 2:58smile.
- 2:58She's so authentic that you, you know, I don't know that it will come across in her voice, but
- 3:02I hope that it will today so that you can get a sense of what people connect with with Lucy.
- 3:07So where we'd like to start
- 3:09most of you.
- 3:10Thank you, Roxanne.
- 3:11I'm so flattering.
- 3:11You know, I really do pride myself on my integrity and my commitment to supporting,
- 3:18people along their journey, their path, my life, my professional life's always been in
- 3:24communications and marketing.
- 3:25So business leaders, directors, VPs.
- 3:29I've always worked with those individuals figuring out, you know, what it is to be in
- 3:35business, how to get clear, how to connect with an audience, how to, just perform at a better
- 3:42level, and communicate well.
- 3:45And so in trying to figure out how to communicate well, what do you have just say how
- 3:51to have that clarity in your voice, it gets really personal very quickly.
- 3:57So shine on is that program that I developed.
- 4:02I launched it in January of 2018, so this year.
- 4:05And I've been figuring out how to support that clarity so that taking action is natural and
- 4:13exciting.
- 4:13And so that led into a personal development tool.
- 4:17And so it's a full circle type of moment where when you're personally clear in what you're
- 4:26doing, how you want to execute, it leads the business decision making.
- 4:32And so, the personal clarity map, I have a picture of one of the handoffs that I use.
- 4:39The personal clarity map feeds the professional clarity map.
- 4:43So they're the same formula.
- 4:45There's 7 steps, 14 questions, and I wholeheartedly believe that It can be that
- 4:51simple even though it is dynamic and complex.
- 4:54So I like to ask a lot of questions.
- 4:56I like to leave things open ended to allow for creativity and innovation and even curiosity in
- 5:03the business in terms of how to be authentic and real and still profitable and, you know,
- 5:10perform well out there in the marketplace.
- 5:11So I pride myself in in working with clients to help tool them up properly and what the
- 5:20feedback's been so far has been, things like you make me so confident.
- 5:24I'm excited to post online, or I had one client say, it's like I got an MBA in a day and stuff
- 5:32like that.
- 5:32So I like being very succinct.
- 5:35My my programs are all, one pagers.
- 5:38It's a big piece of paper, but it's still we just We we dial in and we sit and we focus, and
- 5:45it's all about that, that process of inquiry.
- 5:49Being curious, asking questions, figuring out are we clear, and then take the next step.
- 5:56So I mean, that sounds like I've made something really big, really simple, but that was the
- 6:01goal.
- 6:02So what do you find with people?
- 6:03Right?
- 6:03Cause I I think oftentimes, I you know, when people start in business, sometimes they have a
- 6:09sense of what they wanna do.
- 6:10What kind of what are some of the mean when I when I think of the work shine on, it means
- 6:15just shining into what you want.
- 6:17Mhmm.
- 6:17What what some of the biggest blockages are the the main blockages that you see with business
- 6:22owners sometimes about getting connected to that real core message that they might have in
- 6:27their business.
- 6:28Okay.
- 6:29So there's a few things that I could say.
- 6:32First thing I wanna share is the actual meaning of shine on.
- 6:37To give people context.
- 6:39It is based off of, the existing process, the scientific inquiry process.
- 6:46So scientists use the idea that they experience the universe, the earth, and then they ask a
- 6:52question.
- 6:52They hypothesized something they formulate an experiment.
- 6:56Right?
- 6:56There's this experiencing of life and asking the questions So the shine part of my program
- 7:04is the asking of the w questions, all the who, what, where, when, why, all that stuff.
- 7:11There are specific w questions in the first six steps of the program.
- 7:15The 7th step, the last step is the on part, and that's the how.
- 7:21So we work on our shine.
- 7:23We get clear and then we turn it on and we take action.
- 7:27So get clear take action, shine on.
- 7:30That's how that's come together.
- 7:32Right?
- 7:33So to answer your questions about what I see happening with entrepreneurs and what happening
- 7:39in the marketplace with what I'm experiencing personally with clients.
- 7:43There's a lot of distraction, noise, confusion, insecurity, doubt, There's, like, typical
- 7:49things that happen with people.
- 7:50And the number one thing that I deal with is this distraction factor into the how.
- 7:59So people people are very drawn to the how when they don't have all the w they don't have the
- 8:07shine.
- 8:08They just wanna turn it on.
- 8:09So they wanna skip the they wanna skip the deeper step of really being clear as to the
- 8:16outcomes that they seek for their business.
- 8:18They sometimes even wanna skip how they would actually transact.
- 8:22How why would money change hands?
- 8:24What what is the value that you're creating offering that warrants someone sending you
- 8:30money?
- 8:31In exchange.
- 8:32Right?
- 8:32So as an example, typical typical example happens all the time.
- 8:38A a typical entrepreneur decides to have a business has an idea, and the first thing they
- 8:43decide they need is a logo.
- 8:46Or a website or, a brochure graphics, some version of execution some version of going to
- 8:54the marketplace and presenting themselves and trying to make a transaction happen.
- 8:58So that to me is distraction.
- 9:02Because it's not very confident.
- 9:04It's not very thoughtful and clear.
- 9:07And so I have decided I chosen to lead with this process, with this philosophy that I have
- 9:14in shine on, and that that is that there is this shine piece.
- 9:17We need to get clear about our mission, our vision, our goals, what it is that we're
- 9:22transacting against, the the value we're creating.
- 9:26Honoring who we serve.
- 9:28Who is that customer?
- 9:29What is the pain point we're solving for?
- 9:32All those w things, the w questions, They need to be clearly mapped and resolved, and it's not
- 9:38a process that takes a long time.
- 9:40It's just the process that happens be for executing into the how, getting into marketing
- 9:47and sales and operations and innovating and and looking at results and numbers and reporting,
- 9:52that's the after, that's the effect of all of that first step of getting clear.
- 9:58So Does that help eliminate?
- 10:01It does because I think you're right.
- 10:03Everybody wants to go to metrics.
- 10:04Like, I'm gonna do this.
- 10:05I'm gonna have a brochure.
- 10:06I'm gonna have a logo.
- 10:07I'm gonna have a website.
- 10:09All those things.
- 10:10And then, like, you know, I can think of myself too, Lucy, when the white noise gets in the
- 10:14way, if you're not sure why you're doing what you're doing, you get distracted often.
- 10:19If you think of, you know, you're in mourning.
- 10:21Right?
- 10:21Like, how are your morning supposed to start?
- 10:23Ideally, we know what you're supposed to do.
- 10:26Mhmm.
- 10:26But if you know what the core areas are that you need to focus on first to your whole shine
- 10:32on process, you make sure those things happen first in your day Right.
- 10:37Versus everything else.
- 10:38Right?
- 10:39Somebody needs this.
- 10:39Somebody needs an invoice.
- 10:41Somebody needs you to tell you a little bit about this or that.
- 10:44And then before you know it, I'm, you know, you're like, you're on everybody's kind of
- 10:48clock.
- 10:49And then before you know it, it's been 4 hours and it's like, oh my goodness.
- 10:52What happened here?
- 10:54It's it's it's been a day, and I have been busy busy busy.
- 10:59But I've been off track on my why.
- 11:02Absolutely.
- 11:03And so it's I love that you say that because in both in both the personal clarity map and the
- 11:09professional clarity map, which is these tools, these maps are what guide a session with me,
- 11:16and that's how clients work with me.
- 11:17They book sessions.
- 11:19So they are no one that works with me doesn't understand that we're gonna go through the map.
- 11:24They know what the message is.
- 11:25We're talking about clarity.
- 11:26Clarity leads, in the in the discussions and in the planning and the and in the executing, of
- 11:32those goals.
- 11:33So the first question is why?
- 11:37So we always we don't have to spend hours on it.
- 11:40This isn't, like, some sort of meditative emotional journey that takes an hour every
- 11:45single morning.
- 11:45It's not like that.
- 11:46It's just that when you spend enough time getting clear on those w questions, you're
- 11:52faster, your agility, your responsiveness, your, just profitability goes up because your
- 12:00momentum building and you're not hesitating.
- 12:02You don't have to, think about what your core values are or what your mission is, or is that
- 12:07a client that aligns with what my work is is this a transaction that needs to take place?
- 12:12Like, you make that effortless and clean and clear.
- 12:15It's it's the water is crystal clear.
- 12:17It's not murky at all.
- 12:18And when things start to get cloudy and murky because, you know, there are things that change
- 12:24your day.
- 12:24You can have distractions.
- 12:25You can have things that come up.
- 12:27I mean, you want that.
- 12:28It's an organic experience to be working in a business.
- 12:32You know where that falls.
- 12:35Like, the training of knowing, oh, wait a second.
- 12:37This could fundamentally shift the definition of my business and how I create value, or Wait.
- 12:43This is just helping me get better at how I execute in the how department.
- 12:47Like, which one are we in and does it warrant my time?
- 12:52So on a typical day, my entrepreneurs, my leadership clients, I train them.
- 12:58You spend 15 minutes with your clarity map, your personal clarity map.
- 13:02That's the beginning of your day.
- 13:03You get clear so you can go to work and take action effectively.
- 13:08Then when you show up to work, you do spend a few minutes looking at that clarity map for the
- 13:13business and set your priorities.
- 13:16And this is a fluid thing that goes from one day to the next.
- 13:19So your productivity increases because you've trained yourself, hey.
- 13:22I know how I start my day.
- 13:24I know how I end my day.
- 13:25And I know how I get clear in myself.
- 13:28So naturally, the outcomes are just, like, the pay people are more confident They're happier,
- 13:34they're more relaxed, and they just flow with things are able to handle things that come at
- 13:39them.
- 13:40They're faster.
- 13:41They can build that momentum.
- 13:42Get out there in the marketplace.
- 13:44The biggest thing that's been exciting for me is the the confidence online.
- 13:49Every you know, like, people saying, I've done my clarity map, but now I just wanna post, and
- 13:53I I wanna be on Instagram.
- 13:54And I I get what the Snapchat thing is about, and I have something to say on LinkedIn, and I
- 14:00want to write an article Like, I'm crystal clear about how I create value and how I
- 14:06magnetize and attract clients to me.
- 14:08It's been brilliant.
- 14:10It's but this was this was, you know, 3 years ago, I wasn't very confident and secure in
- 14:16leading in that way and say, hey.
- 14:18Full up.
- 14:18I'm taking over.
- 14:19I'm telling you how it's gonna be, and you're gonna control your time.
- 14:23You're gonna control your your mind.
- 14:25You really gotta take control of your mind here.
- 14:27And understand that, that clarity, that focus, that dialing into it first is everything.
- 14:34It's the game changer.
- 14:36So when I was able to, you know, come up with a way that was simple and something that can grow
- 14:42with a company, that aligns with somebody that's a president.
- 14:47Somebody I've I've had people that are in the startup mode of researching a business, And
- 14:52what happens with them is they're like, oh my gosh.
- 14:56I totally get what it is to have a business.
- 14:58Yeah.
- 14:58You know, like, I get how I create value and why someone gives me money.
- 15:05And then I just get better at creating that value, whatever it is, product or service,
- 15:09create the value, make the transaction.
- 15:13Do you have to exchange and it just goes faster and you get better.
- 15:18And and, I mean, it's been really thrilling for me that the simplicity and the elegance of it
- 15:23has actually resonated and come through in the work, and I'm able to just do more of it.
- 15:30I'm I'm faster too.
- 15:31Sounds like it's your process, and now you've packed it in a way because I think of when we
- 15:36would spend time together was a lot of what you did with me.
- 15:39Yeah.
- 15:40Maybe maybe not bundled with the the the, brand but it sounds like it was the round that
- 15:45because, you know, I often say, you know, when you're clear and I know what the clear I've
- 15:49become Lucy is that I see a no to a lot of things.
- 15:54Before I think, oh, sure.
- 15:56I can do that.
- 15:57Of course, I can do that.
- 15:58You know, you wanna speak here.
- 15:59You wanna do this and And, you know, the clarity that I've gotten it's become, okay, is
- 16:04this where you wanna be?
- 16:06Is it is this the market you wanna be in?
- 16:10Who are you attracting?
- 16:11You know, of course, is this a customer that wants to continue working with you, or what's
- 16:16the value of that connection?
- 16:17But these are when you kinda go, like, you know, you know, all over the place and you're
- 16:22not delineating where you need to be Right.
- 16:26It becomes tiring?
- 16:27And, you know, very tiring.
- 16:29And then you're like, oh, what am I doing?
- 16:31But when you slow down, like you said, like, and really think about it, and a coach.
- 16:35I mean, everybody, obviously, I often say everybody needs a coach or a mentor to be able
- 16:40to do that because As entrepreneurs, we're, you know, you're on your own a lot.
- 16:44You know that.
- 16:45I'm I'm on my own a lot other than when I'm, coaching and and I'm speaking those types of
- 16:50things.
- 16:51And some it's good to kind of have those touch points to be able to say, okay, where are you?
- 16:54Where did you this quarter this week?
- 16:56Where, you know, you were tackling X Y Z, you know, where are you and, and, you know, those
- 17:01touch points?
- 17:02I know for myself, Lucy, that's been vitally important for me.
- 17:05And I, and I can get things done But again, if I'm not clear in what I wanna do, I'm as
- 17:11distractable as it anybody else, you know, the phone starts to ring or somebody wants to have
- 17:15lunch or you know, things happen in our personal lives.
- 17:18Absolutely.
- 17:19There's, you know, that's life.
- 17:20But then at the end of the day, did I get to those touch points of the things that are
- 17:25moving me forward.
- 17:26Even if it's one that I need to do a 5 today, did I did I do that today?
- 17:30And it's exactly so here's here's the construct the way I see it.
- 17:34So and I'm really proud of the fact that this kind of process of inquiry and asking questions
- 17:40helps create the clarity The thing that happens is if I was to give a closed system, take
- 17:47control of how I train and educate and say do it this way, we would lose all the magic and
- 17:55the the just the random serendipity, the special things that happen in life, we would
- 18:02lose that because that would sterilize the environment.
- 18:05So we don't want that.
- 18:07We want that when the bone rings and there's this opportunity, we can entertain the concept,
- 18:12or we come across something online or consume some content that's inspiring.
- 18:16And we think, well, wait a second.
- 18:17How does this This is, you know, potentially shifting my business in some way.
- 18:22You want that to be able.
- 18:24You want that to happen, that inspiration innovation comes from these ideas that are, you
- 18:31know, that can be bonkers off the wall from left field.
- 18:34Like, you don't know where they're coming from.
- 18:35If we don't have a methodology that allows for disruption, if you will, then we can't grow.
- 18:47Right?
- 18:47So I wanted to create a system that allows for that.
- 18:53But then also gives that grounding.
- 18:55So that's why they're always questions because the answers may shift.
- 18:59They're dynamic.
- 19:00We're dynamic or organic.
- 19:01Like, We need to be able to flourish and grow and experience, our environment, the people
- 19:07around us, you know, go to events and things like this and see how that helps enhance and
- 19:14eliminate what we're doing in our work.
- 19:17So continuously asking questions helps for that clarity to evolve as opposed to stagnate
- 19:23because the answer to a certain question 3 months ago and the answer today you know,
- 19:29that's the make or break it sometimes in some businesses because that's how you defined
- 19:33yourself.
- 19:33So that's the limitations placed on the business sometimes.
- 19:37So for me, as an example, I started in January.
- 19:40I was laser focused on business owners.
- 19:43I only wanted to work with leaders and I only wanted to do my business clarity process.
- 19:49That was it.
- 19:51There was no opportunity for anything else.
- 19:54I needed to be narrow.
- 19:56The feedback that came back to me was I need this for my teams.
- 20:00Now that I'm clear, the people reporting to me need to know.
- 20:03I need to be able share my vision and do some training around it.
- 20:07So my business had this evolution, and there was the stimulation of, like, will am I
- 20:13defining myself as now a trainer, an educator in this method, this philosophy that I've come
- 20:19up with, that seems to really work for people.
- 20:22You know?
- 20:23And so my definition of my business brought it.
- 20:26And I said, okay.
- 20:27I'm no longer specifically aligning myself as a business consultant, and specialized in
- 20:34business planning at a high level of vision work with entrepreneurs.
- 20:37I'm going to broaden and include the teams and include, the the planning and team building,
- 20:46the sharing, some sort of experiential stuff, maybe retreats, maybe workshops.
- 20:50That's not clear.
- 20:51I'm but there's this there's this, like, I call it a little sandbox that I now have created to
- 20:56play in because that's the feedback coming back.
- 21:00And so that's what led to the personal clarity map because the teams needed it.
- 21:06They needed to be able to come to work, feel confident, feel self assured that They create
- 21:11value and contribute to the business success, and they're empowered and happy to come in to
- 21:17do that work.
- 21:18The owner is, you know, elated that client that their employees are that passionate and dialed
- 21:25in and clear, and everybody just works better.
- 21:29You know, they're happy when they they feel like, hey, I'm respected for my contribution
- 21:34and that flows both ways.
- 21:36And then what ended up happening, Roxanne, this just happened in the last 2 months.
- 21:41I had, employees and owners say my kid needs this.
- 21:48My teenager, the one that doesn't know what he wants to do, but has to go
- 21:51age wise, mate.
- 21:52What are they gonna do with their life?
- 21:54They need to they need to and so the personal development tool that shine on clarity, not the
- 21:59self awareness piece, the first piece.
- 22:03Became this thing that now I have parents sending me their kids and saying, I want them
- 22:09to have this approach.
- 22:10Of that curiosity, the asking of the questions, so that they're more grounded and more
- 22:17confident in their lives.
- 22:20That to me bridges over into, like, mental health issues and and in the kind of work that
- 22:25you must see, like, people that are clear and confident in their lives, I I am I'm deducing
- 22:33that they're happier people.
- 22:35I mean Absolutely.
- 22:36Absolutely.
- 22:36Because the people that, you know, that I might deal with on on, you know, more mental health
- 22:41and mental wellness, the people that are on not connected to who they are are the ones that
- 22:48second guess everything because they don't have that firm grounding of you know, beliefs
- 22:55values, assumptions about themselves, about the world, about connection, and that in turn, you
- 23:01know, they when in second guessing, that kinda beats their self esteem up all the time.
- 23:06And and then they're starting to try to be validated outside of themselves.
- 23:10Right?
- 23:10So you know, yes, we have to connect, but I I definitely need to kinda know who I am in order
- 23:16to connect effectively with you as a friend.
- 23:19Or my son or a partner or a colleague or another business because if I'm not sure,
- 23:26Right?
- 23:26What am I what am I kind of putting out there?
- 23:28And I think, unfortunately, with teenagers, we're not guiding in that.
- 23:33Generally, I should say in school, they're not guiding them like this.
- 23:37Right?
- 23:38And and then, you know, parents try their best, but sometimes it's like, oh, you're my parents.
- 23:42Right?
- 23:43Like, what do you know kind of thing?
- 23:45Sometimes good to have just a neutral person to help that kid really think through what they
- 23:51already know.
- 23:52I think oftentimes I call it an internal GPS.
- 23:56That's my term for it.
- 23:57Because really, the more connected you get to what is important to you, at the end of the
- 24:02day, Go insight, check it out.
- 24:05Does it fit?
- 24:06Is it not good for me?
- 24:07Is it good for me short term, long term, all those types of things?
- 24:10And then you can kind of make a better decision.
- 24:12Like, you mean, as a psychotherapist coach, that's kinda what I do.
- 24:15So I could see how this would would be an amazing process.
- 24:19And it's and it's one
- 24:20of those things where, so building on what you're saying, what has happened with shine on,
- 24:25I had a client like, the logo, right, the way that it's designed to shine and the on,
- 24:30there's, like, a little switch in the o.
- 24:33Oh, is there?
- 24:33Okay.
- 24:34So but what they said is that when they see this burst of color, they see a shield.
- 24:39Oh, I feel armed.
- 24:42Like, it's my armor.
- 24:44I've I've done the work.
- 24:45I've answered the questions.
- 24:47Nobody can, like, I I don't know what it would be.
- 24:52Like, just affect their confidence, like, bring them down because this has armed them up and
- 24:58built them up that they're secure in themselves and that they're everybody knows they're a work
- 25:03in process.
- 25:04Right?
- 25:05Like, we're all just working on getting better.
- 25:08Being who we are, who are meant to be the work we're meant to do.
- 25:12We're all just a work in process, and it takes the edge off.
- 25:15It didn't accept pressure off.
- 25:17Right?
- 25:17Right.
- 25:17It's like, oh, I'm supposed to get this perfect yesterday.
- 25:20And you're like, oh, goodness.
- 25:21I I think of the evolution that I've gone through in my business.
- 25:24Right.
- 25:24And I was always I'm like, you know, also ready to, like, execute.
- 25:30But I was like, okay.
- 25:31Hold on.
- 25:31What are you doing if you're shifting?
- 25:33Over.
- 25:34Like, I mean, what kind of things have to happen?
- 25:36And I think as entrepreneurs, a lot of times, we're like, go go go go go.
- 25:39I need to get to the endpoints I need to get to transaction to your point, except I'm not
- 25:44really I haven't clarified what is my stealing.
- 25:47What is, yeah, what is my gift?
- 25:48What I'm what do I do?
- 25:50You know, with people that makes them want to come back to see me over and over and over
- 25:55again.
- 25:56Right?
- 25:56So I think when you get into that uniqueness and you get out there, Really, who am I who are
- 26:02you competing or me competing?
- 26:03I'm not competing.
- 26:04I'm just being the best version of who I am.
- 26:06Right.
- 26:06And if someone wants to deal with me, they do.
- 26:08And if they don't wanna deal with me, there's a better fit out there somewhere for them.
- 26:13And, you know, what's really important to me, this has to I want this to come through if
- 26:18nothing more, the most important part of it is that all I've done is put together a tool of
- 26:24asking questions.
- 26:26I am not an expert at all by any means and make no claim to being able to help people with the
- 26:34answers.
- 26:36Okay.
- 26:37Some of sometimes when you ask somebody who they are, what is their why, what is their
- 26:42purpose, and they're like, this can be a very emotionally disrupting kind of question, and
- 26:46they need help.
- 26:47They need people like yourself, and they need someone professional to speak to.
- 26:52And I'm just All I'm doing is I needed to create a tool that that's a map that's just a
- 26:58landing page.
- 26:59It's somewhere to go to see the landscape, see what this journey looks like, and then people
- 27:07need help with it.
- 27:08They need help with the answers.
- 27:10They need help with something really dark and, disturbing comes up in their past or something
- 27:16that's holding them back.
- 27:17These are the that's then becomes the work to flush that through out to get to the next step.
- 27:23So, creating breakthroughs and creating that next level for that person's understanding of
- 27:29who they are and their confidence.
- 27:30Like, you can't build that if you don't address the things that hijack you or or suspend your,
- 27:37your, your confidence.
- 27:38And so that's been the thing that's been the biggest gift in all of this.
- 27:43Is that in creating a a tool that's all about the questions, it leaves it free for whomever
- 27:50to incorporate into their work.
- 27:52So, I've had, in the professional space and the business landscape, when people are running a
- 27:59business, they take their map to their accountant.
- 28:02Or their lawyer, or they go to their operations manager, where they go, and they say, look,
- 28:07this is what we're trying to do.
- 28:08This is these are the w questions that we've answered.
- 28:11Here are the answers.
- 28:12Is the guiding points.
- 28:13This is the leadership that we're taking, the directions that we're giving.
- 28:16How now do we do this?
- 28:18What what resources do we need?
- 28:21How do we execute against this?
- 28:23And it's one page and it's everyone comes together and can clearly understand how to work
- 28:27within that construct.
- 28:29And I'm finding that the same is is happening for the personal side.
- 28:34So Right.
- 28:35Right.
- 28:36Doing you know, they're doing wonderful workshops and retreats and and masterminds and
- 28:40whatever they're doing out there in their personal development, the books that they're
- 28:44reading, the content they're consuming online helps them with figuring out the answers.
- 28:51I'm helping too.
- 28:52I'm doing my best.
- 28:53I'm creating content and telling the stories, and, I've created these hangouts, and and face
- 29:00book.
- 29:01I do Facebook lives on Wednesday at 1 o'clock.
- 29:04I do a shine on hangout for the personal clarity map.
- 29:08So people can download the personal clarity map for free.
- 29:11It's at shineonclaritymap.com.
- 29:14Sign up, download it, work those questions, and join a group of pea, like, come hang out watch
- 29:21the videos, see what comes up.
- 29:24I am trying to contribute to that conversation and do some storytelling around it.
- 29:28But the feedback's been amazing.
- 29:30People messaging me.
- 29:32I get these private messages all the time.
- 29:34Lucy, I did your map and and my anxiety is down when I go to work in the morning.
- 29:38I look at the app, and and I'm not as sad, and I don't think and dwell on the negatives.
- 29:45And, I had someone message me the other day.
- 29:47It got me really emotional.
- 29:48And they said, I'm able to understand what people mean about gratitude now.
- 29:54I I can find things to be grateful for.
- 29:58And, I mean, that's fulfilling my purpose and fulfilling my work.
- 30:02So My map gets clearer because I get all these little check marks saying this is working.
- 30:07This is helping people feel good.
- 30:09You know?
- 30:09So so that's how that that's the ecosystem that I'm playing in right now.
- 30:14It sounds it sounds very lovely, but I know I've worked with you and I know what you're
- 30:17like as a person and how much you give you know, you really do and you you bring you bring
- 30:23it all when you work with someone.
- 30:25So I I I from working with you, and I've worked with other people since.
- 30:30You definitely do.
- 30:31So I think that authenticity obviously shine on is the process, but it's you, really.
- 30:37That's what you give when you work with people.
- 30:39And I think that's an it sounds like an amazing process.
- 30:43So Facebook lives 1 o'clock, on Wednesdays.
- 30:48So, Lucy, so really it's about you know, clarity.
- 30:53Like, with the clarity we get, you know, I'm a mental health expert.
- 30:57So the clarity I get with I'm doing with the workplace.
- 31:00I'm Claire and who I'm gonna serve.
- 31:02So it's clear that your people that are kinda sitting there and they're like, they've got a
- 31:06concept in their brain.
- 31:08Or maybe there are an entrepreneurial, you know, that have been kind of they're doing a
- 31:12bit, but I'm not really sure.
- 31:15What what what what kind of advice would you give someone like that at that point.
- 31:18That's kinda I've tried coaching.
- 31:21It hasn't worked or whatever.
- 31:22You know, what what kind of advice would you keep someone like that?
- 31:25Well, what happens with my plans, typically, how I end up working with them is that they'll
- 31:30download and, they'll connect in some way through social media with me.
- 31:34Do and they'll take a look at the clarity map, and they'll see the questions, and they'll see
- 31:38how that fits for them, how it feels.
- 31:41And when they see that it's a it's a complete experience to go from 1 to 14, those questions
- 31:46that are laid out for them.
- 31:48What happens is if they want the help in the professional world, if they're a business
- 31:52owner, if they're an entrepreneur, if they're a leader, like, a a manager director in a
- 31:56company, what they do is reach out and they do a session with me.
- 32:01And we'll do a professional session.
- 32:03It's 90 minutes for the first one.
- 32:05We go through the map together, and we see what we can uncover and how we can illuminate
- 32:10process.
- 32:10So, one on ones with me are very powerful because it's it's that dedicated time to think
- 32:17about where they're at.
- 32:18So, that's the first step.
- 32:20And then when when they have that experience, they can make that determination if this is the
- 32:27kind of work that's gonna help them accelerate, get clear, do more of that taking action type
- 32:34of thing.
- 32:35Where it's gonna be effective and profitable for their business.
- 32:38So, or their careers even professionally.
- 32:41So That has been the cascade.
- 32:43It's been like, you can get to know the process and get a feel for it in the personal clarity
- 32:47methods out there free for download.
- 32:51Get in touch with me and inquire if you want to book a session.
- 32:54And and then we go from there.
- 32:56You instantly know after that 1st 90 minute session how much this type of process helps
- 33:01you.
- 33:01Now are you doing any workshops
- 33:03or anything locally suit?
- 33:05I am planning on doing, workshops the scope of them, this is where I'm trying to get clear as
- 33:13well.
- 33:13There's not a lot of clarity around how I would do that and what the audience would be.
- 33:17I do them coming into businesses.
- 33:20Okay.
- 33:20I I
- 33:20do those.
- 33:21Those are easy because the leadership decides and that gets booked.
- 33:24And we have a morning or we have a full day, that type of thing.
- 33:28But out in the community at large right now, I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to be
- 33:32doing, like, a month the event, that kind of thing.
- 33:34I'm still figuring that out.
- 33:36So I like to get feedback and inquiries, through social media are in my inbox, and I
- 33:41kinda go from there.
- 33:43Right now, it's it's not a clear point in my map.
- 33:46I'm gonna admit it.
- 33:48You mean, you gotta shine on on the workshop end?
- 33:52Well, you know what?
- 33:53We've got the clarity map.
- 33:55We've got the sessions.
- 33:57Yeah.
- 33:57Yeah.
- 33:57Got packages for sessions 1 on 1, but in the group setting, that's not within an
- 34:03organization itself, that one's not clear.
- 34:06But I am working.
- 34:07I mean, I I I'm ready to go.
- 34:10This is the work I'm committed to doing.
- 34:12So Awesome.
- 34:13Awesome.
- 34:13Well, you've been obviously busy because I haven't seen you, I think, in about oh, 8 or 9
- 34:18months, at least, I think, since we've seen each other last.
- 34:21Yeah.
- 34:21Yeah.
- 34:22Before the new year,
- 34:22I haven't seen you since I launched.
- 34:25No.
- 34:25Only virtually.
- 34:27Yeah.
- 34:27Only virtually.
- 34:28Only virtually.
- 34:29Person.
- 34:29We need I know we're we're 15 we're 15 minutes apart.
- 34:33This is silly.
- 34:34So you know what, Lucy?
- 34:36This has been, again, as an entrepreneur myself, you know, it really makes sense what
- 34:41you're saying because I know how much I flooded around and and still ready to some degree do.
- 34:46But now I'm clear on what I wanna do.
- 34:48I wanna speak.
- 34:49I wanna train.
- 34:50I wanna, you know, and coach.
- 34:52And that's something that I've been, you know, obviously doing a lot more.
- 34:57And I could have saved myself a lot of time had I kind of stuck with a process, but I think
- 35:03when you begin a business, you, you know, you kind of touch things and you and then you're
- 35:08like, oh, I like this.
- 35:09I like that.
- 35:10I like this.
- 35:10But when you can become clear, then you realize I got 7 hours in my day.
- 35:15You know, where where is my investment?
- 35:17At the end of the, you know, where where do I need to take my time.
- 35:21So I think if this process that you're talking about helps people either, like you said,
- 35:25personally or professionally, that's that's definitely a gift.
- 35:28I definitely have I do have a goal of wanting to shine on to be a process that people go to
- 35:34first when they're starting out because That will still allow for that in, like, that
- 35:40organic experiential side to come in because you are feeling out the environment.
- 35:45You are determining you're gonna go into the marketplace to create a business and transact.
- 35:49And so that has to stay organic and that creativity and innovation, all that kind of all
- 35:56those things, they're not they're not something you can control.
- 35:59So people need to be kind and gentle with themselves when they're starting a business
- 36:03that is entering this arena.
- 36:06Of discomfort and, unpredictability and that that's okay and that that's part of it, but you
- 36:13can get grounded and get rooted in a process that's going to help grow and guide, the
- 36:19decision making and and how you actually implement things.
- 36:23What sounds lovely.
- 36:25So, I so if anybody's, looking to connect, they can, reach you on your websites.
- 36:32Or on social media?
- 36:33All over social media, I'm, my handle is Lucy C.
- 36:37Dot, l u c y c d o t, and shine on clarity map.com is where you can start with a personal
- 36:44clarity map.
- 36:45And then just message me.
- 36:47DM me, personal message, and we can get the conversation started.
- 36:51And soon, there will be, an automated system for booking into my calendar for session.
- 36:57So that's awesome.
- 36:58Awesome.
- 36:58Awesome.
- 36:59Okay.
- 36:59Well, thanks again.
- 37:00So, you know, if I can kind of try this and upsize all the things they've learned, is is
- 37:06when you're connected with the w's, all the w's, like you said, who, what, when, and why,
- 37:11in reference to whatever that goal is, whether it's a career or relationship or, friendships
- 37:18or whatever it is, the clarity become that you know if you're off course or whether you're on
- 37:22on direct root at times organically, you're gonna get steps.
- 37:26Side stepped.
- 37:28That's normal.
- 37:28That's life.
- 37:29But when once you become clearer, then that I think your footing becomes more secure so that
- 37:35if you get toppled a little bit, you don't completely get toppled, but you kind of can
- 37:39redirect yourself to where you need to be.
- 37:41So again, Lucy, thanks so much for everyone listening again to authentic living with
