- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So I want to talk about cherishing the moments, because
- 0:34this time of year is so important to cherish the moments
- 0:38that you have with the people that you love.
- 0:40And I have a few friends who have lost loved ones just in the
- 0:45last couple weeks and obviously anytime you lose somebody it's
- 0:49terrible. But losing them over the holiday
- 0:51season is even seems heavier and seems sadder and it's just not
- 0:56good for anybody. And in the process of that, I'm
- 0:59also watching that my son who's so independent and has, you
- 1:04know, he's 14, but he has so many gifts that he's going to
- 1:09gain through this period of time in his life.
- 1:11And he's I I listen to him talk and interact with other people.
- 1:15And he has a job two days a week, and he's working really
- 1:18hard at cultivating friendships and doing all of these amazing
- 1:23things that young people do. And I look and I say, you know,
- 1:27it's crazy. I don't step on Legos anymore.
- 1:30I used to say Legos were worse than fire walking, and they
- 1:33really are. But I don't step on Legos
- 1:36anymore because they're not around.
- 1:38And and now it's, you know, different things.
- 1:42Work boots are there, dirty boots are in the hallway and his
- 1:46thermos isn't cleaned out from work.
- 1:49And his closer and a lump on the floor and you know, I could go
- 1:54on and on with the list of all the little things that he does
- 1:57that are not appropriate or in line with how I would say I
- 2:03would want him to be like, you know, be neater, be this, be
- 2:06that. But I recognize that in
- 2:09cherishing the moments and realizing there are not Legos
- 2:12around the house anymore and there aren't sticky fingers
- 2:16touching everything anymore, that he's growing up and he's
- 2:21going to be out of the house before you know it.
- 2:24And you realize, gosh, I should have cherished those Legos a
- 2:28little bit more. I should have taken the time to
- 2:30pause. I should have, you know, put
- 2:33myself in a position of complete awareness around how I wanted
- 2:36him to, you know, know that I was there and helping him.
- 2:41And by doing that, it forces me to now the time that I have.
- 2:45When I recognize that right now, it puts me in that little box
- 2:48and forces me to say, wait, stop, take the time.
- 2:51So when I'm in the middle of working some on something, like
- 2:54today I was getting ready and go out in the morning.
- 2:59It's really early, It's quiet. He comes out and he says, hey,
- 3:01you want to come see something cool.
- 3:03And I mean, it's like the sun isn't even up yet and he's
- 3:06already saying you want to see something cool.
- 3:07And it had to do with his fish tanks because he loves his fish
- 3:10tanks. And I really didn't want to go
- 3:12see the fish tank. But you know what I did?
- 3:14I put down everything I was doing and I went and saw the
- 3:16fish tank, because how many times is he going to ask me to
- 3:19go see the fish tank? I don't know.
- 3:21It's going to be limited. And I'm going to go every single
- 3:23time because I want him to realize that his his interests
- 3:28matter to me. And I think we all get wrapped
- 3:31up in this. We all get wrapped up in
- 3:32ourselves. And yes, we have to take care of
- 3:34ourselves, but we also have to realize that we need to cherish
- 3:37the moments. Because if we do not cherish
- 3:40those little moments, they slip away.
- 3:41And before you know it, there are no little moments to pay
- 3:44attention to. They're all gone.
- 3:46And you're feeling pretty lonely that you haven't seen those
- 3:48little moments. So cherish them.
- 3:51Work through that for yourself. Create those moments in your
- 3:54head and know that those are your moments.
- 3:56That was a cherished moment. Go back, Write a list, make.
- 4:00Make a decision to just focus in on it.
- 4:03Because I promise you, it makes life happier.
- 4:05And it makes life a lot more peaceful, a lot more tolerable,
- 4:10a lot more exciting, depending upon where you are in this
- 4:13process. But it's always making it
- 4:15better. All right, my friends, I hope
- 4:18you have a blessed day and this cherished moment of being out
- 4:20here with you this morning and watching the chickens all come
- 4:24out the door and start mucking around and all the rainwater and
- 4:28everything that was leftover. It's quite the gift.
- 4:32All right. I hope you have a blessed day
- 4:34and I'll see you tomorrow. Bye.
