  Speaker 1: Acts eleven shows us something powerful and we're gonna look
• 4:50
  Speaker 1: at it in this chapter. Now, what the enemy meant
• 4:56
  Speaker 1: for destruction, God used it for a expansion and we're
• 5:02
  Speaker 1: gonna see persecution in this chapter. But I've said this
• 5:06
  Speaker 1: before persecution actually helps the church. It never really hurts
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: the church, right, and the enemy knows this. So we're
• 5:16
  Speaker 1: gonna see this in this chapter. Now, in this episode,
• 5:23
  Speaker 1: they were first called Christians, and that is actually our tile.
• 5:29
  Speaker 1: Now we'll see how persecution didn't silence the church, it
• 5:33
  Speaker 1: spread it and it grows. Amen. So let's pick it
• 5:41
  Speaker 1: up in Firse nineteen where we're gonna say that they
• 5:47
  Speaker 1: were scattered, but they were not silenced. And I'm coming
• 5:51
  Speaker 1: at you from the new King James. And it says
• 5:54
  Speaker 1: now those who were scattered after the persecution that a
• 6:00
  Speaker 1: rose over Stephen traveled as far as I can't pronounce
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: that name, Penoscevia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: no one but the Jews only. Now I find this
• 6:22
  Speaker 1: pretty interesting, how they went and they preached the word,
• 6:28
  Speaker 1: but they only preached it to the Jews. And we
• 6:30
  Speaker 1: just went over the chapter in chapter ten how Peter
• 6:35
  Speaker 1: was sent to the house of a gentile. So we
• 6:40
  Speaker 1: see that this movement right here is fresh and it's new,
• 6:44
  Speaker 1: and it still has to impact the rest of the community,
• 6:48
  Speaker 1: which it has over the years. But the scattering of
• 6:52
  Speaker 1: believers was not accidental, not at all. It was strategic
• 7:00
  Speaker 1: and God's plan to spread the Gospel of Christ. Now,
• 7:05
  Speaker 1: Stephan's death did not stop the church, it launched it.
• 7:11
  Speaker 1: But notice this, they were preaching yet still limited and
• 7:17
  Speaker 1: that's by their habits, by their traditions. Right, God was
• 7:21
  Speaker 1: stretching geographically faster than the theology, and we talked about
• 7:30
  Speaker 1: that before. You know, yes, the Gospel can spread geographically,
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: but God also has to change the hearts in the
• 7:40
  Speaker 1: minds of the people as they are spreading the word. Amen.

  Speaker 1: And he's still doing this today. A man, it is awesome. Now,
• 7:52
  Speaker 1: I do not want to forget our brother who has persecuted,
• 7:57
  Speaker 1: our brother, Charlie Kirk, and we know that he was assassinated.

  Speaker 1: And I don't care the political things behind it and
• 8:07
  Speaker 1: all the conspiracies all that right that people can dive into.
• 8:11
  Speaker 1: But I know one thing. People were emboldened after that.
• 8:17
  Speaker 1: The church rose up right, and I believe that we
• 8:23
  Speaker 1: are living in that time again where great persecution will
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: be at our doorstep. All right, now, we're gonna check
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: them out. There's gonna be a breakthrough here in Antioch
• 8:38
  Speaker 1: here in verse twenty. But some of them were men
• 8:42
  Speaker 1: from Cyprus and Sirene, who when they had come to Antioch,
• 8:49
  Speaker 1: spoke to the Helenists preaching the Lord Jesus. Now, if
• 8:55
  Speaker 1: we can remember earlier in the Book of Acts, the
• 8:58
  Speaker 1: Helenists are the Jews, but they were influenced by the
• 9:03
  Speaker 1: Grecian culture. You know, they were basically Greeks, but they
• 9:09
  Speaker 1: were Jews. Okay, So now it's starting to expand. Now,
• 9:15
  Speaker 1: this wasn't in apostle command. This was spirit led boldness.
• 9:23
  Speaker 1: Regular believers crossed the line first. And this is how
• 9:28
  Speaker 1: it should be in the church. It should be everyone
• 9:31
  Speaker 1: should be evangelists, right. It shouldn't be left up to
• 9:35
  Speaker 1: the apostles and the prophets and the pastors to evangelize
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: all of us as the body should. Evangelists should evangelize
• 9:46
  Speaker 1: like our prayers should be always to give us a
• 9:49
  Speaker 1: heart and a burden for souls for those who are lost,
• 9:54
  Speaker 1: to always talk about Jesus. And the hand of the
• 9:58
  Speaker 1: Lord was with them, and a great number believed and
• 10:03
  Speaker 1: turned to the Lord. Hallelujah. Now, when the hand of
• 10:07
  Speaker 1: the Lord is with us, that makes the difference altogether.
• 10:13
  Speaker 1: God is always about people. The Gospel is a people business. Amen.

  Speaker 1: If you want to touch the heart of God, serve
• 10:23
  Speaker 1: less in love his people. Amen. Now, when the Lord's
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: hand is present, results will follow. We will see the
• 10:32
  Speaker 1: fruit to that. It's not because of our methods, but
• 10:36
  Speaker 1: because of our obedience. We keep coming back to this.
• 10:40
  Speaker 1: A true minister cares more about obedience than anything else.
• 10:46
  Speaker 1: And they didn't just believe they turned. Conversion always involves
• 10:54
  Speaker 1: direction change. Amen. Now that's a T shirt somehow. If
• 11:00
  Speaker 1: you are saved, did you change your direction? Right? If
• 11:06
  Speaker 1: you didn't change your direction, then you're not saved if
• 11:09
  Speaker 1: you have not been converted. So that we need to
• 11:13
  Speaker 1: add that to our paralyzed that we will get authentic
• 11:16
  Speaker 1: conversions from people God, and that our lives will be
• 11:20
  Speaker 1: authentically converted over to Him. Amen. Hallelujah. Now we're gonna
• 11:30
  Speaker 1: take a look at the life of Barnabas. Barnabas is
• 11:35
  Speaker 1: going to take center stage. In chapter twenty two. The
• 11:39
  Speaker 1: news of these things came to the ears of the
• 11:42
  Speaker 1: church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go
• 11:47
  Speaker 1: as far as Antioch. Now Jerusalem does it shut down?
• 11:53
  Speaker 1: They send encouragement. Now that's wisdom. Now Jerusalem, we will say,
• 12:00
  Speaker 1: is like the First Church, is like the head church,
• 12:04
  Speaker 1: but they sent out ministers to help those who are
• 12:09
  Speaker 1: freshly into the faith. That verse twenty three. Then he
• 12:15
  Speaker 1: came and had seen the grace of God. Hallelujah. He
• 12:19
  Speaker 1: witnessed it for himself. He was glad. Now when you
• 12:24
  Speaker 1: see the grace of God, does that touch you? Do
• 12:28
  Speaker 1: you rejoice when you see the grace of God moving
• 12:31
  Speaker 1: in the lives of others? We need to pray, Lord,
• 12:34
  Speaker 1: show us where your grace is moving in our community,
• 12:38
  Speaker 1: and let us show up to be encouragements. You know,
• 12:41
  Speaker 1: every Paul need a Barnabas. Barnabas is an encourager, and
• 12:48
  Speaker 1: it says he encouraged them all that with purpose of heart,
• 12:52
  Speaker 1: they should continue with the Lord. Now, that's Keith, you
• 12:56
  Speaker 1: need to high light the scripture. This is what we
• 13:00
  Speaker 1: need to be telling others. This is discipleship, and this
• 13:04
  Speaker 1: is what we need to remember ourselves to purpose our
• 13:09
  Speaker 1: hearts in the Lord and to continue. It's not just
• 13:15
  Speaker 1: saying a prayer then walking away. We have to continue
• 13:19
  Speaker 1: with the Lord and we have to purpose in our heart.
• 13:22
  Speaker 1: That's a whole study right there. Because our heart is
• 13:25
  Speaker 1: an issue of all things. All the Bible says guard
• 13:31
  Speaker 1: your heart with all diligence, for out of it are
• 13:33
  Speaker 1: the issues of life. We will be judged. Out of
• 13:37
  Speaker 1: the things and our hearts. Our heart is key on
• 13:40
  Speaker 1: what if we go to heaven or hell. Amen. The
• 13:45
  Speaker 1: Lord wants our heart and the enemy wants to molest it.
• 13:50
  Speaker 1: So we have to guard our hearts and cleanse it
• 13:54
  Speaker 1: and protect it now. And one of the ways to
• 13:56
  Speaker 1: do it is to continue in the word. Amen, continue
• 14:01
  Speaker 1: to show up to the podcast, continue to do things
• 14:05
  Speaker 1: that will help your spiritual life, that will give you
• 14:09
  Speaker 1: a healthy heart. Now, Barnabas recognize genuine grace at work,
• 14:16
  Speaker 1: and it was not disorder at all. Barnabas didn't come
• 14:23
  Speaker 1: policing the movement. He came to affirment. And that's all
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: we really need from our leaders and pastors is to
• 14:33
  Speaker 1: bring confirmation and to bring definition and to confirm God's grace,
• 14:40
  Speaker 1: not to police it or try to control it or
• 14:43
  Speaker 1: try to make it something that God never intended it
• 14:48
  Speaker 1: to be. Amen, hallelujah. Healthy leaders recognize God's work even
• 14:55
  Speaker 1: when it looks unfamiliar, to recognize the mind and the
• 15:03
  Speaker 1: heart in the hand of God. Hallelujah all right. Verse
• 15:06
  Speaker 1: twenty four. For he was a good man, full of
• 15:10
  Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit and a faith. Now that phrase, I
• 15:15
  Speaker 1: like that. Are you a man full of the Holy
• 15:17
  Speaker 1: Spirit and a faith? These things need to balance our lives. Amen,
• 15:24
  Speaker 1: And a great many people were added to the Lord.

  Speaker 1: I believe that if we're full, if we are full
• 15:32
  Speaker 1: of the Holy Spirit and a faith, that we will
• 15:36
  Speaker 1: impact the community around us. Hallelujah. Amen. Now our character matters.

  Speaker 1: God uses people who can handle growth. If we're full
• 15:53
  Speaker 1: of the Holy Spirit and a faith, God will add
• 16:00
  Speaker 1: to our ministries. Amen. I believe it. Now this is
• 16:09
  Speaker 1: where a name is given in verse twenty five, and
• 16:13
  Speaker 1: Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. Now Saul comes
• 16:23
  Speaker 1: into this picture. Now Barnabas knew he had needed help.
• 16:31
  Speaker 1: Strong leaders aren't threatened by partnership, and so I thought,
• 16:39
  Speaker 1: this is interesting. Barnabas probably could have made this his
• 16:44
  Speaker 1: own ministry. He probably could have put his name on
• 16:48
  Speaker 1: the building, the Ministry of Barnabas and try to make
• 16:52
  Speaker 1: a name for himself. But no, this man said, let
• 16:56
  Speaker 1: me go and find Saul. He knew something about Saul.
• 17:03
  Speaker 1: He knew that Saul would be able to help these people.
• 17:10
  Speaker 1: Maybe there was something in Saul that would grow that
• 17:14
  Speaker 1: the Lord was doing. He didn't just try to keep
• 17:18
  Speaker 1: this to himself, like I'm the one who was sent
• 17:20
  Speaker 1: from Jerusalem from the head church. You know how we are.
• 17:26
  Speaker 1: You know, if our head church, our head pastors sends
• 17:28
  Speaker 1: us into some type of ministry situation, how many of
• 17:34
  Speaker 1: us are going to go seek somebody else to come
• 17:37
  Speaker 1: and lead it or to be a part of it. Right?

  Speaker 1: We know because of the Book of Acts, if we
• 17:45
  Speaker 1: read it before that Barnabas and Paul do a lot
• 17:51
  Speaker 1: of ministry together. But Paul was kind of considered the
• 17:55
  Speaker 1: leader in that circle. Now when he in verse twenty six,

  Speaker 1: when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch.

  Speaker 1: So it was that for a while, I mean for
• 18:10
  Speaker 1: a whole year, they assembled with the church and taught
• 18:14
  Speaker 1: a great many people, and the disciples were first called
• 18:19
  Speaker 1: Christians in Antioch. Amen. Now the name Christian means belonging
• 18:28
  Speaker 1: to Christ. Now, I think it's very interesting here because
• 18:35
  Speaker 1: I've heard pastors and even my pastor say that God
• 18:40
  Speaker 1: did not give us this name. This name was given
• 18:43
  Speaker 1: to us by men. We were called the way before this,
• 18:50
  Speaker 1: or the Bible just calls us believers or saints. But
• 18:58
  Speaker 1: I don't really see this term ever giving directly by God.

  Speaker 1: And you know, God is good at giving people names,
• 19:08
  Speaker 1: naming things, right. He renamed people in the Bible time
• 19:13
  Speaker 1: and time again. He named Abram to Abraham. He named
• 19:18
  Speaker 1: Sarah Sarai to Sarah. Right, he names Saul to Paul,
• 19:26
  Speaker 1: and he called him Peter. What was his name? I
• 19:31
  Speaker 1: think it was Simon, Peter or anyway, you know what
• 19:34
  Speaker 1: I'm trying to say. But we don't read where God
• 19:38
  Speaker 1: actually gave us this name. This name was given to
• 19:41
  Speaker 1: us by men. The name means means belonging to Christ.

  Speaker 1: It was like likely given by the outsiders who saw
• 19:56
  Speaker 1: Christ reflected in their lives. I mean that's I mean,

  Speaker 1: I don't think that's a bad thing. You know, I

  Speaker 1: want Christ to be reflected in my life and to
• 20:10
  Speaker 1: a point where people will call me that. Right. This

  Speaker 1: wasn't a label they chose, right, It was a reputation

  Speaker 1: that they lived Christians. Now, they didn't just believe in Christ.

  Speaker 1: They looked like him. And that's the difference. Do you

  Speaker 1: believe or do you look like? Christian wasn't a title,

  Speaker 1: It was a testimony. Let me say that again. Christian

  Speaker 1: was not a title. Christian was a testimony, and I

  Speaker 1: the narrow road is difficult and there's few that find it.

  Speaker 1: There's gonna be a few that actually enter into the kingdom.

  Speaker 1: And I'm talking about those who go to church. You know,

  Speaker 1: those who walk away from Christ are not the most dangerous.

  Speaker 1: Those are the real and like you can respect them.

  Speaker 1: As even a book of Revelation, God says, whether you

  Speaker 1: be hot or cold, but if you're look warm, I

  Speaker 1: go to church, those who sing worship songs, but yet

  Speaker 1: they have not yielded their lives to Christ. And basically,

  Speaker 1: if you still think you can do this your way,

  Speaker 1: if you think you don't need a church, you think

  Speaker 1: you don't need to read your Bible, you think you

  Speaker 1: don't need to obey God, if you don't think you

  Speaker 1: need to be converted and delivered in all that, chances

  Speaker 1: are you're not going to make it. A man. We

  Speaker 1: have to have a healthy fear of God, and we
• 26:42
  Speaker 1: got to allow God to change our lives, and that
• 26:47
  Speaker 1: means change our thought life, what we think in our opinion.

  Speaker 1: We can't make this up on our own. We have

  Speaker 1: to have a postur of obedience. If the Lord says
• 26:58
  Speaker 1: go to church, we need to be in church. If

  Speaker 1: the Lord says give, we need to give. If the

  Speaker 1: Lord says pray, we need to pray. We need to
• 27:05
  Speaker 1: seek him. And it takes discipline, it takes a mind change,
• 27:10
  Speaker 1: it takes a lot of this. But I'm gonna be
