- 0:21Speaker 2: It is twenty two minutes past eight o'clock. You're listening
- 0:23Speaker 2: to ask the expert WCCHS, the Voice of Charleston. Thanks
- 0:26Speaker 2: for tuning in on this Tuesday morning. A little nicer
- 0:30Speaker 2: morning than it was yesterday. Still not super warm, but
- 0:34Speaker 2: a little chilly as you're driving into work this morning,
- 0:36Speaker 2: nothing too bad though, whether's okay. Visibility is fun. Just
- 0:39Speaker 2: did the traffic report as well, so everything is Everything
- 0:42Speaker 2: is pretty good as you're coming in this morning and
- 0:45Speaker 2: headed in the work. I'm Del Kouber joining me in
- 0:47Speaker 2: studio this morning. You may have just heard from a
- 0:49Speaker 2: Greeb Dental Group. Doctor Carson Henley is here as well
- 0:52Speaker 2: as doctor Stephen Greeb. Doctor Stephen, good morning. How you
- 0:55Speaker 2: doing this morning?
- 0:55Speaker 3: I'm doing great, Thank you very well.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And doctor Carson, how are you this morning? Well, I
- 0:59Speaker 2: just learned that traffics great, so I feel good. Yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 2: traffic wasn't bad. Did you guys have any problems coming
- 1:03Speaker 2: this morning?
- 1:03Speaker 3: It was it was a little a little uh backed
- 1:05Speaker 3: up is as you reported.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Yeah, and coming in downtown was congested a bit, but
- 1:12Speaker 4: but we made it. And I'm always so like nervous
- 1:15Speaker 4: listening to the radio, coming to the radio here in Dale.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I'm like, he's there waiting on me.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I'm gonna be late.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I'm right here. This morning, I got the first traffic
- 1:24Speaker 2: from my house, but it was early man. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That's very true. If you have any question, hey, maybe
- 1:34Speaker 2: even sitting on a dental hygiene question for a month
- 1:37Speaker 2: or so, or if you have something that's uh that's
- 1:39Speaker 2: come up or come out as it it might happen
- 1:41Speaker 2: with teeth, You're welcome to gi us to call this morning.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Three zerre a four three four five fifty fifty eight.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Three zer a fourth three four five fifty fifty eight.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You can find out more about the greed Dental Group
- 1:48Speaker 2: online Greeve Dentalgroup dot com, g H A R E B.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Greeve Dentalgroup dot com. We'll get you more information for
- 1:54Speaker 2: the Greeve Dental Group as we go along here today.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You can get the majority of the information there at
- 1:58Speaker 2: that website. But we have a lot of stuff that
- 2:00Speaker 2: we want to talk about this morning and you can
- 2:02Speaker 2: wait in as well. You can control the conversation with
- 2:05Speaker 2: a dental problem that you have, or maybe a loved
- 2:07Speaker 2: one who's not getting things addressed, or maybe you just
- 2:10Speaker 2: have a persistent issue that you're not sure how to resolve.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Or what we've come to find out is you had
- 2:15Speaker 2: something looked at years ago, and technology is now caught
- 2:18Speaker 2: up to such a point where maybe it's worth while
- 2:20Speaker 2: having a look again. So you can give us a
- 2:22Speaker 2: call this morning if you have any questions. Three zero
- 2:23Speaker 2: four three four five fifty eight fifty eight. Three zero four,
- 2:26Speaker 2: three four five fifty eight fifty eight. So, gentlemen, how
- 2:28Speaker 2: you been doing? Everything? Going all right?
- 2:30Speaker 4: No mandling this wild weather? But I think we're we're
- 2:34Speaker 4: finally getting to the end of the winter, hopefully.
- 2:37Speaker 3: But we'll be nicee. We'll see.
- 2:38Speaker 4: It's still a little chilly this morning at the get
- 2:42Speaker 4: a few block walk in on the way here, and
- 2:43Speaker 4: it was it.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Was colder than I thought it was cool.
- 2:46Speaker 5: We're doing all right, but fortunately he chose a good jacket.
- 2:49Speaker 5: It's light but also thick enough to keep you on
- 2:52Speaker 5: the only reason I'm bringing that up is that we
- 2:54Speaker 5: were the same jacket today.
- 2:55Speaker 6: Ah ah, Yes.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yes, And actually this time of year, your jacket choice
- 2:59Speaker 2: is a very very important choice because you don't want
- 3:03Speaker 2: to end up having to carry it home, you know,
- 3:05Speaker 2: And that's what I end up doing doing sometimes it
- 3:06Speaker 2: warms up so much and you have to carry the
- 3:08Speaker 2: jacket home, you know, and that's just something else in
- 3:10Speaker 2: your arms.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Man.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it is very true, very true.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Play starf that we're going to talk about this when
- 3:14Speaker 2: we're want to talk about some new equipment that you
- 3:18Speaker 2: may see in the dental offices. Were going to talk
- 3:20Speaker 2: about some different things along those lines. Also, you know,
- 3:23Speaker 2: your different options on dental chairs and what those things mean,
- 3:27Speaker 2: maybe something to do with like the ambience and and
- 3:30Speaker 2: actually when you're having the work done, what it means
- 3:33Speaker 2: to have all of that staged nicely. In things along
- 3:35Speaker 2: those lines, We're going to talk a little bit about
- 3:37Speaker 2: lasers that cut teeth, composite technology and all types of
- 3:41Speaker 2: things that's going to help you fabricate a smile and
- 3:43Speaker 2: things that might help you out. Tons of things to
- 3:45Speaker 2: talk about this morning. If any of these things catch
- 3:48Speaker 2: your attention, give us a call. Three zero four three
- 3:49Speaker 2: four five fifty eight fifty eight three zero four three
- 3:52Speaker 2: four five fifty eight fifty eight. So what's the first
- 3:53Speaker 2: thing to talk about. We're going to update equipment.
- 3:55Speaker 4: That's right, I'm going to Doctor Henley has had a
- 3:58Speaker 4: new purchase. That's excited about that. I wanted him to
- 4:02Speaker 4: enlighten our listeners about what's new in the dental equipment world.
- 4:07Speaker 5: Well, good goodness, gracious, I actually got a call this
- 4:09Speaker 5: morning from my lovely staff. They're amazing, but they kind
- 4:14Speaker 5: of called me in a bit of a panic because
- 4:16Speaker 5: they said, we have a large truck in the front
- 4:19Speaker 5: of our building and they say we have a dental
- 4:21Speaker 5: chair ready to deliver. And I went, oh, oh, I'm
- 4:25Speaker 5: not there. You know, I will be on the radio eight.
- 4:27Speaker 5: And I told them to come at eight. But the
- 4:29Speaker 5: people that are going to install, I said, tell them
- 4:31Speaker 5: to talk to these people and then anyway, so we
- 4:34Speaker 5: have a new dental chair being installed. I'm just trying
- 4:37Speaker 5: to update my practice slowly but surely, to honestly come
- 4:41Speaker 5: up to stuff with doctor Stevens practice, because he has
- 4:44Speaker 5: invested some good time and money and energy making sure
- 4:48Speaker 5: his practice is top tier. For example, whenever you go
- 4:52Speaker 5: to his practice and soon to me my practice, you
- 4:56Speaker 5: can actually get a massage as you're sitting in the chair. Whoa,
- 5:01Speaker 5: it's not a woman or a man massaging gets the
- 5:03Speaker 5: chair massaging. And I want to be clear on that,
- 5:05Speaker 5: but the dental chair actually has a massaging function. And
- 5:09Speaker 5: what fun fact, if you leave it on overnight, it
- 5:11Speaker 5: does make noise. So that's one of those things I
- 5:13Speaker 5: remember when I first started working for me, is like,
- 5:15Speaker 5: make sure to turn it off otherwise you might break it.
- 5:16Speaker 6: I'm like, yes, sir.
- 5:18Speaker 5: And also some some chairs out there also have a
- 5:20Speaker 5: heating function. The one I'm installing does not have that function,
- 5:24Speaker 5: but if you want, we have blankets. So that's that's
- 5:27Speaker 5: This is all part of trying to make sure when
- 5:30Speaker 5: you the patient come into one of our offices, you
- 5:34Speaker 5: the patient, feel like you are the most important person
- 5:37Speaker 5: in that office. It's not about the doctor, it's not
- 5:39Speaker 5: about the staff, it's not about anything else. It's about
- 5:43Speaker 5: making sure that you're comfortable, making sure that you know
- 5:46Speaker 5: that you're being taken care of when it comes to
- 5:48Speaker 5: our own not only our expertise, in our in our knowledge,
- 5:51Speaker 5: but make sure that you are comforted that if you're
- 5:55Speaker 5: if you're thirsty, will provide you water, if you are
- 5:59Speaker 5: in pain, we'll get you out of pain, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 5: that's kind of our job, right, So we were trying
- 6:03Speaker 5: to invest in things that are going to make that
- 6:05Speaker 5: experience more enjoyable, not just the smiling faces that we
- 6:10Speaker 5: always try to hark on harp on, but the equipment
- 6:13Speaker 5: as well.
- 6:14Speaker 2: And that goes to everything from something large like a chair,
- 6:17Speaker 2: to the smaller tools as well. Right, I mean staying
- 6:21Speaker 2: up to date with the most recent in the different
- 6:24Speaker 2: hand tools and different things like that. That helps too.
- 6:26Speaker 2: You know, you don't want to use a drill from
- 6:28Speaker 2: nineteen seventy four.
- 6:29Speaker 4: And that's funny because we also in our offices we
- 6:33Speaker 4: educate a lot of dental students. They come from WU
- 6:35Speaker 4: School of Dentistry, where rural faculty, and so they come
- 6:39Speaker 4: to us and learn, and we just had dental students
- 6:43Speaker 4: start yesterday. We've had some here. They come for six
- 6:46Speaker 4: week rotation and it's interesting the observations they make on
- 6:52Speaker 4: the equipment that we use coming.
- 6:54Speaker 3: From the dental school.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Now, it's not that the dental school is using equipment
- 6:59Speaker 4: that's fifty years old. In fact, it's quite advanced compared
- 7:03Speaker 4: to when I was training there. That they've made some
- 7:06Speaker 4: very significant advancements, but even things down to the hand
- 7:09Speaker 4: pieces that a dental school may not invest in the
- 7:15Speaker 4: top of the line hand pieces per se, which is
- 7:17Speaker 4: what we try to do in our offices.
- 7:20Speaker 3: And it's.
- 7:22Speaker 4: About the patient comfort being more efficient and the the
- 7:27Speaker 4: experience as well, because not only do the newer hand
- 7:31Speaker 4: pieces cut cut more efficiently, quicker better, but they also
- 7:37Speaker 4: sound less scary.
- 7:42Speaker 3: It's that hand piece noise. That's that whistling. Everybody's like, oh,
- 7:46Speaker 3: I hate the sound of that thing.
- 7:48Speaker 4: But it's fascinating how you turn on these electric can
- 7:51Speaker 4: pieces that we most of us use, How quiet those
- 7:55Speaker 4: are when you put it beside of the old air
- 7:57Speaker 4: driven because the air driven has a turbine in it
- 7:59Speaker 4: push air through it and it's gonna.
- 8:01Speaker 2: There's a very Pavlovian response to those old ones. Yeah,
- 8:04Speaker 2: just regardless of what it is, you'd hear it like no, no,
- 8:07Speaker 2: stay away from me.
- 8:08Speaker 4: So once in a while I have to use one
- 8:10Speaker 4: of those if the if I'm in a room that
- 8:11Speaker 4: may not have it, and I'm like, man, this thing
- 8:13Speaker 4: is loud, no wonder nobody likes the sound of that.
- 8:15Speaker 4: So small things like that make a big difference. It
- 8:18Speaker 4: helps helps the patient experience not only helps us work quicker,
- 8:23Speaker 4: but also decreases, hopefully the anxiety that patients may have
- 8:28Speaker 4: in relationship to the dental chair, so that in and
- 8:31Speaker 4: of itself, it's like it's like the workhorse in dentistry
- 8:34Speaker 4: using a hand piece, but down to that element the
- 8:37Speaker 4: patient might not think much about. But we try to
- 8:40Speaker 4: invest in having the best of those as well.
- 8:42Speaker 2: And a lot of that is you know, it's if
- 8:47Speaker 2: you gave a customer survey and had them right down
- 8:50Speaker 2: without multiple choice, like the top five things in a
- 8:52Speaker 2: dent wall, that they may not even come necessarily to.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Some of those things that you know is important because
- 8:57Speaker 2: you look at it from the other side of things
- 8:58Speaker 2: and knowing exactly what to patients to be want to
- 9:01Speaker 2: make them comfortable and make it easier for you and
- 9:04Speaker 2: your staff and everything else.
- 9:06Speaker 5: I am quite sure that the thing that patients are
- 9:09Speaker 5: going to say that they appreciate the most is our staff.
- 9:12Speaker 6: Oh, it's our smiling faces.
- 9:14Speaker 5: It's the way that they treat our patients to make
- 9:17Speaker 5: sure they're comfortable and make sure that they that their
- 9:19Speaker 5: every care is taken care of.
- 9:22Speaker 6: That's the most important part is our staff. I do believe.
- 9:25Speaker 5: However, you will notice if something if some type of equipment,
- 9:30Speaker 5: some chair, some wallpaper, some paint is chipping. You will
- 9:33Speaker 5: notice if something is off. And I hear that from
- 9:36Speaker 5: patients a lot. They say, oh, another practice I went to,
- 9:39Speaker 5: you know, somewhere else.
- 9:40Speaker 6: It doesn't matter where.
- 9:41Speaker 5: I just walked into the bathroom and the toilet paper
- 9:44Speaker 5: was all on the ground, and like so you notice
- 9:46Speaker 5: the things that are wrong as opposed to the things
- 9:48Speaker 5: that are so good.
- 9:49Speaker 6: So we invest in all this equipment.
- 9:51Speaker 5: It doesn't go unnoticed necessarily, but it's not as noticed
- 9:54Speaker 5: as if it were backwards, so to say. And so
- 9:58Speaker 5: keeping up to the highest levels doesn't have the biggest
- 10:02Speaker 5: bang for its buck when it comes to patients noticing. However,
- 10:06Speaker 5: it is very important. I believe to provide the best service.
- 10:09Speaker 5: So I think that's a good thing.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Point.
- 10:10Speaker 2: It's talking about different things, But I'm sure that there
- 10:13Speaker 2: might be some places that have kind of their sacred
- 10:15Speaker 2: cows when it comes to equipment that maybe has past
- 10:17Speaker 2: its expiration date. I'm not sure. There's probably not an
- 10:21Speaker 2: exact analog, but I could imagine maybe if you had
- 10:23Speaker 2: a hand tool that didn't work all that great. But
- 10:25Speaker 2: I went to get my hair cut at one point
- 10:27Speaker 2: in time to a place that I used to go
- 10:28Speaker 2: all the time, but they had revolving barbers that came
- 10:31Speaker 2: in and the barber that was cutting my hair was
- 10:33Speaker 2: talking about how much that He's like, these clippers have
- 10:35Speaker 2: been everywhere with me, and he was talking about his
- 10:37Speaker 2: favorite clippers or whatever. The problem with the clippers was
- 10:39Speaker 2: they had some sort of a catch in the engine
- 10:41Speaker 2: and every so often as he was shaving, they would
- 10:44Speaker 2: like catch and restart and would pull hair. So it
- 10:47Speaker 2: would be like click, pull your hair, clip, pull your hair,
- 10:49Speaker 2: and it would happen every once in a while and
- 10:50Speaker 2: it was uncomfortable. I'm like, this guy sitting here telling
- 10:54Speaker 2: me about his favorite clippers and they're ripping hair out
- 10:57Speaker 2: of my head as we're talking, and I'd be like
- 10:59Speaker 2: ouch out. I'm like it's pulling. He's like, oh, that's
- 11:02Speaker 2: just because you're my favorite clippers. I'm like, i'm your
- 11:05Speaker 2: He's like completely oblivious to the fact that he's making
- 11:07Speaker 2: me really uncomfortable pulling hair out of my head.
- 11:09Speaker 5: You've imagine seeing doctor Stephen he going, well, this is
- 11:11Speaker 5: old rusty, this is my favorite hand piece.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Exactly what I was, Well, here.
- 11:19Speaker 6: Eventually you know, like, what are we doing here?
- 11:22Speaker 2: I mean, I know hair and teeth are completely different things,
- 11:24Speaker 2: but I'm thinking you have to have a level of
- 11:27Speaker 2: respect to your profession not to pull the hair out
- 11:29Speaker 2: of my head as you're trying to actually cut it.
- 11:31Speaker 2: And although, like I said, I'm sure there's no dentists
- 11:34Speaker 2: out there that have like that, that have a drill
- 11:36Speaker 2: that's not actually working on it, but there's some analog
- 11:38Speaker 2: out there where you could probably have an upgrade to
- 11:41Speaker 2: the equipment that's going to make it more comfortable for
- 11:43Speaker 2: your patients, despite the fact that you've had that thing
- 11:46Speaker 2: since whenever and whoever got it for you or whatever
- 11:48Speaker 2: it might be.
- 11:48Speaker 6: So I have a quick story about that.
- 11:51Speaker 5: Not so it wasn't one of those situations where it
- 11:54Speaker 5: was so bad it was like pulling hair, pull you
- 11:56Speaker 5: not working on teeth. But the the office that I
- 11:59Speaker 5: inherit we have a lot of older equipment and still
- 12:03Speaker 5: we do, and we're working through it and we've upgraded
- 12:05Speaker 5: a lot. But one of the things that we had
- 12:07Speaker 5: were these hand pieces that were air driven that Dot
- 12:11Speaker 5: Stephen kind of mentioned, and they were all one piece
- 12:14Speaker 5: and they were made in a certain country that is
- 12:17Speaker 5: known for lower quality.
- 12:18Speaker 6: I won't say anything else.
- 12:20Speaker 5: And so they were all one piece and instead of
- 12:23Speaker 5: I tried to get some of these fix because they
- 12:25Speaker 5: would stop working and I would send them to a
- 12:26Speaker 5: repair shop and they said, oh, no, these are all
- 12:29Speaker 5: one unit.
- 12:29Speaker 6: You cannot remove them.
- 12:30Speaker 5: You just have to throw them away. And I'm like, oh, so, like,
- 12:33Speaker 5: where do I buy new ones? And they sent me
- 12:35Speaker 5: the website and they were like twenty or fifty bucks
- 12:38Speaker 5: or something, which for dentists out there, knowing a twenty
- 12:41Speaker 5: dollars handpiece.
- 12:43Speaker 6: It's not a very good one.
- 12:44Speaker 5: And so the ones that I replaced them with are
- 12:46Speaker 5: probably five hundred and two.
- 12:48Speaker 6: One thousand dollars.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Wow, those are one of the cheapest ones, right, and
- 12:52Speaker 5: so the great price. So it's just so funny how
- 12:55Speaker 5: I didn't even know that they made these hand pieces
- 12:58Speaker 5: that you just throw away when they stopped working.
- 13:00Speaker 6: But it's a thing I don't know.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Wow, yeah, and that might not be the best place
- 13:05Speaker 2: to go for your dental needs, I don't know. Quickly, Oh,
- 13:10Speaker 2: you know, we just go to the drug store and
- 13:13Speaker 2: all of our stuff. We don't get any special equipment.
- 13:16Speaker 2: If you have any questions about your dental hygiene this
- 13:18Speaker 2: morning and give us a call. Lots of topics that
- 13:20Speaker 2: we're touching on this morning. Maybe you have a problem
- 13:22Speaker 2: that you want to see how how the doctors would
- 13:24Speaker 2: address or anything along those lines. You're welcome gives a
- 13:26Speaker 2: call this morning. Threes are a four three four five
- 13:28Speaker 2: fifty eight fifty eight. Threes are four three four five
- 13:30Speaker 2: fifty to fifty eight. Another note that you have on
- 13:32Speaker 2: the information that you sent to me is just simply
- 13:35Speaker 2: lasers that cut teeth. A guy that mostly grew up
- 13:38Speaker 2: in the eighties, I love talking about lasers. So is
- 13:42Speaker 2: this like, literally, what are we talking about when it
- 13:44Speaker 2: comes to lasers on your teeth.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really remarkable that something that in dentistry has
- 13:49Speaker 4: been around for longer than people realize.
- 13:51Speaker 3: In fact, I have a laser that.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Shoot, we've first started using lasers i'd say about fifteen
- 13:58Speaker 4: years ago or so, and then you upgrade different models.
- 14:02Speaker 4: It's like new cars, you know, you have to upgrade
- 14:05Speaker 4: to stay to keep up with things. And so we
- 14:07Speaker 4: have one of the latest versions of that, and it
- 14:10Speaker 4: is there are lasers in dentistry that can cut what
- 14:13Speaker 4: we call soft tissue, gum tissue, fum frenoms on tongue
- 14:17Speaker 4: like a tongue ti type of thing. They can cut
- 14:20Speaker 4: the soft tissue. Then there are lasers that do soft
- 14:23Speaker 4: tissue and hard tissue meaning bone and teeth, teeth and bone.
- 14:27Speaker 4: And the laser that we that I have in my
- 14:30Speaker 4: office and we have in multiple offices has that capability,
- 14:34Speaker 4: which it's not like an Austin power laser to the
- 14:38Speaker 4: moon type of thing, you know that that obliterates things,
- 14:41Speaker 4: but it is very precise and controlled that takes away
- 14:45Speaker 4: just a small amount of tissue whether it be soft
- 14:48Speaker 4: tissue or hard tissue at a time using laser energy
- 14:52Speaker 4: combined with water and they create little micro explosions on
- 14:56Speaker 4: the surface of the tooth they call it, and it
- 14:58Speaker 4: slowly removes the tissue as you can see it. And
- 15:02Speaker 4: many times that type of laser energy when working on
- 15:06Speaker 4: a tooth allows us to do fillings without numbing the patient,
- 15:10Speaker 4: which is pretty cool too. So the laser it feels
- 15:14Speaker 4: a little bit cold on your tooth, but it's it's
- 15:17Speaker 4: generally not too uncomfortable for a patient to have a
- 15:20Speaker 4: filling done and at the same time, and then we
- 15:24Speaker 4: can also use that same laser if we need to
- 15:26Speaker 4: recontour gum tissue to make a tooth look longer, or
- 15:31Speaker 4: around a restoration, a crown, or a filling that the
- 15:34Speaker 4: gums are kind of infringing upon. We can use our
- 15:37Speaker 4: laser to vary a traumatically take that away without much
- 15:42Speaker 4: damage to the tissue.
- 15:43Speaker 3: So it's pretty cool stuff.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Again, you're talking about technology and how technology is come along.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I mean, that's again allowing you to do granular work
- 15:50Speaker 2: or another tool in the toolbox for maybe a certain situation.
- 15:53Speaker 2: But that's again an expansion of the tools and the
- 15:56Speaker 2: things that are available.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and it's fantastic for kids, you know, because
- 16:00Speaker 4: when kids come in, they have very small fillings that
- 16:03Speaker 4: need done. But you don't want to have to numb
- 16:05Speaker 4: them for it and have them make them have a
- 16:07Speaker 4: bad experience. You just use this laser. It makes a
- 16:09Speaker 4: different noise. It doesn't make that hand piece high pitched noise.
- 16:11Speaker 4: It's kind of a sounds like a popcorn popper. So yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 4: this kind of pops a little bit, and and the
- 16:17Speaker 4: kids love it because it's just given their tooth a
- 16:19Speaker 4: little shower and we're done with the with the preparation,
- 16:23Speaker 4: we call it, and then we can put the little
- 16:24Speaker 4: filling in there and without having a number.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I want to take a break here in just a moment.
- 16:28Speaker 2: When we come back, we're going to talk a little
- 16:29Speaker 2: bit about the newer composite technology, also digital designs and
- 16:34Speaker 2: smile fabrications, which we talk about that a lot on
- 16:37Speaker 2: this program. Before we go to the break, though, I'll
- 16:40Speaker 2: surface a personal question about my daughter, so about her
- 16:44Speaker 2: dental hygiene. She's a good tooth pressure, so we finally
- 16:48Speaker 2: got past all of that stuff, so she does find
- 16:50Speaker 2: brush on her teeth and everything. Now, the problem that
- 16:52Speaker 2: we're running into now is she seems to have and
- 16:54Speaker 2: whether it's a chosen thing or if it's or if
- 16:57Speaker 2: it's like a like a physical response that we're not sure,
- 17:00Speaker 2: but she seems to have very adverse reaction to strong toothpastes.
- 17:03Speaker 2: So like the kid's toothpaste, she can use with no
- 17:05Speaker 2: problem at all. But the thing that we're noticing, although
- 17:07Speaker 2: it has fluoride in it and everything, I don't think
- 17:09Speaker 2: it's really doing the job because although she's brushing her
- 17:11Speaker 2: teeth a lot, we're starting to notice some like discoloring
- 17:13Speaker 2: and things along those lines. And I'm worried that the
- 17:16Speaker 2: toothpaste is just not up to snuff on what she
- 17:18Speaker 2: needs to use. I don't know if that could be
- 17:20Speaker 2: a proper diagnosis or not, but I'm just wondering, is
- 17:24Speaker 2: there's such a thing as like tasteless toothpaste for kids
- 17:28Speaker 2: or something that's very, very mild that you can find
- 17:30Speaker 2: because just browsing at the at the drug store, they're
- 17:34Speaker 2: all like highly flavored. They're all like, you know, they're
- 17:36Speaker 2: all like strawberry, and she doesn't mind that it's the
- 17:39Speaker 2: fluoride and the mint on top of like the strawberry
- 17:41Speaker 2: or whatever. She just can't stand the taste.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean meant is that is something a lot
- 17:45Speaker 4: of kids have kind of an adverse reaction to, and
- 17:47Speaker 4: it's the most common thing that they put into toothpaste unfortunately.
- 17:51Speaker 4: But you know, there are unflavored ones that are fluoridated
- 17:55Speaker 4: that you really can't can't taste anything with them. But
- 17:59Speaker 4: for specific things like that, you have to look online. Okay,
- 18:02Speaker 4: so let's dig into that. Uh, just search for a
- 18:05Speaker 4: FloriDada toothpaste without flavor and it could become could be
- 18:10Speaker 4: from one of the larger brands, but there could be
- 18:14Speaker 4: some smaller brands too that do it, but they change
- 18:16Speaker 4: them so much too, it's hard to keep anything like
- 18:18Speaker 4: that in stock. I can see that from a kind
- 18:21Speaker 4: of a drug store.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Yeah sure.
- 18:22Speaker 2: But just generally speaking, if I find something floor data
- 18:24Speaker 2: that that maybe doesn't have any taste, that it should
- 18:27Speaker 2: be okay for the.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Most But then there are some that are if if
- 18:30Speaker 4: it's a ment, sometimes there's like a vanillament that's that
- 18:33Speaker 4: kids seem to like a little bit better. But then really,
- 18:35Speaker 4: if you're looking for kids, if you search for kids toothpaste,
- 18:38Speaker 4: there's a lot of the fruity flavors that do have
- 18:40Speaker 4: some floor items that kids seem to like better.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I'll see what we can find. That's just been it's
- 18:44Speaker 2: been a little bit of a frustration because she she
- 18:46Speaker 2: has some sensory issues with things like that, so it
- 18:48Speaker 2: took us a while to get her to the toothbrushing.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Now that's fine, that's not an issue. It's just I
- 18:53Speaker 2: don't think it's doing the job. It doesn't seem to
- 18:55Speaker 2: be working.
- 18:55Speaker 4: It's like, my daughter should some of those toothbrushes toothpaste,
- 18:58Speaker 4: like oh, that's spicy, Like well it's mintyp understand.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah, right, that's exactly her. She doesn't like that. The
- 19:03Speaker 2: last question with that, she she really likes the the
- 19:05Speaker 2: mechanical toothbrushes with the spinny heads and stuff on it,
- 19:08Speaker 2: but they're really tiny compared to like a regular sauzed
- 19:11Speaker 2: toothbrush that would be a little bigger head. Does that
- 19:13Speaker 2: really matter as long as she's getting a good.
- 19:14Speaker 4: Covered I mean, the smaller ones are better for kids.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Many times that's boy to make them that size to
- 19:18Speaker 4: get around those smaller teeth. But I'm like, whatever makes
- 19:22Speaker 4: whatever gets the kid to do frush, you know, So
- 19:26Speaker 4: you can use a smaller one. But if you if
- 19:28Speaker 4: you look on at the drug store, there are larger
- 19:32Speaker 4: ones that are inexpensive. There's battery powered, even an adult
- 19:36Speaker 4: version that that aren't just that smaller circle that kind
- 19:41Speaker 4: of go up and down and rotate.
- 19:43Speaker 3: So yeah, look look around. You'll find some that are
- 19:45Speaker 3: biggert We.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Can find there just a little bit of a frustration reascently,
- 19:49Speaker 2: so I thought it we'd talk about it on an
- 19:50Speaker 2: air just a little bit. If if you have any
- 19:52Speaker 2: questions along those lines about a loved one of yours

- 22:08Speaker 2: Stephen made me aware of when we were getting ready
- 22:10Speaker 2: for the show today is you have a speaking engagement tomorrow.
- 22:13Speaker 3: A bit of that. I'm what I'm doing.
- 22:15Speaker 4: I'm putting on a bit of a cosmetic and implant
- 22:19Speaker 4: dental seminar, I guess is the best way to call it?
- 22:22Speaker 4: Downtown tomorrow from twelve to one for anyone that's nearby
- 22:27Speaker 4: and on lunch you want to stop in and talk
- 22:29Speaker 4: about dentistry, learn more about what options there are here
- 22:32Speaker 4: locally that we can provide at our offices. But that's
- 22:36Speaker 4: going to be at the West Virginia State University Center
- 22:42Speaker 4: on Capitol Street and the address is one oh seven
- 22:44Speaker 4: Capitol Street, so it's downtown hopefully convenient for those on
- 22:48Speaker 4: their lunch break to pop in. We'll have some light
- 22:50Speaker 4: refreshments and talk teeth, so see see if we can
- 22:54Speaker 4: answer some questions there too.
- 22:56Speaker 2: It's really amazing to me on types of outreach like that.
- 23:00Speaker 2: My wife and I years ago when we we had
- 23:04Speaker 2: battled fertility forever and and we had decided it looks
- 23:08Speaker 2: like we're not gonna be able to have a kid
- 23:09Speaker 2: because we've tried all these different things, and there was
- 23:13Speaker 2: just a random not random, but we had there was
- 23:16Speaker 2: an IVF doctor in town who had a seminar that
- 23:18Speaker 2: that we basically just wandered into, like it wasn't something
- 23:21Speaker 2: that we had circled on the honors, like, hey, this
- 23:22Speaker 2: is going on over there, let's see what this is
- 23:24Speaker 2: like the day of and that's how we ended up
- 23:25Speaker 2: getting our kid. I mean, you you just never know,
- 23:28Speaker 2: like with these continuing educations with seminars things like that
- 23:31Speaker 2: that pop up, you never know what you're going to
- 23:33Speaker 2: find out. So if you've had a problem, this might
- 23:35Speaker 2: help great.
- 23:35Speaker 4: And this is what I'm seeing coming into the office.
- 23:38Speaker 4: A lot of now are patients that are really honestly confused,
- 23:43Speaker 4: but they're very interested in more details on the larger
- 23:47Speaker 4: comprehensive cosmetic cases and implant cases that you're starting to
- 23:52Speaker 4: see advertised. We talk about the on the air many times.
- 23:55Speaker 4: So I just wanted to have an in person thing
- 23:57Speaker 4: that people can come informally and ask some questions and
- 24:00Speaker 4: hopefully you can get some answers.
- 24:01Speaker 2: For that's a that's a great idea, and I always
- 24:04Speaker 2: think it's a great idea just because you guys still
- 24:06Speaker 2: battle kind of against the UH the misconception of dentistry.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I think in a lot of times, you know, you
- 24:10Speaker 2: have decades of of those drill pieces that we were
- 24:13Speaker 2: talking about, you know that that kind of floods the
- 24:16Speaker 2: zone with at this point, what's misinformation, you know. So
- 24:18Speaker 2: it's always nice to have h a forum where you
- 24:20Speaker 2: can talk to folks and let folks know what's available
- 24:22Speaker 2: out there in the different things you can do for sure.
- 24:24Speaker 2: So that's going to be at you say, noon at
- 24:26Speaker 2: noon y noon tomorrow one of seven Capitals Streach.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Time, Uh yeah, one of the seven capital it's a
- 24:31Speaker 4: it's a beautiful facility West Virginia State that we love.
- 24:34Speaker 4: We've you know, we've many of us have attended there.
- 24:37Speaker 4: So we're happy to support that endeavor as well. So
- 24:39Speaker 4: they have a great kind of an entertainment space that
- 24:42Speaker 4: that we can go and set up and entertain people.
- 24:45Speaker 2: So Larry Post here here in the building one of
- 24:47Speaker 2: the UH well, the the UH president of Sales for
- 24:50Speaker 2: for Metro News here. He has a toothbrush he has
- 24:54Speaker 2: keeps here at ork and brushes his teeth every day
- 24:55Speaker 2: after lunch. Oh that's great, right right. You don't hear
- 24:58Speaker 2: about that a lot. I don't do that. I don't
- 25:00Speaker 2: do that. I don't And that's the only person that
- 25:01Speaker 2: I know of that does it. I bet you guys
- 25:03Speaker 2: do it. Maybe we've got yeah, yeah, yeah, So that
- 25:06Speaker 2: I always have respected that. That dental hygiene. That's that's
- 25:09Speaker 2: a good amount of dental hygiene to have at work.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I sometimes will brush my teeth at lunch when I'm
- 25:14Speaker 2: at home because I go home a lot, and I'll
- 25:16Speaker 2: brush my teeth before I leave. But honestly, I forget
- 25:18Speaker 2: a lot of times.
- 25:19Speaker 4: You reminds me I need to bring some toothbrushes for
- 25:20Speaker 4: the lunch time. Say hey, you keep this in your
- 25:23Speaker 4: drawer at work.
- 25:24Speaker 2: That's a good idea. You should. We should definitely, we
- 25:26Speaker 2: should definitely do that. A couple of minutes left in
- 25:28Speaker 2: the program this morning, About ten minutes left. If you
- 25:30Speaker 2: want to give us a call your morn. Welcome to
- 25:31Speaker 2: three zer A four three four five fifty eight fifty
- 25:33Speaker 2: eight threes are a four three four five fifty fifteen
- 25:35Speaker 2: and the notes that you sent me over this morning,
- 25:37Speaker 2: you wanted to talk about newer composite technology.
- 25:39Speaker 6: Yo, what is that?
- 25:41Speaker 2: Yeah, so doctor Henley, please your turn.
- 25:46Speaker 5: So we are trying to always do bigger, better, newer things.
- 25:51Speaker 5: But bigger, better, newer is not always better, right, I mean,
- 25:54Speaker 5: even though I just said better. But when it comes
- 25:57Speaker 5: to composite, the white filling material, what's so cool now
- 26:00Speaker 5: is that we have stuff that's strong and also good looking.
- 26:04Speaker 5: In the past, we always had a trade off. Normally,
- 26:07Speaker 5: there was if you needed something that was strong, you'd
- 26:10Speaker 5: use a type of white composite filling or even the
- 26:13Speaker 5: silver malgams that were strong, but they weren't very attractive.
- 26:17Speaker 5: Some of those composite fillings would kind of have a
- 26:19Speaker 5: sheen to them. You can't really use them on the
- 26:22Speaker 5: front when it comes to the smiling area. And then
- 26:25Speaker 5: of course you had those very attractive filling materials, those
- 26:29Speaker 5: white composits that looked really good, but then if you
- 26:32Speaker 5: bit down on them, they'd break, right, So you had
- 26:34Speaker 5: like this weird trade off. But it's really cool now
- 26:36Speaker 5: we have this technology that we can actually do veneers
- 26:41Speaker 5: that we place on top of the teeth that act
- 26:44Speaker 5: like the lab made veneers. We can actually do fillings
- 26:48Speaker 5: to replace for cavities in the front of teeth that
- 26:53Speaker 5: look fantastic. You can't even tell that we did a filling.
- 26:55Speaker 5: And they also won't chip off and break, and they'll
- 26:58Speaker 5: actually flex with the tooth and all this stuff. And
- 27:00Speaker 5: so it's really neat about this newer technology is that
- 27:03Speaker 5: we can produce something that's really beautiful and very strong.
- 27:08Speaker 5: And what's really cool about some of these stronger things,
- 27:10Speaker 5: or something called bulk flow, don't I use maybe every
- 27:13Speaker 5: once in a while, but there's a limit to how
- 27:16Speaker 5: deep the blue light penetrates our filling material. Whenever we're
- 27:21Speaker 5: trying to harden that composite, it's about one to two millimeters. Well,
- 27:25Speaker 5: this bulk fill takes a you can actually do up
- 27:28Speaker 5: to four millimeters. Now that doesn't sound like a lot,
- 27:30Speaker 5: but in dentistry terms, that's like four miles. And so
- 27:34Speaker 5: imagine just prepping a tooth and then filling it up
- 27:36Speaker 5: with one full swoop and then light crying and you're done.
- 27:40Speaker 5: Maybe some polishing, but you're done. And so it speeds
- 27:42Speaker 5: up the process. It makes the patient in the chair
- 27:44Speaker 5: less time, which makes them happier. And so there's all
- 27:47Speaker 5: this two new technology that we're always trying to investigate
- 27:50Speaker 5: and see if it's good for us. There is still
- 27:54Speaker 5: some technology I use that came out in the two
- 27:55Speaker 5: thousands because I believe it's the best, right that are
- 27:58Speaker 5: flowable are it's the best. I don't know, it's just
- 28:02Speaker 5: you and me, we are the ones that use it,
- 28:04Speaker 5: but I still think it's the best. But we're always
- 28:06Speaker 5: trying to vest in this and see what's new out
- 28:10Speaker 5: there that can provide the best care for our patients.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Now that's outstanding, And of course I'm always amazed when
- 28:17Speaker 2: when you guys relate, you know the mission and the
- 28:21Speaker 2: and what you're aiming for. It's always customer first. It's
- 28:23Speaker 2: or patient or client first. It's always it's always the
- 28:26Speaker 2: patient first that's coming in through the door, to make
- 28:28Speaker 2: sure that they're having not only a good outcome, but
- 28:33Speaker 2: also as much as possible, a cafeteria of choices ahead
- 28:36Speaker 2: of them. I mean, there might not always be choices
- 28:38Speaker 2: and what you can do, but you guys do the
- 28:39Speaker 2: best you can and giving folks the route that they're
- 28:42Speaker 2: comfortable with taking, using equipment that's comfortable to use putting
- 28:45Speaker 2: them in the best situation they can possibly be for
- 28:47Speaker 2: something they need to have done.
- 28:48Speaker 5: I had a patient yet last week come in with
- 28:50Speaker 5: a tooth that's broken down to the gum line in
- 28:52Speaker 5: the front, and I gave them only a couple of options.
- 28:56Speaker 5: We could remove the tooth or we could build it up.
- 28:58Speaker 5: But I kind of said, because there's not much tooth remaining,
- 29:01Speaker 5: I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm not a miracle worker,
- 29:05Speaker 5: and so I am very advanced. I try, I'm very
- 29:09Speaker 5: knowledgeable about this, but I'm gonna be honest that I
- 29:12Speaker 5: might not be able to provide something that's me long
- 29:14Speaker 5: term and it's gonna cost some money. So there's that
- 29:17Speaker 5: balancing act of making sure that the patient understands the
- 29:20Speaker 5: realistic expectations that we can have for solving these problems.
- 29:24Speaker 5: And so that's how our knowledge and are mainly our experience,
- 29:27Speaker 5: especially to doctor Stevens over twenty years of experience, really
- 29:30Speaker 5: helps because when a patient asks, well have you done
- 29:33Speaker 5: this before, we're like hundreds, if not thousands, I think
- 29:37Speaker 5: we got this right, and so we have that ability
- 29:39Speaker 5: to lean back on not just our mistakes.
- 29:43Speaker 6: I mean, I'll say I've made mistakes. Seams never made
- 29:45Speaker 6: a mistake.
- 29:46Speaker 5: But if you don't learn from your mistakes, if you
- 29:47Speaker 5: don't learn from those things that you did as a
- 29:49Speaker 5: younger dentist, as a as a lesser experienced individual, you're
- 29:53Speaker 5: not going to learn from them. You're not going to
- 29:54Speaker 5: become better. And so that's just one of those things
- 29:56Speaker 5: that we pride ourselves on. We're not too proud to
- 29:59Speaker 5: say I need to get better at all times, even
- 30:02Speaker 5: though we're pretty good.
- 30:03Speaker 2: We're pretty good. And we've talked about some of the
- 30:06Speaker 2: some of the advanced techniques and different equipments and things
- 30:08Speaker 2: that you have as far as staying up to date
- 30:11Speaker 2: on the the most cutting edge recommendations. How often are
- 30:17Speaker 2: is someone expected to see a dentist per year? Is
- 30:18Speaker 2: it still with everything normal? Is it twice a year? Like?
- 30:21Speaker 2: What's normal with that?
- 30:22Speaker 5: Do you want to get in the weeds a little bit? No,
- 30:26Speaker 5: he does not want me to get in the weeds.
- 30:28Speaker 5: But we say every six months. That is the go to.
- 30:32Speaker 5: That is the blanket statement we say. And now there's
- 30:35Speaker 5: so much nuance to that. How far No, he's saying,
- 30:42Speaker 5: just don't do it. Okay, I'm going to go just
- 30:43Speaker 5: a little bit, okay, And so there's something where if
- 30:46Speaker 5: you are so low cavity risk, if you if you've
- 30:49Speaker 5: not had a cavity in five years, if you see
- 30:51Speaker 5: your if you've seen your dentists every six months for
- 30:53Speaker 5: years and years, you've never had a cavity. You have
- 30:56Speaker 5: perfect health, you have perfect gum tissue. You can have
- 30:59Speaker 5: that conversation with your with your doctor and say, could
- 31:02Speaker 5: I maybe come once a month or come not once
- 31:04Speaker 5: a month, come once a year maybe, right, Like, there's
- 31:09Speaker 5: that discussion I can have with a patient that might
- 31:11Speaker 5: want to do that. However, there's a reason why we
- 31:14Speaker 5: recommend every six months because there are fractures that happen
- 31:18Speaker 5: within a month. There are there are cavities that can
- 31:21Speaker 5: just spur up so quickly that within a few months
- 31:24Speaker 5: you have a cavity that kind of blew up that
- 31:25Speaker 5: we didn't have six months ago. And so that's why
- 31:28Speaker 5: we take X rays ever so often. That's why we
- 31:30Speaker 5: take those zoomed out X rays called panoramics. And so
- 31:32Speaker 5: even though there is that leeway, I know I said it,
- 31:37Speaker 5: but we still say every six months is the wisest,
- 31:40Speaker 5: most prudent method for your for every patient and then on.
- 31:44Speaker 4: The flip side of that, if you have an increased
- 31:48Speaker 4: risk of certain conditions, especially with your gum health, we
- 31:52Speaker 4: may recommend to come in every four months rather than
- 31:55Speaker 4: six months or three months. So it can go either
- 31:57Speaker 4: way conversation to have with your dentists, but the standard
- 32:00Speaker 4: is twice a year, go see your your dentist and
- 32:03Speaker 4: make sure everything's up to snuff.
- 32:05Speaker 2: And then as far as the grailar data on day
- 32:07Speaker 2: to day goes toothbrushing twice a day at least, right,
- 32:11Speaker 2: is it three minutes?
- 32:12Speaker 3: Brush twice for two minutes, two.
- 32:14Speaker 6: Minutes, two minutes, okay, give you two minutes, okay, two minutes.
- 32:16Speaker 4: And so four minutes out of your day, let's brush
- 32:18Speaker 4: your teeth and then flush.
- 32:20Speaker 6: That's right.
- 32:21Speaker 2: So, so my daughter the way that she's hacked this
- 32:24Speaker 2: is she got some she's she's received some toothbrushes over
- 32:28Speaker 2: time that have like the lighted timers on them. Yes,
- 32:30Speaker 2: but she doesn't like the heads on those toothbrushes. So
- 32:32Speaker 2: what she does is she uses a motorized toothbrush that
- 32:35Speaker 2: she likes the head on, and then she'll use the
- 32:37Speaker 2: other tooth brush the timer on them. So she'll put
- 32:39Speaker 2: the timer up and like hang it on the thing
- 32:40Speaker 2: next to the sink, and then she'll use that to
- 32:42Speaker 2: see when she's done, brush your teeth, whatever it takes,
- 32:44Speaker 2: and she does a great job. She makes sure that
- 32:46Speaker 2: I adhere to that too. If I try to if
- 32:48Speaker 2: I try to be done too early, she's like, no,
- 32:49Speaker 2: Daddy gotta do it always through Mark.
- 32:51Speaker 6: Kid must take after her mom. Exactly. True.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's one hundred percent. There's one hundred percent
- 32:57Speaker 2: truth in that. Oh, we have time, we have sure
- 33:03Speaker 2: we can talk about your mom.
- 33:03Speaker 6: Hi, Mom, how you doing? I think she's listening right now.
- 33:06Speaker 5: So my parents are in town and my mom recently
- 33:11Speaker 5: fell off her bike. I know, she was just riding
- 33:15Speaker 5: down the road there in Texas where they live, fell off,
- 33:18Speaker 5: and she called me not an hour or two after, saying, Carson,
- 33:22Speaker 5: I just fell I'm fine, but like I need some help.
- 33:25Speaker 6: I don't really know how to you know.
- 33:27Speaker 5: Where to go because she hit her face and she's
- 33:31Speaker 5: still a little bruised there, but she's still beautiful. She
- 33:33Speaker 5: looks amazing. But she ended up calling me and kind
- 33:36Speaker 5: of saying like I need some help and how to
- 33:40Speaker 5: kind of what's my journey to take care of this problem.
- 33:44Speaker 6: And that's a.
- 33:44Speaker 5: Good question, especially if your son is a dentist, because
- 33:48Speaker 5: I can help you. But not every every not every person,
- 33:51Speaker 5: not every parent has a son or daughter who's a dentist,
- 33:54Speaker 5: or a friend or cousin. But the first thing I'll
- 33:57Speaker 5: say is use your own judgment when it comes to
- 33:59Speaker 5: where to go. If you are bleeding profusely, if you
- 34:01Speaker 5: are traumatized, go to the er. That's an obvious thing
- 34:04Speaker 5: called on on one. I think that's a blanket statement.
- 34:07Speaker 5: But not all traumas, not all injuries need to go
- 34:11Speaker 5: to the hospital at that time. Sometimes you need to
- 34:14Speaker 5: go see your PCP, especially if you think you broke something,
- 34:17Speaker 5: maybe an arm or a leg. But if you fall
- 34:19Speaker 5: and hit your face, say you have an elderly parent
- 34:22Speaker 5: that falls and hit their face, maybe the first thing
- 34:24Speaker 5: you do is take them to your dentist. If you
- 34:27Speaker 5: have an established home care dentist, you could take them
- 34:30Speaker 5: to the dentist and let them take a quick look
- 34:33Speaker 5: and see, Oh, you need to go see the oral
- 34:35Speaker 5: surgeon right now. Let me call you in because a
- 34:37Speaker 5: lot of times it's hard to get into oral surgeon.
- 34:39Speaker 5: But we know we have some back channels. We know
- 34:42Speaker 5: people to, especially if there's an emergency, to get people in.
- 34:45Speaker 5: But fortunately my mom didn't have a whole lot going
- 34:48Speaker 5: on except for a fractured face, and so she's on
- 34:50Speaker 5: a soft diet, and fortunately I have a CBCT in
- 34:53Speaker 5: my office, and so yesterday we did a three D
- 34:57Speaker 5: X ray and I did confirm with her, Yes, you
- 34:59Speaker 5: do have a frack sure in your bone. I do
- 35:01Speaker 5: recommend whatever your e n T told you to to
- 35:04Speaker 5: to keep doing. But that's just such an interesting thing
- 35:08Speaker 5: because there's an overlap.
- 35:09Speaker 6: Of who to see there.
- 35:11Speaker 5: There's the e n T that your nose throat, there's
- 35:13Speaker 5: an oral maxillofacial surgeon or the oral surgeons is what
- 35:17Speaker 5: we colloquial call them. And then there's plastics even when
- 35:20Speaker 5: it comes to facial wounds. And so there's so much
- 35:23Speaker 5: overlap when it comes to who you need to take
- 35:26Speaker 5: care of. That's why us the dentist a lot of
- 35:29Speaker 5: times need to step in and help you walk you
- 35:31Speaker 5: through that. So thankfully my mom has a son who's
- 35:34Speaker 5: a dentist.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely true, and it's it's nice to be able
- 35:38Speaker 2: to help out our parents everyone. So that you bring
- 35:40Speaker 2: up a very good point that that depending on what
- 35:43Speaker 2: the trauma was. I mean, you know, you want to
- 35:47Speaker 2: make sure you don't have concussion, you know, different things
- 35:48Speaker 2: along those lines that the things obviously, but if you
- 35:50Speaker 2: have actual damage that was done to your mouth or
- 35:53Speaker 2: your teeth or something along those lines, it might end
- 35:55Speaker 2: up being your first stop. I mean, it might need
- 35:56Speaker 2: to be your first stop.
- 35:57Speaker 4: Right now, we see a lot of kid to come
- 36:00Speaker 4: in their parents bring them in to us after a jaunt.
- 36:04Speaker 3: On the trampoline.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Oh yes, right, So things such as that are very
- 36:09Speaker 4: applicable for your dentists. Take a look, take one of
- 36:11Speaker 4: the x rays, make sure there's no further fractures, and
- 36:14Speaker 4: if we can evaluate the teeth as well.
- 36:16Speaker 2: And I gotta tell you, as a fifty one year
- 36:18Speaker 2: old parent of an eight year old and all of
- 36:20Speaker 2: the uh, the trampoline things that I've seen over the years,
- 36:25Speaker 2: my kid has been curious about the trampoline. She has
- 36:28Speaker 2: a friend of us that has it. But I'm kind
- 36:30Speaker 2: of like, you know, I might have to make up
- 36:32Speaker 2: some kind of like trampoline shortage or you know, I
- 36:36Speaker 2: don't know, kid, I don't know, Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Well that's going to do it for us today. Thanks
