- 3:10SPEAKER_02: Praise God, praise God.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Lord Jesus.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: How to get through what you're going through.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: How to get through what you're going through.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: That's what I want to talk about today.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: In Psalms 142, 123 it says, I cried unto the Lord with my voice.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: With my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: I poured out my complaint.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Hear what David is saying.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: David was complaining to the Lord.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: I poured out my complaint before him.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: I showed before him my troubles.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: When my spirit was overwhelmed in me, then thou knowest my path.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: In the way wherein I walk have they privately laid a snare for me.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Galatians 6 and 9, let not let us not be weary and well doing in due season, you shall weep if you faint not.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: You know, uh there is some things that everybody uh listening to me is in common.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Hasn't common.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: We may not have the same education, we may not have the same income or live in the same neighborhood, not drive the same automobile.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: But there's one thing we all have in common.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Everybody's going through something.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Some of you might be going through a financial problem or family difficulties or a sickness or disappointment or some type of grief.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: And some are going through situations they cannot even explain.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: You can look at somebody and think everybody is everything, everything is alright.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: But you don't know what they're carrying.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: Some people are smiling on the outside while crying on the inside.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: Some people are shouting in church while struggling at home.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Some people are encouraging everybody else while they're needing encouragement themselves.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: The question is not whether trouble will ever come.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: The question is, how do you get through what you're going through?
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: That's the question.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: How do you get through what you're going through?
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: A man went to his pastor and said, Pastor, I'm having uh so many problems.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: I don't know what to do.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: The pastor said, Have you tried praying?
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: The man answered, Pastor, have it gotten that bad.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, prayer should not be the last thing we try.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: Prayer ought to be the first place we turn.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: Some people talk to everybody about their problems, except the one who gave them the strength to face them.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: They tell everybody what they're going through.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: But they haven't spent five minutes talking to God.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: But today I want to show you how to take your trouble to the Lord.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: David gave us a pattern in Psalm 142.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: And then uh Jehosaphat gives us another pattern in in 2 Chronicles, the 20th chapter.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: And together they teach us how to get through what we're going through.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: In Psalm 12 uh uh 142, David was in a cave.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: David uh Psalm 1 and 2 is identified as a prayer of David.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: When he was in that that that cave, David had been anointed to become king.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: But David was living as a fugitive.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: Saul was seeking his life.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: David had to leave his familiar surroundings.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: David had experienced fear, uncertainty, and loneliness.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: The man who had defeated Goliath now found himself hiding in a cave.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: Just think about that.
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: He had been anointed, but he was still afflicted.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Are you with me here this morning?
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: He had received a promise, but he was still experiencing problems.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: He had experienced victory, but he was still facing opposition.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: That let me know something.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Being anointed does not mean you will never be afflicted.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: People tell you, you know, when you come to God, everything will be alright.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: You have no more trouble.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: All you have to do is just have faith in God, and you know, everything, everything's just gonna be alright, and you're not gonna have any any problem.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: Everything is gonna be peaches and cream, ice cream and cake.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: Faith doesn't spare us from our pain.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: Some of our greatest tests of faith is when we get sick and when we are in pain.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: Don't listen to them people say you ain't gonna, you know, you come to God and just have faith, you're not gonna have any pain.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: No.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Pay something else from the pain.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: But it but but our greatest test of faith is when we are sick.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: When we're going through financial difficulties, when you're about to lose your house or your car, whatever.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: Are you with me here?
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: So that's a going through period.
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: So David teaches us something important.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: He did not allow the cave to silence his prayer.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, glory.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: He turned his troubles into a conversation with God.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: So I I want you to listen to me this morning.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: Don't cut me off when I say this, okay?
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: Because the popular teaching, and which I was guilty of it too, is that you never complain to God.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: Well, let me let me let me get before you cut me off, hold on, okay?
- 11:30SPEAKER_02: So point number one, I want to explain something to you.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: You can complain to God, but not about God.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: We see that in uh all through scriptures, some of the greatest leaders.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: David said in 142, verse number one, I cried unto the Lord with my voice.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: With my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication, and listen what David said.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: I poured out my complaint before him, I showed before him my troubles.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: Notice what David said.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: I poured out my complaint before him.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: Listen, you could talk to God about anything.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: You can complain to God, but not about him.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: David didn't pretend everything was wonderful, he didn't deny that he was hurting, he didn't hide his disappointment.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: He took his plank directly to God.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: There's a difference from complaining to God or complaining about God.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: Complaining to God means you bring your pain, Lord.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: I'm hurting, I don't understand it, but I'm hurting, I'm in pain, I don't understand where I lost my loved one, I don't understand where two of my brothers passed in the same year.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: I don't understand it.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: Bring your questions, bring your disappointments before him, bring it to him in prayer.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: Complaining about God is destructive sense, meaning allowing your first creation to turn into bitterness.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Now that's wrong.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: Contempt, accusations that God is unfaithful, that's wrong.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: The difference is not simply whether you ask hard questions.
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: David and other faithful people in the scripture ask God difficult questions.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: The difference is whether our pain drives us towards God or harden our hearts against him.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: And uh Psalm 62 and 8, trust in him at all times, you people.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: Pour out your heart before him.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: God is a refuge for us.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Remember Hannah?
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: Hannah in 1 Samuel 1 and 15.
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: And Hannah answered and said, No, my Lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirits.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: I have drunk neither wine nor drink, but have poured out my soul before you.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Hannah poured out her soul before God.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: She didn't have to pretend she was she wasn't hurting.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: She prayed honestly.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: So I say to everyone that's listening to me right now, when you are hurting, talk to God.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: Tell him about your hurts.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: When you're disappointment, talk to God.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: Now, this is private.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: This is not for everybody's ears.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: So there is a lament prayer.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: When you're a lament, you read Psalms, you see it all through scripture.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: Where they are lament before God.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: Now, this is in your private closet, it's not for a Sunday morning service.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: You're talking to God privately, to him and him alone.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: When you're disappointed, disappointed, talk to God.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: When you're confused, talk to God.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: When you don't understand something, talk to God.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Don't let your trouble turn you against God.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: Let your trouble drive you into his presence.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: He talking about see how that'd be cool.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: And the next, appeal to God for help.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: Now he didn't leave it there.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: He complained, but he didn't leave it there.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: Now he appeals to God.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: I cried for I cried unto you, O Lord.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: David did more than describe his problem.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: He appealed to God for help.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: He declared that the Lord was his refuge.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: A refuge is a place of protection and shelter.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: David was saying, in effect, Lord, I cannot handle this situation myself.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: I need you.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: So he appealed to God.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: Yes, he complained.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: He said he did.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: And he did.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: But he didn't leave it there.
- 17:04SPEAKER_02: Don't leave it there.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: Don't leave it there.
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: Now you can appeal for him for help.
- 17:11SPEAKER_02: God is my refuge and strength of every present help in trouble.
- 17:17SPEAKER_02: Notice that God is not merely a help after trouble, he's a present help in trouble.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: Let's go to Jehoshaphat.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: In 2 Chronicles 23 to 4.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: And Jehoshaphat feared and set himself to seek the Lord and proclaim a fast throughout Judah.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: And Judah gathered together to ask help of the Lord.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: Even of all the cities, Judah have come to seek the Lord.
- 17:50SPEAKER_02: Jehoshaphat didn't allow fear to have his final word.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: He saw God.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: He called the people to pray and fast.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: When trouble comes, don't panic.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: Pray.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: When you receive a bad report, what you gonna do?
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: Pray.
- 18:08SPEAKER_02: When you don't know which direction to take, pray.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: When your burdens become too heavy, appeal to God.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: Tell him about it.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: This is too much for me to handle.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: Lord, I need you.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: There's nothing wrong with seeking wise counsel or medical help or practical assistance.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: But don't neglect prayer while seeking those things.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: Before you give up, look up.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Oh hallelujah.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Jesus.
- 18:46SPEAKER_02: Oh hallelujah.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: Yes, he complained.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: They appealed to God.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: And then you know what else?
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: Remind God of what he have already said.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: In that sixth seventh verse of 2 Chronicles, 20th chapter, and said, O Lord, God of our fathers, art there not God in heaven, ruleth not over all the kings over the heathen, and in thy hand is there not power, nor might, so that none is about to withstand you?
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: Out thou, O God, who driveth out the inhabitants of the land before the people of Israel, and give it to the seed of Abraham, your friend forever?
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: Jehozephat begin reminding himself and the people of God's power and past faithfulness.
- 19:45SPEAKER_02: Then he appeals to what God had promised concerning the people.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: Verse number nine.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: For thy name is in this house, and cry unto thee in our affliction that thou wilt heal and help.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: When you're going through something, learn to pray God's word.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: Put him in remembrance.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: Not because they have forgotten, not because God has forgotten what he said, because you are standing in faith upon what he said.
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: God is not a man, either shall lie.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: Neither son of man he shall repair not said, he shall not do it.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: Have he not spoken, and shall he not make it good?
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: Hate Amaziah.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: Glory to God.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: But if he remembered, God had told him and brought him the word in prayer.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: And Genesis 32, 9, and Jacob said, Oh God of my father, and the God of my father Isaac, the Lord which said unto me, return into thy country and thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: Jacob was essentially saying, Lord, I'm here because you told me to return, and I'm dependent on your word.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: Glory be to God.
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: Jacob wrestled with the Lord.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: Amen.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: And putting God put his hip out of place.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: And David, I mean Joseph, Joseph wrestled with Take your time.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: Jacob wrestled with the Lord.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: Yes he did.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: One of the strongest bones in your body is your hip.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: And he took his hip out of place.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: And Jacob would walk with a lip.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: God will m touch you at the at your at your at your strongest scratch to remind you that I'm stronger than anything that you think you strong in.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: He had to remind himself he walked wherever where he went now, he walked with a limp.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: That limp was to remind him that God is in charge and not him.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: Because we try to do things in our own strength.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: We give it over to God.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: When we feel weak, remember Isaiah 40 and 29.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: He gives power to the faint and to them that have no mighty and creating strength.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: So when you need will wisdom, remember James 1 and 5.
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: If any of you like wisdom, let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberty and upbraid it not, and it shall be given him.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: So when you feel abandoned, remember Hebrews 13 and 5.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: For he said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: Don't just rehearse your problem.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: Rehearse the promise of God.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: Point 4.
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: Remind yourself of what God has already said.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: Psalm 77, verse 11.
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: I will remember the work of the Lord.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: Surely I will remember the wonders of old.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Sometimes your present trouble becomes so large that you forget your previous victory.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: You forgot the prayer God answered.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: You forgot the the doors God opened.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: You forgot the dangers He brought you through.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: You forgot the strength he gave you uh when you though you couldn't make it.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: When you was going through something, you you need to look back and re- and remember God's faithfulness.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: So let me know.
- 24:19SPEAKER_02: Express total trust in the Lord even when you don't know what to do.
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: So yes, yes, you you come, you can bring a complaint to the Lord.
- 24:35SPEAKER_02: Talk to him about it.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: Yes, right.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: Talk to him.
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: Appeal to him.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: Then appeal, don't leave it there at the complaint.
- 24:47SPEAKER_02: Appeal to God.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: And remind God of what he's already said.
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: Remind yourself of what God has already done.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: Are you listening?
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: And you express in your prayer total trust in God, even when you don't know what to do.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: God bless you this morning.

- 25:28SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Jesus.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: God bless you.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: Have a smile upon you today.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Lord.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: Talk to the Lord about it.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: Don't worry about it.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: Amen.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: Be honest with him.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: He'll be honest with you.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: You might start out with a complaint.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: You complain to it, but not about God.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: And just tell him all about it.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: And then appeal to him.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: And then remind him of what he said in his word.
- 26:02SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: And remind yourself what he's done for you in the past.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: Can I get a witness out there?
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: Praise the Lord.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: God bless you this morning.
