- 0:02Speaker 1: Life Audio Willie and Corey with Eckle Entertainment. This is
- 0:07Speaker 1: the first of it's kind trusted home for faith and
- 0:09Speaker 1: family streaming. What convinced you guys that you wanted to
- 0:12Speaker 1: get involved in this endeavor.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Well, it just kind of felt like a natural extension
- 0:17Speaker 2: of what we've done in entertainment. I feel like God
- 0:20Speaker 2: kind of places us in this place for entertainment, and
- 0:23Speaker 2: we saw how it's shaping our culture and moving people,
- 0:26Speaker 2: and so we've been in it ever since, you know,
- 0:28Speaker 2: through our television show, then podcasting, then even musicals and
- 0:34Speaker 2: a film about our family, and we actually just had
- 0:37Speaker 2: another feel about our family for Lifetime, about ours the story.
- 0:40Speaker 2: So yeah, it just felt like the next step. Streaming
- 0:44Speaker 2: platforms are where it's at now. That's where everybody's consuming entertainment,
- 0:47Speaker 2: and there's a lot of them out there, and there's
- 0:49Speaker 2: a lot of choices and it can be really overwhelming
- 0:52Speaker 2: as a family to figure out where you might want
- 0:55Speaker 2: to allow your kids to kind of watch and consume content,
- 0:59Speaker 2: and so we wanted to offer that trusted, kind of
- 1:02Speaker 2: safe space for people who have had faith and family values.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Willi and Corey for both, how did raising children impact
- 1:09Speaker 1: your view of the needs for more faith and family entertainment.
- 1:12Speaker 1: You guys have six children, you know, have grandchildren. How
- 1:15Speaker 1: did all that impact your view of this?
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that was a big part of it. Well,
- 1:21Speaker 3: how you know, most of what Court and I learned
- 1:23Speaker 3: is actually from ourselves, you know, having our kids and
- 1:26Speaker 3: what they watch on the TV. Obviously it's changed so
- 1:30Speaker 3: much when when they were even teenagers. You know, it's different,
- 1:33Speaker 3: you know, how we consume things. Now everything has changed,
- 1:37Speaker 3: Like cable. We started o cable TV, which I always
- 1:41Speaker 3: thought was the biggest thing. That's where you want to
- 1:43Speaker 3: be cable and now okay gone and now it's streaming,
- 1:47Speaker 3: so it's it's different. And then with the grandkids, now
- 1:51Speaker 3: you're starting to see the you know, the iPads and
- 1:54Speaker 3: the phones and so you're starting to say that we're
- 1:59Speaker 3: starting you're starting to see where that is such an
- 2:01Speaker 3: integral part of their lives where you know, a lot
- 2:03Speaker 3: and even if you limit them as their friends have
- 2:06Speaker 3: them and all that. And so you're either going to
- 2:08Speaker 3: try to fight the battle or you're just gonna say,
- 2:11Speaker 3: we're not gonna do that all. Can we offer better
- 2:14Speaker 3: options you know for that for what you can watch
- 2:18Speaker 3: and I think that's I think that's important to have something.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I think we can all scream and say we hate
- 2:23Speaker 3: you know, we hate the where it's at, or we
- 2:25Speaker 3: hate the stuff that streamers put out or what movies
- 2:28Speaker 3: are like or whatever. You can gripe about it and
- 2:31Speaker 3: hate it, or you can try to, you know, have
- 2:33Speaker 3: another option just to say this is, you know, this
- 2:36Speaker 3: is better. We do think families need to let everything down,
- 2:40Speaker 3: family meal together, you know, and and sit there and
- 2:43Speaker 3: talk and so. But when you do have that, not
- 2:47Speaker 3: think our kids and great kids have been a big
- 2:49Speaker 3: part of that has said this is something that we've
- 2:52Speaker 3: done some of the work to help you out to
- 2:54Speaker 3: gather the good content together so that you can all
- 2:57Speaker 3: be in one place and watch it.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And this is more than a streaming ser versus elsa
- 3:00Speaker 1: as podcast and devotionals, I believe, just so we can
- 3:03Speaker 1: tell people what it is. Do you guys think Hollywood
- 3:04Speaker 1: has kind of overlooked the faith, the family audience and
- 3:07Speaker 1: where does this fit in terms of maybe what people
- 3:12Speaker 1: are looking for and hungry for.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know if they've overlooked it as much
- 3:15Speaker 3: as they just they posed to understand it.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that that's true. They don't understand it,
- 3:20Speaker 2: but I do think, yeah, there it is this kind
- 3:23Speaker 2: of centiment in Hollywood that it's like if it's too
- 3:26Speaker 2: earnest or if it's like has too much faith and
- 3:30Speaker 2: maley values, people won't watch it. And you're just like, well,
- 3:33Speaker 2: maybe that's just not what you're offering to people. You know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: maybe when you do offer that to people. And I
- 3:38Speaker 2: think we've proved it with the kind of sye. We've
- 3:40Speaker 2: proved it with movies like God's Not Dead and with
- 3:44Speaker 2: there's a lot of faith films and faith television shows
- 3:47Speaker 2: that people love and have watched, and you look back
- 3:50Speaker 2: at I was just thinking about maybe Toy Story five
- 3:53Speaker 2: that just came out, like it's got a strong message,
- 3:56Speaker 2: you know, it's it's saying something to the world. Then,
- 4:00Speaker 2: so I think everybody knows that entertainment is moving us
- 4:05Speaker 2: like it there is an agenda, there is a something
- 4:09Speaker 2: that we are trying to say with it. And so
- 4:12Speaker 2: for us, we were just saying, like, Okay, we want
- 4:14Speaker 2: to be mindful about what that is and what kind
- 4:17Speaker 2: of content, what kind of messaging is being told to
- 4:21Speaker 2: us through the things that we're consuming, and we want
- 4:24Speaker 2: to help be a part of creating something better.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Ekkl dot com is the website for those who want
- 4:39Speaker 1: to check it out. The two of you are also
- 4:40Speaker 1: executive producers of ANUE film, Elijah Pel, releasing in theaters
- 4:43Speaker 1: August the fourteenth. I know very little about this. Tell
- 4:47Speaker 1: me about it, Elijah Peel was.
- 4:50Speaker 3: It was a kind of stories that we wanted to
- 4:52Speaker 3: put out and I wanted to partner with with that goal.
- 4:55Speaker 3: But even before I think we would love this movie.
- 4:57Speaker 3: It's one of those movies you watch and you're like, wait,
- 5:00Speaker 3: I didn't know this was faith which we kind of
- 5:02Speaker 3: like that. I kind of like it that It's not
- 5:04Speaker 3: like from the first five minutes, I, oh, there's no
- 5:07Speaker 3: doubt this is a faith based movie. It's not that
- 5:09Speaker 3: it's a gritty story of a rock star. He based
- 5:13Speaker 3: on our true story. You know, he's chasing after all
- 5:16Speaker 3: the things in life. Who thinks he's reached all that,
- 5:19Speaker 3: but his life is just a mess. And then he
- 5:21Speaker 3: finds himself may in the in the hospital, and now
- 5:25Speaker 3: he's having to reflect like his whole life, meaning of life,
- 5:28Speaker 3: all these things. I think we all have been through it,
- 5:31Speaker 3: you know, we question and then God provides this this
- 5:34Speaker 3: young girls who's got her own issues with medical stuff,
- 5:38Speaker 3: and when they create this relationship, it's a story of
- 5:41Speaker 3: redemption and you're never too far gone. So it's just
- 5:44Speaker 3: the stories we loved. It reminded us of the blind
- 5:47Speaker 3: of Yeah, my father's story. Yeah, it was definitely that.
- 5:51Speaker 3: It's reminded me of that, and it's a great story.
- 5:54Speaker 3: And so yeah, so when we and it's done really well,
- 5:57Speaker 3: it's shot will it's great. It's a great story in
- 6:00Speaker 3: a great The way it's put together is great. So yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 3: Cory and I love. That's us going beyond just up
- 6:06Speaker 3: palasting what we move done. Now, it's about you know,
- 6:08Speaker 3: this platform Echo is about bigger picture or bigger show,
- 6:12Speaker 3: more stories, more podcasts, and more ideas that can come
- 6:16Speaker 3: out of this that don't have the gatekeepers. You know,
- 6:19Speaker 3: the gatekeepers are the problem. You can't get stuff out
- 6:21Speaker 3: because there's a gatekeeper there said nope, we're not putting
- 6:24Speaker 3: that out, and you got to say I like this
- 6:26Speaker 3: or that, and so this is our basically a different
- 6:30Speaker 3: burden of that where you don't have to.
- 6:33Speaker 4: If you like today's episode, please subscribe to leave a
- 6:36Speaker 4: five star review.
