- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Justin Kats. My name
- 0:17Speaker 2: is Michael Bennett on this Wednesday, June third. As we, uh,
- 0:22Speaker 2: another thing we don't get to hear anymore from Justin.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I don't get distracted when I'm saying it's Wednesday, you know, Matthew.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Good morning, Matthew. By the way, how are you as
- 0:32Speaker 2: you're fixing your microphone? Are are we okay over there? Good? Okay? Good?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Do you remember what he would say on Wednesdays? No
- 0:42Speaker 2: you don't. It's hump day? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Your enthusiasm
- 0:47Speaker 2: is just overwhelming.
- 0:48Speaker 1: So I just feel weird doing like all the just no,
- 0:51Speaker 1: you can't do it.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I don't. I don't like doing it. I don't want
- 0:54Speaker 2: you to. Yeah, exactly, and I get it, and nor
- 0:57Speaker 2: should you do that? Are we? Are we and Mike
- 1:00Speaker 2: problems in these studios because you know Corey left yesterday.
- 1:04Speaker 2: He just gets up and the microphone falls off and
- 1:06Speaker 2: the arm just flings up. I don't know what's going
- 1:09Speaker 2: on here. It wouldn't be the first time, it wouldn't
- 1:11Speaker 2: be okay, well, uh, that's what she said five O
- 1:15Speaker 2: two three eight four fourteen fifty. You want to call
- 1:17Speaker 2: in five oh two four to one four fourteen fifty.
- 1:19Speaker 2: You want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Know you tweet me? It just the cat radio. Uh.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I do want to ask you a question, though, Matthew,
- 1:30Speaker 2: are you feeling like there is more? I hate to
- 1:34Speaker 2: say the word We're on YouTube right now, right, yes, okay, good?
- 1:39Speaker 2: I hate to say the word road rage. But do
- 1:43Speaker 2: you notice a difference in the impatience of drivers since
- 1:48Speaker 2: this whole I sixty five shutdown? Uh?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Maybe not drivers, but uh people in general, some who
- 1:56Speaker 1: don't literally ran out in front of my car yesterday
- 1:58Speaker 1: on purpose. What I was where was this right across
- 2:02Speaker 1: from the Thorntons right next door?
- 2:04Speaker 2: I was driving home.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and uh, I'd just driven out to like Hike's
- 2:09Speaker 1: Point over there to go to the grocery store real quick, okay,
- 2:11Speaker 1: come back home, right, And I see the two guys
- 2:14Speaker 1: like they're just standing on the side of the road
- 2:15Speaker 1: looking like they're getting ready to cross. I'm maybe three
- 2:18Speaker 1: feet from them, and this d literally just jumps out
- 2:21Speaker 1: in front of my car. I'd like swerve in the other
- 2:23Speaker 1: lay and almost hit somebody.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. And did you blow your horn? Yes,
- 2:29Speaker 2: of course. And did he sit anel back at you? Uh?
- 2:32Speaker 1: No, Oh he didn't. He just walked across the street.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Credit him. He didn't care. Wow. I just yeah, I'm
- 2:40Speaker 2: noticing more and more impatience of drivers. And maybe it's
- 2:43Speaker 2: just me, but I feel like sometimes I have the
- 2:46Speaker 2: worst luck because people are always cutting me off. I
- 2:49Speaker 2: never understand why, but my wife will always say, no,
- 2:52Speaker 2: it's it's not just you. It's happening to everybody. And
- 2:55Speaker 2: it seems like third day in a row, and the
- 2:59Speaker 2: can open is succeeding at a multiplier of times ten.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I think, right now are we up to We should
- 3:07Speaker 2: keep a count how many trucks are going through that
- 3:11Speaker 2: third You know we talked about it. What was it Monday? Yesterday?
- 3:14Speaker 2: I can't remember which. The days are just falling together
- 3:17Speaker 2: for me right now. The Third Street bridge has already
- 3:21Speaker 2: claimed five trucks. I know it was four yesterday, so
- 3:25Speaker 2: it was there another one today?
- 3:27Speaker 1: I thought it was five, But maybe you're right, Maybe
- 3:30Speaker 1: maybe I'm wrong.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I thought it was like for the first day on Monday.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I hadn't seen it. I only knew just what people
- 3:36Speaker 1: had told me, so I could be wrong.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh my goodness. There was one truck that was
- 3:40Speaker 2: going through and all of a sudden, they showed it
- 3:44Speaker 2: on the news this morning. They slammed the brakes on
- 3:47Speaker 2: and they did not hit the bridge. It's baffling to me,
- 3:53Speaker 2: these truckers that are just thinking they can get through
- 3:55Speaker 2: this bridge and they don't. But it's pure I'm sorry
- 4:01Speaker 2: for these guys, but it's in entertainment for me. But
- 4:04Speaker 2: we should keep a canniper count while these two months
- 4:08Speaker 2: are going on at this point. Yeah, yeah, so I think,
- 4:12Speaker 2: all right, we'll just say four then we'll take your work.
- 4:15Speaker 2: But h I promise you. I think there is going
- 4:17Speaker 2: to be more impatience possible road rage while all of
- 4:23Speaker 2: this is going on in the next couple of months.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I hope not. I hope people are just a little
- 4:28Speaker 2: more understanding and just a little more patient.
- 4:33Speaker 1: But you don't seem to think. So that's asking a lot, Michael,
- 4:35Speaker 1: it is. I mean, you're asking people in Louisville to
- 4:38Speaker 1: be patient drivers. They're not even good drivers in general. So, oh,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you think Louisville drivers are bad drivers.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I think they're terrible. I think Indiana drivers are worse.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Let me rephrase.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I think Louisville people, when they're driving their cars are
- 4:52Speaker 1: the most selfish drivers on the plane.
- 4:54Speaker 2: My gosh, that's hardcore.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I think they genuinely are the like as soon as
- 4:58Speaker 1: people here stepping their car, they are the most oblivious
- 5:01Speaker 1: to other human beings on the really, yes, okay, I
- 5:04Speaker 1: think they believe they're in like military tanks so they
- 5:07Speaker 1: can just never be harmed, so they just do whatever
- 5:10Speaker 1: they want. Are you a nice driver or a mean driver?
- 5:15Speaker 1: I feel like I'm I'm in the middle, I guess.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Cause do you let people come over when they're trying
- 5:19Speaker 2: to come over onto the expressway from a ramp or
- 5:22Speaker 2: when somebody's trying to turn and you're to stop, Like
- 5:25Speaker 2: do you let them in front of you? All that
- 5:27Speaker 2: kind of stuff? Are you a courteous driver? I should say, yes,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I am. I feel like I am too. It always
- 5:33Speaker 2: makes me laugh when someone won't let me pull out
- 5:36Speaker 2: and they just act like you're not there.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Usually because what happens is what the first person, like,
- 5:41Speaker 1: like you said, if you're trying to like you're like, oh,
- 5:44Speaker 1: I'm in the wrong lane, backs and let me get over.
- 5:46Speaker 1: If one person doesn't let you. Then that's forty five
- 5:48Speaker 1: more cars that are going. Yeah, they're all following suit.
- 5:51Speaker 2: My only criticism is going to be to the cyclists
- 5:54Speaker 2: out there that are driving down roads. Let's not do
- 5:57Speaker 2: that right now during high traffic time. Okay, when it's
- 6:01Speaker 2: uh morning traffic or afternoon. Let's suggest to the cyclist
- 6:07Speaker 2: go to a park and ride your bike. Don't go
- 6:09Speaker 2: being don't don't don't go down roads that are typically
- 6:12Speaker 2: busy at high traffic hours. I agree, that's that's one
- 6:17Speaker 2: thing that's really irritating me. Yeah, I don't like that. Look,
- 6:22Speaker 2: if you like riding your bike, you like riding your bike.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I don't like that cyclists get the same exact rules
- 6:27Speaker 2: that cars get. Yeah, I'm with you, especially when they're
- 6:30Speaker 2: going through red lights. I witnessed a couple of days ago,
- 6:34Speaker 2: two different cyclists going through red lights. It's like, dude,
- 6:37Speaker 2: you're gonna get run over and you're gonna blame the car.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Yeah that's what's going to happen. Yeah, exactly. Well, I
- 6:42Speaker 2: do get a little irritant when it comes to bicyclists.
- 6:47Speaker 2: I gotta watch myself. So yeah, I do get a
- 6:51Speaker 2: little air because you know, I use river road quite
- 6:53Speaker 2: a bit, and they're in the middle of the road
- 6:55Speaker 2: going down the River road and it just drives me nuts.
- 6:58Speaker 2: And then you always have those ones there, Grinstead and
- 7:00Speaker 2: Lexington and they just go through red lights. That's where
- 7:03Speaker 2: it happened. It's like, okay, and police officers won't give
- 7:06Speaker 2: them tickets. You know why, because they're not carrying their license. Well,
- 7:10Speaker 2: if you're on a bicycle, don't you think if you're
- 7:14Speaker 2: gonna be on the road, on a public road, you
- 7:16Speaker 2: should carry your license.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I think if you're a grown man, you're wearing a
- 7:21Speaker 1: skin type by you have to have a license for
- 7:24Speaker 1: that thing.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, don't get me started on that. But I
- 7:29Speaker 2: don't want to listen. I'm sure they're very nice people,
- 7:31Speaker 2: but man, they get on my nerves. I will tell
- 7:34Speaker 2: you that. So let's talk about a couple of things, because,
- 7:37Speaker 2: my goodness, what a day makes. As as as far
- 7:43Speaker 2: as what a difference a day makes for the University
- 7:46Speaker 2: Kentucky basketball team, I mean, it is amazing how many
- 7:52Speaker 2: not just the fan base. And it is fun to
- 7:54Speaker 2: watch that too. It's fun to see the fan base
- 7:58Speaker 2: go from we want somebody else to be a head coach. Oh,
- 8:01Speaker 2: Mark Pope's is awesome. It's like, just twenty four hours
- 8:04Speaker 2: ago you weren't happy with Mark Pope, now you're ecstatic
- 8:07Speaker 2: with him. The other part is the national media is
- 8:10Speaker 2: really going nuts for this, because there is a number
- 8:15Speaker 2: of national media, including Jeff Borsello John Rothstein, that didn't
- 8:24Speaker 2: even have UK ranked in the preseason polls the day before,
- 8:30Speaker 2: and now all of a sudden, they're either Borzella has
- 8:35Speaker 2: a UK at seventeen, Rostein has UK at sixteen of
- 8:40Speaker 2: all places, and that's kind of where I was projecting.
- 8:45Speaker 2: You were like outside the top twenty five, which I
- 8:47Speaker 2: thought you were kind of hardcore. But I think what's
- 8:51Speaker 2: funny is that John Rostein had UK at forty the
- 8:56Speaker 2: day before, and then as soon as Milan mam Chilovich
- 9:00Speaker 2: signed and committed with the Universe of Kentucky, he now
- 9:04Speaker 2: has just with that one player, Kentucky ranked sixteenth in
- 9:08Speaker 2: the country. What do you think about that? I don't
- 9:13Speaker 2: really take anything John Rostein that doesn't surprise me.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I genuinely believe John Rostein is like the world's first
- 9:21Speaker 1: ever AI, but he's stopped learning the first ever A.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I think he's a robot. I don't think he's a
- 9:30Speaker 1: real person. Really okay, I mean I don't care. I
- 9:33Speaker 1: don't mind it. It's off season talk is like my
- 9:37Speaker 1: least favorite of the year, especially the transit portal is over,
- 9:40Speaker 1: because it's just everybody just saying, well, I think they're
- 9:43Speaker 1: gonna be here. Well, I think they're gonna be Like
- 9:45Speaker 1: you said, I feel like they're they're like a fringe
- 9:48Speaker 1: chop twenty five team. You think they're like seventeenth, eighteenth, sixteenth,
- 9:51Speaker 1: Like that's fine, Like anybody can have their own opinion.
- 9:54Speaker 1: They all see it differently. It's all entirely subjective. We
- 9:57Speaker 1: don't know until they started playing games were like eighty
- 10:00Speaker 1: ninety days away from so like like way more than that.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I'm sorry, way.
- 10:05Speaker 2: More than I was gonna say, Yeah, we're ninety seven
- 10:08Speaker 2: days away from football.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yes, that's what I was, That's what I was thinking.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Idam mixed up, But I don't know. It's just every
- 10:17Speaker 1: single time, whether I see a media member say that
- 10:20Speaker 1: like Kentucky's here, or I see them say Louisll's here,
- 10:23Speaker 1: or they say Duke is here, I'm just like, dude,
- 10:25Speaker 1: like we're just guessing, you know what I mean. So
- 10:28Speaker 1: if that's what they believe. That's they believe it's fun.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I am too. I mean, if that's what they want
- 10:33Speaker 2: to believe, I kind of like it. And hopefully it's
- 10:37Speaker 2: uh yeah, it's one hundred and fifty days until basketball
- 10:40Speaker 2: season starts, so there you go. So it's still a
- 10:45Speaker 2: ways away and we're not going to know anything for
- 10:48Speaker 2: uh probably what one hundred and seventy five days if
- 10:52Speaker 2: this is going to be a good team or not.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Well, the only sporting event I care about is eight
- 10:55Speaker 1: days away.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Oh boy, I'm so excited about that too. I will
- 11:01Speaker 2: be will you really? Where will you? Uh? Now, I've
- 11:05Speaker 2: got a buddy that's going out to LA to watch
- 11:08Speaker 2: a game, and then he's also going to Atlanta to.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Go watch another game. Jealous of your buddy, and I
- 11:15Speaker 1: looked at him, I'm like, wow, is Like Michael, it's
- 11:22Speaker 1: the it's the world. I mean, it's it's the biggest
- 11:25Speaker 1: tournament on the planet.
- 11:27Speaker 2: It is to you, it's not to me.
- 11:29Speaker 1: No, it's like the world. It is by per capita,
- 11:31Speaker 1: bye bye bye citizen, by fame, per capita, by fan.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I love how you put that in there. By fan
- 11:37Speaker 1: is it is the largest sports tournament in the world.
- 11:40Speaker 2: All right, But how much do you think the United
- 11:43Speaker 2: States cares about the World Cup? A lot? Do you really?
- 11:48Speaker 1: Because I think that the United States not because of
- 11:50Speaker 1: you know, whether it's soccer or as basketball or whatever,
- 11:53Speaker 1: the United States still has that like USA hoorah stuff
- 11:57Speaker 1: go on whenever sports going.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Do you think it's the patriotism coming here?
- 12:02Speaker 1: Yes, Like I see it every Olympics I saw. I've
- 12:05Speaker 1: seen it every World Cup. Like people who don't even
- 12:07Speaker 1: watch the sport come out just to support it because
- 12:09Speaker 1: they're like, I want to see the USA beat these
- 12:12Speaker 1: other guys.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I get it.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I remember when in twenty twenty it was twenty twenty two,
- 12:19Speaker 1: the last World Cup, we played England in the group stage,
- 12:22Speaker 1: and I remember going out to like like bar hopping
- 12:26Speaker 1: that night. I had seen thousands of people like talking
- 12:31Speaker 1: about the game that night, and like when I went
- 12:33Speaker 1: to when I went to the bar, I went to
- 12:34Speaker 1: a local bar down the street here and watched the game.
- 12:37Speaker 1: They had to take the tables and chairs out of
- 12:39Speaker 1: the bar. There was like, whoa, there were really three
- 12:41Speaker 1: thousand people in this bar watching this game. What bar
- 12:43Speaker 1: is this? It was Saints Oh down to Saint Matthew. Yes,
- 12:47Speaker 1: it's a it's a soccer bar.
- 12:49Speaker 2: What now, wait a minute, Now, that's that's unfair. That's
- 12:52Speaker 2: an unfair comparison because you're talking about a bar that
- 12:57Speaker 2: is promoting soccer. I'm talking about general public Joe blow
- 13:03Speaker 2: out there, that is just a fan of everything. But
- 13:07Speaker 2: do you think that guy is literally gonna be sincerely
- 13:10Speaker 2: interested in World Cup?
- 13:13Speaker 1: I think if you tell them the United States is playing,
- 13:15Speaker 1: they would watch it, would they?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Yeah, just for the.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Sole fact of, you know, like that they have a
- 13:20Speaker 1: team in the fight, you know what I mean? Like now,
- 13:21Speaker 1: as soon as the USA is eliminated, if they don't care,
- 13:25Speaker 1: they don't care, that's probably fine.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I go I completely.
- 13:26Speaker 1: But you'll continue to watch even the USA. I'll watch
- 13:30Speaker 1: as many matches I can.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Will you really? You love soccer that much? You'll just
- 13:34Speaker 2: watch random matches? Yeah? Wow, Okay, I doubt if I
- 13:39Speaker 2: even watch the United States play.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Like in twenty twenty two, it was in guitar, gazarr, Yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 1: it was in guitar. The World Cup final was at
- 13:52Speaker 1: three am. I got up to watch it.
- 13:55Speaker 2: You've gotta be kidding me. Is this is before Paulina?
- 13:59Speaker 2: So I guarantee you won't be doing it this time.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I will be seriously, Yeah, because if I wouldn't have
- 14:05Speaker 1: watched it, I would have missed Lionel Messi winning his
- 14:07Speaker 1: first ever World Cup, okay, and I wouldn't have forgiven
- 14:10Speaker 1: myself for that.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's that's good for you. I'm happy for you.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Like I said, if you don't, if peoplen't like the sport,
- 14:16Speaker 1: that's fine.
- 14:17Speaker 2: I can toletely get it.
- 14:18Speaker 1: But like it is, like so, like the World Cup
- 14:21Speaker 1: is the one part where if you, if somebody hasn't
- 14:24Speaker 1: taken a part of soccer, like really pay attention to it,
- 14:27Speaker 1: at least give it a chance. It's it's extremely exciting
- 14:30Speaker 1: to watch. Well, I've given it a chance. I've gone
- 14:32Speaker 1: to a Louisville game here in town, the whatever the
- 14:36Speaker 1: semi pro team they have here, and I I was
- 14:40Speaker 1: done within fifteen minutes. I meant, like, if you, if
- 14:43Speaker 1: you've never seen like the World Cup before, give the
- 14:45Speaker 1: World Cup.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Oh okay, Yeah, well I've given soccer a try. It's
- 14:49Speaker 2: just it's just boring to me. I stayed for the
- 14:52Speaker 2: whole game, but I just didn't really pay attention. Yeah,
- 14:57Speaker 2: I just I don't understand the passion for it. I
- 15:02Speaker 2: thought I was that way with hockey until I went
- 15:05Speaker 2: to my very first game, and it took me less
- 15:07Speaker 2: than five minutes to fall in love with hockey because
- 15:09Speaker 2: hockey is exciting to me. Hockey is they score for
- 15:15Speaker 2: the most part, and if they don't, then they finish
- 15:19Speaker 2: it with scores very very few times, kind of like NFL.
- 15:22Speaker 2: They will end in the time. But soccer ins and
- 15:25Speaker 2: ties all the time. It's like, why do you want
- 15:27Speaker 2: to watch that? When they it was only one? Nothing?
- 15:30Speaker 2: I mean, come on, man, I just I have tried it.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I don't think I'll try it again. I all right,
- 15:39Speaker 2: I'll go against everything I believe in.
- 15:41Speaker 1: You don't have to just for you, because I'll talk
- 15:44Speaker 1: about it enough on your show.
- 15:45Speaker 2: You don't need to. That's what's gonna kill me. And
- 15:47Speaker 2: I won't know what you're talking about. You don't need to.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Why then I won't be a part of the conversation.
- 15:52Speaker 2: You can be talking to yourself. How much fun is that?
- 15:54Speaker 2: Do people really want to listen to you? Just talk
- 15:57Speaker 2: to yourself? I mean that's I do that whenever you're
- 16:00Speaker 2: not here. Okay, all right, fine, I get I mean
- 16:03Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Don't go ahead and say it. No,
- 16:06Speaker 2: I don't know what you mean, Matthew. Okay, no, I
- 16:12Speaker 2: love how you are. All right? Then, well, so USA
- 16:16Speaker 2: plays win.
- 16:17Speaker 1: They play the twelfth I believe where they play in California.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Oh, they do against there. So that's in San Francisco,
- 16:28Speaker 2: then at what used to be called the Levi Stadium
- 16:33Speaker 2: because they covered everything up and they're not allowed to
- 16:35Speaker 2: say because of little FIFA. I have no idea what
- 16:39Speaker 2: I think it's so far? Oh it is. So they're
- 16:42Speaker 2: playing in San Francisco and LA.
- 16:44Speaker 1: They're playing all over the West Coast. Their first games
- 16:46Speaker 1: in LA in the second games, like Seattle in.
- 16:48Speaker 2: The third games. Oh wow, I didn't realize that. The
- 16:50Speaker 2: California again, And so the other stadiums they're playing, and
- 16:53Speaker 2: I know they're playing at Mercedes Bins, which can't say
- 16:56Speaker 2: that anymore. But they're playing in Atlanta. Where else are
- 16:59Speaker 2: they playing besides out this way? They're playing at where
- 17:04Speaker 2: the Jets and the Giants play. Yeah, they're playing. You
- 17:12Speaker 2: don't even know either. I can't remember. I can't go
- 17:14Speaker 2: to anything.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You're such a fan, you don't even know what they're playing, Michael,
- 17:17Speaker 1: I can't go to it. And why do I care
- 17:18Speaker 1: what stams they play at. I think it's important. They
- 17:21Speaker 1: could go play at Louisville City Stadium for all I care,
- 17:23Speaker 1: and you wouldn't go.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I would go.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I can't afford to go. No, if nobody can. If
- 17:28Speaker 1: it was in my city, I would take out a
- 17:30Speaker 1: business loan.
- 17:30Speaker 2: By the way, with all the tickets that are in
- 17:34Speaker 2: the pricing that they have on the tickets, have they
- 17:36Speaker 2: sold out? I would say no, probably not. Part of
- 17:41Speaker 2: me wishes hopes that they don't sell out because it
- 17:43Speaker 2: teaches them a lesson not to overcharge us. Well, the
- 17:46Speaker 2: prices aren't that much over when they're in Europe? Are
- 17:48Speaker 2: they for the World Cup? Oh?
- 17:50Speaker 1: I mean it goes based on what they're like, the
- 17:52Speaker 1: country's you know, GDP and everything.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Oh, so they're taking advantage of the United States.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody knew this was gonna happen as soon as
- 17:58Speaker 1: it came back to United States. These these countries, we're
- 18:00Speaker 1: gonna have to learn what capitalism means.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, all right, then, one thing I do want
- 18:06Speaker 2: to talk about Cayle Tucker. I thought was interesting posts
- 18:09Speaker 2: that he had yesterday. Yesterday, Kyle Tucker went through the
- 18:14Speaker 2: Basketball Reference is what he claimed and found that Milan
- 18:18Speaker 2: mam Chilovich since the three point line was introduced, is
- 18:22Speaker 2: the only player who has made one hundred and thirty
- 18:26Speaker 2: plus three points.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Oh, you're waiting for me to I mean it's big
- 18:33Speaker 1: for him, that's big.
- 18:36Speaker 2: That's huge at forty eight percent clip in a season
- 18:40Speaker 2: of Division one players, so that he's the only one
- 18:44Speaker 2: that's ever done this absolutely remarkable. Can he repeat this though?
- 18:48Speaker 2: Justin Matthew, I'm so sorry.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I mean, he definitely can. He's gonna have the opportunity.
- 18:53Speaker 1: He's gonna have the ultimate green lie. He's being able
- 18:55Speaker 1: to shoot whoever he wants. He's gonna be able to
- 18:57Speaker 1: take whatever shot he wants.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I see, I think so too. But I think defenses
- 19:01Speaker 2: are getting ready right now. Coaches are getting ready to
- 19:04Speaker 2: put these defenses up that will guard against him being
- 19:08Speaker 2: able to do that, which to me means either they're
- 19:12Speaker 2: gonna have to run a better offense at UK and
- 19:15Speaker 2: or even more so, I think there's gonna have to
- 19:18Speaker 2: be more shooters out there for UK. It can't be
- 19:21Speaker 2: just mom Chilovic, can it.
- 19:24Speaker 1: No, ca't you have to find scoring somewhere else, whether
- 19:27Speaker 1: it's Alex Wilkins or whether Zoom Diallo becomes more of
- 19:30Speaker 1: a Cam Williams.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Cam Williams, that's who I'm counting on. I think it's
- 19:35Speaker 2: gonna be fun and give Cam Williams a lot more opportunity.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And I, like I predicted last year, I was really
- 19:44Speaker 2: excited when Cam Williams decided to leave Toulane and come
- 19:46Speaker 2: to Kentucky. He is going to be a fun player
- 19:49Speaker 2: to watch and he is going to be a lot
- 19:52Speaker 2: more successful than people give him credit for. And that
- 19:55Speaker 2: that's what I'm predicting right now. I predicted that last year.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Unfortunately he got injured right when he was getting hot,
- 20:01Speaker 2: and I predict he's gonna pick up where he left
- 20:03Speaker 2: off last year. Now, UKU of L, Well, how are
- 20:11Speaker 2: you feeling about this game? Since Mom Chilovich has joined
- 20:18Speaker 2: the likes of University Kentucky the game is at reperina?
- 20:22Speaker 2: Are you a little more nervous as a UO L
- 20:25Speaker 2: fan with this roster now at UK?
- 20:30Speaker 1: I guess in the terms of like Kentucky has like
- 20:32Speaker 1: a legitimate scorer now but a little bit, I guess.
- 20:35Speaker 2: A little bit, but not much. You still think y'all
- 20:38Speaker 2: go in there and beat UK at rup.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I think so okay. But I mean I'm not gonna sit.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'm not gonna pretend like I believe they'll win by
- 20:47Speaker 1: like twenty or something like. I think it'll be a
- 20:49Speaker 1: really good game. It's always a really good game no
- 20:51Speaker 1: matter what the rosters look like. I just my big
- 20:55Speaker 1: quarrel with this Kentucky roster is that I don't think
- 20:58Speaker 1: there's enough depth. I think that you're starting five is good.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I think you're starting five is definitely good enough to
- 21:05Speaker 1: compete with a lot of teams in the country. I
- 21:08Speaker 1: just think that, you know, once you get like the
- 21:10Speaker 1: backup for Malachi Marayo, there's not a lot of depth.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Once you get the backup for you know, Zoom Diallo,
- 21:16Speaker 1: there's not a lot of depth.
- 21:16Speaker 2: How deep do you think UK goes on the bench.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I think they go three deep. I think they have
- 21:24Speaker 2: eight solid players.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I mean I could see that, yeah, I just don't
- 21:28Speaker 1: think that those three guys come off the bench can
- 21:32Speaker 1: like move to separate positions.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I think that they're very stuck in where they're at.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So I think you're gonna have to see a couple
- 21:38Speaker 1: guys like Milan or like Zoom or like Malachi have
- 21:42Speaker 1: to play really heavy minutes this season.
- 21:44Speaker 2: How deep do you think U of L is round
- 21:49Speaker 2: similar eight or nine? Okay, and so you're you're criticizing
- 21:54Speaker 2: UK about depth, but yet you're saying the same amount
- 21:57Speaker 2: of players at U of L eight or nine.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Well, I think the U of LA has multiple players
- 22:02Speaker 1: that can play multiple positions. So like I think that
- 22:05Speaker 1: there's there's a backup for almost everybody. The only spot
- 22:08Speaker 1: that doesn't really have a true backup is Carter Knox.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, which is now I'm not going to
- 22:14Speaker 2: criticize Carter Knox, but anyway, we'll leave We'll leave it
- 22:17Speaker 2: at that. So we got to take our first break.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Five O two three four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 22:21Speaker 2: call five two four one four fourteen fifty, you want
- 22:24Speaker 2: to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line. We'll
- 22:25Speaker 2: get to those sus. We get back and uh uh
- 22:28Speaker 2: talk about a few other things when as well. Steph Curry,
- 22:32Speaker 2: I've never heard of the shoe company, but we will
- 22:36Speaker 2: now for the next ten years. Stay right there. More
- 22:39Speaker 2: justic CAATs coming right up, you know, talking about the
- 23:24Speaker 2: UK U of L game, did you realize it's been
- 23:27Speaker 2: since two thousand and what season two thousand and seven,
- 23:30Speaker 2: two thousand and eight since U of L beat uk Reporina. Yes,
- 23:34Speaker 2: I didn't know that.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a long time. That's unacceptable amount of time.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I was surprised by that. I didn't realize it
- 23:43Speaker 2: had been that long since it had happened. But I
- 23:47Speaker 2: was surprised by that.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I was surprised when I first found that. I was
- 23:51Speaker 1: as well. I. I mean, it's one thing I don't
- 23:55Speaker 1: really have a lot to say about.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Tell me why I don't understand. Here's one thing I
- 24:01Speaker 2: really like. Uh did you see where November six? Uh,
- 24:06Speaker 2: there's going to be a rematch in Boston of the
- 24:11Speaker 2: National Championship Game between Michigan and Yukon. I like that?
- 24:17Speaker 2: What there is? Did you not know this now? So
- 24:21Speaker 2: they're they're playing November. So Michigan basketball is going to
- 24:25Speaker 2: be playing Yukon basketball in Boston on TNT. Interesting for
- 24:32Speaker 2: the Hall of Fame series. I think it's really cool
- 24:36Speaker 2: and I wish they would do that. To me, that
- 24:38Speaker 2: should be the first game every year. You end with
- 24:40Speaker 2: the last game, the title game, and then those two
- 24:44Speaker 2: teams should agree to meet as a part of the
- 24:47Speaker 2: very first game the following year. Why not make that
- 24:52Speaker 2: the n I T? I mean, does anybody really watch
- 24:55Speaker 2: the n I T except for the fans of the
- 24:57Speaker 2: teams that are in it? Does it? For the vast
- 25:00Speaker 2: majority of basketball fans really don't watch the n I T?
- 25:04Speaker 2: Is that fair to say? Or am I speaking over
- 25:07Speaker 2: that's fair to say?
- 25:07Speaker 1: Like if you're gonna if you want to tell me that,
- 25:11Speaker 1: like a lot of people are not going to watch
- 25:14Speaker 1: the World Cup, that's fine. I don't even care if
- 25:16Speaker 1: my favorite team is in the n I'm not watching it.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Oh really, So if U of L is in the
- 25:21Speaker 1: n I T you're not watching, I'm not watching. I'm
- 25:24Speaker 1: not keeping up.
- 25:25Speaker 2: I get it.
- 25:27Speaker 1: It's like we're I respect the players that in today's
- 25:33Speaker 1: era still playing that stuff. I respect it, but you
- 25:36Speaker 1: you get there's nothing you get out of it, like
- 25:39Speaker 1: winning It is a no prestige. It doesn't help you
- 25:41Speaker 1: in the next season, there's no nil incentive. It's it's
- 25:44Speaker 1: literally just for television and the schools to make money.
- 25:48Speaker 1: So I'm not watching it. I'm not supporting my team playing.
- 25:50Speaker 2: That, all right, So if they switched it and said Okay,
- 25:53Speaker 2: let's make the N I t h the Final four
- 25:57Speaker 2: from the March Madness, and now let's make it the
- 25:59Speaker 2: n I see the first tournament of the season for
- 26:02Speaker 2: the very next season. I think I'd watch that. Yeah,
- 26:06Speaker 2: I mean, I'd be very interested in it.
- 26:08Speaker 1: They'd actually be incentive to it, you know, they see
- 26:10Speaker 1: a regular season schedule. The only thing that would make
- 26:12Speaker 1: that work is they'd have to have an nil incentive
- 26:14Speaker 1: with it, just like how the New Era Players Tournament does.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with that, and I think the players
- 26:21Speaker 2: would enjoy that. And then now you're playing in the gardens,
- 26:28Speaker 2: Madison Square Gardens, and that would be a lot of fun.
- 26:30Speaker 2: But I like this. I like that Yukon and Michigan
- 26:34Speaker 2: are playing each other really early in the season as
- 26:37Speaker 2: a part of the Hall of Fame, and it just
- 26:40Speaker 2: I think it sets a tone for the season that
- 26:43Speaker 2: Harry you got right off the bat a really good game.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I just like that idea.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I just want better basketball throughout the season.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I'm an advocate of I can't stand what football does
- 26:53Speaker 1: where every team just has this cupcake schedule that's out
- 26:55Speaker 1: of conference. I enjoy that basketball is the opposite, where
- 27:00Speaker 1: and I understand why they're doing football because you want
- 27:02Speaker 1: the best possible chance to make the playoff.
- 27:03Speaker 2: I can pay understand their.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Conference is hard enough, but I enjoy that in basketball
- 27:08Speaker 1: the field is wide enough that like coaches avidly want
- 27:12Speaker 1: to play tougher teams, like they want to test their
- 27:14Speaker 1: team before going into.
- 27:16Speaker 2: You know, in a tournament time.
- 27:18Speaker 1: So I'm always down for playing the heavyweights against the
- 27:21Speaker 1: heavyweights a many time as possible.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Well, I think that's changing though within the SEC. I mean,
- 27:26Speaker 2: you know, they're they're being forced to play nine conference games,
- 27:30Speaker 2: so you're not seeing those all time cupcake games like
- 27:33Speaker 2: you used to since you're you're seeing well with Kentucky,
- 27:37Speaker 2: you only seeing two cupcake games the other ones versus
- 27:40Speaker 2: U of L. So it's not really that easy of
- 27:43Speaker 2: a schedule. I mean it's extremely difficult.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I'm talking about like not like specific conference of conference
- 27:49Speaker 1: or even team to team. I'm talking about football in general.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Like the first three weeks are always nobody's playing anybody.
- 27:54Speaker 1: They're like a couple of good games. Yeah, you know
- 27:55Speaker 1: what I mean. But like the majority of college football
- 27:58Speaker 1: is uh, Alabama's playing which a tall state blind I know,
- 28:04Speaker 1: women for the blind.
- 28:05Speaker 2: I know, and it's just I don't know.
- 28:07Speaker 1: It's like I like that I like football more's a
- 28:10Speaker 1: sport than I do basketball. But I do like that
- 28:12Speaker 1: basketball jumps in earlier, and they've even made it even
- 28:15Speaker 1: more exciting by doing the exhibition games again the season
- 28:18Speaker 1: being on TV.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Now, Yeah, I get you. Uh five O two three
- 28:21Speaker 2: eight four fourteen fifty Call five O two four one
- 28:23Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty if you want to text. Uh. One
- 28:26Speaker 2: person said, good morning, Michael. I swear I'm a little
- 28:30Speaker 2: sad because I haven't seen the sunrise in three deggone
- 28:34Speaker 2: days or whatever. Kid Rock says the song if you
- 28:37Speaker 2: know what I mean, I don't know what kid rock. Well.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I shouldn't say this, but I don't know many kid
- 28:42Speaker 2: rock songs. I like some of his stuff, I just
- 28:44Speaker 2: don't do you know the reference to the song he's saying,
- 28:47Speaker 2: I don't listen to any kid rock. You don't. You're
- 28:49Speaker 2: not a kid rock fan.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I don't listen to people who mess around with people
- 28:53Speaker 1: under the date of eighteen?
- 28:55Speaker 2: Did he do that? He has avid songs where he
- 28:58Speaker 2: talks about how he likes there are women under Oh,
- 29:00Speaker 2: I didn't know that. Okay, The Canover is going to
- 29:03Speaker 2: be fat after these next two months. Although the height
- 29:07Speaker 2: might be off some under it. Sure they've paved the
- 29:10Speaker 2: roads up since they hung the signs. Man, it's just
- 29:16Speaker 2: going to be something else. And why these trucks continue
- 29:19Speaker 2: to drive under just amazes me. One person said, Other
- 29:23Speaker 2: than the top teams, how can anybody really predict how
- 29:27Speaker 2: far any team can go without seeing them dribble a basketball.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I've said this for years, and I even said it
- 29:33Speaker 2: against UK. It's like, wait a minute, wait a minute,
- 29:35Speaker 2: how can you And this is back in the cal era.
- 29:38Speaker 2: And this is not picking on Col. This is picking
- 29:40Speaker 2: on the people that are putting them Kentucky up there
- 29:43Speaker 2: in the ranking system. Col hadn't finalized a roster for
- 29:49Speaker 2: you for his Kentucky basketball team, yet people were ranking
- 29:52Speaker 2: them top five team. It's like, how do you rank
- 29:57Speaker 2: them so high? And not only that, you've got all
- 29:59Speaker 2: the freshman coming in. You haven't seen them play one
- 30:04Speaker 2: second of college basketball. Yet these guys are out there
- 30:07Speaker 2: ranking them as one of the top teams in the country.
- 30:09Speaker 2: I just and there they continue to do it at Arkansas.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I mean, this is just how sports media goes, especially
- 30:16Speaker 1: in the off season.
- 30:17Speaker 2: It doesn't.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Milan could have went to New York State College and
- 30:22Speaker 1: they would have you know, made an argument for that. Milan,
- 30:25Speaker 1: you know, makes this team a lot different. Now he
- 30:27Speaker 1: changes the dynamic of how they played. The half of
- 30:30Speaker 1: it is they need to talk about. Half that is
- 30:33Speaker 1: people actually doing like analysis on what the rosters look like,
- 30:36Speaker 1: and the other day. At the end of the day,
- 30:37Speaker 1: it all gets blended together to the point where like
- 30:40Speaker 1: these people just need things to talk about.
- 30:41Speaker 2: It's the off season. Yeah, that's probably it.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Like what do you think John Rostein does whenever basketball
- 30:46Speaker 1: is not on.
- 30:47Speaker 2: I have no idea. I would be very curious. Does
- 30:50Speaker 2: he do a podcast, does he do something else? I
- 30:53Speaker 2: don't know. What do they do?
- 30:54Speaker 1: His staff plugs him into the walls he can charge
- 30:57Speaker 1: or he can charge up for next season.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Well, you know, he can't fly on Southwest because he's
- 31:01Speaker 2: a robot and they don't let those on there. If
- 31:03Speaker 2: you're not really if you're if.
- 31:05Speaker 1: You're not a human, Well yeah, it's the same reason
- 31:06Speaker 1: you're a fan from Southwest Airline. You have to put
- 31:09Speaker 1: your phone on airplane mode. John Rostein like disconnects them
- 31:11Speaker 1: from the tower. They can't all put him on he
- 31:14Speaker 1: puts himself on airplane mode. Oh my gosh, okay, one.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Person says, speaking to drivers not paying attention, please be
- 31:21Speaker 2: aware this week as it is Crusade for Children time,
- 31:25Speaker 2: and firefighters will be out collecting. Also, shout out to
- 31:27Speaker 2: my buddy Dan and his chain Breaker Award giving out
- 31:31Speaker 2: scholarships to local at risk students to help them with college.
- 31:36Speaker 2: That's pretty cool Dan, Nice job. Dan. Can you tell
- 31:42Speaker 2: us a little chain Breaker award? I don't know what
- 31:44Speaker 2: that is. I assume it's a bicycle thing. Do you
- 31:49Speaker 2: think you're looking it up for me? I appreciate that
- 31:51Speaker 2: I was not. I was looking up a song. Oh yeah,
- 31:54Speaker 2: I have no idea what that is. I thought you
- 31:58Speaker 2: were doing a little work for us. I realized what
- 32:00Speaker 2: time it was. I was getting a song ready for
- 32:02Speaker 2: the break. Oh I got you, okay, Well get yeah,
- 32:04Speaker 2: get it ready, because well you let me know when
- 32:06Speaker 2: we're ready and we'll go ahead and take a break.
- 32:08Speaker 2: But uh uh. That's a shout out to dam yeah
- 32:10Speaker 2: and the firefighters. Because I didn't realize it was Crusade
- 32:14Speaker 2: for chicken, Chicken, Crusade for children time, and I was
- 32:18Speaker 2: invited a few years back, Tony Vanetti. You know of
- 32:21Speaker 2: another radio station invited me to come in and help
- 32:25Speaker 2: raise money on the tele on WHAS, and I wasn't
- 32:28Speaker 2: able to do it because I was out of town.
- 32:30Speaker 2: And I've always regretted not doing that. I've always wanted
- 32:33Speaker 2: to go back and do it. But then I'm gonna
- 32:35Speaker 2: be out of town this weekend too, so I wouldn't
- 32:37Speaker 2: be able to do it again.
- 32:39Speaker 1: But I well, maybe you know it sounds like you're
- 32:42Speaker 1: just playing on your trips out of town.
- 32:44Speaker 2: No, it's not intentional. No, no, no, it's not intentional.
- 32:47Speaker 2: I promise it's not. If you asked me to do
- 32:50Speaker 2: a portion of Upper Decker, i'd do it in a
- 32:52Speaker 2: New York second, I don't care where I was. I'd call.
- 32:55Speaker 2: I'd phone it in, say I'm doing Upper Decker with
- 32:58Speaker 2: Matthew Childress.
- 33:00Speaker 1: And I'd be like, well, I mean, it wasn't important
- 33:02Speaker 1: enough for you to be in person, so we don't
- 33:03Speaker 1: want that.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Oh geez, okay, I just say, come on, Matthew, let's
- 33:07Speaker 2: let's figure a time that's convenient for me to come
- 33:10Speaker 2: on the Upper Decker live with you in person, and
- 33:13Speaker 2: I'll do it. But I've never been asked. I also
- 33:16Speaker 2: haven't really asked anybody. Oh you haven't see I'm kind
- 33:19Speaker 2: of the same way. I'm getting messages from different people.
- 33:23Speaker 2: It's like, Michael, I know it's summertime. You know, if
- 33:25Speaker 2: you need me to be a guest, we just don't
- 33:27Speaker 2: do guests. Only guess we primarily do are the coaches.
- 33:32Speaker 2: We do it during Derby week. But that's that's unique
- 33:38Speaker 2: because I want a lot of Derby people to come
- 33:40Speaker 2: in there and talk with us. And you know, we
- 33:43Speaker 2: had Jason Worth that one day, who was phenomenal. I
- 33:46Speaker 2: thought he was a lot of fun. But he'd like
- 33:49Speaker 2: to come back on just talk about some baseball and
- 33:51Speaker 2: we might do that sometimes. But no offense to the
- 33:53Speaker 2: people that are offering I very much, sincerely appreciate it.
- 33:57Speaker 2: But yeah, we just don't do guests that often. But anyway,
- 34:00Speaker 2: all right, let's go ahead and take a break. Five
- 34:02Speaker 2: O two four one four fourteen fifty. Uh keep texting
- 34:05Speaker 2: me a little a little slow today, but uh uh
- 34:08Speaker 2: tell me what you'd like to talk about and we'll
- 34:10Speaker 2: talk about it. Okay, stay right there. More just cats
- 34:12Speaker 2: coming right up after this. When el fabo two three
- 35:08Speaker 2: eight four fourteen fifty. You want to call in FABO
- 35:10Speaker 2: two four one four fourteen fifty. You want to text
- 35:12Speaker 2: in on the Whiskey Thief text line, or you can
- 35:14Speaker 2: tweet me at just the Cat Radio. All right, So
- 35:16Speaker 2: the projected NBA Finals, which starts tonight at eight thirty,
- 35:21Speaker 2: has more Big East school players than any other conference.
- 35:28Speaker 2: I was really surprised by that. When I saw that,
- 35:32Speaker 2: I found it interesting. Uh, who do you think is second? Like?
- 35:37Speaker 2: Which team?
- 35:38Speaker 3: Uh?
- 35:38Speaker 2: No, which Concernference SEC SEC exactly? So? Uh, there are
- 35:47Speaker 2: three so it's total of four, uh Big East. So
- 35:51Speaker 2: there's three three alone from Villanova, one Yukon one Saint John's.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Oh that's that's yeah, that's four two u K one
- 36:01Speaker 2: I U one Florida site, Uh of Florida? Where did
- 36:05Speaker 2: that come from? One Florida state? And then obviously Wimby
- 36:09Speaker 2: didn't go to college. But I thought I didn't realize
- 36:13Speaker 2: there was three players from Villanova. Did you.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Anythink Jalen Brunson yep, Josh Hart, yep.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I know that.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Donte de Vincenzo went there, but he's not on the
- 36:30Speaker 1: Knicks anymore.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Who's the third? Michel Bridges, McCall bridges, mccaull. Yeah, I
- 36:35Speaker 2: forgot that he was and then you had uh how
- 36:39Speaker 2: do you say his name? O g Onanobi and I U,
- 36:43Speaker 2: of course you got cat from UK dearon Fox UK Uh,
- 36:47Speaker 2: Stefan Castle Yukon Devin Vassel f s U, Jillian Champagne. Uh,
- 36:52Speaker 2: how do you say his name? Champagne champagnee in Chimpagny
- 36:57Speaker 2: Saint John's and then Wimby. So that that to me,
- 37:01Speaker 2: I love seeing that kind of stuff. I just I
- 37:04Speaker 2: was amazed at all the Villanova players and uh, but
- 37:07Speaker 2: good for them? Uh does that indicate that? Man? If
- 37:11Speaker 2: you uh, if you get all these players in the
- 37:13Speaker 2: NBA Championship, should they won another championship at Villanova? That's
- 37:16Speaker 2: what I always think of, Yeah, I mean probably yeah.
- 37:20Speaker 1: It's It's one where you realize how good of a
- 37:24Speaker 1: coach Jay Wright was because of how many guys he.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Yes, because he was not just a great recruiter, he
- 37:31Speaker 2: was a great coach. I just always I never liked
- 37:34Speaker 2: when UK bragged about how many players they had. It's fun,
- 37:38Speaker 2: it's cool, but they always bragged about how many players
- 37:41Speaker 2: are in the NBA. Well, to me, that always indicated, well,
- 37:44Speaker 2: then you should have made the final four. A lot more.
- 37:47Speaker 2: I just never I never liked that. Look, it's just
- 37:52Speaker 2: to me, it just kind of worked the opposite way.
- 37:55Speaker 1: It's like you're bringing in the cream of the crop
- 37:58Speaker 1: every single season.
- 37:59Speaker 2: You just back to more. Yeah, well, I and you
- 38:02Speaker 2: you definitely should expect more. So if you're going to
- 38:05Speaker 2: get these great players in there just because they're coming
- 38:07Speaker 2: for one year, you should get them. Well, it'd been
- 38:11Speaker 2: nice to have them a little longer, but I guess
- 38:13Speaker 2: that didn't happen. John. Here, everyone can say what they want.
- 38:18Speaker 2: However they were. There were so many that wanted Milan
- 38:22Speaker 2: and were throwing bags of money at him. If they
- 38:25Speaker 2: could have went higher, they would have. Michael, you are right.
- 38:30Speaker 2: The narrative now that Kentucky overpaid is crazy when most
- 38:35Speaker 2: teams were right in the same ballpark. The reality is
- 38:38Speaker 2: Kentucky basketball will be in the thick of things for
- 38:41Speaker 2: sure this season. I believe they will start somewhere between
- 38:45Speaker 2: twentieth to fifteenth in preseason rankings. I'm right there with
- 38:49Speaker 2: you too, John. I think that Rothstein and Borsella have
- 38:56Speaker 2: it kind of right there. I mean, sixteen seventeen eighteen.
- 38:59Speaker 2: I think it's probably probably around eighteen is where I
- 39:01Speaker 2: see UK. Let's be a little conservative there. I don't
- 39:05Speaker 2: think nineteen twenty. I think that's a little too much.
- 39:07Speaker 2: But I think eighteen is kind of the right number.
- 39:10Speaker 2: This is just irritating the heck out of you, and
- 39:12Speaker 2: you were just all the UFL fans were loving that
- 39:15Speaker 2: Mark Pope was just struggling, struggling, struggling, and all of
- 39:18Speaker 2: a sudden, He's put together a pretty good team here.
- 39:22Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say a great team. I love the
- 39:25Speaker 2: smile on your face now means makes me laugh.
- 39:28Speaker 1: It's it. I'm just like I genuinely believe it's just
- 39:31Speaker 1: an average basketball team at best. Like I I, I'm.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Not gonna say great. I'm gonna say pretty good. I
- 39:37Speaker 2: don't say average.
- 39:38Speaker 1: This is the first real grab that he's gotten in
- 39:41Speaker 1: this entire transfer portal. Yeah, and now every fan is turning,
- 39:45Speaker 1: turning their back to how much they wanted Mark Pope
- 39:48Speaker 1: out like one like not even a week like two
- 39:50Speaker 1: days ago, I know. And every time he hosted a
- 39:52Speaker 1: picture of like Mark, what are you doing? You should
- 39:54Speaker 1: be doing this? People were making fun of the whole
- 39:56Speaker 1: Q and as he was doing, they were making you
- 39:59Speaker 1: instead of being your show It's crazy how people turn
- 40:01Speaker 1: a blind eye and things going on, but one good
- 40:04Speaker 1: thing happens, that's a good thing.
- 40:06Speaker 2: And they'll turn into second too. Back on them they will. Yeah.
- 40:09Speaker 1: The one thing I agree with John here is that
- 40:12Speaker 1: one I believe in the air college basketball we're in
- 40:14Speaker 1: now we don't. It's we're overpaying for everyone. Every player
- 40:20Speaker 1: in college basketball is overpaid. That there is no So
- 40:23Speaker 1: I hate when fans come in as soon as you
- 40:24Speaker 1: get somebody and say, well, you obviously overpaid for that guy.
- 40:27Speaker 1: It's not worth this, He's not. I'm like, dude, you
- 40:29Speaker 1: think that the set, the shooting guard for whatever team
- 40:34Speaker 1: is worth five million dollars in college That dude's overpaid.
- 40:37Speaker 1: I don't care if he averaged eighteen points last season,
- 40:39Speaker 1: he's overpaid. These guys are making more than NBA contracts, like,
- 40:43Speaker 1: they're all overpaid. So look, if you got the money,
- 40:47Speaker 1: go out there and get them. I don't care how
- 40:49Speaker 1: what you pay. If you want to spend eleven million dollars.
- 40:53Speaker 2: To get Milan, go get them. Who cares.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say you overpaid because at the end
- 40:56Speaker 1: of the day, every team's going broke. Every team's in
- 40:59Speaker 1: day that they're all paying whatever they can to get
- 41:01Speaker 1: the best roster and try and win. I understand. So yeah,
- 41:05Speaker 1: I agree with you, John. I hate that narrative. I
- 41:07Speaker 1: think it's stupid, like every single team is overpaying.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Would you just played the song by Guns n'
- 41:12Speaker 2: Roses Welcome to the Jungle. What does Axel Rose say
- 41:15Speaker 2: there in the song? If you got the money? Honey?
- 41:17Speaker 2: Of course everybody? If you of l had paid more
- 41:21Speaker 2: money and that they're staying in between six and six
- 41:24Speaker 2: and a half million, if you have al had paid
- 41:26Speaker 2: seven seven and a half, people would be saying, oh,
- 41:30Speaker 2: you paid too much.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it would be the same like wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Wait, you're now making fun of us for paying that
- 41:34Speaker 2: in amount. I'm like you, I think every player is
- 41:39Speaker 2: being way overpaid. I don't know how you stop this,
- 41:44Speaker 2: I really don't. And my concern it's gonna make an
- 41:49Speaker 2: unbelievable adjustment very near down the road. With athletic departments,
- 41:54Speaker 2: it's like, Okay, we can't afford all this. What are
- 41:57Speaker 2: we gonna do now? Because you're gonna get so many
- 41:59Speaker 2: fans out there, it says, okay, man, I've given you
- 42:01Speaker 2: money for years. I'm kind of done giving money. So
- 42:05Speaker 2: I just feel like sometimes with some schools, the the
- 42:09Speaker 2: well's gonna dry up and people are gonna stop giving,
- 42:12Speaker 2: and then what do you do at that point?
- 42:13Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I'm interesting. Right now, louisll is already borrowing,
- 42:16Speaker 1: like they're in a they're in a thirty million dollar
- 42:18Speaker 1: deficit right now, and they're it's not good. They're basically
- 42:21Speaker 1: just saying, look like, we don't play in the SEC
- 42:25Speaker 1: or the Big ten where you have this crazy you know,
- 42:27Speaker 1: football revenue share that goes around, or you know, you
- 42:30Speaker 1: have infinite money.
- 42:31Speaker 2: That's why LSU can spend basically whatever they want.
- 42:33Speaker 1: That's why Holo steaknspend whatever they want, you know what
- 42:34Speaker 1: I mean, Like they don't they don't have to worry
- 42:36Speaker 1: about that stuff. But like if you're in the Big twelve,
- 42:38Speaker 1: if you're in the ACC, if you're in the if
- 42:40Speaker 1: you're in the big mid level, yeah mid levels a strong,
- 42:43Speaker 1: strong phrase, but no, no, no, no.
- 42:45Speaker 2: I'm talking about outside of the ACC Big twelve though,
- 42:50Speaker 2: And if that was even in the.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Mid levels as well, yeah, those have no chance to
- 42:53Speaker 1: spend money at exactly.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I'm not picking on ACC.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I wouldn't I thought you were. I thought you that
- 42:57Speaker 1: You're like, no, no joke, but no, no, no. But
- 43:00Speaker 1: if yeah, if you're one of those, you have no
- 43:01Speaker 1: chance too. You're at the point where now the only
- 43:05Speaker 1: way you fix this is to just absolutely nuke college
- 43:08Speaker 1: basketball and put in so many regulations den I l
- 43:11Speaker 1: that you devalue it so much that the NBA contract
- 43:14Speaker 1: is valued significantly higher, just like it was like four
- 43:17Speaker 1: years ago, whereas players were coming to college just to
- 43:21Speaker 1: get to the NBA, and then they were, but some
- 43:23Speaker 1: of them were skipping out. They were going to the
- 43:24Speaker 1: G League night, they were going overseas, they were doing
- 43:26Speaker 1: all that stuff, and just like, you have to get
- 43:29Speaker 1: back to that level whether you like it or not
- 43:31Speaker 1: or else, the numbers are only going to get higher.
- 43:33Speaker 1: And then you're gonna start seeing these teams who have
- 43:36Speaker 1: been national powerhouses their whole lives just give up and say, well,
- 43:40Speaker 1: we're committing to football only because there's no point to
- 43:43Speaker 1: spend forty million dollars a year on basketball.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Well, who wants to play in the G League anymore? Anyway?
- 43:48Speaker 1: I mean it get if it gets to the NBA faster.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Oh you think so, that's the only partse the travel
- 43:54Speaker 1: is worse. The money is thousand times worse. Why would
- 43:57Speaker 1: you want to go to the G League other than
- 43:59Speaker 1: risk get and get to the NBA quicker.
- 44:02Speaker 2: But you're you're, you're, you're looking at this. I'd rather
- 44:05Speaker 2: make the money.
- 44:05Speaker 1: You're an eighteen year old who has the opportunity. Either
- 44:08Speaker 1: one you're only going to go to college for a year,
- 44:10Speaker 1: or two you're not gonna get agree right. Two you
- 44:12Speaker 1: get to go the You get to go play basketball
- 44:14Speaker 1: for a living around fifty to seventy thousand dollars a year,
- 44:17Speaker 1: which is at that moment you're probably fine with now,
- 44:20Speaker 1: not because you have an IL, but before that was
- 44:22Speaker 1: a good deal. And at the same time you're playing
- 44:25Speaker 1: directly under an NBA organization.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but here's the sad part. This is sad to me.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Who of of the great players in the NBA right
- 44:33Speaker 2: now has a college degree. I bet it's a low
- 44:38Speaker 2: percentage number. I bet it's probably twenty percent. If that.
- 44:42Speaker 2: I kind of feel like that's.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Most of those guys like come back and get a
- 44:45Speaker 1: degree later in life. I like that Rondo just graduate like.
- 44:48Speaker 2: He did a year or so ago. He did, And
- 44:50Speaker 2: of course we all know about Shack coming back and
- 44:55Speaker 2: uh yeah, and that you heard the announcement during the commencement,
- 44:59Speaker 2: I will hate Charles Barkley, which I thought that was hilarious.
- 45:03Speaker 2: I mean, I love him teasing Charles Parkley the way
- 45:05Speaker 2: he does. But but but I'm talking about players that
- 45:09Speaker 2: are going from college into the NBA. How many what
- 45:13Speaker 2: percentage of them have college degrees? And I bet it's
- 45:16Speaker 2: a really low number. Not many. Now they granted, they
- 45:20Speaker 2: do go back and get it. Credit to them for
- 45:22Speaker 2: doing that. And I think it was Rondo that uh
- 45:27Speaker 2: promised his grandmother. No, it was John Wall promise his
- 45:30Speaker 2: grandmother that he would go back and get his degree,
- 45:33Speaker 2: and he did.
- 45:33Speaker 1: I think the NBA just needs to get rid of
- 45:35Speaker 1: the rule that you have to go to college.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Like, well, good luck with that, because you know who's
- 45:39Speaker 2: holding that back, don't you. It's not the NBA. Well,
- 45:41Speaker 2: I know, it's the players union. Yeah, I.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Just just get rid of it. These players are literally
- 45:48Speaker 1: only going to college for one year. It's gaining more
- 45:51Speaker 1: and more every single season. We're seeing more freshman leave.
- 45:53Speaker 1: This is the largest freshman class I think I've ever
- 45:55Speaker 1: seen go to the NBA Draft, and most of them
- 45:57Speaker 1: are all in the first round. It's not worth it.
- 46:01Speaker 1: It's it's it's just it's convoluting the system in the
- 46:04Speaker 1: college basketball. It's costing way too much money to bring
- 46:06Speaker 1: these players in. And then you're also spending if we're
- 46:10Speaker 1: gonna talk about like the system not changing, we're spending
- 46:13Speaker 1: high value transfer portal money on guys who we already
- 46:17Speaker 1: know are only going to play one season, who we'd
- 46:20Speaker 1: never seen play college basketball. May be a dud, may
- 46:22Speaker 1: not work, may not even play, you know, so it's like,
- 46:26Speaker 1: let the just let them go, just let them move on.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Well, if you do that, then you've you've ruined John
- 46:33Speaker 2: Perry's strategy to recruit players at Arkansas. I mean he's
- 46:36Speaker 2: retiring anyway, Oh he is? You know this for a fact.
- 46:39Speaker 2: What is he retiring?
- 46:40Speaker 1: I hear he's retiring tomorrow. Really he told me today.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Oh come on, he texted me good morning beautiful every morning.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Let you know that I'm morning beautiful.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Okay, all right, then, why why do you think he's
- 46:53Speaker 2: going to retire? I don't think he is. I think
- 46:55Speaker 2: he's in it for the long haul. I mean, how
- 46:57Speaker 2: much longer is he? He's got that chicken money coming in?
- 47:00Speaker 1: But he hates like he hates the air of college basketball.
- 47:03Speaker 1: All he does is complain about it. It's not like like, yes,
- 47:06Speaker 1: he didn't like the SEC tournament. I think he loves basketball.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I think he loves coaching, but he like every I'm
- 47:11Speaker 1: I'm honestly tired of after every single game that goes
- 47:15Speaker 1: one way or another, I have to hear a ten
- 47:17Speaker 1: minute video of John cut Prey complain about what's wrong,
- 47:19Speaker 1: like just leave man leeve.
- 47:21Speaker 2: I don't understand why he doesn't go try and coach
- 47:24Speaker 2: at the NBA or something else again. I know he
- 47:27Speaker 2: wants to go back to the NBA one more time
- 47:28Speaker 2: and give it a try. I don't think he'll succeed,
- 47:30Speaker 2: but he wants to try.
- 47:31Speaker 3: So.
- 47:32Speaker 2: All right, we got our two coming right up. When
- 47:34Speaker 2: we come back, we're gonna talk about some UK football news.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Stay right there. A lot more just Cats coming right up.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Now.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 48:05Speaker 2: All right now, with number two. If you want to
- 48:09Speaker 2: give call fable two three four fourteen fifty, or if
- 48:11Speaker 2: you want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line,
- 48:13Speaker 2: you can do that five two four one four fourteen
- 48:15Speaker 2: to fifty, or you can tweet me at just scat radio.
- 48:19Speaker 2: So I do want to talk about a little bit
- 48:21Speaker 2: about UK football. Last weekend, UK quarterback commit Jake Nawrott
- 48:28Speaker 2: went to Los Angeles and he competed in the Elite
- 48:33Speaker 2: eleven Finals camp. I don't know if you've seen this
- 48:35Speaker 2: or not, but already considered the second best quarterback and
- 48:41Speaker 2: twenty seventh best player overall in the class of twenty seven,
- 48:46Speaker 2: and among the twenty quarterbacks that he was competing against,
- 48:51Speaker 2: naw Rott was considered one of the top performers out
- 48:55Speaker 2: of these top twenty quarterbacks. Uh, the director of scouting
- 49:00Speaker 2: rankings for Rivals, pointed out that his impressive accuracy in
- 49:05Speaker 2: passing and his footwork were among the big things that
- 49:09Speaker 2: stuck out and really excited about what potential he can
- 49:13Speaker 2: bring to UK football. I mean, it's fun when you
- 49:18Speaker 2: see that kind of stuff. It's fun when you see
- 49:23Speaker 2: UK football in a completely different light. And I just
- 49:28Speaker 2: you know, to me, the biggest struggle Kentucky football has
- 49:33Speaker 2: had for a number of years is the quarterback position.
- 49:38Speaker 2: It just they've never had a really strong competitive player.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Now granted they've had competitive players, but not ones they
- 49:47Speaker 2: were athletes. Is how I define them. If you asked
- 49:50Speaker 2: me about like, I know a number of you gonna say, Michael,
- 49:54Speaker 2: what about Will Levis? Well, Will Levis was a great athlete.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Did I think he was a great quesquarterback? Let me
- 50:01Speaker 2: ask you before I answer that question. Do you think
- 50:05Speaker 2: within the past ten years Kentucky has had a dominating
- 50:10Speaker 2: quarterback in football? No?
- 50:16Speaker 1: I think Will Levis was a great quarterback. I mean
- 50:18Speaker 1: obviously a first round pick.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Like I just asked you and you said no. Now,
- 50:21Speaker 2: you just said he's a great quarterback.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Well, I like a great quarterback is like in college football. Like,
- 50:27Speaker 1: I think Will Levis was a great quarterback. I don't
- 50:30Speaker 1: think you said dominating. I don't think k has had
- 50:32Speaker 1: a dominating quarterback in college fotball.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Now, yeah, I think Will Levis was a good quarterback.
- 50:37Speaker 2: I think he was a great athlete. I can see that.
- 50:40Speaker 2: I just think he was a good quarterback. I just
- 50:44Speaker 2: I don't think he was anything that could have taken
- 50:48Speaker 2: us to the Promised Land. But he did get us
- 50:51Speaker 2: a ten one season. That's been nicked. But I just
- 50:54Speaker 2: feel like I'm hoping Minschi can do that. They're saying
- 50:59Speaker 2: a lot of great things about him, in the spring
- 51:01Speaker 2: practice and how he's improved quite a bit. You know,
- 51:04Speaker 2: a lot of the Notre Dame fans of are wishing
- 51:08Speaker 2: him the best of luck and say, what a great
- 51:10Speaker 2: get that the University of Kentucky got. Of course, you
- 51:13Speaker 2: got naw Rock coming in next year, and you think, Okay,
- 51:18Speaker 2: maybe there is a concerted effort for Kentucky by will
- 51:22Speaker 2: Stein to get dominating quarterbacks, at least potentially dominating quarterbacks.
- 51:27Speaker 2: It'll be a long time before we see that, if not,
- 51:30Speaker 2: Writ's going to be that kind of quarterback or not.
- 51:31Speaker 2: But when you see him getting compared and going to
- 51:33Speaker 2: these different camps across the country, and that's all they're
- 51:36Speaker 2: talking about is accuracy and his footwork. Those are the
- 51:39Speaker 2: two keys with a quarterback, isn't it.
- 51:42Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I think so. My biggest thing with
- 51:45Speaker 1: quarterbacks personally is their decision making. I feel like we
- 51:48Speaker 1: especially saying in college football, there's so much you know,
- 51:51Speaker 1: bullitzing going on the offensive. It's just like college baseball, right,
- 51:55Speaker 1: College baseball is fun because some of the areas of
- 51:58Speaker 1: baseball are are more poor of the MLB, right, Like,
- 52:01Speaker 1: you don't have the greatest pitchers in the country, it's
- 52:04Speaker 1: all bats, right, like it's all power hitters, right, So
- 52:06Speaker 1: you get there's a lot more runs score in college baseball,
- 52:09Speaker 1: just like in college football. You know, not everybody is
- 52:12Speaker 1: an NFL d lineman. Everybody is an NFL lineman. So
- 52:15Speaker 1: that gets a lot more pressure on these quarterbacks who
- 52:18Speaker 1: might not have a career after college of football. So
- 52:21Speaker 1: for me, yeah, athleticism and decision making as well as
- 52:26Speaker 1: accuracy or probably my top three quarterback yeah, and then
- 52:30Speaker 1: speed after that. But I think you're right.
- 52:32Speaker 2: I think a lot of the NFL scouts put how
- 52:36Speaker 2: quick they are to react to whatever situations because you know,
- 52:40Speaker 2: you go from high school to college is one speed,
- 52:46Speaker 2: but then you go from college to the NFL is
- 52:51Speaker 2: speed on steroids, no pun intended, But it's amazing how
- 52:57Speaker 2: much faster speed is going from college to professional sports.
- 53:01Speaker 2: I mean, just going to You can't take it for granted.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I mean when you go down on the field of
- 53:08Speaker 2: the NFL stadium and you see the linemen that are
- 53:12Speaker 2: three hundred pounds running just as fast as probably some
- 53:17Speaker 2: wide receiver be a little bit of an exaggeration in college,
- 53:20Speaker 2: but when they are running just as fast as a
- 53:22Speaker 2: lot of players in college football. It's amazing how fast
- 53:26Speaker 2: those guys are.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, like I remember when I was in
- 53:30Speaker 1: high school, I saw like a statistic or whatever.
- 53:33Speaker 2: I forgot what it was.
- 53:33Speaker 1: It was like ten percent of students in high school
- 53:37Speaker 1: play play high school sports. One percent of those athletes, Like,
- 53:40Speaker 1: of just those ten percent go on to play college sports,
- 53:44Speaker 1: point one of those go on to play or like
- 53:47Speaker 1: what is it, like point zero one of those go
- 53:49Speaker 1: on to play the NFL. So it's like you could
- 53:52Speaker 1: look at yourself as an athlete all your life, but yeah,
- 53:54Speaker 1: the jump between college athletics and professional athletics is bigger
- 53:58Speaker 1: than any jump that could possibly think. That's why every
- 53:59Speaker 1: player has a welcome to the MLB, Welcome to the NFL,
- 54:03Speaker 1: Welcome to the NHL. Story of like what their first
- 54:05Speaker 1: their first hit or their first you know, major strikeout
- 54:08Speaker 1: where they just realized they were so outclassed by a
- 54:11Speaker 1: veteran or something, they really understood what the difference was.
- 54:14Speaker 1: So we're getting the point where I feel like that
- 54:17Speaker 1: gap is closing a little bit between college and football
- 54:22Speaker 1: because of the Nile situation, I feel like it's a
- 54:25Speaker 1: little bit more competitive. You're seeing guys come back and
- 54:27Speaker 1: play for a little bit longer now because of the
- 54:29Speaker 1: money aspect, right, So players are going to league a
- 54:32Speaker 1: little bit more experienced. But at the end of the day, yeah,
- 54:38Speaker 1: the NFL, the NBLB and NHL, NBA, they're always gonna
- 54:42Speaker 1: trump them in terms of talent. I mean, you've got
- 54:44Speaker 1: the point zero one percent talent on every single team
- 54:46Speaker 1: you're playing basically the best college team in the world
- 54:49Speaker 1: every single night.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Wasn't that a commercial by the NCAA. What that the
- 54:54Speaker 2: I think they gave the sets out actually the percentages
- 54:59Speaker 2: of athletes going to play professionally because you might as
- 55:03Speaker 2: well just go ahead and get your degree. It was
- 55:04Speaker 2: all about getting your college degree, which I always probably
- 55:07Speaker 2: where I saw it that it was a long time ago. Yeah.
- 55:09Speaker 2: By the way, Randall Cobb, former UK football great, named
- 55:13Speaker 2: to the twenty twenty seven College Football Hall of Fame ballot.
- 55:18Speaker 2: He's one of eighty players and nine coaches that are
- 55:21Speaker 2: amongst the ones that will be there, so hopefully, hopefully
- 55:28Speaker 2: he can get into the Hall of Fame. That's one player.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I don't remember if Wesley Woodyard is a part of
- 55:38Speaker 2: that or not as of yet, but you know, from
- 55:40Speaker 2: that team that era with Rich Brooks as the head coach. Man,
- 55:44Speaker 2: I'd love to see Randall Cobbs stands out enough so
- 55:48Speaker 2: he should be a Hall of Fame player in the
- 55:49Speaker 2: College Football Hall of Fame, shouldn't he?
- 55:52Speaker 1: I mean off of eye test, Yes, I believe so.
- 55:54Speaker 1: I'm right now I'm pulling up his career stats because
- 55:56Speaker 1: I don't know them. I don't know what the crew
- 55:57Speaker 1: stats worried you.
- 55:58Speaker 2: I don't. I don't have a memorized but hopefully he does.
- 56:02Speaker 2: I'm rooting for Randall Cobb. I was always huge fan
- 56:05Speaker 2: of his. Nice young man. You know. The only only
- 56:08Speaker 2: unfortunate part is he played for the wrong team in
- 56:10Speaker 2: the NFL. I mean, I'm just not a I'm not
- 56:12Speaker 2: a Packers fan. He he ever or sorry for his
- 56:15Speaker 2: entire career.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Yeah, he had seven six hundred and twenty four yards
- 56:19Speaker 1: of six hundred and thirty receptions, fifty four touchdowns. He
- 56:23Speaker 1: averaged twelve point one yards per reception.
- 56:27Speaker 2: That's pretty good, isn't it.
- 56:28Speaker 1: That's pretty good. I can't remember he has a Super Bowl,
- 56:30Speaker 1: doesn't he.
- 56:32Speaker 2: I don't think he just has one. I think he
- 56:34Speaker 2: has a couple of days. I can't remember. Yeah, I
- 56:36Speaker 2: don't remember that either. But uh, he only had one
- 56:39Speaker 2: Pro Bowl. Really, I didn't know that. Wow, okay, maybe
- 56:46Speaker 2: he's not all of it. Well that we're talking college.
- 56:50Speaker 2: Now we're not talking enough. Oh you're talking about college. No,
- 56:53Speaker 2: not NFL. This is college Hall of Fame.
- 56:56Speaker 1: I was looking at okay, no, no, no, no, I
- 56:58Speaker 1: was looking at the NFL stats.
- 56:59Speaker 2: I don't I don't want to pick on him, but
- 57:01Speaker 2: I don't know if he has the NFL sets to
- 57:03Speaker 2: make the NFL Hall of Fame.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's what I was. Okay, No, I'm talking college. Yeah,
- 57:08Speaker 1: he has a really good career, but I don't think that.
- 57:10Speaker 2: Yes, I thought this was interesting. Former MLB first round
- 57:15Speaker 2: pick in twenty eighteen for the Angels, Jordan Adam played
- 57:20Speaker 2: played his first game. He played in August of twenty
- 57:23Speaker 2: twenty three, so almost three years ago. Played in twenty
- 57:27Speaker 2: eight games for the Angels, and by the way, he's
- 57:33Speaker 2: a former four star wide receiver. He now plans to
- 57:38Speaker 2: enroll at SMU and play football at the age of
- 57:42Speaker 2: twenty six years old. Oh yes, I did. Did you
- 57:45Speaker 2: see this? I've seen this. Yes, I saw this, and
- 57:47Speaker 2: I'm like, man, sports are crazy today.
- 57:51Speaker 1: There's also a guy who I think is either going
- 57:55Speaker 1: to UCLA this year or leaving UCLA. Yeah, and he
- 57:59Speaker 1: like either did enter the transfer portal early enough, so
- 58:03Speaker 1: he's transferring as a track and field athlete, but he's
- 58:05Speaker 1: going to play football.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Mine really Yeah, Okay, you gotta call him out on this.
- 58:14Speaker 1: I don't know what his name is. I forgot who
- 58:15Speaker 1: was yeah two weeks ago.
- 58:16Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 58:18Speaker 1: I mean, I mean it's it's I don't like it either.
- 58:21Speaker 1: It's a way around the system. Technically you can do that,
- 58:24Speaker 1: because once you get on campus, you can technically do
- 58:26Speaker 1: whatever you want.
- 58:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but clearly he's doing it. Well, yeah, only for football.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Well I saw this. It's like, dude, you're you're you're
- 58:36Speaker 2: twenty six years old. Should you be going back to
- 58:38Speaker 2: college and playing football? What's the plan at that point?
- 58:42Speaker 2: He's going to play for what one or two years?
- 58:45Speaker 2: Is any by the Is there any NFL team out
- 58:49Speaker 2: there that's going to pick him up at the age
- 58:50Speaker 2: of twenty seven or twenty eight?
- 58:52Speaker 1: I mean it really depends, really you think so? Yeah,
- 58:56Speaker 1: I mean at least wow now more now that's a
- 59:01Speaker 1: lot less likely like two years ago. You know, I
- 59:03Speaker 1: feel like we had twenty six twenty seven year olds
- 59:05Speaker 1: walking the earth all over place in college sports, you
- 59:08Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like, yes, Tyler Shuck being one
- 59:10Speaker 1: of them. It's one where some of those guys have
- 59:14Speaker 1: more experience and there's a little bit, but they also
- 59:15Speaker 1: have played that whole time. You know, they've been on
- 59:18Speaker 1: a team that whole time. I don't agree with it.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Most of these guys who are capable of doing this
- 59:22Speaker 1: are coming back to do it just to finally, just
- 59:25Speaker 1: to get a little bit of money before they have
- 59:26Speaker 1: to finally se that's what it is. Goes up shop. Yeah,
- 59:29Speaker 1: which I mean, I get it. If I had the opportunity,
- 59:31Speaker 1: i'd do it too. But with the five and five
- 59:34Speaker 1: year old coming into place next season, or at least
- 59:36Speaker 1: what it looks like it should it should be, I
- 59:39Speaker 1: am glad to see that won't happen anymore.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you as well. I mean, we've got
- 59:45Speaker 2: to move on. We can't just be playing sports until
- 59:47Speaker 2: we're thirty five, forty years old. And it's just because
- 59:51Speaker 2: he's I don't know if he thinks he's gonna make
- 59:54Speaker 2: the NFL. It might be that he's just thinking, Okay,
- 59:58Speaker 2: this is my way to get a million dollars before
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I stopped playing that way, or I have to go
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: get a real job. I mean, because if he was good,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: don't you think an NFL scout will say, why don't
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: you come try out for us?
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: If you're telling me so my somebody I knew looked
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: at me and was like, hey man, you are definitely
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: talent enough to at least get on a college roster.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I don't care if you're forty nine. You can play
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: for one year make two million dollars.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: I will. I'll break both my legs out there. Would
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: you really like? That?
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Is like, if you use that money right, you could
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: use that for a lifetime. You couldn't, like you could
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: you could invest it correctly. You could find an account
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: and figure that stuff out. So yeah, I do not
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: blame the kid for doing it. I guess not kid,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: he's twenty six years old. I don't blame the grown
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: tax paying citizen for doing it because I do the
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: same thing.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: But that doesn't mean I have to agree with it either.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: I don't like, well, first round picks for baseball they
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: get a nice check right when they sign. I mean,
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: I imagine, so yeah, yeah, so he signed with the Angels,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: one of the worst mL BE teams out there right now.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: But uh, and now he's looking at Okay, he's still
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: under thirty twenty six years old. Yes, if he signed
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: for a million or two and he didn't touch that
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: money until he was like fifty sixty years old, he's
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: made some nice money. You're exactly correct, but you cannot
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: touch it now.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Think about it this way, all right, think about that,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: not even the top tier athletes maybe like middle of
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: not a little bit above middle of the crop. We'll say,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: the top twenty five best college basketball players in the
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: trans reportal this year, right, transportal this year was a
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: little bit softer.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: There wasn't as many big hits as there were last season.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: You're talking football or yeah, football, all right, those people
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: are getting like five to six million dollars for one season. Yes,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: imagine you were twenty five. Somebody was like, I'll pay
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: you six million dollars to play one year of college football.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Here I do it in a second.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: And they said, look, you're gonna get hit a thousand
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: times in this game. I said, you know what, whatever
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: happens to me, I got the money to get it fixed.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Let's go do a big dog. I'm coming out there.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I'm going like, these kids have so much money. They
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: don't have to worry about what happens later in life.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: They don't have to worry about making the NBA or
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: the NFL. They don't have to worry about Okay, well
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: my college career is over, and now I have to
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: find a job.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Now I have to do this. I have to I
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: have to actually get a degree. I have to.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I have to go find a career. This is more
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: beneficial for the middle of the crop athlete in college
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: basketball or college football, in any college sport than it
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: is for the ones that are probably guarantee you going
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: to know the process of point. Those people don't need it.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: You have genuine guys. The joke before was, oh, well,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: you know, Louisville this week is playing against a bunch
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: of guys who're gonna have to be accountants next.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Year when they graduate.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: You know, Oh, that's an accountant with a six million
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: dollar paycheck. He's not gonna need an accountant. He if he
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: has an account that man's got generational wealth for us
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: of his life. It is crazy to believe the situation
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: that we're in. How much money these guys really make Yeah.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I couldn't agree more. And hopefully vast majority of them
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: are wise with the money. That's the part that worries me.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: They're gonna do that whole thirty for thirty and go broke.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: It's like, hopefully there are people linked to them that
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: will say, no, this is what we're gonna do with
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: the money, and you can think me later, because when
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: you retire, you'll have all this money saved. Instead of
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: going out and buying fancy cars and houses and an
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: entourage and all that crap. You don't need all that stuff.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Put the money somewhere where it will work for you,
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: and go get a job.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I just only don't think that stuff will happen as
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: much anymore as it used to. For what's that, like
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: these guys going broke at such a young age like
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: and stuff.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Like that, I think it'll happen even more at a
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: rapid fashion.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: I'm going to disagree with you on this. For the
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: oa these I hope you're right. These guys have like
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: full camps with them coming out of high school. Now
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: they have agents, they have their family, they have other
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: members behind them, like they they have financial advisors at
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: this point to understand to write these contracts, they have
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: lawyers all over the place. I think that these that's where.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: All the money's going to, all those people you just named.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: But I think because they have all these people, I
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: would I'm just imagining they also have like the financial
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: aspect down to a pad of like, Okay, we're gonna
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: hire these people to take care of this for me. Yeah,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: at a younger age than like this eighteen year old
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: just signed a twenty million dollar baseball contract.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: Now he has to figure out what to do with
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: the type stuff anymore. Yeah. Uh. College football twenty seven
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: covers revealed yesterday, with Kiwan Lacy, Malachai, Tony Dante Moore
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: along with Kirk Signetti headlining the deluxe edition. Did you
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: like that now? I just never dreamed there would be
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: an IU coach on the cover of this game. Yeah.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: I mean he deserves it. Yeah, he does deserve it.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: Did you see the picture of him though? It's kind of.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a weird. It's a weird picture. I don't Yeah,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: it's not a very Kurt Signetti picture.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: No it's not. And I just like, oh boy, that's
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: that's nothing. Did you like who was put on the
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: CFB twenty seven. I mean, I like the Malakatni's on there.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: I think they deserve to be on there. Does he
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Kawan Lacy? I like that one. Dante Moore? I don't
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: really care for it? Why not?
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: I mean, he's a great quarterback. I was surprised to
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: him come back. He was arguably going to be like
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: a top five pick in the draft, right I It's
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: gonna be kind of weird saying this, but I think
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: without them having will Stein, I think he takes a
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: really big backwards step.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: So it's an interesting show. You really just said that.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: It's an interesting decision to see will Stein's kind of
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: bread butter quarterback grace the college football cover without him
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: on it, or like without him being in the game
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: with him anymore.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I get I get what you're saying. Uh but
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: uh oh. I would really love to know if a
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: lot of the UFL fan basis worried about this whole
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: will Stein thing, especially how successful he's been in recruiting.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: Does it? Does it you feel like it makes him
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: a little nervous that UK football might be back.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I mean probably a little bit. I mean definitely, like
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: you obviously.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: Because especially since he's one of the y'all's own, I mean,
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: he was a starting quarterback. That that's the weird part
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: about this.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Yes, is from people that I know and friends I
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: have and other contacts that I have, they've all said
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: the same thing that the worst part about it is
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: like I want to hate the guy, but I can't.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Like I wish, like, like I've said this before, I
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: wish will Stein in this first say something would say something, yeah,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: throw the l's down, which though I've said just like
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: that stuff doesn't really matter to me, uh huh, but
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: I wish he would do it so that I could
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: rivalry against Wilson. I can't like he's he was he
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: was the preliminary, the preliminary quarterback during like some of
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: like when I was growing up, like I watched will
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Stein throw touchdowns for a little or four seasons. Right,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: So yeah, it's one where it is a very weird situation.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Now at some point I will come to dislike him
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: because what he'll do is he'll beat Jeff Brohm at
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: some point, you know what I mean, Like it will.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: And that'll make you dislike him just because he beats
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Jeff brom.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Yeah, just because I'm a little fan, Like, once he
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: beats my favorite team, like, I'm gonna just like him.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Because I have a problem with disliking Jeff Brohm. I'm
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: to a point where I really really like Jeff Brown.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: I don't mean like, and I hate to say that
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I like the guy. I don't mean I'll dislike will
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Stein as a person, ye like, but I'll get in.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: I will get into the rivalry mode once he does that.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Well really really okay? All right then, so and that's
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: okay to be in that rivalry mode. The only time
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: I don't like the rivalries is when there's just pure
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: hatred for each other. I don't like that, and that
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: makes it uncomfortable. That takes the fun away. Like I
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: love teasing one of my buddies, but he doesn't like teasing,
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: so I stopped. But then the moment he starts teasing
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: about UK, it's like, well wait a minute now, I
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: just I just he dislikes UK so much it makes
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: me uncomfortable. Where I don't dislike U of L that much.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: I mean, I don't want them to win, but I don't.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: I don't. There's no hatred in me about it. That's
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: the part I don't like. I wish pete. That's when
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: I was talking to somebody a couple of days ago,
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: and I thought the greatest thing for the uk U
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: of L rivalry was when Joby Hall and Denny Crumb
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: did a show and it made people realize that even
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: though you have a rival, you can still be friends
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: with those rivals. And I loved that. I thought it
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: taught a lot of the fan base how to tolerate
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: each other and like each other. And I miss those days.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: But uh, anyway, we gotta take a break. Fible two
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: three eight four fourteen fifty. You want to call Fable
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: two four to one four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: text me, I'll get you to your text as soon
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: as we get back. But uh, Also, man, there is
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: a cool contests in Major League Baseball right now. I
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: want to win it. I think there's a number of
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: you with that would like to win. We'll talk about that.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: And then, oh boy, there was a whole Jose canseco
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: incident last night. We'll talk about that as well. Stay
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: right there, just the Cats coming right back swinging.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: See stop playing should be half singing sounds as the
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: big jazz in the High School.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Dances who was right in the bay? But I love
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: this version. This person is so much better than the
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: regular one. Oh it is really I don't know if
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: I'd go that far, but I do love that version.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Of course, that that who is the rap band that's
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: singing with Aerosmith? That's right run DMC. And to me,
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: they saved Aerosmith's career by doing that song because that
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: brought them back and brought them back to do a
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: whole bunch of new albums, songs and everything else. And
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: I just are you're not an air Aerosmith fan. I
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: don't know a lot about it. Like I know, like
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: their popular songs, but I don't listen to a lot
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: of them. Jane's Got a Gun That's probably one of
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: my all time favorite songs. Right there, I love it.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: Do you know the song I'm talking about? The video
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: was even better if I heard it? Probably, Yeah, Alicia
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Silverstone was in the video. Oh okay, don't get me started.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: One person. Let's see here. Josh checks it out. Milan
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: is a good get. But do we know what Pope
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: can do with him? I think that's a great question.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Will he play him for ten minutes?
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: I have.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Let's not forget how much Pope has mismanaged actually well
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: playing time for most of the players on the last
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: two year's rosters. I think that's a fair question right there.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: I think I think more so this past year there
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: were a lot of questions with substitutions and players play
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: time and all that kind of stuff. I don't know
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: if I would question it from the first year. Just
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: last year was just difficult and and a lot of
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: it Josh had to do with, you know, player injury too,
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: so that kind of messed with how the roster was
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: gonna work anyway. So I think I can go both ways.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: You know, I can support Mark Pope one hand on
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: his decision making last year. On the other hand, it's like,
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: oh that was interesting. So I just I look at that,
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: and I think I can go both ways with that.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: So one person texted out, Kentucky has a way more
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: versatile roster than U of L. Guards are interchangeable, Fords
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: are interchangeable. Also, no one knows how good Hawthorne and
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: Diey are better roster, So.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: You're saying that they're better because you don't know if
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Hawthorne is gonna be good.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Yeah, probably, So interesting take. I like to know what
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: my players are going. Oh, come on, now is the
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: UK show? Be careful, I'm just making jokes. Okay, all right,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: as long as you're making a joke now. Not sure
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: if you listen to Will Stein's interview with Mike Rutherford's
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: radio uh doppeldanger Jim Rome on his radio show yet?
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: But he shouted out Trinity High School and said Kenny
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: minshe reminded him of Teddy Bridgewater, whoa all right? Interesting? Uh?
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: Is is uh Mike Rutherford's doppelganger Jim Rome? Do they
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: look I don't think they look alike? Do they?
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: I don't know if I've like, like i've listened to
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Jim Rome. I actually don't think I've ever seen a
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: picture of.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Oh, come on, I.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Least I'm not at least I've never went out of
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: my way and looked up a picture of Jim Rome.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: You've never seen?
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: Oh no, wait he's in Uh he's in what's the
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: longest yard?
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Right? He's the commentator? Yes, yes, okay, I have seen. Okay,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: not only that, but also he has that famous video
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: with Chris evert or Ever the quarterback for the Rams
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: years ago, and they supposedly got into a fight in studio.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Did you never see that? Okay? Maybe? Well that was
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: Jim Rome. Uh yeah, I like that. He was on
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: Jim Rome Show and he gave a shout at Trinity
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: High School. I did not I did not see the
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: interview yet, and I didn't see what he said about
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: comparing Kenny Minchie to Teddy Bridgewater. How do you like that?
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: Because I will say, of the quarterbacks that you have
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: all had, you're gonna this is gonna be a crazy
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: take for you, Okay, and I'm sorry it's a crazy take,
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: but I always thought Bridgewater.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: Was better than that other guy. Well, I already know
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: why you say that, Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson, I'll give
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: you a crazy take as well. Tay Bridgemar is my
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: favorite quarterback that has been since I've been a love
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: really yeah, he's my favorite little quarterback.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: See. I wanted him to come to Tampa Bay and
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: be the quarterback there. He would have been good.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Would be when he was at the Vikings before he
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: got hurt, he was really good. He took him to
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: the playoff game and I thought, however long, but he.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: Just didn't have a great career. I mean, he always
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: kind of got stuck. I thought New Orleans he would
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: have been a great quarterback there, but then the quarterback
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: said I'm going to stay a little longer and then
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: screwed up bridge Water. I've always thought he was the
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: best U of L quarterback more and I'm not gonna
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: say a bunch more than Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson's exciting.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: That's what's unique about him because he scrambles. But I thought, Okay,
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: I'm gonna the dude's a two time MVP winner. Yeah,
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: and I mean Cooper Bowls as he won a two times?
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: I mean Super Bowls? Has he won none? Exactly? The
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: two times he was listening to answer, he was o.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: But by fans as well as the best player in
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: Fish football.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: I'm just saying, you answered my question is scrambles. Terry
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Bridgewater is far better Teddy, not Terry Fridge. I'll get
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: it right. What we're personal friends now, Rutherford sounds like Rome.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: He doesn't look like Rome. Rome was in space, yam Oh,
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: I didn't know Rome was in space. Jim, I didn't
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: realize they sounded alike. I need to go listen to
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: Mike brouther Ford a little more and do the comparison.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: I can hear Jim Rome right now. I can't hear
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Mike Brutherford talking. I know you have, but they sound alike.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Maybe they do, and I just haven't picked up that's
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: trum Ohio got Yeah, I think that's a funny one.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: One person said, I'm just glad Will Levis's uh. Will
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Levis could stay standing on the pocket longer at UK
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: than he could stay standing in other aspects of his life.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: Oh boy, oh my gosh. That that story kind of
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: died quickly, didn't it.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: They've it's been coming in droves on the brother Show.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Pass. Oh, it has been.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Oh okay, so they're doing a little rivalry thing there
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: is that what they're doing. Well, I don't even know
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: if Will Levis counts to that anymore. That was long
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: enough away. I mean, also all that came out when
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: he was in the NFL. Right, Gia Duddy his girlfriend,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: she's she's yeah, she's she's pretty. One person said, Rich
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Brooks still should have given Cob the ball at the
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: gold line, so UK would have beaten Tennessee at Commonwealth. Man,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: I've said that a few times on the show. The
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: one time I had Rich Brooks on my radio show
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: at the other station, and I asked that question.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: He gave me the death look like you've never seen.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: Fire was coming out of his eyes and burning my brain.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: So yeah, and you're right, Texter, he should have given Cobb.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: We why he took Randall Cobb out of that game
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: versus Tennessee. I still think Rich Brooks is even asking
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: that question, why did I do that? Chris Winky was
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: twenty eight when he won the Heisman? Is that true?
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: You're gonna look it up, okay, Jim Everett, it wasn't
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: Chris Everett, thank you. He was getting upset because Rome
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: kept calling him Chris or Chrissy because he said he
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: was soft. And you remember Chris Everett. Chrissy Everett was
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: a tennis player, very attractive tennis player. And yeah, Jim
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Rome kept calling Jim Everett the former quarterback from the Rams.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Chris Everett was twenty eight years old? Was he really
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: Chris Weinke was twenty eight? Wow? Nice nice text there, Texter.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: I just did not know that. So interesting. That's when
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: I of the text line. All right, I do want
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: to talk about this. I don't know if you saw
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: it or not. But there is a contest going on
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: right now and if you join it, it's it's called
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: the MFL MLB Offering Sweepstakes where you can win a
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: trip or trips to all thirty MLB parks called the
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Journey to thirty sweep Stakes. Have you seen this? This
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: is an amazing contest, by the way, And I will
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: have to say it's a contest. I signed up for it.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: I didn't want to talk about it on the radiocause
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: I don't want people to sign it up for it.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: I will. I want to win this. Would you ever
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: be interested in visiting all thirty ballparks of Major League Baseball? Yes?
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: Would you be interested in visiting all NFL stadiums?
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: No?
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: Would you all right? Would you be interested in stadiums?
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: No?
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Why what is it about baseball? Because I'm the same way.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: What is it about baseball that we want to go
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: to their venues?
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Because baseball has a history of like building their part
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: their guess why they're called parks. They're built within the cities,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: and they always have like great skylines. There's always like
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: an aesthetic too.
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: That's a great point.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I genuinely believe, like, yes, baseball is a sport. I'm
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: not arguing that, but baseball is more of like an experience,
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like it's not like like
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: when I go to I guess I'm totally all experiences,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: but like when I go to a basketball game, Yeah,
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: the number one thing I'm locked in on are the
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: players and what's going on in the game, the actual game.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: In baseball, there's so much downtime. It's a long game.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: There's a lot of conversation between you and friends going on.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: It's not a sport you have to like really lock
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: into the whole time. A lot of people like to
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: walk the concourse and you know, check out the stadium.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: It's a very aesthetic sport, you know what I mean.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: Like it it?
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: So, yes, I'd be more inclined to go see every
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: MLB stadium or park or whatever rather than football, basketball,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: or like hockey or something.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: All right, So which stadium of baseball would you want
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: to go to? First?
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: Mmm?
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: Probably Dodger Stadium. Oh that's a great one.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: I I would say, like Yankee Stadium. Yeah, like it
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: it's the newer one, now, yeah, if it was the
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: older one, to be different.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: That's what I would think. Yeah, so yeah, Dodger Stadium
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: is probably my thick. Yeah, I've been to Dodger Stadium.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: I've been well, I the iconic stadiums have already been
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: to and so outside of that and to me, the
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: icon and you correct me if I'm wrong? Are you?
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: You add one if you want to, Matthew, But I
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: think of the iconic stadiums in Major League Baseball. You
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: got the Dodgers, You've got Red Sox, somewhat, the Yankees,
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: I think, uh in Wrigley Field, Cubs. I would add
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: a is it Bush?
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Is that the the Saint Louis Cardinals. Yes, I think
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: they're on there. And I'll add PNC Park, the Pitsfurgh Pirates.
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: Oh would you really?
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I went to Pirate. I went there last summer. That
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: place is gorgeous.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Is it really is?
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: A like I remember sitting in my seat and thinking
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: the like the backdrop of that stadium, like you know
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: out towards you know, center field literally looks like it's
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: a green screen. It's like two perfect like it's it's
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: exactly set up to where like the bridge covers like
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: the out the outskirts of left field, and then the
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: backgrounds just far enough the city is out is like
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: not like you'd have to like really sit there and
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: experience it to understand. It looks fake, like it looks
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: like it's not real. How perfect it looks. Yes, I'd
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: put VNC Park up there. Okay, interesting maybe not in
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: like historically, but like if we're talking right now, like
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: like renovated stadiums i'd pick.
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: I'd picked Camden. Which one's that one? Baltimore Orioles? Yeah,
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: I like that one. Uh. And I'd like to go
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: see the Nationals Ballpark park in Washington. I've been there
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: one time. It's nice.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: Have you really We went when I was in eighth grade,
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: We took a trip to Washington, DC and we had
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: one day off in there.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: We went and saw it as Yeah. Uh, those would
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: be the two that probably probably probably picked first, Probably
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: the Giants after that, because I haven't been to their
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: new I went to Candlestick that was pretty iconic. But yeah,
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: they keep changing him so much. I guess Chase Stadium
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: is still there, but they don't the Mets don't play
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: there anymore, so they now have a new Bets Bar
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Park or No, they do play at Shase Stadium, don't they.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: I don't remember which it is. I know the Yankee
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: Stadium is new. The old park was in the U
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: is now a parking lot for the new Yankee Stadium.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: That's a bummer. I don't care about the White Sox.
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: I've been to their stadium before, but would.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: You count the roads well, I mean it's the original
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: baseball team. They are like Opening Day is like the
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: biggest in Cincinnati.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: I've always wanted to go to Opening Day one time
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: in Cincinna. I have never done that. But Great American Ballpark,
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: it's not it's Ebott's Field. I think it was the
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: original field. I never wins, but I always went to Riverfront.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: That's where I remember going. That was a horrible stadium
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: because you know it was between It was a baseball
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: slash football stadium. Those were terrible stadiums. By the way.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Was that the which one was where the Raiders played
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: in the A's played What was that stadium called?
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: Oh, I don't remember what that was.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: That was a horrible that was Luckily I couldn't see
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: it because they left it.
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: Mum.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: Maybe because like when the Raiders would play, I'm like,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: I can't focus because I'm just looking at third base
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: right now, like.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: Exactly, you could tell where the baseball field was, and
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: sometimes they would still have the dirt out there back
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: in the eighties because they wouldn't take the dirt out
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: because you still had baseball season going on. It was weird.
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: Oh how a guy said, Shaye Stadium is now city
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: field a city field.
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: Okay, thank you. I appreciate that. Uh, baseball stadiums are
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: mostly different and have different looks to them. Football, basketball,
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: and hockey are played on the same dimensions everywhere. Yeah, okay,
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: I get that, so everything's different. The part I love
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: about the Red Sox they took their original scoreboard from
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: a Finnway Park and they sent it to Naples, Florida
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: to I think it's called Jet Blue Stadium down there
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: where their spring training is. So if you go to
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: spring training to watch the Red Sox play, they're a
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: home field jet Blue Park, you get to see the
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: original scoreboard from Finway Park. I thought that was pretty cool.
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: I've always wanted to do the Grapefruit League just to
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: go see the spring training. I thought that would be
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: fun too.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I'm very judgmental on the MLB in terms of like
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: rules and stuff and how same needs a change.
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: I've been very adamant on that.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Yes, one thing that like, isn't it you know, historical
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: presence of the MLB that I love is that, like
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: the stadiums have different dimensions. Yeah, and the reasoning behind
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: that is because they had to fit the parks within
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: like major cities, say physically, like some of these arenas
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: could not fit right in the neighborhood, so they had
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: to change the dimensions.
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: Of each party. Isn't that crazy?
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: So I love that that just became like a way,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: like that's the one like old school rule of baseball
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: that makes.
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: Me, yeah, that I love. I think it was Oscar
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: Combs that used tell me at Ebotts Field, you get
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: in the outfield and you'd start going up to give
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: you an indicator that you're getting close to the fence.
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: So it wasn't even level that's funny, which I thought
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: was hilarious. Yeah, I do love that. I've always wanted
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: to go to Red Sox game and sit on the
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: green wall. I think that would be a fun experience.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: I don't think the height would be good for me
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: because I'm scared of heights, but I'd like to try
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: it once just to sit at the green Wall.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: The highest I've ever sat at a baseball game. It
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: actually made me uncomfortable. Was last year when I went
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: to the Pittsbord Pirates game. Yes, it wasn't like packed
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: in there, so like we could have just moved we
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: wanted to, but I go sit in my seat, like
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: you know, I don't want to bother anybody. Plus I'm
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: not a Pirates fan, so I was just there to
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: watch the game.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: It was a big deal.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: We were sitting in the top left of the stadium.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: There was maybe like five rows above us. I genuinely
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: thought I was like about the jump off the skyscraper.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: I was like, I would not imagine. No. Thanks he because,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: like you know, I go to Reds games all the time.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: They don't have any of that.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: I was like, I I feel like I'm on the
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: top level of an NFL stadium, Like I couldn't big.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Ohio guy said Oakland Coliseum. That was the
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: name of the stadium out there where the Raiders in
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: the A's plate. Uh in one texture, said Michael. It's
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: called the green Monster, not the green Wall. Well it's
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: a green wall. You're right, it's the Monster. I mean
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: you're not wrong. I know, but it's okay. I like
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: that he correct me. That's Jamie, so Jamie can correct me.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: It's okay. If I wouldn't let him probably arrest me. So, uh,
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: let's take our last break. I will talk a little
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: bit about Belmont Stakes coming up on Saturday. And uh
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: we had a Jose Conseko incident last night, and uh,
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: I know the the player. Oh too. Well, let's stay
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: right there. One more segment of just the Cat's coming
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: right up. This is the sound, this is the sounds
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: to stop. I appreciate you doing that right there. One
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: of the best concerts I ever went to was Aero Smith.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: They were fantastic. I I so you know that song,
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: don't you? Okay? Good? All right? Then have you seen
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: the refcam as we go through the Stanley Cup right now? No, okay,
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: it's it's pretty freaking cool. And listen. I have been
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: watching it so much now that I would prefer there
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: to be an alternative feed with just the refcam and
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: watch the hockey game. That would be fantastic.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: Oh you mean like the UFL does Oh they have one, yep.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I didn't know that every has a cam on. Yeah,
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: but that's not quite as exciting. At least, the officials
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: in NHL are right there pretty much on every single
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: play UF.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: Okay, all right, oh my gosh, man, I give up
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: with you. Okay, this is going to be a long
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: time with.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: You Soonkers isn't live though, they just use it for
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: free plays and stuff. Yeah yeah, okay, all right, then
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: I'm glad that's the case. All right, Let's talk about
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: Angels outfielder Jordan Adelle, which now goes by Joe. I've
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: known Jordan since he was, ah, gosh, seven years old.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: He's from Louisll, Kentucky, went to Ballot High School, almost
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: went to u of L, but he went ahead and
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: signed the MLB contract with the Angels.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: Did you watch this last night? So when I say
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: he did a Jose Conseco, do you know what I'm
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: talking about? Maybe? Jose Conseco is known famously not just
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: a great baseball player, but for a blooper home run
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: where someone hit a ball he lost it, it hits
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: on his head and bounces over the outfield wall. Well,
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: unfortunately for Jordan Dale last night, Joe ad It's hard
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: for me to call him Joe. I've known him as
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: Jordan all his life, but Jordan.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: There was a player for Colorada Rockies, a designated hitter
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: named TJ. Rumfield, who hit a ball and Joe lost
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: it in the twilight of the stadium lights last night
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: in Los Angeles and the ball hits him on the
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: head and goes over the outfield wall. Is that embarrassing
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: or do you just kind of shake it off? To me,
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: you just gotta shake it off. You can't that let
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: that kind of stuff bother you.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, if you're a professional athlete, like every
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: once in a while in life, things happen exactly like
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: I have in my lifetime's probably had five or six instance,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: and like that's a one in a million chance that
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: just happened, which is unlucky timing and stuff. If you're
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: if we're letting stuff like that get to us, then yeah,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: we can't be a professional.
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: I hope it doesn't bother him. I know a lot
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: of people are gonna make fun of him for this,
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: but you know, let me see you go play baseball.
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna be biased because I love Joe. Joe. He
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: is the nicest kid from the nicest parents you'll ever
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: meet your life. That still live here in Louisville, and
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: Jordan is a good young man and obviously a great athlete.
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: But just let's laugh it off. Okay, let's just have
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: fun with them, not against him. But I thought it
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: was kind of funny. I mean that that just happens.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: I mean, we're all human, just like when I see
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: golfers out there in the PGA Tour that duff a ball.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: They're all going to do it one time, and it
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: makes the regular people feel normal that a professional golfer
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: can screw up. But I thought this was crazy. Steph
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: Curry's shoe deal from a China company called le Leaning
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: ten year endorsement deal for over four hundred million dollars.
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: I have never heard of Leaning, but you know what,
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: I guarantee it's going to give whatever shoe companies here
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: in the United States to run for their money.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: I mean, if I had that deal, I'd be leaning
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: on that them a whole life. Oh my gosh, nice joke,
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: but yes, I would be too.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: You got that right. Are we looking forward to the
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: Belmont Steaks?
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: I am. Yeah.
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: I'm headed there, and I hate to tell you I'm
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: not going to be on Tomorrow, Friday, Okay, I'll be
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: back Monday, so don't freak out everybody with everything. That's
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: all the changes that have happened here at the station.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: I'm not quitting, but I'm taking off tomorrow and I'm
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: taking off Friday because I gotta catch an airplane in
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: the morning, head up to New York City, meet my son.
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: I'm taking my two boys. My wife's not going, but
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: I wish she was. But it's just gonna be the
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: three of us. We're gonna have a good time. I'm
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: looking for I've never been to Saratoga Springs and we're
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: gonna go see the Belmont Stakes, And uh yeah, the
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: the lineup came up as far as post the horses
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: that are in it. And you know, we've got Chief
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: Wallaby three to one, Renegade two to one, You've got
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: a Commandment six to one, who is also in the Derby,
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: and then Golden Tempo at nine to two. Do you
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: think Golden Tempo will win the Belmont or do you
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: think it's just a good win for him at Kentucky Derby. No,
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: he doesn't. I don't think so either. Who are you
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: gonna go with in the Belmont? A lot of people
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: are going with Renegade. They're saying that Renegade is gonna
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: be the horse to beat, not Golden Tempo. I'm just
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: gonna take Renegade because I don't know any other horses.
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: Oh really, okay, I'm going with Commandment. I'm gonna have
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: fun and go a little out there, a little bit
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: reach and say Commandment is going to be the horse
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: to win. But we'll talk about it next week. You're
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: taking off as well. You're going You're leaving Friday for Tampa. Yes, Florida,
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: and you'll be there, but you'll be back on the
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: air with me next Wednesday. Yes, So it's gonna be
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: a little influx here the next few days, but yeah,
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: or the next week. Now. I will hope to find
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: out who was going to be producing this. They have
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: not let me know.
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: You.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: Oh boy, okay, maybe Michael. Maybe Michael be in here.
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: Who is Mike.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I'm sorry I put you. I'm gonna say maybe Michael
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: will be in here. I just said Michael and will
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: at the same time.
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: Oh, oh, I got you? Yeah, no I I I yeah,
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: I don't. I wish they'd let us know who's gonna
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: help us. But uh, anyway, but that's just the way
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: it goes for right now. So yeah, I'll be out
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: tomorrow and Friday. You'll be out tomorrow, Friday, Monday, Tuesday,
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: and then back Wednesday. So it's just it's a summer show.
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: So I apologize, but don't don't freak out. We'll be here,
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: we'll be talking about Belmont, we'll be talking about all
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: kinds of stuff on Monday. But have a great week,
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: be safe on the road, be patient with everybody. We'll
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: see you on Monday. Everybody, have a great weekend.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: Dare herea
