- 0:08Speaker 1: Day one of training camp is in the books for
- 0:10Speaker 1: the Jags. Brian John, How would you guys describe Calvin
- 0:13Speaker 1: Ridley in one word?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Groovy like this song hopeful, I'm not a funny layer.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Welcome into jags Am. Here. It's July twenty seventh. We
- 0:39Speaker 1: had the first day of training camp yesterday. Today is
- 0:41Speaker 1: day two and it's just nice for football to be back.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna speak for both of you when I say.
- 0:46Speaker 3: That, Oh no, go right ahead. I want to just
- 0:48Speaker 3: keep grooving with the song. This is happy. I like it.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Jags Am. We got tons of surprises for you guys coming.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I thought it was Creatin's clear out of Ourvival was first.
- 0:58Speaker 2: He got the first couple of notes of the first song.
- 1:01Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm ready.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Let's good, very well, all right, let's start with one
- 1:04Speaker 1: of our big things from yesterday. Doug came out and
- 1:06Speaker 1: spoke to us in the morning at about eight am,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and he was just saying he's excited to be here.
- 1:11Speaker 1: He's excited to get training camp going in for it
- 1:13Speaker 1: to feel normal after his first year here and now
- 1:15Speaker 1: to have the new facility, he felt like it was
- 1:17Speaker 1: really back to the way he expected training camp to
- 1:19Speaker 1: be let's hear from him.
- 1:21Speaker 5: We were at Episcopal and we appreciate everything they did
- 1:24Speaker 5: for us. And we're on buses, you know, transporting back
- 1:26Speaker 5: and forth. So we kind of became a little closer
- 1:28Speaker 5: group for a couple of weeks as we did that.
- 1:31Speaker 5: You know, now the excitement enthusiasm of you know, a
- 1:36Speaker 5: brand new building and you know, two great fields and
- 1:40Speaker 5: having fans back you know at practice, which we'll have today,
- 1:43Speaker 5: and those are all the excitable things that we look
- 1:47Speaker 5: forward to.
- 1:49Speaker 1: No, I wasn't here last year, you guys, But what
- 1:51Speaker 1: was it like trying to go to Episcopal and come back.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I know, obviously COVID affected the year before that, so
- 1:55Speaker 1: was it a little bit different for you guys to
- 1:57Speaker 1: try and deal with that.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you got a new coach, you had a new
- 2:00Speaker 3: place for training camp. You were trying to just kind
- 2:03Speaker 3: of figure out a rhythm to the day. And in
- 2:05Speaker 3: this building. Now that's the great thing. The players, John,
- 2:08Speaker 3: We'll get into their rhythm. They'll come in, they'll get dressed,
- 2:10Speaker 3: they go to the field, they'll go to breakfast, they
- 2:12Speaker 3: come back to the meeting rooms. You know, they'll just
- 2:14Speaker 3: it'll just be easy. Last year was hard.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Well, it's got to be the easiest in terms of that.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It's it's the least things they have to think about.
- 2:23Speaker 2: It's the most efficient. Even in the old like the
- 2:28Speaker 2: locker room has always been in the middle of the
- 2:31Speaker 2: stadium next to the field, and they've had the walk
- 2:34Speaker 2: for you know, three or four minutes, which you know
- 2:36Speaker 2: doesn't kill anybody. But here it's much quicker, it's much
- 2:39Speaker 2: more efficient. It was designed for this. It's an NFL
- 2:42Speaker 2: training center, and as Doug alluded to, they just don't
- 2:46Speaker 2: have to think about that sort of thing that's around football,
- 2:49Speaker 2: and that's what it's supposed to be.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I think efficient is a good way to describe it.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I think in the olden days, maybe they would send
- 2:54Speaker 1: you out to colleges or like kind of put them
- 2:56Speaker 1: in a dorm to make it a little more of
- 2:58Speaker 1: an experience, right, But now it's kind of like, we
- 3:00Speaker 1: have this facility, let's go to work and let's you know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: get down to the nitty gritty of At least from
- 3:04Speaker 1: my perspective, do you feel you feel similar, Well, just
- 3:07Speaker 1: to go.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Back to easy, you have to race back from Episcopal
- 3:11Speaker 3: you know, they would have meetings or wait sessions or recovery,
- 3:15Speaker 3: or we would try to get to press conferences and
- 3:17Speaker 3: things that were going on. Everybody just was going everywhere,
- 3:21Speaker 3: and right now it's just about going through the process,
- 3:26Speaker 3: going through the schedule of the day.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I have an issue with olden days, since they were
- 3:32Speaker 2: also my days.
- 3:34Speaker 1: We would never say that, well, it's.
- 3:37Speaker 2: In the olden days, which days to when Brian and
- 3:42Speaker 2: I first started covering the NFL.
- 3:44Speaker 3: When they practiced twice a day in full you.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Did go to because they hadn't designed camps and they
- 3:51Speaker 2: hadn't designed team facilities to have stands like they do now,
- 3:55Speaker 2: so they would go to college's partially to get away,
- 3:58Speaker 2: but then fans could come and it could be an event.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Now they have realized what this is, so they bring
- 4:03Speaker 2: the event to the team.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We heard from Trevor for the first time in training
- 4:07Speaker 1: camp yesterday and he got to sign autographs with some
- 4:09Speaker 1: of the fans and he was just talking about, you know,
- 4:11Speaker 1: the new environment as well. Obviously that was the story
- 4:13Speaker 1: of the day for everybody, and just what it feels like,
- 4:15Speaker 1: what the vibes are and how much he enjoys it.
- 4:19Speaker 6: Of course, it's a new year and we have to
- 4:21Speaker 6: we have to go prove ourselves, but just the confidence
- 4:24Speaker 6: and the energy that we have based off of what
- 4:27Speaker 6: we've done and the amount of work we put in
- 4:29Speaker 6: together over the past I guess a year and a
- 4:31Speaker 6: half now with some of these guys, you feel that
- 4:34Speaker 6: confidence and the.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Energy for sure.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Obviously we've been talking about the offense for for months
- 4:38Speaker 1: at this point, but they must feel it as well.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I mean, you get out there and you just watch
- 4:42Speaker 1: that group as a whole operate, and it's just it
- 4:45Speaker 1: looks like machine already.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Well, I know we're going to talk about Calvin Ridley,
- 4:49Speaker 3: so let me just talk about a couple of the
- 4:50Speaker 3: other guys.
- 4:51Speaker 7: Sure.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I was standing up on the deck, which is a
- 4:54Speaker 3: nice feature of this facility, and looking at and watching
- 4:57Speaker 3: the receivers do the ladder drill. They're ridiculously talented guys
- 5:02Speaker 3: like Parker Washington, just blazing fast feet. I thought, Okay, now,
- 5:08Speaker 3: how do you how do you mix Parker Washington into
- 5:10Speaker 3: this equation? Because how are you gonna give the ball
- 5:13Speaker 3: to Evan Ingram, Zay Jones, Christian Kirk and Calvin Ridley? Enough? Right,
- 5:18Speaker 3: and how do you mix this guy in there? It's
- 5:20Speaker 3: it's an abundance of options, and now you mixing Doug Peterson,
- 5:25Speaker 3: John and Mike McCoy and Press Taylor, and they got
- 5:29Speaker 3: a lot of drawing to well.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I think it's significant that you don't necessarily have to
- 5:35Speaker 2: be rushed to find a role for Parker Washington, that
- 5:39Speaker 2: you're deep in that way, and it's about time around
- 5:43Speaker 2: here that you could have rookies really have a year
- 5:45Speaker 2: to develop and then maybe in week three you find
- 5:48Speaker 2: a wrinkle for him and all of a sudden he
- 5:49Speaker 2: starts sort of finding his role rather than starting as
- 5:53Speaker 2: a fourth round draft pick, which has happened around here
- 5:55Speaker 2: at wide receiver when guys weren't ready. I think the
- 6:01Speaker 2: best way to describe the offense yesterday you always go
- 6:05Speaker 2: with the caveat. You can't tell much on the first
- 6:07Speaker 2: day of practice, but they looked efficient. As Press Taylor
- 6:11Speaker 2: said this morning, it's so much faster and there's so
- 6:15Speaker 2: much more confidence. And when Trevor's dropping back, he doesn't
- 6:19Speaker 2: look at this stage of practice like he's thinking. It
- 6:22Speaker 2: looks like it's very quick, And that's all you can
- 6:25Speaker 2: judge on is how much better it looks in at
- 6:27Speaker 2: did time last year you would expect yesterday to look
- 6:30Speaker 2: incredibly efficient offensively with him looking spectacular, because it's supposed
- 6:34Speaker 2: to do and.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It did, and I think best case scenario, Trevor will
- 6:37Speaker 1: end up running the practice at least from the offensive
- 6:39Speaker 1: perspective going forward, and from what we've seen so far,
- 6:41Speaker 1: I think at some point this season that's definitely is
- 6:44Speaker 1: what is going to happen. Our last big thing of
- 6:46Speaker 1: the day is the fans. Of course, because the fans
- 6:49Speaker 1: were out here in force. They've got several practices they
- 6:50Speaker 1: can come to.
- 6:51Speaker 3: This year.
- 6:51Speaker 1: They got new stands that are in the shade and
- 6:53Speaker 1: it's comfortable environment for them, and the players themselves are
- 6:56Speaker 1: very much happy that the fans are able to hear it,
- 6:59Speaker 1: to be here as well.
- 7:02Speaker 6: I mean, the best facility in the NFL, the best
- 7:04Speaker 6: fans in the NFL. It's cool to have to be
- 7:06Speaker 6: able to share that with the city and to have
- 7:07Speaker 6: fans here. I mean, we're gonna have people here pretty
- 7:09Speaker 6: much every day, so we're putting it to good use.
- 7:12Speaker 6: And I know everybody's excited. And just like the fans
- 7:14Speaker 6: were talking about, we met a few of them. They're
- 7:16Speaker 6: pumped for this year. We are too, and just there's
- 7:17Speaker 6: a lot of energy and we're just trying to channel
- 7:20Speaker 6: it all the right way and really take advantage of
- 7:21Speaker 6: our opportunity. And it's exciting, and this is a this
- 7:24Speaker 6: is an awesome place.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Great day for fans. Yesterday, I would say it was
- 7:28Speaker 1: borderline pleasant out in the morning. In the shade, I
- 7:30Speaker 1: would say, very enjoyable, at least from my perspective. Obviously
- 7:34Speaker 1: was not practicing on the field so well, how they
- 7:36Speaker 1: were just to be honest.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Right, if it's good for you, it's good for you.
- 7:39Speaker 3: You didn't have to search for shade. There were times
- 7:43Speaker 3: where you'd find a little corner where there was some
- 7:45Speaker 3: shade and you could get out of the sun here.
- 7:47Speaker 3: And yesterday there was abundant shade for everyone, which makes
- 7:52Speaker 3: it a real pleasant experience. And I was just over
- 7:54Speaker 3: to a reception with new season ticket holders and they're
- 7:57Speaker 3: as excited to be here as you can imagine, as
- 8:00Speaker 3: it sounded like Doug and Trevor were to have them here.
- 8:03Speaker 7: Well.
- 8:03Speaker 2: As I said on Tuesday, it's supposed to be fun
- 8:06Speaker 2: for fans. I don't know that it has to be
- 8:09Speaker 2: fun for media and.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Us, but if it is, it is.
- 8:11Speaker 2: It's not supposed to be torture, and there were times
- 8:16Speaker 2: standing out on that field for years and years and
- 8:18Speaker 2: years where the sweats in your eyes, it's miserable. Wo wow,
- 8:22Speaker 2: you get to watch practice. I get it. But it's
- 8:25Speaker 2: much better now. And for people who are concerned about
- 8:27Speaker 2: my well being, I was very happy yesterday, and I
- 8:30Speaker 2: know you, York.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I was so happy for it. Yes I was a
- 8:32Speaker 1: little concerned about my you know, coming from the North
- 8:35Speaker 1: to here, I wasn't sure if I was going to
- 8:37Speaker 1: be passing out or in an ice tub or whatnot.
- 8:39Speaker 1: But this new facility really came through for me yesterday.
- 8:42Speaker 3: You know what, it sounds like. Everybody's happy all the
- 8:44Speaker 3: way around. So a job well done to everybody responsible
- 8:46Speaker 3: for this facility.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Very well. All right, we're going to talk more about
- 8:49Speaker 1: Calvin Ridley and the amazingness that he is and a
- 8:52Speaker 1: little bit more about this offense coming up. So stay
- 8:54Speaker 1: with us.

- 10:47Speaker 1: the AM.
- 10:48Speaker 3: It is good.
- 10:51Speaker 1: We love a good vibe. Now, let's talk a little
- 10:53Speaker 1: bit about the offense that was the star of the
- 10:54Speaker 1: day yesterday. I think just athletically watching Calvin Ridley was
- 10:58Speaker 1: hard for me to describe. I've I mean, John, You've
- 11:02Speaker 1: covered some some elite offensive, elite offensive receivers athletically, just
- 11:06Speaker 1: drill wise. Have you seen anyone quite like Calvin Ridley?
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you have Jared Smith. I think, Yeah,
- 11:14Speaker 2: Calvin really was spectacular yesterday. And as I said in
- 11:17Speaker 2: the top, the hope is that he gives you so
- 11:21Speaker 2: much hope for this offense for the future. But I
- 11:23Speaker 2: covered Jimmy Smith and Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, all
- 11:26Speaker 2: of whom I think are Hall of Fame level receivers,
- 11:29Speaker 2: so they look like that. And but I will say
- 11:32Speaker 2: that Calvin probably compares to Marvin a little bit in
- 11:35Speaker 2: terms of just the a quickness where you would watch
- 11:40Speaker 2: practices and he just couldn't be covered. And Jimmy had
- 11:45Speaker 2: that too, but Jimmy was so physical. Jimmy was a
- 11:47Speaker 2: different type, and I got to honestly, I would put
- 11:51Speaker 2: Justin Blackman into that category. There were practices in the
- 11:53Speaker 2: brief time he was here where you walked off the
- 11:56Speaker 2: practice field after Justin Blackman play and you're like, man,
- 11:59Speaker 2: well that was the feeling yesterday, Brien. You walked off
- 12:02Speaker 2: that field and you knew, you know, I get this.
- 12:05Speaker 2: It's the first practice, but it messed with what you
- 12:10Speaker 2: heard about this guy and the thought that he can
- 12:12Speaker 2: be a top five receiver. That's what it looks like.
- 12:14Speaker 2: With all due respect to every receiver that's played here.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Jimmy Smith was number one is number one. Uh, that's
- 12:21Speaker 2: the best receiver I've seen since Jimmy Smith was running.
- 12:24Speaker 2: And Christian Kirk was spectacular last year, and Zay Jones
- 12:27Speaker 2: had big moments. But when you see a guy move
- 12:30Speaker 2: like that, when you see how the defenders adjust to him, right,
- 12:35Speaker 2: you realize right away that every defensive coordinator is going
- 12:38Speaker 2: to be how do we take Calvin Ridley out of
- 12:39Speaker 2: the equation here?
- 12:40Speaker 6: Right?
- 12:41Speaker 3: He is a game changer in that sense because if
- 12:45Speaker 3: Evan Ingram opens up the middle of the field for guys,
- 12:48Speaker 3: this guy opens up the deep third for guys. I mean,
- 12:50Speaker 3: there will be so much coverage rolling his way that
- 12:54Speaker 3: the other guys should find places where they can get theirs.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I just I was. I watched him almost the whole practice,
- 13:01Speaker 3: and it was entertaining from the first moment of the
- 13:03Speaker 3: last he's special.
- 13:04Speaker 2: My big I'm sorry guy. My big moment yesterday was
- 13:09Speaker 2: I was talking to Josh Allen after practice and he
- 13:12Speaker 2: had been talking seven eight minutes and then I said, hey,
- 13:16Speaker 2: I know you weren't covering him, but he goes Ridley,
- 13:19Speaker 2: he's a dog, and he said, that's what you're gonna
- 13:21Speaker 2: ask about, right, like volunteer day. Well, and players know
- 13:28Speaker 2: when another player is special or a dog or you
- 13:32Speaker 2: know that's kind of kid's term, kind of dog. They know,
- 13:37Speaker 2: and Josh Allen knew, and every player in that field
- 13:40Speaker 2: yesterday knows this guy is special. He looked like the
- 13:43Speaker 2: best player on the field. Yesterday. And I'm not gonna
- 13:45Speaker 2: say he's the best player on the team because he
- 13:46Speaker 2: hoped Trevor Lawrence is.
- 13:48Speaker 3: But Ridley might be look like a race car. I mean,
- 13:52Speaker 3: like that Lamborghini that you see every once in a
- 13:54Speaker 3: while that turns your head in a field full of
- 13:57Speaker 3: really nice cars. He raced by every one yesterday.
- 14:00Speaker 1: It's I think we talked about this a little bit yesterday.
- 14:03Speaker 1: You watch him do a drill and you're like, by
- 14:04Speaker 1: the eye test, that looks ridiculous. It's fast, right, and
- 14:07Speaker 1: then someone else goes and you're like, oh, that really
- 14:09Speaker 1: was so And these are top level NFL athletes going next,
- 14:13Speaker 1: but compared to what he's doing.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I'll go back to it if you get a chance today.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Watch the ladder drill where the receivers put a foot
- 14:19Speaker 3: in and a foot out of the ladder as they
- 14:21Speaker 3: kind of chriss crossed their way over eight feet Parker
- 14:25Speaker 3: Washington was really impressive. No one even came close to
- 14:29Speaker 3: Ridley's feet and the speed with which he moves his
- 14:33Speaker 3: feet and the way that he turns his hips when
- 14:37Speaker 3: he explodes and changed direction. There were a couple of
- 14:39Speaker 3: times yesterday with the suddenness of it caught me off guard,
- 14:42Speaker 3: and I know that Tyson Campbell or whoever was lined
- 14:45Speaker 3: up against him felt the exact same way, like, did
- 14:47Speaker 3: he just do that? I mean, we're making him out
- 14:50Speaker 3: sound like a Hall of Famer. Maybe he is. He'll
- 14:52Speaker 3: he'll earn that. But his talent is undeniable and eye
- 14:57Speaker 3: popping at times, and I can't wait to see what
- 15:00Speaker 3: he does on the field and how Press Taylor and
- 15:03Speaker 3: Mike McCoy and Doug Peterson use him.
- 15:05Speaker 1: We talked obviously what Calvin will be able to do.
- 15:08Speaker 1: He'll garner a lot of coverage no matter what, just
- 15:10Speaker 1: because of his athletic ability. Do you guys have a
- 15:12Speaker 1: name on the offense that you think might really benefit
- 15:15Speaker 1: from having Calvin, even if it's just the coverage goes
- 15:17Speaker 1: that way or helps open them up and elsewhere on
- 15:20Speaker 1: the field.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Trevor, good one, that's a really good one. Well, I
- 15:27Speaker 2: think Christian Kirk. I mean, it's so hard and I'm
- 15:30Speaker 2: not trying to avoid the question. It's okay, Christian Kirk,
- 15:34Speaker 2: Evan Ingram, and z Jones, all of them will benefit
- 15:39Speaker 2: tremendously because you can't double them. Now you have it.
- 15:43Speaker 2: And when I was in Indy. I asked Tony Dungee
- 15:47Speaker 2: once what Marvin Harrison meant to the offense and what
- 15:52Speaker 2: he meant and you're talking about one of the best
- 15:54Speaker 2: twenty receivers probably would have played the game and Martin
- 15:57Speaker 2: and he said, with Marvin, we know what the defense
- 16:01Speaker 2: has to do to cover him or they will lose
- 16:04Speaker 2: the game. And that enabled Peyton to look to know
- 16:08Speaker 2: from coming to the line how they were playing Marvin,
- 16:12Speaker 2: and then he knew where else to go with the
- 16:13Speaker 2: ball or to go to Marvin. Ridley looks like that
- 16:17Speaker 2: same sort of element where Trevor will come to the line.
- 16:20Speaker 2: If you're not covering Ridley, you go to Ridley, if
- 16:23Speaker 2: you're doubling him, you will know what else the defense
- 16:25Speaker 2: is doing. It will help Trevor's ability to read the
- 16:28Speaker 2: defense tremendously.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Since you took all the receivers. I'll give you etn
- 16:32Speaker 3: because I think they'll use him in the passing game.
- 16:35Speaker 3: He's a weapon in the passing game. And when you
- 16:38Speaker 3: talk about Ridley taking the double or taking it down
- 16:41Speaker 3: the field and Ingram and Kirk doing things in the
- 16:43Speaker 3: middle or the short zones, I just think it's going
- 16:45Speaker 3: to be tough for a linebacker to be able to
- 16:48Speaker 3: cover him because he's going to get a linebacker and
- 16:50Speaker 3: maybe a middle linebacker that he doesn't want right or
- 16:53Speaker 3: that the linebacker doesn't want to cover Etn out of
- 16:56Speaker 3: the backfield. I think Etn is going to be a
- 16:58Speaker 3: major recipient of cal Ridley's presence.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Tons of possibilities, very exciting. We're gonna look to see
- 17:04Speaker 1: that a little bit more in training camp and once
- 17:06Speaker 1: the season begins. Stay with us. Coming up, we're gonna
- 17:08Speaker 1: go around the league and talk about some of the
- 17:10Speaker 1: national stories.

- 18:46Speaker 10: You go from good to get.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Time for us to go around the league talk about
- 18:54Speaker 1: what other people are talking about and some things that
- 18:56Speaker 1: affect the Jaguars. We're going to talk about Trevor Lawrence.
- 18:58Speaker 1: He's always getting disrespect on these lists. The latest version
- 19:02Speaker 1: is the top one hundred NFL players voted on by
- 19:05Speaker 1: the players, and he's number ninety six. What was your
- 19:08Speaker 1: immediate thought when you saw that, John?
- 19:10Speaker 2: You didn't care? I mean, and I say that, Well,
- 19:15Speaker 2: I've done these lists enough to know what these lists are.
- 19:19Speaker 2: I guess it speaks a little bit of the perception.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It speaks a little bit to the fact that he
- 19:22Speaker 2: did it for eight games last year. I think he'll
- 19:24Speaker 2: be much much higher on next year's list. Does he
- 19:27Speaker 2: used his motivation? Maybe it is he too low? I
- 19:31Speaker 2: would say, yes, I'm not a big list guy.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I could care less for the most part. Right,
- 19:39Speaker 3: I'm not the guy that gets caught up in the
- 19:40Speaker 3: controversies about things like songs or lists. I will say this,
- 19:45Speaker 3: Justin Fields is in front of him, Well, that's absurd,
- 19:48Speaker 3: are you kidding? And then did you see that Lenny Tomlinson,
- 19:50Speaker 3: you know, was saying that, well, obviously Fields is a
- 19:53Speaker 3: better quarterback. He can run like that kid can't, right,
- 19:58Speaker 3: like Trevor Kant and he can throw right there with Trevor. Well,
- 20:01Speaker 3: not with accuracy. He can't come on. That was that
- 20:03Speaker 3: was the part where I went.
- 20:06Speaker 1: On, and I think some of that left for this
- 20:08Speaker 1: same right, you gotta have a hot tache. And then
- 20:10Speaker 1: some of that comes with people not watching Trevor a
- 20:12Speaker 1: lot other than you know, late in the season maybe.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Okay, So just randomly, where would you put Trevor?
- 20:20Speaker 2: You know, uh, I would say he's got to be
- 20:22Speaker 2: top fifty, But I haven't spent a whole lot of
- 20:25Speaker 2: time looking at everybody else and think of what it's
- 20:28Speaker 2: TV over. But I would say he's one of the
- 20:30Speaker 2: top ten quarterbacks right now or or close. And if
- 20:34Speaker 2: you're one of the top ten quarterbacks, you have me
- 20:35Speaker 2: in the top fifteen. And you know, look homer ism aside.
- 20:40Speaker 2: He's certainly better than justin fields.
- 20:44Speaker 3: By the way to tackle taglelil, I'll never pronounce it
- 20:47Speaker 3: tua tagail right, I say it right? Uh, tula was
- 20:52Speaker 3: four spots in front of fields. Well, I would play
- 20:56Speaker 3: last year. No, but he at least has a little
- 20:59Speaker 3: bit of a bye of work. And I could get
- 21:02Speaker 3: into a conversation about that. It'd be harder to get
- 21:06Speaker 3: into a conversation about. But I'm not a big running.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Quarterbacks guy, so maybe he's just a spectacular runner and
- 21:13Speaker 2: good for him, but I would I would definitely after
- 21:16Speaker 2: seeing what I saw if Trevor at the end of
- 21:18Speaker 2: last season, I feel confident that he's one of the
- 21:21Speaker 2: top fifty.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I think this is another thing to just keep in mind,
- 21:23Speaker 1: and then next year we'll see exactly where Trevor ends
- 21:26Speaker 1: up once they've seen what he's able to do elsewhere
- 21:29Speaker 1: around the league. Justin Herbert got paid. He got a
- 21:31Speaker 1: five year extension two hundred and sixty two and a
- 21:35Speaker 1: half million dollars. Looking ahead, we know Trevor's gonna get
- 21:40Speaker 1: some eye popping numbers. But we asked Trevor if he
- 21:43Speaker 1: saw that, and he told us about it after training camp. Well,
- 21:49Speaker 1: he told us a little bit yesterday, but just oh yeah,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I noticed it. He didn't really want to give full
- 21:53Speaker 1: credit to it, right, He was like, yeah, I saw that.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I keep up on things, but you know, he's watching
- 21:58Speaker 1: these checks come in and he's like, what am I getting?
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah. So between between Herbert and Trevor getting his is
- 22:06Speaker 3: Joe Burrow, who's played in the Super Bowl, right so
- 22:09Speaker 3: Burrow is gonna bump that up.
- 22:11Speaker 1: It has to be three for Joe Burrow, right, Well,
- 22:13Speaker 1: I mean yeah, the.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Just by nature of money and the league, Trevor's gonna
- 22:19Speaker 3: bump up that. So fifty four and a half fifty
- 22:22Speaker 3: five million at whatever point you know it's it's coming.
- 22:25Speaker 3: And if I'm Trevor, I'm like, yeah, with fifty four
- 22:28Speaker 3: fifty five, I'll take it. I'm not gonna worry too
- 22:30Speaker 3: much about it.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Well, he also has outside endorsements and he's fine. Not
- 22:35Speaker 2: I'm worried about a lot of things. Trevor financially not
- 22:38Speaker 2: a concern. I'll put that aside. I thought his answer
- 22:41Speaker 2: was fine yesterday. He clearly knows about it. But the
- 22:45Speaker 2: fact that Herbert signed it, I'm sure it's cool to
- 22:48Speaker 2: see the number, but it's not going to change his
- 22:52Speaker 2: dynamic of what he's going to get paid next off season.
- 22:55Speaker 2: But do you sort of look at it and go
- 22:58Speaker 2: all right, Jaggs.
- 23:00Speaker 3: I can just tell you if it was me, my
- 23:02Speaker 3: wife would be looking at it. She'd be like, do
- 23:03Speaker 3: you see what he got?
- 23:05Speaker 1: You gotta keep an eye on it.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Well, somebody's looking up.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It's the next person is always the highest feed person.
- 23:09Speaker 1: So whenever we get to try, he'll be Remember.
- 23:11Speaker 3: When Steve Young became the first million dollar football player? Yes,
- 23:15Speaker 3: I did for the USFL express.
- 23:20Speaker 1: High school days for you, they were the golden days
- 23:23Speaker 1: for I'm sure did.
- 23:24Speaker 3: You know that Steve Young was the first million dollar quarterback?
- 23:27Speaker 3: Controversial a quarterback getting a million dollars a year?
- 23:30Speaker 1: And how mad is now looking at.
- 23:31Speaker 3: The US Ask any player as Tony BISSELLI asked Fred Taylor,
- 23:36Speaker 3: what would you be worth today? And they just smile
- 23:37Speaker 3: and walk away from you.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Exactly, they don't want to get into it.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I have to answer that, Ques, you don't know how
- 23:41Speaker 3: good I was, all right?
- 23:42Speaker 1: And our last thing from around the league is two
- 23:45Speaker 1: familiar faces to Jacksonville, Mac Jones and Klais Campbell. Klais
- 23:49Speaker 1: Campbell in Atlanta now, and they were talking to him
- 23:51Speaker 1: a little bit about Patrick Mahomes, you know, playing nice
- 23:55Speaker 1: with the lineman so he doesn't get hit as hard.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And so then they asked him who was the person
- 24:00Speaker 1: that talks the most trash to him? And this is
- 24:02Speaker 1: what he had to say, Phil the.
- 24:04Speaker 13: Rivers just be a trash talker, is tough, but he
- 24:07Speaker 13: was never like disrespectful, you know Mac Jones, actually he
- 24:11Speaker 13: was kind of disrespectful.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Hold on, man, but you know he get an extra.
- 24:18Speaker 13: I mean while I'm trying to take you know, I'm
- 24:19Speaker 13: trying to hit him with them reason all the time,
- 24:21Speaker 13: so you know, the maximum was always there.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I don't know if it's ever smart talk trash to
- 24:25Speaker 1: the lineman, because they're coming at you hard. Either way,
- 24:28Speaker 1: I think the Patrick Mahomes approach is probably the smart
- 24:30Speaker 1: way to go about this.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Mac Jones is a Bulls kid.
- 24:32Speaker 3: I was just about to say that, Bishop Kenny, I'll tweak.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Mac Jones a litle bit. Of course, he's a trash.
- 24:41Speaker 3: He went to Bulls very fitting. All right, I do
- 24:44Speaker 3: that first.
- 24:45Speaker 12: I love it.
- 24:45Speaker 1: All right, we'll have We'll come back a little bit
- 24:48Speaker 1: and preview what we got for the rest of the week.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Stay with us through that.
- 24:57Speaker 8: Hello, I'm Dan Fields and we have some great news.
