- 0:00What is going on, everybody?
- 0:01Welcome to Wadapalooza A3 wrap-up show.
- 0:06My name is Scott Wichter.
- 0:07I'm the Clydesdale.
- 0:08I've got Amy Radowski with me and Jamie Latimer.
- 0:11We're going to look at today's action and a couple of news items, and then we'll let you get on with your day and on to the final event of the elite teams later tonight.
- 0:24So,
- 0:27With that, a couple quick injury updates.
- 0:31Alex Grone, who withdrew from the individual competition, was replaced on his team by Logan Ewing, friend of the show.
- 0:38So he's out there competing.
- 0:40I think that's the Mayhem Misfits team?
- 0:45Yes, I believe so.
- 0:47Or, yeah.
- 0:49Um, Luke Parker was replaced by Scott Pancheck, which was super exciting.
- 0:54I want to see Scott back out there.
- 0:56And then one of their teammates, Nick Matthew rolled his ankle in the 5k this morning and they had to withdraw.
- 1:03Oh no.
- 1:04So Scott got to run a 5k, which I'm sure was his favorite thing to do with all of his knee surgeries.
- 1:11Um, and then that was it for him.
- 1:16uh, Matilde Garness gave it a go.
- 1:18Um, and she is competing with the Scandinavians.
- 1:24I love that team name.
- 1:26I do too.
- 1:27That was so creative.
- 1:29So, um, that is it for the news items, I think.
- 1:34And Barbara has been putting out stuff, which was it.
- 1:37I want to give credit to them.
- 1:38Uh, he's been my source pretty much the whole weekend.
- 1:42What's up with Justin's, um, ankle?
- 1:44Um,
- 1:46Apparently he rolled it on the 5k as well.
- 1:48Okay.
- 1:48Sounds like there were several rolled ankles out on that course.
- 1:52I mean, it sucks that we didn't get to see any of that.
- 1:57That's my first note.
- 2:00They did not broadcast the bike.
- 2:01They called it a bike race, which had no bike involved.
- 2:05It was just a straight 5K off-site through a very, what we are being told, a very treacherous course.
- 2:13Narrow, no place to pass.
- 2:18Is that good or bad for the sport and why?
- 2:24That they didn't broadcast it or that?
- 2:26They didn't broadcast it.
- 2:29it's terrible i mean same as like not that some of those broadcasts is the greatest broadcast like what you get during the day of of regular open uh masters everything is the kind of comparable to the masters coverage at the games like not great and people complain all day but
- 2:50If you want people to tune in and be interested in this stuff, we need at least a highlight reel.
- 2:55Like they could have come back half hour before this event and just highlight reel that and given us an update, which I think they said they still didn't even have the men's leaderboard calculator.
- 3:04They're still reviewing stuff.
- 3:05So that's like, it's just hard to follow along and stay interested in this team race.
- 3:13Yeah, I think an update or, like you were saying, just a highlight would be good.
- 3:17But I think that broadcasting a 5K at the same time for the spectators not on site can be boring.
- 3:28It can be.
- 3:30I think they have to make an effort.
- 3:32Some of my most vivid memories of CrossFit Games are when they did the gorilla kind of stuff at the ranch.
- 3:39And maybe it wasn't like a full broadcast, but it was a highlight.
- 3:44And they knew where the fun stuff to video would be, like coming down over that trench and like Josh Bridges sliding down on his butt.
- 3:54Like those are vivid memories for me.
- 3:56And then with the way this course is described, it was very similar to that.
- 4:01And it would have been real cool to see just some pieces of it.
- 4:04And now like drones are so much more popular than even they were when that happened.
- 4:11And you could have got some drone shots of at least where people were.
- 4:19I think my overall complaint is I don't think event directors take into account that we need to make this a spectator sport.
- 4:28You need to sell tickets.
- 4:30You need to get people on streams where you can get sponsors so you can grow the sport.
- 4:36And when you don't broadcast those things, because they're different.
- 4:40It's not the same old, same old.
- 4:43Everybody in the world knows what a 5K is.
- 4:47Not everybody knows what a thruster and a cleaning jerk are.
- 4:50And it would be more relatable to people that aren't in this space.
- 4:57Yeah, I agree.
- 5:00Yeah.
- 5:00And I mean, I remember just some of the highlights from previous games.
- 5:03Like I remember watching Rich Froning and he was walking, you know, during a run event.
- 5:09And it was like, whoa, what's how's that happening?
- 5:12So I think it does show, you know, the broad areas of fitness when we can include all the events.
- 5:18But so I think the best option would be some kind of highlight.
- 5:24Yeah, anything, like anything.
- 5:27We always say anything, and then they give us the static cam in one spot that sucks really bad.
- 5:33When I say anything, let some young person who wants to make a name for themselves go film it and then make a quick highlight reel or stream it live and say, hey, for this event, we're not on Loud and Live.
- 5:51We're over here.
- 5:52And we're letting this guy film it.
- 5:56So, okay.
- 5:59So with that, um, I did pull up the leaderboard.
- 6:03We do have, um, we do have the women results.
- 6:12It looks like for the 5k and it was, uh, NG, NGH.
- 6:22Thank goodness.
- 6:22A huge shout out to Holly, who's doing the leaderboards for us over the weekend.
- 6:26She put the names of the athletes on each team underneath the leaderboard, which makes it so much easier to know who we're talking about.
- 6:36She is killing it.
- 6:38I appreciate her so much.
- 6:40Yeah, because when I go on to just heat one, I have to click every team just so I can be like, who's on this team?
- 6:47And right now, the competition corner isn't showing me the names.
- 6:52For some reason.
- 6:53So NGH, I don't even know.
- 6:58Then Lifter Girl, then Lycan Gang, RX Performance, and Team Boreen, which all did well in the swim, too.
- 7:09which we're going to get into in a second.
- 7:12So it's not the names that you typically would think of for this event.
- 7:19And it's going to be interesting because the next four events that haven't been done are more straight CrossFit.
- 7:27Yeah, this is definitely an aerobic capacity.
- 7:31Both the run and this was aerobic capacity.
- 7:35So I'm assuming they're going to be your endurance type athletes?
- 7:38Yes.
- 7:40Although I feel like there's some lifters on some of these teams, too.
- 7:43So I don't know.
- 7:44Maybe they're extremely well-rounded.
- 7:47Holly says, I can't keep track of the teams.
- 7:49Otherwise, it's a selfish move.
- 7:52We appreciate it, Holly.
- 7:53Yes, we for sure do.
- 7:56Um, so, so we had that.
- 7:58Then we go into, um, the swim event with, uh, and I say swim event.
- 8:06I quickly learned it was not a swim event.
- 8:08It was a burpee event over the world.
- 8:11Can you communicate on the worm?
- 8:14Yep.
- 8:16And, uh, any, I'll, I'll let you guys go first.
- 8:20Any initial thoughts on what you saw?
- 8:23Well, I just thought it was interesting on the girls event how everybody was expecting, you know, ice barrel to take first and they did not.
- 8:34I saw that graphic come up and Chase and I'm saying that like this is the fan favorite and this was the heat one favorite and I was like, who picked them?
- 8:42I would have never, I mean, that wasn't my kid.
- 8:45Yeah, I went with frog grips and I was not even close.
- 8:49I know.
- 8:50Same.
- 8:51I was super excited to see, though, how well Kelsey and Kelly Baker and that team, how they did on that.
- 8:58That was great.
- 8:59They did great.
- 9:00They did good on the run.
- 9:02Because the next event is going to be awesome for them.
- 9:08They can cycle barbells.
- 9:11Kelly's great at handstand pushups.
- 9:14Yep.
- 9:16it's going to be, it's going to be an amazing event for them.
- 9:19They could be sitting in a podium spot come tomorrow morning.
- 9:24Agreed.
- 9:25Yeah.
- 9:26This is one of those events where it's like, I wish we knew kind of like yesterday's, like we don't know the distance of these swims and it seems like they kind of
- 9:35check the water in the morning and decide.
- 9:36Like they extended the swim yesterday for the individuals, which made it a swim event.
- 9:41So if you picked the swimmer, you did good.
- 9:43I went with swimmers, you did too, obviously, but that was negligible.
- 9:47I mean, really it was their burpee cadence because there were people who were great swimmers who got back and they weren't even done burpees.
- 9:52So you didn't really necessarily want to pick the swimmers.
- 9:56Yeah.
- 9:56It was interesting to see the different strategies played out on that.
- 10:01Yeah.
- 10:01And I, and I'm thinking the whole time, like in my swimming prime, would I sprint it and be able to rest or would I go 80% and just be able to move straight in?
- 10:15Like, how would I attack that?
- 10:19Yeah.
- 10:20Yeah.
- 10:21I feel like for me, I would, I would want to get back and have a rest, but I'm saying I would, I'm really motivated by rest.
- 10:27So I would definitely go, go hard so I could rest.
- 10:29Yeah.
- 10:30I'll tell you what, Saxon swimming has gotten so good.
- 10:33Holy cow, that was amazing.
- 10:34And talk about, hey, if this was a big one about communication, you got Roman on your team, they figured it out.
- 10:41They did.
- 10:42They did.
- 10:43They did great.
- 10:44Back to Kelly and Kelsey and Emil, they've all been to the games on teams.
- 10:51And they all know how to do it.
- 10:53Yeah.
- 10:54Right.
- 10:55Well, Kelly's never been to either of them at the games.
- 10:59Correct.
- 11:00But Emily and Kelsey have worked together so they can work together.
- 11:03And so like their twosomes probably have like great communication.
- 11:09Yeah.
- 11:10Well, and Kelsey and Kelly are best friends.
- 11:12Right.
- 11:12Beyond competition.
- 11:14So I'm sure they have a language that isn't even CrossFit related.
- 11:20Yeah.
- 11:21Yeah.
- 11:23So that, that was super fun for me to see, um, them.
- 11:26Then we go to the men and it was, it was a battle.
- 11:29Um, it was a battle between pixel, which is Saxon and Roman and, uh,
- 11:36I thought Ombre's were going to pull off second, but they ended up with third.
- 11:40I forget what Justin Medeiros' team was, but their team name.
- 11:44Go Wad.
- 11:46Yeah, they took second.
- 11:47I expected Go Wad.
- 11:49I expected Jay Crouch to catch maybe, I mean, at least be very close to Saxon, and that just didn't happen.
- 11:57Saxon's improved that much.
- 12:02Yeah, he held off Jay Crouch, and
- 12:05Jay Crouch is an elite athlete now.
- 12:08Like he is a top five, top, like he's a contender for top five.
- 12:13Now he has shown over the last year that he is.
- 12:17Yeah.
- 12:18I forgot Jorge Fernandez for team pixel, but Jay Crouch is going to be fun to watch in the next, in this next season.
- 12:31Uh,
- 12:33So we had that and it was an epic battle.
- 12:36But in the first heat, there was Complex Wodex, which actually took second.
- 12:42Crushed it.
- 12:43Holy cow.
- 12:44Who even was that?
- 12:47Don't even know.
- 12:48What's the team name again?
- 12:49I saw them because the camera never moved off of them.
- 12:54Yeah.
- 12:54What's the team name?
- 12:56Complex Wodex.
- 13:03Christian Paccio Mario lots of names I can't pronounce Samuel Zalami okay well good for them I think that's what's cool about Wadapalooza too is athletes like this that may have a specialty get showed off they get to have their day in the sun lack of
- 13:30I kind of wondered if the go odds, touch and go, clean and jerk was going to pay off, but I mean, not quite enough.
- 13:39Yeah.
- 13:40I wonder how much it fatigued them.
- 13:42That's what I'm wondering.
- 13:45Because you don't want a fatigued back going into a swim.
- 13:49Nope.
- 13:51But they still did well.
- 13:54Yeah, I have to say.
- 13:55I think they took third.
- 13:56Ombre took fourth.
- 13:59I had one question here for you two.
- 14:02Does Noah look small on a team with Chandler and Tola?
- 14:07Yeah.
- 14:08A little bit.
- 14:09And less jacked.
- 14:11So it's so funny you say that.
- 14:12I'm sitting here watching it, and I'm like, oh, my gosh.
- 14:16Chandler looks jacked, like jacked, jacked.
- 14:19And Scott was like, what do you mean jacked, jacked?
- 14:21And I was like, they all look jacked, but he just looks so huge.
- 14:28And Tola came out of the water, and I was like, good Lord.
- 14:31Totally.
- 14:32Like he's chiseled out of granite.
- 14:34Yeah.
- 14:36Tola is a unit.
- 14:37That is accurate description.
- 14:38But their team name is literally my favorite.
- 14:41I think it's the most creative.
- 14:43I do like that one.
- 14:47Thick.
- 14:49Thick boys.
- 14:50Yeah.
- 14:53Tola swam really well.
- 14:55I thought he would get caught and he did not.
- 14:57Nope.
- 14:58I almost thought Roman was going to grab his legs in the water.
- 15:02I was like, they're pretty close.
- 15:04I know.
- 15:05There was a comment made by Brian Friend while Tola was swimming.
- 15:10I believe it was.
- 15:11He said that Travis was on the team with Chandler and Noah last year.
- 15:17They replaced him so that Noah would have some opportunities to work as a team with Tola.
- 15:30Is he changing the construct of his team after Chandler had a
- 15:35top five finish at the games last year.
- 15:37Interesting.
- 15:41I hadn't heard that, but it was a speculated that Rick under, under the radar comment made during the event that I picked up on.
- 15:50And I was like, Hmm, I wonder, I missed that commentary.
- 15:56Very interesting.
- 15:57Could be.
- 15:59Yeah.
- 16:02Um,
- 16:04So, so there's that, uh, we don't have, I'm sure that the leaderboard is not updated for the men after that.
- 16:13They do have scores in there, but it is not, it's still red.
- 16:19Yeah, they do.
- 16:20Oh, so do you want the run?
- 16:24The run was go WOD tier.
- 16:26Okay.
- 16:29pixel Saxon, Roman and Jorge.
- 16:32Yeah.
- 16:32Uh, strapping young lads, James Sprague, uh, Jack Farlow.
- 16:39Um, and ombre hombres was fifth.
- 16:43Okay.
- 16:44Trace Laches wasn't up there.
- 16:47Eighth.
- 16:49Okay.
- 16:50Yeah.
- 16:52I feel like, I don't know if the BKG substitution, I don't even know, like,
- 16:57I don't know if more Ed would have been better or worse, but they're not quite hitting it for me.
- 17:04Ooh, look at this.
- 17:05Carolyn coming in.
- 17:09That's Ernest and Lena.
- 17:11Oh.
- 17:14Wow.
- 17:16Lena from Osmo Blue?
- 17:19Yeah.
- 17:22Interesting.
- 17:24Yeah.
- 17:24Hmm.
- 17:26I think I have a new favorite team.
- 17:28Yeah.
- 17:31That would be an interesting team to watch.
- 17:36Yeah.
- 17:37Tola is such a good team athlete.
- 17:39Yeah.
- 17:40I'd love him as a team athlete.
- 17:43Noah might be the shortest one on the team.
- 17:49I think he might be.
- 17:53It's between him and Lena.
- 17:55It will be.
- 17:57They'll have to partner for more things.
- 17:59Ooh, I moved to third place on our board.
- 18:05Hey.
- 18:07I know that Matilda and Tola will have to team up for Synchro.
- 18:14Yeah.
- 18:14Yeah.
- 18:15That's actually a good man.
- 18:17That's, like, well-balanced.
- 18:22Look at our insider, Carolyn Prevost.
- 18:24Thanks, Carolyn.
- 18:30All right, so tonight we have, it starts with the handstand mess.
- 18:41Starts with strict handstand push-ups, goes to regular handstand push-ups, 40 strict, 60 regular.
- 18:48One person rests, one person's in a hold, one person does the work.
- 18:54Yes.
- 18:55Yes.
- 18:57And then they move to synchro that barbell mess.
- 19:01Double unders.
- 19:02Two people synchro the double unders, one person rest.
- 19:05Then it's all three on the barbell, which we don't know.
- 19:08Yeah, we're unsure how that's going to play out.
- 19:12Yeah.
- 19:13Or how they're going to, because we said, are they going to put them in a line?
- 19:17Are they going to put them in a circle?
- 19:18Right.
- 19:21And it's a complex of deadlifts, front squats.
- 19:27Pain cleans, I think.
- 19:28Pain cleans.
- 19:30Yeah, I think so.
- 19:32Is it still on Bayfront, on the barge?
- 19:36No, I think it's at Flagler.
- 19:37Good.
- 19:38Okay.
- 19:39I like that better.
- 19:41So that's tonight.
- 19:43I only have two things left.
- 19:47Broadcast.
- 19:47We've been talking about it every day.
- 19:51I actually think it took a step back today.
- 19:55Dang.
- 19:57Right, and mostly, and I'm going first just to protect you two.
- 20:04I think the camera shots were terrible.
- 20:07They did not move around enough to let us know who was where.
- 20:14It was, in the women, we saw two lanes the entire time.
- 20:21It was awful.
- 20:22The men, they did a little bit better, but it was still awful.
- 20:26if you weren't in the top three, we didn't see you.
- 20:31And, and the, the, the scoring at the top is so jacked up.
- 20:40You can't even keep track of anything with that.
- 20:45Yeah.
- 20:45It was better for the women, but then the men started, I was like, Oh, they're not even there.
- 20:49It's totally messed up.
- 20:51Then they try to bring it up, but yeah, it's, it, that's frustrating.
- 20:54Yeah.
- 20:56Do you have any input into the broadcast today?
- 20:59I feel like even John kind of was not frustrated, but I think he pointed that out.
- 21:06He's like, well, if they would show you down here, he even said that at one point.
- 21:12He kind of wanted to talk about another team, but nobody's letting them move to give some other information.
- 21:21I was hopeful because Hamilton Road is not doing this one.
- 21:24This is a new company out of Miami.
- 21:26And I thought that it might be different.
- 21:30And I thought for a bit yesterday, it got better.
- 21:33And then today they went back to, oh, if you're not in the lead, we don't get to see you at all.
- 21:41I just don't understand that.
- 21:44And what's worse is...
- 21:46they were the two teams that were winning on the women's were on the ends.
- 21:50So you don't even get to see another team because it's the end lane and there's nobody beside them and they angled out.
- 21:58So behind them is just empty space instead of like going out and going in.
- 22:04I don't know.
- 22:06It just seems simple to me, but maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.
- 22:10Yeah.
- 22:11It really does seem simple.
- 22:13I like, I don't know.
- 22:14Yeah.
- 22:14I think you could have gone from lane one and went lane 15 and then occasionally had a middle camera and just.
- 22:21Yeah.
- 22:21You'd be able to.
- 22:23Yeah.
- 22:24Like split screen lane one and lane 15 in you'll catch most of the race and occasionally drop out one of those angles with the center.
- 22:32Because you're missing that center view if you're always from that angle.
- 22:36I feel like those middle teams are never going to get featured.
- 22:39They're always going to be in your far view.
- 22:41But it doesn't need to be all up in someone's butt on burpees.
- 22:46Let's just leave it out.
- 22:47Let's see four teams racing and the pace they're going and whatnot.
- 22:52Let's see a race and then swap one camera angle.
- 22:56Okay, here's another four teams.
- 22:58I don't know.
- 22:59Unless you're showing me Tola's abs, I don't need close-ups.
- 23:04Yeah.
- 23:05I'm over the closeups.
- 23:07I mean, we see it in the gym every day.
- 23:09That's what we do.
- 23:10Like, I don't know, maybe that's better for the general public.
- 23:13Maybe that draws in some people watching.
- 23:15I have no idea.
- 23:16I, I feel like we're all in sports bras every day.
- 23:21It's, and this is nothing new.
- 23:22Like, let's just see the race on the floor.
- 23:24I don't need to see closeups of bodies.
- 23:26We've been drawing those people in for 10 years.
- 23:29Now we need to draw in the other people.
- 23:31Yeah.
- 23:31Yeah.
- 23:34There we go.
- 23:37So my last point, this is going to be a riff.
- 23:40And if you guys want to jump in, you're more than welcome to.
- 23:44So yesterday it was reported.
- 23:46Hiller made a video about it.
- 23:49Yvonne talked about it on the show that Talking Elite Fitness, who is the hired broadcast team for Tearwaterpalooza, title sponsor Tear Shoes,
- 24:06They, in their after-party show, are sponsored by Reebok.
- 24:13So they go off-site, they do an after-party show, and they're sponsored by Reebok.
- 24:19Both Hiller and Savan made the comment that that was a bad taste, that the company that's paying you to come be the broadcaster is surviving because here is paying the bill.
- 24:33And then you are going off-site and doing...
- 24:38A wrap-up show sponsored by their competitor.
- 24:41I'm surprised there's not something in their contract.
- 24:44I am surprised as well.
- 24:46Agreed.
- 24:46So now let me take it a step further.
- 24:48Last night when I was going through some stuff, Lauren Khalil, part of Talking Elite Fitness, is getting on-site interviews on the floor.
- 25:02on the floor where the big tier logo is getting access to the floor and do the interviews through her job as TEF.
- 25:11And she is promoting Reebok in her posts on Instagram.
- 25:18Then Brian friend and, um, Bella Martin are on the floor on the floor.
- 25:27Like Lauren was off the floor interviewing Danielle Brandon and,
- 25:32Brian and Bella were on the floor doing a wrap-up show, and they were sponsored by Strike Movement, another shoe company.
- 25:47Their show was sponsored?
- 25:49Sorry, their wrap-up show was sponsored by a different?
- 25:51Correct.
- 25:53But you're on the floor of Wadapalooza.
- 25:59Okay, so how would that be different if we were on the floor talking about the CrossFit Games?
- 26:06Let's say Noble CrossFit Games, right?
- 26:08But we're sponsored by somebody else, but we're just an independent.
- 26:12I wouldn't.
- 26:13Me personally, if I'm out there, I'm not mentioning that sponsor.
- 26:17Okay, sure.
- 26:17We may not mention it, but it might be factual.
- 26:21Right.
- 26:21And I'm not.
- 26:22Right.
- 26:22They're mentioning it.
- 26:23Okay.
- 26:24Right.
- 26:24Right.
- 26:26they're promoting it.
- 26:29And the only reason they have access to that is because really through a third party tier is paying them.
- 26:39And they have access to the floor that none of the rest of us have.
- 26:43To then go out and then promote other brands I think is not above board.
- 26:50And I know Carolyn is typing a novel.
- 26:52I have not read it all yet.
- 26:55Yeah.
- 26:56I mean, her, her point is that's not being brought up on loud and lives broadcast.
- 27:02They only mentioned here it's when talking like fitness or be friendly posts posts, they are bringing up their sponsors.
- 27:13Um,
- 27:16To me, I get where Carolyn's coming from, and it seems fine and dandy, I guess, and I haven't looked closely enough.
- 27:26Is Lauren out there on the floor in Reebok shoes, and is Brian out there on the floor in Strike Movement shoes, or have they been asked to wear tier and support tier, because that's what's mostly on the broadcast, and obviously they're out there on the floor.
- 27:41So, I mean, I feel like if they're...
- 27:45I'd be very curious on that.
- 27:46Are they, are they supporting tier as best as they can, but when they post their own private, their own pages, they're putting she's in tier on the floor and broadcast.
- 27:56I mean, I, it's kind of what you're going to have to do.
- 27:59I'm sure that's what tier asked them to do.
- 28:03And then their own posts on their own channels when it's not loud and lives production is.
- 28:08So, I mean, you know, you have, you know, the agreement we signed when we go to the CrossFit games.
- 28:16If we mention a sponsor that is not theirs in any post, we get our media credentials removed.
- 28:30Yeah.
- 28:31But to Carolyn's point here is we don't know what the media credential process was here or what their contracts say.
- 28:40We don't have that info.
- 28:44I think it's in bad taste.
- 28:46in my opinion, it's something that I would never do if I'm, especially if I'm being paid by the event.
- 28:53I think that's what, and even when I'm not paid by the event, like I never brought up C4 at the games or I never brought up C4 at semifinals because I know CrossFit has deals with other drink companies.
- 29:08Sure.
- 29:09But we also, we have to look at this, though, as talking elite fitness.
- 29:13I mean, they've been in the game as professionals longer than, you know, than we have.
- 29:20And they would have more, you know, savvy about what the expectations are and what would be in poor taste.
- 29:28And I don't think they would do, I don't think Tommy or Sean would do anything that would put them at risk for not being able to do their jobs.
- 29:39Yeah.
- 29:40I mean, all products need some promotion in our space and like that'd be, I feel in a way, I almost feel like that'd be like tier not allowing the athletes to wear anything other than tear out on the floor.
- 29:57I, I don't know.
- 30:02Maybe I just in the media world, like,
- 30:06I've signed like rogue.
- 30:08I've signed media contracts, games.
- 30:12I've signed contracts.
- 30:13I'm sure I did one for what a Palooza last year.
- 30:15I could look it up and see what it says.
- 30:19Um, but most of the media contracts we sign say you cannot use a competing or any pictures for a competing company.
- 30:33The fact that they're on the floor of the drinking event and promoting a different sponsor just seems very against everything that I have ever signed as a media person.
- 30:52Yeah, I get what Carolyn's saying.
- 30:55It's clearly all tears, whatever tear outlined, and they obviously don't mind.
- 31:04Yeah.
- 31:05I was just curious your thoughts.
- 31:07It was a slow day.
- 31:08This is a point that Carolyn says though.
- 31:11True.
- 31:12She is a tier athlete.
- 31:16Yeah.
- 31:17Oh, I'm just telling you, you saw, you know, the media contracts we sign, they're not short.
- 31:23They're very specific about what we can't, um,
- 31:27what we can't say, what we can't promote.
- 31:31And it just seems like the wild west at Wadapalooza this year.
- 31:35And I've never seen that at any other major competition in CrossFit.
- 31:41So maybe Wadapalooza didn't put in their contract this year.
- 31:44So everybody went nuts.
- 31:46I don't know because I didn't go down this year.
- 31:48So I don't know what this year's contract looks like.
- 31:53Rogue probably is extremely protective.
- 31:55And then the games is a whole different.
- 31:58And this is not a CrossFit licensed event.
- 31:59So it's not going to have any of that what you're used to.
- 32:03Wadapalooza probably doesn't care.
- 32:05They clearly are a giant moneymaker festival.
- 32:09And Tears has obviously run the numbers and figured out that this is going to be worth it for them or not.
- 32:18And maybe things will change next year or not.
- 32:23Yeah, I was less upset about it when they were doing the post show off site.
- 32:30Right?
- 32:31Yeah, that makes more sense to me.
- 32:32Yeah, for sure.
- 32:33And you're sponsored by Reebok.
- 32:34I can get that.
- 32:36When you're standing on the floor and have access because of the job you have,
- 32:41And then you're promoting another brand.
- 32:45Just seems very off what I've done before.
- 32:47But I will let rest.
- 32:49On the flip side, don't you think it would be a violation of your other contract that you are on the tier floor if, you know, promoting their other shoe company?
- 33:04That's what would have struck me.
- 33:07I would feel like one of Brian's contracts with Strike Movement is to wear them.
- 33:12But he's probably had to put a caveat on that.
- 33:18If you are going to an event like this, if Strike Movement wants Brian there for more notoriety and here is asking him to wear stuff on the floor, they're going to have to cave on their end.
- 33:35I got thoughts.
- 33:39I asked for him.
- 33:40I got him.
- 33:40Yeah, you did.
- 33:43But with that, um, I think they're just about ready to hit the floor again, like six 40 or something.
- 33:53So we'll go ahead and, uh, call it a night and everybody enjoy the rest of the broadcast.
- 33:59We'll be back on Monday to wrap up all of water Palooza.
- 34:04Um,
- 34:06as it's going to be like three degrees here.
- 34:10Nobody wants to go out anyway, and it's a holiday.
- 34:13So probably look mid-afternoon for a wrap-up show on Monday.
- 34:17With that, we'll catch everybody next time on Glasgow Media Wadapalooza Wrap-Up Show.
- 34:23Bye, guys.
