Speaker 1: On behalf of the Kroger Company, and we operate about
• 0:04
Speaker 1: twenty seven hundred supermarkets, and orderly transition of equipment reduces
• 0:10
Speaker 1: both capital costs and operating costs, and at the end
• 0:14
Speaker 1: of the day, that's good for consumers because we're able
• 0:18
Speaker 1: to take that and put that into lowering prices, which
• 0:22
Speaker 1: is the key objectives that we.
• 0:23
Speaker 2: Have in our business.
• 0:24
Speaker 1: So thank you very much.
• 0:26
Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
• 0:30
Speaker 4: Good Saturday morning. Nice to have you with us on
• 0:32
Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got two stories
• 0:35
Speaker 4: for you. First up, Democrats being called out for the
• 0:39
Speaker 4: jerrymandering that they've created in this country and now Republicans
• 0:42
Speaker 4: are fighting back and winning. Up next, a Republican Spencer
• 0:47
Speaker 4: Pratt may actually become the mayor of la Democrats are
• 0:52
Speaker 4: losing their minds, So how did they get to this point?
• 0:55
Speaker 4: We'll give you that as well. It's a forty seven
• 0:58
Speaker 4: Morning Update and it starts right now. Story number one
• 1:02
Speaker 4: yesterday I played for you Kamala Harris and how she
• 1:05
Speaker 4: wants to completely destroy the fundamentals of this country. She
• 1:09
Speaker 4: wants to pack the Supreme Court, even kick Justice off
• 1:12
Speaker 4: the Supreme Court when they give rulings she doesn't like,
• 1:14
Speaker 4: and then she wants to get rid of the Electoral
• 1:16
Speaker 4: College all together. Now you may be asking yourself this
• 1:19
Speaker 4: question why all of this is coming because they didn't
• 1:23
Speaker 4: get their way. Donald Trump won Conservatives one. And when
• 1:27
Speaker 4: you hate the other side and you don't respect the
• 1:30
Speaker 4: law or the wishes of the citizens of this country,
• 1:34
Speaker 4: well that's exactly what you would do, especially if you're
• 1:36
Speaker 4: a communist and Marxists are a socialist. Stacy Abrams is
• 1:40
Speaker 4: now coming out explaining why Democrats are so distraught over
• 1:45
Speaker 4: the Scotis ruling against racially jerrymander districts. She also is
• 1:51
Speaker 4: upset at the power that the Democratic Party is going
• 1:54
Speaker 4: to lose. Now, before I play her comments, I just
• 1:57
Speaker 4: want to go back and set the stage to how
• 1:59
Speaker 4: we got to the point where we are right now.
• 2:02
Speaker 4: Democrats have been acting like they're the victims of gerrymandering
• 2:06
Speaker 4: for decades, but the reality is that's not true. Democrats
• 2:11
Speaker 4: have actually been masters of gerrymandering, especially in deep blue
• 2:16
Speaker 4: states where Republican voters are essentially a race from congressional
• 2:21
Speaker 4: representation altogether. And if Americans want proof, just look at
• 2:26
Speaker 4: the states where there are literally zero Republican members of
• 2:31
Speaker 4: Congress in the US House representing the Conservatives in those
• 2:36
Speaker 4: states right now. States include Connecticut zero republicans, Delaware zero republicans,
• 2:44
Speaker 4: Hawaii zero republicans in Congress, Massachusetts zero Republicans in Congress,
• 2:51
Speaker 4: New Hampshire another zero, Rhode Island zero, Vermont zero, and
• 2:57
Speaker 4: effectively Maine has no Republican representation in Congress whatsoever. Now,
• 3:02
Speaker 4: if you just think about that for a second, that
• 3:04
Speaker 4: is millions of Americans that have been disenfranchised living in
• 3:09
Speaker 4: those states that vote Republican and presidential elections, governor races,
• 3:14
Speaker 4: Senate races, and local elections. Yet somehow, when it comes
• 3:18
Speaker 4: to congressional districts, Republicans are entirely wiped off the map
• 3:23
Speaker 4: on purpose. In fact, this has been part of a
• 3:27
Speaker 4: long term political strategy in blue states. Democrats perfected the
• 3:32
Speaker 4: art of concentrating Republican voters into a few districts as
• 3:36
Speaker 4: possible and then spreading them so thinly that they can
• 3:40
Speaker 4: never actually win representation. Meanwhile, those same Democrats are going
• 3:45
Speaker 4: on television every day now pretending that they are defenders
• 3:49
Speaker 4: of quote, fair maps and democracy. Yeah, the hypocrisy is
• 3:55
Speaker 4: quote unquote unbelievable, but it's really not if you've been
• 3:58
Speaker 4: paying attention to what's been happening all over the country
• 4:01
  Speaker 4: for decades.
• 4:02
Speaker 2: Just take Massachusetts for example.
• 4:04
Speaker 4: Republicans routinely receive hundreds of thousands of votes statewide, yet
• 4:10
Speaker 4: Democrats hold every single congressional seat. The same thing happens
• 4:14
Speaker 4: in Rhode Island, the same thing happens in Connecticut, the
• 4:18
Speaker 4: same thing happens in Hawaii. Republicans may as well not
• 4:22
Speaker 4: exist according to the congressional representation. And this isn't just
• 4:27
Speaker 4: about geography. It's also about power because congressional districts determine
• 4:34
Speaker 4: who controls the House of Representatives. That determines who has
• 4:38
Speaker 4: the committee chairmanships, who is in charge of the investigations
• 4:42
Speaker 4: or impeachments, who's in charge of spending, border security, taxes, regulations,
• 4:49
Speaker 4: literally everything. That's why the Democratic Party has been doing this,
• 4:54
Speaker 4: and that's why now Republicans are fighting over the map
• 4:58
Speaker 4: so aggressively. Here's what Democrats never want to admit. They
• 5:03
Speaker 4: were perfectly fine with aggressive redistricting when they controlled the process,
• 5:09
Speaker 4: and for decades, Democrats used urban political machines, court systems,
• 5:15
Speaker 4: state legislatures and activist groups to shape districts in their favor.
• 5:20
Speaker 4: In many states, they created maps so lopsided that competitive
• 5:24
Speaker 4: congressional races effectively disappeared altogether. Now suddenly, when Republicans fight
• 5:31
Speaker 4: back in states like Texas and Florida or Tennessee, Democrats
• 5:36
Speaker 4: scream from the hilltops and yell racism.
• 5:39
Speaker 2: The media narrative is.
• 5:40
Speaker 4: Well always as saying, if Republicans redraw maps, it's called
• 5:44
Speaker 4: an attack on democracy, But when Democrats literally implement the
• 5:48
Speaker 4: same maps, it's called protecting representation and minorities. Americans they're
• 5:55
Speaker 4: tired of the double standard, especially if you're a conservative,
• 5:58
Speaker 4: and the numbers, by the way, they don't lie. Just
• 6:01
Speaker 4: look at Illinois, one of the most aggressively jerrymannered states
• 6:05
Speaker 4: in America. Republicans regularly receive forty five percent in statewide votes,
• 6:12
Speaker 4: yet Democrats dominate the congressional delegation because the maps are
• 6:17
Speaker 4: perfectly engineered to maximize democratic seats. Maryland became infamous for
• 6:24
Speaker 4: bizarrely shaped districts designed specifically to weaken Republican voters. New
• 6:30
Speaker 4: York Democrats openly laughed and attempted aggressive mid decade redistricting
• 6:35
Speaker 4: to gain more congressional seats before the courts were forced
• 6:39
Speaker 4: to step in, and California system may technically involve a commission,
• 6:44
Speaker 4: but the end result is still a delegation overwhelmingly tilted
• 6:48
Speaker 4: towards the left, towards Democrats, and state were millions and
• 6:53
Speaker 4: that's not exaggeration. Millions of Republicans live and vote. And
• 6:58
Speaker 4: here's the broader point Americans need to understand. Jerry mannering
• 7:02
Speaker 4: is not some unique Republican phenomenon, if you even want
• 7:05
Speaker 4: to call it that. It is a bipartisan political weapon.
• 7:09
Speaker 4: Republicans are decades late to the game. The difference is
• 7:13
Speaker 4: Republicans are finally fighting back and it's about time after
• 7:18
Speaker 4: years of taking it on the chin watching Democrats dominate
• 7:21
Speaker 4: the process. Even major media outlets are now forced to
• 7:25
Speaker 4: admit that redistricting wars are escalating nationwide. Both parties aggressively
• 7:30
Speaker 4: pursuing partisan advantages ahead of the midterm elections. And let's
• 7:35
Speaker 4: be honest about why this matters so much. Right now,
• 7:38
Speaker 4: the margins in Congress are raizor thin. You've got a
• 7:42
Speaker 4: handful of districts that can determine who becomes Speaker of
• 7:44
Speaker 4: the House, which party controls investigations, whether tax cuts survive,
• 7:50
Speaker 4: whether border security legislation passes, and whether Donald Trump's agenda
• 7:54
Speaker 4: that America clearly voted for moves forward or gets buried. Now,
• 7:59
Speaker 4: that's why Democrats are panicking. That's why people like states
• 8:03
Speaker 4: they Abrams are coming out on TV playing the race
• 8:06
Speaker 4: card and also warning about what Republicans are about to
• 8:10
Speaker 4: do and how it can be so damaging because they've been.
• 8:13
Speaker 2: The masters of it for years.
• 8:15
Speaker 4: The same Democrats who've been gerrymannering for decades are now
• 8:19
Speaker 4: playing the race card. So let's not be lectured by
• 8:23
Speaker 4: the Democrats on fairness while they maintain states with zero
• 8:27
Speaker 4: Republican representation. Don't pretend Parson maps are evil only when
• 8:31
Speaker 4: Republicans are the ones drawing them now, and don't act
• 8:35
Speaker 4: like millions of conservative voters in blue states somehow deserve
• 8:38
Speaker 4: no voice in Congress, because that's exactly what they've been
• 8:41
  Speaker 4: doing for the.
• 8:42
Speaker 2: Last twenty plus years. The left.
• 8:45
Speaker 4: They spent decades building political fortresses in blue states and
• 8:50
Speaker 4: accusing Republicans of doing precisely the same thing elsewhere, and
• 8:54
Speaker 4: now the country's waking up to it. At the end
• 8:56
Speaker 4: of the day, This debate is really about political power,
• 8:59
Speaker 4: who has it, who keeps it, and who controls Washington.
• 9:03
Speaker 4: And if Democrats know that, if Republicans continue gaining ground
• 9:08
Speaker 4: with working class voters, Hispanic voters, union households, suburban parents,
• 9:13
Speaker 4: and independents, then the only way to maintain powers in
• 9:17
Speaker 4: some places is through district maps designed to protect incumbents
• 9:21
Speaker 4: and lock in those advantages. Well, now that seems to
• 9:25
Speaker 4: be all over and Republicans are doing exactly what they
• 9:29
Speaker 4: should do. Fighting back next story number two. You remember
• 9:33
Speaker 4: those wildfires that started in LA. Remember how the reservoirs
• 9:38
Speaker 4: were empty, and remember the incompetence because of the leadership
• 9:42
Speaker 4: in LA, including an incompetent fire chief, and the bickering
• 9:46
Speaker 4: and fighting back and forth as houses burned to the ground. Well,
• 9:51
Speaker 4: you would think they would have learned from those empty reservoirs.
• 9:55
Speaker 4: Apparently they've learned nothing at all, because some of them
• 9:59
Speaker 4: are still boned as we speak, and that's having a
• 10:03
Speaker 4: real impact on the election in LA.
• 10:06
Speaker 2: The political liberal radical.
• 10:09
Speaker 4: Establishment in LA is facing a nightmare scenario that they
• 10:14
Speaker 4: never thought was even possible. A conservative outsider is surging
• 10:19
Speaker 4: in one of the bluest major cities, in America and
• 10:22
Speaker 4: Democrats they're openly panicking and now they're worried they may
• 10:28
Speaker 4: lose control of the narrative and a city that they've
• 10:31
Speaker 4: dominated for decades and destroyed with crime and drugs and
• 10:35
Speaker 4: pretty much every other liberal idea that's been a disaster. Now,
• 10:40
Speaker 4: let me also explain to you exactly who's in this race.
• 10:44
Speaker 4: You have a guy by the name of Spencer Pratt.
• 10:47
Speaker 4: He's a former reality TV personality. By the way, LA
• 10:51
Speaker 4: makes a lot of those, But they want you to
• 10:52
Speaker 4: think that that means he's not a serious candidate.
• 10:56
Speaker 2: And how did he turn himself into a political insurgent. Well,
• 10:59
  Speaker 2: it's pretty simple.
• 11:01
Speaker 4: His house burned down in those fires and that irritated him.
• 11:06
Speaker 4: Because this race has become much bigger than just Los Angeles,
• 11:10
  Speaker 4: it's also getting a lot of attention. It's becoming a
• 11:13
Speaker 4: national warning sign for Democrats who are mismanaging cities with
• 11:17
Speaker 4: high crime and high poverty and failing schools. For years,
• 11:22
Speaker 4: Democrats treated LA like an untouchable political territory. It's a
• 11:27
Speaker 4: city where progressive politics dominated nearly every institution, city hall,
• 11:32
Speaker 4: the media, Hollywood academia, activist organizations, and most local elections.
• 11:38
Speaker 4: Republicans weren't even expected to compete seriously there anymore. Ever,
• 11:43
Speaker 4: and then suddenly, according to recent polling, Praudus surge in
• 11:48
Speaker 4: second place in the mayoral race, ahead of major establishment
• 11:52
Speaker 4: back candidates and within striking distance of the woman in
• 11:56
Speaker 4: charge of LA, Karen Bass. This could be a pullet earthquake.
• 12:01
Speaker 4: Democrats understand something very clearly. If a conservative populis style
• 12:07
Speaker 4: candidate very much like Donald Trump could become competitive in La,
• 12:12
Speaker 4: then no democratic run city in America is truly safe anymore,
• 12:16
Speaker 4: especially after there's a major moment like a wildfire or anarchy,
• 12:22
Speaker 4: riots or things like that. And that's exactly why it's happening,
• 12:26
Speaker 4: because voters in LA, well, they've had enough of the politics.
• 12:31
  Speaker 2: And they're furious.
• 12:33
Speaker 4: What are they angry over out of control homelessness, They're
• 12:38
Speaker 4: angry over crime. They're also angry over the costs of living,
• 12:43
Speaker 4: and they're furious over the failed leadership very much cause
• 12:47
Speaker 4: those wildfires to grow. They're furious over government incompetence even
• 12:53
Speaker 4: after the fires happen, and they're especially furious over the
• 12:57
Speaker 4: aftermath of realizing that the people that claim they were
• 13:01
Speaker 4: going to be there to help them rebuild, have done
• 13:04
Speaker 4: anything but do that. In fact, they've showed no effort
• 13:09
Speaker 4: to follow up on rebuilding a city that's been destroyed.
• 13:13
Speaker 4: The Palisade fires show just how bad the democratic machine
• 13:17
Speaker 4: actually is, and that is the issue that has now
• 13:20
  Speaker 4: changed everything.
• 13:22
  Speaker 2: Now.
• 13:22
Speaker 4: Pratt has aggressively positioned himself as the candidate of anger, frustration,
• 13:27
Speaker 4: and revolt against city hall. He's telling voters what many
• 13:31
Speaker 4: residents already feel, that the political class running LA has
• 13:35
Speaker 4: not only failed the city, but has failed them. And
• 13:38
Speaker 4: what's fascinating is how he's doing it. He's not running
• 13:42
Speaker 4: like a traditional Republican either. He's running like a populist
• 13:46
Speaker 4: who said enough is enough and are you with me?
• 13:50
Speaker 4: His campaign style mirrors what we've seen nationally in outsider movements,
• 13:55
Speaker 4: social media dominance, viral videos, anti establishment ran, blunt language,
• 14:02
Speaker 4: and direct a tax on city leadership. He's also a
• 14:05
Speaker 4: constant focus on quality of life and the failures of
• 14:10
Speaker 4: the Democratic Party. He's talking about homeless encampments that are
• 14:14
Speaker 4: out of control. He's talking about the federal crisis and
• 14:17
Speaker 4: the dead bodies. He's talking about public safety and how
• 14:21
Speaker 4: really no one feels safe in La anymore. He's also
• 14:24
Speaker 4: talking about urban decline, something Democrats don't want to admit.
• 14:28
Speaker 4: And he talks about taxpayers feeling totally abandoned while the
• 14:33
Speaker 4: political elite lecture them and take their money. Remember, LA
• 14:37
Speaker 4: is insanely expensive to live on top of the out
• 14:40
Speaker 4: of control taxation. And Democrats they're deeply uncomfortable because there
• 14:46
Speaker 4: are issues where voters increasingly believe conservatives actually have an advantage.
• 14:53
Speaker 2: That is the real story here.
• 14:56
Speaker 4: Now, this race is exposing the widening disconnect between progressive activists,
• 15:01
Speaker 4: you know, the Black Lives Matter movement that then turn
• 15:03
Speaker 4: into abolish the Police that then turned into burn down cities. Yeah,
• 15:08
Speaker 4: an ordinary working class voters, many of them that were
• 15:11
Speaker 4: Democrats who simply voted for them over and over again
• 15:16
Speaker 4: until now. And this is what really should terrify Democrats nationally.
• 15:21
Speaker 4: Pratt's support is not just coming from Republicans, even Democrats
• 15:27
Speaker 4: are supporting him. So now you understand why not only
• 15:31
Speaker 4: is LA a major race, but also the California governor
• 15:34
Speaker 4: candidates race. Was Steve Hilton, a Republican at eighteen point
• 15:39
Speaker 4: five percent, the billionaire Democrat liberal Tom Steyer at sixteen percent,
• 15:45
Speaker 4: Chad Beyonco, a Republican at thirteen percent. Yes, two of
• 15:49
Speaker 4: the three top leading California GUBERNORO candidates are Republicans right now,
• 15:54
Speaker 4: because it's not just La, it's literally the entire state
• 15:58
Speaker 4: they have destroyed. And that's exactly why the Democratic Party
• 16:04
Speaker 4: is freaking out right now trying to figure out how
• 16:07
Speaker 4: do they hold on to a place they never thought
• 16:09
Speaker 4: they could possibly lose.
