Transcript
- 0:21Speaker 1: You'd be eight years old right now. And as long
- 0:25Speaker 1: as the put us to the podcast, start over, everybody, Chester,
- 0:31Speaker 1: Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas. Everybody. Everybody's here. Chester was just
- 0:37Speaker 1: starting to tell something that I thought it was so
- 0:39Speaker 1: interesting sounding that I thought that everyone should hear. Yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 1: so Wisconsin is like the state for a lot of drinking,
- 0:47Speaker 1: a lot of drinking going on. But as a kid,
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'm sure about that when there a lot of drinking
- 0:56Speaker 1: going on in Wisconsin, states with highest alcohol. The truth
- 1:01Speaker 1: about Wisconsin t it's got to be. I heard when
- 1:04Speaker 1: I was in Wisconsin this year for rifle season. I
- 1:06Speaker 1: heard that there's more brandy consumed in one county of
- 1:11Speaker 1: Wisconsin than in the rest of the country. It wouldn't count.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I wouldn't put it past them because they like it,
- 1:17Speaker 1: throwing it in an old fashioned like a brandy old
- 1:23Speaker 1: fashioned sweet? Is it popular? One? Chester? You're right and
- 1:28Speaker 1: you're wrong. Okay, number eight number what's number one? New
- 1:34Speaker 1: Hampshire really four four point six seven gallons per person?
- 1:41Speaker 1: Delaware three point five two gallons per personally, Nevada number
- 1:46Speaker 1: three three point four two gallons. Montana's number five. So
- 1:50Speaker 1: you would have to start your story by saying something
- 1:52Speaker 1: like Wisconsin, what did I say, with less drinking than
- 1:57Speaker 1: where we're sitting now? What I say, but still more
- 2:02Speaker 1: than forty other states. I guess what I mean is
- 2:06Speaker 1: people like to drink, but people like to drink there,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and I don't I think this is legal. Don't quote
- 2:18Speaker 1: me on this, but it happens all the time when
- 2:22Speaker 1: but you're quoting yourself. This is, this is recorded. This
- 2:26Speaker 1: will exist until the Internet stops. Yeah, well, right right now.
- 2:37Speaker 1: If you're like, if it's okay with the bar and
- 2:41Speaker 1: the bartenders, if you're in a bar with your parents,
- 2:44Speaker 1: Let's say you're eight years old and they let you
- 2:46Speaker 1: have a beer. And as long as it's okay with
- 2:48Speaker 1: your parents and you're with your parents and the bartenders like, yep,
- 2:53Speaker 1: give him Miller, you can drink. M hmm. Here's the
- 2:59Speaker 1: problem with story like that. It can't be true. You
- 3:03Speaker 1: just say you say no. It's like it's so easy
- 3:07Speaker 1: to find out if that's true or not. It'll just
- 3:09Speaker 1: take a second Google. But I think that it was illegal,
- 3:11Speaker 1: but I think that's just how you were brought up.
- 3:13Speaker 1: It is true, and I know why, because there's no
- 3:16Speaker 1: drinking age. If you're with your parents. Because Kyle Rittenhouse,
- 3:21Speaker 1: the dude in the Kenosha thing, there was a big
- 3:24Speaker 1: story that he was seen in a bar with his
- 3:26Speaker 1: parents drinking beer. Um, despite being under age. How does
- 3:33Speaker 1: that make it true because it was observed? Yeah, but
- 3:37Speaker 1: I could observe you stealing my ship and that would
- 3:39Speaker 1: make no. No No. No. It wasn't like he was observed
- 3:42Speaker 1: doing something like illegal. It was like, this is a
- 3:44Speaker 1: thing that happened. And then the story I believe, had
- 3:47Speaker 1: an amendment, amendumdendm adendum in it's saying you can do
- 3:53Speaker 1: that in Wisconsin. M Again, who's just so usually so Yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 1: I'm trying to get there. No ship. Yes, persons underage
- 4:07Speaker 1: twenty one may possess and consume alcoholic beverages if they're
- 4:11Speaker 1: with their parents. I figured I was. But I am
- 4:19Speaker 1: saying stuff online where it will be around forever, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 1: just like you said. So with Kyle Rittenhouse, someone pointed
- 4:26Speaker 1: out like, well here's what I'll tell you, and they
- 4:29Speaker 1: somehow made it pertinent, like oh, I don't understand what nothing.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Merry Christmas? So that was just I can't remember what
- 4:42Speaker 1: we're talking about. Chester, Well, we were just talking about
- 4:44Speaker 1: drinking and Chris making a not Christmas drink. Very it's
- 4:53Speaker 1: it's pretty Christmas e it's Kevin's fancy meat eater, fancy
- 4:58Speaker 1: pants cocktail. It s got um hibiscus syrup in it,
- 5:03Speaker 1: which hibiscus is a flower that folks from the Caribbean
- 5:09Speaker 1: make a beverage out of with uh cloves and cinnamon
- 5:13Speaker 1: called cerell. So it's like a cerell syrup with um
- 5:19Speaker 1: lemon juice uh madera cecil which is a port fortified
- 5:27Speaker 1: like dry port wine from Portugal. And the main ingredient
- 5:32Speaker 1: is Satal from Desert Door, which is a distillery in Driftwood,
- 5:36Speaker 1: Texas that we went there. We went there, yep um,
- 5:40Speaker 1: and they the beverage's name is satal, which is the
- 5:44Speaker 1: same name of the plant satoll, which is the same
- 5:47Speaker 1: name as a plant. It looks kind of like it
- 5:50Speaker 1: looks like yeah um, and these dudes take it away,
- 5:55Speaker 1: so they're they're satoll is from wild satol. It's not
- 6:03Speaker 1: like they don't grow it in a agave farmer plantation.
- 6:08Speaker 1: They go out to big ranches or go out and
- 6:10Speaker 1: strike a deal with the rancher and clear like some
- 6:12Speaker 1: percentage of the satol on a place that's cool and
- 6:20Speaker 1: then ferment that ship and make that satoll Oh it's
- 6:23Speaker 1: good man. Oh yeah, I loved it. It's real good.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So wasn't that was fun? Made us all that food?
- 6:31Speaker 1: Oh it was great. So yeah, Jesse Griffith's um, I
- 6:35Speaker 1: was associated. He's got some of his food. That was
- 6:40Speaker 1: a snuggled snuggled baby orc. Yeah. Right, that was a
- 6:44Speaker 1: big day. Saw the stole place. We did a lot
- 6:49Speaker 1: of things. It was like a we had like an
- 6:50Speaker 1: adventure day. It's kind of like that when you go
- 6:54Speaker 1: down there with Jesse. Yeah he wasn't no not Yeah,
- 6:59Speaker 1: we like just missed him. But so Kevin Um created
- 7:04Speaker 1: the recipe for this cocktail. I'll put it in the
- 7:07Speaker 1: show notes um and if you guys want to try it,
- 7:12Speaker 1: you'll have all the info there. And Desert Door actually
- 7:16Speaker 1: just made their web shop live, so it's basically just
- 7:23Speaker 1: shop desert door dot com. And they're really cool distillery.
- 7:26Speaker 1: They're really interested in conservation. They have a nonprofit wing
- 7:31Speaker 1: called Wild Spirit Wild Places. Since it's tall as wild harvested,
- 7:36Speaker 1: they really um, you know, it's it's important to them
- 7:40Speaker 1: to keep the landscape healthy. So this wild plant continues
- 7:43Speaker 1: to grow great the least. The more you think about it,
- 7:53Speaker 1: the more you'll get the answer. Right, it's gotta be
- 7:55Speaker 1: some with like dry count good listen, Nope, you know what.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Those guys stick to their guns. Remember when I was
- 8:04Speaker 1: naming all the drinking amounts. Okay, so one point three
- 8:08Speaker 1: five gallons of alcohol consumption per capital. That's one point
- 8:14Speaker 1: three five as opposed to the winner at four point
- 8:22Speaker 1: six seven five times is drunk in that state? M Hm?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Where's Pennsylvania sit on the list? I'm curious somewhere in
- 8:31Speaker 1: the vast middleman because this goes to number ten, which
- 8:34Speaker 1: is South Dakota, because of the little tidbit they throw
- 8:38Speaker 1: in the least. Yeah, that's because it's hard to buy
- 8:42Speaker 1: beard gas stations in Pennsylvania. Chester Here, this will help
- 8:46Speaker 1: your story. Buddy, What city drinks the most alcohol? Milwaukee, Wisconsin? Nope, Nope, Madison, Kenosha,
- 8:57Speaker 1: Green Bay. Point five of the drink of the of
- 9:04Speaker 1: adults in that place, by definition, drink excessively. Most of
- 9:09Speaker 1: it happens on the ice or on the water. Well,
- 9:16Speaker 1: guess what state drinks the most beer? Mississippi. In New Hampshire,
- 9:25Speaker 1: they're drinking forty one five gallons of beer per person,
- 9:31Speaker 1: and the King of Beers is their favorite beer. I
- 9:34Speaker 1: thought it'd be a warm state. Oh, this is surprising
- 9:41Speaker 1: Christmas podcast. No, here's one you'll never guess. Here's there's
- 9:48Speaker 1: a lot of people that are drinking. No one in
- 9:53Speaker 1: this rum will guest. Come on, what state drinks the
- 9:56Speaker 1: most wine? No one got this. It's not gonna be California.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Gave it away. You're right. I should have said everyone
- 10:05Speaker 1: will get it California. Are you serious? It's not California.
- 10:08Speaker 1: No one's gonna get it. Indiana. Okay, I'm gonna go
- 10:13Speaker 1: to round the room. Johnny Washington, d C. So that's
- 10:16Speaker 1: not a state. New Jersey, I don't know, Hunter, Virginia,
- 10:22Speaker 1: kar Washington state. Phil, I'm gonna say Florida. That sounds
- 10:29Speaker 1: like a weird choice. That's a great choice. Old people. Yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 1: old wine drinkers. Oh yeah, that is good. Phil, Minnesota, Hayden, Connecticut, Idaho, No, neverwhere.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But listen to how low it is. This is. It's surprised.
- 10:54Speaker 1: So Idaho drinks the most wine per capita, but it's
- 10:57Speaker 1: their only drink at one point to one gallon. They're
- 11:01Speaker 1: only drinking one point two gallons of wine per person
- 11:04Speaker 1: in Idaho, but New Hampshire they're doing four point six
- 11:08Speaker 1: seven gallons of beer per person. I guess it makes
- 11:11Speaker 1: sense because three times stronger. Everyone in New Hampshire, every
- 11:18Speaker 1: like every single person in New Hampshire. It's like how
- 11:25Speaker 1: many bush lights seven and I have on a weekly
- 11:28Speaker 1: basis when you're working in the garage here. I want
- 11:31Speaker 1: to I wanna play something for people like this wild.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I'm probably the only one that remembers this. I'm the
- 11:38Speaker 1: only one that's old enough. Um, you know the guy
- 11:43Speaker 1: sitting to your left, you're constantly calling old. Oh no,
- 11:47Speaker 1: he's he's off the ages and things. Oh that's right.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I forgot sorry, I got a call of HRR. I
- 11:57Speaker 1: was like, it sounds like you, j jar layoff. Brody,
- 12:04Speaker 1: it's Christine. I just got a cold. Brody thinks it's funny,
- 12:13Speaker 1: but everybody else has had enough. He's a good sport
- 12:20Speaker 1: about it. But other people are really good upset themselves
- 12:24Speaker 1: at night. Okay, we remember this. Nothing brings back warm
- 12:31Speaker 1: holiday memories like the songs and Carol's You Love and
- 12:35Speaker 1: Only Time. Life's Treasury of Christmas brings you all your
- 12:38Speaker 1: favorite holiday songs in one collection. Dude, I watched that
- 12:44Speaker 1: thousands of times on accident when I was a kid.
- 12:50Speaker 1: You watched the commercial the Time Life. Okay, it's a
- 12:53Speaker 1: long story. Do you know about this? I mean I
- 12:56Speaker 1: feel like I remember what you just played from my youth. Okay, okay,
- 12:59Speaker 1: Hey has single handedly have you done all the lyrics? Dude,
- 13:03Speaker 1: I've created a monster. Yeah, Hayne has single handedly rewritten
- 13:07Speaker 1: every Christmas song to have a hunting and fishing theme.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Every everyone, everyone in the cannon. So many broad strokes
- 13:15Speaker 1: that were that were so many that we're making one
- 13:19Speaker 1: of these commercials with uh, we're making one of these commercials.
- 13:24Speaker 1: We're making a Time Life two c d s or
- 13:27Speaker 1: two whatever cassettes of all the rewritten holiday songs. Oh
- 13:34Speaker 1: that's great. It's just stressed briefly. But I didn't know
- 13:38Speaker 1: you guys were going that far into the Wired to
- 13:42Speaker 1: Hunt podcast. You've definitely maybe too many times. I'm not
- 13:46Speaker 1: not do it. I'm just I'm just a cheerleader. All
- 13:49Speaker 1: I did, all I did, and it was I told
- 13:51Speaker 1: him that that he has to get some female vocalists
- 13:53Speaker 1: because it can't just be the same two people singing
- 13:55Speaker 1: all the songs that was my input because my favorite
- 13:59Speaker 1: one is, um, you guys, see you guys still take
- 14:01Speaker 1: my advice on it. You're gonna do it. Maybe it's
- 14:04Speaker 1: cold outside. Yeah, and it's a risk ay song like
- 14:07Speaker 1: it is. I don't know how it's still in the
- 14:09Speaker 1: holiday can Well it's been um, it's been canceled, like
- 14:15Speaker 1: Michael Boublet and John Legend have re recorded it with
- 14:19Speaker 1: unproblematic lyrics and it's and like it's it's not it's
- 14:22Speaker 1: I mean it's really bad, but like because there's a guy.
- 14:27Speaker 1: It's a Christmas song. There's a guy he uh is
- 14:32Speaker 1: he has a female guest she would really like to leave.
- 14:37Speaker 1: He's discouraging her from leaving and saying, just have some
- 14:40Speaker 1: more drinks. Yeah, I mean it's it's definitely Stevie. But
- 14:43Speaker 1: I think we can let the song exist and acknowledge
- 14:45Speaker 1: that it's it's Stevie without recording eight new versions that
- 14:48Speaker 1: are so I'm not looking to cancel it just song. However, However,
- 14:56Speaker 1: it was brought up when we talked about doing it.
- 15:01Speaker 1: It was brought up that I was like, Okay, someone
- 15:04Speaker 1: brought up like, but you're kind of like goofing on
- 15:07Speaker 1: what do you guys. What are you guys having a
- 15:08Speaker 1: side deal about we're working on We're going to add
- 15:12Speaker 1: to this conversation. Okay, it was brought up how the
- 15:17Speaker 1: song has has become like kind of a joke, right,
- 15:20Speaker 1: It's like a it's a you know, this guy's trying
- 15:23Speaker 1: to a ladies trying to leave and he's like, no,
- 15:26Speaker 1: you know, it's very cold outside us. They gonna have
- 15:28Speaker 1: some more drinks. You know that happens in Wisconsin all
- 15:31Speaker 1: the time. But there's no malicious intent. They're like most
- 15:41Speaker 1: there's no malicious intent. It's like, no, no, have another
- 15:44Speaker 1: old fashioned please let me make you another one, and
- 15:46Speaker 1: they're like no, but I gotta go. You're like it's cold.
- 15:49Speaker 1: They're like, okay, I'll have one more acent it's snow
- 15:54Speaker 1: and wait for the plows coming to clear. It's no
- 15:57Speaker 1: malicious intent at all. Oh I got one four? Do
- 16:00Speaker 1: you know what? Um? You know? You know what's I
- 16:03Speaker 1: know we're in the middle of a story, but I
- 16:05Speaker 1: remember reading states that have the most hypothermia, and there's
- 16:12Speaker 1: there's a surprise in there. I think it's like it's
- 16:16Speaker 1: like it goes like Alaska, New Mexico, Montana or something
- 16:21Speaker 1: like that was that a trivia question? No, but I
- 16:24Speaker 1: have a theory about it. Well, I don't want to
- 16:25Speaker 1: get into my theory about it anyhow, So after we're done,
- 16:29Speaker 1: I'll do it. When Phil turns the machine off, um
- 16:32Speaker 1: so he so so the Cold Outside song someone, I
- 16:38Speaker 1: was like, he redid it? Hayd and rewrote it where
- 16:43Speaker 1: it's someone wants to go home from hunting but someone's
- 16:49Speaker 1: forcing him to stay and I and I was like,
- 16:52Speaker 1: well it should be like a you know, I should
- 16:54Speaker 1: it should be like a guy wants to stay hunting
- 16:56Speaker 1: but his wife wants to go home. And I was like,
- 16:58Speaker 1: that checked it. So I'm like, whatever, So now you
- 17:04Speaker 1: guys are gonna do it. Okay, Well I'm gonna do
- 17:08Speaker 1: a quick pass, not cutting edge, just show us we
- 17:13Speaker 1: have the same sex couple. But we we did. In fact,
- 17:16Speaker 1: Austin from Accounting Serious break aside from the podcast, Austin
- 17:20Speaker 1: from Accounting did come in and sing the song She's
- 17:23Speaker 1: not here right now here, A little taste, a little teaser.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I just have the raw files, I haven't put them
- 17:27Speaker 1: to music yet, so okay, so we can either play
- 17:33Speaker 1: you know what I said, to my credit. To my credit,
- 17:35Speaker 1: I said Okay, haven't be the woman wants to stay
- 17:38Speaker 1: and the guy wants to go home, which is isn't
- 17:41Speaker 1: that what what we did? Hidden? No, okay, I was
- 17:44Speaker 1: just saying, I don't care how you do it. I
- 17:46Speaker 1: don't care what the dynamic is. I just thought, like
- 17:48Speaker 1: a duet should be a man and a woman. Oh
- 17:52Speaker 1: so you're more like on like the ethos of a duet,
- 17:55Speaker 1: less the ethos of the content of this song. I
- 17:58Speaker 1: just feel that when I'm listening to do you should
- 18:00Speaker 1: be a man and a woman of this nature. Yes,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I don't care who's on what side Johnny and Chewn Carter. Sure,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I don't care who's on what side. If it's two
- 18:10Speaker 1: guys sitting, I don't count it as a duet. No,
- 18:12Speaker 1: it's kind of a harmony at that point. Two dudes
- 18:14Speaker 1: can't duet. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If it's you got the
- 18:19Speaker 1: most one, you got the most wonderful? Time to kill
- 18:21Speaker 1: deer queued up? I can Okay, song, so they did
- 18:25Speaker 1: the whole How how long is it gonna take you
- 18:27Speaker 1: to find it? We're gonna do it. We're going, for instance,
- 18:33Speaker 1: the most wonderful Okay, for instance, for instance, the most
- 18:39Speaker 1: what's that Christmas Carol, the most wonderful time of year. Yeah,
- 18:43Speaker 1: something like that this time. Yeah classic. Well, Henry wrote
- 18:51Speaker 1: it as the most wonderful time to kill play it,
- 18:53Speaker 1: play a snippet boys. Good to see you, Hayden. It's
- 18:58Speaker 1: been a while. Hey, sorry, I'm it. I crashed my
- 19:00Speaker 1: ponty at gast. I can do a light pool and
- 19:02Speaker 1: how to walk the rest of the way. But I'm
- 19:03Speaker 1: here now, that's what matters. Give me a glass of Scotch, please, Hayden.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Just two rocks in there. I don't like ice. I'm
- 19:09Speaker 1: starting already. Is this happening? Okay, give me the give
- 19:12Speaker 1: me the glass, thank you. Okay, here we go. It's
- 19:14Speaker 1: the most wonderful time to kill deer. With the run now,
- 19:22Speaker 1: just starting and dashing and dotting and thanks, cutting clean.
- 19:28Speaker 1: It's the most wonderful time you killed deer. There's far
- 19:34Speaker 1: too much ice in this glass. It's the half happy one,
- 19:44Speaker 1: beating and cold from some fleeting. The last week so fun.
- 19:49Speaker 1: It's the half happy. Is season of amazing and bragging
- 20:00Speaker 1: and boasting truck beds with big bucks and tow There
- 20:04Speaker 1: will be narrow miss stories and tales of your glories
- 20:07Speaker 1: of booner bucks missed with our ball. It's the most
- 20:14Speaker 1: wonderful time crush to kill dear, not just one baby two.
- 20:19Speaker 1: There will be no dose of blowing and loom and
- 20:22Speaker 1: knocks glowing and blood trails so clean. It's the most
- 20:28Speaker 1: wonderful time to kill dean. Excuse me? Can I have
- 20:35Speaker 1: a napkin? Please? I just spilt some scotch on my loafers.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I can't have dirty loafers in the studio. Thank you
- 20:41Speaker 1: tailgate beers for drinking and big boxes slinking and chasing
- 20:46Speaker 1: and sent checking does They will be fighting and scraping
- 20:50Speaker 1: and no more escaping and arrow shot true hitting home
- 20:58Speaker 1: key change. But no told me that it's the most
- 21:02Speaker 1: wonderful time to kill deer. I was very unprepared for this.
- 21:08Speaker 1: There will be much morning sitting in cold fronts, hitting
- 21:12Speaker 1: the dawn crispin clean. It's the most swonderful time, Oh,
- 21:19Speaker 1: the most swonderful time. It's the most swonderful time to
- 21:28Speaker 1: kill dean. There's too much ice in the glass. To
- 21:46Speaker 1: amazing lot of questions and comments. It's called Treasury of Christmas.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I'm really in the spirit now, I'm like that big time.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I'm fired. But my question is is the is the
- 21:59Speaker 1: care that you're playing that singing that is that Sinatra
- 22:03Speaker 1: was going for a rap back thing. Yeah, I mean
- 22:06Speaker 1: there was no one specific. Okay, okay, okay, more drinks
- 22:11Speaker 1: are being poured. Everybody likes to drink pure hit me
- 22:18Speaker 1: with the other songs? What else is on there? So
- 22:20Speaker 1: we're gonna do that's the only one that's completed. All
- 22:25Speaker 1: the other ones were hate and I have. We recorded
- 22:27Speaker 1: a couple and recording more either today or tomorrow. Do
- 22:30Speaker 1: the duet? So is this gonna be like a legit
- 22:34Speaker 1: c D. It's gonna be a joke commercial or whatever,
- 22:39Speaker 1: but we can't actually buy the product that was about
- 22:44Speaker 1: be available and like at least to listen to. Yeah,
- 22:47Speaker 1: for sure. I mean, I know you don't like things
- 22:50Speaker 1: that go viral, but that's gonna go, right. So, how
- 22:53Speaker 1: you guys gonna how you guys gonna So when people
- 22:55Speaker 1: hear the commercial and they hear all the songs, Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 1: Hayden wrote out he didn't write a so he wrote
- 22:59Speaker 1: a old version for Most Wonderful Time to Kill Deer,
- 23:02Speaker 1: and then for the rest of the songs he just
- 23:03Speaker 1: wrote kind of like thirty second snippets that you would
- 23:05Speaker 1: hear in a Time Life commercial. You know, I just
- 23:07Speaker 1: kind of goes do it, does the montage thing. So
- 23:09Speaker 1: we're not gonna have full songs of everyone. Who's got
- 23:11Speaker 1: the damn list? Who's got the list? Hey, I mean, hey,
- 23:14Speaker 1: Hayden wrote the list. I've got the list in front
- 23:15Speaker 1: of my face. Hit me with the couple. Yeah, okay,
- 23:17Speaker 1: so we've got Okay, we'll go in five. That's what
- 23:20Speaker 1: we're gonna do right Now's baby, It's okay, we're going five.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I think that's one of the ones that's not done.
- 23:27Speaker 1: You guys are gonna do it together right now. We're
- 23:29Speaker 1: doing it live. Who's what you guys is playing the um?
- 23:35Speaker 1: Who's playing the person that wants to go? Phillis person
- 23:40Speaker 1: you're the first person. I'm in the parentheses here fills
- 23:44Speaker 1: the guy that already killed. So he's like, I go
- 23:48Speaker 1: out with Hayden. I'm away better hunter. So yeah, I
- 23:51Speaker 1: already notched my tag. Okay, so this is playing off
- 23:55Speaker 1: play a snippet of the play a snippet of the
- 23:57Speaker 1: song Phill, Just to remind people what that is. I
- 24:00Speaker 1: didn't have that cute. Yeah, I thought you guys got
- 24:04Speaker 1: it right here. Here. But baby, it's cold outside. But baby,
- 24:18Speaker 1: it's cold outside. It's been holding at you dropping, I'll
- 24:24Speaker 1: hold your hands. They're just like, guys, beautiful. We probably
- 24:31Speaker 1: shouldn't play this much copyrighted music. Had that out, Yeah,
- 24:35Speaker 1: we're talking about it. Cultural, Yeah, commentary so critical. There's
- 24:40Speaker 1: that famous Christmas song which is becoming less famous about
- 24:42Speaker 1: the second. Okay, now do you guys version? Okay, So, hey,
- 24:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna gotta come in a weird time. Were gonna
- 24:47Speaker 1: play the song? You know that song? I just realized
- 24:50Speaker 1: she comes by his house. Yeah, man, this is a
- 24:55Speaker 1: great look. So that's a great look. Keep keep going. Well, no,
- 25:00Speaker 1: imagine that he showed up at her house. Yeah, that'd
- 25:04Speaker 1: be weirder. Come in here, man, No, no, but yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 1: I'm not saying I'm not saying it's good that he's
- 25:11Speaker 1: doing that. I'm saying I just never caught. I'm pointing
- 25:14Speaker 1: out I never caught she had come by his house.
- 25:18Speaker 1: That's right. I want to make a joke and I won't.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Um Okay, Hayden, you're ready, Yeah, sure, So what are
- 25:28Speaker 1: you doing for musical accompaniment? You're just playing off a
- 25:30Speaker 1: carry over? Yeah? Yeah, I really can't stay Okay, we'll
- 25:41Speaker 1: go in five. I'm done for two days. Okay, we'll
- 25:45Speaker 1: go in five. This whole time i've been We just
- 25:49Speaker 1: need some that. Just five more min it's that thing
- 25:56Speaker 1: in the clock. But it's almost come back to water soon.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I'm hungry and i'm cold and baby, just five minutes more.
- 26:07Speaker 1: But okay, we'll go five. There's gotta be more too
- 26:18Speaker 1: it than that. Well, it's only three string together for
- 26:22Speaker 1: the commercial. It's that's all. That's a long. Oh you
- 26:24Speaker 1: guys didn't write any more than that. They'll you've been
- 26:27Speaker 1: doing maximizing efficiency. That was great. It out now, even
- 26:34Speaker 1: though like because there's a weird time travel thing happening here. Yeah,
- 26:37Speaker 1: it should be out now. If it's not, i'll cut this.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Releases will be out now. You guys are filming the
- 26:41Speaker 1: final parts tomorrow Thursday. Yep, you're filming the final parts
- 26:46Speaker 1: on Thursday. Whatever is going to my it'll probably will
- 26:49Speaker 1: have it all around. It'll be at my Instagram at
- 26:52Speaker 1: Steve in Ranella Time Live Treasury Music. Speaking of Christmas, uh,
- 27:00Speaker 1: in a lot of places, it's cold at Christmas. And
- 27:02Speaker 1: the guy Rode in um Point had an interesting thing
- 27:06Speaker 1: to point out and I thought about this the r
- 27:08Speaker 1: day uh in the wintertime, and how do not be
- 27:12Speaker 1: a surface shitter in the winter? I was thinking about
- 27:17Speaker 1: this recently, but then where I dug down? I went
- 27:19Speaker 1: up kicking down a hole through the snow and dug
- 27:21Speaker 1: down when I was down into pine duff, which is
- 27:23Speaker 1: totally fine in the winter, but not everybody has that
- 27:26Speaker 1: luxury ground is frozen. How do you not be the
- 27:34Speaker 1: surface shitter? Find a rock rocks frozen in m hmm,
- 27:41Speaker 1: not all okay, check around, fight it off for a
- 27:46Speaker 1: few hours, try to hold her off, but a real answer.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Come on, What do you guys think about on the
- 27:54Speaker 1: ice though? When you're ice fishing? I see all the
- 27:57Speaker 1: time where people try to they drill a hole, lay
- 28:03Speaker 1: a deuce in there, but they can't get it. It
- 28:06Speaker 1: just is in the hole. Then it just freezes in
- 28:08Speaker 1: the surface of the hole because you gotta figure out
- 28:10Speaker 1: how you're gonna get it over, down and over. That's
- 28:13Speaker 1: a shitty fishing spot. It's kind of like you gotta
- 28:17Speaker 1: sink the cake like you do when you're cutting up.
- 28:20Speaker 1: They're not easy to do. It kind of goes against
- 28:23Speaker 1: the spirit of not polluting water sources too, even if
- 28:27Speaker 1: even if you do get it, because you're not even
- 28:29Speaker 1: talking about going by a lake. You're talking about like
- 28:31Speaker 1: going in the lake. I'll point out I've never actually
- 28:36Speaker 1: done that. I always go, always go out towards shore.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I've had to not towards shore. On shore. When you're
- 28:43Speaker 1: out on like Lake Winnebago or some way out there,
- 28:46Speaker 1: you guys go into the hole. Well, I drill a
- 28:49Speaker 1: whole halfway through and just just get a little bit
- 28:54Speaker 1: of water coming up so it'll freeze because you can
- 28:56Speaker 1: like poke the bottom of your auger so they're still slush.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Then it freezes over it's still you know, kind of
- 29:03Speaker 1: sucks because when you get a lot of people out there,
- 29:07Speaker 1: think about all the people pooping on the surface of
- 29:09Speaker 1: the ice, and then you're drilling holes into someone's frozen
- 29:13Speaker 1: turn one's going to re tap your whole. I'm never
- 29:16Speaker 1: going swimming in Lake Winnebago technique like pooping from the video,
- 29:22Speaker 1: like pooping in the ziplock bag. And then if you're
- 29:24Speaker 1: an ice shandy like and it's cold, it might freeze,
- 29:27Speaker 1: but that's you knowing the problem that advice is. It's
- 29:31Speaker 1: great advice, but people aren't going to do that why
- 29:34Speaker 1: not they're people don't. It's like the same way when
- 29:37Speaker 1: you go to an area where like river, certain river stretches,
- 29:39Speaker 1: monument stretches, you're not a lot You're supposed to bring
- 29:42Speaker 1: your poop out and you go there and it's just
- 29:45Speaker 1: bombed with poop, like a lot of people are going
- 29:48Speaker 1: to do it. It's great advice, but you also it's
- 29:50Speaker 1: like a little bit look at, like what are people
- 29:51Speaker 1: really going to do? And I think that for most
- 29:54Speaker 1: ice fishermen. For you to suggest that most ice most
- 29:57Speaker 1: ice fishermen bag it and haul it out is I
- 30:00Speaker 1: feel it's great, but I think it's unrealistic. Well, they
- 30:03Speaker 1: carry coolers out there. You can just have Well that's
- 30:05Speaker 1: what I was going to say, you could you could
- 30:08Speaker 1: bring one of those bucket shitters that they use on
- 30:11Speaker 1: river trips. You know, I didn't know, but I personally
- 30:15Speaker 1: have a very close friend who just has one in
- 30:19Speaker 1: his truck because he'd rather go that route then pull
- 30:23Speaker 1: off the side of the road and run into the
- 30:25Speaker 1: woods and deal with digging a hole and flipping a rock.
- 30:27Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, I just got a bucket back here
- 30:29Speaker 1: ship in his bag And the next time I'm stopped
- 30:32Speaker 1: by to see a dumpster. There it goes, and so
- 30:35Speaker 1: I hear what I feel that he has a control problem.
- 30:39Speaker 1: He is I think, like a lot of people, a
- 30:42Speaker 1: person that certainly deficates more than once or twice a day,
- 30:45Speaker 1: you know, especially, you know, it's just it's a thing.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I think it's pretty normal these days in the United States.
- 30:51Speaker 1: But I I'm shaking up by how genius Chester's idea
- 30:55Speaker 1: I'd call vaulting one. Yeah, you got eighteen in ice. Yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 1: but hear me out, you got eighteen inches ice. Hear
- 31:05Speaker 1: me out listening. You're not giving me time because this
- 31:08Speaker 1: this is gonna I'm gonna verge into microbiology here, and
- 31:13Speaker 1: perhaps a microbiologist can write us in. You got eighteen
- 31:16Speaker 1: inches ice, you tap down fifteen inches and make a vault. Okay,
- 31:24Speaker 1: get all that shavings out of there. Okay, defecate. I mean,
- 31:31Speaker 1: you know, if you guys know that word defecate down
- 31:35Speaker 1: in there, then pack the shavings back down on her.
- 31:41Speaker 1: You vaulted, because I feel as though in that extreme scenario,
- 31:48Speaker 1: the microbes won't last. It's a death sentence. Maybe so,
- 31:53Speaker 1: but we need to confirm with a bona fide what
- 31:57Speaker 1: is that stuff carbonite carbonite or get a block carbonite.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I still think a buckets a better option than Yeah,
- 32:09Speaker 1: but I hadn't thought of that. Just something about it
- 32:11Speaker 1: seems so tidy, like like if you did what if
- 32:15Speaker 1: you did a hole and then and then ice caked it,
- 32:20Speaker 1: you kind of be thinking about under view looking up,
- 32:24Speaker 1: and it's like later that night, laying in bed, you'd
- 32:28Speaker 1: be thinking about what you did if you vaulted one,
- 32:32Speaker 1: like I'm talking about with this half hole situation, laying
- 32:36Speaker 1: in bed at night, you feel that that was a
- 32:37Speaker 1: tidy little remedy. Okay, but let's say you do that.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Let's do that like no one's gonna find it. Let's
- 32:43Speaker 1: say you do that March first, and the ice starts
- 32:47Speaker 1: to rot the third week of March, but you know
- 32:50Speaker 1: it's still fishable when you're out there. And I had
- 32:54Speaker 1: to hear from microL No, but I'm saying that that
- 32:57Speaker 1: stuff would slowly start becoming exposed. And there's three Ronella
- 33:01Speaker 1: kids running around and they're like, no, they always somehow
- 33:06Speaker 1: end up in all. I think I think there is
- 33:14Speaker 1: I think there is a better option with the bucket
- 33:16Speaker 1: or something, But sometimes like you just gotta go and
- 33:20Speaker 1: the last thing that you should do is go on
- 33:24Speaker 1: top of the ice because then your you see on
- 33:29Speaker 1: Lake Winnebago, you'll see tepee flying across the ice all
- 33:34Speaker 1: the time because there's that many people out there. But
- 33:38Speaker 1: I think I think it would be hard pressed to
- 33:42Speaker 1: get somebody to do the zip block or the bucket.
- 33:45Speaker 1: But a lot of times when you're dealing with ethics questions,
- 33:47Speaker 1: it comes out to it's like, um, I love them,
- 33:52Speaker 1: but it's like what should you do? Yes, you should
- 33:54Speaker 1: have a bucket with the banks. You can go down
- 33:56Speaker 1: to sportsman's warehouse any sporting goods stole or and who
- 34:01Speaker 1: even makes that bucket? Oh, you can find them any
- 34:04Speaker 1: I mean it's a coon snap on toilet lid, on anything,
- 34:08Speaker 1: fallon bucket with a little with a little snap on
- 34:10Speaker 1: toilet lid, a little bag. It's like a gray heavy
- 34:14Speaker 1: duty garbage bag zip lock and it's got a magical
- 34:16Speaker 1: powder in it. And look like, yeah, it's inconvenient, but
- 34:21Speaker 1: it's worth being inconvenient. Like like, I don't think we
- 34:24Speaker 1: should be making excuses because like, oh wow, you know
- 34:27Speaker 1: it's hard to poop in a bucket like bucket, bring
- 34:30Speaker 1: a bucket. I don't think we should be giving people
- 34:39Speaker 1: an out. Flipping Jake's flipping Jake's flip Jake's it docks,
- 34:53Speaker 1: slip on it pist. He says, we're catching his fish.
- 34:57Speaker 1: It's public water. It's for every one. Go ahead and
- 35:02Speaker 1: call the game warden up. Flipping Jake's flipping jigs, flip
- 35:07Speaker 1: jigs at ducks with large mouth They high and the
- 35:11Speaker 1: bait fish swim by, lunkers and shadows suspended on logs.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Fill the live oh with hogs. What kind of fish
- 35:29Speaker 1: will barely fight while they are? The fish that will
- 35:31Speaker 1: barely fight? What kind of fish are over hyped while
- 35:34Speaker 1: they are? The fish that are over hyped, over hyped,
- 35:37Speaker 1: barely fight? Must be waly, must be waal line must
- 35:43Speaker 1: be waly. Those wet sauce Brodie. When you go ice fishing,
- 35:50Speaker 1: though right now, you probably don't bring a bucket. No,
- 35:53Speaker 1: we go to the shore. We go to shore. Small
- 35:55Speaker 1: enough lakes, well, big lakes, we go to shore. Yeah,
- 36:00Speaker 1: but I mean if I it would like I'm carrying
- 36:03Speaker 1: a bunch of other stuff, carrying a bucket and say
- 36:05Speaker 1: ice fishroman have a bucket? Chester, I was ice fishing
- 36:09Speaker 1: when you were a glint in your mama's eye. Let
- 36:12Speaker 1: me tell you something never shed on the ice. That's
- 36:16Speaker 1: impressive ever, But you're thinking about shipping in it. I mean,
- 36:21Speaker 1: Chester turned me out that idea. I don't like going
- 36:25Speaker 1: on the ice, but there's been a couple of occasions
- 36:27Speaker 1: when you just gotta go, So grab the auger right
- 36:31Speaker 1: and going on top and do that. Yeah, Like, let's
- 36:33Speaker 1: say you put it like this. Let's say someone came
- 36:36Speaker 1: to Let's say a godlike figure came down and said,
- 36:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna you better go. You better defecate on the
- 36:44Speaker 1: ice right now. In that situation, I think vaulting it
- 36:51Speaker 1: is better than surface and definitely you'd be like, let
- 36:54Speaker 1: me get this clear there in the ice. That's my
- 36:58Speaker 1: favorite story in the Old Testaments. I'm just trying to
- 37:02Speaker 1: encourage large scale, good outdoor pooping. You guys know, Okay,
- 37:07Speaker 1: we've you know it's appropriate. Okay, it's weird. I was
- 37:10Speaker 1: gonna make a joke. I shouldn't have made. Deuteronomy. Okay,
- 37:14Speaker 1: we've covered this on the podcast. We're gonna recover it.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Deuteronomy three twelve to fourteen from the Good Book. This
- 37:24Speaker 1: is not a joke. Deuteronomy twelve to fourteen in the
- 37:29Speaker 1: Good Book. You shall also, in quoting from the Bible,
- 37:35Speaker 1: you shall also have a place outside the camp, and
- 37:38Speaker 1: go out there, and you shall have a spade among
- 37:42Speaker 1: your tools, and it shall be when you sit down outside,
- 37:46Speaker 1: you shall dig with it, and shall turn to cover
- 37:49Speaker 1: up your excrement. Since the Lord your God walks in
- 37:54Speaker 1: the midst of your camp to deliver you and to
- 37:57Speaker 1: defeat your enemies before you there, for your camp must
- 38:01Speaker 1: be holy, and he must not see anything indecent among you,
- 38:06Speaker 1: or he will turn away from you. Final word, Huh,
- 38:14Speaker 1: it gives me all kinds. No, it doesn't give me
- 38:20Speaker 1: the chills. What's it give me? Then? Just come on.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I don't know if it's time for this, but it
- 38:34Speaker 1: just seems to me that, like, man, that'd be a
- 38:37Speaker 1: good thing for a dude to write in a book
- 38:40Speaker 1: if he wanted to keep the masses clean and tidy
- 38:45Speaker 1: with rules of all sorts of things. So not he,
- 38:50Speaker 1: So you're saying one of the authors, one of the
- 38:53Speaker 1: was like, you know, I'm just gonna throw in here
- 38:55Speaker 1: because it drives me crazy. Well, yeah, and not only
- 38:59Speaker 1: does it drive you crazy, but it kills a lot
- 39:01Speaker 1: of people, makes a lot of people sick. In general,
- 39:05Speaker 1: these people are a bunch of you know, dirty whatever. Yeah,
- 39:11Speaker 1: I don't know what are you saying? No, what I
- 39:16Speaker 1: was adding to the notes. Okay, so Chester mentioned t P,
- 39:22Speaker 1: and I was wondering, Well, so I think I've discovered
- 39:26Speaker 1: a hot tip. A hot tip on not needing toilet
- 39:29Speaker 1: paper which might help you know things is silium fiber,
- 39:36Speaker 1: which is a soluble fiber that comes in meta musil.
- 39:40Speaker 1: But if you actually buy like a whole container of
- 39:43Speaker 1: raw cilium fiber and you take much more than is necessary,
- 39:49Speaker 1: your poop will come out kind of like halfway between
- 39:52Speaker 1: jello and like a sausage casing, and you will probably
- 39:56Speaker 1: not need TP. I wonder no side effects, no side
- 40:07Speaker 1: effects at all. It's like a natural It's just like
- 40:10Speaker 1: a natural soluble fiber, and it will it absorbs water
- 40:14Speaker 1: so it comes out. Yeah, it really does case her up.
- 40:18Speaker 1: So for example, like I've given it to my dog, uh,
- 40:22Speaker 1: like he has he is diarrhea for example, right, so
- 40:25Speaker 1: he's like maybe no, no, no, just like he you know,
- 40:30Speaker 1: let's say he had diarrhea, and so it might like
- 40:34Speaker 1: be coming out real watery if I give him a
- 40:37Speaker 1: lot of cilium fiber, and he like happens to have
- 40:40Speaker 1: an accident inside the house, it comes out like a
- 40:44Speaker 1: soft geled in case sausage and I can just pick
- 40:47Speaker 1: the holding up in discard. That is that just like
- 40:51Speaker 1: is that fiber? Yeah, it's it's it's it's like, I
- 40:55Speaker 1: don't know how to describe it. Okay, So chia seeds,
- 40:58Speaker 1: if you've ever had chia seeds soaking in water, they
- 41:03Speaker 1: become so your your poop will come out like that.
- 41:09Speaker 1: So would you ever be so concerned, like, would you
- 41:12Speaker 1: ever do that to make your backwoods clean up? I've
- 41:17Speaker 1: totally done it. It's great. That's another thing that the
- 41:20Speaker 1: masses are going to do. Like I'm not like I
- 41:25Speaker 1: need a dozen ways. If I promise, it's like the
- 41:40Speaker 1: guy checking out and says, going ice for sure, I promise.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Especially it is life changing. It is life changing, guys.
- 41:53Speaker 1: I do order it on Amazon or get it from
- 41:55Speaker 1: your health foods. Tell me the name of it, Sillium
- 41:57Speaker 1: fiber ps P S y L I S. You just go,
- 42:07Speaker 1: you pick up put in your pocket, no toilet paper.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Is this like it I'm saying, But when you go,
- 42:17Speaker 1: you just I put a bunch of table spoons or
- 42:21Speaker 1: kind of like a half cup or more in a
- 42:24Speaker 1: little zip lock bag, and it's kind of tasteless if
- 42:28Speaker 1: you need to like chug water or a beverage with
- 42:31Speaker 1: it really quickly. If you wait for I don't know,
- 42:34Speaker 1: a minute or two, the if that mix with the
- 42:38Speaker 1: liquid will like jellify, so you want to get it
- 42:42Speaker 1: down quickly or else it will be difficult to like
- 42:46Speaker 1: consume consuming. Is this like a thing like do like
- 42:50Speaker 1: through through hikers? Is it a thing? Not that I know? Yeah,
- 42:58Speaker 1: I'm seriously, man, we should put like a medical disclaimer. Yeah.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Once time we were talking about one time I joked
- 43:06Speaker 1: about how I joked about how Doug during was the
- 43:10Speaker 1: one that transferred COVID deer through Buckman juice, and then
- 43:15Speaker 1: we got a warning. We got like a COVID misinformation
- 43:18Speaker 1: warning that it's just like some some like AI thing
- 43:26Speaker 1: was like COVID deer. P Yeah, let put the warning up.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I do want to say one thing that this whole
- 43:36Speaker 1: conversation brought up to me though, that I never thought
- 43:39Speaker 1: about too much before. Was there there's twelve thousand people
- 43:44Speaker 1: on the ice. I'm like Winnebago for open for sturgeon spearing.
- 43:49Speaker 1: So that's like a serious thing, Like how much of
- 43:52Speaker 1: an impact liked pH dukes per hour? Yeah, I mean
- 43:58Speaker 1: what Like, let's say you take half for those you
- 44:01Speaker 1: know it's multiple days. Let's say half of those people
- 44:04Speaker 1: have to go not anywhere near that. Let's talk about
- 44:09Speaker 1: like this. You put ten people on okay, ten people
- 44:12Speaker 1: on the ice, ten people go ice fishing. So now
- 44:17Speaker 1: you gotta figure they're not all doing a twelve hour jig, right,
- 44:22Speaker 1: some are gonna be doing a one hour jig. So
- 44:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna be doing a twelve hour jig. So ten people,
- 44:28Speaker 1: and then you've got an average out that they're all
- 44:30Speaker 1: good for a five hour jig. Let's say, on average,
- 44:33Speaker 1: how many of those people are going to drop a
- 44:37Speaker 1: deuce that day? I think one? I think one. Because
- 44:44Speaker 1: this conversations has me thinking about since I don't go
- 44:48Speaker 1: on the ice, I'm like, have I spent my whole
- 44:50Speaker 1: life holding it back on the ice, But I haven't
- 44:52Speaker 1: to be like two thousand poops to day and like
- 44:55Speaker 1: Wuinnebago ppds, Yeah, two pvds. Yeah, but a lot of
- 45:02Speaker 1: those guys are in shacks, right, they probably have little
- 45:07Speaker 1: So remove remove the one of them that has a toilet.
- 45:11Speaker 1: If you think about it, like those those shacks, they
- 45:14Speaker 1: have holes in the floor that are you Typically a
- 45:18Speaker 1: majority of the hole in your floor is a big
- 45:20Speaker 1: cutout in the ice. You think they're you think they're
- 45:23Speaker 1: sinking the cake on them. I bet summer sinking the
- 45:27Speaker 1: cake in the hole. But it's like, I don't know
- 45:29Speaker 1: how how thick is. I bet it's hard to get
- 45:31Speaker 1: it turns. Any fetish is to go down there with,
- 45:33Speaker 1: it's hard to get it turned down the ice sometimes, Yeah,
- 45:36Speaker 1: it depends if you got a floater or a sinker.
- 45:41Speaker 1: You can adjust that with diet too, though, let's move
- 45:45Speaker 1: on thin ice. Fishermen are very diet. This is my
- 45:50Speaker 1: favorite new dynamic is Steve being really curious about like
- 45:54Speaker 1: fetish stuff and Yanni being very uncomfortable because you know,
- 45:59Speaker 1: I'm bored. It might be like skunk smells her first. Anyways,
- 46:06Speaker 1: moving on, a lot of friendly Christmas, A lot to unpack.
- 46:13Speaker 1: It's something to think about. It's a lot to unpack.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Their nose today. Just leave the cleanex in the middle
- 46:20Speaker 1: of the table. I'll clean up. Wink wink, I got you.
- 46:24Speaker 1: It's a lot to think about. Um. Great question from
- 46:27Speaker 1: a listener, if you got a question right in. Um,
- 46:30Speaker 1: that was quite inconclusive, but it sounds like everybody needs
- 46:34Speaker 1: to get some of them bags, come brody bags. I
- 46:39Speaker 1: was gonna add the reason I got to thinking about
- 46:41Speaker 1: it and I mentioned it to current is because I
- 46:44Speaker 1: was out of the day deer hunting in very cold
- 46:46Speaker 1: conditions in the snow, and I got to the point
- 46:50Speaker 1: I was saying, man, I'm just it's gonna have to happen.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I did the same thing you did. I went beneath
- 46:56Speaker 1: the snow, didn't find pine stuff, but found ground that
- 47:00Speaker 1: was not frozen insulated by the snow, and and it
- 47:03Speaker 1: was pretty much like it could have been September. And
- 47:06Speaker 1: I was taking care of business. No big deal, that's great,
- 47:10Speaker 1: good job. Thanks. Yeah. I'll share one little thing I know.
- 47:16Speaker 1: This is this is like this is like if you're
- 47:18Speaker 1: at a deer camp or like we're gonna you're somewhere
- 47:22Speaker 1: for an extended period of time, dig a hole that
- 47:26Speaker 1: is big enough for the whole week. Ye, your own
- 47:27Speaker 1: private hole. Oh yeah, I encourage people to do that.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I dug down through the snow. It was like tim
- 47:33Speaker 1: blow at night. It was cold, but dug down through
- 47:36Speaker 1: the snow dug a hole for the week. I didn't
- 47:40Speaker 1: have to worry about trying to dig holes, you know,
- 47:43Speaker 1: in other places all throughout the week. It just y,
- 47:45Speaker 1: I've done that and then put a cap rock on
- 47:47Speaker 1: top of it. Yeah, well, I the the big plug
- 47:50Speaker 1: I pulled out from my hole frozen like frozen. Then
- 47:56Speaker 1: I just said that back on top when I left
- 48:01Speaker 1: holding it was actually one of the most convenient things
- 48:02Speaker 1: I've done in a while. Uh, we were hunting in
- 48:05Speaker 1: eastern Montana. This is gonna wrap her up, go ahead.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I held it for a day. I went to stop
- 48:12Speaker 1: at a campsite and uh and use one of the
- 48:15Speaker 1: toilets there, and uh, there was a c w D
- 48:18Speaker 1: check right there, so we got my girlfriend's dear tested. Well,
- 48:21Speaker 1: I went used the bathroom. That's great. Yeah, that was
- 48:23Speaker 1: pretty good. Cold weather, hot TiO ready to talk about
- 48:29Speaker 1: I think we got that covered. Grab a bucket. Yeah,
- 48:34Speaker 1: I'm trying to find a segue. I got a segue.
- 48:42Speaker 1: There's a thing called a Latvian plug. It's the thing
- 48:45Speaker 1: that I have in the Latvians. And he's Lavian as
- 48:48Speaker 1: our windows Chester and Lavian's. We'll find sometimes that when
- 48:52Speaker 1: they're on the road traveling. Uh, they'll they'll form a
- 48:56Speaker 1: plug and it'll take him a couple of days to
- 48:58Speaker 1: get sorted out. It's called the Lavian plug named are
- 49:02Speaker 1: you honest? Nice um? As as we we've explored honest Lavian.
- 49:08Speaker 1: He was taught to speak Latvian, he went to Latvian school,
- 49:12Speaker 1: he went to Lavian summer camp. The only thing he
- 49:15Speaker 1: didn't do, let's go to Lavia until until he just
- 49:20Speaker 1: went to Lavia and of all things, hunting in Latvia.
- 49:24Speaker 1: After I met you, honest, I to be honest with you,
- 49:26Speaker 1: I wasn't If you'd have had me to list a
- 49:28Speaker 1: bunch of list all the countries I could think of,
- 49:31Speaker 1: I would have gotten way down the page. I don't
- 49:33Speaker 1: think I would have thought to put Latvia down before
- 49:36Speaker 1: we met. And not long after we met, I'm looking
- 49:39Speaker 1: at a newspaper and I see about a bunch of
- 49:41Speaker 1: Lavia and ice fishermen strained it out in the ocean
- 49:43Speaker 1: because they were fishing in the bay, in the whole bay,
- 49:45Speaker 1: the whole bays where the ice floated out into the ocean.
- 49:50Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, so this is a place.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if we've increased the world's uh
- 49:59Speaker 1: not knowledge, just uh yeah, awareness of Latvia by like
- 50:04Speaker 1: a considerable percentage, just through this podcast. Because still half
- 50:09Speaker 1: the people I think I talked to her if I
- 50:10Speaker 1: said I went to Latvia, they're like, huh, where's that?
- 50:14Speaker 1: Never you know, like seriously never heard of the country.
- 50:16Speaker 1: But now that they know the Lavian eagle, Yeah, there's
- 50:20Speaker 1: at least ten more people when you went to Lavia.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Did they know that you're the Lavian eagle? Or they
- 50:25Speaker 1: just think you're the eagle Via? Oh I should know
- 50:34Speaker 1: the answer to that. Probably golden eagles, I don't know.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Maybe yeah, yeah, they're They're a circums polar species, aren't
- 50:41Speaker 1: they Like Golden's The other day the day I saw
- 50:47Speaker 1: my first stuffed golden eagle and I said, I love
- 50:50Speaker 1: you supposed to have that? And he goes, trust me, listen,
- 50:52Speaker 1: everybody brings it up. It's very old, and here's on
- 50:57Speaker 1: he'd heard all about it. So yeah, it's like you
- 51:01Speaker 1: go to shoes, sushi joint, and sushi joint and you say,
- 51:04Speaker 1: have you ever seen that movie Hero Dreams of Sushi?
- 51:08Speaker 1: And they're like, dude, lady sixth types of eagles in Latvia?
- 51:16Speaker 1: Thanks Chester. Ye. So yeah, the way that my contact
- 51:21Speaker 1: my host there, Lynda, Um, she how did you find Linda?
- 51:25Speaker 1: Come on? Now? Linda found me actually through Meteor watching
- 51:30Speaker 1: Mediator on Netflix. And then I don't know if it
- 51:33Speaker 1: was an episode that I might have been a guest
- 51:35Speaker 1: on or she saw my name in the credits. She's like,
- 51:39Speaker 1: that's interesting. That name looks pretty Latvian, you know, and
- 51:42Speaker 1: she came and then she continued to watch. It was
- 51:44Speaker 1: like he's got to be and then she reached out
- 51:47Speaker 1: and said what, um, just love the show and do
- 51:52Speaker 1: you want to come on my podcast? She has a podcast, Yeah,
- 51:56Speaker 1: the only hunting podcast in the Latvian language. Seriously, so
- 52:03Speaker 1: that would up being But but you have family there
- 52:06Speaker 1: and stuff, yeah, like second cousin type family. Yeah, like
- 52:11Speaker 1: this and enough that when I was there on my
- 52:13Speaker 1: first trip to Latvia, I did not visit them. Probably
- 52:16Speaker 1: here about it when I go back and do visit them.
- 52:19Speaker 1: But uh, yeah, I was actually advised not to because um,
- 52:23Speaker 1: not just my family in particular, but generally families that
- 52:28Speaker 1: mean generally people and they have um foreigners that our
- 52:33Speaker 1: family come over, they really want to show him a
- 52:35Speaker 1: good time, really want to give him a tour of
- 52:37Speaker 1: Latvia and sounds like they will schedule your whole trip
- 52:42Speaker 1: and you're not gonna have a lot of extra time.
- 52:44Speaker 1: And I couldn't really have that, you know, because we're
- 52:46Speaker 1: really working for most of the time I was there.
- 52:48Speaker 1: What what did you find Latvian hunting culture to be?
- 52:55Speaker 1: M hmm, let me a hunting culture. Let me think
- 53:01Speaker 1: of another. Let me think another way of asking it.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Focus that question a little bit more. Um, is it
- 53:09Speaker 1: is it fringe not well understood, you know, a few
- 53:16Speaker 1: people off in the boonies or is it or is
- 53:19Speaker 1: it like very well? Is it very woven into the culture? Um?
- 53:25Speaker 1: I'd say it's probably similar percentage wise, is to to hear.
- 53:29Speaker 1: I think those are approximately twenty hunters in Latvia and
- 53:33Speaker 1: there's about a million UM six hundred thousand inhabitants. UM
- 53:41Speaker 1: thousand is to one point SIXD is the one point
- 53:46Speaker 1: six million as X is to one UM. No. I
- 53:53Speaker 1: could figure that ship off. I had like a pennant
- 53:55Speaker 1: paper and a calculator. It's woven into the culture enough
- 53:59Speaker 1: that they're uh, there's some anti hunting movement, yeah, a
- 54:04Speaker 1: little bit, you know, Um there tell people where Levy
- 54:10Speaker 1: is that's try to smart. That's a good place to start.
- 54:12Speaker 1: It's on the Baltic Sea, which is yeah, point point
- 54:21Speaker 1: oh one two one Okay. So so if like, if
- 54:29Speaker 1: your numbers are right, it has the participation rate, I
- 54:33Speaker 1: think participation rate better than New Jersey and California for
- 54:38Speaker 1: hunting participation. There you go, there you go. Um, as
- 54:44Speaker 1: you expect, more so out in the country than in
- 54:47Speaker 1: the city when you're in the city. We had to
- 54:50Speaker 1: drive out of the city to find a hunting store.
- 54:52Speaker 1: My baggage got delayed big time, like three or four days,
- 54:56Speaker 1: so I had I needed some clothes to hunting. So
- 54:58Speaker 1: we went out to a hunting shop and uh, very
- 55:01Speaker 1: well appointed hunting shop. Like when you go in there,
- 55:03Speaker 1: you're like, oh, I can get kidded out, um and
- 55:06Speaker 1: go do whatever I needed to go. Do you know
- 55:08Speaker 1: hiking boots, rubber boots. I mean you know they had
- 55:10Speaker 1: a full wall of hunting boots and all kinds of
- 55:13Speaker 1: nice guns and fancy Yeah. Yeah, what's gun ownership? Like that? Tricky,
- 55:21Speaker 1: very very tricky. For one, you gotta wait a lot
- 55:24Speaker 1: longer age wise to own one that you do here,
- 55:28Speaker 1: Like I'm gonna not have the numbers exactly right, but
- 55:31Speaker 1: it's approximately like eighteen years old only for smooth bore.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Basically you can own a shotgun at that point. Rifle
- 55:38Speaker 1: twenty one years of age. UM, so you can own one. Uh.
- 55:43Speaker 1: I don't know if it's annual or maybe bi annual
- 55:46Speaker 1: psychologic um testing by the police. Yes, interviews like go in,
- 55:54Speaker 1: sit down to have an interview with a cop and
- 55:57Speaker 1: they're like, yeah, you're cool. You can still continue to
- 56:00Speaker 1: own guns. Um. Yeah, lots lots more paperwork, just's a
- 56:06Speaker 1: lot more waiting time processing. Um. There's another uh, federal agency.
- 56:14Speaker 1: You have to go through his well to have your
- 56:17Speaker 1: to have basically the license to own weapons. Um. But
- 56:21Speaker 1: you didn't have to do any of that interview stuff. No.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I Basically I had to have a sponsor that said
- 56:27Speaker 1: that while while he's using a weapon in Latvia, he'll
- 56:31Speaker 1: be under my supervision. Um. And then I also had
- 56:34Speaker 1: to prove that I had I own guns and that
- 56:36Speaker 1: I used guns here in the States. So I came
- 56:39Speaker 1: up with one of the forms that we all fill
- 56:41Speaker 1: out it snays to get our guns transferred over one
- 56:44Speaker 1: of those and then just a hunting license and that
- 56:47Speaker 1: was enough. Do they do? They all your suppressors out there.
- 56:49Speaker 1: I heard that that was a big thing in your
- 56:51Speaker 1: most Yeah, like if here it seems like it's one
- 56:55Speaker 1: and ten of us now have it where it was
- 56:58Speaker 1: you know, zero and ten five years ago. There's the
- 57:00Speaker 1: other way around. I think the only reason you wouldn't
- 57:02Speaker 1: have one there is if you really can't afford it.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Do they have like an equally like rigorous process to
- 57:07Speaker 1: getting a suppressor, like similar to the gun or is
- 57:10Speaker 1: it just like if you have a gun you can
- 57:11Speaker 1: get a suppressor. Oh no, I think you can. It's
- 57:14Speaker 1: like the reverse, Like you're gonna go into seven eleven
- 57:16Speaker 1: and by a suppressor, but it's gonna take you a
- 57:18Speaker 1: lot of time to get to get a rifle. What all?
- 57:23Speaker 1: What all are they hunting there? Uh? What critters they hunting?
- 57:26Speaker 1: I was when I kind of know the answer is
- 57:27Speaker 1: surprised because there's like a there's like analogies here, like
- 57:34Speaker 1: just like they're hunting stuffers like a there's similar stuff here,
- 57:39Speaker 1: but they got they got They hunt like a moose,
- 57:42Speaker 1: not our moose. But it's a moose, that's right. It's
- 57:43Speaker 1: a moose, much smaller, much less paddled moose. Like a
- 57:48Speaker 1: lot of their antlers would just be like five times
- 57:50Speaker 1: kind of sticking out in different directions on each side,
- 57:53Speaker 1: like without a paddle whatsoever. Um, the red deer, you
- 57:59Speaker 1: might think, all, it's a red stag, but I think
- 58:01Speaker 1: it's actually a red deer. The mail as a stag
- 58:04Speaker 1: emails behind and Latvia they actually called him bowls and
- 58:06Speaker 1: cows for some reason. Yeah, what's the word for that? Bull?
- 58:11Speaker 1: Lis'sen on mat mat is like saying mother, you know,
- 58:16Speaker 1: or female? Um, when you did the podcast, did you
- 58:20Speaker 1: do it in Latvia? I did? Yeah? Was that hard?
- 58:24Speaker 1: You know? It's interesting. Um. I got a lot of
- 58:26Speaker 1: compliments when I was in Latvia because they would be
- 58:28Speaker 1: amazed at number one, it took me forty four years
- 58:31Speaker 1: to get over there for a visit, and then number
- 58:34Speaker 1: two that I had kept out the language so abll
- 58:36Speaker 1: so well. So I got a lot of compliments on
- 58:38Speaker 1: on how good my language was. But it's always funny
- 58:40Speaker 1: to me because I did a podcast, did as best
- 58:43Speaker 1: I could in the Latvian language, and then I called
- 58:46Speaker 1: my dad and the first thing he says is, hey,
- 58:48Speaker 1: I listened to the podcast you did with Linda. You
- 58:51Speaker 1: really need to work on your labvia the reason why
- 58:54Speaker 1: you keep up on your Latvian is because you talked
- 58:58Speaker 1: to your your dad in Latvian a lot. Right, Yeah,
- 59:03Speaker 1: that was an interesting thing about me and Latvia is
- 59:06Speaker 1: that here I speak to my mom, my dad used
- 59:10Speaker 1: to be my grandmother every time you're on the phone
- 59:13Speaker 1: with you all the time. Uh, my siblings, Uh, pretty limited.
- 59:19Speaker 1: And then like Latvian deer camp for three days, I
- 59:22Speaker 1: can I speak, you know, to all those guys in Latvia.
- 59:25Speaker 1: I can always tell what they're talking about when they're
- 59:26Speaker 1: talking to laughing when I'm listening, because there are certain America's,
- 59:30Speaker 1: like totally American words that just don't work, and so
- 59:35Speaker 1: you'll catch the words and you kind of know what's
- 59:38Speaker 1: you won't know what's going on, but you'll know what
- 59:39Speaker 1: they're talking about. You know. It's interesting Latvia that's even happened.
- 59:44Speaker 1: I would in my mind even more than it has here.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Like you could ask Joe and Tyler and Jason that
- 59:50Speaker 1: we're over there with me, they would actually pick up
- 59:53Speaker 1: like that one words too, because like I call a
- 59:55Speaker 1: gym a v which is like what the people in
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: nineteen fifty called that, because right, that's when my family
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: left the country and that sort of old Latvian was
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: what I grew up on. Well the you know, million
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: plus people on that yet it's kept changing the language. Right,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: So in Latvia they call it Jim fitness clips, no job,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Like on the side it says fitness clips and you
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: drive by, You're like, God, I wasn't mistake I back
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: and going there and work out. You're like one of
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: the chances they'd have that same word. Yeah, yeah, Like
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: like computer is uh dot doors is what I grew
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: up with, and there they say computers. You know, just
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: the way language changes. When I when I was in college,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I had to take a class called the Structure of
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Modern English and uh this we read this thing from
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: some linguists that was saying, had you gone, had you
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: gone along the Mason Dixon Line at the end of
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: the Civil War and somehow eliminated contact between the North
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: and the South at the end of the Civil War
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: along the Mason Dixon line, at this point you would
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: not be able to communicate. Mm hmm. It doesn't take long,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: just because the drift, the normal drift, and then and
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: then the way you're constantly adding words of vocabulary because
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: right right, like that's pre automobile, right, So you imagine
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: all these areas where it would just be like you
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: wouldn't you know, you wouldn't know. So the fact that
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: you guys sort of took a version of Latvia to
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: the US and then mess with it for seventy years
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: without a ton of fresh input that you that your
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: that your habits and you know, with drift as new
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: terminology emerged where Levy is, oh, yeah, we didn't get
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: on that. It's it's we got stuck on the percentage
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: of hunters and Latvia. Ah, it's on the Baltic Sea, um,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: which is if you imagine Europe, it's sort of sits
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: in the in the northern part of Europe on the
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Baltic Sea. You also have the southern tips of Norway
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: and Sweden, and then you have the three Baltic countries
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: on the east side of the Baltic Sea Estonia, Latvia
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: in Lithuania, and then to the south of Rthuenia you'd
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: have Poland, and then that goes down into Germany and
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: the main mass of Europe, and then so directly to
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: our east as Russia. We share a border with Russia,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: and you guys mix it up with Russia. Yeah, I
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: mean we've tried over the years. Uh yeah, so yeah,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: you could say we've mixed it up, has not been good.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Is Finland above you or yeah? To the north, to
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: the north, and you hunted crazy moose. Yeah, so they're
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: in the moose, they're in the red deer are native, Yes,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: pigs are native. Pigs are native, red deer native is
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: native um and then the road deer is also native.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: What's the non natives over there? The raccoon dogs seth, Yeah,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: you got one of those, right, And they say the
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Russians brought him in, So I don't I don't know
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: if it came from China last night. But it was
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: interesting because I talked a lot about the raccoon dog
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: prior to going because I thought it was interesting. It
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: was like an animal that we don't have here. And
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: sure enough, that's the only animal ended up shooting was
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: a raccoon dog. And the hunters there told me that
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: was because the hunting goddess Diana had said it was
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: going to be so nothing you're gonna do about it, no,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: And at first when they would bring up when they
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: would bring up Diana, at first, I was like, oh, yeah, Diana,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: good luck to you to go hunting, you know. But
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: then things would happen and they'd be like, oh, yeah,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: seeing Diana just said it wasn't meant to be today,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: you know, and we'd be like, okay, I guess we'll
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: want you know, red stack again tomorrow. And it just
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: kept coming up, and finally I was like, man, you
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: guys take this like Diana gal seriously and they're like,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: it doesn't happen without her blessing. I was like, okay,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: like very very serious about Diana, like being like, yeah,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: it's your day to kill the red stack, like very
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: much part of their hunting culture. That is, like so
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I don't even talking about another crazy thing, the death wind. No,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: that's lou Wetzel. When you answer seth question and talk
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: about the wind through through Wind with Diana, Like how
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: like do they don't go out knowing that day that
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: like Diana is gonna bless him. No, but don't have
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: don't just have like like sayings like good luck and
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: you know, my Diana be with you, and but if
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: things go to ship afterwards, now you know like well
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: now we know that she wasn't down. Yeah, like and
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: it's so funny how you can manifest this stuff, right,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: because with this raccoon dog, I'm using a gun that's
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: not mine because unfortunately they explain one of those a
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: little bit. How big was the one you got? Um?
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: I mean they literally on the size of her raccoon,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: just a lot fluffier. It's like a raccoon in a
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: fox had a baby. Um. They're a past they're you know,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: non native, kind of eat everything out, you know people.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Really it's kind of like the pig if you're like, well,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: do you really want them gone? And they're like no,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: you know, we kind of like having a few raccoon
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: dogs around trees. I don't think they do. I don't
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: think they climb trees. They are a canine species, so
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: they've got feet like a fox. Um. But we're actually
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: sitting in the dark hunting pigs over bait in a
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: blind on the evening. That was the kind of evening
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: you can hear it twig snap two yards away, I
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: mean just still as could be, so you couldn't really
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: talk because it was so quiet, you know, because the
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: pig bait it's only like fifty yards away, and this
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: is at night at night. With them, what they have
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: out for hog bait. I think it was a mix
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: of corn and apples. What was out there? Yeah, and uh,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I haven't done much night I don't even know if
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: I've done any night hunt. No, that's not true. We
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: did a little bit in text night Hunted with You
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: in Florida, of night Hunted with You in Texas and
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: in the Jungles night Hunted with and alright, but now
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: particularly like this using thermals. That's another thing we should
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: get into is how prevalent the thermal use it. I
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: want to get to that too, because that's pretty interesting.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: But they yeah, lion, it's of a bit. Uh. So
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I'm using a rifle. It's not mine because my rifles
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: didn't get there in time. Unfortunately. It was like an
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: eight month process and we did everything possible and we
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: literally got the rifles. Wow, I still in Latvia, but
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: after we were done hunting. So I'm using Linda's rifle.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: It's like a seven mag pretty big rifle for shooting
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: a raccoon. You've got to suppress her on it. We're
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: in the stand. I don't know, maybe not quite. Uh,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: just a small little chunk of private um. It was
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: part of the hunting club that we have success to.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: You know, I should know this this number for you
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: if you want to get into that very quickly. I
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: can try to sum it up. The way these hunting
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: clubs work is bigger or smaller than Doug Durn's. I
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: don't actually know where once private property might have started
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: and when the one ended in the next one started.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: There was so much land that there's I don't think
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: you can walk at all in a week of walking
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: to go through all the properties, different parcels here and
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: there exactly. And one hunting club has it's up to
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: them to make leases or deals or handshake agreements with
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: all of the private properties within their zone that they're
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: given by the federal government to operate their hunting club.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: The wow, yeah, So like your hunting club is Gallatin County,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: that's right, And then you gotta go like, okay, sweet, no,
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: I gotta go talk to everybody in Gallanton County. The
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: state and federal land are pretty much automatically going to
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: be part and you play like a small lease to
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: to work on those everybody else. And what's interesting is
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: you have to make it contiguous, so you can't have
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: too many you can't I forget what the distance was,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: if it was fifty hundred fifty between two. But you
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: couldn't just have like, well we got a giant four
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: one down here, and then a mile up the road
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: we got another one. No, they've got to be continuous.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: So this one hunting club that I hunted with, and
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: that's coming from the government. Yeah, I mean no, they
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: have a They the hunters complained a lot about how
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: the government makes rules completely unknowingly, you know, for no reason.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: It doesn't do anything for them, and the hunters, you know,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: are saying, we should be trying to we they try
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: to inform them, help them make better rules, and you
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: know they're working on it's a work in progress. Ah.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: But yeah, this particular hunting club had four hundred separate
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: agreements with separate landowners. Well what but we did it.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: We did a drive where I was walking for over
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: an hour from one road to another. M so giant
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: you know, track to land egg land mixed like northern Wisconsin,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: northern Minnesota where it gets a little bit more sprucy
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: and birche and swampy. You could pluck yourself out of
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: atvia and get dropped in those places or swap places,
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: and you want to know the difference. Very much cut
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: up like fifty fift A lot of forestry, so a
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: lot of like successional growth that you see around. Um,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: there's they're cutting a lot. Drunk guys drinking old fashions.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: M hmm. I didn't see too much of that Wisconsin
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: and that we're not. Was just trying to figure out
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: how how like Wisconsin just the landscape landscape UM as
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: a drink at straps roasting on an open fine pack frame,
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: strapped with heavy loads, mule deer bucks pushed down from
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: much higher and folks in blaze orange heavy clothes. Everybody
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: knows a cold snap and some steady snow. We'll make
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: them mule deer hunting. Prime broadcast guys with their eyes
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: all aglow will dream of heavy tips. Tonight rushed the lines.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: La la la la la la la. He's coming in
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: waves involved. He's la la la la la la la down.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: We now firstlide apparel falla la la la la la
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: la la cut them down with blasting barrels. La la
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: la la la la. Set the scene for me a
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: little bit too. So you're on the parcel, you're in
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: a timbered section and they got an established bait or
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: they just they just behind blind placed very established. This
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: guy Cospars, who was my like Linda's kind of right
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: hand man that hunted with me a lot for the
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: red stag. He had basically carved out, I don't know,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: a ten foot long log that was two ft in
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: diameter and made a trough huh, and literally had it
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: placed up on you know, post on either end, so
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: it's like an elevated trough that he could put the
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: bait into. Wow. Yeah, if that was necessary better than
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: just having a pile, I don't know, but he had
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: that and it was you they're using trail camps. Yeah,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: they used to pictures of hogs coming and he would
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: just drive by the field. So basically behind us was
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: a field and this was kind of into the brush
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: and into the wood and there was a little clearing
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: around the bait and he would drive by the uh,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: the field at night, run the thermal um. They do
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: thermals like we do day scouting. Like still driving moving
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: at night, ten mile looking through a thermal on a field,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: No big deal. Everybody's doing it. Just like yeah, there's
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: critters there, there's not critters there. You know this cruising along.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: They'll use it in the daytime, like coming up on
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: a place and you got like a block of forest
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: ahead of you. I mean, I don't know how far
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: thermal works into the woods, but we'd be looking across
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: a small clearing that was maybe a hundred yards hundred
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: fifty yards and then there'd be woods, and he glassed
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: the trees and like, not nothing here, let's go right
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: to Like, no, if there's creators, you know, in the
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: in the area. And I was kind like, come on, guys,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: and I'd already told him are a fog that grizzly
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: bear story. And They're like, well, what if you had
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: had thermals in that situation when that had been nice
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: to know that bear was in the area. And I
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: was like, good point, good point, um sitting bait, sitting bait,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: And yeah, no, it was already after dark. We climbed
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: in after dark. I think we've been hunting until dark
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: for stags or something. And uh yeah, so I'm nodding off,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: super quiet. We're not talking. I'm nodding off every now
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: and then we turn our thermal on, look through it,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: check the bait station, nothing there, turn it off. Then
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: in the pitch black, complete darkness, I just hear Linda
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: say Yann to Tuli Normandies took petermore. I was like,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: oh shit, it's on she said. She said, Yanni, you're
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: gonna kill your first raccoon dog. Oh man, I wanted
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: to go out for candlelight dinner. Yeah, yeah, and us
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: I turned on my thermal and there he is creeping
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: around the bait pile, probably hunting the mice and whatever
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: varmints and stuff that might have been, like he doesn't
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: want the corn. Linda didn't think so so different from
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: a raccoon in that way too, because just like it's
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: a little canine. Yeah. So he just sits down on
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: his haunches right next to the bait bay pile, you know,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: and I'm getting its complete darkness. So I'm feeling around
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: on a gun that I'm not familiar with, and uh,
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: and that gun's got a thermal scope. Yeah, it's a Blazer.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: I don't know how much you've used the Blazer, but
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: they got a safety. That's it's the world right now
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: for how safe it is. But you really got to
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: like press and work it up. It's like a tank safety,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: you know that you work with your thumb the safety. Yeah,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: I don't remember that, but I think I click it off.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: I go to shoot. No often, right, I haven't clicked
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: it off enough, so a little flustered. Finally get it off,
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: you know, I'm getting like Linda's helping me, and finally
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: we'd get the safety off and then I get a
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: scope on it. But before scope is quite on it,
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: I'm like god, and like totally totally miss him. It's
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: back up what happened. I basically had the scope on him,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: and I'm putting my finger like into the trigger card,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: getting ready, you know, to get on it. And she's
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: got a light trigger set up on that sucker. And
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: I touched off a glove on No, no glove cheez, Yeah,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I know, So I miss him. Well lucky did she
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: say that? Well? It was she had a bay Old
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: suppressor on that thing. And uh, luckily Diana was on
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: my side that night. And that little sucker looks at
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: the hole that I just say next to him, and
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: he goes back to just sitting there. So I chambered
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: another one and yeah, and I didn't remember, and so
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: I shot him on the the third time I pulled
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: the trigger second shot. Did you guys get any of
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: this on footage? Like, did you guys have night vision?
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: You know? The my scope had it and we ended
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: up because we were doing so much fumbling around. We
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: have roughly a second of the raccoon dog in the thermal,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: so we'll see and how much how many pounds do
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: you we? Their metric over there? Yeah, so you shot
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: a ten pound raccoon dog with a seven millimeter m meg. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: pretty pretty big hole luckily with the way he was
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: because they were planning on raccoon dogs. They were planning
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: on big yeahs. Yeah, and you know, yeah the hogs,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: do you have a little bit more of a husky
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: appearance to them there? I only saw I saw most
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: of them at night in thermal. I didn't hunt really
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: hunt them. But the one I saw when we were
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: sitting waiting on a red stag to come into a meadow,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: m one rolled out and he just had a real,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: just tunned husky kind of build to him. Another time,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I look at pictures of those things, real wire hair
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: like rushing for kind of yeah. Like if you go
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: online and look up, don't type in like Siberian, but
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: like go online and searchery looking at actual northern European
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: wild hogs, they just got like more uniformity. Yeah, so
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: you're not like, oh, there's a white one or a
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: black one green. They all have that black gray. They
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: just look more like a woods creature man, you know. Yeah,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: and they like the hides over there. Interestingly, there was
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: a lot of um pig hides that have been you know,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: done up and on the wall, draped over something, even
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: though it's bristly. Yeah. Oh, speaking of that too, you
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: were saying that it's real popular to put a beaver
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: hide on your car seat both in winter and homer
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: warm asy in the winter, cools you in the summer
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: swear by it cooling on your buttocks. But people had
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: them in their house. People had them in their houses
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: just on like a on a you know, wooden chair.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: There'd be a beaver hide laying there on the couch.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: There might be two or three next to each other
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: to sit down on. Are they prime beaver furs or
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: do you know what I mean? Do they have that
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: they're real thick undercoat or are they you know, I'm
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: not gonna be able to answer that. How are they
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: getting the beaver hides? Was an item you'd buy for
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: that purpose, or is it you know, someone that gives
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: you one. No. No, they hunt them. They're into hunting them,
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: not trapping them. I would say, they're there of beavers
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: over there are hunted and killed and then less than
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: ten percent are trapped. You didn't go do that? No? Okay?
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: Did you try to eat the raccoon dog? I offered
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: it up, I mentioned it, and you know, it's like
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: a one in Rome kind of thing, and uh, they all,
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: you know, spat on the ground and we're like no,
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: if we're you know, in leaner in leaner times, yes,
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: but we're not gonna eat the raccoons. Can you freeze
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: it and bring it back in the yetty cooler for
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: part of my plate? What are you gonna do with
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: the raccoon dog hide? Uh? It is actually being tanned
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: right now in Lithuania and my skull already got cleaned up.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: So it's it's in route I think from Latvia. So
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: I got my little trophy. Why in Lithuania not Latvia?
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: I was born in Lithuania, share a little blood. I
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: just think that that's because that's where the nearest tannery is.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: It's a slat. He's a small place. I mean we're
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: talking like a state the size of Indiana. You can
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: drive across the whole country in a day easily, and
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: that's going east west. If you go the short route
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: north south, you'd probably be done in five six hours.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: It's a small I mean, one point six million people
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: was not that much. We have cities way way bigger
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: than that um and more than half of them, like
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: almost a million live in Riga, the capital city, So
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: when you get out to the countryside, it's pretty spars. Well,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: what was the tell us about another hunt you did
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: there where something or not or whatever. Well, I gotta
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: first tell you about how I didn't get something. So
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: it was the second morning we're red deer hunting kind
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: that ended up being what we were going to focus on,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: and I was hunting with this guy Costpars. He was
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: the name K A. S. P A r. S. He
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: was the sort of the hunt leader. He wasn't the
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: club's president, but he was the hunt leader. So on
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: the day that we did the driven hunt, he organized everything.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: All your hunting happening at your Hosts Hunt club, Yes,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: which is spread aloverd No, No, actually she's she don't
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: even know if she specifically belongs to a hunt club.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: She floats around. Um, she hunts a lot internationally. Like
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: for them to go over to hunt in Sweden, it's
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: like for us going to hunt in Wyoming. It's just
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: not a big deal. Um. So I'm with Coss Bars.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: The first evening, I think we we hear three or
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: four stags roaring, which is an amazing sound. Like I did,
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: I hadn't google search it before I went over. I
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: actually have have you you've probably heard him. I heard
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: it in real life, and play it. Here's Coss Bars,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: who's doing that? Isn't that? Isn't that? I'm sorry about that.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: That sounds like metal. That's more like a lion. Play
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: that again, that's a great sound, Chess for it was
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: pretty close. It sounds like yeah, yeah, it's basically a
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: bugle tube, but it it um three parts and yeah,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: it accordions in and out and they kind of worked
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: at as they're making the sound. Yeah. No, I'm telling you,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: if you're just walking down a country road in Michigan
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: and a red stag went off and you didn't know
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: that that creature lived in your neighborhood, it would freak
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: you out. I mean, and you heard some ripping off
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: in the woods. Yeah, all the time. So yeah, I
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: got a lot of stories about the roar, but this
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: particular one, well, getting get into my missed opportunity. We
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: get it, we we we see on the first evening,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: but he's like not the right size. They were. They
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: had a very selecting idea of selective hunting, all based
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: on antlers, which is one of the things that was
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: very similar to some of the hunting that goes on
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: here in the States. Like one to five years old,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: don't shoot because we don't know his potential yet. Uh,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: six to ten if he's big and has but he
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: has like good tops, meaning like good crowns where there's
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: like three or four or four or more points up top,
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: don't shoot because we want him to get over ten
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: to realize his full potential, and shoot him at twelve,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: thirteen or fourteen. But the one you're looking for, since
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: since you're a guest, you can't shoot the big big dog.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: But the one that we perfect for you would be
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: six to ten years old. But he has a y
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: on one side or both sides, and they think that
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: that gene of that wise in there and they want
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: all those wise called out. No amount of talking to
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: heffel Finger is gonna talk him out of that. Probably,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: I don't know. We I did some chat with him,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: and I was like, because in one sense, they're very
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: much like, we want to let nature do its thing
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: and it's all natural. And I'm like, but hold on,
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: this calling thing that you guys are injecting here is
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: not necessarily h you're doing her things. So you're talking
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: about it. Both tell you you can get a stag
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: if he's over six and has a y on one
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: or both sides. And but this is kind of it's
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: a rule for everybody, right. They really just didn't want
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: to not in the actual law, No, not at all.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: This is a this is like they're the way they
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: do it at this particular and they would have it
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: be that you came all the way back to America
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: with no stag rather than violate that law. Well, listen,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: here's a deal. Now. I think I could roll in
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: there and they would gladly have me shoot whatever. But
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: for cost parts. To get it approved, he had to
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: go to the board of the club, eight members. Four
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: of them said no, we're gonna basically come in and
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: pay the dudes like we've often done other places like
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: where that sort of is the set up, but we
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: want to only go there and hunt for a week.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: That deal for this this the yeah, that's right. Yeah,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: we had to help pitch in with your pitch in
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: what it costs to be like an annual member even
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: though you're only gonna be there five days, and trying
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: to make it as though you're not just being getting
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: a special treatment, right for half of the group was like, Nope,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: don't need any strangers, don't need any guests, don't care
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: who this guy is, don't need him. But like, but
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: he's a laughing eagle, he's got a power ring. Oh
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: so they board there's a board of eight and four
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: our No, yeah, so that just awkward for you to
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: be there. Then, well, no, they didn't tell me this beforehand.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: They didn't tell me, right, So I just went in
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: there as a guest. It was all good. Later I
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: found out and in the evening of the driven hunt,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: when there was a fair amount of alcohol consumed, the
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: four guys that talked my ear off and we're attached
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: to my hip like we're like had a belt between
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: the two of us. Were the four nos. Yeah, and
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: so I think by the end of the Driven Hunt,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: because m we we gotta, we gott we're gonna get
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: way too far ahead of Yes, big time. You know
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: what they're after. No, they want to come hunt with
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: you here. You know, I offered it up and it
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: wasn't They weren't jumping on the on the invite. After.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: I think they just realized that I was just okay, dude,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: and and everything. So they're they're like being protective and
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: they're like, oh, he's not that bad. I think they
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: had bad experiences with you know, just guests. You know,
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: some guy comes in with a bunch of money and
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: it's just like, well, I just want to hunt, and
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: you know they don't. They take safety very seriously there,
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: and so you know, you don't have a record on
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: how you are with the you know, how you operate.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: You want him over by not being an idiot. Yeah,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: the second morning of my red Deer hunt, we get
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: into a bull right pretty much at daylight. Coustpars is
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: calling him we sneaking in? What's getting into a bull?
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Mean he's ripping off in the world. Yeah, Cosparus kind
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: of had had been scouting he knew some certain zones
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: where bulls had been hanging out, you know and roaring, right,
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: and so he's like, we're gonna go check this spot.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: We kind of we creep in there. There's one roaring.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: We get closer, You get closer, can't see him. Cost
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Part starts calling. He kind of walks out of the
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: you know, timber, and pops out. Cost Parts gets a
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: good look at him. He's like, no, that's one of those.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: It's like nine or ten. But he's got the great
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: big tops and we need to let him go for
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: another three or four years or whatever. Was it similar
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: to Montana elk like during the rut? Yeah, some of
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: them had harems. Um. I think talking to more people later,
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: I think it's you know, and like it is with
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: a bull elk with with a harem, it's hard to
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: call him away. You're definitely calling him just to kind
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: of keep him talking and try to get in close
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: to him. Was there an equivalent to like cow calling
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: or was it all roaring but you're hunting with a rifle,
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: so it's not like, yeah, you didn't have to get
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: too close. But surprisingly, and again, I mean all my
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: European honey experience up to this point is Steve's stories
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: from when he's been over there, you know, and and
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: how people like basically like it's so easy, you know,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: and it ain't real hotting over there in Europe. I'm
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: not saying you say that that is a common that
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: is a common yeah, you know, you know, come on, No,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: I'm just saying that I didn't have any experience. You know,
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: I've heard what what you what your experiences, and uh, yeah,
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I don't think that you felt like you had to
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: like work your tail off when when you was in Ireland.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: I went to Scotland and hunted the red deer and no, yeah,
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: we walked, and he knew I like to take big walks,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: so we walked a weird route. Just take a big
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: walk to get back to them. That sounds about right.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I bet you could get over everyone that way and
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: over that way, So let's do that. He's a good
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: guy where we just drive up and get him. So
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: we decided to check like a second spot that morning
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: and to set the stage in where my head's at.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: It's early in generally in my trip to Latvia, I've
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: been in the country for four days now, two days
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: in the country. Two days only in these woods, not
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: even a full day really is like an evening hout.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: And this is the next morning. So I'm new to
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: the landscape, new to the habitat, new to the animals,
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: and so far, it's like Diana is just like marching
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: them in front of me, you know, and cost Press
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: is like, no, not quite the right one, you know.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: I'm like, this isn't gonna be too hard, right, So
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: we come up on this clear cut, it's maybe like
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: two or three years old. We're staying there. Cost Press
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: calls nothing answers, were there for a while, long enough
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: to where we almost start chit chatting and now looking
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: the clear cut and all of a sudden, there's just
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: a bull feeding stag. I'm like, oh, look there he is.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Cost Parts glasses him. He's like, dude, that's the one,
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: like eight or nine years old, Like nice crown on
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: one side. Why on the other, Like, let's shoot him. Well,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: the day before we're talking shot placement and he's like,
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: if you can, try not to shoot him right in
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: the shoulder, which they which is they had a cool
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: name for the they call it to shovel. Yeah, And
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: he's like, don't shoot him in the shovel because we'll
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: lose a lot of meat and there's a good chance
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: that we'll be selling some a lot of this animal,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: which I'll tell you why later. So if you can
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: just try to shoot him behind the shoulder, this bull
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: is just stand there hunter fifty yard or so, but
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: feeding but quartering too hard. If I was hunting bull
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: out here in public, Montana, I would just shot him
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: in five seconds. It's just been like get on him
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: and touch off and done. Deal some I'm waiting and
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: I'm waiting, and he's just feeding like not a care
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: in the world wins good waiting waiting five minutes goes
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: by at least, and he's just kind of feeding but
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: not giving me broadside shot, you know, long enough to
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: where I lose my focus and I'm on these like
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: shooting sticks with it supports the front and the back,
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: but it's one pivot point underneath. And I look over
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: my shoulder to say something to cost Bars, like, oh,
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: isn't that like just how it would be that this
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: animal is like right here wor us, but it's not
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: going to offer up a broadshot shop And the time
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: it takes me to say that, how you say that
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: by test now col Chavvy and peel Nsan is something
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: like that, and gonna be a little bit more time,
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: not long, You're gonna get to learn another Laptian word.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Right now. I look back and the bull is gone,
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: the stag is gone, seriously gone, disappeared. And I hear
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: behind me yawn to North Chuck it a and I'm like,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: I've never heard this word in my life, North Chuckada,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: and I look over and cuss Bars, who have also
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: known for roughly twenty four hours at this point, pretty
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: jovial guy, like we would all very much get along
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: with them. Hell of a fisherman catches pike and wallet
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: like they're going out of style. He's the blood has
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: dropped out of his face. He's like the pale and
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: he's as deadpan serious as I've seen this guy that
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: I've known him for a day. And he's like to
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: nout Chuck today, and I'm like what, I'm like, no, No,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: I'm like he's gonna still be there, like we've just
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: been watching for ten minutes or more, you know. And
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: so I'm like looking around and customers has like left
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: the building. He's not laughing, he's just standing there like
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: kind of drooped over, just like dude, and basically Nor Chuck,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: and ay, is you fucked up? Like you funked up
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: as in like you had the opportunity right there and
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: you just let it just slip right out of your
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: hands like a like a muff to the nth degree,
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: like you just muffed it bad. Like there it was.
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: He gave you this because he was watching binoculars. So
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: as I turned to say something, the bull turns. We
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: didn't know there was a cow there or behind, and
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: he pushed behind and they both went in behind this
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: little cops of trees, never to be seen again. And
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: uh so we hunting there for like I'm trying to
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: like stay in the game, and so we stay there
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: for another ten fifteen minutes. They're just they're gone. They're gone.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: He can't find them on the thermal. They just they disappeared,
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: North Chuckada. And what's interesting there is other versions of that.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: There's like it which would be like something like you
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: could even tell your kids, like which just means like
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: you kind of like messed it up. But North Chuck,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: it is like, yeah, you just really really funked up,
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: and uh we even we hunted that same spot that
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: night because it was like the type of bowl that
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: was perfect for me to kill. So we hand that
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: spot that night. I think we were even there the
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: next morning. We built customarus is just like he goes
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: and to get more advantage, he goes and grabs a
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: chainsaw and in like an hour has basically built us
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: a tree stand out of um I was probably like
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: a lodgepole pine or whatever it is, similar to that
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: grows in Latvia. And uh so we sat up in
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: this you know, homemade dear stand for at least two
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: hunts and that bowl never never appeared again. And we
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: hunted for three more days and never got another opportunity.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: And what was interesting, Yeah, we saw a couple of others,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: but it got a lot harder. Like we'd hear them
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: roaring or whatever, but they just wouldn't come out of
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: the woods. They wouldn't come into the fields. You know.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: They'd like we'd be watching one field and you'd hear
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: the bull kind of working out towards a different field,
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: and they don't like it's just not part of their
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: hunting tactics to like creep in there into the woods
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: after him. You know, it is but he felt like
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: with you know us two and two photographers, it was
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: gonna be tough. He used the chainsaw. Well, we left
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: the woods and did that in different location and then
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: carried it into the spot. Yeah, we carried like a
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: homemade wooden tree stand. Um, I don't know, like a
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: half a mile it was. It was not easy. Got
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: a little working in the afternoon. Um, so doesn't let
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: it go. The guys really loved Tyler and Joe and
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Jason that were with me. They really love this new
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: word that they've learned North Chuckoday and every everything like
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: there was no more nimming, which stands for not a movie,
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: which is what the guys like to say when they
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: get a shot. When they take a shot, but it's
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: not going to be used in an episode, it's called
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: a nim not in movie. But nim got thrown out.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: It was like, don't know Chuckoday or you know Chuck
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: Aday that all week and cost parts would correct them
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: and be like that was like a little baby nor Chuckoday.
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: But honest did the other day Big North Chucky like
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: just grilling me. I'm like, bro, you don't know me.
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: We've only been hanging out for like hours and you're
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: just like just hammering me alright, but it's the great
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: segue to the driven hunt. So at the end of
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: four days of red sack hunting on the just burning
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: up your trip on this, Yeah, that was kind of
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: the plan. Anyways, we we did, like I had a
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: pig come out in front of me, but we're waiting
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: on a red dag and Cospos is like, you want
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: to shoot the pig and he uhould pig. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: I don't know, should I shoot the pig? Like we're
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: here red stag hunting and I'm like, yeah, I think
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: I should shoot the pig, and like I put the
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: gun up, and right as I'm putting the gun up,
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: that little pig stops. You can see his nose twitch
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: one way and the other, and he turns ninety and
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: runs off and is like he's like it wasn't Diana
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: says no on the pig. I'm like, dang it, no pigs. Um.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: So the driven hunting day, we meet at the clubhouse,
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: like forty people roughly big group. Does this look like
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: you had a picture It looks like beer Stein's and no, no, no, no, okay.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: So so they do like alcohol there. Uh, just as
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: much as they like it in Wisconsin. But you do
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: not mix alcohol. You do not mix alcohol at all. Yeah,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: they're drinking wine like you can't have as a gun owner.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: If you if we had a designated driver that was
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: completely sober and you and I had some drinks, but
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: we had a d D that was driving into the house,
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: I'm talking about beer steins and stuff. Ye, so yeah
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: we got back onto alcohol. Okay, go ahead. Yeah if
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: if basically you if the person was pulled over for
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: speeding even though they were sober as a ghost, but
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: you and I had a couple of beers in us
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: and our rifles were in the car with us, that'd
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: be the end of your rifle privileges. Privileges done like
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: like you can you can't be in presence of your gun.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: You can't be like an easy possession. So they have
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: a huge locked vault in this for anybody that's gonna
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: do some serious drinking and then hang out and possibly
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: sleep in the bonk house or whatever. There's a gun
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: safe vault that everybody puts their guns in there if
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: you're gonna do any kind of drinking at all, and
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: it's locked and don't know where the keys are. So
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: if the cops roll in, you're like, yeah, my guns
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: in there. I don't know where the keys are. I
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: cannot get to it. Otherwise, you better take your gun
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: home and then come back and put it in the
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: safe at home and have it locked up there. Can't
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: be drunk around your gun. No, it is serious. That
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: sounds pretty respectable. So forty people get together. The President
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: gives a kind of an overall speech, a rah rah rah.
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: We've got, um, you know, a great club together. We're
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: all great people. Let's be great hunters. Let's do this
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: as as respectfully as we can. They acknowledge you being
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: there if you hadn't paid your dudes, pay your dues.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: I don't think he did. I think cops barters then did.
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: When he he got he basically was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: the guy that's been sucking up all week. Um, I
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: want to say about that. I think had that happened
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: the third morning and having some highs and lows and
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: some experiences with the animals and the landscapes, I wouldn't
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: have had I would have had that laser focus of
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: someone that's ready to kill in frederator mode. But that
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: first morning I was just like, this is great. You
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: know yet yeah yeah, I wasn't. I wasn't ready. Um
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: so yeah, customer said, hey, we got a film crew here.
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: You know, he explained the whole thing, what's gonna be happening.
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: If anybody doesn't want to get filmed, you know, let
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: us know, etcetera, etcetera, and um, he basically rolls out
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: what's gonna happen. So everybody lines up in a row.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: That's gonna be hunting. There's a group of the drivers
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: some place in Europe. They call him beaters, but what
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: do you guys call him? Seth chasers and watchers. Chasers
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: are the ones who are chasing the animals. Sounds like
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: D and D or something. Drivers and posters, drivers and standards,
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: push pushers. Yeah, and Latvian it's a Zena's would be
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: a single driver. I think the closest translation would be
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: a driver someone driving. Well, they don't say sitter. I
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: mean that would just be something like a cosa sage
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: to get a med. Next it would be a hunter.
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: You're just a hunter. So the differentiation is like hunters
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: and pushers exactly. So the pushers aren't armed. Nope, no,
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: not armed. They already know who they're gonna be. It's
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: as much smaller group than I thought it was gonna
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: because you think they know who they're going to be. Well,
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: here's a deal. You don't. You don't get to be
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: a hunter until after you've done three years of pushing
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: no matter your age don't matter. And now this this
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: is a club rule. This isn't a federal rule. This
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: is a club rule. So if you want to like
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: and what's interesting is like the if it was the
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: day before and you're just going on a spot and
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: stock hunt, you can take your gun and go and
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: do your hunt. But when it's like the driven hunt,
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: there you gotta beat the bush for three years and
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: then you get to be home and they're holding you
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: to this. They weren't going to I held myself to
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: it thinking that I'd get opportunities because we're gonna do
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: it at least a couple of drives, and then maybe
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: at the end I'd be like, all right, are they
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: as part of that safety because of safety like picking
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: your shot or is it just like making the new
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: guy put his time in? I think both. So the
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: drivers aren't carrying. No, really the drivers do you have
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: a lot of dogs? They love their dogs. Some of
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: the hunters even had dogs and they'd be like they
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: would just walk up to me and be like, here
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: take these three, and you have three and then I would,
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: you know, walk him or drive to wherever what we
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: old we were starting on and then walk him into
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: the woods with me ten yards cut them loose. Yeah.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: What kind of dogs did they have? Uh? There was
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: a bunch of Siberian like us was one and it
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: looks like a small There were different colors. Some of
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: them were wider gray and some of them were black.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: But they look like the same kind of shape and fur.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: I'd say, just like a husky. Yeah, like a Norwegian
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: l count. Have you ever seen in We had a
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: Norwegian alcount. It was like a small, pretty burly husky. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: I met another guy that uses that those dogs for moose,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: that they bay moose up with dogs and then they
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: sneak in and shoot the moose. Um. So everybody gets
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: in a row and they guy with a hat comes
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: by and there's tiles in there with the numbers one
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: through thirty or whatever it was on there. Everybody picks
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: the number out of there. Then they would reorganize one
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: through thirty and then the first six would go with
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: so and so, the next six would go so and so.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: And that was way to break up the group. And
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: so it's not to play favorites with spots, right, So
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: that way the guy that's like always good the shooting
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: spot where nothing runs by me, you'd be like, dude,
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: we mix it up by numbers that you know, is
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: there not a leader that took you to one Mega
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: drive or a bunch of little drives? We ended up
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: doing three mega drives And and is it like are
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: they standing in like tower blinds or is there like
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: specific spots they gotta be or driven the same country
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: over and over, you know for years and years and years.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: So there's definitely like just like you would back home
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: if you've driven the same like we's Russ in Michigan.
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: You know Doe Hills where you need to stand because
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: the dolls are gonna come un across Doe Hill, you know. Um,
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: but very strict rules when the dude places you. So
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: Cosbro has had like five sub generals or sergeants that
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: would take the smaller like take five each and go
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: down one line, and then that guy would set five
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: people in a row, and then the other guy would
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: set five people over here whatever. And when they set
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: you there, they're like, you can take two steps in
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: any direction and that's it. You stay in that circle
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: until the drive is over and you're picked up by me.
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: That's it. And it actually it made sense because I
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: literally was three steps out and I had to turn
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: back on a stag. So I'm sitting as a hunter
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: as a shooter. You I can hear the dog coming
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: pretty excited, and then I can hear the hoofbeats in
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: the woods and they're they've actually crossed like a little
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: meadow and they're on this wooded ridge and the ridge
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: is pointing right towards me, so that I know that,
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: I'm feeling like the stag or this animals gonna run
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: off this point. You judge, you still can't shoot them. Yeah, well,
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: Linda standing next to me and she's gonna help me. Wait,
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: I thought you weren't. So this was the third drive.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: So I worked as a as a beater for two,
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: as a driver for two, and then I was gonna
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: do be another and they're like, please, please please. I
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: was like, dude, I'm I'm a born driver, like I'm
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: all good, like I like walking the woods. Diana says,
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: it so that right, but they were basically like no, no, no,
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: like you've proven your worth. What I did too on
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: this I can't remember. I think of the second drive.
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: I showed up and there's a couple of moose down,
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: and I offered to gut one of the moose and
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: rolled up my sleeves, gutted it and pulled it out.
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: And that gave me huge props that like I just
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: jumped in and got the work done, you know, and
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: didn't the hunter didn't have to do it. And so
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: they were like, no, no, no no, you hunt, you hunt.
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: They could have told me a little bit earlier that,
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: like go ahead and shoot any stag that runs out.
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: Later they're like, yeah, you should have shot, because I
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: actually had to run by me. But you like, but
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: for days, yeah, I know, did you did you ever
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: point out that like that seemed to be at odds
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: with the whole Diana says, it's so like because because
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: he's telling you not to shoot, and Diana is putting
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: the deer in front of you, are stags one that
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: stab it's coming down them the rich, the wooded rich
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: pops out into the meadow, but off to my right,
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: I've got a little roll, and so he runs below
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: the role. If we were hunting again here and that
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: happened to you, you just I would I had to
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: run ten or fifteen yards and I wouldn't be able
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: to peek over the horizon. And turns out another shooter
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: does down from me. Could see him standing there, but
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: he couldn't shoot at it because it was, you know,
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: like been too close to me basically his bullet. But
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: I could have run over there and easily killed it.
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: And so I had taken three steps, and Linda was like,
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: I was like all right, Like even when it comes
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: down to getting something, they don't want you to move
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: totally because basically, as soon as you move out of
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: your spot, the dudes on either side of you are
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: like expecting you to be in a spot. And so
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: if something comes out for them and they go to
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: swing and you're not in your spot, your dumb Americans
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: safety very very serious about the safe. Well, the age
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: class here is frightful. If it's brown, it's down and rife.
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: I'm sick of just spikes. Sin does let him grow
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: at him, Grow at him. Grow. It doesn't show signs
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: of stopping, and the bus seems safe from dropping to
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: six points. Sambo let him grow, at him, grow at him,
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: grow It comes grizzly claws. Here comes grizzly claws tracking
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: me through the range. If he comes around, will squeeze
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: a full round and hope he won't be back again.
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: He's all running, won't stop coming, Let off all hunting
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: shot empty, cly Ben, say your PRIs because grizzy claws
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: ain't going to stop. Nope. So we ended up getting
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: a think three moves and two red deer hinds that day.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: No hogs that yeah, no hogs were seen. The drives
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: are I don't want to say a free for all,
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: but it's like whatever comes through is fair. Yeah. They
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: did say with the road deer they prefer not to
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: shoot them on the drive because they're so small and
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: they're moving pretty quickly. There's a good chance when you
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: shoot them, you don't know where you're gonna hit them.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: It's just not a big enough target and you're gonna
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: lose a lot of meat um that evening. So they
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: decided on how much meat they were gonna keep and
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: split amongst the group. I forget how many animals it
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: was two or three like they might have done like
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: the two young moose and then maybe one of the hinds.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: All of it butchered on site. Like they had a
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: separate building from the clubhouse, which is which was called
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: the venatava, which basically, like the literal translation would be
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: the gutting house. Like Tovey did not means they is
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: wind and come back to that, but today did not
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: means to like open something up to let you know,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: air flow through it. And uh so everybody just chips
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: in and the next thing you know, you've got three
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: giant animals. They had these like plastic line shelves I
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: don't know, pretty long ten twelve feet long, and three
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: or four of them on one wall and then they
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: were plastic lines you could clean them, and there was
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: third or whatever. How many people were there? Thirty nine
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: forty piles of meat, shanks, ribs, backstraps, just piles for
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: ever for everybody. Piles. So again not how big is
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: each pile. Like if you had one of those like
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: four inch meat lugs you know that we like to use,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: it probably fill up two thirds of it. You know,
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: like multiple meals. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, like
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: nice nice, nice amount of meat. And now we just
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: did one driven hunt. They'll do that every Saturday and
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: maybe a Saturday and a Sunday until they're done sick
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: of hunting. Got it? Um, So that was just the
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: day's take, you know, and like they're like, okay, we'll
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: just take as much as we all need for the
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: day and then they're gonna sell it for what They'll
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: just sell the rest and they use the uh, they
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: use the funds for the club. And who do they
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: go and sell it to the local butcher meat shop
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: butchered already? No no, no, no, no no no, So
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: they butchered themselves and then they probably brought two whole
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: animals to the processors. So whatever they cut they keep, yeah,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: and then sell on sell it basically on the hoof,
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: gutted butt on the hoof. What's the market like? Are
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: they like getting a pretty penny? You know? I never
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: I meant to. We were gonna try to make it
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: to a market where they sold a while a game,
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: but we didn't. So is there is there a deal
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: that's highly regarded? Is there the deal with selling it though?
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: Is it like, of course we're gonna sell something, or
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: is it that everyone's like, oh, I don't really want that.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: I guess we'll sell some. With that many animals down,
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: it's of course we're gonna sell something. Yeah. So they're
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: not trying to fill giant chess freezers and stuff. No,
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: And they actually don't do too much freezing there. It's uh,
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: they do a lot of preserving of their meat. Like
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: everybody was busting out cans like actual um pop top cans.
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: You know. They have their own steel canners, so they're
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: making like potted meat homemade steel can totally. And they
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: would mix a lot of like they would do like
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: bore so that it would have the fat of the
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: of the pig, you know, in with their stagging moose meat.
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: A lot of sausages get made up, you know, but
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: I don't think have enough freezer's common practice like it
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: is here mhm. But so it's not to play favorites
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: with the meat and the stacks of meat, because you
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: could just eyeball it right and be like, I see
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: a huge chunk of backstrap over there, that's all ribbed me.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: You know, I had this little stick. I would walk
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: around and I'd point at a pile of meat, and
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: then a dude that wasn't looking at me was just
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: going down the list of names. Be like Stephen Ronella,
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: you'd come up with your meat lug. You come up
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: to the pile that I was pointing to stick at
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: and swipe it off the off the shelf and put
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: it and walk out. I'd go to another pile pointing stick.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: Brodie Anderson, you'd come over there, get your pile. So
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: would the heart get cut in half? Or is the
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: heart just the heart? Glad? Yes, this is one of
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: those interesting like some of the similarities. You know that
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: there's a lot of things that the hunters there, you know,
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: considered important to them and not important, and it might
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: have been completely different than for us. And there's a
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: lot of things that were just like the same old
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: pervasive wives tales just go on one being like organ, meat, heart,
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: and liver like actually we ate some liver that night,
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: uh and it was it was good. But like the heart.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: I see one guy he walks up to get his
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: meat and he's got three hearts in his tup already.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: I'm like, how did you get all of those? He's like,
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: nobody else wanted him. I'm like, you're telling me, out
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: of forty people here, you're the only guy that wanted
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: the hearts. And he's like, yeah, I don't tell anybody
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: about how good they are. I'm like, yeah, wow about tongues.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: You know, I didn't catch where the tongues went, but
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: they did come out of the end. Yeah. One guy though,
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: this old guy comes up and he comes up to
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: his pile and he's like, ah, nothing but bones, nothing
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: but bones, you know. He's yelling at me, and I'm like, no,
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: these are shanks, Like you can do some awesome stuff
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: with these things. And they're already like they had a
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: band saw in the shop, so they're already like pre
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: beautiful asabuco chunks. And I'm like no, no, I'm like,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: I'll email your recipe. Like that's good stuff right there.
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: You just gotta know what to do with it. Um.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: Another thing was while I was spot and stock hunting
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: the red deer earlier in the week, another hunter got one,
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: so we went to go see it, go help him
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: pull out of the woods. Loaded up in the trailer.
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: Old guy and uh, I was asking about what he's
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: gonna do with it, how he's gonna preserve it or whatever.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: And he's like, oh, can't eat these stags in the rut.
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: I'm like really kind of look around the group, you know,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: and every single like vocal at mean, dude, he's like,
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: oh no, no, no, yeah, this like the meat is
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: just just rut stink. Just can't eat them. Oh yeah exactly.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: He's like, no, this thing is gonna go for others.
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: But it's just funny. I mean, how many times have
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: you It's no different than people here that are like,
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: oh yeah, stinky ruck buck. Like there are day someone's
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: telling my kids the reason white tails are better than
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: mulders because you know what they've been eating, right, So
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: what what did they like? Um? For people that aren't familiar,
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: like red deer lot very Millard Elk, but like what
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: like a bull compared to a stag? Like size wise,
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: the stags are definitely a little bit smaller, not by much,
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe smaller if I mean if one
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: ran across the road in front of you, and if
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: if it was just like a regular old six seven
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: year old stag, you just think it was a bull,
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: Elk'd be like a couple of extra points. But yeah,
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: be hard to tell. They got a brown maine. You know,
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: they might be a little bit reddish, more hued. But um,
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: but I still got that yellow rump and stuff don't
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: very elk like. UM. Tell about the death wind, the
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: death wind, Yeah, it's out of ash Uh, that's what
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: that's called. Wasn't there isn't there a guy blue wessel
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: is the death wind. It's not the death wind. I'm
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: mixing it up. It's called the something. So this has
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: nothing it's this has nothing to do with hunters. The
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: hunters believe in it it too, but it's just a general
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: Latvian superstition. This is the first thing he told me
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: called a through wind through wind, and it basically means
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: it's like a breeze, right, But a through wind doesn't
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: necessarily have to be like a breeze outside, Like if
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: you have a if you have two windows open in
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: a house and you have that breeze that's created, that
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: could be the through wind or a window on the door,
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: or let's just say you're even just in your yard
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: outside and two gates were opened and a breeze was
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: blowing through through the gates. Dude, And I'm recently talking
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: to more about this. Like when I was a Latinan
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: deer camp this year in Wisconsin, I was talking about
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: this story, and they're like, like literally trained doctors trained
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: in the United States States of America that practice in
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: Latvia will tell sometimes they're patients that the cause of
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: whatever said illness might be high likely koth hood through wind,
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: like especially around little kids around here, a lot of
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: grannies and and and you know, over protective moms, like
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: you want to make sure they always got shoes on.
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: You don't is wet because you're gonna get a cold.
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: But like there it's the through wind. To the point
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: where I walked into um, someone's house once while I
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: was there on this trip, and there's like the mother
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: in law, mom and toddler maybe three years of age
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: or so, and I'm I'm like the last one coming
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: through the door, hand on the door and I'm closing
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: it behind me. I mean, it was gonna take another second.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: And the mother in law was like, please please please
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: close the door. You don't want the through wind. We've
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: got a kid, We've got a toddler here in the room.
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: I'm like, but I'm like literally closing the door already.
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: But yeah, like it can cause serious like to the
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: point where on the buses on the public transportation, you
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: can only open one side of the windows on the bus. Okay,
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: Let's I went to a learned individual, perhaps a meteorologist
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: or someone like that. To I went to. Let's say
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: there was a meteorologist who then went to medical school. Okay,
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: I said, uh, I said to him, tell me, explain
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: to me like I'm ten, what what like? What is
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: the through wind doing to everybody? What would they say?
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: Is there no answer? It's afflicting you. It is causing
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: your problems. Stay out of the through wind. You have
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: a headache right now, Steve. It's not because you haven't
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: drank water for four day. It's because truck. But do
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: they line up like you know what you're talking about
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: the bus windows. Let's say there's a guy in the
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: front of the bus and he's got the left window
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: open and again in the back of the bus the
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: right window. That's not a through wind. It doesn't work
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: that way. It's gotta be more lined up. Yeah. If
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: it's going like across anything, across the room, across the yard,
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: across the through the house, it seems like it would
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: affect how they would like build houses for instance, like
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: it probably does, there'd only be one door and no windows.
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: I guess here's my question, just in to keep them tight.
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: Let me reask my question. I'm rechange my question. Okay,
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: it's not that the through wind is carrying something. It's
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: that the through wind is the thing. Oh yeah, okay,
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: that's what's causing. It's like the wind is of itself problematic.
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: And I wasn't gonna sit down and argue. He argued
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: his way from one of the sh I'll show you
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: through wind? How is you? How is your general experience? Though?
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: That did people like welcome you? Like where people are stoked?
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: Where people like would you be welcome back? Like with
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: all the film in and oh yeah, yeah for sure.
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: I mean we believe we tend to, you know, have
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: there's no chance of all those people back there like
- 2:00:21Speaker 1: he bought the through window. No, they're they're into it.
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: Do they think? Did they? What is what is their
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: opinion of a Latvian whose family split? Are you? Um uh?
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: Are you guys like honorary Latvians or you like sort
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: of like the furthest thing from a Latvian because you split? No?
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: They no they understand that, you know, are you know
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: my grandparents did what they had to do in those
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: in those times, you know, and and and had to leave,
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: had to leave the country. I only, I only they
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: hold any grudge. Huh. We're certainly you know different. But
- 2:01:10Speaker 1: is it is it generally is it generally considered that
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: that that if you left, you were pushed out? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: So it's like it's like Cubans that came into Florida
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: post revolution. It's sort of like you just it's taken
- 2:01:28Speaker 1: to be that you you left outside of you know,
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: you know, you were forced out, pushed out, fleeing. They
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: did think it was because I got there. Like well,
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: I was saying earlier, I talked to Latvian mostly now
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: in the last ten years, with you know, twenty or
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: less people on a regular basis. Right when I was
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: younger and I spent more time in the Latvian camp,
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: it might be in the hundreds. But even then, if
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: I didn't know you, I knew somebody that knew it. Right,
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: everybody's kind of friendly. But to be a place where
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: just all of a sudden, everybody, all these strangers around
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: you are speaking this language that you've always spoken with friends.
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: It was interesting, it felt cool. I wanted to go
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: up to everybody like, oh my god, this is awesome,
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: and they're like, yeah, dude, everybody here, um A lot
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: of them speak English. Yeah, like my bags are lost,
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: and the lady at the at the complaint counter or
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: the lost you know, baggage counter usually deals with irate people,
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: and I'm like, so awesome that we can have this conversation.
- 2:02:30Speaker 1: You're like the first person that I'm talking to in Lavia.
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: In Lavia and she's like, oh, bro, dude, take it
- 2:02:36Speaker 1: easy and like, no, you don't understand. So they thought
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: that was a little funny that I was so excited
- 2:02:42Speaker 1: about that, But it also gave me the opportunity to
- 2:02:44Speaker 1: look at um, just to have like a like a
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: more worldly, you know view, because you got too thinking
- 2:02:53Speaker 1: like there's a lot of like I like to go
- 2:02:55Speaker 1: to Lavia because it was exotic to me. Is in't
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: this place that everybody's speak Latvian, which I only had
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: to go to like special school on Saturdays to speak Latvian,
- 2:03:03Speaker 1: you know, or go to Latvian church or camp or whatever,
- 2:03:07Speaker 1: and they're like, it's just Latvia. Bro. A lot of
- 2:03:10Speaker 1: people leave here to go get make more money living
- 2:03:13Speaker 1: in England or Ireland, or are trying to get to
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: the States. Why you're saying people like broke as a
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: joke there. Yeah, like a lot of people make thousand bucks.
- 2:03:24Speaker 1: I'm off there and live off that. Um My friends
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: that you know, we're educated here and now live there.
- 2:03:31Speaker 1: You know, they've figured out a way and and and
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: do much better. They live, you know, not too dissimilar
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: life from us. You know, got to fun restaurants and
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: you know, have good time in the capital city, have
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: little places out on the beach, you know, but it's
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: not the average Latvians I'm living, you know. Do you
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: want to go back. Yeah, we're going in June. I'm
- 2:03:56Speaker 1: bringing the whole the whole crew. Now his daughters are
- 2:03:59Speaker 1: understand why he makes them speak Lavia. Yeah, we've been
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: working harder at that since I got that. Probably lights
- 2:04:05Speaker 1: fire under their ass on it or don't they get it?
- 2:04:07Speaker 1: They lit a fire under my ass to get to
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: do more of that. But yeah, to get there with them. Yeah,
- 2:04:13Speaker 1: are they like, man, what's that again in Latvia? Because
- 2:04:15Speaker 1: I'm going to Latvia? Or don't they kind of made
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: all that connection, you know, they are. You gotta catch
- 2:04:19Speaker 1: them in the right mood when they're when they're interested
- 2:04:21Speaker 1: to learn, you know, like with anything you know. And
- 2:04:24Speaker 1: when you guys go back, you'll you'll see something, You'll
- 2:04:26Speaker 1: see some those distant relatives. Yes, and you'll not go
- 2:04:30Speaker 1: you'll not go revisit friends you made on this trip. No,
- 2:04:35Speaker 1: I definitely will will. Oh yeah, No, I'm gonna hunt
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: a road deer when I go back. When you go
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: back in June. You know, Lavia is that the same
- 2:04:44Speaker 1: uh latitude as southern Alaska, and so you got you know,
- 2:04:48Speaker 1: a twenty hour day in June. And they say one
- 2:04:51Speaker 1: of the most beautiful things to do as far as
- 2:04:53Speaker 1: hunting goes in Latvia is to go hunt the road
- 2:04:56Speaker 1: deer in the middle of summer when you can literally
- 2:04:58Speaker 1: hunt them almost all night long and uh you know
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: it's still daylight, but you don't need to bring your
- 2:05:03Speaker 1: own guns and all that though. No, I'll just do
- 2:05:06Speaker 1: what the same thing I did this time, and just
- 2:05:08Speaker 1: get um, you know, get those get the email that says,
- 2:05:13Speaker 1: as long as you're with so and so, you can
- 2:05:15Speaker 1: use your wife, your daughters, you'll see family, you'll see
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: the the cotspits, you know that via sits on the
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: Baltic seat, and I didn't go see the Baltic seat.
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: So that's definitely all my list of things to do
- 2:05:29Speaker 1: and go beach combing for amber. Amber is one of
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: the look about I'm talking about amber, like when when
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: pine pitch falls. Okay, no, that is one of the
- 2:05:44Speaker 1: world's largest producers. Yeah, it's from them. It's the squid.
- 2:05:49Speaker 1: It's uh sperm whale something they form around squid beaks.
- 2:05:56Speaker 1: Yeh um. I want to tell you to wrap it
- 2:05:59Speaker 1: all up my time. You how north chuck A day
- 2:06:02Speaker 1: came full circle. We're on the last driven hunt and
- 2:06:08Speaker 1: uh Tyler Emmett was filming cost pars because that's where
- 2:06:11Speaker 1: all the action was, right, he was directing traffic all
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: day long. He was also a hunter. Was interesting too
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: about the hunters. Once they become hunters, don't expect them
- 2:06:21Speaker 1: to drive another foot of ground ever in their lives.
- 2:06:26Speaker 1: Like at those forty people, like I said, I'm like,
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: hold on, there's only six of us. Like, we've been
- 2:06:36Speaker 1: doing a lot better if we could get a couple
- 2:06:38Speaker 1: of recruits on this team. You know, I got a dog.
- 2:06:43Speaker 1: You know, we're a lot of the drivers young. Yeah,
- 2:06:47Speaker 1: there was a couple of dudes that were older that
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: were kind of life first, so I didn't ask questions.
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: But you know, you just gotta wander, like you know,
- 2:06:56Speaker 1: maybe they didn't have the right or the ability to
- 2:06:58Speaker 1: own or use the fire him anymore because the past decisions.
- 2:07:02Speaker 1: Maybe they just don't want to put the time and
- 2:07:04Speaker 1: effort into going. You know, maybe screwed up on getting
- 2:07:07Speaker 1: the paperwork. I don't know, but yes, there was definitely
- 2:07:11Speaker 1: some you know, twelve year old with me, and which
- 2:07:14Speaker 1: was cool. I actually have all those people. I think
- 2:07:16Speaker 1: there was like four or five female participants and they
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: were a couple. I think there was only one that
- 2:07:21Speaker 1: was actually haunting the rest of them what we're doing
- 2:07:23Speaker 1: the driving with me because you know, it was cool
- 2:07:26Speaker 1: to see that that over there where you might think
- 2:07:30Speaker 1: that you know, yeah, because you were saying it's real
- 2:07:32Speaker 1: hard to get youngsters involved in hunting there just simply
- 2:07:35Speaker 1: because they gotta wait so long to do it. Yeah, exactly, Yeah,
- 2:07:39Speaker 1: that you do all that, you gotta do your three years.
- 2:07:41Speaker 1: I mean, I wouldn't mind the pushing, but it's really
- 2:07:43Speaker 1: funny that they could wind up in a worse situation.
- 2:07:45Speaker 1: They could wind up where they got thirty some hunters,
- 2:07:47Speaker 1: they're down to two pushers. I don't know if it's
- 2:07:51Speaker 1: the same with like Seth Brody and anyone that's done
- 2:07:54Speaker 1: deer drives in the you know, as you were younger,
- 2:07:58Speaker 1: I remember having to be in the thick of it.
- 2:08:01Speaker 1: When I started. They were like, chat, you go out
- 2:08:04Speaker 1: and walk in the thick of the cat tails, and
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: it seemed like that's all I was doing, and I
- 2:08:09Speaker 1: just wanted to. We'd always switch off. Man, they push,
- 2:08:13Speaker 1: she said, push, she said. I like pushing because a
- 2:08:16Speaker 1: lot of times that's when you got shots, Like stuff
- 2:08:19Speaker 1: would run back through the drive. A good push, smart buck,
- 2:08:24Speaker 1: A good pusher gets some shooting for sure. Yeah, we
- 2:08:28Speaker 1: used to have some rabbit drives. Dude, gotta be exciting, man,
- 2:08:32Speaker 1: that we have this rabbit drive spot. It was this
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: one stump. Whoever got that stub stump, whoever got that stump.
- 2:08:43Speaker 1: It was like a stump that stood about six seven
- 2:08:45Speaker 1: ft off the ground on the hillside. If you got
- 2:08:47Speaker 1: that stump, you were going to get shoot. You know.
- 2:08:50Speaker 1: I felt good being on that stump. Tyler's Pilman cost Bus.
- 2:08:55Speaker 1: Cost Bus hasn't shot anything. Yeah, and all of a sudden,
- 2:08:59Speaker 1: Tyler's like, or Cosbers says, I can hear him, common
- 2:09:01Speaker 1: Costper says yeah. Or Tyler's like, yeah, I got him,
- 2:09:04Speaker 1: I can see him. He like actually points to this
- 2:09:06Speaker 1: cow and calf moose coming. They like he gets him
- 2:09:10Speaker 1: on camera. They pop right up in front, like fifty
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: yards in front of coust Bars pulls the rifle up. Nothing,
- 2:09:17Speaker 1: no click, nothing, and then the two animals just disappear
- 2:09:21Speaker 1: into the woods and cost Barus turns around and before
- 2:09:24Speaker 1: he can never even say anything, Tyler says, and the
- 2:09:31Speaker 1: bluff leffed his face again, and he just smiled and
- 2:09:34Speaker 1: lads and like it's gonna make for some great television.
- 2:09:39Speaker 1: He didn't want to separate the mom in the calf, no,
- 2:09:41Speaker 1: he uh. He had like an old Mauser style where
- 2:09:44Speaker 1: the in the safe old Mileser style rifle and it's
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: a very long throw those safeties, and he just hadn't
- 2:09:50Speaker 1: thrown his safety all the way and so that he
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: didn't fire his rifle. And oh yeah, it was great,
- 2:10:01Speaker 1: it was great. We have we have had we had
- 2:10:03Speaker 1: plenty of meat, so we didn't need to have another
- 2:10:05Speaker 1: moose on the ground. I got one last one for you?
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: What would be the norm? Like, what would be the
- 2:10:11Speaker 1: It's hard to answer this, but like what's the most
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: normal thing you're gonna make with a moose and laugh
- 2:10:17Speaker 1: you're or not? Or like what's un normal preparation someone's
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: gonna make for you? Not not counting canned outside of
- 2:10:23Speaker 1: can I'd say probably something like a pot roast. Yeah,
- 2:10:27Speaker 1: very simple cooking over there just across the board. Across
- 2:10:31Speaker 1: the board. Yeah, I mean you can go. You know,
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: they they have these you know, fancy market types, like
- 2:10:37Speaker 1: a fancy market that we went to and it's like
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: you walk in there, you might as well be in Bozeman, Montana.
- 2:10:42Speaker 1: There's like a pizza place and uh um, you know
- 2:10:46Speaker 1: uh hero place and you know, then there's a bar
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: at the end. It's got all these different micro brewis's therapist.
- 2:10:53Speaker 1: There's hanging from the ceiling, you know, some some Barton fabricae,
- 2:11:00Speaker 1: a should metal work with some wood floors. I mean,
- 2:11:03Speaker 1: you know the world has become smaller, you know what
- 2:11:07Speaker 1: I mean, because you just know what what the hip
- 2:11:09Speaker 1: stuff is everywhere. So um, but the simple cooking. Give
- 2:11:15Speaker 1: me a couple more examples of when you say simple cooking,
- 2:11:18Speaker 1: because you make you make lating dishes. I don't think
- 2:11:20Speaker 1: that's that simple, just like a lot of root vegetables simple.
- 2:11:24Speaker 1: I mean those little bacon rolls that we that we
- 2:11:27Speaker 1: cook is like it's like bacon and onion inside of
- 2:11:30Speaker 1: a you know a little bit of bread. You did
- 2:11:32Speaker 1: a big hunter stew at the hunt, right, Yeah, we
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: did a big hunter stew. Um might have had a
- 2:11:39Speaker 1: lot of ingredients because it had like some sausage and
- 2:11:41Speaker 1: some meat and onions, potatoes, and then they actually garnished
- 2:11:46Speaker 1: it with olives and sour cream, which was it kind
- 2:11:49Speaker 1: of sounds like him, but when you do it, it
- 2:11:50Speaker 1: was good. Um. But again, when I say simple, there's
- 2:11:55Speaker 1: there's no spice. You're not gonna ever eat anything there
- 2:11:57Speaker 1: you go, there's none of that. Yeah, you gotta go
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: a long way to find a hallapanio in that country.
- 2:12:02Speaker 1: Are there like repeated herbs like I don't know, parsley
- 2:12:06Speaker 1: or dill, that par la, a lot of cold weather stuff?
- 2:12:12Speaker 1: Are they like searing steaks on a grill? Yes, but
- 2:12:16Speaker 1: you're not gonna get it medium rare? Yeah, it's still
- 2:12:20Speaker 1: it's gonna be medium at minimum, and it might go
- 2:12:23Speaker 1: a little farther. That's what I made for Thanksgiving. I
- 2:12:26Speaker 1: think I maybe I don't know if I've ever made
- 2:12:27Speaker 1: it for you. I made a blito misto, the Italian
- 2:12:32Speaker 1: mixed boil. Oh, you never made it for me, but
- 2:12:35Speaker 1: I know you've made it in the past. Is so good,
- 2:12:39Speaker 1: so I'll tell you. Um, I made garlic sausages, so
- 2:12:44Speaker 1: fresh garlic sausages. I took a bunch of antalope shoulders
- 2:12:47Speaker 1: and corned it. I had a beef tongue that I
- 2:12:52Speaker 1: had smoked my uh kid's body raises chickens. I had
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: one of his chickens. I realized it probably wasn't enough chicken,
- 2:13:01Speaker 1: so I had I bought a chicken, and I had
- 2:13:05Speaker 1: wild oh, shoulder of a wild hog. You got all
- 2:13:08Speaker 1: this in the one pot, But I did it. We're like,
- 2:13:15Speaker 1: right when I woke up in the morning, I put
- 2:13:16Speaker 1: my shanks game shanks, I put them in my oven
- 2:13:22Speaker 1: degrees right when I woke up in the morning. And
- 2:13:24Speaker 1: then my tongue was already done. Then I put my
- 2:13:29Speaker 1: corn stuff in my slow cooker, and then I've made it.
- 2:13:32Speaker 1: Then I made a super broth. In the end, I
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: had a lot of stuff pre cooked. But in the
- 2:13:37Speaker 1: end everything went into that super broth, but super broth
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: like super foods, not like game stock. No. Yeah, but
- 2:13:45Speaker 1: I mean, like when is it super? Is it like
- 2:13:47Speaker 1: more than three different animals? Super good? Three animals? Then
- 2:13:54Speaker 1: you dump all that you don't and it's got all
- 2:13:56Speaker 1: kinds of carrots, rou tobaga's turn ups, beats, taters, and
- 2:14:02Speaker 1: you just and I bought these two huge platters of
- 2:14:04Speaker 1: my wife hates. They got like little turkeys and stuff
- 2:14:06Speaker 1: on them, and you just dump all that ship on
- 2:14:09Speaker 1: the big platters and then you got toppings, so horseradish,
- 2:14:14Speaker 1: a red saucea a green saucea moostarta like the fruit. Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: So when you dig in, man, when you say you
- 2:14:23Speaker 1: dump it on there, is it like big heap and
- 2:14:25Speaker 1: pile of steaming? Is it like a stew meat pictures
- 2:14:33Speaker 1: of seafood boil, But it's just all this crazy boiled
- 2:14:36Speaker 1: chicken and shoulder and corn meat and sausages and a
- 2:14:42Speaker 1: pig cow's tongue and a big mound it made two
- 2:14:45Speaker 1: matching mounds. Is this something that's like prescribed or is
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: it like, oh, we're gonna throw this, and we're gonna
- 2:14:51Speaker 1: throw that, and we're gonna throw that. Well, if you
- 2:14:52Speaker 1: go and read Bleat O Me still, you'll find all
- 2:14:54Speaker 1: kinds of all kinds of lamol weight versions, and then
- 2:14:58Speaker 1: you'll find heavy duty versions. Yeah. Like, my buddy had
- 2:15:01Speaker 1: a restaurant turned me onto it. She used to offer it.
- 2:15:04Speaker 1: You could, like you a big party could call his
- 2:15:07Speaker 1: restaurant and he would do that. You had to call ahead,
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: and it had to be a certain number, like it
- 2:15:12Speaker 1: had to be like a minimum of twelve on blank night,
- 2:15:16Speaker 1: and he would prepare this for you and he would
- 2:15:18Speaker 1: just line like a like Yanni's wild Hog feed trough.
- 2:15:22Speaker 1: He'd like lay that trial off to be just boiled
- 2:15:25Speaker 1: vegetables and boiled meat one end to the other, with
- 2:15:27Speaker 1: all kinds of dipping sauces. It's way caveman. But it's
- 2:15:31Speaker 1: beautiful that we need to do that next year, Brody,
- 2:15:35Speaker 1: because I think we had a lot of complaints. Even
- 2:15:36Speaker 1: though I feel like I made the best turkey of
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: my life, I wasn't. I didn't agree with the complaints
- 2:15:41Speaker 1: on your turkey. But man, we'll talk about I'll tell
- 2:15:43Speaker 1: you something that happened at my at the Ronella household. Please. Uh,
- 2:15:48Speaker 1: my wife had her folks in talent, so she wasn't
- 2:15:50Speaker 1: too keen on not she she wasn't down on the
- 2:15:52Speaker 1: blietel me still, but she just knew there would be
- 2:15:56Speaker 1: breaking tradition. Be like, she just knew. So the second night,
- 2:16:02Speaker 1: eating leftovers, she said, it really is better than the
- 2:16:05Speaker 1: traditional Thanksgiving meal. She had you back, Yeah, we had
- 2:16:12Speaker 1: a traditionally. No, I don't think she did it like that.
- 2:16:14Speaker 1: I think she actually, I think she came to see
- 2:16:16Speaker 1: that it's a better tradition. And I pointed out there everybody,
- 2:16:18Speaker 1: the Pilgrims don't eat turkeys. They didn't need an antelope.
- 2:16:22Speaker 1: Pam though either was My kids were bitching. I told
- 2:16:26Speaker 1: him this. I said, listen, here's one thing I can
- 2:16:28Speaker 1: tell you about the Pilgrims. They made the best thing
- 2:16:30Speaker 1: they could make. That's what I'm doing. Huh So very
- 2:16:39Speaker 1: Christmas everyone. We got gifts though, Oh yeah, and the
- 2:16:44Speaker 1: spirit of giving. Hayden's been very very generous. Put those
- 2:16:52Speaker 1: in your store in there? Yeah, those are those are
- 2:17:01Speaker 1: moreles from Montana. Uh, I guess kind of obviously cute. Yeah. Um,
- 2:17:07Speaker 1: you know, I was driving with a hunter Spencer over
- 2:17:11Speaker 1: here the other day and when we were talking a
- 2:17:14Speaker 1: little bit about you know, it worked. There are always
- 2:17:18Speaker 1: like difficulties and stuff like that, you know, and and
- 2:17:21Speaker 1: and a lot of times you get like frustrated or whatever.
- 2:17:24Speaker 1: But you know, we're driving through this canyon, and uh
- 2:17:27Speaker 1: I made the comment that, like, you know, I feel
- 2:17:30Speaker 1: like meat eater gave me all this, and so I
- 2:17:32Speaker 1: wanted to, uh bring a little present or there were
- 2:17:35Speaker 1: just a bunch of Morrell's hanging out behind my desk
- 2:17:37Speaker 1: and I needed to get rid of a bunch of
- 2:17:42Speaker 1: you very much. Yeah, maybe like a risotto with him,
- 2:17:46Speaker 1: because it's a pretty small portion of Morrel. I'm gonna
- 2:17:48Speaker 1: make you're you're sticking your nose in there though. Yeah, man,
- 2:17:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna make smells like the planet. I'm gonna make
- 2:17:53Speaker 1: two omlets out of these, one for Danielle and one
- 2:17:56Speaker 1: for myself. There you go, man, bear your nose in
- 2:17:59Speaker 1: there real woody mm hmm. Thank you, Merry Christmas Hayden,
- 2:18:06Speaker 1: thank thank you, thank you. Put a little a little
- 2:18:11Speaker 1: dry thing in there. Oh yeah, I got a huge
- 2:18:14Speaker 1: packet of him off Amazon. Sometimes if you don't do it,
- 2:18:18Speaker 1: it gets kind of Yeah, they'll they'll get like you'll
- 2:18:22Speaker 1: smell him and they'll be like they'll have like a
- 2:18:24Speaker 1: funk too, like I'm not sure I want to Yeah,
- 2:18:27Speaker 1: but if you do that, but they stay good kind
- 2:18:29Speaker 1: of indefinitely, what's good idea? Well, Yanni, thanks for the
- 2:18:33Speaker 1: Laby report man, wonderful. Thanks Phil, were you listening? Of course?
- 2:18:41Speaker 1: How do you say Christmas? Now? And then Phil likes
- 2:18:45Speaker 1: an episode? I think he liked this episode. I forgot
- 2:18:48Speaker 1: to ask he liked the Coronado Expert Top fifty at
- 2:18:51Speaker 1: least yet he liked the Coronado Expert. What else it, Phil? Like?
- 2:18:54Speaker 1: You like that one? Yeah? I liked your last year
- 2:18:57Speaker 1: Buffer Zone ELK one. Yeah, that was basically like one
- 2:19:00Speaker 1: seems like one you'd like because you like a guest. Well,
- 2:19:03Speaker 1: just you kind of reflecting on the where do you like? Ephemeral?
- 2:19:08Speaker 1: Seems to slip away as soon as you shoot that out.
- 2:19:11Speaker 1: That was really moving. Those capper kales are those you
- 2:19:16Speaker 1: can't hunt him right now enough population, which brings up
- 2:19:22Speaker 1: another thing, the tag allocations there. They couldn't believe that
- 2:19:27Speaker 1: we would only get like one or maybe two Elk
- 2:19:30Speaker 1: tags to hunt here in our state because they're the
- 2:19:34Speaker 1: club gets say two hundred stag tags and then a
- 2:19:38Speaker 1: hundred moves tags. So the one guy that only hunts
- 2:19:41Speaker 1: one or two driven hunts, he's probably never gonna pull
- 2:19:44Speaker 1: the trig. You're never gonna shoot. But if your guy
- 2:19:45Speaker 1: that gets after it, you can shoot pretty much. Because
- 2:19:49Speaker 1: you shoot one, you call up your local dude, You're like, hey,
- 2:19:52Speaker 1: I got one down, he drives over, puts a tag
- 2:19:54Speaker 1: on it. You're on your married way the next day.
- 2:19:57Speaker 1: We know that is how you do it. Yeah, the
- 2:19:59Speaker 1: next day you're tag guy, meaning the guy with a
- 2:20:01Speaker 1: pocket full of tags. Yeah, exactly. That's like the hunt leader,
- 2:20:04Speaker 1: you know. And then the next day you're back at
- 2:20:06Speaker 1: it hunting again if you want to. Is the hunt
- 2:20:08Speaker 1: leader ever? Like, hey, how about you cooling a little bit?
- 2:20:12Speaker 1: I mean he he had killed a nice like his
- 2:20:15Speaker 1: biggest ever bowl moose earlier in the year before I
- 2:20:18Speaker 1: got there, and he was like, yeah, I'm not shooting
- 2:20:21Speaker 1: any more trophy. And yeah, he's like, I'll shoot cows
- 2:20:25Speaker 1: and and hines. But like, I'm you know, I got
- 2:20:28Speaker 1: someone else needs to shoot the trophy. Don't want to
- 2:20:30Speaker 1: wear his wolcome out. Yeah, he didn't do any lid
- 2:20:33Speaker 1: tossing in the bucket. We did not wrong time of year.
- 2:20:38Speaker 1: What's merry Christmas in in Latvin. Zam a spat. Was
- 2:20:43Speaker 1: she's really mouthful? Zma spat. It's a lot easier to
- 2:20:49Speaker 1: say you sucked up. Yeah, Pats, that sounds like a
- 2:20:58Speaker 1: phenomenal trip. Well, you guys are going I'll bring you
- 2:21:00Speaker 1: another report in July. I'm glad you're going back. Yeah,
- 2:21:04Speaker 1: it should be good. Thank you man. The International Latvian
- 2:21:08Speaker 1: Song and Dance Festival is going on. It's every five
- 2:21:10Speaker 1: years and it's going on this this upcoming it. Yeah,
- 2:21:13Speaker 1: we'll be there for part of it. People say it's
- 2:21:17Speaker 1: weird because like that can't I used to hang out
- 2:21:19Speaker 1: with in Michigan called Gods, where there's you know, two
- 2:21:22Speaker 1: thousand Latvian some weekends all hanging out. When you go
- 2:21:25Speaker 1: to the International Song and Dance Festival and you're in
- 2:21:27Speaker 1: regal Atvia, you might as well be at this camp
- 2:21:30Speaker 1: in Michigan because you're like, hey, it's Steve Man. It's broady,
- 2:21:33Speaker 1: like you know everybody that's just walking down the streets
- 2:21:36Speaker 1: of because everybody goes to it. I've never been. Yeah,
- 2:21:40Speaker 1: you participate, you know. I decided not to because I
- 2:21:44Speaker 1: think you just take too much time, Like there's a
- 2:21:46Speaker 1: lot of practice involved, Like you got to be there
- 2:21:48Speaker 1: for days ahead of times you want to. If you
- 2:21:50Speaker 1: want to participate in the thirty thousand person Choir, which
- 2:21:58Speaker 1: check it out on YouTube. There's plenty of videos of it.
- 2:22:01Speaker 1: But I gotta, I gotta tribute question for you. Okay,
- 2:22:05Speaker 1: what was the loudest sound ever heard by man? My
- 2:22:11Speaker 1: brother walking behind me? Deer hunting good one, Heyden good one.
- 2:22:17Speaker 1: Loudest sound ever heard by man? They think it was
- 2:22:21Speaker 1: the eruption of crack. A loudest sound ever heard by man?
- 2:22:29Speaker 1: Is that when my ears are ringing? Right now? Turn
- 2:22:30Speaker 1: it off, Phil, Let's end on that A dreaming love.
- 2:22:40Speaker 1: Some duk Limen like in the spots used to know
- 2:22:55Speaker 1: wear blue whistle through spreads like missiles and masers came
- 2:23:09Speaker 1: in with the snow m
