- 0:28This is the Predators official podcast here on ESPN 102.5 and
- 0:33106.3 The game. We are finally in February.
- 0:39The Predators are on the road for their dad's trip this
- 0:41weekend. We are back home in Smashville.
- 0:43My name is Max hers from Preds radio along with Kara Hammer
- 0:47from Predators TV. Hammer Hello.
- 0:50It has been 3 losses for the Preds since our last episode,
- 0:54but some good time with the Preds dads and some big news out
- 0:57of Smashville to talk about this week.
- 1:00Yeah, I'm surprised he didn't announce it as the first day of
- 1:02Phil Brewery because that's officially what it's known as in
- 1:06Smashville Max. But after winning five in a row,
- 1:08it's kind of been a little frustrating for the guys to lose
- 1:12three straight and all of them just feel like hasn't been a
- 1:15complete 60 minute game. I think when we break it down,
- 1:18that's what we'll find out has has kind of been the outcome
- 1:21these last three games. But you talk about the big news
- 1:24out of Smashville and anything related to Pat Summit Max, that
- 1:29just warms my heart and I'm here for it.
- 1:31We will be talking about the Tennessee Summit, the new
- 1:35Nashville WNBA bid coming out of Bridgestone Arena.
- 1:39That'll be in the second segment in about 10 minutes or so.
- 1:42We'll hear from Predators team president Michelle Kennedy and a
- 1:45whole lot to bring you up to speed on including potentially
- 1:47some new info about the bid. A lot of inside info coming your
- 1:51way about, we hope Nashville and Tennessee's new WNBA team, which
- 1:57would begin play in 2028. Let's lead off talking some
- 2:00hockey, Cara. It's been 3 losses for the Preds
- 2:03this week. Last Saturday the Preds lost 5,
- 2:06two in Anaheim against the Ducks.
- 2:08Then Wednesday night three. One loss at home against the
- 2:11Canucks and Friday night in Buffalo a four, three loss to
- 2:15the Sabres. All three losses in regulation.
- 2:18All three left something to be desired for the Preds, who as
- 2:21you said, had been hot. 1 Five in a row now lost three in a
- 2:25row. Yeah, I think, you know, you
- 2:29look at that Anaheim game and it kind of felt like the issues
- 2:32that the PEDs were able to succumb in their wins against
- 2:37San Jose. It that is just not what carried
- 2:39over in that Anaheim game against the the docks.
- 2:42I feel like they came out. And one thing I've noticed Max
- 2:46in in these three starts is they just haven't been great starts
- 2:49the game like they're just not coming out strong.
- 2:52I feel like they're falling behind and it's it's tough to
- 2:55get back in the win column. And that's how you're playing,
- 2:56yeah. The Preds did not lead at many
- 2:59points early on in these hockey games against the Ducks, Canucks
- 3:03and Sabers. This week came back home to for
- 3:06one game on Wednesday night at Bridgestone Arena against the
- 3:09Canucks. We thought this was going to be
- 3:11Kevin Lankinen's big return, but Rick Talkett started Thatcher
- 3:15Demko. I'm still kind of mad about it
- 3:17to be honest with you, but Demko played well So what do I know.
- 3:20Predators went down 1, nothing, tied it up 11 after one on a
- 3:24Tommy Novak goal, but went down early in the 2nd and despite a
- 3:28lot of chances in the third, we're not able to tie that game
- 3:31against the Canucks. I that third period was was
- 3:35great hockey for the team. I think they just couldn't get
- 3:37anything to go past Demco. I mean, they hit a few posts in
- 3:40that third period and it just felt like this is a moment where
- 3:44they needed a little bit of puck luck.
- 3:45They just needed the hockey gods on their side in this third
- 3:48period and Max, they just, they didn't seem to have it.
- 3:52What else is new this season, Right?
- 3:55And that way. All you, this is just how it's
- 3:58gone. I mean, even this was a night we
- 4:00put Chris Mason between the benches.
- 4:02We love the three man booth Mace between the benches.
- 4:05I think I believe it was Gus Nyquist comes.
- 4:08He, you know, he, he, he took a puck, got hurt, came to the
- 4:12bench, smacked the side of the bench, knocked down Mace's
- 4:15monitor. He's broadcasting without a
- 4:17monitor in front of him. It was just one of those nights.
- 4:19Things like that just happened in professional sports and live
- 4:22television. So the Preds lost that game in
- 4:25Vancouver three, one with an empty netter being the final
- 4:27marker and that one in the closing 20 seconds.
- 4:30Then they hit the road to go to Buffalo on Friday night where
- 4:34they went back and forth with the Sabres.
- 4:36Preds and Sabres came in tied in the NHL standings for 4th and
- 4:403rd to last in the NHL. Preds played well enough to win
- 4:44this game to be sure. Had a 3-2 lead in the second
- 4:47period. End up giving up a game-winning
- 4:49goal by Yuri Kulik who had two goals for the Sabres. 20 year
- 4:53old check rookie facing the Preds for the first time.
- 4:56He had the game winner with two minutes left.
- 4:58Preds lost 4 three against the Sabres on Friday night despite 2
- 5:03points from Brady Shay and a goal from Luke Evangelista and
- 5:06his return to the lineup from injury.
- 5:09But Kara, the fun stuff this week despite the not so fun
- 5:12results has been the Preds dads trip.
- 5:15Many of the dads were in the house for the home game on
- 5:17Wednesday and then the dads trip to Buffalo for a nice dinner on
- 5:20Thursday night, a trip to Niagara Falls for the dads
- 5:24during the day on Friday and then on to Pittsburgh Saturday
- 5:27for the back end of the dads trip.
- 5:29And you got to meet some of the Preds Papas.
- 5:31Oh my gosh, it's always so great when the dads are in town.
- 5:35It's one of my my favorite weeks when they all come to Nashville
- 5:39first before they head out on the road trip.
- 5:41But I had a chance to actually catch up with Nick Blinkenberg,
- 5:44Dad, Carl Blinkenberg, and he was sitting in the stands next
- 5:50to Zach Larue's dad, who was on his first dad trips.
- 5:54And when I came down to, to, to, to meet the fathers, I think the
- 5:58whole first period of that game, Max, Zach Larue's dad, was
- 6:01turned around having a conversation with UC Sorrow's
- 6:04dad, Pekka. So I I was wondering, and not
- 6:07Peckerine, if you don't know this, UC Sorrow's dad's name is
- 6:11Pekka. They were having a whole
- 6:13conversation. You could tell the guys were
- 6:14already getting into it before they headed out on the trip.
- 6:17But it was really great to catch up with Carl, especially in
- 6:21game, watching it live. I'm in the stands currently with
- 6:24his dad, Carl, who is here in attendance.
- 6:27And you're getting set for your first dad's trip.
- 6:29What's the excitement surrounding that?
- 6:32Oh well, that's great. We get to see a few hockey games
- 6:35and then get to hang out with my son and the team and kind of get
- 6:40the behind the scenes view of what goes on on a road trip.
- 6:45Nick's had an incredible start to this season.
- 6:47It's storybook 2 game-winning goals.
- 6:50I mean, what has it been like for you watching him succeed?
- 6:53Very exciting. We just love watching it, Nick
- 6:56play hockey and yeah, we're just so happy for him.
- 6:59All right, well, enjoy. Enjoy the dad's trip.
- 7:01Yeah. Thank you, Max.
- 7:02The apple doesn't fall far from the tree on this one.
- 7:05Yeah, we, we were talking with Hal during the game last night
- 7:09on the radio. We got some dead ringers in this
- 7:12Preds dad's group this year. The Blankenberg's definitely one
- 7:15of them. Same smile, same everything.
- 7:18Yeah, just so, you know, just like very mellow, very low key,
- 7:21very sweet and humble. And that's exactly how Crawl
- 7:25was. And that, you know, on the other
- 7:27side, I'm going to have to say the same thing about Zach
- 7:29Larousse. Dad just a little bit more
- 7:30outgoing, the life of the party. And that's clearly evident when
- 7:34some of the videos we've seen being posted online of Zach
- 7:37Laroux's dad this week. Yeah, and how about Steven's,
- 7:40Stamkos's dad, who we saw on TV last night with Lindsay Rowley?
- 7:44Chris Stamkos, He looks like Steven Stamkos with the Snapchat
- 7:48filter that makes you look a little bit older on like exactly
- 7:52the same. It's so great.
- 7:54And if you missed it, if you haven't had a chance to see it,
- 7:57you need to go to the Pred social media account and check
- 8:00out the the photo that Luke Evangelista's dad took.
- 8:03It was the selfie with all the dads in the background.
- 8:05I mean, what a great time. And you know, Skillsy was
- 8:08talking about this on the broadcast that when the dads get
- 8:11to come on the dad trips, they're like this, this is the
- 8:14light. This is how you guys are eating.
- 8:16You get you get free meals like this all the time.
- 8:18So it's pretty exciting for them to to kind of live vicariously
- 8:22through their sons who they've supported through the entire
- 8:24journey in the NHL. Some other cool Preds dad
- 8:27stories of this week, Adam Willsby's dad, Johann Willsby.
- 8:32The first time Adam has had any of his family in the house to
- 8:35see him play in the NHL after he debuted earlier this season with
- 8:38his dad coming over from Sweden. Great to see a lot of new Preds
- 8:42dads this year and a lot of repeat dads as well.
- 8:45Colton Sisson's very hilariously told Brooks Bratton in an
- 8:49interview. Let's stop pumping my dad's
- 8:51tires. He's not the most famous dad,
- 8:53he's not the rock star dad. He's just Dougie Sissons.
- 8:57Yeah, he's Dougie. He's the dad.
- 9:01Apparently we pumped his tires too much in Pred's media, but
- 9:05I'll blame Brooks and you for that one.
- 9:08I just, I just feel like he's, I think The thing is, is you know,
- 9:13with Colin Sistens being from Vancouver, it's always a great
- 9:15storyline. Anytime he goes home.
- 9:17Doug Sistens is always at the game, so we'd love to get him on
- 9:20the broadcast there. They go on the dad trip.
- 9:22He's just, he's such a nice guy. He's always open to doing it.
- 9:26So I think that's why Dougie's got a little bit more screen
- 9:29time. Some other cool dad milestones.
- 9:31As I said, the Willsby's watching each other for the
- 9:34first time. How about this, Kara?
- 9:36Roman Yossi's dad Peter, a father's trip regular, will be
- 9:39in the house Saturday night in Pittsburgh when Roman ties David
- 9:43Legwand for the Predators franchise record for most games
- 9:47played as a Pred, his 956th regular season game.
- 9:52His dad will be in attendance as he takes that final step towards
- 9:56being the first player to ever play 1000 games for the Preds,
- 10:00which he can reach as soon as next season.
- 10:02Wow, that's cool. What like what a moment, right?
- 10:06To be there in person and and to be able to witness this and
- 10:09hopefully the guys can get a little bit more juiced up to
- 10:11knowing Yossi has this coming and having their dads in the
- 10:14building. Yeah, that'll be Saturday night
- 10:17in Pittsburgh against the Penguins.
- 10:18We released this podcast. Preds will be back home Monday
- 10:21night at 6:30. Early start for Canadian
- 10:24National TV. The only game in the NHL Monday
- 10:27night. The Senators and Predators
- 10:29coming your way in Nashville on Monday night for the final week
- 10:33before the Four Nations face off.
- 10:34Preds will host the Sends on Monday.
- 10:37Then Friday night they will be in Chicago facing the
- 10:39Blackhawks. Then Saturday night, February
- 10:428th, next Saturday, the final game before the Four Nations
- 10:45International Tournament as the Preds host the Sabres who they
- 10:48just played in Buffalo. Time to take a break.
- 10:51We'll come back tell you about the exciting announcement of
- 10:53AWNBA bid to Smashville this week, introduce you to the
- 10:58Tennessee Summit who we hope will begin play at Bridgestone
- 11:02Arena in the summer of 2028. She's Cara Hammer from Preds TV.
- 11:07I'm Max hers from Preds radio. You were listening to the
- 11:09Predators official podcast. Welcome back to the Predators
- 11:29official podcast here on ESPN. One O 2 five and one O 6 three
- 11:34The game, your exclusive radio home for Nashville Predators
- 11:37hockey. My name is Max, hers from
- 11:39Predators Radio, joined as always by Cara Hammer from
- 11:43Predators TV. We had some big non hockey news
- 11:47come out in Smashville this week, Kara, that the Preds are a
- 11:50part of. It was announced on Thursday
- 11:53that Predators chairman and majority owner Bill Haslam,
- 11:57along with his wife Chrissy, and a star-studded group of big name
- 12:02Tennesseans are putting in a bid for a WNBA expansion franchise
- 12:08that would play at Bridgestone Arena beginning in 2028.
- 12:12The bid was submitted to the WNBA and Commissioner Kathy
- 12:15Engelbert this week and the team already has a name very aptly
- 12:20named the Tennessee Summit in honor of long time Lady Vols
- 12:25coach, the greatest coach in basketball history, Pat Summit.
- 12:29Oh my gosh, this is so cool. Being a girl growing up and and
- 12:34playing basketball. I mean, that was Pat Summit that
- 12:38that's synonymous with women's basketball.
- 12:41And I think that this is a great opportunity for people in
- 12:47Nashville. I think it's the perfect time.
- 12:49I think what Caitlin Clark, it has been able to do with the
- 12:54WNBA right now and help grow the game even more.
- 12:57Like everybody is talking about women's basketball right now,
- 13:01and that's kind of what Smashville is, right?
- 13:04We're a growing city. It's a place for opportunity.
- 13:07So how cool would it be Max, to have this team and expand and be
- 13:12here in Smashville? The ownership group headlined by
- 13:15Bill and Chrissy Haslam, WNBA and Lady Vol for life, Candace
- 13:19Parker. Another Vol for life, Peyton
- 13:22Manning and then the singer of the goal song, Tim McGraw and
- 13:26Faith Hill, the headliners. And they're apparently more big
- 13:29name owners coming soon as part of this bid.
- 13:32I don't know how they're going to turn this bid down, Kara.
- 13:35They've already got everything. They got the arena, they got the
- 13:37city, they got the name, they got the ownership.
- 13:40I I don't know how this bid can lose.
- 13:43Yeah, I, I don't know, Max. I'm really hoping for it, but do
- 13:47we have any more information on what like the fans need to do?
- 13:51Like how can how can we all get involved to make sure that this
- 13:54is a lock? Great question.
- 13:56And I asked that to Predators team President Michelle Kennedy,
- 13:59who represented the ownership group in a press conference
- 14:02announcing the bid this week. Hi, Michelle.
- 14:05Hi, Max. Congratulations, this has been
- 14:07an awesome day bringing a lot of people together out of nowhere
- 14:10here in Smashville. When and how did this all start
- 14:13with the WNBA, Nashville and the President involvement, and how
- 14:16does it get to today? Yeah, so sometime this summer,
- 14:20Bill Haslam caught wind of the an impending bid process for
- 14:26WNBA team, and he and Chrissy got really excited about it.
- 14:31So one of the first calls that that Bill made was to the mayor
- 14:35of Nashville called Mayor O'Connell.
- 14:37And Freddie was also really excited about it.
- 14:40And, and off we went. We began educating ourselves
- 14:44about what the league looks like, what are the economics?
- 14:48You know, we have a lot of expertise in professional
- 14:51sports, obviously, but every league is different.
- 14:53And so we've spent a number of months educating ourselves and
- 14:57putting together a bid that we think is going to be hard to
- 14:59beat. This is an incredible ownership
- 15:02group from all across the state that you guys have assembled
- 15:05here. What was it like watching it
- 15:06come together and getting to meet all these people and work
- 15:09with them? Yeah, it was, it's been really
- 15:10fun. I, I, I give the, the Haslam's
- 15:13so much credit. I think that they have the most
- 15:15magic contact list I've ever been a witness to.
- 15:19And anyone they, they call to ask about interest immediately
- 15:24engages in conversation and, and it's led to some really cool
- 15:27places. We, you know, Candace Parker.
- 15:29What better fit could there be for a woman's professional
- 15:35basketball team in Nashville named after Pat Summit than
- 15:40Candace Parker? She is legendary in her own
- 15:43right and we are so fortunate to have not only her knowledge of
- 15:50Pat and her ability to help guide us in in that way, but
- 15:54just her knowledge of basketball.
- 15:55You know, I mean, as we as we put together a, a team of higher
- 16:01coaching, higher coach, hire a general manager, her insight as
- 16:04a former player and as a very knowledgeable basketball person
- 16:07is going to be absolutely invaluable.
- 16:09And then Peyton Manning, I mean, are there, could you think of
- 16:12two people who are more fitting to be a part of this ownership
- 16:16group than Candace Parker and Peyton Manning?
- 16:19And then Tyler Summit is so excited about this.
- 16:22He's, he is over the moon and thinks, thinks it's an
- 16:26absolutely appropriate tribute to his mom.
- 16:28So, and then, oh, by the way, there's also this little detail
- 16:32of Kevin Faith. And that's, I mean, it's been,
- 16:36it's been incredible. But I think that just shows you
- 16:40#1 the, the unifying effect that this initiative has had on so
- 16:47many people who are hosts, so high profile and can be
- 16:50absolutely incredible ambassadors for this.
- 16:52You played at Vanderbilt. You played against Pat Summits
- 16:54teams. What was it like from that
- 16:57personal side for you? Speaking to her son, securing
- 17:00the team name, securing the colors, securing the support of
- 17:03her foundation for the Tennessee Summit.
- 17:05Yeah, You know, it's been great. Somebody, you know, a couple
- 17:07people ask me along the way. Well, I mean, you think the
- 17:10people at Vanderbilt are really going to like that his name
- 17:12Tennessee something there is so much respect and so much
- 17:15reverence for what she did in my years.
- 17:17And I think if you were to ask all my teammates and a lot of
- 17:20the folks who have who have played at Vanderbilt since we
- 17:22were one in seven against Tennessee in my four years.
- 17:25And so there is a tremendous respect.
- 17:27And I think it's just irrefutable that she, it was the
- 17:31the OG, you know, she was the first one who made women's
- 17:34basketball, who put it on the map.
- 17:35It was her teams who were selling out arenas.
- 17:38And, and don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it that Shay
- 17:41Ralph and The Commodores beat them last weekend.
- 17:44But I think that there could There's nothing more appropriate
- 17:47than the way that Bill and Chrissy have decided to engineer
- 17:50this team after after Pat's legacy.
- 17:53So you go to the WNBA with the expansion bid.
- 17:55You guys have the name, you have the history, you have the city,
- 17:59you have the arena, You have a lot of recent new buzz generated
- 18:02this week. You guys have to feel pretty
- 18:04good about this, right? Yeah.
- 18:05I mean, I think one of the things that we've talked a lot
- 18:07about in this working group that we've had for the last few
- 18:09months is the word readiness. I mean, we're ready.
- 18:12The, the city is ready, this facility is ready, this
- 18:15ownership group is ready. There's just nothing about this
- 18:19that we don't think is the perfect fit.
- 18:22So I, I, I look at the group that we have today, which is
- 18:26absolutely * studded and unbelievable.
- 18:29And I tell you that you're going to hear some more names in the
- 18:31days ahead, I believe. And how do you say no to that
- 18:35group? That's how I see it.
- 18:37And how do you say no to what we've built here in Bridgestone
- 18:41Arena and the community centered approach that the Preds have
- 18:45taken, which is which is the same vision that Chrissy and
- 18:47Bill have for for this team? For all our fans who are
- 18:49listening, is there a way fans can be involved in this, can
- 18:53help push Nashville to get the bid?
- 18:55And what are you hoping to see from fans?
- 18:56Both as we go through the bid process the next few months and
- 19:00hopefully once the bid is secured for Nashville over the
- 19:02three years between then and when the team starts playing.
- 19:05So I think the important thing for, for everyone to understand
- 19:08right now, this is the beginning.
- 19:10So we, the bid will be submitted today.
- 19:13I haven't seen my e-mail in a few minutes, so I don't know if
- 19:15it's been submitted yet, but it'll be submitted today.
- 19:18And there will be a whole host of things that we will ask
- 19:22people to do to engage and support the the first thing that
- 19:25you can do we've, we've established Twitter and
- 19:29Instagram and Facebook handles. Follow those like what we post.
- 19:33That's the beginning of it. And there'll be many, many more
- 19:36opportunities to express support for this.
- 19:39It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm excited.
- 19:40I hope you guys are enjoying it as much as the fan base is
- 19:43finding out about it. Thanks so much, Michelle.
- 19:44Absolutely. Thank you, Max.
- 19:46That is Madam President Michelle Kennedy, Predators team
- 19:49President and Chief Operating Officer, who speaks on behalf of
- 19:53the WNBA bid to Nashville, which would bring the team in 2028.
- 19:57And Karen, to answer your question, you heard it at the
- 19:59end. As of now, they need to build a
- 20:02social media following. So go follow the Tennessee
- 20:04Summit on all social media. They'll be tweeting, They'll be
- 20:07tweeting out this podcast as well.
- 20:09Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, wherever they're at, go find
- 20:13them the Tennessee Summit. I think this bid is too good to
- 20:17lose. And the WNBA says they're
- 20:19looking for one team and either 2027 or 2028.
- 20:22I think they're going to get enough good bids to bring in a
- 20:24few. And if that happens, I don't see
- 20:27how Nashville isn't one of them. Yeah, it would be hard.
- 20:31Do we? You know, I'm not as familiar
- 20:33what may be some of the other host cities that have put in a
- 20:36bid. But how do you turn down
- 20:38Nashville? This is where everybody wants to
- 20:40come. This is the spot to be.
- 20:42Yeah, I think it would be a lot of fun and other things that
- 20:46were outlined in different media sessions this week as well.
- 20:49The bid is fully private. There would be no public money
- 20:51from the city nor the state government going into the bid.
- 20:54The team would build a practice facility that would also be a
- 20:57basketball bastion in the community.
- 20:59Unity, in addition to playing their games at Bridgestone Arena
- 21:03beginning in 2028. I think there is a hope, this is
- 21:07not confirmed, but a hope that they could play some games in
- 21:09Knoxville as well. Of course, the Tennessee Summit
- 21:12could play games in Knoxville and other games in part of
- 21:15Tennessee, but they'll worry about that when they get there.
- 21:18There's so many cool things about this that we heard this
- 21:20week. Another one, we said that Peyton
- 21:22Manning is part of the ownership group.
- 21:24Manning's Omaha Productions video company would be creating
- 21:29Inside Access content for the team on a regular basis.
- 21:34I mean, I could go on and on, Michelle said.
- 21:35A lot of it. Some things I didn't want to
- 21:38have her repeat because we've already heard so many times.
- 21:41This just feels right. Yeah, wow.
- 21:45It it and like the support that they have and the people backing
- 21:49it, it it just feels too good to be true.
- 21:51Like I don't see a way that this doesn't doesn't happen.
- 21:55So I hope in 2028, Max, you and I were were in attendance.
- 21:58Yeah, I. Hope we're there.
- 21:59So the expansion process for the WNBA right now, they have 12
- 22:02teams. The 13th team begins this year,
- 22:05that's San Francisco. The next year.
- 22:07Portland and Toronto get going in 2026.
- 22:11The bids were submitted for either 2027 or 2000 and 28.
- 22:16The Tennessee bid is for 2028, the later of those two years
- 22:21because Bridgestone Arena will be undergoing some pretty big
- 22:24renovations that were announced this past summer.
- 22:26They want those to be done by the time the team comes in,
- 22:29which would be 2028. So stay tuned.
- 22:32It will be a month long bid process, Michelle said.
- 22:35Then we will hopefully know at some point this summer whether
- 22:38or not the Tennessee Summit will be coming into existence in the
- 22:41summer of 2028. Well, that was really cool to be
- 22:44a part of. You never know what's going to
- 22:46pop up here in Smashville. And the Predators, of course,
- 22:48have pledged their full support and partnership of Bridgestone
- 22:52Arena to their majority owner, Bill Haslam, the chairman of the
- 22:55Preds ownership group. Preds are very much involved in
- 22:58this one. So we don't know how this one
- 23:00loses, but we'll keep you guys up to speed as the WNBA is
- 23:04hopefully coming to Smashville over the next few years.
- 23:07She's Gary Hammer from Preds TV. I'm Max hers from Preds radio.
- 23:10This is the Predators official podcast.
- 23:28We're done talking about basketball, but I need to play
- 23:32this song because it's my favorite, the OG Curtis Blow
- 23:37well basketball here on the Predators official podcast as
- 23:39Nashville and Tennessee put in their WNBA bid.
- 23:42My name is Max Hers along with Kara Hammer Hammer.
- 23:45It's going to be a busy week here in Smashville as the Preds
- 23:48return to home ice for a game on Monday against the Ottawa
- 23:52Senators. Then we'll also be home on
- 23:54Saturday night for the final game before the Four Nations
- 23:57face off against the Sabres. We got a two week international
- 24:00break in the middle of February for that tournament in Montreal
- 24:03and Boston, which UC Soros, Phillip Forsberg and Gus Nyquist
- 24:08will all be playing in presently, have eight games this
- 24:11month, but six of them are at home.
- 24:16And I, and I didn't, I know you, you noticed this too, because
- 24:19you brought it to my attention. But Gus was wearing his Swedish
- 24:24Pats at practice the other day. Do you think that, do you think
- 24:28guys just get that to start breaking them in?
- 24:30Yeah. Like getting ready for this.
- 24:32They're breaking in the gear. I was talking to Philip Forsberg
- 24:35about his Sweden stuff and I assumed that the pants were just
- 24:39pants shells and that they'd go over the main pants that the
- 24:43guys already there where they could take the Pred shell off
- 24:46and put the Sweden shell on. That is not the case.
- 24:49They are one piece hockey pants, so that's going to take some
- 24:52breaking in, Philip Forsberg said.
- 24:54But both the skaters have pants and gloves to break in and UC
- 24:57Soros rocked his full setup, his full pillows, his catching
- 25:02glove, his blocker, his stick and a new goalie mask for Team
- 25:06Finland we saw at practice this week.
- 25:08So it's really cool to see that stuff.
- 25:10He he went with kind of a glitter silver look on the
- 25:13Finland goalie mask and he has the Helsinki skyline on there,
- 25:17the lion and lots of themes from the finished flag.
- 25:20So it's a really good look and I think it'll go well with the
- 25:23Finland look. They are in white sweaters for
- 25:26the tournament. Everybody's only got one color
- 25:28and they're the white team. So he kind of went with a white
- 25:31base with a little bit of blue. I I hope that they put some of
- 25:35this gear out for sale afterwards.
- 25:38I I'm sure the guys all want to keep it but this would be sweet
- 25:41memorabilia and I feel like I'm definitely getting some swag at
- 25:44some point it this month. Yeah, the NH LS made it
- 25:48available, so go check it out. We got a lot going on in
- 25:51Nashville this week. Monday night, Preds and Senators
- 25:53at 6:30. Tuesday night, Nash Vegas, the
- 25:57annual casino night with the Predators.
- 25:58Nash Vegas, presented by King Jewelers.

- 26:05There's still a handful of spots available, so go to
- 26:08nashvillepredators.com/nashvegas. That's GNASHVEGAS.

- 26:22We will be there. There will be tons of giveaways
- 26:26you get just for signing up and your fee to get in is a donation
- 26:30to the Preds Foundation. It's all going to the Preds
- 26:32Foundation. So it's a great 'cause plus you
- 26:34get a free great dinner and an open bar all night long.
- 26:38Club will be going up on a Tuesday.
- 26:40Cara Hammer at the casino at Nash Vegas.
- 26:43I'll be there. I will be there, Max.
- 26:45This is my jam. This is one of my favorite
- 26:47events that the Preds Foundation puts on.
- 26:49It's so much fun. And you know, if you're not
- 26:52following Sean Henry on Twitter, the president, please do so
- 26:56because I noticed the other day he put out a tweet for free
- 26:59tickets to the game and he wanted somebody to post a smash
- 27:03Bill memory. And the fan actually posted a
- 27:06photo of them gambling last year at Nash Vegas with Sean Henry.
- 27:10And hey, they ended up being so you never know.
- 27:14Keep. Waiting all season long.
- 27:15Yeah, your donation to the Pretz Foundation could be a pay it
- 27:18forward down payment on free tickets down the road.
- 27:22You never know. You never know what happens here
- 27:25on the POP. So that's Tuesday night.
- 27:27Then Wednesday night we've got a Smashville Live radio show. 6 O
- 27:30clock Wednesday night at Brew House 100 in Bellevue.
- 27:34Hammer. We're putting together a decor.
- 27:36I'll have 3 defenseman with me. How GAIL Co hosting.
- 27:40Plus, new Preds Nick Blankenberg and Justin Baron will make their
- 27:43Smashville Live debuts on Wednesday night.
- 27:47Perfect, you finally found some guys who have more goals than
- 27:49how GAIL. Yeah, it wasn't hard.
- 27:54I love it. That sounds like a great night.
- 27:56So that's we can ask Nick about having his dad on the dad's
- 27:59trip. Yeah, and Justin Barron's dad,
- 28:01Gerard, part of the dad's trip as well.
- 28:03So yeah, maybe some of the dads will still be around and they
- 28:06can't get him to leave having too.
- 28:09Much fun, you never know. So that's Wednesday night six to
- 28:12seven at Brewhouse 100 in Bellevue near Ensworth for
- 28:16Smashville Live. And then Friday night the
- 28:19Predators will be in Chicago facing the Blackhawks.
- 28:22Those of you back here in Smashville, there is a Bud Light
- 28:25official watch party at Brooklyn Bowl and Cara Hammers Hood of
- 28:28Germantown with Wayne D Friday night February 7th as the Preds
- 28:32take on the Blackhawks at 7:30. Show up anytime for dinner,
- 28:37drinks, Preds goodies. Be a lot of fun as the Preds
- 28:40visit the Blackhawks next Friday.
- 28:43That's when I'll be in Milwaukee.
- 28:45So if you're in the Wisconsin area, come out to the Admirals
- 28:48game. I'll be there.
- 28:50And if not, make your way over to my neighborhood in Nashville,
- 28:53Germantown. Ads have been having some fun
- 28:55recently. My boy Kyle Marino's been
- 28:57chucking the knucks around so I hope he does it on the day
- 29:00you're there. Luke Shen.
- 29:01'S brother. I'm here for it.
