- 0:15Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome everybody to episode ninety one of Cards
- 0:19Speaker 1: and Categories. I'm Mike Coolard from Rasball, joined as always
- 0:23Speaker 1: by my very good friend Jeremy Brewer, also from Rasball.
- 0:27Speaker 2: How are you doing tonight, buddy, I'm doing just fine.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Great weather, great baseball, great topics tonight. So I am excited.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I am ready to go.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely.
- 0:37Speaker 2: So.
- 0:37Speaker 1: We are speaking here on May fourteenth, and it's a
- 0:41Speaker 1: week later than we usually do, but we had to
- 0:43Speaker 1: do Bowman last week for episode ninety so if you're
- 0:46Speaker 1: into collecting cards, check out that Bowman overview from last week.
- 0:50Speaker 1: This week we are doing April Player of the Month PC,
- 0:53Speaker 1: so if you were around with us last summer, you
- 0:56Speaker 1: will know that this is our monthly tradition where we
- 0:59Speaker 1: go through and examine the players of the month from
- 1:02Speaker 1: the previous month and then pick some PC cards. So
- 1:06Speaker 1: it's a little fun for us. We get to discuss
- 1:08Speaker 1: all sorts of cards from cool rookies to put together
- 1:11Speaker 1: or some bombastic heavy hitters. But before we get into that,
- 1:16Speaker 1: we're gonna do some news and notes, and we start
- 1:19Speaker 1: off with a very very sad moment as we have
- 1:23Speaker 1: to pour one out for our boy C. A. James
- 1:27Speaker 1: carry over on the blurb stump because his man, Bud
- 1:31Speaker 1: Black in Colorado was finally fired this week after one
- 1:34Speaker 1: of the most bananas runs. I think I've ever seen
- 1:38Speaker 1: a manager survive with the ride that Bud Black has
- 1:42Speaker 1: gone through in Colorado. I don't know. This is putting
- 1:46Speaker 1: lipstick on a pig at this point for the Colorado Rockies,
- 1:49Speaker 1: but they had to pull the plug. Eventually he was
- 1:51Speaker 1: fired along with the bench coach. They made the third
- 1:54Speaker 1: base coach the manager for the rest of the season.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Do you have any parting words for Bud Black and
- 2:00Speaker 1: any insights on what this might mean for any Rockies
- 2:02Speaker 1: players out there the rest of the season.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean parting word for Bud Black. Seems like
- 2:07Speaker 2: one of the best guys out there in the game.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Also always, I don't know how to assess Bud Black's
- 2:14Speaker 2: managerial career. So he was a manager of the Year
- 2:17Speaker 2: in twenty ten, I believe it was, and a manager
- 2:21Speaker 2: of the year. How many winning seasons has he had
- 2:24Speaker 2: since he won that award? Do you know? Just take
- 2:26Speaker 2: a guess three, I'll guess one. He has had one
- 2:32Speaker 2: winning season, including the pandemic shortened season since there. He
- 2:36Speaker 2: has a career total of three winning seasons over the
- 2:41Speaker 2: last eight eighteen years. And I get you have the
- 2:45Speaker 2: Potters when they're bad, you have the Rockies when they're bad.
- 2:47Speaker 2: But like, hey, you know, it was cause and effect here.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I'm not sure, but hey, like I said, Bud Black
- 2:55Speaker 2: one of the great guys in the game, I'm not
- 2:57Speaker 2: going to opine on his managerial skills, even though I
- 3:00Speaker 2: kind of just did. But for the Rockies going forward,
- 3:04Speaker 2: I don't know that it changed as much. Maybe this
- 3:07Speaker 2: finally is what breaks the Rockies from not knowing when
- 3:10Speaker 2: to promote prospects and give guys playing time. Maybe, like blood,
- 3:13Speaker 2: Black's always been a guy that likes the veterans and
- 3:15Speaker 2: things like that, so that's maybe, you know, Jordan Beck
- 3:18Speaker 2: has an up arrow something like that. Guys that like
- 3:20Speaker 2: you just want to see the run time. But otherwise,
- 3:23Speaker 2: I don't think there's anything too notable here. The Rockies
- 3:26Speaker 2: are still pretty gush darn dreadful. They're the White Sox
- 3:29Speaker 2: of the NL, and maybe the White Sox are the
- 3:33Speaker 2: you know, the Rockies of the ALE. I don't know
- 3:36Speaker 2: either way. You don't want to be those two teams,
- 3:39Speaker 2: but it's probably still a long long ride for the
- 3:43Speaker 2: Rockies the rest of the year.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think the White Sox and Rockies
- 3:48Speaker 1: are kindred spirits because of those black pinstripes. We've got
- 3:50Speaker 1: to get an investigation going into those pinstripe uniforms because
- 3:54Speaker 1: I think that's that's the culprit here obviously. But yeah,
- 3:58Speaker 1: this is gonna be fascinating see the Rockies without Bud
- 4:01Speaker 1: Black because he's just been such a figurehead that it
- 4:05Speaker 1: is just confounding, because I mean, do you think I
- 4:09Speaker 1: think the Rockies are gonna outpace the White Sox this year?
- 4:13Speaker 1: That Like I've been watching a lot of Rockies games
- 4:16Speaker 1: because like they're on during the day, and honestly, it's
- 4:19Speaker 1: kind of been entertaining baseball to watch because they make
- 4:22Speaker 1: a lot of errors. They are not good in the field,
- 4:25Speaker 1: they're not good at the plate, they're not good pitching.
- 4:27Speaker 1: It's a miserable baseball team. I personally think that they're
- 4:31Speaker 1: gonna keep their current pace, if not tail off, because
- 4:35Speaker 1: like they're gonna be playing more and more games than
- 4:37Speaker 1: that really competitive NL West. You could just see it
- 4:40Speaker 1: when they've played the Tigers this past week. They don't
- 4:43Speaker 1: even belong on the field with like an elite ball
- 4:46Speaker 1: club that they're just running circles around them. I could
- 4:50Speaker 1: totally see the Rockies just getting absolutely annihilated all summer
- 4:54Speaker 1: by the nl West, which would put them in a
- 4:57Speaker 1: Cleveland Spiders esque conversation and make us the worst kind
- 5:02Speaker 1: of modern baseball team. Ever, what do you think?
- 5:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that they definitely have a a shot.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Has been that team. I expect they're gonna get a
- 5:12Speaker 2: little shot of adrenaline here over the next few weeks.
- 5:15Speaker 2: They got to, you know, chip on the shoulder, something
- 5:16Speaker 2: to prove. But at the end of the day, like there,
- 5:19Speaker 2: there's just not enough talent there. There's there's no pitching
- 5:22Speaker 2: to your point, there's no field. They're they're even the
- 5:25Speaker 2: upstart guys or guys that would be like fourth outfielders
- 5:27Speaker 2: or something like that on a on a middling team.
- 5:29Speaker 2: So I think there's a long long road to till here.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And honestly, they don't have much come up through the
- 5:37Speaker 2: system either. It's not like their whole it's the Rockies
- 5:39Speaker 2: of old who just couldn't wouldn't promote the guys when
- 5:42Speaker 2: they had them. Now there's not even guys to promote
- 5:43Speaker 2: at this point. They I don't think this is a
- 5:46Speaker 2: black issue. I think this is a up and down
- 5:49Speaker 2: the system issue. They need a massive reset all the
- 5:51Speaker 2: way up to the top. And yeah, if they if
- 5:54Speaker 2: they win, I'll just say, forty games this year. I
- 5:58Speaker 2: think that might be the happy, happy path for them.
- 6:02Speaker 2: But that might be given a little too generous.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yikes. I mean that's yeah, that's all time lost record
- 6:08Speaker 1: right there. Okay, well, let's move on to some more
- 6:11Speaker 1: fun news, because we did have a handful of minor
- 6:14Speaker 1: league call ups where like, honestly, if we've done a
- 6:17Speaker 1: repeat of the episode that we did about a month
- 6:21Speaker 1: and a half ago on Minor League Stashes, great episode
- 6:24Speaker 1: if you want to kind of go back and maybe
- 6:26Speaker 1: learn some of the strategies to what we're looking at players. Honestly,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I think this wave of guys that came up would
- 6:32Speaker 1: have been kind of the next wave of Stashes if
- 6:36Speaker 1: we had done this like at the beginning of May.
- 6:39Speaker 1: And so we've got the first one here, Catcher Dalton
- 6:41Speaker 1: Rushing coming up for the Dodgers. He was absolutely on
- 6:45Speaker 1: fire and triple a batting three zero eight, four twenty
- 6:48Speaker 1: four five to fourteen slash line with five bombs and
- 6:51Speaker 1: thirty one games just a great eye. Has not walked
- 6:56Speaker 1: less than eleven point four percent at minor league stop.
- 7:02Speaker 1: He is a superb hitter, so it made sense for
- 7:05Speaker 1: the Dodgers to bring him up into the lineup. They've
- 7:08Speaker 1: dfa'ed Austin Barnes to make room for Dalton Rushing, So
- 7:11Speaker 1: they've played their hand there to show, Hey, it's the
- 7:14Speaker 1: Dalton Rushing and Will Smith's show in LA for the
- 7:18Speaker 1: rest of the year. I like that because that gives
- 7:22Speaker 1: you more opportunities for Rushing to get at bats. He's
- 7:24Speaker 1: left handed, has played little outfield, little dh What do
- 7:28Speaker 1: you see for Rushing the rest of the year and
- 7:30Speaker 1: what level of league are you looking to pick him
- 7:33Speaker 1: up in.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah, this one's really really tough, honestly, because Rushing's coming
- 7:39Speaker 2: up and if you ignore a position. He's an extremely
- 7:42Speaker 2: exciting prospect. He can absolutely hit for average, he can
- 7:46Speaker 2: hit for power, He's going to a good lineup, he
- 7:48Speaker 2: gets on base, he does all those things. Well, yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 2: he doesn't have a whole lot of speed, but you know,
- 7:52Speaker 2: at the end of the day, he's a really, really
- 7:54Speaker 2: mature hitter. And the only reason he's stole in the
- 7:56Speaker 2: minors because he was just fully blocked. And I think
- 8:00Speaker 2: that he's one of those guys that unfortunately he is
- 8:04Speaker 2: not going to get the playing time that gonna make
- 8:06Speaker 2: it really worth investing if if I have an extra
- 8:09Speaker 2: spot and maybe a fifteen teamer, definitely only I'm playing
- 8:13Speaker 2: the game, I'm investing here, especially dude injury risk for
- 8:17Speaker 2: Will Smith. But he is behind Will Smith at catcher.
- 8:20Speaker 2: He is behind this guy named Otani at DH and
- 8:25Speaker 2: the spots where the Dodgers seem to need help her,
- 8:27Speaker 2: like in the middle infield, and Dalton Rushing's not going
- 8:30Speaker 2: to be playing playing there really whatsoever. I know they've
- 8:35Speaker 2: been trying to kind of give him chances in the
- 8:37Speaker 2: outfield and things like that. I just since he's the
- 8:41Speaker 2: only the second catcher on the on the team, he's
- 8:44Speaker 2: they can't really throw him in the outfield for a
- 8:48Speaker 2: full game because if something happens to him, something happens
- 8:51Speaker 2: to Smith, they're completely out of the catcher. You know,
- 8:54Speaker 2: maybe Kiki hern Andez can catch them. He can do
- 8:56Speaker 2: everything else, right, But I really think there's a great profile.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I'm just really struggling. I think the situation is not
- 9:03Speaker 2: ideal for Rushing here, and this is almost the curse
- 9:07Speaker 2: of the Dodgers having too much of a good thing.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Though from a fantasy perspective any any other spot in
- 9:13Speaker 2: the league, probably he is a must ad right now.
- 9:16Speaker 2: In the Dodgers, he's a must watch.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to disagree here. I think I think
- 9:22Speaker 1: I like the upside here that I like the bullish
- 9:26Speaker 1: view of Rushing because it has been a really superb bat.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I think there is a bigger pathway to playing time
- 9:36Speaker 1: just given that Michael Conforto has a seventy seven WRC
- 9:39Speaker 1: plus and he's also a negative on defense and left
- 9:42Speaker 1: field that there's no way Dalton Rushing is a worse
- 9:45Speaker 1: left fielder than Michael Conforto right now, I don't think.
- 9:48Speaker 1: And so if the bat can stick, I think you
- 9:53Speaker 1: actually nailed it. That Like your emergency catcher would be
- 9:55Speaker 1: Key Hernandez or Chris Taylor or somebody that they could
- 10:00Speaker 1: risk this in Los Angeles to be able to get
- 10:03Speaker 1: Dalton Rushing maybe like four games a week, which is
- 10:08Speaker 1: which plays and a twelve teamer at catcher. I think
- 10:11Speaker 1: that you're looking at, especially Drake Baldwin's been valuable enough
- 10:15Speaker 1: certainly to own a fifteen teamers, probably not twelve teamers,
- 10:19Speaker 1: but I think you can see something similar for Dalton Rushing,
- 10:21Speaker 1: where there's just enough played appearances with that left handed
- 10:25Speaker 1: bat that I think he's got a pretty good chance
- 10:28Speaker 1: you put in a good lineup that I would if
- 10:31Speaker 1: you're desperate at a catcher in a twelve teamer, which honestly,
- 10:35Speaker 1: it's a little tough because it's a pretty deep position, but.
- 10:37Speaker 2: It's a pretty deep but like flat in the middle position,
- 10:40Speaker 2: there's a lot of like I've got teams in like
- 10:42Speaker 2: I've got like three good catchers, and I'm like, I
- 10:46Speaker 2: don't know what to do with that, but I guess
- 10:49Speaker 2: I give you a little credit here of like a
- 10:51Speaker 2: daily league. I'm a little bit more o yessed because
- 10:53Speaker 2: I think he has that. I'm thinking like a weekly
- 10:56Speaker 2: or Best Ball or anything like that. It's just I'm
- 10:59Speaker 2: concern learned about the playing time, you know, long term
- 11:04Speaker 2: for Rushing throughout the rest of this year. But I
- 11:08Speaker 2: think they've un along slowly. I think he's gonna get
- 11:10Speaker 2: at bats, but you're probably right, maybe three or four
- 11:13Speaker 2: times a week that he'll be in the lineup, and
- 11:16Speaker 2: again he's probably the best bat on that bitch.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think so. And the other thing too
- 11:21Speaker 1: is when it if it doesn't work, they're just gonna
- 11:24Speaker 1: find another path or like I mean, I think Barnes
- 11:28Speaker 1: will probably hang out in triple A, so they could
- 11:31Speaker 1: just bring Barnes back at that point. But you know,
- 11:33Speaker 1: the Dodgers, I don't think are gonna let Dalton rushing flounder, which,
- 11:37Speaker 1: to be honest, I'm he's a little bit more advanced,
- 11:40Speaker 1: so I'm a little less worried about it. Okay, let's look, honestly,
- 11:45Speaker 1: we've got somebody else in the pretty much the exact
- 11:47Speaker 1: same situation on maybe the best team in the Anahell
- 11:50Speaker 1: Central that their lineup is in a similar situation of
- 11:53Speaker 1: the Dodgers, where probably similar amount of playing time for
- 11:56Speaker 1: Moises by a stereos coming up in Wrigley to be
- 12:00Speaker 1: able to play some first base, some catcher, some dh
- 12:04Speaker 1: certainly a much different body type that like he is
- 12:09Speaker 1: just like a thick cookie man. He reminds me of
- 12:12Speaker 1: Williams asked to doo, and I think he's going to
- 12:14Speaker 1: be a fun player. I like these types of guys
- 12:17Speaker 1: just to see, like what they can do on the ball.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Field.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Bia Steros in Triple A at Iowa was batting three
- 12:24Speaker 1: sixty eight four five twenty two. That's a one to
- 12:27Speaker 1: fifty WRC plus four homers, three stolen bases, which is
- 12:32Speaker 1: kind of interesting. What do you think Biasteros can be
- 12:35Speaker 1: in Chicago?
- 12:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm actually much more excited about ball Asteros from
- 12:40Speaker 2: a playing time position. If I put rushing up against
- 12:42Speaker 2: ball Steros, will probaly take rushing had to have, you know,
- 12:45Speaker 2: same same situation. But Bilosteros, he is not terribly different
- 12:51Speaker 2: from a profile, from rushing body type. I think I
- 12:54Speaker 2: would agree with you it's different, but from you know,
- 12:57Speaker 2: solid batting average, gets on base a pretty decent clip,
- 13:01Speaker 2: has really fair fair power. He's not gonna I know,
- 13:05Speaker 2: he's not a good guy that's gonna hit thirty homers,
- 13:07Speaker 2: but give me eighteen twenty with a two seventy average
- 13:11Speaker 2: and some pretty good RBIs, Like, I think he can
- 13:14Speaker 2: be really, really valuable. And so I think he's the
- 13:17Speaker 2: kind of guy that I would be looking at two
- 13:18Speaker 2: catcher leagues, maybe fifteen teamers, looking to add to my
- 13:22Speaker 2: to my kind of cohort of catchers here. I could
- 13:26Speaker 2: see him in that Drake Baldwin kind of like level
- 13:29Speaker 2: of what he's producing. Again, different kind of skill set,
- 13:34Speaker 2: but to your point, like there's just more playing time
- 13:36Speaker 2: available for the for the Cubs. I might disagree with
- 13:40Speaker 2: you with the best team in the central but I
- 13:41Speaker 2: would be a biased argument. But if I look at
- 13:44Speaker 2: like their their you know, depth chart. Here we got
- 13:46Speaker 2: Michael Bush at first, like well, Carson Kelly, he's having
- 13:50Speaker 2: a breakout year at catcher, but he's still gonna need
- 13:52Speaker 2: you know, time off, and they they do have a
- 13:55Speaker 2: maya there behind the play d H is pretty much
- 13:58Speaker 2: wide open. You know, it's he's not gonna play a
- 14:03Speaker 2: whole lot of other spots, but they can you know,
- 14:05Speaker 2: Bush can move around a little bit. From a bench perspective,
- 14:09Speaker 2: you know, Nicky Lopez, Vinyl Brujion, Justin Turner not really
- 14:13Speaker 2: gonna turn heads there. So I think he's gonna play
- 14:18Speaker 2: five or six days out of the week. I think
- 14:20Speaker 2: he's gonna play more than rushing will and I think
- 14:23Speaker 2: he's gonna probably work his way in the middle of
- 14:24Speaker 2: this line up pretty gusharn quickly. I think he is
- 14:27Speaker 2: a little bit a little bit more to go. He's
- 14:30Speaker 2: a younger bat so still some work to do. He's
- 14:32Speaker 2: only twenty one, so he might have a little bit
- 14:35Speaker 2: of a challenge, but I think he's a more mature
- 14:38Speaker 2: bat than a typical twenty one year old.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's spot on. Honestly, I like him
- 14:46Speaker 1: a lot, just like Rushing, where again, I think he's
- 14:48Speaker 1: ownA ble in twelve teamers just to like, you got
- 14:51Speaker 1: to see what he is because if it is what
- 14:54Speaker 1: the bat has shown in triple A, he's gonna be
- 14:57Speaker 1: a very valuable catcher. You something probably top six, top eight,
- 15:02Speaker 1: and it is getting pretty crushed up there in terms
- 15:06Speaker 1: of like who you would have to cut. But like, yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 1: I mean I think if you're looking at like a
- 15:09Speaker 1: Sean Murphy and you kind of are looking to get
- 15:12Speaker 1: to that next tier of a player, I keep suggesting
- 15:15Speaker 1: jonah Heim and my waiver wires, but like, if you
- 15:18Speaker 1: have him, I would drop Jonaheim for rushing or Biasteros.
- 15:21Speaker 1: But yeah, I think you got to give it a
- 15:22Speaker 1: week or two to see what you can get out
- 15:26Speaker 1: of these bats. But yeah, I love both of them.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but I would be willing to throw a few
- 15:30Speaker 2: fab dollars at the guy like Paul Saro's like it's
- 15:33Speaker 2: even if I get if I'm wrong, like I don't,
- 15:36Speaker 2: I don't, But the potential he has if he comes
- 15:39Speaker 2: up and he looks comfortable, you're it's worth the risk
- 15:43Speaker 2: of a few dollars here and there in your fab budget.
- 15:45Speaker 2: If you're wrong, If you cut him in two weeks,
- 15:46Speaker 2: no big deal. You don't want to be sitting there
- 15:48Speaker 2: while somebody else, you know, made that gamble and it
- 15:50Speaker 2: has a payoff.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yes, exactly, I think. So Okay, next promotion we have
- 15:56Speaker 1: is still we're staying on the North side of Chicago.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Kate Horton coming up starting pitcher and although I mean
- 16:03Speaker 1: was used as an opener in his debut, which is strange,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I think, because that is a weird different type of
- 16:09Speaker 1: pressure when you've been starting down in the minors and
- 16:12Speaker 1: like you're then in your MLB debut working as the
- 16:17Speaker 1: bulk guy behind an opener. It's a it's a strange call.
- 16:21Speaker 1: So down at Triple A, Horton had pitched to a
- 16:24Speaker 1: one to twenty four era over twenty nine innings came
- 16:27Speaker 1: with a ten point two K nine but a four
- 16:30Speaker 1: point zero walk per nine. So that is what's kind
- 16:33Speaker 1: of worried me about Horton is the walks, the stuff,
- 16:36Speaker 1: plus on the fastball, which he relies on the most
- 16:39Speaker 1: clocked in it a ninety five. I don't know if
- 16:42Speaker 1: maybe he does seem like more of a bullpen arm
- 16:45Speaker 1: to me, and maybe that's why the Cubs are trying
- 16:48Speaker 1: to get him into that role, as they kind of
- 16:50Speaker 1: are using him breaking him into the major as well,
- 16:52Speaker 1: showed to Imanagas still on the AyL. So I think
- 16:55Speaker 1: I'm a little lower on Horton than probably consensus, but
- 16:59Speaker 1: I want to see what you're ap is, what do
- 17:00Speaker 1: you think Horton could do the rest of twenty twenty five.
- 17:04Speaker 2: We are on the same same wave link tonight. That's
- 17:06Speaker 2: for sure. Horton. He you know, he is a challenge
- 17:11Speaker 2: here because I think he has really decent stuff. I
- 17:14Speaker 2: do think the stuff plus you know, after the outings
- 17:17Speaker 2: not really probably pulling through his full potential. That fastball
- 17:21Speaker 2: that said control issues, flyball issues, two pitch pitcher like,
- 17:26Speaker 2: that's not I mean, unless your fastball is Spencer Stryder's
- 17:29Speaker 2: quality fastball that doesn't play, and that's a bullpen arm.
- 17:34Speaker 2: He throws mid nineties. It's like kind of a ninety
- 17:37Speaker 2: five guy, and he throws the fastball nearly sixty percent
- 17:41Speaker 2: of the time, ballowed up by a slider thirty five
- 17:43Speaker 2: percent of the time, and then he's asides to try
- 17:46Speaker 2: a few other little things like five to six percent
- 17:48Speaker 2: of the time, like you know what's coming, and it's
- 17:51Speaker 2: like and it's all hard stuff too. It's it's not
- 17:54Speaker 2: like he has like a slider. And then he's you know,
- 17:57Speaker 2: trying to play the change up like he's throwing fastball
- 17:59Speaker 2: slider if he even splits it up as a cutter, like,
- 18:02Speaker 2: it's not that he's letting things off. So I think
- 18:06Speaker 2: from him, his stuff can be nasty enough, has enough movement.
- 18:09Speaker 2: It works in the miners. I think it's gonna be
- 18:11Speaker 2: a struggle for him as a starter in the majors.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I think it's a bullpen arm. I think he can
- 18:16Speaker 2: definitely provide major league value, maybe not fantasy value. So
- 18:20Speaker 2: I'm sitting on the sideline with Horton here and just
- 18:23Speaker 2: kind of watching. But there's enough warning signs for me
- 18:26Speaker 2: then I'm probably not gonna take the bait.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think we're in lockstep there. Okay, next
- 18:32Speaker 1: call up we have is Jordan Wahler, second baseman, shortstop,
- 18:36Speaker 1: third baseman, infielder, gonna play all over the place in Arizona.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Got called up, and I'm honestly really confounded by this one,
- 18:47Speaker 1: just because I don't know what to do. From a
- 18:49Speaker 1: fantasy perspective. He doesn't have a really great pathway to
- 18:52Speaker 1: playing time in Arizona without an injury, because well, to
- 18:57Speaker 1: tell Mart's back at second base, I mean he was
- 18:59Speaker 1: an MVP camp date last year. You have Aohennio Suarez
- 19:02Speaker 1: at third, who popped four homers in a game this year,
- 19:05Speaker 1: has been electric since the All Star Break last year.
- 19:08Speaker 1: And then at shortstop you have Heralo Perdomo, who is
- 19:12Speaker 1: playing out of his mind like I always knew he was.
- 19:15Speaker 1: He could be pretty good in like a Ezekiel Tavarish mode,
- 19:19Speaker 1: but I don't know if I saw this coming for Perdomo.
- 19:23Speaker 1: That kind of leaves Lawler without a spot in Arizona.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Even though he was slashing three thirty six, four thirteen,
- 19:30Speaker 1: five seventy nine down in triple A. That's a one
- 19:33Speaker 1: forty two WRC plus six homers thirteen stolen bases. He
- 19:38Speaker 1: was a number one overall pick. I love the pedigree,
- 19:42Speaker 1: I love the prospect, I hate the playing time situation,
- 19:45Speaker 1: So what do you do with a player like this
- 19:48Speaker 1: in fantasy in general? And then what are you doing
- 19:50Speaker 1: with Lawler?
- 19:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's it's funny. I feel like this
- 19:53Speaker 2: is the Dalton Rushing conversation. But I'm like, we're gonna
- 19:55Speaker 2: flip roles here. It's like I'm actually a little interest
- 19:58Speaker 2: in Lawler. And this will sound counter two to because
- 20:01Speaker 2: his like playing time doesn't show this, but like, I
- 20:03Speaker 2: feel like he's the kind of guy that can play
- 20:05Speaker 2: all over the diamond. He has athletic ability to do that.
- 20:08Speaker 2: He hasn't played outfield on the miners, he hasn't played first,
- 20:11Speaker 2: he hasn't don anything else. He's played short all the
- 20:13Speaker 2: time and maybe a little third. But I see him
- 20:16Speaker 2: kind of in that. I don't want to go as
- 20:18Speaker 2: far as like a ben Zobers type thing back in
- 20:20Speaker 2: the day, but like I see him being kind of
- 20:22Speaker 2: a super utility guy that they're just gonna try to
- 20:24Speaker 2: get in the lineup and he's gonna be a little
- 20:26Speaker 2: spark plug. He's gonna top the line up, bottom of
- 20:28Speaker 2: the lineup, he's gonna pench around, he's gonna do a
- 20:30Speaker 2: little bit of everything. So I think he gets in
- 20:32Speaker 2: more games than folks realize. Because he was hitting so well,
- 20:37Speaker 2: They're not just bringing him up for part time playing
- 20:41Speaker 2: like he's he's still just twenty two. They could have
- 20:44Speaker 2: left him down there for another six months to a
- 20:48Speaker 2: year and try to figure things out. They could have,
- 20:51Speaker 2: you know, I think they probably could have got played
- 20:53Speaker 2: a little more roster manipulation with this from a contract perspective.
- 20:57Speaker 2: So I think he's gonna play more than people expect.
- 21:01Speaker 2: That said, I don't know that the power is going
- 21:04Speaker 2: to play as well in Arizona as it has in
- 21:06Speaker 2: the Miners. I think the speed's real. He gets on
- 21:09Speaker 2: base with it. So I'm looking at him more as
- 21:10Speaker 2: a guy that has maybe like ten homeer power, twenty
- 21:13Speaker 2: five steal potential, and he's going to score a heck
- 21:17Speaker 2: of a lot of runs in that kind of lineup.
- 21:19Speaker 2: So I'm taking a flyer lawler for sure, watching very
- 21:22Speaker 2: closely how they use him. But I'm just I feel
- 21:25Speaker 2: like they're going to use them a lot more than
- 21:26Speaker 2: people realize.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I think you would hope that
- 21:30Speaker 1: the talent plays through, but it's a lot of talent
- 21:32Speaker 1: in Arizona, So yeah, I'm fascinated to see where it goes.
- 21:36Speaker 1: It's one of those things where I think, if you're
- 21:39Speaker 1: got a team that's either out front or in the middle,
- 21:42Speaker 1: and you can kind of play with your bench a
- 21:44Speaker 1: little bit, he's a great player to pick up and
- 21:46Speaker 1: like spend a lot of money to pick him up,
- 21:48Speaker 1: to bring him in because he can be that piece
- 21:52Speaker 1: to push you up to first down the stretch if
- 21:55Speaker 1: he really clicks. Honestly, the lower I'm in the standings,
- 21:58Speaker 1: the more hesitant I am to roster Jordan Lawler because
- 22:02Speaker 1: the reason you're low in the standings is because you've
- 22:04Speaker 1: been battling injuries or some of your guys haven't gotten
- 22:07Speaker 1: the amount of playing time that you predicted, and you
- 22:09Speaker 1: can't kind of stack that on with Jordan Lawler, even
- 22:12Speaker 1: though he's got kind of that ability to turn into
- 22:17Speaker 1: like a top three round pick, you know, for rest
- 22:20Speaker 1: of the season because of the talent. So what do
- 22:22Speaker 1: you think about that? Yeah, I think you're.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Right because it's one of those that there is enough
- 22:27Speaker 2: risk here as far as what actually happens, and it
- 22:30Speaker 2: might have to take a little time for the talent
- 22:32Speaker 2: to play through. So then I think you do have
- 22:35Speaker 2: to be willing to like drop something off of your
- 22:37Speaker 2: bench that you aren't like playing matchups, or you have
- 22:42Speaker 2: so many injuries that you only have like two guys
- 22:43Speaker 2: on your bench. Like I think that that is a challenge.
- 22:47Speaker 2: So yeah, lower in the league, I'm probably it is
- 22:51Speaker 2: a little bit harder to do it. I wouldn't be
- 22:55Speaker 2: dropping a clear starter for him. Now I have a
- 22:59Speaker 2: questionable middle infielder all day. I'll play that with that
- 23:04Speaker 2: as well.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I think that's fair. Okay, Well, let's get
- 23:07Speaker 1: to the big one. We saved the best for last.
- 23:09Speaker 1: As first baseman Tim Elco debuted in Chicago on the
- 23:14Speaker 1: South Side this weekend. He was called up after he
- 23:18Speaker 1: was bananas in TRIPLEA at three forty eight, four thirty one,
- 23:22Speaker 1: six seventy one e four WRC plus the darling of
- 23:26Speaker 1: White Sox Reddit as there were like multiple daily posts
- 23:30Speaker 1: before Elko came up that we're just clamoring for this
- 23:33Speaker 1: guy to get a shot because Andrew Vaughn ain't it.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I can tell you that, no matter what the projections say,
- 23:39Speaker 1: I I'm kind of over the Andrew vaugh experience, and
- 23:42Speaker 1: I think the White Sox are starting to get close.
- 23:45Speaker 1: But Elco has shown the big whart in his game
- 23:48Speaker 1: over the weekend, even though he did pop a homer
- 23:51Speaker 1: through three games ten played appearances, struck out three of
- 23:55Speaker 1: those times, but that is the big bugaboo in his game,
- 23:59Speaker 1: as he struck out a twenty eight point five clip
- 24:03Speaker 1: down interle a interest in Tim Elco here just because
- 24:07Speaker 1: of the opportunity in Chicago.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Well, you know, I'll play the cards. As we were
- 24:13Speaker 2: talking before the pod and and I said, Tim, who,
- 24:17Speaker 2: And you know, as I started to look at him,
- 24:19Speaker 2: and I'm sitting here going like, and you know, getting
- 24:22Speaker 2: showing my my Cardinals heritage here, I goes, it's just
- 24:25Speaker 2: Alan Craig want to be like, he's it's an interesting
- 24:29Speaker 2: batting batting line. He seems to hit. He's older, he
- 24:34Speaker 2: has a little pop, has some strikeout issues like and
- 24:38Speaker 2: so I'm sitting here going like, man, I just I'm
- 24:41Speaker 2: not getting excited for him. Now. He playing time shouldn't
- 24:46Speaker 2: be a big deal. But I feel like there's more
- 24:48Speaker 2: of a cult following here than an actual following. Uh,
- 24:51Speaker 2: you know, he's the kind of guy that could get hot.
- 24:54Speaker 2: We talked about, asked Thedo earlier. Briefly, it's the kind
- 24:57Speaker 2: of guy that could get kind of a cult following,
- 24:58Speaker 2: get hot for a little bit and people are like, Oh,
- 25:00Speaker 2: I love this guy, He's the next greatest thing, and
- 25:02Speaker 2: he's out of the league in a year. Like I'm
- 25:04Speaker 2: I'm not too excited about him. I do think you've
- 25:06Speaker 2: spent a little too much time on white sox Reddit,
- 25:10Speaker 2: and maybe there's a little I guess to be on
- 25:12Speaker 2: whit sex. Right, you have to drink a little kool
- 25:14Speaker 2: aid regardless, so I will I will gladly abstain from
- 25:20Speaker 2: any Elko shares at this point in time.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Okay, well that'll be your loss when Tim Olco goes
- 25:28Speaker 1: all Joey Mnesa's honest, because no.
- 25:32Speaker 2: You're not. You're not selling that well with Jody Manessa's reference.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Okay, well, let's turn the corner to some of the
- 25:40Speaker 1: more downer news. We got some injuries to discuss, although
- 25:44Speaker 1: I mean a few kind of comebacks that are coming
- 25:46Speaker 1: on the injury front. But let's start with first one,
- 25:49Speaker 1: second baseman Jordan Westburg from the Baltimore Orioles suffered a
- 25:53Speaker 1: setback on his rehab from his hammy injury. This is
- 25:57Speaker 1: starting to smell a little bit like a lost year
- 25:59Speaker 1: for Jordan Westburg, especially given you look at where the
- 26:03Speaker 1: Orioles are at and the standings right now, they're fifteen
- 26:07Speaker 1: and twenty six, nine games back in the division. By
- 26:10Speaker 1: the time Westburg starts to get back, because you're probably
- 26:14Speaker 1: looking at another six ish weeks, if not more, because
- 26:17Speaker 1: they want to be careful with him, the Orioles might
- 26:20Speaker 1: be totally out of it in that point. They might
- 26:22Speaker 1: just kind of even pump the brakes more on the rehab.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Are you worried about Westburg in that same sort of
- 26:29Speaker 1: vein rest of the year and what do you think
- 26:32Speaker 1: about going into next year? Are you then concerned that
- 26:35Speaker 1: this would have this would have been a good year
- 26:37Speaker 1: for Westburg to start, you know, making those next steps
- 26:40Speaker 1: and growth. So it's if it's a lost year, that's
- 26:44Speaker 1: tough to carve out of the middle of his prime.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I think rest of this year not great news
- 26:51Speaker 2: keeper League best buying time opportunity, ever, is kind of
- 26:55Speaker 2: the way I'm looking at this, because I do think
- 26:58Speaker 2: you're right. I think Westburg's out probably one to two months. Still,
- 27:02Speaker 2: you never know with the news, and this one's there's
- 27:05Speaker 2: not been a lot of detail here besides he's out,
- 27:08Speaker 2: he's not rehabbing, but you know, those those hamstring injuries,
- 27:15Speaker 2: they can be quite the adventure to come back from
- 27:18Speaker 2: at times, especially for a guy that likes maybe wants
- 27:21Speaker 2: to overdo it. But I think why I'm actually a
- 27:24Speaker 2: little more intrigued from a keeper perspective is I think
- 27:26Speaker 2: he's a guy that you will get a few months
- 27:28Speaker 2: at the end of the season to really get a
- 27:29Speaker 2: look at it. And he's shown a lot of capability.
- 27:32Speaker 2: So if you're if we're wrong and he isn't a
- 27:36Speaker 2: long term thing, you should know by the end of
- 27:37Speaker 2: the season as well. But I do think a lot
- 27:39Speaker 2: of owners are gonna be really down on him right
- 27:41Speaker 2: now because he didn't hit terribly well starting the season,
- 27:44Speaker 2: then he got hurt. Now he's kind of re hurt.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I think the momentum is what am I doing with
- 27:51Speaker 2: this guy when at the end of the day, he
- 27:53Speaker 2: is extremely talented and the actual Orioles team is actually
- 27:58Speaker 2: very talented despite what they're doing so far this year.
- 28:02Speaker 2: So I'm long term excited. Short term, it's it's gonna
- 28:06Speaker 2: be a tough one for Westburg.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I think that's all fair. Okay, next injury
- 28:11Speaker 1: news that we have is Seattle pitcher Bryce Miller hit
- 28:15Speaker 1: the il with some elbow inflammation this afternoon. And it's
- 28:19Speaker 1: been a rough, rough season for Bryce Miller, who I
- 28:22Speaker 1: was kind of pumping up during the beginning of the season.
- 28:25Speaker 1: It's been a five to two ERA over thirty nine
- 28:28Speaker 1: and two thirds. The strikeout rate has dropped, the walk
- 28:32Speaker 1: rate has ballooned. But if you go to my waiver
- 28:35Speaker 1: wire piece from this past week on Rasball, I dove
- 28:37Speaker 1: into a little bit. There's just been clamoring all across
- 28:41Speaker 1: the internet last week in the baseball blogisphere about changes
- 28:46Speaker 1: in the strike zone and how it's actually affecting the
- 28:48Speaker 1: top of the strike zone the most. And guess where
- 28:51Speaker 1: Bryce Miller loves to throw that high rise fastball of
- 28:54Speaker 1: his that he can just like pipe in there. Oh yeah,
- 28:57Speaker 1: at the top of the strike zone where he was
- 29:00Speaker 1: getting strike calls. And now I'm actually thinking that like
- 29:03Speaker 1: he was been trying to change this on the fly,
- 29:06Speaker 1: like before he went down with his elbow problem that
- 29:09Speaker 1: were there's talk of like a shoulder issue too, that
- 29:12Speaker 1: like I think he was trying to maybe tweak his
- 29:15Speaker 1: mechanics to be able to change his approach and it's
- 29:18Speaker 1: just not great. That's tough to do for Bryce Miller,
- 29:21Speaker 1: which is a bummer because like, I still believe in him.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I still like him long term because he's a good pitcher,
- 29:27Speaker 1: but like to ask to change your entire strategy kind
- 29:31Speaker 1: of like on the fly like that with a new
- 29:33Speaker 1: strike zone, I think has really thrown a wrench in
- 29:37Speaker 1: his plans for twenty twenty five. So I think it's
- 29:40Speaker 1: actually a great buying opportunity because in keeper leagues, probably
- 29:44Speaker 1: the Bryce Miller owners soured on him the way that
- 29:46Speaker 1: maybe the Jordan Westburg owner has. So what do you think, Brew,
- 29:50Speaker 1: Are you go in the other direction and taking the
- 29:52Speaker 1: victory lap because you did not like Bryce Miller?
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah, well, yes, absolutely, that's where I'm going. We didn't
- 30:00Speaker 2: we didn't do a podcast on our wins from our
- 30:03Speaker 2: buys and cells in the off seasons, but I sold
- 30:06Speaker 2: Bryce Miller pretty hard in our off season podcasts around
- 30:10Speaker 2: the the the NL or the al West. And I'm
- 30:14Speaker 2: pretty sure I got heaping, you know, amount of grief
- 30:20Speaker 2: for how terrible to take that was. So I'm gonna
- 30:23Speaker 2: take a quick victory lap because not the injury perspective,
- 30:27Speaker 2: just all the other things that I saw. I'm like
- 30:30Speaker 2: I didn't like and like his baby returned to normal.
- 30:34Speaker 2: He still doesn't have the greatest velocity, he still doesn't
- 30:36Speaker 2: have the greatest movement, Like it doesn't get enough strikeouts,
- 30:41Speaker 2: Like all these things didn't work. And then like luck
- 30:43Speaker 2: turns and injury resturns, and like it's real bad. And
- 30:47Speaker 2: you know, I'm ignoring the strike zone issues that you're
- 30:49Speaker 2: talking about because that could be real. I don't I
- 30:52Speaker 2: don't really know, but I don't see it as by
- 30:56Speaker 2: an opportunity because it's it's different from a Westberg perspective,
- 31:00Speaker 2: where it's like a hamstring, like we know the expectation
- 31:03Speaker 2: from something like that. You can come back to you
- 31:04Speaker 2: viviual health. We're having decreased results and a really concerning injury,
- 31:11Speaker 2: and so I'm out see you you can have my shares,
- 31:15Speaker 2: that's fine. I don't have any shares, but you can
- 31:16Speaker 2: have much shares if I did.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I wish you did, because I would come shopping. So
- 31:21Speaker 1: there you go, another split panel here on Bryce Miller.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Let's get into the next pitcher injury because this one
- 31:29Speaker 1: we're gonna go back to LA for a couple of
- 31:32Speaker 1: pieces of news. Actually, and so the first one, Roki
- 31:34Speaker 1: Sasaki placed on the injured list with shoulder a shoulder impingement.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Maybe this is where I was getting the shoulder from
- 31:42Speaker 1: because he was obviously battling an elbow issue last year
- 31:45Speaker 1: in Japan. So you're looking at just kind of the
- 31:48Speaker 1: big question mark that was on Sasaki when he came over,
- 31:52Speaker 1: and now he's hitting the eyel Do you think this
- 31:55Speaker 1: is something concerning or do you think this is something
- 31:57Speaker 1: where the Dodgers are massaging his innings and his first
- 32:00Speaker 1: year in MLB.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I career outlook wise, I'm not too concerned.
- 32:06Speaker 2: I do feel like this is I've done no analysis
- 32:10Speaker 2: on this will be very clear, but it does feel
- 32:13Speaker 2: like when the Japanese pitchers come over, it's like a
- 32:17Speaker 2: fifty to fifty of like you're gonna be hurt in
- 32:19Speaker 2: the first two three years and need Tommy John and
- 32:22Speaker 2: then come back see Shoho Tani or you're gonna just
- 32:28Speaker 2: run the table and really make things happen right, and
- 32:31Speaker 2: it it feels like u Sasaki is kind of teetering
- 32:35Speaker 2: towards that first category where adjusting to the pitching, adjusting
- 32:40Speaker 2: to the demands of the Majors is maybe a little
- 32:42Speaker 2: much on his on his body, and it's not like
- 32:44Speaker 2: he didn't have a lot of innings on that arm
- 32:46Speaker 2: already from what he did in Japan. So I'm a
- 32:50Speaker 2: little more concerned here because at the same time, you know,
- 32:54Speaker 2: the the the Dodgers, I get that they're that they've
- 32:57Speaker 2: looked great. They don't have a lot to play with
- 33:00Speaker 2: as far as you know, a starting rotation and depth
- 33:05Speaker 2: to like kind of be babing guys. I mean, we're
- 33:09Speaker 2: we're talking about land and nec is your fourth starting pitcher.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I know, we'll we'll talk about a second here why
- 33:14Speaker 2: he's not truly the fourth starter. But like that's not
- 33:17Speaker 2: what you would expect from a Dodgers team. And that's
- 33:20Speaker 2: mainly because they have an entire starting rotation on the
- 33:24Speaker 2: on the I L rotation. Sorry, they have a full
- 33:28Speaker 2: rotation plus plus like the Rockies rotation.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Uh eight starting pictures on the I L.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Yeah, And so when when you have glass now Kershaws,
- 33:38Speaker 2: Asaki Snell and I don't pick uh Sheihan, you know
- 33:44Speaker 2: on the on the I L and you're you're looking
- 33:46Speaker 2: past River Ryan or Gavin Stone is your call ups? Like, yeah,
- 33:50Speaker 2: they are deep. They don't have a lot of like,
- 33:52Speaker 2: let's just be taken easy on a guy to be
- 33:55Speaker 2: careful right now, and I get there, you're gonna try
- 34:00Speaker 2: run away with things. So I'm concerned a little bit
- 34:03Speaker 2: more short term. Long term, I think he's gonna probably
- 34:07Speaker 2: if I was a Betty Man, next two three years,
- 34:09Speaker 2: we're seeing a surgery for Sasaki, and then he'll come
- 34:12Speaker 2: back better than ever.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean I think a lot of this
- 34:17Speaker 1: is just first year of growing pains. This is why,
- 34:19Speaker 1: like when he was coming over, I was in on
- 34:21Speaker 1: Tasaki for keeper dynasty leagues, but not for twenty twenty five,
- 34:25Speaker 1: and especially like just redraft leagues. You can just look
- 34:30Speaker 1: at what Yoshinobo yamay Moto went through last year. I
- 34:33Speaker 1: think it's almost like a copy and paste that. Given
- 34:36Speaker 1: that the Dodgers have not really said anything too concerning,
- 34:40Speaker 1: it does seem a little bit more like I think
- 34:43Speaker 1: eventually there'll be a surgery, but I think they're going
- 34:45Speaker 1: to try to figure out a way to manage it
- 34:46Speaker 1: for a couple of years and then we'll have something
- 34:49Speaker 1: in a few years down the line. But yeah, we
- 34:51Speaker 1: are going to stay at the Dodgers because you alluded
- 34:54Speaker 1: to this next piece of news there. Clayton Kershaw should
- 34:57Speaker 1: be set to return this weekend, and he's been looking solid,
- 35:03Speaker 1: I would say on the rehabs. The last round at
- 35:07Speaker 1: Triple A he put up twelve innings with a three
- 35:10Speaker 1: seventy five RA. But the ground ball rate looks good,
- 35:14Speaker 1: no case, because the fastball is averaging eighty seven and
- 35:18Speaker 1: a half miles power right now. It still clocks in
- 35:22Speaker 1: on like stuff plus as like a ninety six, which
- 35:25Speaker 1: is a it'll work with the rest of the arsenal,
- 35:28Speaker 1: but like because he gets like good spin, good movement
- 35:32Speaker 1: on it, and he should be locating it well. Although
- 35:36Speaker 1: he has walked a few more than you would like
- 35:38Speaker 1: when he's down there compared to I mean, I don't know.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I'm also kind of red pilled by Brian Clayton Kershaw
- 35:46Speaker 1: that put up like sub two eras. I guess that
- 35:49Speaker 1: is part of the problem too, because this is not
- 35:52Speaker 1: your father's Clayton Kershaw. This is a thirty seven year
- 35:57Speaker 1: old Clayton Kershaw with an eighty seven and a half
- 35:59Speaker 1: mile par fast While do you think he's usable in
- 36:02Speaker 1: twelve teamers?
- 36:04Speaker 2: I do. I actually do think Kershaw is usable in
- 36:06Speaker 2: full teamers because he is an incredibly intelligent and crafty pitcher.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Is he incredibly useful. I'm not gonna say he's incredibly useful.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I'm saying he's useful because I don't think he's gonna
- 36:18Speaker 2: blow up on you. I don't think he's gonna have big,
- 36:20Speaker 2: crooked numbers. I think he's gonna get the most out
- 36:23Speaker 2: of what he can, and he might run a seven
- 36:25Speaker 2: to eight k per nine, but he's gonna keep the
- 36:28Speaker 2: walks down, his whip's gonna be within reason, and so
- 36:32Speaker 2: I think he's just crafty enough to get that value.
- 36:34Speaker 2: I'm never gonna fully bet against Clayton Kershaw. I'm not
- 36:37Speaker 2: gonna put all my eggs in that basket either, but
- 36:40Speaker 2: I'm happily adding into the back of my rotation. Then
- 36:44Speaker 2: maybe picking my spots is probably what I would do
- 36:46Speaker 2: with Kershaw, and if I get something good out of him,
- 36:48Speaker 2: I'm happy if if I don't, no harm, no foul.
- 36:51Speaker 2: So I just will not bet bet against Clayton Kershaw
- 36:55Speaker 2: unless we're in the playoffs, and then it's a whole
- 36:57Speaker 2: different discussion.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Yes, ye, all right, I think I'm in the same boat.
- 37:01Speaker 1: So next piece of News. You thought Clayton Kershaw was old,
- 37:05Speaker 1: Let's get older baby. Richill signed to a minor league
- 37:08Speaker 1: deal with the Kansas City Royals. It would be his
- 37:10Speaker 1: fourteenth team. If he debuted with the Royals, that would
- 37:13Speaker 1: tie Edwin Jackson. Can rich Hill do it? Can he
- 37:17Speaker 1: make the majors in Kansas City?
- 37:20Speaker 2: Another guy I can't bet against me for different discussions. Rich'll,
- 37:26Speaker 2: you know, seems to be one of those guys that
- 37:28Speaker 2: just will not go away. You know, he's forty five.
- 37:33Speaker 2: You know, we're we've hit Jamie Moyer territory at this point.
- 37:37Speaker 2: And yeah, I I just say Richill's gonna pitch in
- 37:41Speaker 2: the majors again this year. It's gonna be for the Royals,
- 37:44Speaker 2: and we'll see what happens. I'm I'm not picking him
- 37:49Speaker 2: up though.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't even think in any only leagues you
- 37:54Speaker 1: should be doing it just so if he gets rolling again, yes,
- 37:58Speaker 1: but like just let it.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Yeah, ri rich was one of those guys that like
- 38:00Speaker 2: he can roll off like five crazy games and then
- 38:03Speaker 2: blow up from like game six to ten.
- 38:05Speaker 1: It is quite the ride. Okay. We started the pod
- 38:09Speaker 1: on kind of a sad note, eulogizing blood Bud Black.
- 38:13Speaker 1: We have another eulogy to put out there for our boy.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Matt Carpenter announced his retirement today. He retires with a
- 38:21Speaker 1: career two fifty nine, three sixty six, four forty nine
- 38:24Speaker 1: slash line, one hundred and seventy nine bombs, won a
- 38:28Speaker 1: World Series with the Saint Louis Cardinals, put up thirty
- 38:32Speaker 1: one and a half career war, which was more than
- 38:35Speaker 1: you ever would have expected from this gangly kid out
- 38:38Speaker 1: of TCU. I'm never going to forget the twenty thirteen
- 38:41Speaker 1: Matt Carpenter season put up seven point two fangrass War
- 38:45Speaker 1: was a MVP candidate, one hundred and twenty six runs
- 38:49Speaker 1: bananas uh just season for Fantasy as well because of
- 38:53Speaker 1: those runs one forty six WRC plus. Was always one
- 38:58Speaker 1: of my favorite players when the Cardinals had him, and
- 39:01Speaker 1: even when he was bouncing around when he had that
- 39:03Speaker 1: little revival in New York. I loved it. It was
- 39:07Speaker 1: something that I could not get enough of. So best
- 39:09Speaker 1: bushes out there to Matt Carpenter and his salsa making abilities,
- 39:13Speaker 1: because I'm sure that's probably what he's going to be doing,
- 39:16Speaker 1: going to turn that into a full time venture. What
- 39:19Speaker 1: do you have to say about Matt, about Matt Carpenter
- 39:21Speaker 1: and send him off.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely love Matt Carpenter. Fantastic guy. Uh love the
- 39:26Speaker 2: fact that he went this early career thing of like
- 39:29Speaker 2: the kind of on base machine score of the runs
- 39:31Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden we turned around. He
- 39:33Speaker 2: was a power hitter. Nobody knew what happened, it was.
- 39:35Speaker 2: It was just fun, fun to watch. Uh, you know,
- 39:38Speaker 2: from a personal note, you know, he's he's I got
- 39:42Speaker 2: a chance to meet Mat Carpenter a few years ago
- 39:45Speaker 2: and incredibly nice guy. I uh happened to into through
- 39:50Speaker 2: a friend a Carpenter game used bath that got just
- 39:54Speaker 2: left at Wrigley and I knew the clubby and he
- 39:57Speaker 2: just said, hey, I know your Cardinals fan. I I'm
- 40:00Speaker 2: not here, you go. And so I got a chance
- 40:04Speaker 2: to meet Carpenter and get that signed, which was which
- 40:06Speaker 2: was cool. But fantastic guy. Uh, great career. I feel
- 40:12Speaker 2: like Carpenter is one of those guys that could have
- 40:14Speaker 2: played as long as he wanted, just because he is
- 40:16Speaker 2: great in the clubhouse and he always he always felt
- 40:19Speaker 2: like he had a chance to go yard when he
- 40:22Speaker 2: was in the batter's box, even though he was kind
- 40:24Speaker 2: of a gangly, no betting love kind of rebel up there.
- 40:28Speaker 2: So uh, best of wishes to Matt Carpenter. Feels like
- 40:31Speaker 2: the kind of guy that's gonna be around the game
- 40:32Speaker 2: for a long time. So I don't think we've seen
- 40:35Speaker 2: the last Matt Carpenter on on a on a ball field.
- 40:39Speaker 2: He has coach written all over him.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think that's fair. I think also maybe
- 40:44Speaker 1: like college coach, like he would strike me in college.
- 40:48Speaker 2: College coach, he's the he's he's that bench coach that
- 40:52Speaker 2: just goes nasty on you, just yells at you all
- 40:55Speaker 2: the time, like I. He's he's got that grit. There's
- 40:58Speaker 2: there's a lot to like there.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Yes, Okay, well we'll missing Matt Carpenter, best of luck
- 41:03Speaker 1: in your retirement, and let's get into the baseball card
- 41:07Speaker 1: calendar because we had a few additions here, so we
- 41:11Speaker 1: got on June fourth. Top Sterling is coming out. That
- 41:14Speaker 1: is a very high end set. We won't really discuss
- 41:16Speaker 1: it because that is way out of our price range
- 41:20Speaker 1: and I've only seen a few of them in the wild.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Like they're not they're very very rare cards. You don't
- 41:25Speaker 1: even get to touch them very much. You also will
- 41:28Speaker 1: have TOPS Dynamic Duels coming out on May twenty second
- 41:32Speaker 1: and the TOPS Series two from twenty twenty five. They
- 41:36Speaker 1: set the pre order on Tops dot com. If you
- 41:39Speaker 1: also go to Chasing Majors dot com and go to
- 41:41Speaker 1: like their schedule. They've started putting lots of other stuff
- 41:44Speaker 1: out there. So we've got lots of things that should
- 41:47Speaker 1: be coming out over the summer, but especially after they
- 41:49Speaker 1: get TOPS Series two out, that's when they'll start be
- 41:53Speaker 1: focusing on those specialty products. With all that, we're going
- 41:57Speaker 1: to take a short break. If you need any details
- 42:01Speaker 1: on any of those news and notes that we discussed,
- 42:03Speaker 1: go to the show notes check them out there. But
- 42:06Speaker 1: we're going to take that break, come back with the
- 42:07Speaker 1: April Player of the Month PC. Stick around everybody, all right,
- 42:27Speaker 1: Welcome back everybody. We are going to discuss April Player
- 42:31Speaker 1: of the Month PC. And so if you're not familiar
- 42:34Speaker 1: with this practice is is we go back through the hitter,
- 42:39Speaker 1: pitcher and Rookie of the month for each league, pick
- 42:43Speaker 1: a favorite card to put into our podcast PC. That
- 42:46Speaker 1: is in the show notes with the link and as
- 42:49Speaker 1: well as you should go to rasball dot com look
- 42:51Speaker 1: at the post related to this podcast and you can
- 42:54Speaker 1: see all of the pictures of these cards we're about
- 42:56Speaker 1: to describe all in one post on rasball dot com.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Check it out. It just makes it much easier. You
- 43:02Speaker 1: can also interact with us there make comments on this
- 43:05Speaker 1: post to be able to tell us any of your
- 43:08Speaker 1: PC editions or if you have any questions in your
- 43:10Speaker 1: fantasy teams, We'll be happy to help you out. But
- 43:13Speaker 1: with that, I think we've got a great mix of
- 43:16Speaker 1: players tonight. I mean, we are expanding the Aaron Judge
- 43:19Speaker 1: PC even further after he had a fantastic April came
- 43:24Speaker 1: I mean, I guess we haven't talked very much about
- 43:28Speaker 1: Aaron Judge, but like it's insane watching him play, isn't it? Like,
- 43:33Speaker 1: what do you think what marvels you the most about
- 43:36Speaker 1: watching Aaron Judge? Because it does feel like we're living
- 43:39Speaker 1: through like another kind of if it wasn't for a show,
- 43:43Speaker 1: hey too, Like we'd be discussing Aaron Judge like as
- 43:46Speaker 1: the greatest player of all time possibly, but like it's
- 43:49Speaker 1: incredible to see both of them going at the same time.
- 43:53Speaker 1: What just like makes you think about Aaron Judge.
- 43:58Speaker 2: It's really fun to watch him hit him a hit uh, duh.
- 44:02Speaker 2: But the reason I say that it is, you know,
- 44:06Speaker 2: for for the best players in the in the world,
- 44:09Speaker 2: the game slows down. And I I feel like, you
- 44:12Speaker 2: know you say that, and that's from the player's perspective,
- 44:15Speaker 2: like things are easy. Things happen like they can see
- 44:17Speaker 2: things happening before they happen, so they know what to do.
- 44:21Speaker 2: I feel like when I'm watching Aaron Judge, the world
- 44:22Speaker 2: slows down for me. Like as I watch him, it
- 44:25Speaker 2: feels like like Judge is gonna be like be it
- 44:28Speaker 2: on a fastball, because he's just this long, lanky frame
- 44:31Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden, it's just in the seats,
- 44:34Speaker 2: Like he he doesn't look like he's going to just
- 44:38Speaker 2: put one out in the seats because he does have
- 44:40Speaker 2: that long swing. It does take him a lot to
- 44:43Speaker 2: move get that body going, but it also looks just
- 44:46Speaker 2: so easy. It does not look like he's trying to
- 44:48Speaker 2: put a big swing into it. He just swings and
- 44:50Speaker 2: then it hits like the barrel and just leaves it
- 44:53Speaker 2: leaves the field. It's it's not a question of what happens.
- 44:57Speaker 2: And so, uh, I think it's just incredible he's done.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I'm so excited that he stayed healthy. That's always been
- 45:04Speaker 2: the issue with Aaron Judges. Can't he stay healthy? And
- 45:07Speaker 2: it's just phenomenal to watch him. I think you're right.
- 45:09Speaker 2: We are. We are living through one of the potentially
- 45:13Speaker 2: historic seasons of Aaron Judge, and I don't think we
- 45:16Speaker 2: would be recognize it fully because of what Otani did
- 45:19Speaker 2: last year. I'll even own like, I just moved into
- 45:22Speaker 2: my top hitter for my hitter rankings this last week,
- 45:25Speaker 2: and I had Otani there because of the steals, and
- 45:26Speaker 2: I just I kept looking at like, I still can't
- 45:29Speaker 2: do it. Judge is literally the best hitter on the planet.
- 45:32Speaker 2: I don't care if the Rodo gods want the steals,
- 45:37Speaker 2: it'll matter. Judge is going to w up in homers
- 45:40Speaker 2: and RBIs and everything else, and it's totally worth it.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Well, yeah, and now a huge batting average asset because
- 45:47Speaker 1: his April was just prepare yourself for these stats. Thirty
- 45:51Speaker 1: one games. So for the semantics heads out there, it
- 45:55Speaker 1: is technically the March in April games. For this thirty
- 45:58Speaker 1: one games, a four to twenty seven batting average, over
- 46:01Speaker 1: one hundred and forty played appearances, ten homers, three stolen bases,
- 46:07Speaker 1: that clocks in at a two point fifty seven WRC
- 46:10Speaker 1: plus the easy choice for Player of the Month in
- 46:14Speaker 1: April for the al hitter. These are our eighth and
- 46:18Speaker 1: ninth cards that go into our PC for Aaron Judge
- 46:20Speaker 1: because he keeps winning every Player of the Month, he
- 46:23Speaker 1: keeps winning every MVP award. I mean, we're gonna be
- 46:27Speaker 1: having probably more Aaron Judge PCD auditions. So what are
- 46:30Speaker 1: you putting in for the eighth card?
- 46:32Speaker 2: Yeah, So I had to go different this time because
- 46:34Speaker 2: I feel like, you know, I filled my my Aaron
- 46:37Speaker 2: Judge PC with all these cool, expensive, crazy cards. Not
- 46:41Speaker 2: that I'm gonna go cheap this time, but like I've
- 46:44Speaker 2: gone hot End, I've gone you know, Corky, given all
- 46:46Speaker 2: these things, and I just wanted something different, and there's
- 46:48Speaker 2: no better places to go for something different this relevant
- 46:51Speaker 2: than tops Now, And so I'm going with tops now
- 46:55Speaker 2: Field of Dreams auto corn stock relic from the Field
- 47:01Speaker 2: of Dreams game back in August of twenty twenty one.
- 47:07Speaker 2: And it's just it's it's it's it's great. It's a
- 47:11Speaker 2: corn piece of corn stock from the game with the
- 47:14Speaker 2: official MLB authentication sticker on it, and it doesn't say
- 47:18Speaker 2: it's game worn, it is game used. I don't know
- 47:24Speaker 2: how the corn stock was. It literally says its authenticate
- 47:28Speaker 2: as game. It does say game used. I don't know
- 47:32Speaker 2: how they like it. Did take a foul ball? I'm
- 47:34Speaker 2: not quite sure.
- 47:36Speaker 1: They steal it. That did somebody sneakily like, go grab
- 47:39Speaker 1: a piece of corn an ear of corn?
- 47:41Speaker 2: Well, this is out of ninety nine. They got a
- 47:43Speaker 2: whole stock for all I know.
- 47:44Speaker 1: But there's many layers to a corn husk. You should
- 47:48Speaker 1: know that it's central illinoisan Well.
- 47:51Speaker 2: What what I'm trying to understand is like, uh, you
- 47:54Speaker 2: know how well in case does this have to be
- 47:57Speaker 2: to maintain? Is this going to like start moan overtime? Like?
- 48:01Speaker 2: I don't quite know, but either way, it's just so unique.
- 48:04Speaker 2: It's such a cool card. They are not the cheapest
- 48:08Speaker 2: buy and now eBay fifteen hundred bucks, but I guess
- 48:12Speaker 2: for an Aaron Judge autograph out of ninety nine, that's
- 48:14Speaker 2: probably not out of the question. So yeah, I'm going
- 48:18Speaker 2: a little quirky this time around, but I just felt
- 48:20Speaker 2: like I needed something unique for Aaron Judge, for the
- 48:23Speaker 2: unique season he's outing.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I think it's a perfect card. It's fantastic, great choice.
- 48:29Speaker 1: This is also like, you know, match well with if
- 48:32Speaker 1: you want the cheaper version of the Field of Dreams card.
- 48:35Speaker 1: One of the cards that we put in was the
- 48:36Speaker 1: twenty twenty two Stadium Club Chrome Refractor last year, and
- 48:41Speaker 1: so that's a picture of him in front of the
- 48:43Speaker 1: corn that might be inside your card. So great pickup.
- 48:47Speaker 2: All right, where did you go?
- 48:49Speaker 1: I also went quirky because like, I'm kind of in
- 48:51Speaker 1: the same boat where we've been picking a lot of
- 48:54Speaker 1: really cool, like historical Aaron Judge cards, let's pick some
- 48:57Speaker 1: funny ones. I went to twenty twenty five Top Series one.
- 49:01Speaker 1: It's his regular card, but the big Head variation, just
- 49:05Speaker 1: because like we haven't put a big Head variation into
- 49:08Speaker 1: our PC and we haven't talked about them too much,
- 49:11Speaker 1: but I think there's some of the goofiest variation short
- 49:14Speaker 1: print parallels out there. They also, like my favorite is
- 49:18Speaker 1: on Reddit when people find them and don't necessarily know
- 49:22Speaker 1: that they're a part of the product, because it's essentially
- 49:26Speaker 1: just Aaron Judge running out of the box in his
- 49:29Speaker 1: normal twenty twenty five Tops flagship card, but his head
- 49:34Speaker 1: has been enlarged, like he's playing Donkey Kong mode and
- 49:37Speaker 1: Golden Eye looks like a bobblehead. On Reddit when people
- 49:41Speaker 1: pull this thing, they're just like, what on earth is this?
- 49:44Speaker 1: Why is his head so big? If they don't know
- 49:45Speaker 1: what it is? And everyone's like, Yeah, that's a sweet
- 49:48Speaker 1: big head short print. You can never go wrong with them.
- 49:50Speaker 1: So I'm putting the short print big Head variation number
- 49:55Speaker 1: three hundred of Aaron Judge into our PC. Also a
- 49:58Speaker 1: little more affordable, but certainly still hard to get your
- 50:02Speaker 1: hands on because of the short print variation. Yeah.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I have such mixed emotions of the card. It looks
- 50:07Speaker 2: so ridiculous, but it's valuable, and so like you look
- 50:11Speaker 2: at this and like, how can you and your like
- 50:13Speaker 2: say good conscience put this like in your binder of
- 50:16Speaker 2: Aaron Judge like cards. And then you just had this
- 50:17Speaker 2: goofy looking like big Head in there, Like it just
- 50:20Speaker 2: feels like a cheap insert that should be there, but yeah,
- 50:23Speaker 2: it's not. It's it's fun. I'm glad we had fun
- 50:27Speaker 2: with Aaron Judge. I think it was just so we
- 50:28Speaker 2: didn't have to look up all the other cars we've
- 50:29Speaker 2: had door PC. I didn't want to get the monster
- 50:31Speaker 2: box out and sort it.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point, Like, well, you're gonna have
- 50:35Speaker 1: to start really thoroughly checking the list because it's about
- 50:39Speaker 1: to get like twelve to fifteen deep by the end
- 50:41Speaker 1: of the year. It's gonna be a large Aaron Judge PC.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Not a cheap one, but a large one. Okay, Let's
- 50:47Speaker 1: move on to our next player, the n AL batter
- 50:49Speaker 1: of the month, and that was right across town in
- 50:52Speaker 1: New York. Pete Alonzo signed that contract make good contract
- 50:56Speaker 1: in New York with the Mets, and he certainly is
- 50:59Speaker 1: making good on it. Through March slash April, he put
- 51:04Speaker 1: up a three forty three batting average over one hundred
- 51:06Speaker 1: and thirty seven plate appearances. Seven homers helped the Mets
- 51:10Speaker 1: get off to a great start, as he also put
- 51:13Speaker 1: up a two fifteen WRC plus. This is the first
- 51:16Speaker 1: time we get to discuss Peede Alonzo and put them
- 51:18Speaker 1: into our PC. So what card are you going to pick?
- 51:22Speaker 2: Honestly, there was no question what card I was going for.
- 51:24Speaker 2: It was just a matter of I can find example
- 51:26Speaker 2: of this card, and I'm going to go with the
- 51:28Speaker 2: twenty twenty tops Pee Alonzo Super short Print. I believe
- 51:34Speaker 2: it's from series one, yeah, series one, and it's the
- 51:38Speaker 2: polar Bear short print and all it is because Pete
- 51:40Speaker 2: Alonso nicknamed the polar Bear. All it is is pie
- 51:45Speaker 2: Alonzo's name on the card, just like a TOPS card,
- 51:47Speaker 2: it's a picture of polar Bear. But it was incredibly
- 51:51Speaker 2: super short printed. You cannot find these anywhere. The only
- 51:55Speaker 2: one I found on eBay had sold for twenty five
- 51:56Speaker 2: hundred dollars. And it is just like I remember when
- 51:59Speaker 2: this came out, like it was like an iconic you
- 52:02Speaker 2: have to have it. I don't know, and I thought
- 52:04Speaker 2: it was interesting. I didn't feel like Pete, Pete Alonzo
- 52:07Speaker 2: had like a lot of great cards, like I don't
- 52:11Speaker 2: know how else to say that, Like I didn't find
- 52:13Speaker 2: like this great stock and like all these cool cards
- 52:16Speaker 2: when I think of Pete, like, yes, I want this.
- 52:18Speaker 2: It was just really unique and so I had to
- 52:22Speaker 2: have it in a PC. That was the first card
- 52:23Speaker 2: that came to mind. It's just a matter, like I said,
- 52:25Speaker 2: if I could find it, So check out the link
- 52:28Speaker 2: in the description. It is a cool, cool card.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Yes, it was a race to the PC list to
- 52:34Speaker 1: put this card in it because it is probably one
- 52:36Speaker 1: of the iconic cards like since twenty twenty or honestly
- 52:40Speaker 1: maybe the past ten years that like, like you said,
- 52:43Speaker 1: you can't find this card. This immediately went into every
- 52:45Speaker 1: Mets collector's PC because it was a super short print.
- 52:51Speaker 1: There are just no more copies available last Winsole for
- 52:54Speaker 1: twenty five hundred bucks. Good luck trying to find one.
- 52:57Speaker 1: But you know what, in a fake PC, we get to.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Put it in absolutely cannon. You know, if there's a
- 53:03Speaker 2: crazy card that you're gonna find the Wild and Good
- 53:05Speaker 2: Card Show, it's this one. Because somebody's be like it's
- 53:08Speaker 2: a polar Bear. This is clearly just a knockoff. Insert
- 53:10Speaker 2: and throw the dollar box like it's such a it's
- 53:14Speaker 2: such a oddly divers of advice's advice of iconic card,
- 53:20Speaker 2: Like I just love it. So anyway, I took the
- 53:23Speaker 2: took the obvious one because I wanted to have my PC.
- 53:26Speaker 2: H where did you go since you had a second pick?
- 53:28Speaker 1: Well, I mean I actually I had a little bit
- 53:30Speaker 1: of the same trouble you did in terms of like
- 53:34Speaker 1: Pete Alonso is just kind of a goofy dude, and
- 53:37Speaker 1: some of his cards just kind of follow that goofiness
- 53:40Speaker 1: in terms of he doesn't photograph quite as well on
- 53:45Speaker 1: some of these cards as some of these players, which
- 53:46Speaker 1: is maybe why that Polar card is Polar Bear card
- 53:48Speaker 1: is so popular. But I had to go back to
- 53:52Speaker 1: just an original great card because of it being the
- 53:56Speaker 1: first time with Pete Alonzo and the PC. I'm going
- 53:59Speaker 1: to his twenty twenty Bowman draft, going to get the
- 54:02Speaker 1: Chrome Refactor auto blue wave of one point fifty goes
- 54:07Speaker 1: for a cool fifteen hundred bucks.
- 54:10Speaker 2: It is.
- 54:12Speaker 1: The photoshop of Pete Alonzo on this card is not
- 54:15Speaker 1: particularly great, but I think that also shows you kind
- 54:17Speaker 1: of like where his New York Media Order rise came from,
- 54:22Speaker 1: because when he was picked originally, I don't think people
- 54:25Speaker 1: next to the had great expectations of what Pete Alonzo
- 54:29Speaker 1: could be that honestly, it's a little bit like a
- 54:32Speaker 1: flip flop of him and Andrew Vaughn where you thought
- 54:34Speaker 1: that their careers would go, because Alonso did not have
- 54:37Speaker 1: quite the same hype as somebody like Andrew vaugh And
- 54:42Speaker 1: you can see that in the details that Tops put
- 54:44Speaker 1: into the photoshop on this card of his Bowman first.
- 54:47Speaker 1: So all the Bowmen first are a little bit expensive
- 54:51Speaker 1: for Pete just because there weren't a lot of like
- 54:54Speaker 1: cards out there as he made his rise through the
- 54:58Speaker 1: minor leagues, but this one has to go in because
- 55:01Speaker 1: you can't go wrong with the Bowman first color match.
- 55:05Speaker 2: You can't. And I have not clearly not wrote enough
- 55:08Speaker 2: twenty sixteen Bowman draft cards on the back. And I
- 55:12Speaker 2: just love the fact that it gives you just random
- 55:14Speaker 2: facts about Pete Alonzo if you didn't know, he was
- 55:16Speaker 2: a National Honor Society member. He also enjoys enjoys boting.
- 55:23Speaker 1: That's fantastic, man. I mean, it would make sense that
- 55:27Speaker 1: somebody who is naturally in the water all the time,
- 55:32Speaker 1: like a polar bear would enjoy boating. So yes, they
- 55:35Speaker 1: go Pete good ab Okay, let's move on to the
- 55:38Speaker 1: pictures in the al We're staying in New York still.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Max Freed, coming off of the mega deal he signed
- 55:44Speaker 1: in the off season, put up a five to zero
- 55:47Speaker 1: record with a one nineteen RA over thirty seven and
- 55:50Speaker 1: two thirds innings. But the Yankees was fantastic, and I
- 55:55Speaker 1: mean has just been really sharp, certainly better than I
- 55:59Speaker 1: think I would expected because you're kind of always waiting
- 56:04Speaker 1: for the ball to drop on a Max Freed injury.
- 56:07Speaker 1: He's been always battling four arm issues elbow issues over
- 56:11Speaker 1: the past couple of years, but the Yankees have been
- 56:14Speaker 1: righting the hot arm for the season so far. Which
- 56:19Speaker 1: card you picking for Max Freed to put into the PC?
- 56:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I with Max Free, Like I think it's a
- 56:25Speaker 2: tale of the majority of the pitcher market in the
- 56:29Speaker 2: card community, not not the Paul Skins side of things,
- 56:33Speaker 2: but it's just incredible what you can find for a
- 56:37Speaker 2: pitcher like Max Fried, who is an All Star in
- 56:40Speaker 2: every man of the word. And so I went with
- 56:42Speaker 2: his twenty twenty four Tops Triple Threads Jumbo patch book.
- 56:49Speaker 2: One of one card has three separate patches, one of
- 56:52Speaker 2: them being a jumbo patch and they are all jumbos
- 56:57Speaker 2: from the twenty twenty two will be All Star Festivities.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Does not stay necessarily the game the festivities, so that
- 57:06Speaker 2: means he just worked during the home run derby while
- 57:09Speaker 2: he was watching the home run urmyals be very clear.
- 57:12Speaker 2: But it is an absolutely amazing card. I'm a big
- 57:15Speaker 2: sucker for the cool patches and you can just see
- 57:19Speaker 2: that this is a kind of to the point of
- 57:21Speaker 2: one of one, such a unique thing to bring into
- 57:25Speaker 2: a PC. And at the end of the day, it's
- 57:27Speaker 2: like a three hundred dollars card. It's not it's not
- 57:29Speaker 2: out of bounds versus a cornstock autograph card from Aaron
- 57:32Speaker 2: Judge sitting five times the cost.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a beautiful card and something about like
- 57:38Speaker 1: the corny All Star game designs look great on the
- 57:41Speaker 1: baseball cards we discovered this last year with the tops
- 57:45Speaker 1: update inserts, with the relics of the just awful uniforms
- 57:50Speaker 1: that they had last year. It looks great on a
- 57:52Speaker 1: baseball card. Same thing here. The gold really pops fantastic pick.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I love it.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Small doses of those All Star jerseys, I think is
- 57:59Speaker 2: the way to go.
- 58:00Speaker 1: I think that's probably what it is. Okay, Well, for me,
- 58:05Speaker 1: I had to go with a really old school card
- 58:08Speaker 1: just to remind everybody how long Max Freed has been around.
- 58:11Speaker 1: I went back to twenty twelve Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects,
- 58:16Speaker 1: as we have his Bowman chrome first autograph from Max
- 58:21Speaker 1: Freed looking like a twelve year old on this card
- 58:26Speaker 1: with a Padres jersey on. So if you don't recall,
- 58:30Speaker 1: he went to from the Padres to the Braves in
- 58:34Speaker 1: I believe that just an Upton deal. If I I
- 58:38Speaker 1: think and so like, that's how far back like Max
- 58:43Speaker 1: Freed's been rolling around, you know, he was drafted straight
- 58:46Speaker 1: out of high school. Funny enough, Also, like I'm looking
- 58:50Speaker 1: at this on TCDB, I wonder if Jake Mintz, he
- 58:53Speaker 1: looks like he might have been the one that submitted
- 58:55Speaker 1: the back of this card on TCDB from uh BA
- 59:00Speaker 1: Baul Barberacast the podcast. That would be funny if he did.
- 59:03Speaker 1: But we are looking at just an original card from
- 59:08Speaker 1: Max Freed using his little eighteen year old signature back
- 59:11Speaker 1: in the day. And you can't go wrong with a
- 59:13Speaker 1: Bowman first chrome auto. So I'm going right back to
- 59:16Speaker 1: that well for Maxfreed here.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Yeah, which I think is great, And I think what's
- 59:20Speaker 2: I actually find kind of funny about this? If you
- 59:23Speaker 2: read the back of his card, it basically says he
- 59:25Speaker 2: could pack on even more velocies his body fills out
- 59:28Speaker 2: because he's listed six four one seventy. He was thrown
- 59:30Speaker 2: ninety five, then he's now six four one nineties thrown
- 59:33Speaker 2: ninety five. Like Max Free is not filled out like
- 59:37Speaker 2: I mean I filled out, Like it's a whole difference
- 59:39Speaker 2: more than twenty pounds. I'll tell you that from going
- 59:40Speaker 2: from high school to where I'm at now. But Max
- 59:43Speaker 2: Maxfreed is the same lanky kid that he's always been.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Yes, that's pretty funny. Okay, well let's get out of
- 59:50Speaker 1: New York finally to get one of thest players, another
- 59:52Speaker 1: player into our PC. We are going back to La
- 59:56Speaker 1: the way we did a lot in our news and notes.
- 59:58Speaker 1: For the NL Picture of the Month, we have Yoshinobo Yamamoto,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: who had a fantastic thirty four inning start to the season,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: over which he posted a one point six ERA, fanned
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: forty three players, and went, uh, what was the record?
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Let me find that real fast, because that's not real
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: easy on the fancy sabermetrically sign fine like fine tuned
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: sites that I'm looking at. He ended up going three
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and two. That's probably why they didn't list that in
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: the news blurb, because to go three and two the
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: two losses with a one oh six ERA not easy
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: to do first time. Yamamoto is going into our PC,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I believe. Let me check that it is true. So
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: we've got our first two cracks at some Yamamoto cards.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: What are you picking to go in?
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm no own this. I cheated. I took advantage
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: of this and I'm going with a twenty twenty four
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: Bowmen Chrome dual auto, uh from what it would have
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: been his rookie year out of twenty five dual auto
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: with Shohetani. Unfortunately it's not an on card auto, but
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: it is just two beautiful signatures, both in their Dodger
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: uniforms with the international impact cards. That's got the Japanese
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: flag right in the middle. Just a beautiful card. And
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: to be able to have a dual auto Otanian and
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Yamamoto is just gold, absolutely gold. And so when I
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: saw saw this out there, I'm like, yeah, if I'm
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: add in some of the PC, it's gonna be timeless
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: no matter what happens with the Moto's career, what happens
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: with Tani's career, this is going to be an icon
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: type card long long term. It's not going to be
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: something you see very much around. So, uh, you can
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: grab buy one right now on eBay around eight thousand dollars, so,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: you know, just a just a nice little car. If
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: you want as a trade to trade in your your
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: daily commute for a baseball card piece of cardboard, you
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: absolutely can do that. But I had, like I said,
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: I had to chieve the system a little bit. I
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: had to bring Otani back in for the PC.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Yes, this is a fantastic card, just I mean with
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: the Japanese tie in, it's an iconic card. And yeah,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: you are really charging the credit card on the PC
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: here pretty hard tonight.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I definitely am. I'm gonna have to work things
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: off for sure, get to.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: You on a payment planned. Okay, I'm gonna go over
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: to Japan for my card for Yoshi Nomo yam Yoshi
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Nobo Yamamoto, because we've done this a little bit with
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Otani picking cards from Japan, but especially when he was
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: over there, cards were a little bit less of a deal,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: I would say, over in the Japanese market when he
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: was starting to get his start as a rookie. Yamamoto
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: has a few more options. I'm gonna go with the
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: twenty seventeen BBM, which is BBM is essentially like the
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: tops flagship of Tokyo of Yoshiobo Yamamoto. Just the number
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: one fifty seven. You can just see how fresh faced
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: he is. And honestly, it's a pretty solid design. It
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: reminds me a lot of like actually like nineteen ninety
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: five Fleer I think it was. Do you remember the
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Fleer that was like Matt and it had like the
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: block letters. That's what it reminds me of. It'd be
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: cool if this was also like a Matt card the
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: way that Fleer card was. But yeah, just the classic
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: pose of Yamamoto posing in making a throw during warmups.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: The back is all in Japanese, so I have no
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: idea what it is trying to tell me about his
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: life in times over in Japan. But you can't go
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: wrong with a classic Japanese rookie card of Yamamoto for
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: the PC.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you know me, I have a soft spot for
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: BBM cards and this. There is something about the simplicity
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: of the design of these that I absolutely just love.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: And the BBM tends to kind of have that going
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: for him that they're not over the top. They are
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: It's kind of like Stadium Club to a degree, where
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: they just have this is about the photo of the
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: player rather than all the craziness of the design. So
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: great pick. I do love the fact that you know
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: there's a rookie story in the back, and you know
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: there's a little bit did you know about them? But
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: then you don't know anything about them because it is
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: all in Japanese. What I don't understand and I need
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: to learn this is why is the rookie story and
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: the did you know in English when the rest of
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: us in Japanese. I don't quite understand that, but it's okay,
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: great pick for the Oryx Buffalo's rookie.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Yes, I think this is a great like insight into
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: I don't know, that would be a fascinating I wonder
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: why they do like parts in English obviously for us,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: but like it'd be great to kind of like get
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: the actual kind of larger backstory of why they do
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: the mix and match, and it would be interesting to
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: just kind of dive into that. All right, all right,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: so let's move on to those rookies now. So we're
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: gonna and go back to the al. The first rookie
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: that we have out of Boston, Christian Campbell Second Basement,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: has been just honestly a revelation for the Red Sox.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I'm surprised still that he made it out of camp,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: and he's been extremely successful, as this Rookie of the
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Month shows. In the first month there, he batted three
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: zho one across one hundred and twenty three plate appearances,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: hit four homers to a couple of bases, eighteen runs,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: twelve RBIs. The strikeouts are a little high, but like
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: I mean, this is a twenty two year old learning
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: the big league's kind of after a meteoric rise through
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: the miners, not a lot of draft pedigree. Was a
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: comp fourth round pick for the Red Sox back in
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: twenty twenty three out of Georgia Tech. And so this
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: is the first time we've got Christian Campbell cards to
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: pick and because of that draft kind of lack of pedigree,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: it's slim pickens. So some of these are some hot cards,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: which Carter, are you gonna put into the PC first?
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I had to go go back to the good
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: old basics of Bowman Chrome autos, So we're gonna go
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: with his twenty twenty three Bowman Chrome first Red refractor. Uh.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: This is always the fun thing with the Red Sox
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: and any other team in Red your team color match refractors.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: They're out of five and they are harder to find,
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: hard to come by. But the Christian Campbell out of
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: five is a beautiful card, wonderful match to the jersey
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: there and actually you know it's one of those interesting
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: autographs from Campbell where at the end of the day,
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: like it's a really lazy autograph, but it looks good.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: All he did was put an L and or sorry Kate,
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: and what appears to be an L. I'm not sure
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: if it's a C for Campbell, if it's if he
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: just started got the first letter the first name and
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: the last letter the last name. I'm not quite sure
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: what he's going for, but it looks cool, and that's
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: all we're playing for here. So Christian Campbell first Bowman
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: red Refractor auto out of five add into the PC.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and if you get in on it while you're
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: listening to this pod after the first couple of days,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: it comes out live auction on this card currently eighteen
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty five dollars as we're speaking. Does
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: this thing go north at ten grand?
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: I don't think it does, maybe because he's hitting one
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: of five in May, but I think this is one
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: of those cards ends up like I'm gonna say four
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: to five thousand dollars.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Okay, I think it's gonna get probably more into like
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: eight seven to eight.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: K I'm gonna add to my watch list now, and
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna just get all kinds of notifications, except we'll
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: talk about it next week when we get back.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: I will say this is doing the PC picks is
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: always fun around here because then for weeks on end,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I'll get like the most ridiculous offers on the most
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: bananas cards that we talk about, like the Rokie Susaki
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Blue autos we talked about last. I get lots of
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: offers from the eBay app. It's like, no eBay, just research.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Research. I don't feel like my retirement fund on this card.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Yes exactly, Okay, my pick is like I said, it's
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: slim pickens. But Christian Campbell should be having more rookie
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: cards come out in more sets as twenty twenty five
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: goes on, because we know from TOPS now he's got
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: in our C logo, which means he will be in
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: TOPS update. We don't know about twenty twenty five right
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: now for series two because actually I was looking at
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: the checklist on tops dot com right now. You click
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: on it just goes to the twenty twenty four checklist,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: so we don't know what the series two checklist is
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: right now. I would guess that Campbell ends up and update.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: But if you're looking for a Christian Campbell rookie card
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: right now, you can go to twenty twenty five Tops
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: now number eleven to commemorate his first hit in his
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: mlbbait debut. Honestly, nothing much else going on in this card.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: It's just kind of Hey got his first hit as
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: a rookie in his first game. You got to put
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: it in your PC. If you're Christian Campbell collector, Well.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: I because I have Google, I just found the checklist
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: for twenty twenty five Series two. Christian Campbell is in
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: the checklist of one of the base card short prints.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: He doesn't have a base card, he just has a
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: short print him Smatshot and Cam Smith. So if you
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: recall they've done this before where they put some of
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: those hot rookies in Series two, as you know, super
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: short prints or short prints, and then the actual bass
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: rookie comes out and update. So it looks like we'll
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: get a glance of it. But I think this is
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: a great pick. The only thing I don't like about
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: it is it makes me miss opening day Tops products
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: because they got the wonderful logo up there and it
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: was just such a fun product. Give me my MASCOTSK
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: and I got twenty dollars boxing cards, but otherwise good,
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: good call.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Yes, okay, Well, let's move over to the NL for
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: our rookie of the month there and it is the
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Mets infielder Luis on Helicunya. Fantastic start to his season
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: in twenty twenty five with a two to eighty eight
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: average across seventy nine plate appearances, no homers, but seven
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: stolen bases, thirteen runs, three RBI and as we saw
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: with Pete Alonzo, the Mets are off to hot starts.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: So honestly, there weren't too many great picks in the
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: NL either, with Matt Shaw floundering and getting sent down,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: Rookie Sasaki not being everything cracked up to be, so
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: on Helicunya in the driver's seat probably for an our
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Rookie of the year right now, what car are you
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: picking to put into the PC for Luis on Helicunya.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: Well, I had to bring the average cost of my
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: cards down, so I'm going with a three hundred and
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: fifty dollars cards this time around. It's probably one of
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: the cheapest ones I've had of the p SEA. Tonight,
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: I'm going with one of my favorite sets the TOPS does,
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: and that's Inception. This is Bowman Inception rather than Tops Inception,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: but twenty twenty three Bowman Inception Dual Audi patch out
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: of twenty five. It's an orange parallel the dual patch
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: both have a three different colors in the patches in
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: each patch. Wonderful, wonderful patches and actually a pretty nice
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: signature on card auto Unfortunately, player warn memorabilia not game
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: worn memorabilia here, But I guess what can you expect
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: from a card from a guy will come up with
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: the Miners. I get it's in a Texas Jersey, so
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: it doesn't quite have the right ring for what I
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: was talking about the rookie here on the Mets, but
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: it was just too beautiful card to pass up.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Yes, I think this is a great choice, and I
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: got around your problem with the Rangers uniform that you
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: ran into the same issue with. Honestly, I don't pick
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: too many unlicensed products. This might be like the first.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: I haven't done much of this.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think this might be my first unlicensed
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: product in the PC. I'm going to twenty twenty leaf
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: flash that Luisa on Helicunya Rookie Auto of ten orange sparkle,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: so it is a blue uniform that's been all the
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Rangers logos are photoshopped off. The orange sparkle almost makes
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: the red red orange, and you can convince yourself that
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: this is a Mets rookie auto for Luisan Helaicunya. This
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: is one hundred dollar card if you actually just want
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: the base version of this, I think I found it
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: for like twenty bucks. It's a pretty affordable set. And
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: I love Leaf Flash because they're actually cards where the
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: pictures never do them justice. They look fantastic in person.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: If you're looking for cheap autos to add to your
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: PC out there, of any of your prospects, you can't
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: go wrong with Leef Flash.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: No, I agree. They're always always accessible. And I'm I'm
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: just I'm proud of you. Five of your six cards
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: today were not Tops releases. Tops now, I'm shifting what
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: that's up? You picked your Tops big head variational judge,
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: but then you went Bowman BBM Leaf even when Tops Now,
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: I mean, look at you. I'm just so proud.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: We can all grow with I'm evidence of this.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: I don't think that is much better. I just split
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: mine between Tops and Bowman and just went straight down
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: the middle and spent five branded card.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: But that's okay, Yeah, it's all right. Sometimes we can
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: also only ever be ourselves, Jeremy.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: I do still have my was my Minor League Puppies
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: cards from back in one of our PCs. So there's
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: a wide variety in our PC at this point.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: So yes, fantastic. And so if you do want to
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: see those PC picks, check out the show notes. We've
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: got the link to all the PC picks that we've
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: had over the years, so we're well over one hundred
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: and thirty cards. Now you can see what we've kind
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: of alluded to, just kind of a little fun thing
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: to follow along. I would suggest trying to like collect
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: them all, but there's a couple of like six digit
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: cards in there, so I mean, I guess that's in
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: your budget. Go for it, and you.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: Love us that much, but if you and if you do,
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: we have merch for you.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, Yeah, maybe you can throw a few of
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: those bones at the merch into the link in the
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: show notes. You can buy t shirts, smugs. None of
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: them will cost you six figures unless you want me
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: to make a six figure one for you and you
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: can help us retire it. That would be fantastic. Also,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: make sure to go to rasball dot com to check
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: out the notes for this show and see the pictures
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: of the cards that we discussed, and also sign up
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: for a rasball subscription. The Streaminator and the hitter Tron
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: have been absolutely on fire recently. I've been using them
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: to stream and make up ground and lots of my
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: daily leagues. I think if you're a dance daily fancy
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: player like I don't know if you can find a
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: better tool than the Streaminator from rasball dot com well
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: worth the subscription price, Drew. Let everybody know where they
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: can find you on socials and read your work.
