- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. So if I sound a little wonky,
- 0:30it's because I've attracted or contracted, I think is the right
- 0:34way to say it. I've contracted what my son has
- 0:36and not as bad. I don't have strep throat and I
- 0:40don't have bronchitis, but I definitely have the cold or the
- 0:43funk. So we're just going to call it
- 0:45the travel funk is stuck to me. There you go, Rufus.
- 0:48I have the travel funk that's stuck to me.
- 0:51So I apologize for the coughing, but anyway, so good lessons from
- 0:57this yesterday because one, my scout calendar is always pick
- 1:02just filled to the brim. My schedules are are busy and I
- 1:06worked. Of course I worked because I I
- 1:09felt like good enough to work. I felt fine to work.
- 1:12I was just very stuffy and whatnot.
- 1:14And it was interesting how I observed something.
- 1:18So my body was on point, like I was totally fine all day long.
- 1:22And as soon as I got to the afternoon, all of a sudden my,
- 1:27my body went like, I'm talking like afternoon, like 5:00.
- 1:31So when I finished my last session, it was like my body
- 1:35knew that that was the done part for the day.
- 1:38And it shut down. And I looked at my family and I
- 1:43said, I'm going to bed. And they were like, well, it's
- 1:465:45 and I was like, I'm going to bed.
- 1:49And I went in and I slept until this morning.
- 1:53Like I slept 1314 hours, something like that. 13 hours I
- 1:58think I slept and I was just exhausted physically but hadn't
- 2:04really paid attention to it because my, my, my body was so
- 2:09conditioned to work. And that's what happens.
- 2:13But again, not a bad thing. I'm not complaining about that.
- 2:16What I'm saying is it was an observation of saying sometimes
- 2:19you just need to sleep that amount of time.
- 2:22And I thought this is interesting because when I came
- 2:24home from the trip and I got off the red red eye, I also went to
- 2:27bed and slept for 13 hours. And I was like, wow, these are
- 2:31big long sleeps that never happened in my like I'm a 7 hour
- 2:35a night girl. So I was like, OK, my body's
- 2:38talking to me and it's my job to pay attention to it.
- 2:41I have to listen. I have to, to to comprehend that
- 2:45it's telling me that I need to take the breaks.
- 2:49So even this morning coming out and getting the chickens open
- 2:53and doing things, my afternoon chores, which I would normally
- 2:56do late in the day while and not care if it was too hot or what
- 3:01not. I'm doing them in the morning
- 3:03because I'm like, OK, And you can probably hear the water
- 3:06going off in the background because I'm watering the plants
- 3:09at the chicken poop while I'm out here now so that I don't
- 3:12have to do it later when it's too hot and my body is out of
- 3:16whack to do it. Because I'm anticipating that
- 3:19I'm going to be tired again based on the fact that it's
- 3:22trying to heal. I'm also, you know, taking care
- 3:25of it by filling up with electrolytes and all kinds of
- 3:28other good things. But it's just this whole idea of
- 3:31being generally observant. And it's not about powering
- 3:34through because my son said to me, well, you didn't have to
- 3:36power through it. You could have gone to bed.
- 3:38And he's right. I could have changed my
- 3:40schedule, but I didn't feel bad enough to change my schedule.
- 3:43And I didn't feel, my question is always, is this going to
- 3:46affect my clients? Is this going to affect my
- 3:49outcome of my clients? And I did not feel like that was
- 3:51the case. I felt like I had to sit so I
- 3:54could not do the normal thing that I would do, which is
- 3:57essentially walk while I'm talking, but I could still peak
- 4:02perform psychologically and strategically for them.
- 4:06So that's what I did. And in the meantime, I sat my
- 4:09butt down and I rested. And like, that's exactly what
- 4:12I'm doing now. I'm just taking it easier this
- 4:15morning so that I don't have to stress my body out.
- 4:19And these are general observations about what's going
- 4:21to make me be able to do this better, even better than I had
- 4:25done it. So I'm encouraging you, if you
- 4:28have these things that are showing up, pay attention to
- 4:31them. If you need to go to bed and
- 4:32sleep so that you can be better for the rest of the week, do it.
- 4:36I mean, again, this is back to a self-care conversation that
- 4:39we've been talking about. But you have to pay attention to
- 4:42it because the truth is, if you don't pay attention to yourself
- 4:46care, no one else will. They will take advantage of you
- 4:50and keep using you up and using you up and using you up because
- 4:53that's what we, we as people do. We'll say, Oh, well, if she, he
- 4:56or he has given, then I'm going to do that.
- 4:59I'm going to take. It's just the nature of if this
- 5:02person is giving me things, I'm going to be taking things.
- 5:06Is there anything wrong with it? I mean, there's only something
- 5:09wrong with it. If it bothers you, If you like
- 5:11that, then that's great. And if you don't like that, then
- 5:13we have to do something about it.
- 5:15So point being, you have to pay attention to what your body's
- 5:19telling you. Listen.
- 5:20And I'm going to be doing that over the next couple days so
- 5:23that I can recover and be completely strong again and get
- 5:26rid of this weird throat thing. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:30you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:32Bye.
