It's stupid up. Welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition. This st
0:19
real No Show Episomber seven hundred and seven for August thirty first, two thousand
0:24
and forty three. Welcome to your eight of you all in TIVI do We
0:28
Payback and a w all out edition of s R to you. I am
0:36
one a the show. I am Jeff Peck joined every single week in.
0:39
My goal is one only Dctor Trey Franklin, Doctor Trey. Labor Day is
0:43
nothing short of no wrestling, my friend. Yeah, you know, for
0:47
labor I'm like, yeah, you know, maybe we should take it easy,
0:50
relax, appreciate how hard you and I have worked all year, how
0:53
hard our families have worked all year. And then you look over the over
0:57
your shoulder at professional wrestling, You're like, oh, those are just working
1:00
their tails off this week. So yeah, I gotta give those guys for
1:04
everything they got going on and what they just went through and everything else.
1:07
So all mad respect and admiration to the world of professional wrestling for what they
1:12
got coming up of the last ten days. So we will recap, review,
1:18
aw all in, we will preview, predict, WWE back, Payback,
1:21
and aw all Out All on this week's edition the show. So we
1:26
got a lot to discuss, so let's dig right into a dot trend.
1:29
Start with aw all in this past Sunday from Wembley Stadium in London, England.
1:34
The first match on the card was MJF and Adam Cole defeating Assie Open
1:38
to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship ID MJFF and Adam Cole dot trade
1:41
Assie Open fun way to kick off the show. The kangaroo kick and double
1:45
clothesline were extremely over surprise, there was nothing big in this match to set
1:49
up for the main event later that night. I was happy for Aussie Open
1:53
to get the spot as they are a great tag team. We have new
1:55
ROH Tag Team champions Doctor Trey. Yeah, so I'm with you. It
2:01
was a solid match and assiep we got a nice you know the rub so
2:07
to speak. But once again, like it didn't really set up the main
2:12
event later in the show. So it's like all right, and then now
2:15
you're gonna have the complication of what do you have the Ring of Honor tag
2:19
team tiles because are you gonna make MJF and Adam Cole go get on a
2:22
ring of honor television to defend those belts like it's kind of confusing, so
2:25
but solid match entertaining, you know, and Aussie Open gets a nice little
2:31
rub. This next match is going to lead to a lot of discussion the
2:36
sandwiched match, I would say, as Hook defeats Jack Perry to win the
2:39
FTW Championship, we did not predict this match, as we did not know
2:43
this match is going to occur when we recorded last week's edition the show.
2:46
These are the notes that I wrote literally after the match was over. I
2:51
was surprised that Hook won this match because I thought another victory for Jack Perry
2:53
would have helped to continue growing a new heel persona. But I suppose they
2:57
wanted to wrap up this feud. I did love of the real glass shout
3:00
out by Jack Perry during the match, alluding to the report about him wanting
3:05
to use real glass on a collision and Seampunk not allowing it several weeks ago.
3:09
There's lots of discuss what happened postmatch here, Doctor Trey, but let's
3:14
talk about this match itself here. As Hook defeats Jack Perry, Are you
3:19
on the Hook bandwagon? I never really have been. I gotta be honest,
3:24
I don't understand it. I like the kid, but I don't really
3:29
understand the hype. Yeah, and that's that's kind of where I'm at.
3:32
Like, I like Hook. I think down the road he can be a
3:38
really good wrestler. He is just severely undersized right now. Anyway, anyway,
3:43
you're wrestling Jack Perry, and Jack Perry looks like the bigger wrestler.
3:46
You know, you're undersized, So there are there are certain things that pop
3:51
up, and I'm like, that doesn't make a ton of sense. But
3:53
you know, like you said, they gotta kind of move on from this
3:57
feud if they're setting up Jack Perry for something else. Yeah, the title
4:00
really, in the minds of most people doesn't really mean anything. So giving
4:03
it back to Hook, I just it's more legacy in tradition than anything else.
4:09
So kind of wanted it more. If you're gonna have Jack Perry losing
4:14
this situation, maybe a little more of a sloppier win, if that makes
4:16
sense, Like not clean, but you know, it is what it is,
4:20
and now these guys can move on to something else. So let's talk
4:25
about what happened in between here. Doctor Trey because during all In, very
4:30
early on, as I believe the Cmpunk Samoa Joe match was taking place,
4:34
which will obviously break down here, momentarily, reports were circulating that there was
4:40
some sort of altercation between Jack Perry and Cmpunk. We've talked about the Jack
4:45
Perry Cmpunk class spot on previous episodes. At this point, I'm gonna imagine
4:49
all wrestling fans that are listening to this podcast know what this is all about
4:54
and what happened with the glass spot. I don't need to reopen that story
4:59
and recor hated for the one million time. I would assume that most people
5:02
know what happened between Punk and Jack Perry backstage at all out all in,
5:09
excuse me your thoughts here, Doctor Trey. Here we are again, where
5:15
weeks after the Hangman page shout out, post collision, Seampunk is in a
5:21
world of controversy again. There is still, as you and I record this
5:26
episode, there's still no clear cut explanation as to what happened. There's reports
5:31
that Jack Perry approached Punk, There's reports that Punk approached Jack Perry. What
5:38
we do know is that an altercation between the two happened. Jack Perry was
5:41
sent home Seampunk was sent home. We're recording this during Dynamite on Wednesday night,
5:46
so we believe that both have been suspended. How do you appeal this
5:49
apart because once again Seampunk is in the crossairs of a controversy and all Elite
5:54
wrestling. It's it's tricky because you hear for reports about different things, so
6:01
you don't really know where the truth lies leading into this because you know,
6:05
last week we get heard that Jack Perry didn't get approval from Tony Kahn or
6:12
Hupper Management to do the glass spot and you know, and Punk vetoed it
6:17
it is what is. But then this week you hear pos going no,
6:20
he got approval and then' punk shot it down. So it's just for like
6:26
on paper, when I look at it, they're both wrong. They're both
6:30
they're both idiots. For one, if you're Jack Perry and you know you
6:32
kind of piss Punk off and you're going to shout out real glass on the
6:40
biggest pay per view in company history, you don't think that might piss the
6:44
guy off? And if it does, I mean, are you just basically
6:46
saying you don't care? And then the flip side is if you're seeing pull
6:49
you're supposed to be the leader in the face of the company and you're getting
6:54
into altercations with the twenty two year old. It comes off like you're the
6:56
gruppy old man yelling at clouds in your front yard. So I think they're
7:00
both idiots for this to happen. And once again, if there was any
7:04
decent leadership in this company, it would have been squashed really quickly and not
7:10
allowed to linger like this Like every other In every other incident in AW has
7:15
had over the past three years, it's never nipping in the butt, it's
7:19
well, it's just whatever. Whatever. We basically get to a breaking point,
7:21
then we'll stop it. Added on to all of this, I guess
7:26
travel for a good portion of the roster into London was a logistical nightmare.
7:31
I guess typically when organizations like WWI and New Japan send folks on international tours,
7:38
the logistics on the travel side is a little bit more tightened up.
7:41
People were kind of left to their own ways to get into London. One
7:46
B and CM Punky literally took the train. Phone numbers weren't working whatever,
7:51
and then you're hearing reports that he had a screaming match with Tony Kahn prior
7:58
to All In. I don't know if it was before the Jack Perry stuff,
8:01
after the Jack Perry stuff. It's all over this place on there,
8:05
but it appears that there is friction in their relationship as well to me on
8:11
the outside looking in and not knowing what's going on, which is a very
8:15
dangerous thing to say. But you read the stuff on the dirt sheets,
8:18
you read what's going on, and obviously sometimes there is a narrative that's being
8:24
painted, whether it be on the CM Punk side or the anti cm Punk
8:26
side. But what I'll just say, from my perspective as a fan,
8:30
it just feels like cmpunk does not want to be an all elite wrestling.
8:35
I guess there are some quotes out there that said, I hate this place.
8:39
He threatened to quit. Aw I don't know. I mean they survived
8:46
brawl Out, They've survived stuff post brawl out where with a steel What was
8:52
going on with him, whether Punk was coming back or not, he wasn't.
8:54
In a promotional material for the original launch of Collision, the Hangman page
8:58
com Men's post Collision, the stories of the Jack Perry and then the stuff
9:03
at all In before the match, it just feels like the guy doesn't want
9:09
to be there anymore, Doctor Trey, Is that the vibe you get wrong?
9:13
Am I looking too into this? I don't know so much. If
9:20
it's he doesn't want to be there, he just wants it done a certain
9:24
way, well say, you know, it's call it being older, stubborn,
9:31
you know, not really wanting to change, but whatever you want to
9:35
call it. Like, he just thinks professional wrestling should be done a certain
9:39
way. And we've seen that from other guys of his generation, whether it's
9:46
you know, Brian Danielson has bucked up at times against people Leo FTR,
9:50
like you know, even Samoa Joe, Like a lot of these Ring of
9:54
Honor guys from that late nineties, early two thousands era, you know,
10:00
twenty years in. They just think wrestling should be done a certain way.
10:01
And the people that they're running into are a lot of these super indie kids
10:07
who basically have had their own way since they kind of broke into the business.
10:11
So it is kind of you know, butting heads so speaking. You
10:18
know, like once again, if you're if you're setting up travel for the
10:20
biggest event and company history, don't you want to make sure your top guys
10:24
are getting there and getting taken care of like that. That to me makes
10:30
sense, you know. And you know, if you've got some kid purposely
10:33
trying to throw you under the bus on TV, yeah, that would piss
10:37
you off too. And the way the old school stuff handled it, you
10:39
went backstage and you kind of had it out. That's the way it was
10:43
done in wrestling from the early days all the way up through you know,
10:48
basically twenty ten. You know, maybe like when Taker went part time is
10:54
kind of when things shifted in how the backstage stuff was handled. But yeah,
11:00
I don't I don't think it's so much he doesn't want to be there.
11:01
He just wants to see his company rone proper way, and you know,
11:07
and proper way in his mind as well. But when it doesn't get
11:11
there, it's gonna piss him off. And we've seen him get pissed off.
11:13
I mean, I don't really think Abody's surprised when he's pissed off.
11:16
He's been pissed off for twenty some odd years. That's why he's so good
11:20
at what he does, is because he wears his chips on his shoulders proudly.
11:26
I mean, I've heard stories about him all the way back to I
11:28
Toba, Mid South getting pissed off about stuff, whether it's that, whether
11:31
it was Ring of bonnor where it was his short time and Impact Wrestling being
11:35
part of Raven's flock w w E. That's just who he is. And
11:39
you take the good, you take the bad, and there you have to
11:43
fax it up. So there you go. Two things here and then we
11:46
got to continue on here with the show. So one being in regards to
11:50
the situation and Doctor Trey you said it as well. Jack Perry doesn't say
11:54
what he said in the pre show, then this is not an incident.
11:56
We don't have this to talk about. And I know everybod he's pointing the
12:00
finger blame Like here we are another event where we're talking about cmpunk, But
12:05
this was not an instigated cm punk situation like the brawl out was where you
12:11
know he's sitting post show and the media scrum taking shots at the EVPs.
12:16
Jack Perry does this shot at cmpunk basically and anybody else he was detracting him
12:22
using real glass and then the situation happens if he doesn't say that we're not
12:26
talking about this. And then the second thing where doctor Trey said that CM
12:31
Punk sees wrestling in a specific way. Punk reminds me, and I think
12:37
a percentage of our audience is going to understand this. But usually the greats
12:43
in anything that they do have a bit of dickish in them. Michael Jordan,
12:50
Kobe Bryant immediately come to mind. Those guys were grade A assholes to
12:56
their teammates. Their teammates will tell you that the reason why they were great
13:00
A assholes is because they wanted the best for the team and the promotion for
13:05
the franchise, to win a championship. They wanted to be the best.
13:11
They felt they were the best. They were the best, and to bring
13:15
other people up to their level, they needed to make them work and earn
13:20
it the same way that they did. See him. Punk reminds me a
13:22
lot of that same attitude. He's one of the best. He's one of
13:26
the greats, and you kind of have to follow him. You've seen it
13:28
in like football right now with guys like Aaron Rodgers, like those guys have
13:33
huge egos. They know what it takes to be successful. They've reached the
13:37
top of the mountain and they're seeing their way because they've been successful and that's
13:41
what Punk's doing right now, and that doesn't work for everybody. And it
13:46
just reminds me a lot of the greats. It reminds me of the Michael
13:50
Jordan's and Kobe Bryants of the world, the people who they were great a
13:52
assholes, but man, they were some of the greatest of all time.
13:56
And that's how I think I look at see him Punk here and this situation.
14:00
He wants the best for aw and there's folks that don't necessarily agree with
14:03
what his exact same vision, and that causes conflict in friction, and that's
14:09
what we saw behind the scenes. It all out with that set. I
14:13
guess in the regards to this altercation, Punk was threatening to quit. There
14:16
was nearly a swap of the six man tag team match that followed this Punk
14:22
Joe match to go on first. I guess this match had potential for being
14:26
canceled. Samojoe reportedly convinced Shampunk to go out there, and that's what got
14:31
us to our opener on the main card, as CM Punk defeats Samojoe to
14:35
retain the Real World Championship. We both had Shimpunk winning this match solid opener.
14:41
It felt like Punk and Joe we having a lot of fun, which
14:43
resonated through the television screen, lots of tributes, subtly funny spots and solid
14:48
in ring work as Punk and Joe rewound the clock back. Loved the call
14:52
back to the Pepsi plum finisher putting away Samoa Joe, a move Punk hasn't
14:56
really used since his ROH days when he feuded with Samoa Joe, Doctor Trey,
15:00
your thoughts here see him Punk defeats Joe. Yeah, It's it's crazy
15:03
when you watch this match and you see how much fun those guys were having
15:09
once they got the match going. I mean you can see your Punk was
15:11
pissed off, you can see on his face coming out to the ring,
15:13
you know, and and Joe and but once the match guy going, and
15:18
it just felt like a throwback to those Ring of Honor days. I have
15:22
not seen the Pepsi Plunge done ever, because everything I've ever seen a see
15:28
Hi Punk was always like a DVD from like five, ten, fifteen years
15:33
earlier. So the Sassi see is the Pepsi Plunge use live. I was
15:37
kind of like taking it back by it. I was like, that's a
15:39
great throwback great Olmos in those Ring of Honor days because both guys were going
15:43
for their finishers and couldn't hit it and then all of a sudden, boom
15:46
PEPSI plunge out of nowhere. So really fun matchically, great way to kick
15:50
off the show. I think he used it maybe once or twice in WW,
15:52
but was very few and far between, and just say it for special
15:56
moments. It was very very cool to see him do that and put it
15:58
out there on that opener. Next matchris can also get to Keshka, J
16:03
White and Juice Robinson defeating the Golden Elite of Koda Bushy, Kenny Omega and
16:06
Hangman out of Page in a six man tag team match with both at the
16:08
Golden Elite winning. Really good six man tag match flowed really well into Keshka
16:12
getting to pin on Kenny makes sense given their feud and match at All Out
16:17
this week. Doctor Tredy thoughts in the sixth Man Yeah, I actually I
16:21
really enjoyed this match as well, because you know, Bullet Club Gold needed
16:25
this win. You know they had They've had some great matches, but they
16:29
haven't been coming out on top. And if you're trying to push ta Keshka
16:33
up to Kenny Omega level. He needs it as well, and really fun.
16:37
Now the roll up a little bit off, a little bit weird,
16:41
but outside that, the guns getting involved everything else, Like I was like,
16:45
man, this is this is a great little match because it's good storytelling
16:48
and this leads to Omega to Keshka. This leads to you know, if
16:53
you do Hangman and you know, however way you want to do this going
16:57
forward with the Bullet Club Gold. I mean it was a great little bit,
17:00
great storytelling, and I love that they also started calling I missed this
17:03
maybe earlier on with Don Kus calling him Uncle Don and then you know,
17:08
basically him coming out and basically saying like look, I'm hiring people to take
17:11
out Kenny Omega and Bullet Clock Gold like the money and boom, there we
17:15
go and you'll see it, you know as it plays out, you know
17:18
going forward as well, Like I'd like that he has the family, but
17:22
he has no issue mingling in and storytelling like hey, if I don't want
17:26
but the family taking out Omega, I get something else to do it.
17:27
So just really good storytelling leading in for the match for at All Outs.
17:33
Next match here it was FTR feeing the Young Bucks to retain the aw World
17:36
Tag Team Championship. We both have the Young Bucks getting the victory. All
17:37
around, great match, great chemistry between both teams, love the tributes,
17:41
love the kickouts to each team's finisher, and the finish of the match was
17:45
really well executed. Fantastic performance by two of the greatest tag teams of this
17:48
generation. Doctor Trey FTR retains that finishes amazing. I have never seen the
17:53
springboard into the Shadow Machine like that was great. Well yeah, like real
18:00
it's not their best match, but it's right up there. It was a
18:03
really really the ambo tag team match really kind of blown up. I don't
18:07
know about you. I was kind of shocked when you look at those back
18:10
to back matches that Omega, Page and the Bucks all came out of all
18:14
end with losses, so that was a little surprising as well. And Punk
18:18
and FTR both had wins. So there you go. By the way,
18:22
Uh, I know I know that you've mentioned this. I think they call
18:23
themselves CMFTR. I found out where I kind of know where that comes from,
18:29
now, uh CM Punk and FTR. Yeah, but the cmft uh
18:33
the lead singer of slip not as Corey Taylor and he refers himself as cmft
18:40
Corey mfing Taylor. So okay, both those you know FTR and CM punk
18:45
I actually slipping not fans. So they kind of took that homage to him
18:49
and then put the R on the end and it works for the team.
18:52
Oh wow, I know that. Very very cool, very cool. Well
18:56
there you are. The more you know, dude, dude, this is
19:00
your brand on drugs. Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassie, Chuck Taylor, Trempurta
19:04
and Penta El Sera Mieto defeat Santana Ortiz, Moxley, Claudio and Wheeler Uta
19:10
in a stadium stampede match. We had Blackpool Combat Club and Pride and Powerful
19:15
winning this match. An excellent, entertaining and violent match. The depths all
19:18
these guys went to entertain and delivered was amazing. Wild moments that will live
19:22
on forever, like John Moxley having these skewers coming out of his head,
19:25
Orange Cassie breaking up glass to put on his duct tape fist, and John
19:27
Max Moxley having a large piece of skin dangling from his eyebrow post match.
19:33
Unbelievable job by all Doctor Trey, your thoughts on the stadium Stampede like it
19:40
was fun best friends, Eddie Kingson kinds win by the way. I understand
19:45
when guys want to get their names out there, but how many times I
19:48
have to hear Mike Santana during that match. They're like, Okay, we
19:49
get it, He's Mike, just call him Mike. Yeah, but really
19:55
really fun match, Like, I get those guys a ton of credits.
19:59
My note on it was the The very first thing was, Damn, Cizarro
20:02
looks like a skinny corporate cane, Like just the way he looked at how
20:06
clean cut, like, he didn't have the stubble on his head like he
20:11
normally does. It was super clean. I'm like, and the black pants
20:14
and the black goves just reminded me of corporate cane a little bit. The
20:18
skewer spot was amazing, the ladder spot, the ladder collapsing and then still
20:23
making it work with the sunset flip power bomb, the tables, kudos and
20:27
those guys, and then the homage to oh the John Claude Van Damn movie
20:33
where they actually dipped the fists in the resin and the glass with you know
20:41
that's kind of where that came from. I've seen it done with Peanut Brittle
20:44
in the match actually at once, which I thought was funny. But yeah,
20:48
like that was kind of the homage of that, but it worked and
20:49
it made a lot of sense. And then it's gonna be interesting what they
20:53
do with this with Kingston and Moxley, Like, are they gonna actually make
20:56
those guys few because it's an awkward, weird love try and goal between Kingston,
21:00
Claudio and Moxley right now? And then are we gonna get Moxley and
21:04
Darby straight up coming out of this as well? Because that seemed to be
21:08
a focal point in the match. So want to get a good storytelling,
21:11
good result because it helps best friends and Eddie Kingston. And then kind of
21:15
you can filter office going into all out or Dynamite Collision, whichever show you
21:21
end up on. Next match, there is some all out fallout that we
21:26
will discuss here in a little bit as well. Next match of Saray defeating
21:30
Hit Carlos sheet a, Tony Storm Dctor Brit Baker in a four way match
21:33
to win the aw Women's World Championship. I had doctor Burt Baker, doctor
21:36
Trey at Sreya a good match finished, was unexpected but was great. Very
21:40
happy for Saray to have this moment in her home country after what she has
21:42
been through the last five plus years, Doctor Trey, you call it,
21:45
says the new Champ. Yeah, I just thought, you know, name
21:48
value helps aw because it's one of the things we had talked about for a
21:52
while, like, yeah, they've been pushing all their homegrown guys for a
21:55
while and then now's a chance to kind of get back into you know,
22:00
some of your upper tier name card people getting titled belts plus in England.
22:03
To have Sirea get this way on her in her home country with her family
22:07
there and everything else, I just thought it was really beautiful. Match was
22:11
Okay, I don't think it was great. It was quick. It was
22:15
a little too quick for my liking. Yeah, and I'm like with a
22:18
four way, it's hard to do a quick match because then you're like,
22:19
wait, wait, wait, shouldn't lebody it broke that up. So but
22:22
overall, like, I'm just super happy for Sirea, like with everything she's
22:26
done. You know, I mentioned on the bray Wire show, watching that
22:30
the FCW stuff and then seeing you know Page when she was like eighteen nineteen
22:37
years old being the face of NXT, then later the Deeva's Division to now
22:41
being the face of AWS with a division with that you know spot in the
22:48
middle where we thought she'd never be in a ring again. Like it's just,
22:51
you know, the comebacks we have seen or the last five seven years
22:56
people that we never thought we'd see in a ring again is just incredible.
22:59
And they've all shined in their comeback spots, so just shows the talent never
23:04
dies. Next match is Darby, Allen and Sting defending sort of Strickling and
23:10
Christian Cage in a tag team coffin match. We had Darby and Allen Sting
23:12
getting the victory. Fun tag team coffin match with some six spots. Every
23:17
time Darby Allen does a wild spot throwing caution and his body to the win,
23:21
I cringe a little bit because he can tolerate so much pain. Doctor
23:25
Trey Darby and Sting win. I was happy that look, I know aar
23:30
Fox, I like aar Fox. But kidding Christian Cage in this match,
23:34
if this is stings last match we talked about a few weeks ago, at
23:38
least Christian Cage is involved and gives a little more credibility, but just really
23:42
fun match. Sting does not lose. Uh Sting is Aws brock Lessner for
23:48
that five seven year run or Undertaker Now it's just he doesn't lose. But
23:52
it's a good way to kind of elevate swerve again, you know with that
23:56
as well. So I just really I enjoyed it. Here's a solid match
24:00
given the situations. Yeah, I would have loved to see our Aar Fox
24:04
get this opportunity. I guess there's some potential international stuff with him that you
24:11
know, there's some troubles there that nobody's really talked about, But yeah,
24:15
I would have loved to seen R Fox get in there. Next match,
24:19
here is will Osprey freeing Chris Jericho. We both had will Osbrey solid match,
24:23
had a ton of energy behind it and had a fast paced feel to
24:26
it. Jericho shows he could still keep up with the best of them today
24:30
and it was a huge victory for the rising career of will Osbrey. It
24:33
feels like we are are a year or two away from this Osprey being the
24:36
best wrestlerant on the planet. Discussion taking place if he's not there already.
24:41
I can't get enough of watching will Osbrey and again Chris Jericho, like he
24:45
kept up with him for his quote age. Jericho is still fucking phenomenal.
24:52
Will Osprey gets to go in Yeah, and it's you know, we talked
24:56
about it in the last week's show, like we both felt Ospres didn't get
24:59
the WA But you know, I love to see Jerker get a win every
25:02
so often because it's just just you know, the guy is just an incredible
25:07
person, Like he can still keep up the will Osprey. He can go
25:10
power within power and tougher than any case. And don't forget this is the
25:12
guy that wrestled Nick Gage, you know, two years ago and one of
25:17
the blood of your matches what we've seen, Like, the guy can do
25:19
everything you need to do. So he's still at this age in his career,
25:26
he's still the best soldier in any company when it comes to helping younger
25:30
talent get over. He's argued with the best there's ever been at that role
25:33
explicitly and still getting himself over in the process as well. So you know,
25:38
the younger guys and the independence who hate losing because they think it damaged
25:41
them. Jericho hasn't won a really want a paper for your match in a
25:45
while. I think he's won one out of his last like eight. And
25:48
guess what, Chris Jericho is still over and doesn't really care about wins and
25:52
losses. Next match here is he claimed to Billy Gunn defending House of Black
25:56
to win the aw World Trios Championship. We did not predict this match as
25:59
it was not announced when we recorded last week. Match was okay. I
26:02
wonder if Brodie King hitting Malachi with the chain and also taking the pen leads
26:06
to anything moving forward. Billy gun kicking out of the end finisher, I'd
26:08
be one of the one of the those closest kickouts I've ever seen. This
26:12
was a good feud heading into the show. I just wish they had a
26:15
little more time because it felt like we had seen the style of match play
26:18
out several times during the show. It was very reminiscent of the Coffin match
26:22
and very reminiscent of the sixth Man attack from earlier in the night. It
26:26
was not my favorite match on the card, as the Acclaim and Billy Gunn
26:30
become a new AW World Trio's champs. My favorite thing was this match was
26:34
the House of Black's entrance. That was great. After that, I mean,
26:38
like I thought Billy I thought they did the retirements about Billy Gunn and
26:42
then Billy Gunn's out there. I'm like, Okay, I might have missed
26:45
the show where they say he was coming back. But once again, they
26:48
had this feud going for a while and then nothing and then oh, by
26:53
the way, the six man Tiles on the line just announced it. Announced
26:59
it on Collision, announcing on Dynamite. At least put something behind it,
27:03
you know. To have a title match be un announced and just thrown together
27:07
with two teams that had been feuding, I mean, it's an easy tie
27:10
into it. So it's just because of those things. It was just kind
27:14
of but I mean I'm happy for I mean, Billy Gunn's what fifty five
27:18
fifty eight years old and a champion again. Yeah, he looks phenomenal in
27:22
the ring. I have said before him, Jarrett Jericho, those guys have
27:27
not aged a second my man an outside of Sting's hairline sing. Yeah,
27:33
yeah, he really hasn't either, so you know, and now I'm just
27:37
kind of waiting until eat. Like now I got to get a four way
27:38
with Billy Gunn Jarrett staying in Jericho, like four guys or the each of
27:45
fifty just throwing in a four way of match, and I'll be happy because
27:48
it's like the It's like the fight at the Senior Sistan's Center. I love
27:51
those fights. It's amazing what happened. Like twenty five years ago, Macho
27:56
Man, Rick Flair and Hogan were being ramped the coals for being quote old,
28:00
and they were like in their early to mid forties at that point.
28:04
We've named four guys that are in their fifties, one in their sixties,
28:10
and they still look like they did twenty five years ago. It's amazing what
28:15
things how things can change, and you don't even bat an eye out it
28:18
because they could still perform at their highest level and do an amazing job.
28:22
So props all around to the vets in aw. By the way, two
28:26
of those guys that were running Hogan Flair Matra through the coals were in that
28:29
match. Yees. Jericho was one of those guys and jar was one of
28:33
those guys. Yep. They were yep. And then finally the main event
28:38
is MJF defeats Adam Cole to retain the AW World Championship. We both had
28:42
MJFKT in the victory. Really good match. Love the storytelling throughout the match.
28:47
We played off of their feud very well. It was a great way
28:49
to close off the show and send the fans home happy during historic night for
28:53
AW. I really enjoyed this match Doctor Trey MJF defeating Adam Cole. I
29:00
really enjoyed the matchup for the wrestling aspect of it, I still don know
29:06
where the story is going, Like I like it did MJFF. Is MJF
29:10
a legit baby face or not? Like it just feels awkward that both those
29:15
guys are tremendous heels and we're not getting they're both playing baby face in a
29:19
rivalry. So I'm just waiting for the others you to drop. But yeah,
29:23
the match itself was fantastic. MJFF getting the win in the main event
29:29
in front of eighty two thousand people. That has help, that will help
29:34
him with his title run legacy right now, because you and I have both
29:37
said like it. For as much high hopes we had, it's felt a
29:41
little lack luster. You get a win in the main event in front of
29:45
Wembley stateum in front of those that people. It kind of does help elevate
29:48
the title because it as Jeff the title. The world title in ANYW has
29:52
kind of felt as a as a secondary story for the better part of the
29:56
last two years, like they just don't feature it enough, and when they
30:00
do feature it's in the middle of the show. So to have it be
30:03
the main event two guys fighting over it with mutual respect is a good way
30:07
to elevate the title back up to what it should be. So overall,
30:11
like it was, it was a damn fine main event to kind of close
30:15
out the show. I saw a lot of people mentioned this online and it
30:18
got me thinking, and I believe it to be true as well. Maybe
30:22
the hardcore AW fans won't like to hear this, but the feeling is this
30:25
MJF Adam Cole feud and this match that we saw at all in is like
30:30
their answer to the way that W is booking stuff right now, where it's
30:33
a little bit more personal, a little bit more cinematic in a way and
30:37
has a reason and a purpose and good in ring work as well. And
30:41
I have to agree with that sentiment is this is reminiscent of a WW.
30:45
We like storyline right now that we're seeing on their television playout in AW again.
30:49
I know wrestling fans won't like to hear that AW fans especially that don't
30:52
like w WE, but it is to me no different than what you see
30:56
with the Bloodline right now. It has a bill, it has a purpose,
31:00
it has an investment, and it's executed very well. And that's a
31:04
good thing. Sometimes ww does know what they're doing. And if AW can
31:10
dabble into what's working for w from for WWE, into their product and it
31:14
pays off to what we saw it all in on Sunday Night, then I'm
31:18
all for you. Do you see the similarities. So some of the stuff
31:21
with the Bloodline that takes place right now, even some of the stuff with
31:23
the Judgment Day where there's these depths to these storylines scor traits like we see
31:27
with m JF and Adam Cole and AW. Yeah, that's what wrestling is
31:30
supposed to be. Wrestling is storytelling with action like that's what it's supposed to
31:37
be. Action for the sake of action is just you know, I can
31:40
go watch a NASCAR race, I can go watch it and F one,
31:42
you know, Formula one race that's just action for the sake of action.
31:45
We don't know the driver's stories or anything else. You know, we talked
31:48
about it on the ray Wire show. That the fact that we know so
31:52
much about these guys that's seeing there from them perform where we have compelling storylines.
31:57
You lose yourself in that moment and you're cool with the match being lack
32:01
luster, or you're cool with the finish stop being what you wanted because the
32:06
storytelling's gut you hooked. When you just have no storytelling in action, that's
32:08
when you're like, Oh, they're burying that guy, or oh that guy
32:12
always goes over. It's just that's what storytelling helps with. And even on
32:15
paper, when you look at let's say the four best rivalries, MJF has
32:21
had an aw or all with x WWE guys because they can form the storyline
32:25
to fit with his talents, whether it's the Jericho stuff, the punk stuff,
32:30
you know, the you know Moxley stuff. Now with Adam Cale,
32:34
he's they're able to bring that out of him because they understand storytelling, to
32:37
understand how to get the fan reaction the way they wanted to go. Where
32:43
when he's feuding with you know Adam Page or some or even the Pillars,
32:47
it feels a little lack of luster. I mean, there's so good matches,
32:51
but there's no depth to them, his best rivalry so far. But
32:53
with guys who know understand, you get the storytelling. So there you go.
32:58
All in is in the books pay per view prediction records. We both
33:02
went five and four coming out of this pay per review. I am seventy
33:05
seven and twenty nine, Trey seventy one and thirty five. Match of the
33:09
night and event rating. I'll start with event rating. I give it a
33:13
four point four. It it's my favorite eight w show the year, and
33:16
I think it's one of the top three or four shows in twenty twenty three
33:21
that I've seen so far. And they really only real blemish to me was
33:27
the Trios Championship match and not enough time for the women's match. Other than
33:32
that, everything was really really good and my match the night was MJF and
33:37
Adam Cole Doctor Trey. What say you? I went four point one.
33:42
I thought it was really really good, maybe not the level of some of
33:46
the w B shows we've grated this year. My imagine I was FTR in
33:51
the bucks just because to me, that's what the USOS the new they do
33:53
Like, no matter what show you put them on, no matter where you
33:55
from the guard, it's a fantastic match. You don't need the storytelling depths
34:01
that you need to kind of help get other matches over and the multiple finishes
34:07
there like in that match I thought were really well done. So MJF and
34:09
M cole are right there with it. But I mean, I just love
34:13
FTR and SO and they let the piss people off, so I'll side with
34:15
them. Hell, one of the guys got arrested last week and they still
34:19
got to put on a hell of a match, so I gave him credit
34:21
for that. Over eighty one thousand Doctor Trey, it is the largest wrestling
34:25
event in sometime. I think there was another one. The only other one
34:30
was like one in North Korea, which I don't think counts because we don't
34:32
consider North Korea to be part of the world. But eighty one thousand people,
34:37
that's pretty damn phenomenal for a company that is four years old. I
34:43
mean, it just hats off to be for what they accomplished this past weekend.
34:46
Yeah, actually, I mean eighty one thousand people. I mean,
34:51
uh, I mean with the like the Dallas WrestleMania's were close, but not
34:57
there Like you put eighty one thousand people in anything, It's fantastic. I
35:04
mean outside of you know, Ohio State Michigan football, there aren't very many
35:07
places that can pack eighty thousand people into any one location, so, you
35:12
know, and that crowd felt it too. That crowd was into it.
35:15
It helped elevate the show even more and just shows that, like you know,
35:20
if when London gets this chance or the UK gets a chance to shine,
35:24
they do really really well. So just an amazing overall show. The
35:29
production was really well. I didn't have I mean, other than in just
35:31
a couple of like glitches with the ladders or something things like that, wasn't
35:37
any big noticeable things that just made a field amateur. It felt like a
35:40
very good professional wrestling show in front of a very great professional wrestling crowd.
35:45
Absolutely absolutely, so there you go. All In is in the books that
35:49
will return to London next year and it will also once again be a week
35:52
out before All Out, so that was announced during the show this past Sunday.
35:57
Going back to Wembley a year from now disappears to be the Wrestlemanian Doctor
36:00
Trey. I think it's safe to say so instead of doing two nights,
36:05
they're just doing him back to back weekends. Yeah. I guess we'll see
36:07
how that plays out this Sunday, because right now I'm like, I don't
36:10
know how it's gonna play out in Chicago. But first on Saturday, we'll
36:15
be we payback. Let's give our previous predictions for that. This live live
36:17
this Saturday from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. First match here
36:22
on the card is a steel cage match, Becky Lynch versus Tris Stratis.
36:25
I'll start here, Doctor Trey. I'm gonna take Becky Lynch in this one.
36:30
Yeah, I mean she's a good guy. Dan. I mean that
36:32
the falls acount anywhere I match on Raw was really well, really well done
36:36
as well, So I'm taking Becky. Also. By the way, Jeff,
36:38
hugs you for saying PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I bet
36:44
you that was for the great job. Hat tip, hat tip, Thank
36:46
you, my friend. Next match here is La Night versus The Miss.
36:51
I'm gonna take La Night in this one. I don't know about you.
36:54
I kind of want the Miss to wrestle as his version of La Nights like
36:58
that was pretty damn good and Miss maybe the best ever at impersonating the other
37:05
wrestlers. That being said, yeah, La Night gets to win. Next
37:09
match here is Raymisterio defend the United States Championship against Austin Theory Doctor Trey.
37:15
Who do you like in this one? This is kind of because Ray never
37:17
really has long title runs outside his one runs World Champion even that I think
37:22
it was about four months, but Austin Theory since they moved into SmackDown has
37:28
felt a little flat. So I think I'm gonna take I think I'll take
37:32
Ray to retain. Right now, this one's kind of a fifty fifty TOSSI
37:36
for me, So I think, just on pay person's Ray just won the
37:38
belt recently, I'll take Raymisterio. I like, Hi'm gonna take Raymisteria to
37:44
retain the United States Championship. Do you feel like they're gonna go with him?
37:46
And Santos Escabar is another person gonna turn on Ray. Reason that like
37:52
that makes them the best underdog is that everybody ends up turning on him.
37:54
Yeah, and it's also the way to make the biggest asshole that we don't
37:58
know. Yeah, it's it's also a way for the LWO to become a
38:01
heel faction and be underhanding dirty like the original LWO was designed to be,
38:07
and Ray can kind of go back to be in Ray Mystereo. So it's
38:12
the w W version of taking Big Show. Well, it's like what taking
38:17
what they did in NXT and putting a WW spin on it, you know,
38:21
with alight friend the name of the damn group they had in NXT,
38:25
Legato del fantasma. Yes, Legato del Fantasti, sorry, Brave farest It's
38:30
it's their way. It's the WW Vince Bruce way of taking lake Otto Delphantasma,
38:35
sticking in already branded name on it that they knew they can merchandise,
38:38
and running with it. It's like, well, we can't do the n
38:40
of you O. We bring back the LWO and just give her that name
38:44
Legato del Fantasmas. I don't think Vince could say it. Next fatch,
38:49
here is Ria Ripley defending the w W Women's World Championhip against Rachel Rodriguez.
38:53
I've got Ria Ripley in this one. Who do you like Doctor Trey.
38:57
I've got Ria Ripley because I'm just pretty sure that they'll do enough her injury
39:00
angles Riquel because I'm pretty sure over the last year they've broken almost every bone
39:04
in her body and she comes back in two months. So because I think
39:07
the broken arm broken arm, as she's had like two broken arms this year
39:14
storyline wise. So yeah, Ria wins. Rickuel's not ready yet. She
39:19
still got about an other year before she can really be on the Ria Bianca
39:22
level. Next much here is pretty interesting. Doctor Trey, Kevin Owens,
39:28
and Sammy Zane defend the undisputed WA Tag Team Championship against Finn Baaler and Damian
39:34
Priests of the Judgment Day not True. Who do you like in this one?
39:37
This one's hard for me because I feel like I almost have to pick
39:42
against Kevin and Sammy because Judgment Day with multiple belts and the money in the
39:47
Bank title kind of solidifies them as running raw. So yeah, I think
39:52
I would take Balor and Priests with the help of JD McDonough to get the
39:57
win over Kevin and Sammy and get the tag team titles. It's funny that
40:00
we're both going this way. I thought I was going to be the odd
40:01
bird here. I was like, I did not want to make this choice
40:05
because I love Kevin and Sammy, but I just feel like it's pointing towards
40:08
the direction Finn Valor and Damian Priest to win thanks to help from JD mcdonnah,
40:13
especially now that the stipulation is a Steel City street fight for the inter
40:16
Speed Attack Team Championship. So I like dtr tray and taking Finn Balor and
40:21
Damian Priest as well, and then that gets us to our main event here,
40:23
Seth Freak and Rollins defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Shinsky Nakamora. This
40:28
has been a pretty damn good feud for a guy who just turned heel over
40:30
the last three weeks. Would have loved to see in a little bit of
40:32
a longer build. Nonetheless, I'm going to take Seth Freaking Rollins to win
40:37
and retain Doctor Trey. At what point are we going to find out?
40:40
Way he's whispering? He said, he said I know about your broken back.
40:45
Yeah, but I mean he said that early on, but then he
40:47
whispered again the other night, so it's kind of like, well, what
40:51
do he whisper? This time, like it's it's still playing out, So
40:54
this whole thing is about whispering, you know. It's kind of it's kind
40:57
of great, and it's funny because this is the storyline is playing off what
41:00
you and I did at the previous pay per view, thinking that we might
41:04
have set lose because of the injuries that he may need to have surgery for,
41:09
and now they're taking that in using in the storyline, So good job
41:12
by them for that. That being said, yeah, I'm taking Seth.
41:16
I love Shinsky heel and this quick turn has kind of helped elevate him back
41:22
up and reminding people how good he is at times. But yeah, we're
41:24
still building up that title up, still building up seths Ron, and Jeff's
41:30
not talking me out of picking against Seth in this match. I'm taking Seth.
41:32
Yeah. This feels like just one of those feuds that they do to
41:37
buy time before something big, and that may be the case, but I'm
41:43
kind of digging it and I wouldn't mind to see this continue on post payback.
41:46
It's been pretty darn good and you're seeing a different layer to Seth freaking
41:51
Rons that we haven't seen in some time. So I'm enjoying it, and
41:53
I'm a big fan of Shinsk, So we'll see how it goes. Payback
41:57
this Saturday, and then that's takes us to Sunday, the Labor Day weekend
42:01
tradition that is aw all out preview predictions here live this Sunday from the United
42:06
Center in Chicago, Illinois. Let's get to the first match here, Lucasaurus
42:10
defends the AWT and T Championship against Darby Allen, Doctor Trey, who do
42:15
you like in this one? I want to take Lujasaurus to retain because we
42:19
saw Darby and Sting be Christian Cage a week you know at all in,
42:22
so I will take Christian Cage help Illugasaurus to feed Darby Allen to retain the
42:27
T and T title. I'm gonna take Darby Allen this one. I think
42:29
this is the first time we've disagreed on a match so far that it's coming
42:32
up here this weekend. So I'm going to take Darby Allen to win the
42:36
AWT and TA Championship because I think it would be funnier to see Christian Cage
42:39
squirm without the title now, even though he's not the champion. Next match
42:44
here and This must have been announced during Dynamite because it popped up on the
42:46
Wikipedia page that I keep refreshing to make sure I'm not missing anything, which
42:52
I actually just see some other matches popped up here. But we've got Bullet
42:54
Club Bullet Club Gold taking on FTR and the Young Bucks in an eight man
43:00
tag team match. I'm gonna take FTR and the Young Bucks. I don't
43:05
know what led to this match because we're recording during Dynamite, but I'm taking
43:07
FTR on the Bucks. See. This is tricky for me because of how
43:12
the FTR Young Bucks match ended with the Bucks refusing to shake Ftr's hand.
43:16
So I've kind of gone back and forth. I still think Bullet Club Gold
43:22
needs a high profile within so we might just rab. I think I'm gonna
43:25
lean towards the Bullet Club Golden this one. I'm gonna side with those guys,
43:29
just thinking that FTR and the Bucks may have a disagreement that costs them
43:32
the match, just like we saw with Bullet Club Gold and Kenny and Adam
43:37
Page. A little bit of misdirection and a little bit quick roll up,
43:39
one, two, three, I'll take Bullet Club Gold. This may be
43:44
because one of their one of the members, Dads was in this group.
43:49
But Bullet Club Gold has been really really good on television lately, and they
43:53
remind me so much of Degeneration X Doctor Trey. Yeah, it's a little
43:59
bit of you know, j White doing the Triple H stuff, and then
44:05
you have you know, Jews doing the Sean Waltman and then the Guns being
44:09
the outlaws. It makes a lot of sense in the way they're putting that
44:12
together. Maybe that's also why it some other reports of how much money w
44:15
wants to throw out the Guns when their contract is up. Yeah, they've
44:19
been really really good as well. It's been a lot of fun and very
44:22
entertaining group has been Bullet Club Gold and the Guns especially. Next match here
44:27
is Mirro versus Powerhouse Hobbs, Doctor Trey. Who do you like in this
44:30
one? Oh? This is a tough one for me. This is like
44:34
the cmpunk Collision specialty match that we didn't know about. I'm gonna take Mirro
44:42
just because he hasn't been on TV that much, so I'll take Mirro getting
44:45
the way over Hobbs. I'm gonna take Miro as well. Next matches Chris
44:51
stat Lander defending the a W TBS Championship against Ruby s soho, I'm going
44:55
to take Chris sat stat Lander doctor Trey. Yeah. I still think you've
44:59
got to to build her up after that, you know, after getting the
45:01
title, and it would be weird for Ruby to get the t and T
45:07
the TBS Women's Championship with Soreya getting the women's title so you know, a
45:12
week earlier. So I'll take stat Landard to retain as well. Next match
45:17
is Orange Cassidy or Penta El Sera Mieto. They're having a match on Dynamite
45:22
tonight for the aw International Championship. The winner will be taken on John Moxley.
45:25
Nonetheless, I expect this to be Orange Cassidy versus John Moxley. And
45:30
as much as I have loved this title reign from Orange Cassidy, I think
45:34
he is going to lose to John Moxley. I'm going to take Moxley to
45:36
become the new International champion out of all Outdoor Trey. Yeah, I'm with
45:39
you. I mean the you know BCC got the loss at all in so
45:44
sometimes you got Trey wins and losses. So I'll take Moxley to get to
45:47
win over Orange Cassidy as well, although it was Penta that did the skewers
45:52
into Moxley's head, So either person and Moxley would still be a good match.
45:58
But I'll take Moxley defeating Orange Cassidy to win the title. John Moxley
46:01
is one of the kind folks and better yet is following Renee Piquette's Twitter feed
46:07
when his matches are on, because boy does she put out some great gifts.
46:10
Next match, here's Kenny Omega versus Kenneska Takeshka Doctor Trey. Who do
46:15
you like in this one? Ah? They made so much about Kenny's winless
46:20
streak in singles matches during all In. I'm gonna take Takeshka getting the upset
46:27
victory with the help of Uncle Don. Just gotta play on that Kenny slump
46:31
even more. Plus it helps elevate Takeshka even more. Dude's a beast,
46:36
So I'll take Takeshi getting the win. I think this is where we differ
46:39
because Takeshka did get the pin at all In. I'm gonna say Kenny avenges
46:46
that loss and gets the victory at all Out. He's been taking a lot
46:50
of ells lately at the hands of Don Calis. I'm gonna take Kenny Omega
46:53
and then the last match here, this I guess has happened during Dynamitis.
46:58
Who record this? But Adam Cole and MJFF better than you, Babey,
47:01
will be defending the ROH World Tag Team Championship against a winner a tag team
47:06
winner of a Battle Royal. I don't know when the Battle Royal is it?
47:09
Maybe tonight. It could be a rampage, could be collision, it
47:13
could be all out. I'm trying to follow this on Twitter, but folks
47:16
bear with me. Nonetheless, I'm going to take MJF and Adam Cole to
47:21
retain the ROH Tag Team Championship at all out, Doctor Trey. Any guesses
47:25
on who they'll face? Oh wow boy? What would be cool? The
47:37
Kingdom? I think the Kingdom of Matt Taban and Mike Bennett. You know
47:45
who I think I might go with here? I might go with the Big
47:49
Bill Lee Moriarty tag team, but Big Bills would have been with Brian Cage
47:52
too lately, and now he's tied with Ricky Starks. See I don't know,
47:57
because uh, like is Stoke is the firm still around? Well?
48:01
No, I get I think Stokely's just on ro oh. Now I don't
48:04
I don't watch it, but from what I see on Twitter, the firm
48:07
is done. I wouldn't mind seeing the Hardies in this spot as well.
48:13
I just feel like playing off of the storyline right now with Roddy and Taven
48:16
and Bennett would be the Kingdom. I also want to put it past.
48:20
Maybe Kyle O'Reilly's on the verge of returning and you bring back Bobby Fish and
48:23
it's Red Dragon, or you just do Roderick and Kyle, you know,
48:28
for you know that's Hey, Roddy was great. By the way, Matt
48:30
All in main event, he's been great lately as a character. Yeah,
48:35
it's amazing because you almost forget what a good character person he is and it's
48:38
like, oh shit, yeah he's really good at pis are did you pick?
48:42
Make a pick for this match? So I'm taking Adahim Cole and m
48:45
Jam as well, and I am leaning towards the Kingdom as well, just
48:52
to tie in with all this stuff. That's where I was kind of going,
48:54
is you're gonna be them or you know, either the Brian Cage,
48:58
Big Bill, big Bill Lee Moriarty tag teams, So just to kind of
49:01
tie in the MJF stuff from you know, it was a double or nothing.
49:07
So but yeah, I am JF am Cale And this is all because
49:09
of the Punk Perry suspension because it was supposed to be Punk at MJF.
49:13
So there you go, h Doctor Trey will see him Punk be wrestling it
49:17
all out this Sunday. It is in Chicago. I don't think he'll be
49:22
wrestling, but I do think he'll come out and challenge MJF post match.
49:30
It's a kind of set the stage for eventually unifying the World Championships in AW.
49:35
So let me let me erase my question here, okay, and ask
49:37
you this, what is more likely to happen see him Punk has wrestled his
49:43
last match in AW or he is at all out. What's more likely he's
49:52
at all out? It's in Chicago. You don't think he's wrestling this last
49:54
match then in AW? No? I mean I look, if I gave
50:00
him a seventy five percent chance most brawl out wrestlers last match, this what
50:07
happened at all end wasn't as bad as brawl out. So if he survived
50:12
that and still came back to wrestle. He'll survive this and look see him
50:16
punk maybe the cockros professional wrestling Like he gets nuclear bombs dropped all around him
50:21
and he still survives. So at this point, I don't think it's his
50:24
last match. I think it's more likely we see him at all Out.
50:28
So there you go. All Out has been preview and predicted here. We
50:31
will recap and review. We payback and All Out on next week's edition of
50:37
