Transcript
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: So today I had the honor and the blessing of hearing John Maxwell, uh Nick Vidricich, Sarah Jake's Roberts, Willie Robertson, and other great speakers speak on stage in person.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: And I'm actually doing a speech this Tuesday myself, uh, primarily on resilience and how life is hard.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And I want to today talk about the different types of hard.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: So, with that said, welcome to the Reborn Podcast.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: My name is Tony Beatros, and this podcast is the podcast that shines a light on the paths we choose in the face of life's challenges.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Whether you're navigating your way through personal growth, seeking inspiration, just looking for a companion in your journey of resilience, you've tuned in to the right place.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: In today's episode, we're going to dive into a topic that resonates with every single one of us.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Life is hard.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: But as we'll explore, it's not just about acknowledging the hardships.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: It's about making a conscious choice on how we decide to face them.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Life in its unpredictable essence tests us in the most profound ways.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: It stresses us, it pushes us into uncomfortable situations, and sometimes brings us to the brink where the light at the end of the tunnel seems but a faint glimmer.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: It's in these moments that we stand at a crossroads faced with two critical decisions.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: The first path is one of surrender.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: It's about giving into the pressures, letting go of the dreams once cradled as children, abandoning our goals, and ultimately fading into the background of oblivion.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: The second path, however, is carved with resilience.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It's about facing life in the middle of challenges head on, authoring our own stories and constructing a legacy, not just for ourselves, but for those we hold dear.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Wasn't super nice.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: It was actually one of the lower ranked schools, probably like a 40 out of 100 on Zillow or whatever they call it, right?
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Uh, and I moved to a school that was an overachieving school, one of the top in the country, luxurious, glamorous, etc.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And I was an overachiever at the school of underachievers.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And so when I moved to a school of overachievers, you would have imagined that I would excel.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: But that's not what happened.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: I overnight I went from a straight A student to an C, D, and F student.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: I lost all my friends, I became a loner, a misfit.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: And I developed mental health disorders, depression, anxiety.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, and throughout my whole high school career, I uh probably spent more time in therapy than I spent in school.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And ultimately that led me to dropping out, that led me to uh uh getting kicked out of my parents' house.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: And so I just want to let you guys know like, hey, you guys might be going through stuff, but you're not alone.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: And I promise you that if I can get through it, so can you.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Resilience doesn't just mean bouncing back, it means growing, learning, and thriving through difficulty.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: The narrative of life's hardship brings us to a pivotal insight.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: There are indeed two types of heart.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: The first is a passive heart, living paycheck to paycheck, being out of shape, and not reaching our potential.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: This form of hardship stems from inaction and a reluctance to push we yard in our comfort zones.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Contrastingly, the second type of heart is active.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: It involves chasing the dreams that light up our eyes, sculpting our dream bottles bodies through discipline and sweat and maximizing our potential in the limited time, 75, maybe 80 years we are blessed with on this earth.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: So, how do we choose our heart?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: It starts with self-reflection.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Understand what truly matters to you, set clear, actionable goals, embrace failure as a stepping stone to growth, and most importantly, cultivate a support system that uplifts and motivates you through the journey.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: When I was going through my journey, and I'm still going through my journey, I think everyone, including, you know, I heard uh uh John Maxwell speaking this morning, and he said he's 77 and he's still growing.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: So everyone, I don't care how old you are, you're still growing, you're still on your journey.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: But three of the most common questions are what if I'm already on the path of passive horde?
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: What if I'm already living paycheck to paycheck?
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: What if I'm already uh out of shape?
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: What if I'm already not reaching my potential?
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: And my answer to you is this I've been that person before, and I can tell you from first hand experience, from building a seven-figure business, from building my body, from I don't want not maximizing my potential, but growing it's never too late to change courses.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: And I think so many people overwhelm themselves.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: So, what I suggest is start with small, man, manageable changes towards your goals.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Second question: how can I stay motivated when the active heart feels overwhelming?
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And my answer to you is this break down your goals into smaller tasks, celebrate your victories.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: That's a big one.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Big one, big, big, big, big, big one.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Man, I remember making tons of money, um, working out, and not sticking with it.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Because I wasn't rewarding myself.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: You have to trick your brain into wanting to do the active hard stuff.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: And how do you do that?
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: You do that by rewarding yourself.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: If I have a billion dollars in the bank account, but I'm doing nothing that I enjoy.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I'm living in a uh a studio apartment, I'm lit in the hood, I'm living, I'm driving a Honda Accord, I never go out to you know to dinner or whatever, right?
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Like I don't do anything, I don't spend any money.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Like, there's a difference between being frugal and being cheap.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: And you trust me, reward yourself.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: You will be 10 times more successful for it.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: And that that goes for business, fitness, personal development, relationships, etc.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Anything.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: But so break down your goals into smaller tasks, celebrate your victories, and remember why you started.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: That's another huge one that we've talked on several times before.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Remember why you started.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: For me, I started because I hit rock bottom.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: I started because I got kicked out of my parents.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: I couldn't afford to pay rent.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: I got kicked out of that place uh two months later.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: And I hit rock bottom, and I don't want to do that again.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: So that's why I started.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Now my, you know, now that I'm past that, and now that I'm making good money, now that I don't really have to think about ever being like homeless again, right?
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I have a different why, but it still stems from that.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: It stems from uh mental health specifically, mental health, youth, and I love giving back to young entrepreneurs.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Uh just recently, uh today, I actually met someone who I might be able to mentor a little bit, actually a couple years older than me.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: And man, that just makes me feel good.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: That makes me feel fulfilled.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: So have a why and remember your why.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Remember why you started it in the first place.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Um, and and and in in some cases, that might be, hey, dude, I'm broke.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, I can't afford to pay for gas, which by the way, that was me too.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: It might be uh, you know, I want to be rich, and that might literally be it.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: And that's fine, dude.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: As long as you're doing business ethically, like, good for you.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Just don't go screwing other people around uh over because of that.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: And the question three is quick, can resilience be learned?
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: That's actually a big part of my speech, is I say resilience isn't a trait you're born with.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, I sure was not born resilient.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: I sure was not.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Resilience is a choice, it's not even a trait, it's a choice you make every day.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: I can be resilient Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday night.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: I'm going out to drink, uh, sleeping around, um, and wasting the whole week.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: And you know, I can I'm gonna go to a strip club and spend all the money I made throughout the week.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: So I'm making the choice not to be resilient.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: So is it a trade or is it a choice?
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Up for you to up for you to decide.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: And so, yeah, absolutely.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Resilience is like a muscle.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: The more you work it, the stronger it becomes.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: As we wrap up today's episode, I leave you with this thought.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Life's hardships are inevitable, but the manner in which we confront them is a choice.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Each day offers a new opportunity to decide which type of hard we would like to endure, the sake of our dreams, goals, and legacy.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Thank you so, so, so much for joining us under Reborn Podcast.

- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Until next time, just do me one favor.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Choose your heart wisely and forge ahead with courage and hope.
