- 1:37SPEAKER_03: This is like super exciting stuff.

- 2:50SPEAKER_03: I already love you guys forever.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: But thank you so much and stay tuned.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: Hi guys, welcome back to Speaker Anarchy.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: This is Ekta and I am very excited about our guest today because I have been actually dying to interview a wonderful company that creates um products for you know just like more beauty aesthetic related products, such as, you know, lashes that are actually professional grade lashes.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: And so I have been very blessed and I am now, you know, hosting Pro Lash and their founders, uh Haley and Zach Chipman.
- 3:32SPEAKER_03: Welcome to the show, Haley and Zach.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: I'm so honored to host you.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Thank you for having us.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the honor is ours.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much.
- 3:40SPEAKER_03: Oh no, I'm very excited and I really commend you guys.
- 3:43SPEAKER_03: You've created such a beautiful line, and I'm really in love.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: As somebody who could never get lashes right, I can tell you how much I can't tell you how much I appreciate you because it's it's so easy, you know, with the way you guys have everything set up.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: So before we dive into that, I want to really learn about both of you and your your backgrounds and how you got involved in the beauty industry and the whole journey.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: If you could walk us down memory lane.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: For sure.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I would love that.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Zach and I, our careers are much different than the beauty industry.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: So the fact that we're here is telling you that we love what we do.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Um I started off in the nursing industry, and Zach is a mechanical engineer.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: So I have my RN degree.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Zach has his engineering degree, and while we were in school, I did eyelashes to get through school.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: So I did them as a professional.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: It was before you needed a license or anything.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: They were brand new, just out, eyelash extensions.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And so I did eyelashes to get through school, and I did them professionally just on people, and um Zach found my products for me, like for a much better deal, and he started sourcing products for me.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: And that's how we started our company, Bella Lash, which we have owned for over 12 years, and it's professional eyelash extensions, and we are eyelashes obsessed, we love eyelash extensions.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Like the second I got them done, I'm like, these are amazing because they're high maintenance maintenance, but they're high maintenance to be low maintenance.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: So, like, you have to get them done once every few weeks, but then you don't have to get ready for three weeks.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: You look ready when you wake up.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I just like fell in love with eyelash extensions.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: I absolutely love them.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: I love how they just immediately make you look ready.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: You wake up with your makeup, like your job is done, you get them done every three weeks, and your job's done.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: So um we have been innovating in that space.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: We have patents in the professional space um with Bella Lash.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: And as we have been doing professional eyelash extensions, we found that there's one problem, and it's that a lot of women don't have time still to go get their eyelashes done.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: And um even like my friends and family, I was like, hey, come down, I'll we'll do them for free.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And they're like, I just can't, I don't have time.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: So we were like, okay, we've got to figure this time thing out.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: We've been trying four years to figure out the time problem.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: How do we address this?
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: How do we get these lashes on everyone?
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: They're amazing, woman will love them.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: Nothing can transform your look like eyelashes can.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: And so um we started in with our engineers, we had a team of engineers trying to create them faster, and that is how we created prolash.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: And yes.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: Well, that's that's really interesting.
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: You know, you really you said something very interesting, Haley.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: And I love that you said this because you know, um, I think a lot of women are in that boat where we're like, I've all I'm one of them.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: Before I tried prolash, I mean, I never got my lashes done, even though I wanted to.
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: I would even book appointments and then call them and be like, I'm so sorry, I can't make it, you know, like it was just this terrible like feeling because I wanted so badly to go to my appointments and I wanted to do this and I wanted to maintain it, but it was like no time, you know, no time.
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: And it was like the biggest annoyance because you would go onto Instagram, you go onto social media, you see these beautiful women and their beautiful lash extensions, and you're like, dang it, why didn't I do that?
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: Like, why didn't I just go?
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: So it was I definitely resonate with what you said, definitely.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: We've been trying to do this for so long, and um there was this there was this night that Hayden and I were up late, we were talking, and we're like, what if we did what if we did what if we tried it like this?
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: And we had this idea, and it was kind of like this, oh my gosh, what if that worked?
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: And so I'm I'm like a late night guy, I I like to work after after like the family goes to bed.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: And so I went back into our shop where we have the ability to manufacture lashes, and so I I kicked on the machines and I started like running and operating it, and I like and I created this this new system, and it was this I it was based on this idea that Haley and I had.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: And I I remember I got done at like 2 a.m.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: And I the next morning when Haley woke up, we tried it on like a mannequin doll, and we were like literally jumping up and down.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: We're like, oh my gosh, this could be it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: Like this, like this could do it.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: And um it didn't do it, but it was close.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: It got us, it got us going down the path.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: It was extremely uncomfortable and it didn't really last.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: We didn't get the retention stuff we wanted, but it it was it was what we needed, and we we kind of went down this path and we we poured all of our engineering onto the adhesive structures and how do we make it so that it's still healthy for the natural lashes, um, and allows all the lashes to grow at their own pace, um, but yet still you know last for days and days and days.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: And so um, yeah, getting it to where it's at right now, I think is more than what we it we've reached a level that's like better than what we what we originally intended on doing um as an engineering benchmark.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: It's absolutely like true professional like lashes.
- 9:11SPEAKER_03: Like you can't if you just you know follow the steps for everyone listening, by the way.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Like if you just follow the steps, and it's very, very easy to because the way that it's set up, you know, the company, like when you buy the products, you get the you know, you buy one of the sets, right?
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: So it I would recommend buy the pro set because it comes with everything, you know, the tweezers, the scissors, the adhesive, it comes with the lashes, and you follow the steps and it's so easy, like it's really, really easy to apply and it they look so beautiful, like they just look natural.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: And it's like I've always had this problem, and I'm you know, I'm gonna be very honest with you guys.
- 9:48SPEAKER_03: The you know, the fake lashes I've tried before.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: I remember the first time was like high school, and I had them on, and I think one of them was like falling off my eye, and my mother was in the elevator, and she was like, What did you do to your eyes?
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, I don't look at okay, mom.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: Oh man.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: So you know I feel like I feel like we've created like a new space in the beauty industry where like before there were strip lashes, which was daily wear, and there's eyelash extensions, which you can wear for a few weeks, but you have to go in for fills.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: And now there's these lashes that you can put on yourself at home, and they're kind of between the two.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: They're not uncomfortable like strip lashes, they're comfortable like professional lashes, and they last longer than a strip lash, they last over 10 days.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: And um, we've had someone go 23 days with them on with our adhesive system, and so it's just kind of this like new, never before seen part of the beauty industry where you can have the eyelash extensions, but not the maintenance.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: And I just like I'm really excited about it because it feels like completely new, something I've never seen before.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: And there's other companies that do it out there, but like we really wanted that 10-day mark, like or longer.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: And with like our double patented adhesive system, we were able to get that over 10 day mark.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: And so it's just like it's new, it's innovative and it's really cool.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: No, it definitely is.
- 11:17SPEAKER_03: And I've I can definitely um, you know, give you a testimonial to that because I've worn mine for more than 10 days, so I've really, really loved it.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's it they work, like it's that it's the real deal.
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: Like you guys really created something amazing.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: Like it's you know, I and it is one of those things where you do it and then you forget about it too.
- 11:35SPEAKER_03: It doesn't feel uncomfortable at all.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Like there's no discomfort, you're feeling you know how you like have those lashes where like the adhesive feels like you're wearing glue, like literal glue on your face.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't have that feeling at all, and um, it's just it's so convenient.
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, I would definitely be, you know, give you my testimonial for that because it's true.
- 11:57SPEAKER_03: Uh, yeah, no, I don't actually know because you know, you guys have a beautiful um array, you know, it's like for everybody, and so this is something for all of my listeners, you know, um tuning in.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: If you're somebody who loves like that natural look, like this is where I love the brand because they've got like a gradation, you know, so you can get um a set, like you can get three sets, and it's like you have this mixed collection, which is, you know, it goes from like the lightest look to the medium to the you know to the heavy.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: And I love that because, you know, if you're go if you're somebody who is still young and you go out a lot, you know, you might want to go for the more like full lashes.
- 12:37SPEAKER_03: But if you're like me and you just want to go to work every day and you know, you come home and die basically because you're so tired, you know, it's it's okay.
- 12:45SPEAKER_03: You know, you can still wear the light, like the more light version, and it's like it looks natural and it looks like it's just a part of you naturally.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: It doesn't, nothing stands out, you know, awkwardly.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: So it's a really, really nice range in terms of who can wear the lashes in terms of the demographic, um, and it's very giftable as well.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: So, you know, I really recommend all of you, you know, as you're listening to this episode, you know, you need to go check out the actual brand itself because um you'll see what I'm talking about once you look through.
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: But um, I want to actually ask you about that.
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: That's the reason I brought that up.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: Um, Haley, I wanted to ask you about that is that when you were coming up with the the gradation of how thick the eyelashes should be, you know, all of those little details, like what was the process behind that?
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: Like what were the materials you went for in terms of um what the lashes are made out of and all of the details, if you could kind of dive into that for us.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: I would absolutely love that.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, so like we study eye shapes, like right, we do professional eyelashes, we study eye shapes, we study and we do professional eyelash extensions, and there's we kind of did an ode to our professional status when we named these lashes, because there's a classic look, a volume look, and a mega volume look, which are three looks you can get when you go to a professional.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: And one of them, classic is is our most natural looking set, and um, it's a one-to-one method for a professional.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: And so it's just really natural, it's really classic, and we wanted to have like we said when we started this company, like we're like, wait, not everyone can get our lashes.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: We want everyone to be able to get lashes.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: So we did, we thought of the inclusity of everyone, and how can we make a lash that everyone loves?
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: And that's kind of like where the bases stand for.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: So we started with a light density and then a medium density and then a heavy density, and then um we're gonna play off those and come out with more styles that help like elongate your eye if you have a really round eye, so like you can get a cat eye look, and those styles are gonna be coming out in the next month to two months, and so we're just like working on getting lashes that seriously, like any woman can go to our website and just find something really love, but we wanted to keep it simple as well, so it is pretty simple right now with the classic volume omega, and it's like, do you want them light, do you want them medium light, or do you want them heavy?
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: And then as we introduce more styles, you can think like, Oh, I want to elongate my eye, or I want to make it look more open, so I'm gonna buy this style.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: And um, yeah, we're just trying to like get these professional lashes that everyone can't get and get them to you in a way that you can have them at home.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: Now, what about the material that you're using for actually the lashes themselves?
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: Like, what are they made out of?
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you know, like your makeup brush.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like those fibers, like the really soft makeup brush fibers, they're all synthetic.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Um so they're all they're all vegan, they're all like not on animal animals or any animal cruelty, they're all just like really soft fibers that they weave together.
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: So um and then we wanted we've taken a lot of, which is interesting because strip lashes are, you know, they're also the same materials, but they're for whatever reason, they don't use like a very good quality uh professional grade lash.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: So what we've done with these ones is we've taken like the the highest quality fibers and materials and different shapes and stuff that we can that we would traditionally use on professional lash extensions, and we've we've used that same professional material on these.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: And that's I think that we are kind of the first to ever do that as well, because a lot of the other ones that you try, they're not comfortable because they're really stiff and they they don't quite look the same.
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a really great point, Zach.
- 16:39SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm really glad you told me that because um that's actually it was one of my questions was that you know, they don't feel like the ones that you buy that are just like one-time use or something like that.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: They don't feel like that at all.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: You know, it's like the and you're right about the pliability and like the the flexibility.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: That's definitely something I've noticed, like even from the get-go.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: Like before you know, when I was first applying them, I noticed like, wow, these are way easier to apply because of that.
- 17:05SPEAKER_03: Like it's not like you know, um, with the other ones, like you know, the ones that we were uh comparing them to, like the um the daily use or the ones that are you know just cheaper quality, you have to really like mess with the band, you know, like you have to like shape it and you have to like make it flexible and all that stuff, and you it just it's annoying, you know, and it still doesn't feel so the comfort level is really really astonishing with um your products, it's really great.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: It's interesting that you like mentioned the band because like that is actually like a ton of engineering went into the band, it has to be remarkably flexible in order to stay comfortable.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: And so I think it's awesome that you like we even notice the band because a lot of the times I feel like we just we design things and you can feel a difference, but you may not necessarily be able to put your finger on why and like you you pretty much nailed it.
- 17:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, it's it's the band.
- 17:58SPEAKER_03: The band is like, you know, and I think I saw this, I think it was Jackie Ina.
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you guys follow her on YouTube, but she was the first one that introduced me to this idea of like, no, you gotta play around with the band, you know, make it flexible.
- 18:10SPEAKER_03: And I was like, you shouldn't have to do that, you know, like you should just have, you know, you just have a product that does it by itself and you shouldn't have to mess around so much with it.
- 18:19SPEAKER_03: But yeah, this is definitely a next level for lashes.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: I would definitely agree.
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: Now, one one thing I really want to ask you guys in terms of like, you know, I know that every brand has a niche when it comes to marketing, you know, it's it's really hard to kind of get your name out there, especially, you know, I'm sure you guys know better than I do, you know, when you launch something, getting the bright eyes on it, you know, what are some of the hurdles or stories you have as just entrepreneurs in this space?
- 18:44SPEAKER_03: Because this is such an innovative niche, you know, in the beauty industry that you've kind of experienced so far or that you've maybe you've struggled with, or you know, anything, any war stories you could kind of share with us.
- 18:57unknown: Yeah.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, marketing is hard.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: Um, I would say like the hardest thing for me is I'm just a really private person.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: And I feel like people really love to know the owners and kind of know the owner's story and all about them.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: And I'm just really private and I have a hard time.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: I'm a total introvert, you know what I mean?
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: And I would say that's probably been the hardest part for me is to like get out there and like share my story and share my product and really just put myself out there.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: That has been by far the hardest part.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Um I would say what's been so great about it is to create a product that like truly is different and that people want.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: And then like it really pearlashes just exceeded all of my expectations because it's something new that people want and it just sells, you know what I mean?
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: It's so nice, it's just a new product, like innovative that no one's heard of, and that's been what's so amazing about prolashes.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: That's probably been the easiest part is that like we have something that no one else has.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: So I would say, like, if you are trying to start a business, like change something, like you see something, don't just directly rip it off.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: Like, how can you make it better?
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: Make it better, and then go from there.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: Um there's so many eyelash products out there, but like we just really narrowed in like, how do we change this?
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: How do we make it better?
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: How do we do something different?
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: And that's what's made prolash marketing easier because it's like a product that sells itself.
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: I love that it's it's like that because I think that's what true quality is.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: You know, it's like if you can if you can create something and then you have one person try it, they like, you know, recommend it to their girlfriends or whoever.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's that's the real, I guess, real marketing, you know, and and the real telltale of have you created something unique or no?
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: You know, so that's really great to hear.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 20:53SPEAKER_03: Now, one thing I do want to ask you um is that there are some, you know, obviously there are care products that are, you know, they're coming with the kits, right?
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: So I want to actually dive into those.
- 21:03SPEAKER_03: I know we had spoken about the adhesive and how it is a um kind of it's a patented technology, but you guys have um a lot of things like prep cleanser and um you know stuff to remove the adhesive and all that.
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: So, you know, what was that like formulating those products?
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: I mean, was it something that you really had to think about in terms of uh the formulas or what was the whole process like for those products?
- 21:25SPEAKER_02: It is kind of this was a this was an interesting product for us to develop because it was like we were we were really in like an unknown territory.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: We've we've designed a lot of products in the professional space.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: We we kind of set out to try and solve this dilemma of like how do we get professional grade lashes uh out to the masses, something that people can apply themselves.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: Um, and as we were doing it, there was no roadmap, there was no benchmark really for us to look at and try and figure out okay, how's how do we how do we get to that point?
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: It was kind of like, all right, we're doing this thing.
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: How do you guys?
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Like we, you know, we would have a lot of our employees and friends and family test this, and we're we would kind of like rely on the feedback from them to tell us, like, okay, what did you do that worked?
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: What didn't work?
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: Like, what would you recommend that we do for this or that?
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: And so each of the products was kind of developed out of the necessity.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: Like for us, one of the first things to try and figure out was how do we get it to adhere?
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: And then once we could get it to adhere, and and we kind of we were worried about this as we were testing, it was like, how do we get it off?
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: So we were, you know, we were we're we're we're using a lot of like natural oils and things like that to remove each of the things.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we made homemade concoctions of the removers.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: We would make like we would get coconut oil and we'd put a little orange oil in it and it would take it off.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: And so, like, we would just like make homemade remedies to try and get them off at the beginning, and then that's when we developed like the removers because the adhesive hates oil, so we just make and we really wanted clean inkies like right off the bat on all of our products.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, the remover is just like oils that break down the adhesive and they come it comes right off with oil, and that was like the inspiration for the prep cleanser because if you have natural oils on your skin, it's gonna mess with your adhesion.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: So the prep cleanser kind of just like strips all the oils off your lashes, so you have a better adhesive.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: And we would see we would see like a huge difference.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Like when we were testing for retention, we'd see some people would make it one day or two days, but then others would make it for a couple weeks, and it was like, what's the difference here?
- 23:30SPEAKER_02: And then it was like, okay, prepping these lashes is critical.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: Like they have to get all of their mascara off, they have to get all their oils off.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: And so then it was like, okay, let's, you know, we need a cleanser that preps the lashes.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: And so we we came up with the prep cleanser and the formulation for that.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: Um, and then you know, another one that we have is like a is the um the erase remover, which is you know, we have a couple of different types of removers.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: The first one that you use is like a heavier breakdown remover, and then after that, there's an erase remover, which you you don't necessarily have to use, but it makes your life easier because the oils are so like good at doing their job right now in adhesive that we now have to remove those oils and bring those out uh before you can apply another set.
- 24:13SPEAKER_02: So, and it also kind of helps remove um any of the residue from the adhesives, and so it's just been like this you know, unknown territory, like, okay, we're seeing a lot of people having issues with this.
- 24:24SPEAKER_02: So, now how do we go and develop a product that will solve that?
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so the so the breakdown remover takes the lashes off, the erase remover takes like any extra adhesive that you have on your lashes, the erase remover takes all the adhesive you have left on your lashes off.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: I see.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: So we needed two removers because like the first one would take the lashes off, but not the the adhesive wouldn't come off great with it.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: So the erase takes like the adhesive on the natural lashes off.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: Okay, so that makes a lot of sense, and I um definitely better understand that now.
- 24:58SPEAKER_03: But you know, I also have a follow-up question then because you know, what are some of the things that you've noticed, Haley, that people are doing that are is just bad for your lashes?
- 25:07SPEAKER_03: Like if you do have lash extensions, like what are those some of the things you want to avoid and and definitely not, you know, kind of mess with when you have like, you know, less lash extensions uh on your face.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: I would say like the number one thing is don't rip your a lot of people like to mess with them and they're like ripping out their lashes when they mess with them.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: And so I would say like number one, like make sure you're not pulling at them and ripping them out.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: Like when you get them off, get them off properly.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: If they're driving you crazy, go to a professional and they'll take them off.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Or if prolash is driving you crazy, get the remover and take them off.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: Don't ever just like rip them out.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: Um, that's like the number one problem I see.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: And then just make sure you go to someone that's like really good and you're using really good stuff.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: So, like if you have any discomfort, it usually means something's not right and you should take them off.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: Um, there's like some lash artists that are experienced that could like glue lashes together and that would cause discomfort for you.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: And that would mean be your sign, like, hey, I need to get these off, you know.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: I think your body's good at telling you, hey, something's off, you know?
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely.
- 26:17SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's I think it's like, you know, for me, I was always curious when I'm like, is there something you should completely avoid?
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: Because I know, like, you know, a lot of times when people are doing their lashes, it's like, you know, you've got other makeup on your face, you got concealer, you got all these things, eyeshadow, you know, and I'm like, well, is there certain like products or certain textures you should just not, you know, get on them?
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: Now that and that actually leads me to the question of like, well, what if you're getting, okay, so say there's a scenario where you're doing your eye makeup, right?
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: And you get like, say, like glitter or eyeshadow or something on the lashes.
- 26:52SPEAKER_03: How can we kind of brush that off and like clean them without like ruining, you know, the way they sit?
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: So, like the prep cleanser or any oil-free cleanser, you can totally use to clean them.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: So, like, I that's another problem I think a lot of people have is they don't clean their lashes, and so oils build up on them and then it breaks down the adhesive.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: Like, the adhesive haze oil.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: So you want to keep them clean.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: And I think a lot of people think like, hey, if I clean these, they're gonna come off.
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: But it's actually the exact opposite.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: Like, if you clean them, they'll stay on longer because you're getting all the oils off that's built up on them, and it's good for them to be clean, you know.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: I've run I've seen that a lot too, where like people, yeah, they don't touch them, they don't clean them, and it's like they get all gunky and gross, and it's like, no, it's actually better to clean them, like they'll last longer if you clean them.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: And I think that's like counterintuitive for a lot of people.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 27:49SPEAKER_03: No, that makes a lot of sense because I I always wonder it's like, what if you're doing like a really heavy eye look and then you get something on it, and then you're just like, okay, my eyelashes look glittery now, you know?
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: So yeah, just get like a DOFLA applicator and just cleanse them with an oil-free cleanser and they'll be good to go.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: That's awesome.
- 28:07SPEAKER_03: So now, okay, I have a question because I heard this uh, you know, a long time ago was that you do not want to put mascara on your fake lashes.
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: Then I want you to talk to us about that because I still see women doing it.
- 28:20SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, is this like is it true?
- 28:22SPEAKER_03: Is it hype?
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: Is it a myth?
- 28:24SPEAKER_03: Like, what is the deal with that?
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: Well, I think a big thing is like what is in your mascaras that could break down the adhesive.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: And then also like it really does just gunk them up.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: Like you want to keep them clean and looking fresh, and it just it builds up and it ends up looking like gunky and clumpy.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: So if you have someone coming to you and they've put mascara all over their extensions, there's so much buildup on them, and it's almost like you want to restart because you just want it clean when you get them, when you do them.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: You want a clean surface, you want a clean place to adhere to.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: If it's like gunky and all built up, then it's really hard to do your job.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: That makes sense.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 29:05SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's just so there's just so much, like I feel, gray area around the world of lashes, you know.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: Like no one really has, I mean, even on YouTube now, with all of the creators and influencers, like there's not very many great videos about, you know, how to really properly care for your lashes.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: So I can definitely see how you guys have been trailblazing this area of beauty because I mean, you know, this is the first time I've come across a brand like yours, and I'm I'm so excited to see that you've done this because you know, I I was one of those consumers, you know, I was I was on YouTube, I was looking up the tutorials and trying to figure out like what do you do to, you know, make your lashes look, you know, natural yet still, you know, more lush.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: And and it was always yeah, it's always difficult to find that advice.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: So I really, really love that you guys have created this brand and that it's doing so well.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: That makes me so happy.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: It's been it's been really exciting for us to to be in a new space and to be able to sell to everyone and not just professional lash artists.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: So it's just been fun to be able to like share it with my friends and my family and finally have a product that they can actually do, you know.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, absolutely.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: No, absolutely.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: I can imagine, you know, that's one of the best parts of being an entrepreneur is to be able to share it with your loved ones and be like, look what I did, you know, look what I made.
- 30:23SPEAKER_03: So I I get it.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: Um, I actually do have one last question for you, Haley.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: And it's really about, you know, as a woman of color, um, one thing that I picked up on when I was, you know, YouTubing and whatnot was this idea of like black adhesive.
- 30:38SPEAKER_03: Now, what do you how do you feel about that in terms of like, you know, is it necessary?
- 30:43SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, why why did people even go and gravitate towards that?
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: For us, the black adhesive was just like the best way to to make the lashes kind of look more natural on anyone because the lashes are are black.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: So the black adhesive like really worked the best with the black lashes, and um that's kind of like the main reason why we went with that color because it just seemed to like be the color that made them look the most natural on every single king skin color that we put them on.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: Oh, I love that.
- 31:20SPEAKER_03: No, I'm glad that you did that because honestly, like, yeah, for me it was always like it the adhesive would look like glue.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: Like I said before, it would look that white line would show up.
- 31:30SPEAKER_03: And so I'm you know, and I always wondered, like, because I I think again it was Jackie Ina that was like, you have to be a pro to really get this down, the the black adhesive, because it can get very missed, very messy.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: So um, you know, I was just curious, but yeah, it can be messier than the light, but I almost like that you can see it because you can clean it up easier, you know what I mean?
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: Like you don't want adhesive all over you.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: So I mean, if it's dark, it's if it's black, then just wipe it off with a Q tip or whatever, you know, because it's it's almost good that you can see it, because then you can take it right off, you know.
- 32:06SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 32:07SPEAKER_03: Now, um, just to round out the interview, I actually have a question for you guys from a more business standpoint, and that is retail.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: So, what are your what are your thoughts?
- 32:16SPEAKER_03: What are your goals for um getting the product out there, you know, into Sephora, Ulta, all these big retailers?
- 32:23SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, do you have any plans um in the works or what what what can we expect next from the brand?
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, that is my dream.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: Um, Ulta, Sephora, that is my dream to be able to walk into one of those stores and have my product there.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Um, so we are working on getting the connections with the right people, but like you said, like a new business, new company, like I call people and they don't always answer.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: Like it's not like I'm a celebrity over here.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: So I would say that's been a pro a hard thing with our business is like how do I get connected with the right people?
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: Like I have this amazing thing, I'll fly there and I'll put them on whoever, like I'll do whatever I can to get these out there.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: And so I think that's like our next goal is getting an Ulta and Sephora.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: But um, yeah, if you have any tips to get us in there, we'd love to know.
- 33:16SPEAKER_03: I will do my best behind the scenes, you know.
- 33:18SPEAKER_03: I think you guys definitely deserve it.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, I've never seen a product like this, and I would definitely love to be a consumer walking into a store like that and then noticing that, you know, here's an option for me.
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: You know, it's it's a very, very like wonderful thing you've created here, especially for women who are busy.
- 33:35SPEAKER_03: We don't have time to sit around all day on social media and look up videos on how to apply lashes.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, but that's the reality, you know?
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: Like I'm in my mid-30s and I'm like, I still want to look, you know, kind of glammed up and stuff, but I just don't have the time to sit around and just look for advice, right?
- 33:52SPEAKER_03: Like yeah.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: Let me ask you a question.
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: Do you how many, how many tries did it take you to figure out ProLash?
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: Like, did were you able to figure it out pretty easily?
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: One.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: It took me one try.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: You got it on your first try.
- 34:05SPEAKER_03: I got on my first try.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: It was not hard.
- 34:08SPEAKER_03: It was like I that's amazing.
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: I looked at the steps and I followed the steps.
- 34:13SPEAKER_03: Like it's seriously, like I'm I mean, maybe because I'm a scientist, I don't know.
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: Like I just I was like, I'm very protocol-based, but it's like I looked at it, I was like, okay, got it.
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: This is how I did it.
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: You trim them up, you start from the inner side or the inner lash line, you go outwards, you know what I mean, and you just trim it to look like the way you want, and bam, done.
- 34:31SPEAKER_03: You know, it's like that's amazing.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: No, I yeah, I would say putting lashes on yourself, like a lot of people struggle with.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: And I've tried everything, right?
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: And I would say, like, by far, these are the easiest to put on.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: It's not just because it's my product, like we've just like the feedback we get from everyone is like they snap right into place.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: You're not waiting for adhesive to dry, they just snap right into place, and that's like that patented double adhesive system that makes them so easy to apply, they're so much easier than anything else.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they're not like super long, but they look like spider lashes.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: That's what I love.
- 35:09SPEAKER_03: It's like you don't even need to like trim them up like excessively.
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: You know how some lashes where it's like, oh my gosh, why are these five feet long?
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: You know, that kind of thing.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: Like they're not they're not like that.
- 35:20SPEAKER_03: Very natural.
- 35:22SPEAKER_03: Because you guys really nailed like the length, you know, from the get-go.
- 35:26SPEAKER_03: So there's even if you need to trim them, you won't have to do much trimming at all.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: Like it's very, very easy.
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: It's very like it's a natural process.
- 35:34SPEAKER_03: And this is for everyone listening, you know.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: I know that you know, lashes and you know, eye makeup and everything is kind of a scary place for a lot of consumers.
- 35:42SPEAKER_03: But trust me, like when I tell you that this is a very like intuitive process.
- 35:47SPEAKER_03: And so when you're going through it, you know, as Zach asked me, you know, how many times it really did.
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: It took me one try, it worked.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: And the best thing is that, you know, once they're on, you can know you know exactly where you want to touch them up, you know exactly where you want to trim up a little bit, or you know what you want in terms of the shaping and and whatnot.
- 36:06SPEAKER_03: So it's very, very easy.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: So please don't be scared.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: Try these lashes.
- 36:10SPEAKER_03: I promise you it's gonna be a different experience than maybe some of the other experiences you've had.
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: And yeah, I mean, I I'm a huge fan.
- 36:18SPEAKER_03: I'm so happy.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: I will send you them whenever you need them.
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: Just let me know.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're the right thing.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: We also we spent so much time on these first three books, like you know, uh like Haley and our team of professionals.
- 36:31SPEAKER_02: I mean, they just they focus in on getting these styles just perfect.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: Um, and then we've kind of we've been in the background, we've been working a lot on new styles, and we have 15 new styles that we're gonna be launching over the next few months.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: And these new styles, what I'm so shocked by is that the people that have been testing them, trying them, they're actually saying that they like some of them more than the original three that we did, which is amazing to me because it's like, oh my gosh, this is I thought that those were gonna be unbeatable.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: So I'm excited to see as we get other styles, we'll send it to you, and you can try them as well.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, I would love to.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: What that's so cool, Zach.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: And you know, honestly, I love the point.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: I think it was you that mentioned it earlier about the hot idea of like, you know, a more cat eye look, like you're making lashes that can allow you to have more of this cat eye.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: I am so excited to see what you guys come out with because I know the cat eye look is the one that everyone struggles with.
- 37:26SPEAKER_03: Like they can't figure out the liner, they can't figure out the look, and it's just like you know, it's a massive problem for so many consumers.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: So I'm really excited to see all of the new renditions that you have of the lashes.
- 37:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that'll be cool for sure.
- 37:41SPEAKER_02: Well, we'll have to we'll keep you posted on it.
- 37:43SPEAKER_02: And yeah, there's there's uh wispy looks, and that's the other kind of fun thing is that there's a lot of like trans in lashes for those that are like really ingrained in in what's going on.
- 37:53SPEAKER_02: Um, a big one that's been popular right now is wispy looks, and so we have a bunch of wispy looks that that our professionals have designed and created, and so we'll be able to create like all these cool new styles and um have them in a fun way that that women can try and and um you know see see how they like the new styles up.
- 38:11SPEAKER_02: And if they don't like them, they're not, you know, they're not stuck with them for for a month.
- 38:15SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: I I love that and I'm really excited to see everything.
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: And um, I also really would love down the line to see you guys come out with like, you know, lash um growth serums and stuff like that too, because I think you guys would nail that, you know, something like that even.
- 38:30SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, just I just can't wait to see the brand grow, is my point.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: You know, I I feel like every time I find entrepreneurs who are doing something right, I'm always excited to see, you know, what they come up with next and how the brand evolves.
- 38:42SPEAKER_03: So I'm definitely definitely going to be watching the space and and you know, uh looking for all of the new innovations coming from you guys.
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: Awesome.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: Well, thank you so much for everything.
- 38:54SPEAKER_03: No, thank you.
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: It's been such an honor, and I've absolutely loved hosting both of you.
- 38:58SPEAKER_03: Haley, um, you know, what what a wonderful job.
- 39:01SPEAKER_03: I'm so you know thrilled to hear that you took something that you were using to just get through college and made it a beautiful business.
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: This is so cool.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: I mean, I love hearing stories like that.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: So thank you for you know giving me this opportunity to introduce your brand to my listeners and for everyone listening.
