- 0:05Speaker 1: Now it's time to catch up with Country Weekly, where
- 0:08we check out news and gossip from the world of
- 0:10country music. I'm your host as always, Ken Dawkins, and
- 0:15I'll be reading from various sources found online. As a reminder,
- 0:19Radio I is a reading service intended for people who
- 0:22are blind or have other disabilities that make it difficult
- 0:25to read printed material. We'll begin with the first article,
- 0:28dated August fourth, from Saving Country Music, where we always
- 0:32get news and opinion. First up, Tyler Childers sees career
- 0:37high debut for snipe Hunter. Tyler Childers has set a
- 0:42personal best debut with his new album Snipe Hunter, released
- 0:45on July twenty five. The album debut is at number
- 0:48two on Billboard Country Albums Chart, disrupting the Morgan Wallen
- 0:52party at the top of the country, and also comes
- 0:54in at number seven on the All Genre of Billboard
- 0:57two hundred, a personal best for Tyler. His album Country
- 1:01Squire from two thousand nineteen hit number one in country
- 1:04upon its debut, but debuted on the Billboard two hundred
- 1:07at number twelve. This means this is the best showing
- 1:10for a Childer's title on the all genre charts. Snippotter
- 1:14also has the best debut showing of any Tyler any
- 1:17of Tyler's albums in regards to raw numbers. The album
- 1:20sold forty seven thousand, five hundred eighty five total units
- 1:23in physical albums and streaming equivalents, beating his previous high
- 1:28of thirty two thousand for country. Squire. Tyler's twenty twenty
- 1:32two album Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven debuted
- 1:35with twenty seven thousand units sold and number three in country.
- 1:39Twenty twenty three's Rustin and the Rain debuted at number
- 1:42four in country. Snippotter sold twenty six thousand, nine hundred
- 1:46and thirty five in physical album sales, along with twenty
- 1:49five point five million audio streams. This gives Childer's top
- 1:53honors in physical sales in country and puts him at
- 1:56number two all genre, behind Korean band tomorrow X. Together
- 2:01in equivalent album sales, Childress was beaten out in country
- 2:04by Morgan Wallen's Mammoth I'm the Problem. With its thirty
- 2:08seven tracks, Wallin occupies the number three and number four
- 2:11spots on Billboard Country Album's chart as well. Shaboozi helps
- 2:16round out the top five with where I've Been Isn't
- 2:19Where I'm Going. Produced by Rick Ruben and assistance from
- 2:22Nick Sanborn, Snipehunter has stimulated great conversation, if nothing else.
- 2:27Though many critics have lauded the record, reception among country
- 2:30fans has been mixed, making Saving Country Music to declare
- 2:34it the most polarizing album of Tyler Childer's career. But
- 2:38sometimes conversation can be the best thing for a record.
- 2:41It also helps that Snipehunter includes thirteen tracks, where his
- 2:45last albums only had eight and then seven songs, respectively.
- 2:49The strong debut comes on the eighth anniversary of Tyler's
- 2:52best selling album of all time, twenty seventeen's Purgatory, which
- 2:56sits at number thirty two on the Billboard Country Album's Chart,
- 3:00a passing many newer titles in country, including Tyler's own Purgatory.
- 3:04Is a good reminder that the proof of an album's
- 3:06success often isn't measured in weeks, but years. Purgatory debuted
- 3:11at number seventeen, but ended uprising to number nine over
- 3:14time and still remains one of the most popular albums
- 3:17in all of country music. The story of Snipehunter is
- 3:20just getting started, but so far it's off to a
- 3:22Good Start. Next, Zach Topp reveals details of new album,
- 3:27Ain't in It for My Health, saving country music's reigning
- 3:31Artist of the Year, revealed the title and release date
- 3:34of his new album, Ain't in It for My Health
- 3:37back in early June, to be released on upstart label
- 3:40LEO thirty three on August twenty ninth. The album comes
- 3:44highly anticipated after Zaktop's twenty twenty four album Cold Beer
- 3:47in Country Music became his big breakout and saw neo
- 3:51traditional country music return to the top of the charts,
- 3:54including Zach's number one radio song I Never Lie Now.
- 3:58Zak top Is revealed the fifteen song track list along
- 4:02with pre orders for the album that come with a twist.
- 4:05Goes ordering the double LP version of the vinyl version,
- 4:08that is, and either the standard Black or the Blood
- 4:11Moon Red will also receive a bonus track. Just like
- 4:14Zachtop's music, He's going old School, offering a vinyl only
- 4:18track along with the Alan Jackson inspired summar anthem good
- 4:21Times in tan Lines. Zach Top has also released the
- 4:24song South of Sanity from the new record. Once again,
- 4:28Zack Top is caught revitalizing sounds and modes of nineties
- 4:31country but unlike the saccharin good Times in tan Lines,
- 4:35South of Sanity evokes memories of all those good old
- 4:37rodeo heartbreak songs made famous by George Strait and many others,
- 4:43just like his last album, Ain't in It for My
- 4:44Health will be produced by Carson Chamberlain, who's Zacktop's Ace
- 4:48in the Hole. Chamberlain is a Kentucky native that played
- 4:51steel guitar and was the band leader for Keith Whitley
- 4:53all the way up to Whitley's death in nineteen eighty nine.
- 4:57Carson was also the tour manager for Alan Jacks and
- 5:00Clint Black. He knows how to evoke that neo traditional
- 5:03sound because he helped create it. Carson Chamberlain also co
- 5:07writes many of Zaktop's songs with zach including good Times
- 5:10in Tan Lines and South of Sanity. Though we don't
- 5:13have the full slate of co writers for the album
- 5:15just yet, we do know that Mark Nessler and Wyatt
- 5:18mccobbn also appear in the song credits. Zachtop's popularity definitely
- 5:23speaks to the swelling appetite for country music that sounds
- 5:26country in both old and young listeners. Ahead of the album,
- 5:30Zach Top has had to start booking arenas in certain
- 5:32markets to meet demand. Ain't in It for My Health
- 5:36is available for pre order in Black vinyl and Blood
- 5:39Moon vinyl and on CD. The track list Guitar good
- 5:44Times in Tan Lines, when You See Me, Splitsville, Between
- 5:48the Ditches, Flip Flop, Livin' a Lie, Tightrope, I Know
- 5:52a Place she makes South of Sanity like I Want You,
- 5:55Country Boy Blues, Loving the Wrong Things, Honky Tonk Till
- 5:59It Hurts, and the bonus track It's a Vinyl exclusive. Next,
- 6:05Miss Country Soul and opry legend Genie Seely, has died.
- 6:10With the loss of Genie Seely, country music doesn't just
- 6:13lose a singer, songwriter, and performer. It loses one of
- 6:17the most venerable, most beloved, and most important ties to
- 6:20country music's enduring legacy. One of the most revered women
- 6:23to ever grace the genre and one of the most
- 6:25accomplished and constant voices of the grand old opry for
- 6:28a better part of a century, Miss Country Soul and
- 6:31the modern era's mother of the opry, passed on August first,
- 6:35at the age of eighty five. Before Miss Cili took
- 6:38her final bow, she made an incredible five thousand, three
- 6:41hundred ninety seven appearances on the Grand Old Opry, a
- 6:44record that might never be eclipsed. At the time of
- 6:48her death, she was considered the oldest living woman in
- 6:50country music. With an active career an actor, an author,
- 6:54a DJ, and as a natural master of ceremonies wherever
- 6:58she appeared. Genie Seely's legacy stretched well beyond the opry
- 7:02in country music, but it's within the country community that
- 7:05she worked so hard to keep so close knit where
- 7:07her passing is felt the most. Jeanie Seely's first home
- 7:11was in Titusville, Pennsylvania, where she was born July sixth,
- 7:14nineteen forty. Via a Philco console radio that looked more
- 7:19like a piece of furniture than an electronic device, Ceely
- 7:22would first hear the magic sounds of the Grand Old
- 7:24Opry beaming in from Nashville's WSM and fell fast in
- 7:28love with the music. By age eleven, she began performing
- 7:31on a local radio show via WMGW, but the age
- 7:35of sixteen, she moved to early TV with the appearances
- 7:39on WICU up in Erie, Pennsylvania. Early on, Sey was
- 7:43able to share the stage and meet artists such as
- 7:45Bill Monroe, Little Jimmy Dickens, and Gene Shephard, but saw
- 7:49it as a fantasy that she would ever get to
- 7:51perform on the Grand Old Opry beside them a cheerleader
- 7:54in high school. After she graduated, she worked for local
- 7:57companies in secretarial positions. At the the age of twenty one,
- 8:00decided to point her nose toward Los Angeles. Eventually, she
- 8:04took a job at Liberty and Imperial Records as a secretary.
- 8:08From there, she started writing songs for others and performing
- 8:11with another up and coming act in Glenn Campbell on
- 8:13the Hollywood Jamboree. In nineteen sixty four, Jeanie Seely was
- 8:17named the most Promising Female Artist by the West Coast
- 8:20centric Country and Western Academy, which later became known as
- 8:24the ACM Awards. Then, in nineteen sixty six, she released
- 8:27her big breakout single, Don't Touch Me. It was her
- 8:31soulful voice, unique to the country airwaves that earned her
- 8:34the name Miss Country Soul and launched her career into
- 8:37the mainstream. Though Celily would regularly enjoy occasional hits well
- 8:41into the late seventies, It really wasn't her chart success
- 8:44where she made her biggest impact. Becoming a member of
- 8:48the Grand Old Opry on September sixteenth, nineteen sixty seven.
- 8:51It began a partnership that would be one of the
- 8:53most significant in the country music's institution's long history. Ceely
- 8:57became the first woman's regularly hosts Seegmans on Opry shows.
- 9:01She wore the first mini skirt on the Opry stage,
- 9:04helping to usher the show into a new era. Soon,
- 9:07Seely and the Opry became synonymous with each other. Though
- 9:11she had other signature songs such as nineteen sixty seven's
- 9:14I'll Love You More Than You Need? Can I Sleep
- 9:16in Your Arms? And Lucky Ladies, it was really hearing
- 9:19Ceely's voice on Opry broadcast where many country music fans
- 9:23found favor with Miss Country Soul. Seely also found success
- 9:27in partnership with Jack Green, hitting number two with which
- 9:30I Didn't have to miss you Much Oblige and what
- 9:33in the world has gone wrong with Our Love? A
- 9:36big portion of Jeanie Seely's legacy that's often overlooked was
- 9:39her work as a songwriter. Songs written or co written
- 9:42by Ceely were recorded by Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Ernest Tubb,
- 9:46Farren Young, Little, Jimmy Dickens, Connie Smith, Hank Williams, Junior,
- 9:50Ray Price, Chris LaDou and Moore. She was also married
- 9:53to songwriting legend Hank Cochrane from nineteen sixty nine to
- 9:57nineteen seventy nine. Genie slay Ellie's acting career was also
- 10:01of note, including the stage productions of Patsy Klein and
- 10:04The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. She also appeared in
- 10:07Willie nelson film Honeysuckle Rose and sang on the soundtrack.
- 10:12When visiting Nashville and the Grand Old Opry, you'll see
- 10:14little markers all around the city in tribute to Genie
- 10:16Seely speaking to her legacy. The off ramp to the
- 10:20Grand Old Opry on Briley Parkway is affectionately known as
- 10:23the Genie Seely Interchange. She's commemorated on the Music City
- 10:28Walk of Fame. Studio space at the sag After Office
- 10:31on Music Row is named after her, but it's on
- 10:34the Grand Old Opry stage where most memories will lead
- 10:37back to. Whenever remembering Genie Seely, this is where her
- 10:40legacy shined and where she became a legend in country music,
- 10:43getting to perform next to the legends before her, like
- 10:45Bill Monroe, Little Jimmy Dickens, and Gene Shepperd. Along with
- 10:49funeral plans and the works, the Grand Old Opry has
- 10:51announced that the Saturday presentation on August second will be
- 10:54dedicated to its most prolific performer, segment host, and beloved
- 10:57family member Ill He is gone, but the contributions she
- 11:01made to the operay, to Nashville, and to the women
- 11:04of country music will live on through her memory. Moving along,
- 11:09Brian Setzer overcomes health issues Stray Cats plot new tour.
- 11:14One of the greatest guitar players in American history, says
- 11:17saving country music had us all spooked earlier this year
- 11:21when Brian Setzer let the public know he'd lost the
- 11:23ability to play guitar. On February thirteenth, the rockabilly legend
- 11:28told fans toward the end of the last Stray Cats tour,
- 11:31I noticed that my hands were cramping up. I've since
- 11:33discovered that I have an autoimmune disease. I cannot play guitar.
- 11:37There is no pain, but it feels like I'm wearing
- 11:39a pair of gloves when I try to play. This
- 11:42is one of the reasons no tour dates were posted
- 11:44for the first part of twenty twenty five, either for
- 11:47the sets or solo with his legendary band, the Stray Cats,
- 11:50or with the Brian sets Her Orchestra. But there is
- 11:54good news from the Rockabilly Star and March sets Her
- 11:57shared that he was making significant progress. I just want
- 12:00to let you know all that I am getting better
- 12:02every day. The progress I'm making is excellent. My dream
- 12:05is to visit Japan, the States and Europe with Stray Cats,
- 12:08and of course one of my biggest thrills would be
- 12:10bringing back the BSO Christmas Show edition. Thank you all
- 12:14for your love and support. It truly means the world
- 12:16to me. I was deeply touched. I love you guys,
- 12:19and only we can truly understand what the sound means
- 12:22to us. Then, on April fourth, sets Her share another
- 12:24positive update. Hey everybody, I sat down and actually played
- 12:27guitar last night. I played Rumble in the Brighton and
- 12:30it sounded pretty good. I thought let's push it a
- 12:32bit and I played two Hip Gotta Go. It also
- 12:35sounded pretty good. I could play the thing again. Not
- 12:37as well as I'd like, but not bad either. Now
- 12:40Brian Setzer has improved to the point where he's confident
- 12:43enough to book a brand new tour with the Stray
- 12:45Cats this fall. Joined by Upright bassist Lee Rocker and
- 12:48drummer Slim Jim Fantom, they'll be playing twenty one dates
- 12:52across the United States this fall. These will be the
- 12:54first date since the band's summer tour in twenty twenty four,
- 12:58and will include a trip to lieuvi B at the
- 13:00Louisville Palace on October twenty eighth. Now we move on
- 13:04over to the latest edition of Parade dot Com. The
- 13:09article dated August fourth, Kelly Clarkson abruptly stops Vegas show
- 13:13as she's left stunned on stage. Kelly Clarkson has officially
- 13:18kicked off her Las Vegas residency. During a performance over
- 13:21the weekend, the American Idol winner was taken aback in
- 13:24a beautiful moment that caused her to stop the show.
- 13:27As she and her band were gearing up to cover
- 13:29Creep by Radiohead, Clarkson was surprised by a beautiful segment
- 13:33played by the band Look nothing is Better than the original.
- 13:37I'm going to own that right now, but I'm going
- 13:40to do my best to just have fun with it,
- 13:42she told the audience. The band kicked off the beginning
- 13:45of the song and Clarkson stood on stage with her
- 13:47mouth open. Oh my god, I missed this part in rehearsal,
- 13:51she said, looking over at her band. That was so beautiful.
- 13:54I can't even believe it. We did this in soundcheck
- 13:57and you didn't do that. Can we do it again?
- 14:00Wasn't ready? That chart topper said? Do it again? I
- 14:02want to watch, Clarkson told the band. They restarted the song,
- 14:06and Clarkson couldn't help but note that what they did
- 14:08with the arrangement was beautiful. Last month, Clarkson made headlines
- 14:12when she canceled her first two shows of her Studio
- 14:14Sessions residency at Las Vegas Coliseum Theater at Caesar's Palace.
- 14:20It took me a minute. I'm sorry. I know some
- 14:21of you all had tickets for last weekend shows. I'm
- 14:23so sorry. We can't help our bodies sometimes, you know,
- 14:27we get sick, and that happens, she told the audience
- 14:29on opening night, which was moved to July eleventh, But
- 14:33thank you all for showing up. We're so excited. This
- 14:35is my favorite residency, my favorite show I've ever put together,
- 14:39because I love being in the studio, she added. Clarkson's
- 14:42residency runs through November fifteenth. Now we' s fly on
- 14:47over to countrynow dot com with the first article dated
- 14:50August fifth. Ella Langley refuses to use auto tune during
- 14:55her concerts. Ella Langley is as real as it gets.
- 15:00Anyone who comes to her live shows will know that.
- 15:03In today's world where almost everything can be edited to perfection,
- 15:06she's committed to giving her live audiences nothing but raw,
- 15:09unfiltered talent, even if that means having to embrace the
- 15:13occasional imperfect moment. During an appearance on The Bobby Bones Show,
- 15:17host Bobby Bones pointed out how the ability to record
- 15:20and share every moment of a live concert on social
- 15:23media adds a new level of pressure that performers didn't
- 15:26face in the past. Back in three years ago, you
- 15:30could go into a live show and that's kind of
- 15:32where the pressure was off. You could just perform or
- 15:35not have to worry about the idiosyncrasies. But now all
- 15:38of that has to be paid attention to because all
- 15:40the recorded. It's all recorded all the time, Bones pointed out.
- 15:44Langley then chimed in to explain that the industry's obsession
- 15:47with flawless presentation to the world has made listeners forget
- 15:51what real live music actually sounds like. I think, what's
- 15:55so hard about that too? Is everything so perfect that
- 15:57you see now, every picture has been edited, every song
- 16:00has auto tune, not only in the vocals but most
- 16:03of the instruments. Everything's so perfect presented to you that
- 16:06live music is almost like, oh God, that sounds like
- 16:08a live vocal, and people are getting less and less
- 16:11familiar with what live vocal sounds like. In her experience
- 16:15behind the scenes, she's found that plenty of artists are
- 16:17still using live autotune to process their voice in real
- 16:21time and make it sound better during their performances. Langley
- 16:25says this is a method that's not something she can
- 16:27get behind, nor will she ever turn to that option.
- 16:31That's something I'm never going to do. I don't want
- 16:33to do that. She emphasized that you look like you
- 16:36love me. Singer even recalled a moment when another artist
- 16:38assumed she'd eventually cave into taking part in what's become
- 16:41the industry standard, but her response made it clear that
- 16:45authenticity is non negotiable when it comes to her career.
- 16:49I had an artist come up to me last year
- 16:51and he was watching my show and he was like, yeah,
- 16:53he's like, got a great show. He's like, well, one
- 16:56day when you start running tune and things on your show.
- 17:00I was like, I'm not going to do that. He's like, yeah,
- 17:02you will. Everyone does that. You're going to do it,
- 17:04and I said, no, I'm not with that. Fans will
- 17:08get nothing but her true vocals, and sometimes that could
- 17:11mean she's not at her best. But regardless, that's the
- 17:13kind of realness Langley wants to bring to each show,
- 17:17no auto tune. She continued, I think this is just
- 17:20something to be just honest with out there. Sometimes I'm
- 17:22going to forget some lyrics, and there's sometimes my voice
- 17:25is pitcher than others, pitchier than others, I'm out of breath.
- 17:29But that's just a live show that's coming to where
- 17:31we are. I'm running around on stage performing a song
- 17:34and we're standing still, or I'm emotional, or there's wind
- 17:36or who knows. But that's kind of what's fun about
- 17:39seeing an artist live is that you get imperfections, you
- 17:42get to see them as who they are as an artist,
- 17:45as a person, not perfect. Just here. Singing is the
- 17:50only way Ella Langley has ever paid her bills. In college,
- 17:53she cut her teeth playing covers in local bars and
- 17:55then eventually made her way to Nashville in hopes of
- 17:57taking her songwriting skills to the next level. Sang everywhere
- 18:01all the time. I had a cousin that worked at
- 18:03the dentist that made me get up and sing after
- 18:05my appointments. I just always wanted to do it. I
- 18:08had a passion for it. She shared That leap of
- 18:11faith proved to be worth it, as she is now
- 18:14thriving a thriving name in country music. Earlier this year,
- 18:17she was nominated at the twenty twenty five ACM Awards
- 18:21Most Awarded Artist of the Year and took home wins
- 18:23for New Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year,
- 18:26Musical Event of the Year, and Visual Media of the
- 18:28Year for her viral hit You Look Like You Love
- 18:31Me featuring Riley Green. Most recently, Langley celebrated the rise
- 18:35of her RIAA Gold certified hit Weren't for the Wind,
- 18:39which marked her first solo number one. She is currently
- 18:43on the road with Morgan Wallen and will continue her
- 18:45sold out Still Hungover headline tour this fall. Next Chris
- 18:51Young shares new details about I Didn't Come Here to
- 18:54Leave out October seventh. As fans eagerly await the release
- 18:59of Young's new album I Didn't Come Here to Leave
- 19:02on October seventeenth, the country star is giving them even
- 19:05more to look forward to by revealing new details, including
- 19:08the official track list. His tenth studio album will feature
- 19:12fourteen tracks, eleven of which Young co wrote. The project
- 19:16reunites him with longtime collaborators like Chris Stefano and Josh Hoague,
- 19:21maintaining the creative chemistry fans know and love. The album
- 19:25also marks Young's first release under his new label, Black
- 19:28River Entertainment, and he promises it will offer something for everyone.
- 19:32On a record, a lot gets made of how many
- 19:35tempos and how many ballads, as opposed to just making
- 19:37a record from top to bottom that you've fallen in
- 19:39love with. But that's all I've ever tried to do.
- 19:42Young explained, I look at this album and there are
- 19:45songs that make you want to buy a beer. There's
- 19:47songs that if you broke up with somebody, you're going
- 19:49to want to cry for different reasons. I feel like
- 19:51this is a complete album, and it would be a
- 19:53disservice to Black River if I didn't turn in something
- 19:56I believed in this way. Young recently held the title
- 20:00track I Didn't Come Here to Leave, which he co
- 20:03wrote with Dallas Davidson and Kyle Fisherman, along with the
- 20:05lead single Till the Last One Dies, an outside cut
- 20:09written by Ben Hayslip, Seth Moseley, and Jordan Walker. These tracks,
- 20:13combined with the remaining songs fans I've yet to hear,
- 20:16make up what Young believes is one of his best
- 20:18albums to date at this point my career. I hope
- 20:22someone listens to this album and says, wow, he dug deep.
- 20:24Young previously stated, the funny thing is I'm here saying yeah,
- 20:28it's one of the best things I've ever made, and
- 20:30I believe it wholeheartedly. It's wild to step back and
- 20:33see a really long list of things I've gotten to
- 20:35do already. But I didn't come here to leave. The
- 20:39track listings some around here. I didn't come here to leave.
- 20:42Good as yours. I hope it's okay. I feel a
- 20:45cold coming on. No, that's I feel a cold one coming.
- 20:49Hunt till the last one dies. Pour some whiskey on it,
- 20:52boots on the ground, tin roof, dirt and daisies. Just
- 20:56keep living, Jesus, Mama, Country Radio. What would you take
- 20:59and break legs? Next? Old Dominion pauses show for emotional
- 21:05moment with young fan holding sign for Mishu Man. Old
- 21:09Dominion took a break from their high energy set during
- 21:12a recent stop on their How Good Is That World
- 21:14Tour when something in the crowd caught their attention. Fans
- 21:18often bring signs into their shows as a way to
- 21:20share stories or request songs, but one in particular ended
- 21:24up bringing the Grief Center tune Missu Man to life
- 21:26in a powerful new way. In a new video gaining
- 21:29traction across Old Dominion's official social media platforms, a young
- 21:34fan named Jordan can be seen standing tightly against the
- 21:37rails of the pit with a clear view of the
- 21:38stage as the band delivered their show. She held up
- 21:41a poster that featured the title of their latest release
- 21:44in big black letters, surrounded by personal family photos. The
- 21:48lead vocalist of the CMA and ACM Award winning band
- 21:51Matt Ramsey hit pause on the music and made his
- 21:54way over to the side of the stage closest to
- 21:56where the young girl was standing. The sign over here
- 21:59has and distracting me all night long, he admitted, before
- 22:02asking to get closer and look at the poster. Jordan
- 22:07proudly confirmed that the photos were of her dad, who
- 22:09has passed. She accompanied the sweet images with the title
- 22:12misshue Man as a way to ask the band to
- 22:15play the tune in his honor. This was the perfect
- 22:18song choice, says The storyline offers a deeply emotional tribute
- 22:21to a lost loved one and the struggles of grief
- 22:24showing up in unexpected moments. I had a feeling that
- 22:27was your daddy. Thank you for bringing this sign and
- 22:30showing us. I'm sure you miss him very much, but
- 22:33he's here and I can feel him. Man. Thank you,
- 22:35Ramsey stated again, before adding, we're going to play this
- 22:38song for you. This was just one example of many
- 22:41stories of the band says they've received since dropping misschu Mann.
- 22:45We get a lot of comments on people I've lost
- 22:48my brother, my mom, whatever, Everyone has experienced a loss. Unfortunately,
- 22:52you got to go and move through it. Ramsey told
- 22:54Country Now when discussing the powerful sentimental song fellow Old
- 22:58Dominion member Trevor ro Ed I love that song so much,
- 23:02but I think when we wrote it, I didn't immediately think, hey,
- 23:04this sounds like our band. I just love this. But
- 23:07when you do find something that hits you personally and
- 23:10seems to connect, people connect with it right off The
- 23:12bad mischu Mann is one of several deeply weighted tracks
- 23:16that appear on Old Dominion's upcoming album, Barbara, and further
- 23:20adds to what's expected to be their most personal project yet.
- 23:23Band member Brad Tercy explained, at this point in their
- 23:26lives and careers, they've never been more comfortable in being
- 23:29vulnerable and honest about their personal experiences through their music.
- 23:33Nothing's off the table. Tersey noted on August twenty second,
- 23:37the band will unleash their sixth studio album, featuring thirteen
- 23:40songs that make up a journey of reflection, hitting on
- 23:43themes of life, love, and mortality. Alongside the album, Old
- 23:47Dominion is in the midst of their massive How Good
- 23:49Is That World Tour. They've been hitting amphitheaters and arenas
- 23:52nationwide throughout the summer and will continue to make their
- 23:55way around the US through September before heading overseas in October. Next,
- 24:02the Grand Old Opry unveils Who's Going to Fill Their
- 24:05Shoes Display honoring Scotty McCreary, Josh Turner and Randy Travis.
- 24:11Randy Travis, Josh Turner and Scotty McCreary shared an unforgettable
- 24:15moment on the iconic Grand Old Opry stage back on
- 24:18April twentieth, twenty twenty four, as McCreary was officially inducted
- 24:22into the Opry family. His musical heroes Turner and Travis
- 24:26stood by his side to help welcome him into this
- 24:28legendary circle. Now, that special night has been commemorated at
- 24:32the Opry with a brand new display that documents the
- 24:35moment in a unique and meaningful way. Titled Who's Going
- 24:38to Fill Their Shoes and nod to the George Jones classic,
- 24:42the display features the actual shoes worn by all three
- 24:45artists on the night of McCreary's induction. The exhibit symbolizes
- 24:49three generations of Opry greatness and pays tribute to Josh
- 24:52Turner's emotional speech in in which he quoted lyrics from
- 24:56the iconic Jones song. While celebrating McCreary's place in country
- 25:00music history that night, Turner shared, I stand here tonight
- 25:04proud of the fact that I bridge the gap between
- 25:06the generation of Randy Travis and Scotty McCreery. Only time
- 25:10will tell who will be inspired by Scotty. While standing
- 25:13on the Opry stage, Turner then shared the chorus of
- 25:15George Jones, Who's going to fill their shoes? Who's going
- 25:18to fill their shoes? Who's going to stand that tall,
- 25:21who's going to play the opry and the Wabash cannonball?
- 25:24Who's going to give their heart and soul to me?
- 25:26To get me? And you? Lord? I wonder who's going
- 25:28to fill their shoes. Turner later added, Scotty is not
- 25:32only a fine singer and a songwriter, but he's a
- 25:34great man, husband and now farther. I'm proud of him
- 25:37and proud he is filling the shoes of the artists
- 25:39before him. With artists like him, country music is in
- 25:42great shape. The display includes mccrary's black Lucy Lucasse boots,
- 25:47Travis black low top converse shoes, and Turner's square toed ariat,
- 25:51cowboy boots and an autographed copy of the speech Turner
- 25:55read aloud on stage that evening, alongside a photo of
- 25:59the new display. Turner reflected on that evening on social media, writing,
- 26:03the Grand Old Opry came up with the idea for
- 26:05this very cool display, and when I saw it for
- 26:07the first time, I was really moved. This night will
- 26:10always be a highlight of my career. I was honored
- 26:13Scotty mc creary asked me to induct him, and I
- 26:16was honored to have my hero Randy Travis standing by
- 26:18my side. Mc creary later shared, I will always be
- 26:21honored at the Opry created this backstage display of the
- 26:24boots and shoes that Josh Turner, Randy Travis, and I
- 26:27wore when they inducted me into the Opry last year.
- 26:30Fans can viewed the display during backstage tours of the
- 26:33Grand Old Opry. And finally, Jesse Murph stuns with emotional
- 26:38cover of Miranda Lambert's tin Man. Jesse Murph is turning
- 26:42heads with her stunning rendition of Miranda Lambert's tin Man.
- 26:46Clips circulating on tik tok showed the twenty year old
- 26:49delivering a heartfelt performance of the emotional ballad during a
- 26:52sound check for her worldwide Hysteria tour. Wearing casual sweats,
- 26:57Murphy efforts he pours emotion into the lyric, which tell
- 27:00the story of a girl who warns the tin Man,
- 27:02a nod to the Wizard of Oz, that he's better
- 27:05off without a heart because he doesn't have to experience
- 27:07the pain of heartbreve. The Tin Man was written by
- 27:10Lambert with Jack Ingram and Joe Randall, and featured on
- 27:14her sixth studio album, The Weight of These Things, released
- 27:17in twenty sixteen. The song took home the title of
- 27:20ACM Song of the Year. Back in twenty eighteen, Murph
- 27:24was introduced to country fans through High Road, her chart
- 27:27topping duet with country rocker Cowetzel. The collaboration landed her
- 27:31a nod as the ACM New Female Artist of the
- 27:33Year in early twenty twenty five. However, Murph has made
- 27:37it clear that she does not consider herself a country artist.
- 27:41She previously opened up to Country Now about the mind
- 27:43blowing nomination. I was not expecting it. I didn't feel
- 27:47like I'm a country artist. I was a little bit
- 27:49like what, But I'm happy to be here and happy
- 27:51to be supporting everybody. She shared. Honestly, Murph is dabbled
- 27:54in various genres and plans to continue to do so.
- 27:57I think that's why I was a little shocked, because
- 27:59it's a mix of a bunch of different things. It's
- 28:02mostly just the stuff I grew up listening to. I'm
- 28:04from Alabama, so I heard a lot of country growing up,
- 28:07but I also heard a lot of rap and a
- 28:08lot of pop and all this stuff. So it's just
- 28:11a culmination of all that, I'd say, she told us Jesse.
- 28:14Murph's latest album, Sex Hysteria, is out now. Well. This
- 28:18concludes the reading of Country Weekly for this week. If
