- 0:01SPEAKER_01: And now it's time for the Elise Richmond Show, right here on WNAU.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: And now, without further ado, here's Elise.
- 0:11SPEAKER_03: Good morning, everybody.
- 0:13SPEAKER_03: Welcome to the Elise Richmond Show.
- 0:14SPEAKER_03: It's Tuesday morning.
- 0:15SPEAKER_03: It's 11 o'clock.
- 0:17SPEAKER_03: We're ready to go here.
- 0:18SPEAKER_03: Time for the Elise Richmond Show, which is conservatively speaking and saying exactly what you are thinking.
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much this morning for listening.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: Let us first recognize some sponsors, the Pontiau County Republican Women and Colonel Gannon Burton's Mississippi for America.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: First, the Elise Richmond Show is very excited that Colonel Gannon Burton is running for Mississippi Senate.
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: That is a good thing.
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: And the Elise Richmond Show is also very excited about our guest this morning, who is Mississippi House of Representative members since 2016, Representative Dan Eubanks.
- 0:56SPEAKER_03: We'll be bringing Representative Eubanks here in just a few minutes.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: Bob Richmond is also here this morning.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: And all of you listeners, you know exactly what Bob and I are going to be talking about.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: First thing this morning, OMG, with a million exclamation points.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: OMG, it was very, very, huh.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: I can't even give you words to describe that game, that football game, that O Miss versus LSU football game on Saturday night at 6.30.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: I have never seen any more excited fans.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: I have never seen a more beautiful stadium and the flyovers and the flag and the Star Spangled Banner and the band and the music and the everything.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: It was quite incredible.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: I've had such a good time this morning looking at Facebook.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: I'm not a great big Facebook.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: I don't go to Facebook every day, every second.
- 1:52SPEAKER_03: I don't live on it and send stuff out all the time.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: Every once in a while I do, especially trying to get people to listen to the Elise Richmond show this morning, let them know we're going on uh on a Tuesday morning.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: But boy boy, this morning I started looking at it.
- 2:08SPEAKER_03: And some of the funniest things about Lane Kiffin.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: Lane Kiffin is the brunt of everybody's joke right now.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: Poor little tigers.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, Miss Beat You.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: We beat LSU.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: It was so exciting.
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: And uh Lane Kivin brought his$55 million LSU team into our stadium, and my rebels beat them 32 to 24 in one of the most exciting games that I have ever seen in a very, very long time.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: The buildup to the game was incredible.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: All the football shows in the grove, everybody was having a great time, the fans, the students.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: Everyone came early.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: They started partying in the morning because all of those TV shows, the SEC and the national TV shows, were all in the grove.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: And they were showing all of the people, of course, we all know about the chandeliers and these beautiful displays of food and everything.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: I got real tickled.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Some guy had some Heisman trophy thing.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: He was trying to show the TV camera.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: He threw it behind and hit the deviled eggs.
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: And I wonder how quickly they could put those deviled eggs back together.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: But it was good.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: Anyone that knows there is no place to party like O Miss and the Grove, absolutely no one can match it, even though they try.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: Every SEC school wants to come to the Grove.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: Every one of them wants to set up their school to do something like the Grove.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: And there is just nothing like it.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: Uh, there's something totally exciting.
- 3:37SPEAKER_03: It's the real party.
- 3:40SPEAKER_03: And when the last whistle blew and Ole Miss won that game, I have never in my life been happier to have Ole Miss win a game ever, ever, ever.
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: Last year there was some that I just was so excited about, but this beat it all.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: The fans deserved the win.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: Coach Golding, he deserved the win, and most of all that Ole Miss Rebel team deserved the win.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: And it was a beautiful win.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: It meant so very much to all of us because of everything that Lane Kiffin did to everybody last year when he left our rebels and he left O'Miss and he left Oxford.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: And the team was winning.
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: The team was on its way, and Lane Kiffin just left.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: It was the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: Now, if he had decided he was going to get another job and announced it fine, but he should have stuck with it, we all know that.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: And then just left.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: But no, he had to be nasty, he had to be hurtful, he had to leave in the middle of everything and pillage the coaches and the players and stabbed Ole Miss in the back, as far as I'm concerned.
- 4:44SPEAKER_03: So, Ole Miss rebels deserved that win.
- 4:47SPEAKER_03: All of the nation, I mean the whole United States of America, all eyes were on that rebel game rooting for Ole Miss, especially Tennessee fans.
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: All of USC fans, in fact, everybody was rooting for O Miss, but L S U.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: Anyway, even God wanted O Miss to win.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: So thank you, God.
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: What a wonderful present you gave the O Miss Rebels.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: The quarterback, Trinidad Chamblis, had an incredible day.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: So did many of the other players.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: Trailon Ray, Alexander, Deuce Alexander, Kewan Lacey.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: You just can't name them all.
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: They all did so well.
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: Everyone was worried about the defense, and everybody ragged about the defense, and all those commentators ragged about the defense.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: And that was going to be the worst thing in the world for O Miss, and the best thing in the world for LSU was their defense, and they were so tough, and on and on and on.
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: And we all know that they never give Ole Miss credit for anything.
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: Even Trinidad Chambler said that.
- 5:49SPEAKER_03: Bless his heart.
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: He said, We're never uh giving credit for anything, and I really don't understand why.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: That's what he said.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: And I don't understand it either.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: I kind of know in a way, but um I think it's just flat out jealousy.
- 6:03SPEAKER_03: That's all.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: They're jealous of the growth, they're jealous of the campus, they're jealous of how absolutely much, much, much we love and adore our team, and we love and adore Ole Miss, and it all shows it's in our hearts, and it's not that there aren't other people, other alumni of other universities that love their spot, their place, their team, their school.
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: But O Miss has got it special.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: They always have.
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: From the first time I walked on that campus, I knew I was in a very, very special place.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: And then we know that um everybody, everybody stepped up.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: And I'm so proud of the whole team, and I'm so proud of the fans.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: Everybody was thinking, oh my gosh, what are they gonna do?
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: I'm so scared.
- 6:45SPEAKER_03: I can't go to the game.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh, what's gonna happen?
- 6:47SPEAKER_03: The fans showed the class that the omus rebels have.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: They're a classy group and they sure showed it.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: And I've never heard louder booing in my life when Lane Giffen came out on the field.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: And the funniest of all the signs in the growth, if y'all remember that song, You're so vain, I bet you think this song is about you.
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: Somebody had a uh sign that said, You're so lame, lame, I bet you think this game is about you.
- 7:14SPEAKER_03: And don't you know he did?
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: Oh my lands.
- 7:16SPEAKER_03: Anyway, Ole Miss dominated the first half.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: The third half was or the our the third quarter, rather, was scary.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: But in the end, wow, it was fabulous and it was totally exciting.
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: And Omis dominated in every category but rushing.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: And uh Trinidad completed 33 of 48 passes, in my most humble opinion, the LSU quarterback Sam Levitt.
- 7:39SPEAKER_03: We'll see how he does in future games, but he was touted to be the best thing since applesauce, and um he wasn't, he just wasn't, and I thank God again for that because he might be and just didn't show it.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: And I might also add that the oldness coach, Peach Go Pete Golding, was a top ten wins.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: He is a top ten wins since he's been head coach, and he's only been head coach since December.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: And Bob's gonna talk more about all that because Bob likes getting into the the statistics.
- 8:15SPEAKER_03: Another thing I loved was Omis has won four out of the last six games against LSU.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: But of course, nobody says that.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, you poor little old tigers, I feel so bad.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: So I was happier with Saturday night and the Omis Rebels, and I was thrilled to be a graduate of the University of Mississippi, and that will never change.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: Um Bob Richmond's here.
- 8:39SPEAKER_03: Bob Richmond, what say you about that game?
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Well, it was a wonderful game to go to, and I was so fortunate to be there.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: We thank our friends who invited us.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: And the thing that I love about this is you know, Pete Golden has more wins against top ten teams than Lane Kiffin has.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: Now, Kiffin's been doing this since 2009.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: A head coach, yeah, and Golding has been doing it since last December.
- 9:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: And look at that stat.
- 9:11SPEAKER_03: Who says anything about that stat on national TV?
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Who's the better coach?
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Who's the better football coach?
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: In my mind, there's no way that Lane Kiffen is any good.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: He's terrible.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Thank goodness he decided he had such a big ego that he was going to LSU.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: And thank goodness LSU was so stupid to go ahead and pay him so much money to take him.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's it's a crazy thing.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: And the other thing that I was so upset about when I was watching that national final thing that they do every Saturday night where they do the top uh games and they give all the scores and everything on the finals, and uh all the time that they were talking about the OMS LSU football game, and all the time they were talking about all the stats, all of the big picture behind those two announcers was Lane Kiffin and LSU.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: They didn't win, folks.
- 10:03SPEAKER_03: Gotta tell you right now, they didn't win.
- 10:05SPEAKER_03: I'm actually gonna look into a um um a way to write a letter directly to them and just tell them that I was very disappointed in their coverage.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: They're so biased.
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: I hate it if they're so biased.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: What they've got to understand is Lane Kiffin is no longer the story.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: He's not has been.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: He's washed up.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: I I believe he'll be two years at LSU and then go to some other great job like I don't know, Fresno State.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Fresno State.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: Oh my lands.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: He'll say, I'll go back to where I all started.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: That's my job I wanted all along.
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: Well, I don't even know if he'll last two years.
- 10:41SPEAKER_03: I guess he has to to see if he can take him to a national championship.
- 10:44SPEAKER_03: And maybe he can.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: Maybe he can.
- 10:46SPEAKER_03: Maybe they really are good, and everything was every little thing was in O Miss's favor in O Miss's corner on Saturday night.
- 10:54SPEAKER_03: Maybe.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Here's one of the problems I see in college football today.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: These kids are paid so much money, this$55 million team.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Unless you're paid so much money, their heads are so big.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: These are 18, 19, and 20-year-old kids.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: They get done with the game and they get in their Lamborghini and they drive home.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: Who cares?
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Who cares how well they played or not?
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: They've got it made.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: They don't even have to make it to the pros.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Before when college, they had to come out, give 110%.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: They had to prove themselves.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they had to go to get the big money in the pros, they had to play hard every single weekend, 100%.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: A lot of these kids are, hey, they've got their money.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: You know, they're cruising.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: They don't have to play hard.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: And I think LSU believed all the press that they got.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: And it's gonna be a problem for them for the rest of the year.
- 11:50SPEAKER_03: A problem for who, O.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Miss LSU.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: LSU, thank you.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: Because I don't think it's a problem for O Miss.
- 11:56SPEAKER_03: I think we've got some really grounded people.
- 11:59SPEAKER_03: Trinidad Chambliss is a very grounded young man.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: He's grounded in his faith, he's grounded with his family.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: You can see it all over him, and he's very calm about everything.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: And I think he truly is a leader, so the team would follow that vibe.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: And most of the team at Ole Miss is like that.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: They're not these big-headed players.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: Pete Golding doesn't allow that to happen.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Now you look at LSU and Lane Kiffin.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Lane Kiffin goes after the players that best fits his program with big egos like himself, and he he allows them to be that way.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: And they just aren't gonna perform for him.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: You know, and that's why college recruiters are gonna have to look for these fine moral, outstanding kids who love the game of football, who don't love the money.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Everybody enjoys money, but who don't love the money as much as they love the sport and the game of football.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: And the university.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: There there's absolutely no loyalty to the university more, and I think Trinidad Chandless has got the loyalty to OMIS.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: There are so many of them that do, but there are a bunch that don't.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: It's all about the money now, and I think it's a very sad thing.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: Uh I think it'll be interesting to see what they end up doing in uh legally and what are bill-wise with uh what happens in Washington when they all come back and they're all they're supposed to be talking about passing it this week.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: And there's a lot of good things in there that they really need to pass because the NCAA can't deal with it.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're they're what are they doing?
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: They're kind of like lost.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: They've lost it.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Well, they've lost it.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Again, the lawyers have gotten involved, and the lawyers and the big money, it's just taken over, and the NCA just got trampled.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: So they need to have the laws, and some of the laws is you get one transfer, you know, there's all sorts of things that are good in that, which will bring the game back to earth.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: I hope it does come back to earth because there's nothing that has been well, oh, miss has been such a part of my life.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: Since I graduated there, it was never out of my heart, and it's been such a part of my life.
- 14:17SPEAKER_03: And you don't see that when you would from people now, and you used to see it with people that played for the teams.
- 14:25SPEAKER_03: They were doing it, I know, for themselves, maybe for their families, for whatever, but they were doing it for their team and the university.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: And I think that that's something being an OMS alumni that has followed me my whole life.
- 14:40SPEAKER_03: Um I knew that I was gonna come back here.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: I spent almost, what, 30 years, 40 years in California.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: I don't know my whole almost my whole life.
- 14:50SPEAKER_03: And I truly knew, though, at some point I was coming back to O Miss.
- 14:56SPEAKER_03: And it was because I loved it so much when the first time I stepped on the campus.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: So I have this loyalty and I know what it's meant to me.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: It's meant friends forever.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: It's meant sorority sisters that I love, that I'm still in touch with.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: I'm going to Oxford Thursday to meet a bunch of sorority sisters and have lunch.
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: It's important to me, and O Miss is totally important to me.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: One of the things and those friends.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: One of the things when Elise and I first started dating, I could see that.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: And I could also, we talked a lot, and there's a fact of when it's time for retirement, it's time to move back to Oxford area and Ole Miss.
- 15:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: And I knew that from the very beginning when we were getting engaged and getting married, and I was a California boy, you know, lived in California my whole life.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: But when the opportunity came, it has been such a great move, not just because of the football, but it's been a great move to get out of California and come to Mississippi, which is a just a great place to.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: Mississippi is a sweet place, there is no doubt.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: I'm looking at the clock.
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: Anything else you want to say about those homeless rebels?
- 16:04SPEAKER_03: That's okay, folks.
- 16:05SPEAKER_03: It's over now.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: Glenn Kiffin, it's over.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: We did it.
- 16:10SPEAKER_03: We beat the LSU Tigers, and now let's move on.
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: It's time to move on.
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: It's time to put it behind us and get to Florida.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: Get all of this out of our minds.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: We can still be happy about it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: We can still talk about it.
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: But boy oh boy, let's move on right now, on Tuesday to Saturday afternoon at 2 30 when my rebels are gonna beat Florida.
- 16:34SPEAKER_03: That's my prediction.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: What say you, Bob?
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: Let's hope that they stop.
- 16:39SPEAKER_03: I'm not hoping.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: I know they're gonna do it.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: I just have this feeling They need to stop the third quarter falling asleep.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: I saw I showed you, Elise, on TV when we watched the replay, that the defensive backs were 15 yards back from the receiver on the line of scrimmage.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: There weren't five yards back, they weren't up there.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: 15 yards back.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: Three times in a row they did that, and three times in a row they had 20 yard gains.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: You wonder why there was a collapse?
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: It's because, you know, a defensive coach's head coach, they always play a little bit too much.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, the defense can win us the game.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: You know, let's just play it a little bit softer.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Now they did do a good thing by getting LSU to run the ball more, because running the ball more, once they had almost had the lead, running the ball takes time off the clock, and the chances of scoring a lot of points running the ball is slim to none.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: So that was good how they did that, but you know, they've got to come on, tighten up those defensive backs.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Be five yards away from them off the line of scrimmage.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Don't give them a 15-yard head start.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: Okay, I hope they're gonna do that in Florida.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: I'm sitting here laughing, folks, because uh Bob really missed his whole trip not being a coach.
- 17:54SPEAKER_03: He really should have been a coach, and uh he um he would have loved it.
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: Anyway, we're two minutes behind now, and it's all your fault.
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: What can I say?
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: I'm taking a break right now, and guess what?
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: We'll be coming back with Mississippi Representative Dan Eubanks.
- 18:10SPEAKER_03: So stay right here with us because now we're gonna switch from football.
- 18:13SPEAKER_03: Oh my lands, I didn't even mention state.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: I don't even know what happened.
- 18:17SPEAKER_03: Uh did they win?
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: Did they not?
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: Maybe somebody better call us and tell us.
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: Okay, we might even get to some politics.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: Stay with us.
- 18:26SPEAKER_03: What are you are?
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: Colonel Gannon Burton's Mississippi for America First and the Pompeau County Republican Women Federated.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: They both have organizations that are supporting Conservative Talk Radio.
- 18:37SPEAKER_03: They support the Elise Richmond Show, and we thank them for that.
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: And now I don't want to waste any more time.
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: Let's get right to our guest, Mississippi Representative Dan Eubanks.
- 18:49SPEAKER_03: Good morning, Dan.
- 18:50SPEAKER_03: How are you?
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: Hey, good morning.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: Uh how y'all doing?
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: Good to be back on the show.
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: It is good to have you back.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: I'm so glad you could make it.
- 18:57SPEAKER_03: It is uh a real exciting day, but we've gotten through all the oh miss LSU carrying on, and so now we can settle down to business and go forward.
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: The first question I want to ask you, uh, Representative Eubanks, is I don't think we talked about it ever um before, and I wasn't even sure if you were there at that redist redistricting meeting in South Haven.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: But Bob and I were there, as the audience knows.
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: We spoke at the redistricting meeting, and so I wanted to talk to you about what was kind of going on now in redistricting, because the senators and the representatives, Mississippi Senators and representatives that were there, they didn't respond to anything, they didn't take any questions, they just sat and listened to what the two sides of the redistricting or argument were saying.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: So, what say you about it, um, Representative Eubanks?
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, at least I was actually there.
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: I was on the other side of the room from you because I saw you guys get up and speak.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: And there were people behind and people to the side, and then it was kind of crazy.
- 20:03SPEAKER_03: I didn't feel like I could turn around.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: I was talking to y'all, and I knew that things were happening in different parts of the room.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: So I I'm sorry I missed you, Dan.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they had they had it was fire fire marshal capacity.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: Uh they were letting people in as people left.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: Um but but anyways, yeah, I mean that is that is a listening, uh it's kind of like listening hearing.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: So it's there's not I don't think it was uh Elbert Hosman's intent that there be sort of like QA.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: It was a chance to give um the citizenry of the state the opportunity to get up and speak their mind, uh to point out things that they were passionate about, and then you know, they would they would take all that and bring it back to the uh legislative process.
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: The that is not the the folks that were sitting there listening, most of them do serve on the select committee for redistricting.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: I serve on that committee too.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: I'm not on the one that I'm I'm not on the one that's just traveling around the state uh listening to uh all these different listening sessions.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: I think they're gonna be down on the coast here in the next day or so.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: Um but I I I am a part of the process, and I I think they take a lot of that into consideration.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: Uh and it also gives people a chance to speak their mind and and and be validated at least in in being able to speak their mind.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: Well, boy, there were certainly people that were speaking their mind, that's for sure.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: There was, there was.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: And it's just sad the news media only picked the the the crazy ones to show.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: So uh I know.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: Isn't that a shame?
- 21:41SPEAKER_03: Because I think they could have learned something about um what the really, shall we say, the sensible people in the room were trying to say, and all they talked, all they showed were all those nutty people with the pink hair screaming and yelling.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: And uh they weren't really talking about redistricting at all, they were just screaming about Donald Trump.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Trump.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: And that I found to be totally out of line.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: But I guess it's you have to let them say what they're going to say for three minutes.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: So what happens next after we have all of these um uh forums and after they finish those forums, what is the next step?
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: So here's here's the deal.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: Ever since the Calais ruling, um we don't have to use race.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: So for the last sixty plus years, Mississippi has used raced race to basically draw the lines for districts.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: To give you a give you a little primer on what it looked like the last time we re drew the districts in the state.
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: Um you know the Delta lost about 70,000 people in the previous ten years.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: And so all of the folks that represented the Delta didn't have enough people in their districts to qualify the districts.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: So rather than collapse those districts and and uh a couple people having to run against each other, they took and they they went out contiguously to those districts and they took population from other areas.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: For example, um the the representative down in Tunica and part of Tate County and all that, he came up into my district and they gave him some of my population in order to get him to the number he needed to be at.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: And it's it's kind of sad because you know, if it's a Republican area that that loses population, well, you know what?
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: Then you're gonna have to collapse those.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: If it's a Democrat area, I think you should do the same thing.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: But because of the law of pre-Cal A, you could not dilute a minority majority district.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: So what they wound up doing was collapsing Republican districts, keeping the Democrat district whole, uh, or the black voting age population districts.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: Well and oh, I'm sorry.
- 23:53SPEAKER_02: That's kind of where we're at.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: That's kind of where we're at pre-Calais.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: So now what they're telling us, and and our last hearing is if you're not going to use race as your primary litmus for drawing a district, you have to use people groups.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: Okay?
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: And so how you would define a people group would be you know, it might be the city, it might be a county, instead of all these gerrymandered districts so that you can get ratios right or whatever.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: And you know, a good case in point was they tried to draw the whole inner heart of DeSoto County and the county seat in with three Delta districts way down into the Delta.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: Well, the the Delta has totally different issues than DeSoto County and vice versa.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: And and so that would not be keeping people groups whole.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: So going forward, I don't know what it's gonna look like, but I will tell you this let your listening audience in on it.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: I this is me just speaking uh what I kind of intuit.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: We have to do something if we're going to do it before January because it's time for everybody to qualify to run again this January.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: And I think there's a push, and I've heard this from several of the senators, and I believe it's also the lieutenant governor's push, is just to go back to the 2022 maps that were passed before all the lawsuits that came up.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: Um I'll have a little more clarity.
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: I have been hearing that there's going to be a special session in November to do whatever it is we do, but I think it's gonna be to revert back to the um the previous district.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: And what does that mean?
- 25:22SPEAKER_03: What what is good for the going back and not doing something totally new?
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: Well, the problem is it's it's kind of a time, we've got a time problem.
- 25:33SPEAKER_02: It it is a major process that takes a year to do, usually, when you're drawing districts.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Um I'm not saying this isn't not what it's going to happen, but in order for it to happen, usually they'll call everybody in individually and they'll say, hey, this is what we're gonna do to your district, and are you still in your district?
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: And you know, do you have any input you want to give?
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: And you know, that's a hundred plus reps and fifty plus senators that all would have to go to peer and sit down and go through that process, and that hasn't really happened uh to date.
- 26:08SPEAKER_02: So if if we are going to completely redraw draw the districts and then expect everyone to vote for them in November before qualification starts in January, um I just don't know that that um that's gonna happen in time.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: Now I'm I could be completely off, but but the rumors I've been hearing is that what they want to do is revert back to the um the the 2022 map before they changed they had the lawsuit and they just gave in and then redistricted and and drew minority-majority districts in a couple different places, DeSoto County being one of them.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, now Dan, I think that's a wise thing to do because it gives you time.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: It would probably be rushed and it probably might not do a very good job if you have to try to get it done by January.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: To reverting back would get rid of the really goofy districts that were really the uh cause of all the problems recently in the uh black districts, and it's the way to do it.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: But now, what are you gonna do about the congressional districts?
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: So I think I think a lot of this is a tee up to take care of that.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: Um in in four years, we're going to be drawing the lines again, anyways, because we'll have another census come out.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: Um that's gonna take care of itself and it'll give people a little bit more time to actually say, well, what does it look like to draw districts based on people groups and regions rather than on race?
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: And uh because divide drawing a uh a district based solely on race is probably one of the most racist things you can actually do.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: Very, very unconstitutional.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: It is assumes that all black people vote the same, all Latinos vote the same, all white people vote the same, and that's that's racist in and of itself.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: So um I understand the goal there, and I I think it's about time.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: But I think what's gonna happen, you're gonna see happen in the next year or so, will be an attempt to redraw the congressional districts.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: And so this is a tee-up.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: Most of these hearings that are going around, people are talking about congressional districts and the local legislative districts.
- 28:16SPEAKER_02: But uh next up, I think on the the redraw, redesign chopping block would be the congressional districts, and how do you draw those in a post-Calais ruling environment that um better reflects the state?
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: Well, we're hoping that they will get that done in a very, very fair manner because I thought it very strange that those things those districts were uh switched up and changed up, what, a couple years ago, four four years ago?
- 28:45SPEAKER_03: I don't even remember when that all started happening, and we lost two Republican areas with Republicans in charge.
- 28:53SPEAKER_03: And I find that to be very strange.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Well, you're right.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: And and you know they did that was it was it was unfair to the people that ran a race, spent money, campaigned, and then they had to turn right around midterm and rerun for their own seat.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: And and so you had people across the state that lost they lost their legislat they had to campaign twice within a normal term because of this lawsuit.
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: And right.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Um so if we go back, the people that that replaced them, they can still run for their seat, but but it will be in the I think the ultimately I think it it'll be in the the previous districts pre-lawsuit from the the ACLU and and and all of that.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: Um so yeah, I I think I think that uh it's the thing that we'll really be focused in, or probably happen this session, is taking a a serious look at the congressional districts because you know we have a congressional race every two years.
- 29:54SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: So there was already a primary that had passed uh and it wouldn't have been fair to any side to go in and change change midstream.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: So so it's unconstitutional.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: The the the setup was unconstitutional.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: It's unfair to keep an unconstitutional seat open and it having someone occupied illegally in my book for two years.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: It's unfair either way.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: They just took the easy way out.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they took the lazy way out.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: They should have gone head on about that.
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: And we all know what we're talking about, don't we now?
- 30:29SPEAKER_03: Anyway, I'm looking at the clock, I'm the timekeeper here, Representative Danube Banks, and I'm gonna say we need to take a quick break, but we're gonna come right back, and we've got a lot more to talk about about our great state, Mississippi.
- 30:43SPEAKER_03: So stay with us, Dan Eubanks, Bob Richmond, and I will be right back in just a few minutes.
- 30:50SPEAKER_03: What are your plans for celebrating America's circuit first and Hard Total Republican women?
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: So we're not gonna waste any more time.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: We want to talk to Representative Dan Eubanks, who is on the line here.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: And I had a question that's fairly general in a way.
- 31:07SPEAKER_03: Uh, we're back on the air, Representative Eubanks.
- 31:11SPEAKER_03: Uh I just want to know, considering everything that's going on in the world right now, whether you say high gas prices or whether you say um the war in Iran, no matter what you think um is going on right now, what do you think is the most important thing, the biggest concern or the most important thing for Mississippi and Mississippians?
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: Well, I think um obviously we we all see the political and economic uncertainty that's going on in the world, the the wars and and and all of that, which which feeds into the economic and and political uncertainty.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: It's kind of a big feedback loop.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Um and I think I think the next thing that is, and this is just this is just Dan Eubanks speaking here.
- 31:56SPEAKER_02: That's okay.
- 31:56SPEAKER_03: Dan Eubanks can speak here.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: And Representative Eubanks can too.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: Well, I I follow uh several different economists.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: I like to I like to keep abreast of those type issues.
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: Um obviously the economics of of uh high gas prices, high diesel prices, just inflation in general, it's starting to hurt.
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: It's starting to hurt the American population.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: It's hurt the rest of the world for a while now, but um it and I and I really believe that that we are headed for um a pretty major speed bump when it comes to our debt with the the um the sort of destruction and disintegration of the petrol dollar where which has allowed us to run huge deficits.
- 32:42SPEAKER_02: Uh I know that there's a a big push within the Trump administration to tokenize the debt, and you know what that looks like is programmable money, what they require for people to do to tokenize it, they'll have to hold treasuries or U.S.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: dollars.
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: It's an attempt to try and resurrect the the petrol dollar, um, but to do it on the crypto level.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: And you know what you need for the ability to do that, you need tons and tons of data centers.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: Now that's a whole other issue.
- 33:10SPEAKER_02: This evening I'm actually going to speak at a rezoning hearing here in my own town where they're proposing to put yet another data center.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: They want to rezone an area, and everybody that lives in the footprint of it uh are gonna pay the price for it.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: Their property values are gonna go down, they're gonna be subjected to a lot of noise.
- 33:29SPEAKER_02: Um I last night I took a decibel meter around around uh South Haven and Walls and and I went over to buy the XAI plant because you know we they just announced another data center.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: There's there's about uh three of them, I guess, now in DeSoto County, all South Haven XAI.
- 33:45SPEAKER_02: Huge, huge construction.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: There's 5,000 people out there working every day.
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: Uh it's nonstop 24-7.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: And um that has a real that has a real cost to people.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: But part of that, I think one of the reasons why you see the Trump administration pushing so hard for it is is their sort of uh you know plan to to try and counter what's going to happen to us economically since the petrol dollar's kind of disintegrating, is to create a new standard like that.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: And uh, you know, if you're a conspiracy buff or if you if you uh know what happens when people can turn your money on and off and it's programmable, uh that that doesn't bode well.
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: But I think for Mississippian, I would just say try to get your house right, try to get rid of whatever debt you can get rid of.
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: Um I I do believe that just like back in the early 2000s where we had um we had the dot-com bubbles, you know, we had the telecom bubbles, we had a housing bubble.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: Um I I think we're headed for another one like that.
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: And I think that um that could cause some some very serious uh pain and and political unrest and everything like that in our nation.
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: And I think it's only being accelerated based on what's going on around the rest of the world and and how much money we're spending on on uh wars and and uh and there's there's really no end in sight.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: Um and I think I think the Iranians are just gonna try to outlast us so that so that the during the midterms um you know you're gonna see I hope not, but I I think you're gonna see the uh shift in the House and the Senate.
- 35:23SPEAKER_02: We could lose both of those.
- 35:25SPEAKER_02: And I think both sides forget that the majority, you know, Republicans are always gonna vote Republican and Democrats are always gonna vote Democrat.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: But big squishy middle, the the 40 to 45 percent independent vote that determines a race.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: And if you promise people no new wars and low gas and low everything, and it's the exact opposite, you're gonna lose that big squishy middle.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: And um, and I I I I I hope not, but I think that uh the midterms, there's a lot more hanging on this than than just whether it's Republicans or Democrats land in control.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: And how quickly people forget what the price of gas was under Biden and the Democrats.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: Way worse than it was right now.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: And we're doing it because Trump's trying to stop Iran, who is the worst you know, terrorist group in the whole world trying to eliminate them.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: And it's a small price, I believe I'll pay higher gas to eliminate Iran as a terrorist in the world.
- 36:28SPEAKER_03: But all you hear is gas prices, gas prices, and I'm just wondering.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: That's all the Democrats have.
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's all they have to talk about, and they're firing everybody up with it.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: And I just wonder i i do you think President Trump is gonna be able to get some uh leverage here to get close to ending this war before to bring these gas prices down, because I think we're gonna lose a lot of elections, and I I agree with you if something doesn't snap, something doesn't turn to get positive things happening for Donald Trump and all these Republicans that are running.
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: Well, and and I think that um I think that's a fair assessment.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: I'm not holding my breath.
- 37:10SPEAKER_02: You might see some more fluctuation on on oil prices is down a little bit today, but but at the end of the day, uh we did set record average prices for diesel.
- 37:22SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm thanking God I don't own a diesel vehicle.
- 37:24SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 37:24SPEAKER_02: Um and and for the average American, they they're not watching Nor Fox News.
- 37:32SPEAKER_02: They're not what the way that they they're unplugged, they're cynical about government, they they don't even understand the dynamics.
- 37:39SPEAKER_02: What they understand is, you know, I'm I'm a paycheck away from bankruptcy, and now I'm paying an extra hundred dollars a month, maybe, maybe more than that, on on fuel.
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: And you know, I go to the grocery store.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: And here's the thing about fuel, when you have increased fuel prices, that trickles through everything.
- 37:57SPEAKER_02: Because everything has to be moved.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: So groceries go up, everything.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: Since COVID, uh, you go to the grocery store and spend fifty bucks, you got one bag of groceries, and you're like, what did I buy?
- 38:07unknown: Right.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: And and so for the for the average American, they don't even really care about Iran.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I I know that sounds uh and and so Democrats are using gas prices and fuel prices because it resonates.
- 38:21SPEAKER_02: It resonates not just with Democrats, but it resonates with the independents.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: And it even resonates with some Republicans.
- 38:27SPEAKER_04: Yes, it does.
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: Um and so if you have the discretionary income to say, well, I can shoulder higher gas prices because I see the end game, that's one thing.
- 38:36SPEAKER_02: But that's not the majority of America.
- 38:38SPEAKER_02: So that's why I say I really I really think we might be in for a little trouble come November.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: We need everybody to turn out to vote, um, because uh I I think higher gas prices is probably a better thing than than what we had for the last four years.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: Um but at the same time, uh the reality is people gotta keep their lights on and feed their children and go to work.
- 39:01SPEAKER_02: And if wages have not kept up with inflation, and that's just a fact.
- 39:06SPEAKER_03: Um I think everything that you are saying is actually what is gonna drive this.
- 39:13SPEAKER_03: I'm hoping that some of them are watching TV and seeing what the opponents of our Republicans, what these uh uh Democrat socialists are saying, what the DSA is saying, uh, that they're just talking crazy.
- 39:31SPEAKER_03: And if they really are looking at what they want to have happen in this world right now, you know, they want open borders, they want to uh stack the Supreme Court, they want to do all of these things, you know, statehood for Washington, D.C.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: and Puerto Rico, and that's only because they'll get Democrat senators there.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: They want to defund police, they want to, they really want to shut down all the border wall construction.
- 40:00SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
- 40:02SPEAKER_03: Um and we've we thought everything with abortion was handled and taken care of, and we were so happy with uh um how it ended up really starting in Mississippi.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: I was so proud of them.
- 40:16SPEAKER_03: But the bottom the bottom line is they're now trying to make late-term abortion a permanent right in all 50 states.
- 40:25SPEAKER_03: There are all of these crazy, crazy things.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: It's big government bureaucrats, it's communism, and I just hope that that is gonna override some of this talk of gas prices.
- 40:36SPEAKER_03: Do you think Republicans are gonna be doing enough to get some different word out?
- 40:42SPEAKER_02: Well, and here's here's the thing.
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: What you just said is absolutely correct.
- 40:45SPEAKER_02: That is the that's the one bright spot, silver lining, believe it or not, in that the Democrat Party is having an identity crisis.
- 40:54SPEAKER_04: Yes, they are.
- 40:55SPEAKER_02: It's alienating their own party.
- 40:57SPEAKER_02: So you've got the extreme left that's they're all like socialists, you know, they're mandami-level folks, you know, and um that appeals to people that are having a hard time paying their bills, the people that don't want to work.
- 41:08SPEAKER_02: But but the reality is that all your moderate Democrats, which don't, they're not not much separation between a a moderate Democrat and a moderate Republican.
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: And you're you're you're squishy middle, there's a lot of people it's like, well, what's my alternative?
- 41:22SPEAKER_02: You know, communism isn't that.
- 41:24SPEAKER_02: You know, these radical gender ideologies isn't that.
- 41:28SPEAKER_02: We certainly hope not.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, I hope not.
- 41:31SPEAKER_02: And and so for anybody that's got at least a few brain cells and knows anything about history, they may hate the fact, you know, and and and in all fairness, the Republican Party is having a little bit of an identity crisis too, but not as bad as the Democrat Party.
- 41:46SPEAKER_02: True.
- 41:46SPEAKER_02: And and so you've got you've got a lot of folks that I think will say, well, between the lesser of two evils, uh, you know, I I still gotta go, I guess I still gotta go with the Republicans.
- 41:59SPEAKER_04: Boy, I hope so.
- 42:00SPEAKER_02: So that may be the that may be the saving grace for um that that big squishy middle, the independence, the the swing vote is what folks.
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: I think that they ought to get the word out uh that they I think they really should get the word out on everyone that's campaigning.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: You have a choice freedom, liberty, the U.S.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: Constitution, or communism.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Now what do you want?
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: Take your pick, vote Democrat or Republican, because this is your choice, America.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: Dan, did you get to watch uh President Trump at the UN this morning in a speech?
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: I did not.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: You you need to go listen to it because it was amazing.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: I got to listen to about three quarters of it, then we had to leave to come down to the studio.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: Um but it's so dramatic how the United States is so far superior to every other place in the world.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: And he sits there and points that out to everybody sitting in their seat there and by what he has done and since he's been in charge.
- 43:05SPEAKER_00: And it's just amazing.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: More people would listen to that they would realize boy, if you go back to being having Democrat leaders in this country, you're pretty crazy.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: So it's just something that and the news doesn't play it up and you know, 95 percent anti-Trump.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: It's just one of those things that we can't let that happen.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: We've got to get out there and make sure we get people out to the polls to vote.
- 43:32SPEAKER_03: I think it's one of the most important things is seeing how the Republican Party can really bring the vote out.
- 43:39SPEAKER_03: I know Republican women work at it all the time.
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: Um and and we are really working at it.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: And we have uh this year the Mississippi State Republican women federated have incredible leaders.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: I'm so proud of these leaders.
- 43:54SPEAKER_03: And they have given each county the tools they need to help bring out that vote.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: And I'm hoping that every county in the state that the women will really use those tools that have been given to them in each one of the clubs to help bring out the vote.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: Because there's no excuse.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: There's a crisis here.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: It is exactly what I said.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: You're either going to vote for communism.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: It is not socialism.
- 44:17SPEAKER_03: I don't care what you're tagging it, it's communism, or you're going to vote for freedom and America.
- 44:25SPEAKER_03: And um I r I'm really hoping that we will be successful because the alternative is no good for our children and our grandchildren.
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: And that's something I just don't quite understand.
- 44:36SPEAKER_03: They talk about the uh women who are uh educated women in the suburbs and they're well I don't understand how they're not looking at their children and thinking, oh, I want my children to grow up a communist.
- 44:50SPEAKER_03: Come on, where are those people?
- 44:52SPEAKER_02: Uh there's that's the that's the messaging I think.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's absolutely the messaging that we need to to tell people, point out.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: You know, socialism a hundred percent of the time leads to communism.
- 45:02SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 45:02SPEAKER_02: And if people understand history, over a hundred million people were murdered last century because of communism.
- 45:09SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 45:11SPEAKER_02: And and so, you know, it's it's like Thomas Jefferson said to just kind of paraphrase, you know, we don't get the government we want.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: You know, everybody wants to complain about their government, we get the one we deserve.
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: And if and if we don't show up to vote, we get what we get.
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: And so we've got to get that message out.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: People need to realize what's at stake.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: Um in a communist state, you know, I always say, you know, they want everything you have except your job.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: Uh the people that are working hard in a communist state, they take it.
- 45:40SPEAKER_03: They take it.
- 45:41SPEAKER_02: They take it for those that don't work.
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: And and and it's in the it's this utopian dream, it's been tried time and time and time and time again, and every time it falls short, and the people suffer and the people die.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: And if it was so great, it would have worked at least one of those times, right?
- 45:58SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, it would have worked sometime someplace.
- 46:01SPEAKER_03: I remember uh ever I was always so excited to come home from school on Mondays because I had Life magazine and Look Magazine, those big magazines to read, and um I just loved it when I was a kid.
- 46:12SPEAKER_03: And I remember turning through pages about communism and reading about communism and pictures of people in lines to get into the hospital, all of these uh uh gurnies lined up with sick people to get into the hospital and all of the shelves empty in the grocery stores.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: And I remember seeing those pictures thinking, oh wow, I'm so glad that God let me be born in America and not in Russia.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: And and I just think we need to go back to some of those things and really work hard.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: So anyway, I always ask my guests, uh, Representative Dan Eubanks, I always ask my guests, when we get kind of close to the end of the show, and we're looking at only about uh eight more minutes here, if there's something you really think is important that you would like to say.
- 47:02SPEAKER_03: Um we I've got a lot of questions here that I didn't actually get to to ask you about Mississippi because it's not all doom and gloom.
- 47:10SPEAKER_03: Our schools have picked up, and that's been incredible how they've moved from the very bottom of the number of states.
- 47:16SPEAKER_03: I think they were either ranked 48th in the nation with the schools in their production or 49th, and California was up like one, two, three or so, and now it's just been flipped, and Mississippi is ranked up in the top ten of the school systems in the United States because State Reeves made it, Governor Reeves made it one of his priorities.
- 47:36SPEAKER_03: And all you guys got behind him and got it together to actually work for our children.
- 47:41SPEAKER_03: And those are all positive things, and I think that makes me very, very proud.
- 47:46SPEAKER_03: It also makes me very proud that we are not a sanctuary city, that we support our police, we support ice.
- 47:52SPEAKER_03: And I was gonna ask you what you know about ice in Mississippi.
- 47:57SPEAKER_03: Do you know that they're successful?
- 48:00SPEAKER_02: I I I'm sure they have been.
- 48:02SPEAKER_02: Um that being a federal agency, it doesn't intersect with us a lot at the level in the legislature.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: But the but I do know that there have been we've had a lot of legislation over the past couple years to help assist.
- 48:15SPEAKER_02: We had in this past session to where we we set up programs to where local law enforcement could partner with uh I ICE and the federal uh uh immigration agents um just to make sure that we're you know that we're doing our part.
- 48:30SPEAKER_02: Um I I will tell you, uh no matter how bad it is, or people may feel doom and gloom, like you said, about the U.S., we're always gonna have our problems.
- 48:38SPEAKER_02: We've always had problems, but there's still no other place I'd rather live in the world.
- 48:43SPEAKER_02: And there's no other state I'd rather live in than Mississippi.
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: Um there's a lot of in my in my last ten years in Mississippi, we have made so much progress and and the future is bright for our state.
- 48:54SPEAKER_02: We we're eliminating the income tax.
- 48:56SPEAKER_02: We're we uh we still have good moral, you know, Judeo-Christian worldview.
- 49:01SPEAKER_02: Uh we we still are championing what is what is good and right, um, and we are starting to see the benefits of that um with increased, you know, lots of businesses locing locating here, um you know, standard of living uh being better.
- 49:19SPEAKER_02: There's just we've got the number one community college system in the country, and people don't realize that.
- 49:24SPEAKER_02: That's a jewel, that's a real treasure.
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: That is a treasure.
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: My Lance, I did not know that.
- 49:28SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: The difference in the last ten years is that the smart conservative Republicans have taken over the state.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, but well, the Democrats controlled it for over a hundred years, and you saw where that got us.
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: The Republicans stepped in and started doing hard things and balancing the budget, not spending one-time money, and then progressing towards, and it's incremental, it takes a while, government moves very slow.
- 49:52SPEAKER_02: Um, I I'm I'm just tickled to death to see how far we've come in my time and uh and tenure in the legislature, and to think where we're gonna be ten years from now, and how our kids are gonna be blessed, and our grandkids are gonna be blessed, and and we as retirees, not that I'm a retireer yet, but someday I'm gonna be, hopefully, and and and I will enjoy and reap some of the benefits of the stuff that we're doing right now in the state.
- 50:16SPEAKER_02: So I would just say it's not all doom and gloom.
- 50:19SPEAKER_02: Leave everybody with with it's a good place.
- 50:21SPEAKER_02: We're always gonna have problems, and that's why it's very important for everyone to not check out.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: Stay plugged in.
- 50:28SPEAKER_02: Um it's just like what's going on right now in my area.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: You know, the government that's closest to you has the greatest impact on your life.
- 50:35SPEAKER_04: And that's right.
- 50:36SPEAKER_02: You know, we we talk we talk national politics a lot, but believe it or not, your mayor and board of aldermen or your supervisors is gonna have more to say and and impact on your quality of life than just about anybody, which is the whole reason why half my town is gonna be showing up tonight to the zoning rehearing or hearing for this uh giant data center that they want to add right in the middle of our backyard.
- 50:59SPEAKER_02: And um I'm not against improv you know, expansion or even data centers.
- 51:03SPEAKER_02: I am against being being um strong armed and then the people paying the price for it that that have no say and ability to to to to stand up for themselves.
- 51:14SPEAKER_02: So so stay connected.
- 51:16SPEAKER_02: Uh get everybody you can to get out and vote, um, like your life depends on it, because it really kind of does.
- 51:22SPEAKER_03: It does, it really sort of does.
- 51:24SPEAKER_03: And I have one thing that I do want to say.
- 51:26SPEAKER_03: We've we've really gotten uh we've missed one thing that we need to add to all this.
- 51:32SPEAKER_03: Mississippi is full of Christians.
- 51:35SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 51:37SPEAKER_03: Um we believe in God and Jesus Christ and we are Christians.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: And it kind of amazes me that some of um you know our clergy, they're not even talking about what happens if we don't vote correctly.
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: And I know they'll say, oh, we have to separate church and state.
- 51:59SPEAKER_03: No, no, no.
- 52:00SPEAKER_03: This has nothing to do with it.
- 52:01SPEAKER_03: You don't have to tell people how to vote, but you need to actually be explaining to them how important it is to vote, and there's a difference in that.
- 52:10SPEAKER_03: And I think we have to say that if we don't have our constitution, and you know, Islam is pretty much aligning up with the communists over there in that Democrat Party, and that's something we all need to be looking at too.
- 52:22SPEAKER_03: And how many mosques are in Mississippi, that's something we need to be looking at too.
- 52:27SPEAKER_03: And when you have a constitution that gives you First Amendment rights to speak and ha go to church and uh assemble, those rights will be taken away if we aren't voting properly.
- 52:40SPEAKER_03: So I think it's very important when you've got a large group of people in front of you that you're pretty clear and pretty straightforward on what could happen in America if we don't all pay attention.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: I don't know, um Representative Banks, but that's kind of what I think.
- 52:56SPEAKER_00: You know, let me just add one thing here.
- 52:57SPEAKER_00: There is one group that really has a lot of doom and gloom now, though, and that's LSU.
- 53:02SPEAKER_03: Oh they do have doom and gloom and they've got Lane Kippin, and we don't.
- 53:08SPEAKER_03: Neener, neener, neener.
- 53:12SPEAKER_02: I joke that I'm responsible for them winning because when I I was working and I kept coming in and checking the score, and as they told me early on, my wife and my son, they're like, Oh, you know, it's 24 to whatever it was, seven, and I was like, Oh, we could pull this off.
- 53:24SPEAKER_02: And uh, and then I came back and it and it was tied up.
- 53:27SPEAKER_02: They're like, Your bad luck, stay out of here.
- 53:30SPEAKER_02: And so I had to just poke my head in and look at the score, and I stayed out of the room while they watched the game, and that's what allowed us to pull get over the top there.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: I was sweating it there when it was 24 to 24.
- 53:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, me too.
- 53:41SPEAKER_03: That was a terrible, terrible feeling.
- 53:43SPEAKER_03: We're all like, oh, MG.
- 53:45SPEAKER_03: And anyway, it was it ended up being um fabulous, and and we're so excited.
- 53:51SPEAKER_03: I didn't know how you came down on that.
- 53:53SPEAKER_03: I don't mean that I thought you were an LSU fan, but I didn't remember if you were uh an an O Miss uh grad or if you were Mississippi State.
- 54:02SPEAKER_03: I it doesn't matter, but we can you can be a Mississippi State crazy person and love bulldogs, but and still have have wanted O Miss DeWitt to beat LSU.
- 54:13SPEAKER_02: So I had to diverge divulge a little bit.
- 54:16SPEAKER_02: I I I I'm a I'm a razorback.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: I graduated from the University of Arkansas.
- 54:20SPEAKER_02: Oh my lands.
- 54:21SPEAKER_02: I love but I love I love my Mississippi teams.
- 54:24SPEAKER_02: I haven't been in Arkansas for 40 years, so or 35.
- 54:28SPEAKER_03: I had an uncle that uh graduated from the University of Arkansas, and he and and my aunt were sitting in that game where they had the big fight years ago.
- 54:37SPEAKER_03: And oh my lands, that was something I heard when I was a kid over and over and over about that.
- 54:42SPEAKER_03: Representative Danube Banks, it has been my pleasure having you on the Elise Richmond Show today.
- 54:47SPEAKER_03: You're always fun to talk to, and I hope you'll come back very, very soon.
- 54:52SPEAKER_03: Good luck down there in Jackson.
- 54:54SPEAKER_03: Stay conservative and make them toe the line, okay?
- 54:59SPEAKER_02: I love you guys.
- 54:59SPEAKER_02: It's great to be on the show.
- 55:01SPEAKER_02: Everybody, get out and vote.
- 55:02SPEAKER_03: Yes, get out and vote.
- 55:04SPEAKER_03: Hottie Toddy, get out and vote.
- 55:06SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much.
- 55:08SPEAKER_03: Okay, listeners.
- 55:09SPEAKER_03: Another show is almost over, and I just want to thank you all for listening to the Least Richmond Show this morning.
- 55:16SPEAKER_03: We also want to thank Mississippi Representative Dan Eubanks for being on the show today.
- 55:21SPEAKER_03: He is always a pleasure.
- 55:22SPEAKER_03: Come back next Tuesday at 11 o'clock and mark your calendar so you'll always be ready to listen at 11.
- 55:28SPEAKER_03: Continue to pray for President Donald J.
- 55:31SPEAKER_03: Trump and his family, Vice President J.D.
- 55:33SPEAKER_03: Vance and our military.
- 55:35SPEAKER_03: Never forget we want them to all, no matter where they are in the world, come home safely to their families.
- 55:40SPEAKER_03: And now one last thing to say about the Omis Rebels.
- 55:45SPEAKER_03: We won the game.
- 55:46SPEAKER_03: We beat LSU.
- 55:48SPEAKER_03: And now it is time to go forward.
- 55:52SPEAKER_03: We beat a Lane Kiffin.
- 55:54SPEAKER_03: We beat those Tigers, but let's put that all behind us right now.
- 55:57SPEAKER_03: As I said earlier in the show, go to Florida and beat those gators.
- 56:02SPEAKER_03: God bless all of you.
- 56:03SPEAKER_03: God bless our Omis Rebels and God bless our America.
- 56:10SPEAKER_01: You've been listening to the Elise Richmond Show right here on WNAU.
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: Be sure and tune in again next Tuesday at 11 for the Elise Richmond Show.
