- 0:00Speaker 1: Speaking of recruits, that's where our next guest is doing
- 0:03Speaker 1: right now. He's in the talent rich Texas state of
- 0:06Speaker 1: Texas for looking for him potential college football players for
- 0:09Speaker 1: Notre Dame. He's Notre Dame's running backs coach Jaywon Sider
- 0:13Speaker 1: kind enough to take a minute to join us here
- 0:15Speaker 1: on ninety three point three, Kjfun, I know you got
- 0:17Speaker 1: to catch a plane, soir, so we'll be quick. Thanks
- 0:19Speaker 1: for joining us right off the top. Can you tell
- 0:21Speaker 1: us Jadarian Price how ready for the NFL? Is he?
- 0:25Speaker 1: What did he show you by standing Notre Dame behind
- 0:29Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love all those years?
- 0:32Speaker 2: He's a testament of what you're talking about. Team glorid
- 0:36Speaker 2: where we preach at Notre Dame. You know, the name
- 0:39Speaker 2: in the back means little to the name in the front.
- 0:41Speaker 2: You know, put the team first. And he's a kid
- 0:43Speaker 2: that in penomized that. He's a kid who could have
- 0:46Speaker 2: transferred and been the number one guy. He ain't got
- 0:48Speaker 2: a place in the world, but he chose to stay man,
- 0:50Speaker 2: and that's the ultimate sacrifice. Is you talking about what
- 0:53Speaker 2: you want in your program to represents you? And he's
- 0:56Speaker 2: a starter like he wouldn't no backup to Jeremiah, he
- 0:58Speaker 2: was a starter. He played for me, He played like
- 1:01Speaker 2: a starter. So he's a special talent. And then he
- 1:04Speaker 2: can do it in all three phases, run, block, in catch.
- 1:07Speaker 2: He's a nice scout at the field, but he had
- 1:09Speaker 2: that switch, you know, if he needed to go play.
- 1:12Speaker 2: He won those twelve right and he got that image
- 1:14Speaker 2: into him.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Well in those months that teams would come out, programs
- 1:19Speaker 1: would come after him, offering a nil money to transfer
- 1:21Speaker 1: and be their lead back. What were the discussions you
- 1:24Speaker 1: had with Jadari and how notre Dames value his education,
- 1:28Speaker 1: his competitiveness and wanting to stay with love. What were
- 1:31Speaker 1: those conversations like with him.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Well, he's a kid that valued education. He wanted to
- 1:36Speaker 2: graduate and he was graduating in the spring, so that
- 1:38Speaker 2: was important to him. And he knew he was going
- 1:41Speaker 2: to have a good role here and I think he
- 1:43Speaker 2: was excited about, you know, me coming in getting a
- 1:46Speaker 2: chance to coach him. You know, he had Delan O'tela
- 1:48Speaker 2: was here before I got here. So as a you know,
- 1:51Speaker 2: a style of coach, right you're.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Talking about NFL.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Sometimes your coaches changed, you go to a new program,
- 1:56Speaker 2: so you get to learn different. I think he was
- 1:58Speaker 2: excited about that. And then you know my background being
- 2:01Speaker 2: ex quarterback to Beita expand his knowledge of football to
- 2:04Speaker 2: teach a more defense which allows him to play so
- 2:07Speaker 2: clean this year, and that was things we wanted to
- 2:09Speaker 2: get done. He wanted to be a better catcher, He
- 2:11Speaker 2: want to be a better blocker, but he wanted to
- 2:12Speaker 2: be the most important thing. He wanted to be a
- 2:14Speaker 2: student of the game. He wanted to be anticipate from
- 2:16Speaker 2: front changes, to coverage changes to beta understand where the unblock,
- 2:20Speaker 2: what a ball potentially going to go before the ball
- 2:23Speaker 2: before the snap happens. So we always talking about pre
- 2:25Speaker 2: snap post snap, just like you do a quarterback. And
- 2:28Speaker 2: I think you see that when you turn on his
- 2:29Speaker 2: fanily he came in. You know, as soon as he
- 2:31Speaker 2: come in, he's in the zone. Like he created big plays,
- 2:34Speaker 2: a big momentum to finished drives for us.
- 2:37Speaker 1: This is Notre Dame running backs coach Jaywon's Cider kind
- 2:39Speaker 1: of to take the time to join us while recruiting
- 2:41Speaker 1: in Texas talking about Seahawks first round picked Jadarian Price
- 2:44Speaker 1: on ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Coach Cider, what's one thing about Price that fans you
- 2:52Speaker 3: won't see on the stat sheet, but as a coach
- 2:55Speaker 3: of him and other teammates that he's going to join
- 2:57Speaker 3: in Seattle, they will love about him.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Well. He enjoyed doing the dirty work. Like our biggest
- 3:03Speaker 2: thing and protection. Right, we're talking about the most important
- 3:06Speaker 2: thing is ball security and protecting quarterbacks, like we believe
- 3:10Speaker 2: in being the last line of defense, like a secret
- 3:12Speaker 2: service to the president. We take pride and you know,
- 3:16Speaker 2: you give up a sack of light, turn the ball over,
- 3:18Speaker 2: and you're talking about in the area where you've got
- 3:20Speaker 2: to protect that position with the value. Right, no matter
- 3:22Speaker 2: what you think that you might think you better than
- 3:24Speaker 2: that quarterback. But like end of the day, a team
- 3:27Speaker 2: can't operate without him. So he's willing to do the
- 3:29Speaker 2: dirty work. He's willing to do the grunt work. And
- 3:32Speaker 2: he's not selfish. You know, he's one of those kids
- 3:34Speaker 2: that you know, when he's not in the game, he
- 3:36Speaker 2: playing the game from the sideline. He want to know
- 3:38Speaker 2: what the play is, what the coverage is, so he
- 3:40Speaker 2: can anticipate. Even when he's not in the game, he's
- 3:43Speaker 2: still into it and I think that's what makes him special.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You probably know the Seahawks run outside zone. And we
- 3:50Speaker 1: talked to when after Jadarian got drafted on Thursday night,
- 3:54Speaker 1: we talked to him about outside zone. He said he
- 3:57Speaker 1: loves to make the second level miss after cutting off
- 4:00Speaker 1: a block. What did you see specifically in his patience
- 4:04Speaker 1: and reading blocks, yet his decisiveness and cutting that will
- 4:07Speaker 1: fit at a Seahawks outside zone.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Offense like this is that's his love language. To put
- 4:13Speaker 2: him an outside zone to stretch puncture. Like we dabble
- 4:17Speaker 2: into that last year.
- 4:18Speaker 1: We didn't.
- 4:18Speaker 2: We didn't major it as much as I wanted to
- 4:20Speaker 2: because we ran a lot of that when I was
- 4:22Speaker 2: at Penn State. But it fits his alley like nobody.
- 4:26Speaker 2: He might be the fastest guy that I had to
- 4:28Speaker 2: turn corners were talking about they to stick his foot
- 4:31Speaker 2: and bounce this ball out to the numbers and get
- 4:32Speaker 2: vertical and attack the safety. I mean, he as good
- 4:36Speaker 2: as Jeremiah is, Like I think they equal good in
- 4:38Speaker 2: that department. You know you just again, you didn't talk
- 4:41Speaker 2: about him as much because he played with the number
- 4:44Speaker 2: three pick in the draft. But he has the same qualities,
- 4:47Speaker 2: those same traits and and what's gonna make him special
- 4:50Speaker 2: Becassi understand defense. He's gonna know who's the unblocked versus
- 4:55Speaker 2: the two high safety one high safety, because we all
- 4:57Speaker 2: talking about who we gotta beat, we got to erase
- 4:59Speaker 2: the safety, so that putting him in outside zone gonna
- 5:02Speaker 2: be scary. Like, I think that's that's a great mess
- 5:04Speaker 2: for him.
- 5:06Speaker 1: How would you drill that with coach with reading single
- 5:09Speaker 1: higher double or too deep? And did you did you
- 5:11Speaker 1: stop practice and have him visualize it? Did you have
- 5:14Speaker 1: them call it out during practices? How did that manifest
- 5:17Speaker 1: itself where he learned the defenses?
- 5:19Speaker 2: Well? Film study, Like you know, that's throughout the week
- 5:22Speaker 2: film study were talking about, Hey, this team for domining
- 5:24Speaker 2: a two high team where the quarters cover four, team
- 5:26Speaker 2: cover six, cove eight, invert. This team's a one hot safety.
- 5:30Speaker 2: They gonna play a lot of mans like a three.
- 5:32Speaker 2: So going to the game, you talk about those things
- 5:34Speaker 2: because the coverage match the front and so that's a
- 5:37Speaker 2: big part of your weekly three weeks Tuesday when you're
- 5:41Speaker 2: starting to break down the team, the scouting department, the depth,
- 5:44Speaker 2: charge to front, how they play, and that's a big
- 5:46Speaker 2: story starts right there and then we start building on
- 5:48Speaker 2: the blitz. What comes with these covers is and that's
- 5:52Speaker 2: allow us to be able to get ahead start on
- 5:53Speaker 2: our opponents and those kids, you know, I know the
- 5:56Speaker 2: dame kid that's loved school, love his books, that carried
- 6:01Speaker 2: over to the mean room into the football field.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Coach, how versatile is JD? Are we discussing early downback,
- 6:08Speaker 3: third down weapon or someone that literally can do it
- 6:11Speaker 3: all as you kind of briefly.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Mentioned down back, like that's gonna be a misconception. He's
- 6:17Speaker 2: not a pass catcher.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yes he is.
- 6:19Speaker 2: We didn't get the ball to the back on last year.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I think JD maybe had like seven catches, but they
- 6:25Speaker 2: were meaningful catches. You know, there was two of them
- 6:27Speaker 2: touchdown because last year we had he had another player
- 6:30Speaker 2: that's Jeremiah was as good as anybody in the country
- 6:33Speaker 2: catching ball. So we had a champions script for a
- 6:36Speaker 2: running back the catch that ball. He was going to
- 6:38Speaker 2: do it for him. Not It wasn't a slight to
- 6:40Speaker 2: Jerry Died, just that he was a little bit better
- 6:41Speaker 2: in that area. But if you watch the way he
- 6:44Speaker 2: shaped the ball, the way he turned his shoulders and
- 6:46Speaker 2: open them up back to the quarterback, you see a
- 6:48Speaker 2: kid with natural catching ability. And I think that's the
- 6:51Speaker 2: thing that's important that got lost through this process where
- 6:54Speaker 2: she had to do a great job of researching all
- 6:56Speaker 2: three downs of those type of player he is or
- 6:59Speaker 2: the ron blocker and a catcher.
- 7:02Speaker 1: If I'm not mistaken, Notre Dame became the first program
- 7:05Speaker 1: to ever have the first two running backs selecting and
- 7:07Speaker 1: draft come from the same school in the first round.
- 7:10Speaker 1: How much pride I was about to ask, how much
- 7:14Speaker 1: pride you personally is the running backs? Coots taking that,
- 7:16Speaker 1: how Marcus Freeman takes in that, and just the pride
- 7:19Speaker 1: of seeing one that you worked with so much every
- 7:21Speaker 1: day getting his dreams come true, not only to get
- 7:24Speaker 1: draft in the NFL, but in the first round.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Well, it's the things you preach and recruiting, right, being patient.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Everybody processes is different, right Jadarian to Julya to the
- 7:35Speaker 2: next group is like you never know when stayed a
- 7:38Speaker 2: course man, And it's a great testament that we had
- 7:40Speaker 2: two running backs getting drafted and an error was easy
- 7:43Speaker 2: to be time to be selfishent It is about me.
- 7:46Speaker 2: It is about the money, and these kids sacrifice money
- 7:48Speaker 2: to stay here to play with each other, and I
- 7:50Speaker 2: just show you their brotherhood and what type of husband
- 7:53Speaker 2: that is going to be in the future and you
- 7:54Speaker 2: know what I mean, and dads like those are things unaffortant,
- 7:57Speaker 2: but it's the great selling two of us. Hey, we
- 7:58Speaker 2: had two running backs that got drafted. I played the
- 8:01Speaker 2: same position when his one ball one never started the
- 8:05Speaker 2: game and still was able to go be a first
- 8:07Speaker 2: round draft pick. And who knows right what type of
- 8:09Speaker 2: career he's going to have when you get the NFL.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Now that he get to be a guy.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I have a feeling that's part of your recruiting pitch
- 8:14Speaker 1: you've been selling in Texas. This weekend is looking at.
- 8:20Speaker 3: The mindset of JD in terms of he was playing
- 8:24Speaker 3: behind a great running back and he's coming now to
- 8:26Speaker 3: a team that just won a Super Bowl.
- 8:28Speaker 1: How does he fit into.
- 8:30Speaker 3: That role of not being in awe of the Seahawks
- 8:33Speaker 3: instead just competing and knowing that it's his opportunity to
- 8:37Speaker 3: go out there and shin and shine and show what
- 8:39Speaker 3: he can do.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Well, I think he's ready for it. You know, his
- 8:42Speaker 2: work he put into work for this moment. You know
- 8:45Speaker 2: he was you know, in a lot of ways he
- 8:47Speaker 2: was expecting to go in these spots, right, because that's
- 8:49Speaker 2: the competitor you are. But then I think being at
- 8:52Speaker 2: Notre Dame like he used to playing in pro stadium.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It's not going to be the first to him because
- 8:56Speaker 2: the Beer is school. We travel a lot, we play
- 8:58Speaker 2: in big cities, and so we get those opportunities to
- 9:01Speaker 2: play in these type of environments. So he's already been
- 9:04Speaker 2: part of it. And I think there's a chip on
- 9:06Speaker 2: his shoulder from you know, the season end the way
- 9:08Speaker 2: it ended, and we was probably playing our best football
- 9:11Speaker 2: at that time. So I think he's eager to get
- 9:13Speaker 2: back out there. I think he's eager just to fit
- 9:16Speaker 2: in and be a teammate and then play his part
- 9:18Speaker 2: to try to help Seattle get back to the Super Bowl.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Sir, I know you're crazy busy, and I appreciate you
- 9:24Speaker 1: getting on the air with us right before you jump
- 9:26Speaker 1: on a plane in the middle of a recruiting trip.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Thanks a lot and enjoy Maybe there'll be Seahawk gear
- 9:29Speaker 1: coming your way from Seattle and North and South Bend
- 9:32Speaker 1: will have a bunch of Seahawk fans. Thanks a lot,
- 9:33Speaker 1: All the best to you. Thanks for your time.
- 9:36Speaker 2: You're welcome, guys, have a good one you too.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Notre Dame running back coach jay Wan Sider, as he
- 9:41Speaker 1: said a former quarterback. He was an assistant at Penn State,
- 9:46Speaker 1: and then when James Franklin, that all went south and
- 9:49Speaker 1: he found Notre Dame and he found two first round draftings.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Imagine that, Chris walking into your your job at Notre
- 9:56Speaker 1: Dame and you have two first round drafting No. One
- 9:58Speaker 1: but two.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Hey, I'm gonna need a nice little raid.
- 10:01Speaker 1: What do you say about that?
- 10:02Speaker 3: You know I was making this much so I think
- 10:04Speaker 3: two calculations to first round. Yeah, I'm gonna need a
- 10:07Speaker 3: you know, ten percent pay bump? What do you Is
- 10:09Speaker 3: that too much?
- 10:10Speaker 1: I kind of joked with him, But how easy his
- 10:12Speaker 1: recruiting is this? Right now? You talk about this week?
- 10:15Speaker 1: He'll never have an easier recruiting pitch than Yeah, I'm
- 10:18Speaker 1: the running backs coach for two first round picks. It
- 10:21Speaker 1: just got picked last weekend.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Oh you said first in history. Oh yeah, that'd be
- 10:25Speaker 3: me just throwing that out there.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, he mentioned, and it's bears repeating Jedarian Price
- 10:33Speaker 1: that never started a game, not one at Notre Dame.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love was ahead of him the third pick in
- 10:39Speaker 1: the draft, and schools came calling and said, Price, why
- 10:42Speaker 1: don't you count here? We'll start you. We'll give you
- 10:44Speaker 1: hundreds of thousands of dollars to be a starter. And
- 10:46Speaker 1: he said, nah, I'm gonna stay. I'm gonna graduate from
- 10:49Speaker 1: Notre Dame. And he told us he wanted the challenge
- 10:52Speaker 1: of playing behind the best running back in the country,
- 10:54Speaker 1: to compete against him every day in practice, and he
- 10:58Speaker 1: had fade better on himself as they say, and he
- 11:00Speaker 1: get jackpot. He was one of the best kickoff returners
- 11:04Speaker 1: in the country. He averaged more than six yards of
- 11:06Speaker 1: carry when he did get the ball. He only played
- 11:09Speaker 1: two hundred and eighty snaps in his college career. There
- 11:12Speaker 1: a dude who play two hundred and eighty snaps sometimes
- 11:14Speaker 1: in a season, season and a half. He played two
- 11:16Speaker 1: hundred and eighty offensive snaps in his college career. And
- 11:20Speaker 1: here he is a first round pick for the Seahawks.
- 11:23Speaker 1: And I've just stated, Chris, I think it would be
- 11:26Speaker 1: unexpected among the Seahawks coaches if he's not the lead
- 11:28Speaker 1: back replacing Kenneth Walker week one.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Oh yeah, this is as you talked about earlier. When
- 11:33Speaker 3: you draft someone in the first round, you're expecting for
- 11:38Speaker 3: them to start. That's there's no offen in but first overall,
- 11:41Speaker 3: all the way thirty two, you're expecting to be a starter.
- 11:44Speaker 3: After that, you know, maybe a Pro Bowl or things
- 11:46Speaker 3: of that nature. But yeah, they are looking at him
- 11:50Speaker 3: as RB one and then you can figure out the
- 11:53Speaker 3: order from there. But coming in, you know, you want
- 11:55Speaker 3: him to be the guy. He's gonna get his opportunity,
- 11:58Speaker 3: and I think he's ready for it. As you mentioned
- 12:00Speaker 3: the snaps that he's played, he didn't he doesn't really
- 12:03Speaker 3: have that wear and tear in his body. He is
- 12:07Speaker 3: young and ready to go, and this is opportunity for
- 12:09Speaker 3: him to take the reins and become for the next
- 12:11Speaker 3: three four years, if not even longer. That's number one
- 12:14Speaker 3: Seahawks running back that K nine was doing for the
- 12:17Speaker 3: past few seasons before he ended up going to the
- 12:20Speaker 3: Kansas City Chief. Zach Scharburney has built his name as
- 12:22Speaker 3: the second guy, sometimes even a starter. We've had discussions about, oh,
- 12:27Speaker 3: should Zach be starting, Like that's how many opportunities he
- 12:30Speaker 3: was getting, and he was making the.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Best of those opportunities.
- 12:32Speaker 3: So I think JD fits right in with that, and
- 12:35Speaker 3: he's looked at as RB one. Obviously he's going to
- 12:37Speaker 3: have to earn it, but they don't take you number
- 12:39Speaker 3: thirty two overall to be, you know, sitting down waiting
- 12:42Speaker 3: for opportunities on third down opportunities or second and long.
- 12:46Speaker 1: You are the bell cow. And it's and if you
- 12:50Speaker 1: think about it in terms of roster building, they absolutely
- 12:53Speaker 1: want him to win the job this year because they
- 12:55Speaker 1: would love to have a four year running back potentially
- 12:58Speaker 1: five years with an option for fifty year contract option,
- 13:02Speaker 1: because then you could have a lead guy on an
- 13:04Speaker 1: offense based on running the ball fifty percent of the time.
- 13:06Speaker 1: The Seahawks ran the ball last year, spend most of
- 13:08Speaker 1: the year number one, end up number three beyond Buffalo
- 13:10Speaker 1: and Baltimore percentage of run plays. And if they if
- 13:13Speaker 1: your guys on a rookie contract and being the fifty
- 13:17Speaker 1: percent part of your offense, that's a win to go
- 13:20Speaker 1: out and buy other players because you're saving money at
- 13:23Speaker 1: the running back position. You're not paying free agency dollars,
- 13:26Speaker 1: you're not having a one year contract. You're making a
- 13:28Speaker 1: four year investment on your first round pick. And that's
- 13:32Speaker 1: what they did with Chris Carson, seventh round pick from
- 13:34Speaker 1: Oklahoma State. That's what they did with Kenneth Walker, second
- 13:38Speaker 1: round pick for Michigan State. That's what they had in
- 13:41Speaker 1: mind for Zach Charboney, second round pick from UCLA the
- 13:44Speaker 1: year after Walker, and now Charbonny's coming off the knee injury.
- 13:47Speaker 1: But you see the pattern. That's how the NFL, and
- 13:50Speaker 1: that's how the Seahawks in particular do it. Instead of
- 13:53Speaker 1: going out in free agency and multi year deals, draft them,
- 13:57Speaker 1: develop them, and have them under a relatively low cost
- 14:01Speaker 1: rookie contract for four years. And that is what Jedarian
- 14:04Speaker 1: Price is on track to do. And I'm with you, Chris.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I think he is going to be the starter, and
- 14:08Speaker 1: I think it would be a disappointment for him not
- 14:10Speaker 1: And then you have the six other running backs on
- 14:13Speaker 1: the roster and you start thinking Cam Akers they just cut.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Then you George Hallani's coming back one year deal. Sarbone
- 14:24Speaker 1: may not be back till October November. A guy like
- 14:27Speaker 1: Emmanuel Wilson they signed before they drafted Price. Now they
- 14:31Speaker 1: didn't know they were going to get Price in the
- 14:32Speaker 1: first round. It would fall that way. But Emmanuel Wilson
- 14:36Speaker 1: is a part time player, never rushed from one of
- 14:38Speaker 1: five hundred some yards for Green Bay. He's on a
- 14:40Speaker 1: one year contract. Chris I before we've even seen him practice.
- 14:45Speaker 1: There's no shirt thing. Emmanuel Wilson makes the team if
- 14:47Speaker 1: Price develops the way he is, and say Kenny McIntosh
- 14:49Speaker 1: comes back from injury. Yeah, that was Hugh Millen's point
- 14:52Speaker 1: when he went back and watched the tape and just
- 14:54Speaker 1: assessed everything in the situation. This is prior to JD.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Price being the number one, not number one, but the
- 14:59Speaker 3: Seahawks thirty second, first overall first round pick.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Excuse me. He was mentioning that.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, he's good, but I mean, will he make the roster?
- 15:06Speaker 3: And now you have this kid coming in? Yeah, that
- 15:09Speaker 3: that bodes the question will he even be on the
- 15:11Speaker 3: team come September one?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Right, So easy to cut contract with no money.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Guaranteed money, and if he shocks and all, it's okay, great,
- 15:18Speaker 3: you're still on the roster, but you're cheap and you're
- 15:20Speaker 3: probably gonna be the second down or second running back.
- 15:23Speaker 3: And then with sear Naber returns potentially third if you
- 15:25Speaker 3: beat out Holani and if Kenny McIntosh's aco injury, he
- 15:30Speaker 3: just never really gets back to his old self.
- 15:32Speaker 1: So definitely interesting to see.
- 15:34Speaker 3: But I don't blame the Stacks for going with the
- 15:35Speaker 3: more thirty second overall if he's there. Obviously, teams were
- 15:39Speaker 3: trying to mess up in terms of we don't want
- 15:43Speaker 3: to give you guys an opportunity to get another great player.
- 15:46Speaker 3: You know what, We're gonna make a bunch of trades.
- 15:48Speaker 3: We're gonna do it differently, see if we're able to
- 15:50Speaker 3: trade out of that pick and accumulate more.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Although John did do it.
- 15:53Speaker 3: He figured out a way to get more picks, get
- 15:55Speaker 3: more bites at the Apple, but it wasn't the way
- 15:57Speaker 3: that he envisioned it, probably, but they took who they
- 16:00Speaker 3: felt was the best player available, and I was a
- 16:02Speaker 3: running back, not an edge guy. But you live at
- 16:05Speaker 3: those you live at that, and you'll see the results.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Very interesting to see how Jedarium Price at Jedarian Price
- 16:14Speaker 1: was at a as his coach just mentioned, at a
- 16:17Speaker 1: big time program. He's not going to be odd by
- 16:19Speaker 1: that he is walking into Super Bowl champions But there
- 16:22Speaker 1: he has the advantage of the guy who was a
- 16:24Speaker 1: Super Bowl MVP and the guy who was the lead
- 16:27Speaker 1: back not being there, and Zach Charbonay is going to
- 16:31Speaker 1: be in the training room for the first months of
- 16:32Speaker 1: Price's career. I mean, he has a chance to walk
- 16:36Speaker 1: right into the starting opportunity from day one. Chris, it's
- 16:39Speaker 1: not like, well, I'll bide my time. Who's he biden
- 16:42Speaker 1: time with? And it was in July of last year
- 16:47Speaker 1: that Kenny McIntosh blew out his knee and was a
- 16:49Speaker 1: season ending injury. They're hoping he's back by training camp,
- 16:52Speaker 1: but McDonald said he's not going to be doing anything
- 16:55Speaker 1: this spring in the offseason workout. So there's another veteran
- 16:58Speaker 1: third year who's not going to be in front of Price.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I mean it's really George Hallani and Emmanuel Wilson and
- 17:06Speaker 1: Jacarti Wright. That's what they got on the field. Once
- 17:09Speaker 1: the OTA's in mini camps starts, So I would think
- 17:12Speaker 1: Price is going to get the number one reps with
- 17:14Speaker 1: Sam Darnold handed it off to him in May. Why not, right,
- 17:18Speaker 1: I mean, that's why he drafted him. As to Chris's point,
- 17:21Speaker 1: So he'll get a four year contract. He'll make about
- 17:23Speaker 1: five million dollars on his first deal, and they have
- 17:27Speaker 1: a Seahorks will have a fifty year option to pick
- 17:29Speaker 1: him up at the top average of the top ten
- 17:31Speaker 1: salaries in the league at the position for his fifth season,
- 17:35Speaker 1: which they don't often do. But the point is Jidarian
- 17:39Speaker 1: Price is the only running back under contract of the
- 17:42Speaker 1: Sea Hawks seven beyond twenty twenty six, and that'll be
- 17:45Speaker 1: by virtue of him signing his four year deal. You
- 17:48Speaker 1: have a lot of texts coming in about commenting about
- 17:52Speaker 1: our interviews with the running back coach from Notre Dame
- 17:55Speaker 1: with about Andre Fuller from Toledo. Two six says think
- 18:01Speaker 1: these high school kids are going to pay attention to
- 18:03Speaker 1: someone who walks in their room with two running backs
- 18:05Speaker 1: drafted from his school in the first round last week? Wow? Quote,
- 18:09Speaker 1: sign me up, sir, headed to Notre Dame. I just
- 18:12Speaker 1: joked with coach side of the running back coach for
- 18:15Speaker 1: Notre Dame about his recruiting trip through Texas this week. Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I just put their pictures on the living room table
- 18:23Speaker 1: at these high school Where do I sign? Coach? I'm
- 18:25Speaker 1: excited for this opportunity. Yeah, let's do it. You want
- 18:29Speaker 1: to go to the NFL, come to Notre Dame and
- 18:30Speaker 1: be a running back? Kidding me? Yeah, that's that built
- 18:34Speaker 1: in recruiting Pitch four nine and that's coming dogs text line.
- 18:37Speaker 1: There are more texts like that. We're gonna read those
- 18:39Speaker 1: backs next. Ian Farness's in the house. He just poked
- 18:42Speaker 1: his head in to turn the Mariner game on the
- 18:43Speaker 1: television here. JP Crawford just hit a home run the
- 18:47Speaker 1: leadoff batter for Brendon Donovan being on the injured list
- 18:50Speaker 1: one nothing Mariners in the bottom of the third inning
- 18:52Speaker 1: in Minnesota in the finale of that road trip. Welcome back,
- 19:02Speaker 1: Greg Bell, Christopher Kay with you on ninety three point
- 19:05Speaker 1: three kJ RFM. We just had Juwan Snider, he's the
- 19:09Speaker 1: running back coach for Notre Dame, on the air with
- 19:11Speaker 1: us and he said that Jedarian Price, the first round
- 19:14Speaker 1: pick for the Seahawks, the running back. I asked him
- 19:16Speaker 1: about outside zone. He said, that's his love language. It fits.
- 19:19Speaker 1: You might be the fastest guy I have the turn
- 19:22Speaker 1: corners at Notre Dame. And he's as good as Jeremiah
- 19:24Speaker 1: Love is at that. What's gonna make him special is
- 19:27Speaker 1: he understands defense. There's a chip on his shoulder for
- 19:30Speaker 1: this Notre Dame season ending the way it did. And
- 19:33Speaker 1: he said he's going to fit right in in this
- 19:35Speaker 1: locker room. A bunch of alpha guys that just won
- 19:38Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, not phased by any of it. Being
- 19:40Speaker 1: a backup his entire career at Notre Dame to the
- 19:42Speaker 1: third pick in the draft. He said he's special. And
- 19:47Speaker 1: this is like the third person we've heard from this
- 19:49Speaker 1: week talking about special Jadarium price and how he Jedaarian
- 19:54Speaker 1: price is made up, not just football wise, but just
- 19:57Speaker 1: as a person turning down millions of dollars to leave
- 19:59Speaker 1: Notre name. If you miss that for the iHeartRadio app
- 20:03Speaker 1: or to go to nine three three KJR dot com,
- 20:05Speaker 1: Chris will have it up after the show. We also
- 20:08Speaker 1: talked to the seventh round pick, Andre Fuller from Toledo.
- 20:10Speaker 1: You can also get that on the iHeartRadio app or
- 20:13Speaker 1: on the nine three three KJR dot com. You're a
- 20:15Speaker 1: chance to be a part of the show now and
- 20:16Speaker 1: the kommodage text line four nine four five one.
- 20:20Speaker 3: This is from the two five to three. If Russell
- 20:23Speaker 3: Wilson ends up backing up Gino Smith in New York,
- 20:27Speaker 3: I hope Gino never lets Russ take one snap all
- 20:31Speaker 3: season long, sort of like Russ did to Gino in Seattle.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Well, quarterbacks don't decide how much they play, and in
- 20:40Speaker 1: that case, Russell Wilson didn't say I'm not coming out.
- 20:43Speaker 1: They just never took him out. In that one season.
- 20:46Speaker 1: It was Smith's first season after they signed him. He
- 20:49Speaker 1: Carrol brought him in. So that's not entirely up to Ginosmith.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But I get the point for sure. The irony there,
- 20:56Speaker 1: As I said, nobody in Seattle needs to be reminded,
- 20:59Speaker 1: the irony of that if Russell Wilson would side with
- 21:02Speaker 1: the Jets to be Gino Smith's back up. Deep down,
- 21:05Speaker 1: that's crazy to me.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I am shocked after all the talk of if I
- 21:09Speaker 3: want to be a starter, okay, I think.
- 21:13Speaker 1: He should just well what starter jobs are left?
- 21:17Speaker 3: I guess we can pull up the league and look, Cardinals,
- 21:20Speaker 3: Well do you really want to play against the Seahawks
- 21:22Speaker 3: twice a year? Probably not? With that offensive line, Russ
- 21:26Speaker 3: would be murdered. That's probably not ideal for him. So
- 21:29Speaker 3: we're going to cross that off the list immediately.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Your poor guy Minshew. Yeah, that's a that's a tough one.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But he's young.
- 21:36Speaker 3: He's a young Whooper snapper. He'll be all right, right,
- 21:39Speaker 3: you know, he got them, He'll be Okay, Let's see
- 21:42Speaker 3: any other any other teams great that you could think
- 21:44Speaker 3: of before? I mean, the Cowboys they locked him up, Eagles,
- 21:47Speaker 3: they're good Brown's.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Apparently apparently Mary kick come o this morning from Cleveland
- 21:53Speaker 1: go Ahead recording that Deshaun Watson is going to win
- 21:56Speaker 1: the job over Thomers. Sanders well that, hey, you know what,
- 21:59Speaker 1: go to go to one that you have a chance Minnesota. No,
- 22:04Speaker 1: they just signed.
- 22:06Speaker 3: No they believe, and actually you know what, no, no, no, no.
- 22:12Speaker 3: He was the Dolphins. So if you want to go
- 22:13Speaker 3: to the sun sign Shine, Sunshine City, Miami.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Try to compete with Willis? Wide open. You think he
- 22:21Speaker 1: wouldn't compete with I think he would. I think he
- 22:23Speaker 1: would compete with Willis. So who there's no other jobs
- 22:26Speaker 1: wide open unless you.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Can not wide open. But even then, I think he
- 22:30Speaker 3: could beat out Willis.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Don't you think? I'm not saying it's wide open, but
- 22:33Speaker 1: I think.
- 22:34Speaker 3: A preseason game, all the practices, rus could win that job,
- 22:38Speaker 3: right or is he completely just maybe plateau at his
- 22:42Speaker 3: career and he's just like, you're not You're not good anymore?
- 22:44Speaker 1: Bud. Maybe? Yeah, it's a good question. Where would he
- 22:47Speaker 1: fit as a starter.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I think those three teams we mentioned, the Steelers, I
- 22:53Speaker 3: think I think they're good on that bingo and it
- 22:58Speaker 3: was kind of like damn Russ what are you doing?
- 23:01Speaker 1: The Steelers If you don't remember, we mentioned in yesterday,
- 23:04Speaker 1: they have used a very rare unrestricted free agent tender,
- 23:09Speaker 1: which would give them the right to keep him and
- 23:11Speaker 1: he can't negotiate with another team if he doesn't sign
- 23:13Speaker 1: before training camp begins. He's just stringing the Steelers out. Again.
- 23:17Speaker 1: That's just ridiculous too. Are we surprised? Now? Okay, what
- 23:20Speaker 1: else is there? Two six? This is fair point.
- 23:24Speaker 3: See, kid, if you run out to a park at
- 23:26Speaker 3: some points you are near.
- 23:27Speaker 1: The water, you know what. You're not in it though? Right? No?
- 23:30Speaker 3: No, no, I know there's a little context. Before I
- 23:32Speaker 3: heard what Greg was talking about, I didn't know where
- 23:35Speaker 3: you would be.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I didn't know it was on land.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Now, if we're on the water, that's where I'm kind
- 23:40Speaker 3: of like, you know, yeah, I probably I'm not good.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I'm not interested in that. Running by it. I can
- 23:45Speaker 1: do it.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Standing on land, I can do it. It's when you
- 23:49Speaker 3: put me on a little canoe or a boat and
- 23:51Speaker 3: you say do said thing. That's where I get a
- 23:54Speaker 3: little ants. I asked questions. I can't see the bottom
- 23:56Speaker 3: of the lake anymore, I freak out. I think that's
- 24:01Speaker 3: all that that's.
- 24:01Speaker 1: It four to five. Asked, it's about the point I
- 24:04Speaker 1: made with the running back coach, Coach Cider for Notre Dame,
- 24:08Speaker 1: about Notre Dame being the first school to have the
- 24:11Speaker 1: first two running backs of a draft selected from the
- 24:13Speaker 1: same school. Notre Dame just did it with Jeremiah Love
- 24:16Speaker 1: third overall and then jedai in Price thirty second. And
- 24:20Speaker 1: he says, no, that's wrong. Two thousand and five draft,
- 24:22Speaker 1: Ronnie Brown and Cadodak Williams from Auburn both were top
- 24:25Speaker 1: five picks. Right, they both were top five picks. But
- 24:27Speaker 1: guess what the fourth pick of that draft was, Cedric Benson,
- 24:30Speaker 1: remember him? Oh? Wow? From Texas. Yeah, so they were
- 24:33Speaker 1: three running This is sosia. How far running backs have
- 24:35Speaker 1: come and gone down in value? There were three running backs,
- 24:40Speaker 1: excuse me, two running backs believe this year chosen among
- 24:43Speaker 1: the first one hundred. There were three in the first
- 24:46Speaker 1: five in two thousand and five, three in the first five.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Ronnie Brown from Auburn, Cedric Benson from Texas was number
- 24:55Speaker 1: four pick, and the number five pick was Cadillac Williams,
- 24:57Speaker 1: also from Auburn. But nobody has had back to back
- 25:02Speaker 1: top of the draft first running backs taken before from
- 25:04Speaker 1: the same school until Notre Dame just last weekend. And
- 25:08Speaker 1: that is what coach Cider is out on the recruiting
- 25:11Speaker 1: trail reciting his recruits right now. The easiest recruiting selle
- 25:15Speaker 1: you could give to a running backs coach. Here go
- 25:17Speaker 1: tell him.
- 25:17Speaker 3: This insane everything about Simpson tells me he's not a
- 25:24Speaker 3: McVay quarterback from the two six. Yeah, not much to add.
- 25:30Speaker 1: They were when I'd watch college games, and I didn't
- 25:33Speaker 1: watch a lot because often was on planes flying to
- 25:35Speaker 1: Seahawks road games or with my family if they were
- 25:38Speaker 1: home games on Saturdays. But when I saw Simpson, I
- 25:40Speaker 1: was He didn't strike me as a first round, top
- 25:43Speaker 1: thirteen pick. It looks like a project guy. And I
- 25:47Speaker 1: saw him against Florid to State not have a really
- 25:49Speaker 1: good game. I watched that game. Hey, here's something to
- 25:51Speaker 1: educate me. Now, this is my new show and new
- 25:53Speaker 1: old show. But I'm gonna be around a while. And
- 25:57Speaker 1: the two five three says, and I'm not this. This
- 26:00Speaker 1: is not a criticism. I'm reading this because I truly
- 26:01Speaker 1: want your input. On the text line two five three says,
- 26:05Speaker 1: I hate when you guys just blurt out the score
- 26:07Speaker 1: of these Mariner games, these day games while we're here
- 26:10Speaker 1: at work recording the game at home so we can
- 26:13Speaker 1: watch it later when we get home. But you guys
- 26:15Speaker 1: just blurt out the freaking score. How about some kind
- 26:19Speaker 1: of spoiler alert, fair point? How many of you? I
- 26:26Speaker 1: just think there's such instantaneous scores and natures of sports
- 26:29Speaker 1: on your phones and everything now that it would be
- 26:32Speaker 1: damn near impossible to spend an entire work day and
- 26:34Speaker 1: then get home and not know the score of the
- 26:36Speaker 1: Mariners game. But and I'm not giving away the final score.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I just said that, I'm not going to repeat it
- 26:41Speaker 1: if you guys are trying to record, But tell me
- 26:44Speaker 1: on the text line four nine, four or five one,
- 26:47Speaker 1: how many of you do that? And if so, then
- 26:49Speaker 1: I'll shut up. We've talked about this within the station
- 26:52Speaker 1: here about some guys don't do it at all, and
- 26:54Speaker 1: some people do that we'll mention it every once in
- 26:56Speaker 1: a while. I just don't want to ignore the fact
- 26:58Speaker 1: that I didn't want to give it the headlines at
- 27:00Speaker 1: the top of the hour that the Mariners won last
- 27:02Speaker 1: night while they're playing right now. I thought it would
- 27:04Speaker 1: be a little more pertinent to tell them what they're
- 27:06Speaker 1: doing right now. But what do you think, Chris, stay
- 27:09Speaker 1: away from it?
- 27:10Speaker 3: I would, yeah, just you know, it's okay, stay away.
- 27:14Speaker 1: What is it? Finding Nemo?
- 27:16Speaker 3: No? What's the movie where Will Smith is a fish?
- 27:20Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, it's a classic. Oh my goodness. Well
- 27:23Speaker 3: there's a scene where he says, swim away, swim away.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Same with Greg and Regard the Mariners just stay away,
- 27:30Speaker 3: stay away.
- 27:30Speaker 1: When they're on live.
- 27:31Speaker 3: That is maybe, oh, shark Tails, if I'm not mistaken, Sharktals. Yeah,
- 27:35Speaker 3: it shark Tails. I might have been finding Nemo one
- 27:37Speaker 3: of those two movies swim My Way, swim Away. AnyWho,
- 27:42Speaker 3: it was pretty good, Chris, Thank you? Did you so?
- 27:46Speaker 3: You ask the text line?
- 27:48Speaker 1: Yo?
- 27:48Speaker 3: If you got questions for young Andre Fuller, best ones
- 27:51Speaker 3: to get asked on the air or something similar to that. Nonetheless,
- 27:55Speaker 3: someone had a fast food question. Oh yes, I I'm
- 27:59Speaker 3: going to flip that now to g Bill.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Okay, listeners and Chris, I'm doing much better on this,
- 28:05Speaker 1: but I have an answer on this, But go ahead.
- 28:07Speaker 1: What are you going with? Out of these selections?
- 28:10Speaker 3: This is from the three six to so Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's.
- 28:15Speaker 3: You mean, let me get the jack in the crack. Well, oh,
- 28:18Speaker 3: if you well, if you want to live, so you're
- 28:22Speaker 3: going Wendy's.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Back in the box. That's an adventure in itself. Wendy's.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I'm an Ohio boy. Wendy's was founded in Columbus, Ohio.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I've been to the original Weddy outside of Wendy's. Then, Greg,
- 28:32Speaker 1: I grew up on triples with cheese. When I was
- 28:34Speaker 1: playing high school football, I would have two days and
- 28:37Speaker 1: then on the drive home, I would get triples with cheese,
- 28:39Speaker 1: no onion, and a large frosty. Can you imagine they
- 28:43Speaker 1: don't even have it on the menu anymore? Triples with
- 28:44Speaker 1: chiefs they do do it. It's like this secrets, double
- 28:47Speaker 1: Secret special menu. You can go to Wendy's asked for
- 28:50Speaker 1: a triple with cheese. Probably costs fourteen dollars now, but
- 28:54Speaker 1: back then it was like three bucks a triple with cheese.
- 28:57Speaker 1: You know how many calories a triple with cheese must be?
- 29:00Speaker 1: Like probably fifteen hundred calories. Wow, that was That's a
- 29:03Speaker 1: lot there, I was. I'm discussing, but I was doing
- 29:06Speaker 1: two a days and they just sweated and humidity in
- 29:09Speaker 1: July and Ohio August and yeah, triple with cheese, no onion,
- 29:13Speaker 1: and large frost. He cost me like four ninety nine.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Oh the good times. That reminds me of my when
- 29:18Speaker 3: I was in high school. I would my mom will
- 29:19Speaker 3: give me twenty if she gave me a dub for
- 29:21Speaker 3: the week, and I would go to McDonald's walk up
- 29:23Speaker 3: the street. That's when I can get two large fries
- 29:26Speaker 3: and a snack wrap for like seven dollars.
- 29:29Speaker 1: See, I'm so old they didn't have snack wraps of McDonald's.
- 29:32Speaker 1: You moved up well about shamrock shakes, yes or no? Yes,
- 29:36Speaker 1: Some people say no way. It's a lot of shaping
- 29:39Speaker 1: nuclear it. It is just you remember that scene in
- 29:44Speaker 1: Scar Phase where he just sniffed that whole mountain.
- 29:47Speaker 3: That is what drinking one of them shamrocks is, like
- 29:50Speaker 3: all that sugar just yeah that is crazy.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Oh I feel great and you just have way too
- 29:58Speaker 3: much energy.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Five three says well, there are probably three hundred of
- 30:02Speaker 1: us working in this shipyard, and at least half of
- 30:04Speaker 1: us are recording the game. Okay, noted Keith two five three,
- 30:09Speaker 1: frequent listener, who in the hell is worried about? Game?
- 30:11Speaker 1: Thirty three of a marathon season. If you're really recording
- 30:14Speaker 1: that game home and you need to get a life,
- 30:17Speaker 1: oh hey, we don't need to.
- 30:18Speaker 3: We don't need to interfere with the text beef, because
- 30:22Speaker 3: now this person's gonna respond, you know what, keith up
- 30:25Speaker 3: yours take that.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I shouldn't outed your keith four two five it's a
- 30:28Speaker 1: day game in April. Give updates on the score as
- 30:30Speaker 1: it's happening. Two o six. People care about getting the
- 30:35Speaker 1: score immediately. Don't need to hear from you, guys, they
- 30:37Speaker 1: already know hmm. Two o six says Shark Tale was terrible.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Hey did you say it was good? I just remember
- 30:44Speaker 1: that scene. My apologies.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I didn't mean to make it seem like it was
- 30:47Speaker 3: a film you need to go see now.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Five three says you listen to a sports talk radio
- 30:51Speaker 1: show and you expect to score at your job, I
- 30:55Speaker 1: record the game. Also says that three to six oh
- 30:58Speaker 1: two o six most people would probably rather hear the
- 31:01Speaker 1: score than not hear it. It is sports radio. Okay,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I'm not judging here. I just was curious about I
- 31:09Speaker 1: didn't I didn't know that many people would not want
- 31:13Speaker 1: to know the score of the game, and we're saving
- 31:15Speaker 1: it for when they get home. It makes sense if
- 31:17Speaker 1: you still do that. I just didn't know today that
- 31:18Speaker 1: people did do that. My son has a pop up
- 31:21Speaker 1: on his phone alerts yeah, yeah, which I don't do.
- 31:25Speaker 1: But yeah, I know you can do that. Yeah you can.
- 31:29Speaker 3: I tend to when I was we're going to finish
- 31:32Speaker 3: line way back in the back, a long time ago.
- 31:34Speaker 1: I can say that now it feels good.
- 31:36Speaker 3: I used to record the games, and I would beg
- 31:38Speaker 3: my co workers not to smile at me, not to giggle,
- 31:41Speaker 3: not to make any references to an Indiana Pacers Miami
- 31:46Speaker 3: Heat game because I was recording it.
- 31:48Speaker 1: It wasn't regular season, wasn't No.
- 31:49Speaker 3: This was the playoffs around this time, and these are
- 31:52Speaker 3: you know, huge games over here looking at me like
- 31:54Speaker 3: what's up, Chris. I'm like, hey, man, don't don't do
- 31:56Speaker 3: that to me. You know, I'm recording the game.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Oh, I'm just saying, what's up to?
- 31:59Speaker 3: You're not last one for me from the four to
- 32:01Speaker 3: two five. If Ty Simpson thirteenth pick, then how much
- 32:06Speaker 3: of a great draft pick was Milroe in the third round?
- 32:09Speaker 3: And that person needs to, I don't know, grow up. Actually,
- 32:14Speaker 3: I take that back. I'm just gonna end it there.
- 32:17Speaker 3: If TDD Simpson thirteenth pick, then how much of a
- 32:19Speaker 3: great pick was Milroe in the third round?
- 32:21Speaker 1: Who knows, we've only seen Milroe for three plays. Well
- 32:25Speaker 1: from them was a fumble for one.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Again, as Greg and I have mentioned, when you are
- 32:29Speaker 3: taken in the first round, you are projected to be
- 32:32Speaker 3: the starter. You're taking in the third round. Cool, we'll
- 32:35Speaker 3: develop you. So he's a development piece. He's not looked
- 32:38Speaker 3: at as hey man, we need you week one now.
- 32:40Speaker 3: If you become that, no one's going to be upset.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Drew Locke is in the final year of his two
- 32:45Speaker 1: year deal. If I turned back up, I would expect
- 32:47Speaker 1: they're going to carry three quarterbacks again, so that they
- 32:49Speaker 1: have Milrow and they're exposing the waivers where someone might
- 32:52Speaker 1: be able to snag him, and they're going to have
- 32:56Speaker 1: him as the longer term development for years three and four.
- 32:59Speaker 1: And Sam Darnold will get a new contract this time
- 33:02Speaker 1: next year and he'll be there well after Millroe's decision
- 33:05Speaker 1: to be made, and so it goes. But yeah, I
- 33:09Speaker 1: don't think we can judge Milroll in three plays. Where
- 33:15Speaker 1: was that a Pat and poort Orchard thank you, Pat.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Three to six. Oh hi, great to get the depth
- 33:21Speaker 1: on sports stories, you bring an insight, you allow Chris
- 33:24Speaker 1: to blend in with thank you. That's nice. I appreciate that.
- 33:29Speaker 1: That wasn't the name of me coming back on the
- 33:31Speaker 1: show here to get Chris Kid involved. He has a
- 33:34Speaker 1: lot to offer, especially in the NBA that I have.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I've just decided I'm not interested in I guess, but
- 33:40Speaker 1: I just don't know about not to mention. Born and
- 33:42Speaker 1: raised in Seattle, Oday graduate basketball fan, Seahawks fan, Mariners fan,
- 33:47Speaker 1: true to the Blue, lived and grown up here. Why
- 33:51Speaker 1: would I not? I mean, I'd be stupid not to
- 33:53Speaker 1: well beat it. Judge out how you may. But no,
- 33:58Speaker 1: it's not at thank you, Pat. But yeah, that's just
- 34:00Speaker 1: part of the deal. That's how we rolled back the
- 34:02Speaker 1: previous time in twenty twenty four, two years ago. Can
- 34:05Speaker 1: you believe? No? I can't.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Actually no, It'll be twenty thirty and I'd be like Greg,
- 34:09Speaker 3: I'm old and you're like Kid, I'm older.
- 34:12Speaker 1: If you're old, I didn't mean am I if you're old?
- 34:15Speaker 2: Man?
- 34:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I gotta find a way to slither around that
- 34:18Speaker 3: conversation with Greg because he looks at him looks at
- 34:20Speaker 3: me like we're talking about kid.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I think I feel thanks for the feedback on the scores,
- 34:25Speaker 1: whether they give or not to give. Appreciate that. I
- 34:28Speaker 1: was just genuinely curious. That's a good use of the
- 34:30Speaker 1: text line to interact with you. So now I get
- 34:32Speaker 1: a perspective of them. You're listening and what you want,
- 34:34Speaker 1: don't don't want. So I won't tell you what's going
- 34:36Speaker 1: on in the fourth inning and Merits game I'm staring
- 34:39Speaker 1: at I won't for now, Thank you. Ian is taping
- 34:43Speaker 1: for an interview, so when we come back, we're in talk.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Crackinghead an announcement. Mike Benton just texted into me. Cracking
- 34:49Speaker 1: had an announcement today on the East Side. We'll tell
- 34:50Speaker 1: you what that was about. Ian show will start from
- 34:53Speaker 1: twelve until three or on ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Welcome back, Craig Christopher Kay with you as we are
- 35:07Speaker 1: every weekday ten am to noon here on ninety three
- 35:09Speaker 1: point three KJRFM. You're home of the Kraken. The Krakens leadership.
- 35:15Speaker 1: They were over in Kirkland this morning. They had a
- 35:17Speaker 1: press conference with the City of Kirkland officials. They've announced
- 35:21Speaker 1: plans for a new team ice plex in the Kirkland
- 35:24Speaker 1: Community Center. It's going to be the second one they open.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Of course, they have the King County ice Plex in
- 35:29Speaker 1: Northgate in Seattle, North Seattle, and Mike Benn was there
- 35:34Speaker 1: and I asked him, Okay, what's the deal with this
- 35:36Speaker 1: second facility, and he said, the King County ice Plex
- 35:40Speaker 1: in Northgate is still going to be the Krackls primary facility.
- 35:43Speaker 1: This is more for community hockey in Kirkland and more
- 35:46Speaker 1: grassroots community hockey facility, more sheets of ice to play
- 35:51Speaker 1: more games and have more leagues and grow the sport
- 35:53Speaker 1: from the youth level on up. Just anecdotally, I go
- 35:58Speaker 1: by Northgate quite a bit with a couple miles south,
- 36:01Speaker 1: go to the gym over there right across the parking
- 36:04Speaker 1: lot from the King County Ice Pikes, which is constantly
- 36:07Speaker 1: packed with kids and going in there for tournaments. And
- 36:10Speaker 1: yesterday afternoon, like five o'clock was packed. So it's well used.
- 36:15Speaker 1: And so the crack and see a need for another
- 36:17Speaker 1: facility with probably two or three more sheets of ice,
- 36:20Speaker 1: and that's what's going to happen and going down in Kirkland,
- 36:23Speaker 1: so they'll have a primary practice so he Mike ben
- 36:25Speaker 1: tells me that Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks, other NHL
- 36:29Speaker 1: teams did the same thing. They have a primary practice
- 36:31Speaker 1: facility and then they have other rinks around the region
- 36:34Speaker 1: with their branding on it to help for community and
- 36:37Speaker 1: relations and grow the sport. And that's what's going on
- 36:40Speaker 1: in Kirkland. So that was announced today. If you missed
- 36:43Speaker 1: us talking earlier in the first hour, we talked to
- 36:46Speaker 1: Andre Fuller. He's a quarterback from Toledo. He's a seventh
- 36:49Speaker 1: round pick the Seahawks, one of three Seahawks draft picks
- 36:53Speaker 1: that are corners. A fourth defensive back safety Buck Clark
- 36:57Speaker 1: in the second round. So it's obvious where Mike McDonald's
- 37:01Speaker 1: emphasis for the future is in multiplicity in the secondary.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Andre Fuller was telling us that he missed the entire
- 37:08Speaker 1: twenty twenty four season of Toledo, his next last college season,
- 37:11Speaker 1: because it was sports hernia surgery. He said he needed
- 37:14Speaker 1: the surgery a week before the opening game and he
- 37:16Speaker 1: missed the entire season. How stressful that was, and that
- 37:20Speaker 1: he relied on positive thinking. His mother, single mother, who
- 37:24Speaker 1: raised him and five siblings six children in Palm Beach, Florida,
- 37:27Speaker 1: and that got him through that and he was committed
- 37:29Speaker 1: to having the best year of his career, and as
- 37:31Speaker 1: Chris mentioned, that's exactly what he had as a senior
- 37:34Speaker 1: his last year in college at Toledo after a couple
- 37:36Speaker 1: of years after transferring from Arkansas Pine Bluff. He said
- 37:40Speaker 1: he has played some safety, but not a ton, but
- 37:43Speaker 1: that it has given him a perspective on knowing what
- 37:45Speaker 1: offenses and how they attacked the inside and outsides of defenses.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Mike McDonald and the Seahawks. Of course, I appreciate that
- 37:52Speaker 1: if you miss that interview, you go to the iHeartRadio
- 37:54Speaker 1: app downloaded for free goo to ninety three KGI dot com. Chris.
- 37:57Speaker 1: They'll have it up there after the show. And we
- 38:01Speaker 1: also talked to the running back coach at Notre Dame
- 38:04Speaker 1: who coached Jadarian Price, the Seahawks first round pick, Juwan Sider.
- 38:09Speaker 1: We caught him on a Texas recruiting trip for Notre
- 38:12Speaker 1: Dame and he said that outside zone is exactly fitting
- 38:16Speaker 1: and he's he said, Price is as good as the
- 38:21Speaker 1: third pick in the draft, Jeremiah Love his the guy
- 38:23Speaker 1: who started over him at Notre Dame. He and Love
- 38:26Speaker 1: are equally good at outside zone, he said, But he say,
- 38:29Speaker 1: that's that's your love, that's your love words or language,
- 38:33Speaker 1: love love language. You're speaking his love language when you
- 38:36Speaker 1: talk about outside zone, which of course the Seahawks went
- 38:38Speaker 1: to last year with Clint Kubiak, John Benton, the offensive
- 38:41Speaker 1: line coach. I will say again, yeah, I know, they
- 38:45Speaker 1: hired a new offensive coordinator and we'll see how that
- 38:48Speaker 1: all goes down with Brian Flurry, the former running back
- 38:50Speaker 1: or tight ends coach and running game coordinator at San
- 38:52Speaker 1: Francisco for Kyle Shanahan. But to me, the most important
- 38:56Speaker 1: retain on that staff, the important move was keeping John
- 38:59Speaker 1: Benton and clarity and teaching that outside zone. And now
- 39:04Speaker 1: he's got a new guy, Bo Stevens, the fifth round pick.
- 39:06Speaker 1: They traded back into the fifth round to get the
- 39:08Speaker 1: All American guard from Iowa, another guy to teach outside
- 39:12Speaker 1: zone two and the clarity of that teaching Abe Lucas,
- 39:16Speaker 1: Charles Cross Gray's Abel all talking about the clarity of
- 39:19Speaker 1: one thing. We're going to be outside zone. Every game
- 39:21Speaker 1: plan outside zone. And Jedarian Price, according to his running
- 39:25Speaker 1: back coach in college, that's his game outside zone, which'll
- 39:29Speaker 1: further explain why the Seahawks spent their first round pick
- 39:31Speaker 1: on him and why Christopher and I think he's going
- 39:34Speaker 1: to be the number one pick, or excuse me, the
- 39:36Speaker 1: number one running back. Week one, September ninth opener at Lumenfield.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Go ahead and run to your casinos and put money
- 39:43Speaker 3: on him getting one thousand yards.
- 39:45Speaker 1: You heard it here first. But April twenty ninth, Chris
- 39:48Speaker 1: is calling it a thousand yard back, thousand yard rookie
- 39:50Speaker 1: season for Jedarian Price. I won't mention that the Mariners
- 39:55Speaker 1: are playing other than their playing. That's all I'm going
- 39:57Speaker 1: to say. Got the text line and still blown up
- 40:00Speaker 1: about my question about that they're coming home. They're gonna
- 40:03Speaker 1: be a Friday, a day off tomorrow, then they have
- 40:05Speaker 1: a Friday series against Kansas City. I'm heading to the
- 40:09Speaker 1: Windermere Cup and festivities today out of U dub. The
- 40:13Speaker 1: Windermere Cup is on Saturday. I believe it's great Britain
- 40:16Speaker 1: coming this year. I'm gonna do a thing with a
- 40:19Speaker 1: big ten network talking about the Windermere Cup. If again,
- 40:21Speaker 1: it's at the top of the show. If you've never gone,
- 40:23Speaker 1: go Saturday around nine am at the Montlake Cut last
- 40:26Speaker 1: till about eleven, not just you dub rowing, all kinds
- 40:29Speaker 1: of youth, seniors, fours eight through the Montlay Cut. A
- 40:34Speaker 1: unique setting, just beautiful and a stadium like setting because
- 40:38Speaker 1: of how narrow the channel is and grass on both sides,
- 40:41Speaker 1: and people can watch rowers from all over the world
- 40:44Speaker 1: say it's the most unique setting they've ever been. Usually
- 40:47Speaker 1: have to be on some log boom way out in
- 40:49Speaker 1: the middle of water to see a regatta like this.
- 40:52Speaker 1: It's a unique setting we have here in Seattle. If
- 40:54Speaker 1: you've never gone to the Windermere Cup, go Saturday morning
- 40:57Speaker 1: at the Mount Lake Cut. They close the mont Lake Bridge.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Stand on top of the bridge and look down on it.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Seeattle Man, Chris. You gotta go check it out. Sometimes
- 41:04Speaker 1: pretty cool and Finessa's up next, Greg Bell, Christopher Kidd.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Thank you for listening. We'll be back again tomorrow. I's
- 41:11Speaker 1: got you now from twelve until three. Have a great
- 41:13Speaker 1: day on ninety three point three kJ R F M.
