Luna: Oh, verbs. That sounds... exciting? Lucas: It is exciting! Verbs are the action words. They make sentences move. And we're starting with two super useful ones: to eat and to drink. Luna: Okay, I can get behind that. I do both of those every day. Lucas: Exactly. So let's learn how to say them in Amharic. First: to eat. Listen closely: መብላት. Luna: መብላት. Lucas: You got it. መብላት. That's the verb in its infinitive form. Now, to say 'I eat', we say: እበላለሁ. Luna: እበላለሁ. That's a mouthful. Lucas: It is. But you said it well. Let me break it down: እበላለሁ. Repeat after me: እበላለሁ. Luna: እበላለሁ. Lucas: Perfect. So if you want to say 'I eat bread', you say: እንጀራ እበላለሁ. Luna: እንጀራ እበላለሁ. Bread, that's እንጀራ, right? From the bakery episode? Lucas: Yes! Good memory. እንጀራ is bread. So እንጀራ እበላለሁ means 'I eat bread'. Luna: Okay, I think I can remember that. እንጀራ እበላለሁ. Lucas: Exactly. Now the second verb: to drink. In Amharic: መጠጣት. Luna: መጠጣት. That one's a bit tricky.
