- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for some more Amharic practice? I'm excited. Lucas: Today we're going to review two very useful words from our last episode: foot and shoe. Luna: Oh, I remember those. እግር is foot, and ጫማ is shoe. Right? Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with እግር. Say it with me: እግር. Luna: እግር. Lucas: Good. Now, how do you say 'my foot'? Luna: እግሬ. That's with the possessive ending. Lucas: Perfect. And if your foot hurts, you can say 'እግሬ ይታመማል'. Try it. Luna: እግሬ ይታመማል. My foot hurts. I hope I don't have to say that often. Lucas: Me neither. Now, let's move to shoe: ጫማ. Repeat after me: ጫማ. Luna: ጫማ. Lucas: And 'my shoe' is 'ጫማዬ'. Can you guess how to say 'new shoe'? Luna: Let me think... አዲስ ጫማ. Because አዲስ is new. Lucas: You're catching on. Now, 'I bought new shoes' would be 'አዲስ ጫማ ገዛሁ'. Say it. Luna: አዲስ ጫማ ገዛሁ. I bought new shoes. Lucas: Great. Let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're at a shoe store and you want to try on a pair. How would you say 'my foot hurts'? Luna: እግሬ ይታመማል. The salesperson might bring me a bigger size. Lucas: Exactly. And if you find some nice ones, you can say 'አዲስ ጫማ ገዛሁ'. Luna: አዲስ ጫማ ገዛሁ. I love how that sounds. Lucas: You know, making these episodes for you is a joy. Fexingo is listener-supported, and a few of you help out at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. That's what keeps us ad-free and making many of these. Luna: Yeah, it really does. And we appreciate every bit of support that lets us keep teaching. Lucas: So, back to practice. Let's try a mini conversation. I'll be the shoe seller. Luna: Okay, I'm the customer. Ready. Lucas: ሰላም! እንዴት ነህ? Luna: ደህና ነኝ! እግሬ ይታመማል. አዲስ ጫማ እፈልጋለሁ. Lucas: Wow, you said 'my foot hurts, I want new shoes'. That's impressive. Luna: Thanks! I've been practicing. Lucas: Let's do one more round. Repeat after me: እግሬ ይታመማል. Luna: እግሬ ይታመማል. Lucas: አዲስ ጫማ ገዛሁ. Luna: አዲስ ጫማ ገዛሁ. Lucas: And that's today's episode. Keep practicing these words, and we'll see you next time. Luna: Ciao from Luna! Lucas: And from Lucas. Keep learning with Fexingo.
