- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: You connect with them for, I don't know, 15, 30 seconds, maybe a minute or two, but because of time and things that nature, you don't have enough time to really get into the nitty-gritty of the gospel.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: And you'd like something to give to them.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this gospel tract is the one that you might need.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: It says, on the inside, just a while ago, our paths crossed for a few brief moments.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: We exchanged a few pleasant trees, and then we went our
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: But if we had been together a few minutes longer, I would have looked for the opportunity to ask you this question.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know for sure that when you die, you will go to heaven.

- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: First Samuel chapter number 17 is where we are today.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: First Samuel chapter 17, let's look here.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Verse number, oh, chapter, verse 17, verse 29, and David said, what have I now done?
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Is there not a cause?
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: David, of course, in the Scriptures, right here.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: He is talking to his brothers.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: He's talking to the men of Israel because they've seen this man galif.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: Come off the other hillside across the valley of Elah on the other mountainside.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: And he has just absolutely lambasted them.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: He has absolutely denigrated them.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's offended the God of Israel and nobody's doing anything about it.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: And David here says, is there not a cause?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Verse number 30.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: And he turned from one from him toward another and spake out to the same manner and the people answered him again after the former manner.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Basically, he's looking at people.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's there not a cause, is there not a cause?
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: Is there not a cause?
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 31,
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: And when the words were heard, which David Spake, they rehearsed them before Saul and he sent for him.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Now remember, King Saul and David have some history.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: At this point, not really a bad history, King Saul has this evil spirit about him.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: He has a bad attitude and the Chamberlains and the advisors of King Saul advised him that they need to go find a young man that plays the harp beautifully, plays a good music and just have it kind of playing
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: to kind of appease Saul, Spirit, and David becomes that young man, that's chapter 16 of First Samuel.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: And so King Saul hears about that young man that he knew, the son of Jesse, who's saying some brash, some bold, some what almost seems bragged, oh shit, sayings here, and David said to Saul, verse 32, let no man's heart fail because of him.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: Die, servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: And Saul said, David, thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him for thou art, but a youth, and he, meaning a lie, a man of war from his youth.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: We talked the other day about how when we declare war, when we say we've got to do something, is there not a cause, number one,
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: we've got to be available.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: We've got to be aggressive.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: David is aggressive here, but then we have to be willing to take action.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: And it's apparent that David is willing to take action in these verses right here.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: He's willing to talk to everyone around him in class.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: including the king, and realize the Bible tells us that King Saul was not a small man himself.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: He was head and shoulders above the people, not just in spirit, not just in temperament, not just in his identity, but physically he was a very large man, and David, who Saul describes as but a youth, is talking him and saying, we've got to do something.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: David said, unto Saul, verse 34, thy servant kept his father's sheep and their camel lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock, and I went out after him and smoked him and delivered it out of his mouth, and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and smoked him and slew him.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear, and this unsurclicized philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he had defied the armies of the living God.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: He is more than available.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he is aggressive.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to take action.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: What does he say here?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: First number 37.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: And David said more over.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: The Lord that delivered me out of the Paul the Lion.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And out of the Paul the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine pause there for just a moment.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: When we declare war on the world, the flesh and the devil,
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: When we decide that we've had enough, that we're done with playing patty cake with the devil, we're done with shaking hands with sin, we're done, we want to wash it off, we want to live in a righteous manner, realize of course, we're never going to reach some of those perfection, we're never going to be perfect, but at the same time, we can fight against wrongdoing.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: We can try to live as righteous as possible.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: When we decide that we're going to declare war, because the world has already declared war on us, when we're going to do that, we've got to do something else, not only be available, not just be aggressive, that just take action, but in the militaristic sense, we've got to recall ambassadors.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: You see, when a war kicks off, you don't just leave your ambassadors or on foreign fields to negotiate things, now there are times for negotiations, but there comes a time to place when you evacuate the embassy.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: When you say it's not safe for any of our people to be around here anymore, but let's think about that for just a moment.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: What am I talking about when I say we call ambassadors?
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's a time, and there's a place to compromise.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, among the family dynamic, sometimes in the workplace, sometimes in different circumstances of life, there's a time to compromise, I don't mean compromise convictions or principles or Bible things.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about there's a time to meet on some middle ground.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: But when it comes to sin, friend, there is no room for compromise.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's time to recall ambassadors, to often we act like we talk tough, we want to put on a perception to our Christian brethren and sisters that we, we're going to declare war on sin.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to live a holy life.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be all we should be, and we put on our Sunday morning best, and we live a little fair circle.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because while at one one hand, we talk a good talk.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: we don't at the same time walk, a good walk.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: What am I talking about?
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: What you do on Sunday is not what makes you.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: What you do on Sunday, friend, is not what makes you a good Christian.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: What you live on Monday, in Tuesday, and Wednesday, in Thursday,
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: and Friday, and yes, on Saturday.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: That is the mark of a true Christian.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: I heard it put this way, I'm gonna let me think for just a month, make sure I word it correctly.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was a man who said a wise man, I think was spurred, and maybe moody.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: That character is the test, I'll paraphrase, character is the test of what a Christian does in the dark, meaning basically what you do when the lights turn out, that is who you are as a real Christian.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's the mark of character.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: Could I go one further?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: I heard it put this way, very sagely, that not to disagree with Spurgeon and Moody, whoever was, has said that.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: But instead of character being a test of Christians in the dark, wouldn't character be more wisely stated as a test of those who just stay out of the dark, who stay out of those temptation circumstances, who just stay away from the eyes of the Bible says abstained from all appearance of evil.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: See, David was not going to go down into the valley of E-look and meet with Goliath and just howdy with him for a little bit.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: They weren't going to break bread.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: They weren't going to just go out for a cup of coffee and talk through through differences and figure out, where's the middle ground?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Here, how can we compromise?
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: How can we reach an amicable solution, friend?
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: No, there were irreconcilable differences between the Philistines and the Israelites.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing was going to be hashed out.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: There were no need for ambassadors.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: There was no need for an negotiation.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: friend can I also say there's no need for negotiation with sin in your life some things are just tumors that need to be cut out completely.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: The sooner we learn this lesson the sooner we have the opportunity to actually live a triumphant Christian life.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Not to skip too far ahead but David goes out there and he confronts Goliath and what happens?
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: Goliath ends up with a stone in the middle of his forehead.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: He falls down and then David detaches his head from his body and holds it up.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to think about that grizzly, grizzly atmosphere of a picture there of him holding up with the gore and the blood dripping out of the bottom of me.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Say that sounds like I don't wanna hear that this hour of the day.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Well friend,
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's how you need to get serious with sin.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: There's no room for negotiation anymore.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's time to get deathly serious.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Can I talk to you, Teenagers?
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: Just a moment.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, just maybe you can't handle your phone right now.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe there are too many things available to you on your phone that are absolutely stunting your Christian growth.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe there's some things you're looking at listening to or a party too, that you know you just need to cut out of your life.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: Can I back up for just a moment, parents, adults?
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you can't handle your phone either.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you can't handle your computer.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Friend, I won't go into the statistics, but the amount of the percentage of you under the center of my voice that habitually look at things on your phone, tablet device computer that you know or go against the righteousness of a holy God, the percentage of you that do that habitually is insanely high.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: And you know if I'm talking to you right now.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: friend, it's time to do surgery.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's time to stop negotiating.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's time to take drastic action.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's time to declare war.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: Time to encourage you to declare war today.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I also exhort you to join us one more time for the Bible Trek Echoes Radio Broadcast this week.
