- 0:02Hello welcome to he's hot but something's off we're back we
- 0:08took a couple of weeks break so the last time I did a podcast I
- 0:14just have to pull up my spreadsheet here everything in
- 0:16my life is in spreadsheets August 14th and now we are
- 0:21September welcome to September. I just did a post yesterday on
- 0:26my Patreon just text post because I was so my list of
- 0:34topics to talk about to podcast about is FN bursting out of my
- 0:42phone because not just because I haven't done an episode in a
- 0:47couple weeks, but because I did a whole trip to Asia and I
- 0:52recently coming back from Asia. I got sick so, so many like
- 0:57little stories, obviously from the travel.
- 0:59I've got a ton of stories. I did the whole travel vlog.
- 1:02I just edited the first part of the travel blog.
- 1:06Whenever I do a trip, especially a longer trip, I have so much
- 1:11vlog footage that it just has to be split up into multiple parts.
- 1:16And on the longer trips, sometimes I'll do like a mukbang
- 1:21basically I'll sit down in front of some food and I just talk to
- 1:25the camera. Sometimes I just talk to the
- 1:27camera just like just to talk to you guys, almost like, almost
- 1:32like a mini podcast. So it doesn't make sense to have
- 1:37a video that's like an hour long for a vlog.
- 1:39So I break it into more easily digestible chunks.
- 1:45But anyways, yesterday I just edited the first part of the
- 1:49vlog from the trip to Bangkok and Singapore that I just did a
- 1:54couple weeks ago in August. And I think it's going to be up
- 1:59to seven or eight parts if I split everything into like 12 to
- 2:0315 minute episodes because I feel like if it gets too much
- 2:07longer than 15 minutes, I don't know, it feels a little bit
- 2:11long. So anyways, all my mid and upper
- 2:16tier Patreon subscribers, the mid tier is Magnet and the upper
- 2:21tier are the Opas. They always get my travel vlogs,
- 2:26and the first part of the travel vlog from this trip to Asia will
- 2:29be posted this coming Tuesday. Whatever date is like September
- 2:35the 9th I think. Yeah, next week Tuesday will be
- 2:37the very first part, and there'll be a new part every
- 2:40week until all the parts are uploaded.
- 2:43Anyways, I am super excited to be podcasting again.
- 2:47I had set out to take the last two weeks off because I was
- 2:53travelling. And then there's like the
- 2:54Labour. I just used the Labour Day to
- 2:56like not have the podcast, another episode, to be really
- 2:59honest. But then I got sick coming back.
- 3:01I was in Singapore and it was like the last night slash the
- 3:07day I was checking out the hotel and I got a little bit of a sore
- 3:12throat. But here's the T sometimes after
- 3:18I've had a lot of sex, IE like done a lot of collabs in like a
- 3:20short span of time and have therefore sucked a lot of you
- 3:24know what, sometimes it just because I've been doing so much
- 3:30of that with my mouth that sometimes there's a little bit
- 3:36of physical trauma to my throat. And I've had it happen a couple
- 3:40of times where because I was, I'm so good at my job that I do
- 3:46have that little bit of physical trauma to that bit of my throat.
- 3:50And then you just get like a little ache there, like a little
- 3:54bit of discomfort. But it's not because I got sick.
- 3:58It's not a viral, A bacterial. It's not anything like that.
- 4:02It's just because, you know, so I thought when I got a little
- 4:06bit of that discomfort that very last day in Singapore, I
- 4:10thought, oh, it like, I've been doing so many collapse in such a
- 4:14short amount of time. I've never done that many
- 4:17collapse in that short number of days before.
- 4:20I thought, oh, maybe it's because like a little physical
- 4:23trauma, not nothing major, let's just see what happens.
- 4:27But then it turned out that it wasn't because there was a
- 4:31little bit of physical trauma. It's because I was starting to
- 4:34have the very beginnings of a sore throat.
- 4:36I didn't feel sick. Luckily, I didn't feel sick.
- 4:40I didn't have any of the other symptoms kick in until the day
- 4:46after because I got back Wednesday morning into Los
- 4:50Angeles. And that day that I got back, I
- 4:54felt fine. I didn't feel sick at all.
- 4:57I actually went to the gym a few hours after I landed back
- 5:00because I was trying to adjust back to the time zone.
- 5:03So it was a red eye flight. It was like a 13 hour red eye
- 5:07flight and it landed back 9:00 AM in the morning.
- 5:09So I tried my best to sleep as much as I could on the flight to
- 5:13adjust back to the West Coast time zone.
- 5:16Did OK there. So when I got here 9:00 AM, the
- 5:20thinking was let's try to stay up as much as I can so that I
- 5:25can try to go to bed at a normal hour in Los Angeles time.
- 5:29So I didn't feel tired when I came back, luckily.
- 5:32So it I, I didn't really have that much jet lag luckily.
- 5:36But that day that I landed back on Wednesday, felt fine, went to
- 5:40the gym because I hadn't been to the gym in two weeks, because
- 5:44when I was over in Asia, I, I made zero attempt at exercising.
- 5:48I didn't even think about going to the gym.
- 5:50I didn't have gym clothes. I didn't have just none of that.
- 5:53And so when I came back, you know what, I had to keep myself
- 5:57up, you know, for like the next 14 hours or so.
- 6:00I don't feel particularly tired. I don't feel sick.
- 6:03I don't think I was sick at that time.
- 6:05So I went to the gym, didn't do a heavy duty session, just to
- 6:08move my body around a little bit.
- 6:10But the next morning when I woke up, and a lot of the times when
- 6:13I get a cold or the flu or something like that, it's when
- 6:17you wake up 1 morning and you feel like something is off.
- 6:21It feels like I'm getting sick. And for me, a lot of the times
- 6:25the sore throat is the very first symptom that I get.
- 6:28So I woke up the next day and it wasn't like it just hit you.
- 6:32Sometimes you get the flu and it just like hits you like a ton of
- 6:35breaks just comes on really, really quickly.
- 6:37Or I think I've never gone strep before, but I heard that if you
- 6:40have strep throat, the feeling of being I'll hits you quite
- 6:45quickly. But it wasn't like that will
- 6:46come on Thursday. And I was like, it just feels a
- 6:48little bit off. But anyway, since Thursday, I've
- 6:53just been basically chilling on my couch, just milking it every
- 7:00time I get sick, especially when I used to have the day job,
- 7:05every time I would get a cold or fever or whatever, I wasn't shy
- 7:11about taking days off or just like working from home.
- 7:15But I used to always have this kind of common mentality, at
- 7:21least in America where, you know, it's all like work, work,
- 7:24work at this mentality. Like, OK, take the least amount
- 7:28of sick days as possible. Like minimize how many sick days
- 7:32you take and just like try to be back to work or whatever as soon
- 7:37as you can. I feel like this mentality that
- 7:39a lot of American workers have, like, you know, it's frowned
- 7:42upon to take too many vacation days.
- 7:44It's frowned upon to take too many sick days, blah, blah,
- 7:47blah, blah, blah. But then every time after I am
- 7:52well again and recovering my back work, I always look back on
- 7:55the days where I took sick days and I was like, I should have
- 7:59the days that I did take off. As in I should have just like
- 8:04fully let myself relax on the days that I did take off instead
- 8:08of like checking emails on the side or like just trying to work
- 8:11from home. You know, I always look back
- 8:13after the sick days as in I just kind of wasted those sick days.
- 8:16Like if if you're taking a sick day, just take a sick day.
- 8:19So now that I don't have the day job anymore and it's not a sick
- 8:25day per SE, I like I can kind of do whatever I want because I'm
- 8:27self-employed. But Thursday when I woke up and
- 8:31I felt like the little off, I didn't really feel that sick.
- 8:33Like this was not, it was a very minor cold slash, whatever viral
- 8:38infection. I'm like 98% now.
- 8:41But Thursday when I woke up, I was like, you know what, we need
- 8:44to milk these sick days. We're going to do nothing.
- 8:48We're going to do absolutely nothing.
- 8:49Well, on Thursday, I did have to in the morning, I did have to do
- 8:52a couple of work things that have been backlogged while I was
- 8:55in Asia, but I did those couple of things.
- 8:58I spent that morning. I worked a couple hours.
- 9:00But after that, from Thursday afternoon all the way until
- 9:04what, Monday, throughout the long weekend, it was just Labor
- 9:08Day weekend. I did nothing.
- 9:10I didn't let myself do any amount of work at all.
- 9:13And it was kind of perfect because I just got back from the
- 9:15trip. OK.
- 9:16I'm kind of sort of getting sick.
- 9:18I just want to be able to like recover as quickly as possible.
- 9:23And it was a long weekend so it was just like the perfect excuse
- 9:26to literally not do anything. I didn't move from my couch.
- 9:29I didn't even want to leave the house, which meant I ordered
- 9:35groceries and ordered food. One of the things I love to eat
- 9:39after any sort of trip away out of town is fuck.
- 9:44I love fuck. Anyways, one of my most favorite
- 9:47things to eat, one of my favorite foods is pho.
- 9:51So I especially with a sore throat, just having like broth
- 9:55and noodles, it's like very soothing.
- 9:58You know, like certain things you don't want to eat when you
- 10:00have a sore throat like toast because it's just going to like
- 10:04be scratching your sore throat. It's just like uncomfortable.
- 10:08You don't want to have like fried chicken because that it
- 10:11just hurts your throat even more when your throat's already
- 10:13hurting. So things like broth soup,
- 10:16etcetera is great. So I did order for a couple of
- 10:20times. OK, I this seems like a tangent
- 10:25I'm about to take, but it's not really it it you're going to see
- 10:30how all these things come together at the end of this
- 10:33episode. I I swear, I promise.
- 10:35At the same time, I'm also getting rid of my car.
- 10:39OK, I know this seems like a complete tangent, but hear me
- 10:41out. OK.
- 10:43So I don't drive very much. I've gone to a point where I
- 10:47live in a location that is so central and I've kind of figure
- 10:52out like which grocery stores I go to and like which gym and
- 10:56like which restaurants and all that kind of stuff for all the
- 11:00essentials. I don't really need to drive.
- 11:03I go to the gym. It's walking distance and at the
- 11:07gym, dissert Trader Joe's and that's where I get a lot of my
- 11:11groceries and most of my groceries, especially the stuff
- 11:13that's perishable. For stuff that's not perishable,
- 11:17I tend to prefer to want to order it from Amazon or Walmart,
- 11:20you know, like olive oil, cereal, just anything that's not
- 11:25perishable. Like I'd rather just have it
- 11:27shipped to me. But that's like the most
- 11:29convenient. So my car this new car that I
- 11:33got two years ago, it mostly just sits but I don't drive
- 11:38anywhere for work. I did 2 trips to Vegas.
- 11:42If you guys are on my Patreon I have seen those travel vlogs.
- 11:45You wouldn't have seen it. I did 2 round trips to Vegas in
- 11:49this car this year and after 24 months even with those 2 little
- 11:54Rd. trips I have barely 4000 miles on this car.
- 11:59But 24 months barely 4000 not 40,004 thousand like 4 digits
- 12:054000 miles barely just over that.
- 12:09It's kind of a waste of a car and having a car is very
- 12:12expensive. OK you have like the car payment
- 12:17and then you have insurance. You have to pay registration
- 12:20every year. Then you have to feed it gas or
- 12:23feed it electrons. So basically this car, I've done
- 12:28the math because I do a budget. So like every I I know every
- 12:31cent that comes in and out of my accounts.
- 12:34The car is just under $1000 to maintain every month just to
- 12:39have it barely be moving. If I drove more, it would
- 12:42actually cost more, but to pay nearly $1000 to not even really
- 12:49need it? For me, I don't really need a
- 12:50car. I think I always thought that,
- 12:53oh, you live in Los Angeles, you need a car.
- 12:56It just feels like everybody has a car.
- 12:57It just feels like you need a car because everything's so far
- 12:59away. But having lived here for like a
- 13:02few years now, I've learned that, oh, I actually don't need
- 13:06a car. I may have needed a car when I
- 13:08first moved here because I hadn't like, I didn't settle
- 13:13into the neighborhood yet. I was doing a bunch of like home
- 13:16improvement things and I still like buying furniture.
- 13:19And it kind of sort of took a couple of years to really like
- 13:22fully settle into the neighborhood and to like this
- 13:24house and have it all furnished and all that kind of stuff.
- 13:26But now that I've been here for a little while without buying
- 13:30furniture, really like the car gets so little use that I'm
- 13:34actually getting rid of the car early.
- 13:36So I'm in the process of getting rid of the car.
- 13:38But I'm a car person. I love to like drive a car.
- 13:42I love having a car. I'm a car enthusiast.
- 13:45The only thing that I now use my car for regularly is going to
- 13:52the airport, but I do travel somewhat frequently still.
- 13:54So I to and from the airport, but I've been taking Weibos to
- 13:58the airport, which we'll talk about separately, and that's
- 14:00been working pretty well. The other thing is just getting
- 14:02groceries. And also, I will drive to,
- 14:07instead of getting food delivered to my house, I will
- 14:12drive to the restaurant to pick it up myself because a few
- 14:16various credit cards and various things, I've have credits for
- 14:21Grubhub, credits for Uber Eats, credits for DoorDash, all that
- 14:25kind of stuff. And I take advantage of those
- 14:28credits that I get every single month.
- 14:30But it's so expensive to order food because there's a delivery
- 14:37fee and then there's some sort of service charge and then like
- 14:40you have to tip the driver, like just those three, the tip and
- 14:45the service fee and then delivery fee.
- 14:46That could easily be $15 or $20.00 for an order of food.
- 14:52You're gonna nearly double the price of the food.
- 14:55And I found out that I would just drive to the restaurant.
- 15:00I would rather, I would much rather just drive to the
- 15:02restaurant. I'll drive 15 minutes to a
- 15:04restaurant, pick up the phone myself, drive it home.
- 15:06I saved the service charge. I saved the delivery fee.
- 15:09I don't have to tip someone. I would tip myself.
- 15:11I would give myself $5 to go, drive 15 minutes to the
- 15:15restaurant to pick up the food myself and bring it home myself.
- 15:18So I've been doing that for like several months.
- 15:20But I want to use these free credits that I'm getting for all
- 15:22these food delivery services, but I don't want to have to pay
- 15:27all these add on charges for the food.
- 15:31Anyways, this is where it ties into like me being sick recently
- 15:35is when you're sick depend on how sick you're.
- 15:38I wasn't even that sick, but it was like, you know what, I'm
- 15:41going to melt the sick days, right?
- 15:43Let's just order the go shoes that I need instead of like
- 15:45having to like get dressed and look how presentable and then go
- 15:49out. And like also, I don't want to
- 15:50like spread my germs to other people.
- 15:53It's like, OK, let's just do an order of two of groceries just
- 15:57to like get through the long weekend.
- 15:59I really wanted to eat pho, so I ordered pho a couple of times.
- 16:04And then also there was one I've already felt like bubble tea.
- 16:06You know, when you're sick, you're allowed to have some of
- 16:08these things, OK? You can have like a few extra
- 16:11niceties to make yourself feel better.
- 16:12And for me, that was pho and boba.
- 16:15So how this ties into this whole car thing is getting rid of the
- 16:19car, you know when I made it doesn't get rid of the car.
- 16:21I was thinking instead of paying nearly $1000 for the car, I have
- 16:26saved so much money by not paying for a car that I can
- 16:28spend a little more money than I have before on just delivery
- 16:32services. You know, if I'm not going to
- 16:35drive to a particular grocery store that's a little further
- 16:38away to get certain things, I can just do Instacart or like a
- 16:43bunch of the delivery services like like on Uber Eats.
- 16:47You can also do grocery items and convenience store items as
- 16:50well. Same for DoorDash.
- 16:53I think they're all branching out beyond just like, you know,
- 16:56food orders. It's like you can do like an
- 16:58Instacart or you can do I have a Walmart Plus membership, which
- 17:01is like Walmart's version of Amazon Prime and Walmart does
- 17:04groceries. Walmart is one of the largest
- 17:06gochers in the States. And yeah, I can just have
- 17:10Walmart do me, just deliver some of the groceries.
- 17:12But like, if I'm saving nearly $1000 and not having a car, I
- 17:15can afford to spend, you know, a few bucks on delivery charges
- 17:20and service charges and tipping a driver like I'm.
- 17:23If I'm saving 1000 bucks, I'm totally happy to do that.
- 17:26So this weekend when I was sick, it was like the perfect chance
- 17:28to actually test out that idea, that concept.
- 17:32So here is where things are going wrong.
- 17:37I ordered PHA with a boba and what I've noticed sometimes when
- 17:43I do food orders is sometimes the driver goes to the next
- 17:47building over. I don't know why.
- 17:49I I I don't know why I don't know why but it's on.
- 17:53If you go on Google Maps it shows you which building it is
- 17:56and Google Maps conveniently kind of pops up a little
- 17:59thumbnail off the front of the building when you search
- 18:01something. Have you noticed that if you put
- 18:02an address into Google Maps, it will put a pin on the map, but
- 18:07also like have a little thumbnail, like a Street View
- 18:11thumbnail in the corner of like what the front of that building
- 18:14looks like? It's kind of foolproof.
- 18:16Like they had Google Maps for very many long years and they
- 18:19know what they're doing. Anyway, it's order fundable, but
- 18:22it was like the middle day. It was like 2:00 PM and I'm
- 18:26tracking it. But since the food gets closer,
- 18:28the Uber or the Grubhub or whatever app, it tells you, oh,
- 18:30your driver's approaching, blah, blah, blah.
- 18:32So I knew that the driver was pretty much here and I was
- 18:37waiting for my doorbell. Like someone could buzz into
- 18:41your building. I'd have an app that comes up.
- 18:43I was waiting for that to come up and it didn't come up.
- 18:46And sometimes, you know, like someone else is entering the
- 18:49building at the same time as your delivery driver or like
- 18:52Amazon's delivering something or the mail person is there.
- 18:54I'm like 30 forty, 50% of the time.
- 18:56Sometimes they don't ring because like the doors just open
- 18:58and they don't need to ring. So it's like it didn't ring.
- 19:01So it's like, oh, maybe they just tell get it back to someone
- 19:06and then I got a call. But sometimes the driver might
- 19:09call, you'd be having trouble with something.
- 19:11I got a call. So like I picked it up as I knew
- 19:13it could be the driver. And then I get this automated
- 19:16message from Grubhub or Uber Eats or whatever that says like,
- 19:19oh, like some legal mumbo jumbo and like we're going to connect
- 19:22it to your, I don't know what kind of fancy call system they
- 19:26have to connect the drivers with, like the customer, if the
- 19:29driver needs to call you. So it's like, I don't know, 10
- 19:32seconds of this like automated message about whatever voice
- 19:35system they have. And then the phone call just
- 19:37hangs up. I'm like, OK, I tried.
- 19:39Next thing I get from the app, it says your order is delivered
- 19:43and it shows you a photo of the delivery.
- 19:46So the photo is this person leaving my pho and boba outside
- 19:53the door of the next building over, like just sitting on the
- 19:56street. And I'm like, I'm not feeling
- 20:00100% and I am looking at this and I'm just like, Oh my God,
- 20:04they've delivered to the wrong address again.
- 20:06Like this happens like once it's, it's like a 5 or 10%
- 20:11chance. It's like one in five or like
- 20:12one in 10 times that sometimes the delivery goes to the next
- 20:15door. I don't know why.
- 20:17I, I, I don't know why. So it's like 2 PMS, like broad
- 20:22daylight. I have these tie dye colored
- 20:25shorts that I wear just around the house.
- 20:29Don't ask. We don't have time to get into
- 20:31why I have tie dye coloured shorts.
- 20:32It's not my style. I just have them.
- 20:34They were free. OK, they were free.
- 20:36I wear them around the house just as like pyjama shorts, but
- 20:40I'm just in my house. I'm alone.
- 20:41I don't need to like look good. I have fashion sense for that.
- 20:45So I get this photo and like the guy has just like left it on the
- 20:49sidewalk outside the door of the next building over.
- 20:52So I'm like hastily like throwing on the nearest jacket
- 20:57and then I'm still wearing these tie dye coloured shorts.
- 21:03But I'm like, all I need to do is walk one building over down
- 21:07the sidewalk and pick up my food before someone gets it.
- 21:12There are some homeless people around here and like you don't
- 21:15want food sitting on anyways. So I was like upset that it got
- 21:19diverted to the wrong building and the person just left it
- 21:23there. So I have these tie dye coloured
- 21:25shorts. Raw daylight outside is very
- 21:27sunny in Los Angeles as it usually is.
- 21:29Just this first jacket that I that I have hang around, just
- 21:33threw on the jacket, no hat, no glasses, grabbed the keys and
- 21:37just walked out. And I walked on the side of my
- 21:40building. But that's like the fastest,
- 21:42easiest way to get from my unit. I exit out the back door, I go
- 21:46along the side of the building and then I just kind of come out
- 21:49the side of the building at the front where the sidewalk at the
- 21:51front of the building is. I come out, the first thing I
- 21:55see is there's a guy walking his dog leisurely, kind of sort of
- 22:00like about to come out in front of me.
- 22:02Like he was rocking virtually what's on my way.
- 22:05And I've seen that guy before recently.
- 22:07He obviously like lives in a neighborhood, walking his dog,
- 22:09whatever. He was kind of cute, not that
- 22:12not like him, but he's kind of cute.
- 22:13And I've seen him before, I think while I was driving and
- 22:17like pulling up to the building or something like that.
- 22:20But just how gay and Elway I am, I'm like speed walking.
- 22:27It looks like I'm on a mission because I'm a little groggy.
- 22:30I'm not like 100% I'm upset that the order get didn't get
- 22:33delivered to the right address. Like how do you get your address
- 22:35wrong? And all I want to do is like
- 22:38remain in my house. The whole point of ordering food
- 22:42is that you don't need to go outside.
- 22:46And for me it's like OK, it's ruined.
- 22:48It's completely the only reason to do the order and pay the
- 22:50service fee, the delivery charge and tip is that I don't need to
- 22:53leave the house. Otherwise I would just get in my
- 22:56car and go to restaurant myself and save like $15.00.
- 22:59So that's the state I was in just to paint that picture for
- 23:03that mental picture for you. So I'm speed walking on a
- 23:07mission, not looking, not looking like anything honestly.
- 23:13Looking like the rag that you used to wipe your table with and
- 23:17throw off to the corner. Anyways, I walk outside and then
- 23:20there's this guy. I'm like obviously there will be
- 23:23a cute guy walking his talk that's seeing me in my tie dye
- 23:27pajama shorts in a jacket face looking like shit.
- 23:30No, just I'm not even supposed to be outside.
- 23:34Anyways, I was like. Then I speed walk on a mission
- 23:38down the sidewalk very quickly. Wearing flip flops, by the way,
- 23:41but I couldn't be bothered putting on proper shoes.
- 23:43And then there's this chick walking her dog on her phone and
- 23:47she did not care where her dog was going.
- 23:49So I had to like, leap over this stupid bitch's dog.
- 23:52It's not the dog's fault. It's her fault because I need to
- 23:55get to the next building over to like pick up my fault and my
- 24:00boba neutrus. I tried a different boba place.
- 24:07This is 1 boba chain that has a few locations all over and
- 24:11there's a couple locations to have that's close to my house
- 24:13now. You should just order from them.
- 24:15Here's the T OK, if you ever go to a boba place and you get a
- 24:21get A to go. I mean I guess all boba is
- 24:24pretty much to go. Boba is a 2GO type of a drink.
- 24:27If they don't give it to you in a cup that's sealed on top with
- 24:31like plastic or cellophane or whatever.
- 24:34If it's not like completely sealed, don't go to that boba
- 24:38place. It's the proper way to do boba
- 24:41really is they put it in a cup and then they put the boba or
- 24:45whatever they put the drink in. And then especially if it's
- 24:48supposed to be to go for delivery, they have like a
- 24:51vacuum plastic Saran lit seal thing where it's a seal to the
- 24:55top so that it's like waterproof.
- 24:57You can like shake it around and upside down.
- 24:59It's not going to leak. OK, This brand of new Bobo place
- 25:03that I tried, they used a regular like slushy cap.
- 25:10You know what, that slushy cap that's like half domed.
- 25:14It's it's like a Dome and it's just got like a hole on top.
- 25:18So it's not not at all sealed. I don't know how this delivery
- 25:22driver got it to my house without spilling it in the car.
- 25:26Because if it was my car, like if I went to this bulbar place
- 25:30and picked up this Bulba, first of all, I'd be like, do you have
- 25:33a different lid before I drive around with this in my car?
- 25:37And the second thing is I would need to put it into like the
- 25:39actual cup holder into my car. And a lot of the delivery
- 25:42drivers, they're not only delivering your order, they're
- 25:44delivering like 3 people's order at the same time.
- 25:46There's no guarantee there's going to be cup holder, precious
- 25:49cup holder space for your drink in their delivery vehicle.
- 25:52OK, but it's like sitting on the sidewalk with this cap.
- 25:57It's like open. I looked at it and I got even
- 26:00more mad. Anyways, I picked up the picked
- 26:03up the boba, picked up the pho, walking back towards still on a
- 26:08mission, still walking fast, walking back towards my place.
- 26:10This stupid bitch's dog is still in the way.
- 26:12Or she's in the way. Honestly she's honored for not
- 26:14caring my anything. And it by this time the cute guy
- 26:18with his dog, like I have to rock right past him, but he's
- 26:21coming my way. So it it makes sense that God
- 26:28and the universe would set me up for me to do this, you know?
- 26:32It's just the luck of the draw. Separately, I ordered groceries.
- 26:40I ordered something from, I ordered something from like
- 26:42Walmart to Amazon. I think it's Walmart because I
- 26:45have the Walmart Plus membership and I had gone to Trader Joe's a
- 26:49few days before. But like one thing that I kind
- 26:51of forgot and I was running low on was Caesar salad dressing.
- 26:55So I was like, OK, I can just go on Walmart and I, I'll order,
- 26:59it'll get delivered like later that day.
- 27:01So I ordered the Caesar salad dressing and I also ordered some
- 27:05bread. OK, so the box comes and I order
- 27:113 packs of this bread, just Chihatta bread.
- 27:15The bread is there. The Caesar salad dressing is not
- 27:18in the box. You know, for people that order
- 27:23stuff from Amazon all the time, for example, which is probably a
- 27:25lot of you, you know, if you do 100 orders from Amazon, there's
- 27:28going to be like one or two where something is missing or
- 27:33the quantity isn't right. You know, a 99% accuracy rate is
- 27:37actually pretty good. You know, I've had it before
- 27:40where like very rarely, once in a great while, something will be
- 27:45a little off, like I didn't get one of the items that I ordered
- 27:48or I didn't get the exact right item.
- 27:51Actually with Amazon, it's not that the item is different.
- 27:55It's usually that one of the items might be missing.
- 27:59It's I don't think I've ever had it where I got a different item
- 28:03than the one I ordered, but I know they have a barcode.
- 28:05Now that I'm, I know how to like sell stuff on Amazon.
- 28:08I know a bit about the process they have everything you get at
- 28:11Amazon has like a barcode and they use that barcode to track
- 28:15to see if you're being shipped the thing that you ordered, like
- 28:21what goes in the box. All the items, the barcodes get
- 28:24scanned. So I think it's very rare for
- 28:25them to pack the wrong thing. But anyways, the one thing that
- 28:29I placed that order from like the bed was just like I think to
- 28:32min order minimum or something like that so I can threw the
- 28:35bread in but the thing I wanted didn't come and it's no good
- 28:40that they're going to give me a refund for it.
- 28:42It's like I wanted Caesar salad, just need to eat my fucking
- 28:45Caesar salad and I can't because they mess up the order and they
- 28:49didn't put that in the box. I did a separate order for
- 28:55groceries so that with the C style dressing that was just a
- 28:58regular online order that was like shipping.
- 29:00You can also do a what's called a delivery order from Walmart,
- 29:04which is kind of like how Instacart works for like
- 29:07groceries. Like someone at a Walmart store
- 29:10will go through the store and like pick off the shelf the
- 29:13things you want and they will like have a driver like drive it
- 29:16to your house and deliver it like Instacart style, you know,
- 29:19grocery style. So you can do groceries and also
- 29:22do other things that they sell in the store, which is like
- 29:23obviously a lot of stuff at Walmart and I forgot.
- 29:26I, I did some grocery type stuff.
- 29:28I, I, I don't know exactly what order.
- 29:29I'll do some salad, some grocery type things.
- 29:33And there was one thing that was just like, it was something
- 29:37else, Like there was something I was just like missing.
- 29:39I did another grocery order from Walmart just like a a couple
- 29:43months ago and they gave me one bag of someone else's groceries
- 29:49and I was missing one of my bag of groceries.
- 29:55So the way all these delivery mishaps ties into like me being
- 30:03sick and how that ties into the car is I basically experience
- 30:10over this long weekend where I did multiple deliveries of food
- 30:13and for groceries and just like shipment of stuff from Walmart
- 30:16and Amazon, how it can be unreliable.
- 30:22I think for the stuff that's like you order from Amazon, that
- 30:25comes from like their distribution center or from the
- 30:28warehouse. Same for like the Walmart
- 30:30orders. I think those are probably like
- 30:3199%. But if you have to have like a
- 30:36human being pick stuff off a shelf and then drive the order
- 30:40to your house or a human being is like picking up a restaurant
- 30:43food order and driving to your house.
- 30:45When it's like one of those types of deliveries, I feel like
- 30:51the chance of something going wrong.
- 30:53I mean, I got an it was an unlucky weekend, I think, but it
- 30:57was just after this weekend. I was like, do I really want to
- 31:00entrust all my all the things I need to get for the house to
- 31:06delivery like Instacart and like Walmart and Amazon when this is
- 31:10how bad it can get like this long we can show us how wrong
- 31:13orders can be. And again, you're paying the
- 31:17service fee, the delivery fee, like a membership fee.
- 31:19You have to tip the drivers. I've done the math.
- 31:23If I can get a car cheap enough I think I would rather get
- 31:28another car instead of paying for Instacart, paying for Amazon
- 31:32prime, paying for Walmart plus, and then on top service fee,
- 31:36delivery fee the tip order goes to like the next order doesn't
- 31:40even get to my door. It's the next building over and
- 31:42it's like a drink that's not sealed like some flies or
- 31:45whatever can like crawl into it. And then my order is missing the
- 31:49Caesar salad dressing and I'm getting someone else's bag of
- 31:51groceries. And on my own, I would rather
- 31:54pay overall. Like if I looked at, you know,
- 31:58how much I would spend on grocery deliveries and getting
- 32:01ride shares versus just having a car and just doing what I'm
- 32:05doing now, which is I never order groceries online.
- 32:09I never order groceries. Like I'm always buying my own
- 32:11groceries with the car or just I'm when I'm walking to the gym,
- 32:14I'll go to the Trader Joe's. I don't have food delivered to
- 32:17my house. I drive to the restaurant and
- 32:19that's only to use like the credits that I have.
- 32:21Otherwise I wouldn't order food at all.
- 32:23And then I'll drive to the airport.
- 32:25But it makes sense. I've done the math.
- 32:27If I can get a car cheap enough, it's actually not really more
- 32:31expensive for me to just have a car.
- 32:33When I add up, like all the service fee deliveries,
- 32:37membership fees, all that stuff is those fees are so expensive.
- 32:39Now, at least when I for someone who lives in middle LA that you
- 32:43know what, I just have the car. This is the very radical way to
- 32:48to justify to you. I'm actually looking for another
- 32:50car. My current car, the old car is
- 32:52going away. We're doing the paperwork for
- 32:54that now. It's too expensive.
- 32:57Like just pure from a financial point of view, given that I
- 32:59barely drive, I don't need that expensive of a car.
- 33:02Like it's almost $1000 everything in.
- 33:04If I get a different car, I still need to pay for insurance,
- 33:06I still need registration, I still need to charge or gas it
- 33:10up. Yes, but if I can't find a cheap
- 33:13enough car, it's not really going to be much more expensive
- 33:17than all these crap delivery service membership, whatever
- 33:20fees, and I don't have to. Like I can rely on myself to
- 33:25pick up the things I need when I go shopping, and I won't drive
- 33:29to the wrong house and think it's my own.
- 33:32I won't go to the wrong address. I won't accidentally grab
- 33:35someone else's bag of groceries. I won't forget to like, I won't
- 33:40forget to put something in my cart that I've bought at the
- 33:42store that I've paid money for, you know, stuff like this.
- 33:45Like when you pay all that extra money, I am sorry to harp on
- 33:49about this. When I'm paying like all these
- 33:51extra fees and the order like doesn't even come to the right
- 33:53address. Like the driver can't even look
- 33:55up to be like, oh, I'm at the wrong building.
- 33:58What the fuck? What the absolute fuck?
- 34:02I'm not gonna have it. I'm not gonna have it.
- 34:06So there you go. I hope you, I hope you enjoyed
- 34:10this rant. So the plan is I'm talking to
- 34:13actually, I have a car broker. This broker got me my current
- 34:16car, which I love this car. I, you know, it's just because
- 34:20it's so expensive. I'm getting rid of it and
- 34:22there's some really good deals on electric cars right now.
- 34:25There's a whole other topic we're not going to dig into that
- 34:28we're not here to talk financing cars and stuff like that.
- 34:31But there's some really good deals on some like certain cars,
- 34:34especially a lot of electric cars that sometimes the payment
- 34:37is so dirt cheap. Some of these are going for like
- 34:41130 to like 150 bucks a month for the car payment, you know,
- 34:46at that price, I mean, I'm just going to drive myself.
- 34:51So there you go. I we're back.
- 34:54We're back for the podcast and yeah, stay tuned for the next
- 34:58episode coming off Thursdays as usual.
- 35:02I will, as usual, record the bonus uncut episode of this
- 35:07podcast just for my Patreon subscribers and they this coming
- 35:12episode for I should post uncuts on the weekend, so in a couple
- 35:17of days when I post the next uncut episode because my Patreon
- 35:21subscribers are very special to me.
- 35:23I love interacting with them. I really truly do those in the
- 35:27uncut as the title suggests. That's where I give them like
- 35:30the T on like the juicer things I can't talk about just on like
- 35:34the regular public free for all podcast that this episode is.
- 35:39So if you want to hear a little bit of T about, oh, I don't
- 35:43know, the collapse that I did in Asia, yeah, go subscribe to my
- 35:47Patreon, go over there. It's only $3 to get onto the
- 35:50entry level tier and that gets you all of the uncut episodes of
- 35:54the podcast. So there you go.
- 35:56Or if you want the travel vlogs, yeah, the mid tier is only
- 35:58$7.00. Honestly, like all the service
- 36:02fees and stuff that I, Oh my God, what I'm trying to say is
- 36:05my Patreon is a fucking steal compared to like Uber Eats and
- 36:09like Grubhub and all these fees they charge and left for the
- 36:12deliveries and all that kind of stuff.
- 36:14You can see how I'm like very anti delivery.
- 36:16Now there's I, I don't have anything against the people that
- 36:19do it. OK, this one driver got the
- 36:22address wrong, doesn't mean that driver is a bad person.
- 36:27I'm just saying from my point of view, like you can understand
- 36:30how it's frustrating when your order lands at the wrong
- 36:33address. This person clearly didn't
- 36:35intend to deliver to the wrong address.
- 36:36Like I said, there's like a little bit of a trend, like one
- 36:39in 10 deliveries goes to this other whatever.
- 36:41So like there must be some logical reason why sometimes
- 36:44people confuse the next building over for my building.
- 36:48But I just from my point of view, I would just rather not go
- 36:52through all that trouble. So that is all, and until next
- 36:56time, we'll leave it there. I'm like 98%.
- 36:59OK, Now my voice has fully come back, which is why I can do
- 37:02these podcasts. And yeah, stay tuned for more.
- 37:06Until next time. Bye all.
