- 0:00Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 0:03Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 0:07Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 0:11Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donald J.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Trump's leadership.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm Christy nom the United States Secretary of Homeland Security.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings are at the
- 0:29Speaker 1: lowest levels ever recorded, and over one hundred thousand illegal
- 0:33Speaker 1: aliens have been arrested. If you are here illegally, your
- 0:37Speaker 1: next you will be fined nearly one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and deported.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You will never return.
- 0:44Speaker 1: But if you register using our CBP home app and
- 0:47Speaker 1: leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Do what's right. Leave now.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Under President Trump, America's laws, border and families will be protected.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Brandon is educated as well, so he is a professor
- 1:05Speaker 4: at the University of Pennsylvania's Business School, which is Warton
- 1:09Speaker 4: and as I said before, that's one of the best
- 1:11Speaker 4: business schools in the country. So aside from being football player,
- 1:15Speaker 4: aside from being a real estate investor, aside from working
- 1:18Speaker 4: on We even talked about him working on Wall Street.
- 1:20Speaker 4: He also it's too much to talk about, but he's
- 1:22Speaker 4: also a educator. So financial literacy is something that we're
- 1:26Speaker 4: very passionate about. Can you talk about your class, because
- 1:29Speaker 4: your class is interesting it correct me if I'm wrong,
- 1:31Speaker 4: but it's called Inequity and Empowerment in Urban Financial Literacy.
- 1:35Speaker 4: That's the name of it. So that's an interesting title,
- 1:39Speaker 4: and I kind of assume I know what that means.
- 1:41Speaker 4: But can you talk about the class? We started start
- 1:44Speaker 4: off the conversation with the class about that.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Yeah, so.
- 1:48Speaker 6: Technically it's not in Warton, it's in the urban school,
- 1:51Speaker 6: Urban Studies School, just to put that out there so
- 1:54Speaker 6: they don't come down. And but it's when I thought
- 2:00Speaker 6: of the class I thought about. I was actually on
- 2:05Speaker 6: the ride through Detroit looking at real estate opportunities with
- 2:09Speaker 6: a couple of players, and one of the players mentioned
- 2:11Speaker 6: in the vackseat about, hey man, I just wish when
- 2:13Speaker 6: I was in college we had a class on that,
- 2:15Speaker 6: you know, talked about taxes and budgeting and houses and
- 2:18Speaker 6: buy your house and all that type of stuff. I'm like,
- 2:20Speaker 6: I mean, that's not just something that athletes need, that's
- 2:23Speaker 6: something that we all need, right, Like, how do you
- 2:26Speaker 6: just and you had the conversation. I was like, how
- 2:28Speaker 6: do you just pick athletes who you think are going
- 2:31Speaker 6: to the league or not? You know, like everybody should
- 2:34Speaker 6: have that. So from there my wheel started running. And again,
- 2:39Speaker 6: like as I said, I'm impulsive. When I get passionate
- 2:41Speaker 6: about something, that's like how do you make it happen?
- 2:43Speaker 6: So it's been a few years of trying to get
- 2:47Speaker 6: the school to buy in, and I was fortunate to
- 2:50Speaker 6: come across my co professor, doctor Brian Peterson last year
- 2:54Speaker 6: at our Just College five year reunion. I told him
- 2:56Speaker 6: about the idea and then he took it and ran
- 2:58Speaker 6: with it and dealt with the the school pitch. You know,
- 3:04Speaker 6: you know me, I'm just a creative So you know
- 3:08Speaker 6: I come to you with the idea like, yes, ya,
- 3:10Speaker 6: I'm willing to put the work in behind it, But
- 3:12Speaker 6: I didn't know you need to. You know, you need
- 3:13Speaker 6: a syllabus, you need a course outline and all that stuff.
- 3:16Speaker 6: So anyway, for me, the class premise is like let's
- 3:20Speaker 6: talk about all the different things that you deal with
- 3:22Speaker 6: in life that we just let's just talk about them, right.
- 3:26Speaker 6: For some reason, We've gone through these schools and gone
- 3:28Speaker 6: through all these I've gone through sixteen years of school myself,
- 3:32Speaker 6: and no one ever taught me how to buy my
- 3:34Speaker 6: first house, right, No one ever taught me about the
- 3:38Speaker 6: cost of renting or how to invest.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Right.
- 3:41Speaker 6: We have these classes that talk about finance and statistics
- 3:45Speaker 6: and all that stuff. Yeah, but like what's the real
- 3:49Speaker 6: life application, you know? And I remember as an intern
- 3:53Speaker 6: on Wall Street, I was like, you know, we had
- 3:55Speaker 6: these classes, and I think, you know, I had these
- 3:58Speaker 6: econ classes and finance classes, and I'm like, Okay, I
- 4:01Speaker 6: should be pretty well prepared as compared to a student
- 4:06Speaker 6: who hasn't had this stuff. But then when I went
- 4:07Speaker 6: into it, I'm like, yeah, we didn't talk about any of.
- 4:10Speaker 7: The Funny thing about that is like I feel the
- 4:14Speaker 7: same way about education. Like we went to school, right,
- 4:17Speaker 7: and we learned we had to take all these tests
- 4:19Speaker 7: and pass them to be certified. And I went to
- 4:21Speaker 7: grad school forward and I got put in New York
- 4:24Speaker 7: City and all the things that they talk out the window,
- 4:28Speaker 7: you're gonna learn right now, right, Today's Yeah, you know,
- 4:31Speaker 7: And one of the lessons I try to tell up
- 4:34Speaker 7: and coming teachers is like, listen, you're gonna be tested
- 4:36Speaker 7: every day. You got to really put the mindset there today.
- 4:40Speaker 7: I'm gonna win this battle because I know I'm fighting
- 4:42Speaker 7: for them, you know what I mean. So, like that's crazy,
- 4:44Speaker 7: Like you're doing that in finance too. It's the same thing. Like, wait,
- 4:47Speaker 7: I went to the school for all this and I
- 4:49Speaker 7: know nothing.
- 4:51Speaker 5: I literally have to start over, right, and so.
- 4:55Speaker 6: You know, taking that is like literally the premise of
- 4:59Speaker 6: the class. I nicknamed it life one on one, and so.
- 5:03Speaker 8: We talk about credit.
- 5:04Speaker 6: I always felt like too, like I sat in these
- 5:07Speaker 6: classrooms and you know, as a kid who a kid
- 5:11Speaker 6: from Baltimore learning and all that type of stuff. I've
- 5:14Speaker 6: been fortunate enough my parents valued education, so I've really
- 5:18Speaker 6: valued it myself. And still, even though I feel like
- 5:22Speaker 6: I'm a bright individual, I was sitting in some of
- 5:26Speaker 6: these classes and I would have to like the teachers
- 5:28Speaker 6: would just talk over my head however long the lecture was,
- 5:32Speaker 6: and I was like, you know, people would throw around
- 5:36Speaker 6: terms good debt versus bad debt and all that stuff,
- 5:38Speaker 6: and you feel afraid to ask a question like you know,
- 5:40Speaker 6: I don't want to see much stupid.
- 5:42Speaker 7: Feel like everybody else must.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Know, right, you know, like he's talking like they like
- 5:45Speaker 6: maybe I didn't get this in my high school or something, right,
- 5:49Speaker 6: and then you know, so I'd end up youtubing it
- 5:51Speaker 6: or figuring out on my own or just through life
- 5:54Speaker 6: and experience. And I'm like, it shouldn't be like that, right,
- 5:56Speaker 6: Like you're paying all this money.
- 5:57Speaker 5: To go to school.
- 5:58Speaker 8: We should talk about this. You should feel comfortable asking
- 6:01Speaker 8: this question.
- 6:01Speaker 5: So that's the class we started.
- 6:04Speaker 6: We cover everything from like I said, invest in budgeting, taxes,
- 6:07Speaker 6: your gross pay versus your net.
- 6:11Speaker 5: How to buy a house.
- 6:12Speaker 6: Our very last class, we had a it's called we
- 6:14Speaker 6: called it Financing your Dream Company, an entrepreneurship panel. We
- 6:19Speaker 6: end up having a huge My goal, as I told
- 6:23Speaker 6: the students, my goal is to make this financial information, uh,
- 6:27Speaker 6: financial literacy, all that type of stuff.
- 6:29Speaker 8: Has to make this information accessible to all for free.
- 6:32Speaker 6: And so this class was really a pilot and just
- 6:36Speaker 6: a launching point to build and to figure out what
- 6:40Speaker 6: works and all of that type of stuff. But what
- 6:42Speaker 6: we did our second to last class, we had a
- 6:44Speaker 6: bunch of high school students from Philly come in and
- 6:48Speaker 6: then my students taught those students these different We had
- 6:52Speaker 6: five different topics, but taught them this stuff.
- 6:54Speaker 5: And one the reason for that was me.
- 6:57Speaker 6: One, I don't it's not that I don't care about grades,
- 6:59Speaker 6: but care about grades is. But two, it's more of
- 7:02Speaker 6: like I feel like, if you can teach someone how
- 7:06Speaker 6: to teach or no, so not how to teach. I
- 7:10Speaker 6: wanted to teach them how to teach this information to
- 7:13Speaker 6: other people that they learned. Yeah, so like I want
- 7:16Speaker 6: you to be able to share this information with your cousin,
- 7:19Speaker 6: your family, your mother, your sister, your brother, and spread
- 7:22Speaker 6: this information a similar way that I'm doing it to
- 7:24Speaker 6: my family. Give your family access to change their own lives,
- 7:29Speaker 6: right as opposed to sadly, what we do in society
- 7:32Speaker 6: is we get information and now it's my information. I'm
- 7:35Speaker 6: gonna get a leg up on you where it's like
- 7:37Speaker 6: you're not my competition.
- 7:38Speaker 5: Right.
- 7:39Speaker 8: So we had our students teach it.
- 7:42Speaker 6: To high school students because of the mone I figured
- 7:44Speaker 6: if you can break it down on a high school level,
- 7:46Speaker 6: then you probably have a pretty good understanding of it.
- 7:49Speaker 8: But two, it also just is giving.
- 7:52Speaker 6: Us that ripple effect as a classroom and when I
- 7:55Speaker 6: tell you you've got these one of the biggest things.
- 7:58Speaker 5: That schools are.
- 7:59Speaker 6: People push back on as, oh man, you don't you
- 8:02Speaker 6: know people already know this information you know, and you're like, no,
- 8:06Speaker 6: we don't.
- 8:07Speaker 5: When did I learn it? When did you teach it
- 8:08Speaker 5: to me? Right? Like, if nobody ever taught me. I
- 8:10Speaker 5: told this to the students as well, nobody.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Ever took me.

- 10:19Speaker 2: These are just.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 10:24Speaker 1: Donald J.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the.

- 11:04Speaker 6: If I asked you what two plus two is, you're like, man,
- 11:07Speaker 6: that's a stupid question, right, you've learned that.
- 11:09Speaker 8: If I asked you, like, okay, well, how do you
- 11:10Speaker 8: buy your first house?
- 11:11Speaker 5: Right?
- 11:12Speaker 3: Like, what do you need?
- 11:13Speaker 7: Uh?
- 11:14Speaker 8: Well, you probably need it. If I ask you what's
- 11:17Speaker 8: the four to one k?
- 11:18Speaker 9: Right?
- 11:18Speaker 5: Well, you know some people people might be like, well
- 11:20Speaker 5: you should know that. How who taught me?
- 11:23Speaker 4: And that's what that's something that because you know, I
- 11:24Speaker 4: post videos sometimes and me teaching and some it's always
- 11:28Speaker 4: a couple of comments like, well, financial literacy shouldn't be
- 11:30Speaker 4: taught in school, We shouldn't rely on schools. People should
- 11:33Speaker 4: be teaching at home. True of course, but if your
- 11:35Speaker 4: parents aren't prepared to teach you, and what about those kids?
- 11:38Speaker 4: And that's the vast majority of kids, right, So it's
- 11:41Speaker 4: like they say, okay, well, yeah, of course everything should
- 11:43Speaker 4: be taught at home. But if that's the case, what's
- 11:45Speaker 4: the point that even going to school? Yeah, so to
- 11:47Speaker 4: teach our kids everything at home.
- 11:49Speaker 7: Working in the education system, right, this is like my
- 11:51Speaker 7: seventeenth year in education. But that was part of the
- 11:53Speaker 7: reason when I was like I saw Shoty, I'm like, look,
- 11:55Speaker 7: I need your help, Like you're a financial advisor, I
- 11:58Speaker 7: need your help, Like I know that these kids aren't learning.
- 12:00Speaker 7: And I felt like I was doing a disservice. So
- 12:03Speaker 7: I'm like, all right, well I have six weeks to
- 12:04Speaker 7: help these kids, right, And I was like, listen, I
- 12:07Speaker 7: need your help. Come in and just teach these kids
- 12:09Speaker 7: these lessons and it was like when we started seeing
- 12:12Speaker 7: the return on it every year, it was like, oh,
- 12:14Speaker 7: this is amazing.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:15Speaker 7: So like being in the system and no one is
- 12:17Speaker 7: a disservice, like we got to give back. So like
- 12:19Speaker 7: you going back to Philly to take kids, Like that's dope, right,
- 12:22Speaker 7: and you're doing it at the college level, right, And
- 12:25Speaker 7: our program is you know, from high school kids getting
- 12:29Speaker 7: getting ready for college, but also this year we'll launching
- 12:32Speaker 7: one for elementary school kids, right because the earlier they
- 12:34Speaker 7: get the knowledge, now their parents can learn and these
- 12:37Speaker 7: kids are learning, so they prepared. By the time we
- 12:38Speaker 7: get to high school, they're going to be advanced, right, right,
- 12:41Speaker 7: So we're just trying to start earlier and earlier, right,
- 12:44Speaker 7: and we need more people doing that, right. So that's
- 12:46Speaker 7: what drew us, Like drew me for sure, Like five
- 12:48Speaker 7: thirty in the morning, I'm reading, I'm like, oh, I
- 12:50Speaker 7: got to meet this guy because he's on the same path.
- 12:52Speaker 4: And then also at that my Lexcelna question leads right
- 12:56Speaker 4: into as far as getting back right, we spoke about
- 12:59Speaker 4: that off camera a little bit. Can you talk about
- 13:01Speaker 4: that as far as like the importance of that and
- 13:03Speaker 4: why because a lot of times people don't like you said.
- 13:06Speaker 4: I think I read a book one time that we
- 13:07Speaker 4: operate from an attitude of scarcity instead of abundance, meaning
- 13:11Speaker 4: that it's like, Okay, if me and you from the
- 13:13Speaker 4: same neighborhood you make it to the league, I'm gonna
- 13:16Speaker 4: be depressed because I'm like, the percentage of somebody making
- 13:18Speaker 4: it is like one out of one hundred. Now you
- 13:21Speaker 4: made it, So now my percentage is like, I'm done.
- 13:23Speaker 4: I can't make it statistically, It's like it's not of
- 13:25Speaker 4: saying like, yo, I'm gonna use you as an example
- 13:27Speaker 4: that I can make it. So we look at that
- 13:29Speaker 4: and it carries over them a lot of things like Okay,
- 13:31Speaker 4: I got a million dollars. I can't teach somebody else
- 13:34Speaker 4: how to make a million dollars because I've already beat
- 13:36Speaker 4: the odds. So I can't diminish my eyes by trying
- 13:40Speaker 4: to spread the wealth.
- 13:40Speaker 5: You know what I mean.
- 13:41Speaker 6: It's said, So yeah, my wife and I always start
- 13:45Speaker 6: this foundation called Beyond the Basics.
- 13:46Speaker 5: Think it is right here. We throw football cams.
- 13:50Speaker 6: We take kids on shopping spreeze for Christmas, feed single
- 13:55Speaker 6: parents Thanksgiving, and I think that you know, that's just
- 13:59Speaker 6: our heart and what we feel called to do. And
- 14:03Speaker 6: that's actually like the best part of everything that I do.
- 14:06Speaker 6: I feel like when it.
- 14:08Speaker 8: Talks when you talk about giving back.
- 14:11Speaker 6: I shared this with the students as well. I share
- 14:13Speaker 6: this with people. I think that there's a lot of
- 14:15Speaker 6: people in this world. This is the way I think
- 14:16Speaker 6: of my life and whether I'm right wrong, and whatever
- 14:21Speaker 6: I'm doing, I'm sharing it and I'm letting you know that. Hey, Like,
- 14:26Speaker 6: I don't have all the answers, Like I told them
- 14:27Speaker 6: my students at the first day, I don't have all
- 14:29Speaker 6: the answers, right, Like, there's there's experts for all of
- 14:33Speaker 6: this information.
- 14:33Speaker 8: That's the reason why you hire an accountant.
- 14:35Speaker 6: That's the reason why you hire an investment advisor, a
- 14:38Speaker 6: financial advisor. That's the reason why you hire a credit
- 14:40Speaker 6: repair specialist to handle these different tranches of your life,
- 14:44Speaker 6: the reason why you hire a realtor. Like, I don't
- 14:46Speaker 6: have all this information, but I will get the people
- 14:49Speaker 6: in front of you. I have a little bit about
- 14:50Speaker 6: all this stuff, and anything I don't know, we'll learn
- 14:53Speaker 6: on the fly, right, That's cool with me. I'll take
- 14:57Speaker 6: that humble approach to teaching and of being a vessel.
- 15:01Speaker 5: But what I always.
- 15:02Speaker 6: Tell people is there's people who write these tell All books.
- 15:05Speaker 6: You know, they're fifty some years old. Right, this is
- 15:07Speaker 6: how I mask my wealth and all that type of stuff.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Right.
- 15:10Speaker 6: And there's one there's a bunch of young kids who
- 15:14Speaker 6: is reading that, well, I just read such and such book,
- 15:16Speaker 6: and you know, now I'm gonna try to do it
- 15:17Speaker 6: like this and this and this, right, which is great,
- 15:20Speaker 6: you know, you're sharing that wealth of knowledge. I always
- 15:22Speaker 6: think that those the person who wrote the book, the
- 15:27Speaker 6: author's peers at that age group were probably looking at
- 15:30Speaker 6: this dude, like a dude or woman, like why the
- 15:33Speaker 6: did you just share this stuff while you were doing it?
- 15:35Speaker 8: Right?
- 15:36Speaker 6: Like why don't you tell me while you were taking
- 15:39Speaker 6: these risks? So that now we can all be writing
- 15:41Speaker 6: on tell All books, we can all be on these shots,
- 15:43Speaker 6: we can all be on this stuff, right. And that's
- 15:45Speaker 6: what I'm like, all right, like, let's just let's just
- 15:48Speaker 6: share as.
- 15:49Speaker 5: We go, right.
- 15:50Speaker 6: And for me, it's about taking a humble approach, or
- 15:55Speaker 6: making the information humble in the sense of like it's
- 15:59Speaker 6: not overwhelming.
- 16:00Speaker 5: It's not like there's.
- 16:01Speaker 6: Certain things that are complex, you know, more complex than others.
- 16:05Speaker 6: But all of this stuff is once you take some
- 16:09Speaker 6: time and dive into it, you're just like, what this is?
- 16:12Speaker 6: You know, this can be easy, And I think that's
- 16:14Speaker 6: sadly a lot of people trying to teach or a
- 16:17Speaker 6: lot of people trying to and you know, we're not
- 16:20Speaker 6: even talking about specifically giving back, but I look at
- 16:24Speaker 6: the professor stuff as one of my versions.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Of giving back.
- 16:27Speaker 6: Absolutely education and a lot of people trying to teach
- 16:31Speaker 6: or or give information they want you to think that
- 16:35Speaker 6: what they do is rockets.
- 16:37Speaker 7: You know, how we can tell is giving back because
- 16:40Speaker 7: you're doing it right. Those kids are being inspired and
- 16:42Speaker 7: you don't never know the impact, right, but they are
- 16:44Speaker 7: a bunch of athletes who are looking at you like wow,
- 16:47Speaker 7: like I could do that. I wish I could do
- 16:49Speaker 7: that right, And they're reaching out. Like when we posted you,
- 16:51Speaker 7: like a bunch of athletes were like, hey.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Well we have a lot of to the NFL. For
- 16:56Speaker 4: some reason, I don't know, but like half of the
- 16:58Speaker 4: NFL follows us, right, So we're getting more basketball players
- 17:02Speaker 4: out to Al Harrington shout out to a couple of
- 17:04Speaker 4: other league guys in the league. But I'm proud of
- 17:06Speaker 4: the NFL guys because they really taking financial literacy serious and.
- 17:09Speaker 7: They I don't think it's a coincidence, definitely.
- 17:12Speaker 4: And what you said was key as far as to
- 17:14Speaker 4: make the information understandable to the people. And I think
- 17:17Speaker 4: that's one of the driving forces behind our podcast is
- 17:19Speaker 4: that our people don't really want to read barons and
- 17:25Speaker 4: even I don't really want to read Baron.
- 17:26Speaker 5: I'm fall asleep when I'm.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Reading there, Like you know what I mean.
- 17:28Speaker 7: It's like.
- 17:28Speaker 4: But the information that we deliver, they know that it's
- 17:31Speaker 4: like a conversation they can have in a barbershop, but
- 17:33Speaker 4: these conversations aren't being had at the barbershop. So now
- 17:36Speaker 4: they can tune in once a week and they can
- 17:38Speaker 4: check it out and they And the good thing about
- 17:40Speaker 4: our platform is that everybody that we are bringing in
- 17:44Speaker 4: are from different walks of life, different areas, but the
- 17:46Speaker 4: one common denominator is that they all are willing to
- 17:48Speaker 4: share time and give out free game. And that's what
- 17:51Speaker 4: you just did, and it's commendable.
- 18:17Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 18:21Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 18:25Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 18:29Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan.
- 18:32Speaker 2: These are just.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 18:37Speaker 1: Donald J.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the.
- 18:40Speaker 1: United States Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted
- 18:44Speaker 1: illegal border crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded,
- 18:48Speaker 1: and over one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested.
- 18:51Speaker 1: If you are here illegally, your next you will be
- 18:55Speaker 1: fine nearly one thousand dollars a day.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Imprisoned and deported will never return.
- 19:01Speaker 1: But if you register using our CBP home app and
- 19:04Speaker 1: leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
