Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. Coming
- 0:07Speaker 1: up on today's show, Sarah Kearns begs followers to engage
- 0:11Speaker 1: with her paid promotion. Lily Brown is slammed for shaming
- 0:15Speaker 1: a sex worker for wearing her brand. And Sammy Robinson
- 0:19Speaker 1: hits back at claims she's.
- 0:20Speaker 2: A serial dater. But first, Chloe Zepp.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Has announced she's launching a new venture under her activewear
- 0:27Speaker 1: brand Zepp's Umbrella. It is called Self-Care Culture, and it's
- 0:31Speaker 1: been touted as an educational video platform that's designed to
- 0:35Speaker 1: inspire movement and mindfulness practices within the SEP community. At first,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I was like, it's just another influencer bringing out workout videos.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And I also thought it sounded very similar to her
- 0:47Speaker 1: previous venture, WellWeb, that absolutely bombed. However, there is a
- 0:52Speaker 1: big difference. So this platform is free. So to access it,
- 0:56Speaker 1: you just go onto the ZEP activewear website.
- 0:58Speaker 2: And currently there are.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Two videos available to watch. So one is a 10
- 1:02Speaker 1: minute guided mobility session and the other is a 20
- 1:05Speaker 1: minute guided Pilates session. I do think where they've missed
- 1:09Speaker 1: the mark though, is that Chloe isn't actually taking the sessions.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I do think, though, it's a good idea to give
- 1:15Speaker 1: something back for free because this is a way that
- 1:18Speaker 1: her community are going to buy in. They're going to
- 1:20Speaker 1: start enjoying these free videos. And then ultimately, I'm guessing
- 1:24Speaker 1: that she will bring out a paid form of this. Yeah,
- 1:28Speaker 1: I think it's very clear at the moment that Chloe
- 1:30Speaker 1: is being guided by a clever marketing team and building
- 1:34Speaker 1: a community is absolutely crucial, as you said, for influencers
- 1:38Speaker 1: with brands these days. And there is no better way
- 1:40Speaker 1: to do that than with free content. I do wonder
- 1:43Speaker 1: if she's taken inspiration from Steph Clare-Smith and Laura Henshaw's
- 1:46Speaker 1: business kick because she recently opened up in a Q &
- 1:49Speaker 1: A how she reached out to someone who she called
- 1:52Speaker 1: industry leaders when she was struggling with her business. She
- 1:56Speaker 1: is friends with Steph. Yeah, there was a lot of
- 1:58Speaker 1: speculation at the time as to who this industry professional was.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Many people thought it might have been Matilda Murray from Starks,
- 2:05Speaker 1: but I think you're right, Kate.
- 2:06Speaker 2: It probably was Steph Clare-Smith.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Now, on the topic of Chloe, her mum Cherie got
- 2:11Speaker 1: married over the weekend and it was a chance for
- 2:13Speaker 1: Chloe and Mitch to quash breakup rumours. So they shared
- 2:17Speaker 1: some very cute photos of them looking loved up together
- 2:19Speaker 1: at the wedding, as well as a video on the
- 2:21Speaker 1: dance floor. Now, Chloe and her sister Amy were bridesmaids,
- 2:25Speaker 1: which I thought was really cute. However, their third sister
- 2:28Speaker 1: Kate was a notable absentee. So Kate Zep hasn't posted
- 2:32Speaker 1: on her Instagram account since June 2023. And the latest
- 2:36Speaker 1: information I could find about her was from a Daily
- 2:39Speaker 1: Mail article.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Written in January 2024.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So in the article, it said that Kate and her boyfriend,
- 2:45Speaker 1: Jordan Roman Brennan, were suing the state of Queensland after
- 2:49Speaker 1: a police officer allegedly stole three luxury watches from their
- 2:53Speaker 1: townhouse during a raid. Now, that raid was a part
- 2:57Speaker 1: of an investigation. into allegations that Jordan assaulted a woman
- 3:01Speaker 1: who trod on Kate's foot at a music festival.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Do you remember that drama?
- 3:05Speaker 1: I do. That seems like it was so long ago. Well,
- 3:07Speaker 1: it was actually three years ago now, and the police
- 3:10Speaker 1: officer in question is facing criminal charges over the alleged
- 3:14Speaker 1: theft of the watches, valued at.
- 3:16Speaker 2: A whopping $ 410, 000.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Now, despite three years passing, the case against the police
- 3:23Speaker 1: officer is yet to be resolved. So Kate's boyfriend has
- 3:27Speaker 1: sued the state of Queensland to get the watches returned
- 3:30Speaker 1: or be compensated for their.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Value plus legal costs.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And the lawyer has now sought to add Kate as
- 3:36Speaker 1: a co-claimant with Brennan in that action. We haven't heard
- 3:39Speaker 1: anything since then. So I don't know if it has
- 3:41Speaker 1: been thrown out. So maybe Kate's got a bit too
- 3:44Speaker 1: much going on to rock up for her mum's wedding. Well,
- 3:47Speaker 1: there's something going on. She's gone completely MIA. You would
- 3:50Speaker 1: think you'd be there at your mum's wedding though.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It does signal that there must be some sort of
- 3:55Speaker 1: relationship breakdown, which is very sad.
- 3:57Speaker 3: You're the one throwing all the hate.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I don't think you've said a nice thing about me ever, ever.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Lily Brown has been slammed for shaming an OnlyFans creator
- 4:10Speaker 1: for wearing her brand. The loungewear owner ended up deleting
- 4:13Speaker 1: her comments, but the damage was already done.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Soph, can you tell us more?
- 4:18Speaker 1: Well, the OnlyFans creator in question is Tasha Page, who
- 4:21Speaker 1: has over 129,000 followers on Instagram. And late last week,
- 4:27Speaker 1: Tasha uploaded a video of her and her friends wearing
- 4:29Speaker 1: white t-shirts and pouring jugs of water over themselves to
- 4:33Speaker 1: expose their breasts. And the t-shirts just so happened to
- 4:37Speaker 1: be from Lily's brand Chill. And the name Chill was
- 4:40Speaker 1: clearly visible across the.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Girl's chest in the video.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Now, rather than being happy for the free brand exposure...
- 4:47Speaker 1: Lily hit out at Tasha writing on the reel, this
- 4:50Speaker 1: ain't it chicks. She also reposted a screenshot of Tasha
- 4:54Speaker 1: and her friend to her Instagram story and wrote, what
- 4:57Speaker 1: the fuck is going on here with three skeleton emojis.
- 5:01Speaker 1: She continued, please report this. This is not a chill campaign.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Now the backlash was swift. Women came out in full
- 5:08Speaker 1: force to support Tasha in the comments, causing Lily to
- 5:11Speaker 1: delete her original comment and Instagram story. Someone wrote, Lily babes,
- 5:15Speaker 1: it's 2024 and being insecure and projecting that onto someone
- 5:19Speaker 1: else is not it, chick. Now that comment got 184 likes.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Another person wrote, haha, Lily Brown being served has made
- 5:27Speaker 1: my day. She's always giving mean girl energy.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Love this, gals.
- 5:32Speaker 1: That post got 197 likes. And another comment read, lol,
- 5:36Speaker 1: Lily Brown forgetting she was on her main and not
- 5:38Speaker 1: burner for bullying women. That comment got 219 likes. I
- 5:43Speaker 1: am just at a loss to understand why Lily would
- 5:47Speaker 1: have brought attention to this video if she thought it
- 5:49Speaker 1: was so off brand. All she's done is brought attention
- 5:52Speaker 1: to the fact that her comments came across.
- 5:54Speaker 2: As very slut shamey.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I really thought that she would have been pleased that
- 5:59Speaker 1: someone with 125,000 followers or whatever it was, was promoting
- 6:03Speaker 1: her brand in this way. It seemed like quite a
- 6:06Speaker 1: fun video that got a lot of traction.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's super strange.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I do wonder if there's any merit to the comments
- 6:12Speaker 1: that she thought she was originally in her burner account.
- 6:14Speaker 1: We do know that she has one because we have
- 6:16Speaker 1: been allegedly messaged.
- 6:18Speaker 2: From it before.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but why would she write that in a burner
- 6:20Speaker 1: account anyway? I think she knew that she was in
- 6:23Speaker 1: her name. I think that she must have been receiving
- 6:26Speaker 1: a lot of direct messages about this video and and
- 6:29Speaker 1: felt alarmed that people were thinking this was genuinely a
- 6:32Speaker 1: chill campaign and she felt like this video didn't reflect
- 6:35Speaker 1: her brand properly.
- 6:36Speaker 2: It's done the complete opposite.
- 6:37Speaker 1: A lot of the commentary was not to support chill
- 6:40Speaker 1: because they don't appreciate the slut shaming.
- 6:43Speaker 2: From Lily Brown.
- 6:44Speaker 1: It is bizarre timing considering that she has just been
- 6:47Speaker 1: announced as a contestant on the celebrity edition of The
- 6:50Speaker 1: Amazing Race. A lot of people would have been going
- 6:52Speaker 1: over to her page and engaging with her off the
- 6:54Speaker 1: back of that news. So she will be appearing alongside
- 6:58Speaker 1: her boyfriend, Jet Kenny. And the news does put into
- 7:01Speaker 1: perspective some of what she's been saying recently on her podcast,
- 7:04Speaker 1: because she has been very open about struggling with money,
- 7:08Speaker 1: but then referencing this six.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Week trip to Europe.
- 7:11Speaker 1: So it's quite clear that this six week trip is
- 7:14Speaker 1: for the amazing race.
- 7:15Speaker 2: In a recent episode, Lily.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Did open up that she's had moments during the past
- 7:20Speaker 1: couple of years where she just wished that she stuck
- 7:22Speaker 1: at influencing instead of starting a business because it's just
- 7:25Speaker 1: so difficult. And the amount of money that you got
- 7:27Speaker 1: from influencing was far greater and far easier work. Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And she almost alluded to the fact that she's kind
- 7:34Speaker 1: of seeing how it goes with chill. She said she's
- 7:36Speaker 1: not going to shut it down, but I think this
- 7:39Speaker 1: amazing race thing will be very telling. So if she
- 7:42Speaker 1: takes off like Sky Wheatley did on I'm a Celeb
- 7:45Speaker 1: and becomes really popular, maybe she might move back into
- 7:48Speaker 1: the influencing or again, use it as a leap pad
- 7:52Speaker 1: for her own brand. Well, Jet Kenny is very likable.
- 7:55Speaker 1: And I think that Lily would have some really great
- 7:59Speaker 1: funny moments for TV. Maybe her facial expressions. She is
- 8:02Speaker 1: a walking meme. I think that she's perfect for these
- 8:06Speaker 1: types of TV shows. I do worry about trolling though,
- 8:09Speaker 1: or maybe her being turned into a villain. Yeah. Well,
- 8:13Speaker 1: in other Lily Brown news, her best friend and fellow influencer,
- 8:16Speaker 1: M Davies, shared that they're actually on the hunt for
- 8:19Speaker 1: a Perth videographer. So the videographer must have experience in
- 8:23Speaker 1: podcast style filming and long form video and editing work
- 8:27Speaker 1: for a project that they're working on together in July. However,
- 8:30Speaker 1: Em has confirmed that it's not a podcast.
- 8:32Speaker 2: So I wonder what it is.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Well, it's weird to outline that you want podcast style
- 8:37Speaker 1: filming and then say it's not a podcast. I'm wondering
- 8:39Speaker 1: if it's for an online course. Em Davies is bringing
- 8:42Speaker 1: out a social media course. So perhaps it's potentially for that.
- 8:46Speaker 3: As a busy mum of three, I love making our
- 8:49Speaker 3: mealtimes quick and easy, but ensuring that my growing boys
- 8:52Speaker 3: are being supported with nutritious meals.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Mummy blogger Sarah Kearns has asked the question every influencer
- 8:59Speaker 1: isn't supposed to ask. Can you engage with my content?
- 9:04Speaker 1: The influencer created a video as part of a paid
- 9:06Speaker 1: promotion with Big W for Mother's Day and shared it
- 9:09Speaker 1: across her Instagram and Facebook.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Now, it appears The.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Real wasn't performing the way she hoped because She shared
- 9:16Speaker 1: a message essentially begging her.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Followers to engage with the reel.
- 9:20Speaker 1: She wrote, Dear Facebook friends, I posted a reel for
- 9:23Speaker 1: a brilliant Mother's Day gift and I would be so
- 9:25Speaker 1: grateful if you would all blow it up with likes
- 9:27Speaker 1: and comments. I was so excited to work with this
- 9:30Speaker 1: brand and I'd love it to do well for them.
- 9:32Speaker 1: And I know you all friends will love the product.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I'm going to send a little Mother's Day gift out
- 9:37Speaker 1: to a random person who comments as a thank you. Now,
- 9:40Speaker 1: The Real ended up getting 694 likes, 56 comments, 76 send-ons,
- 9:46Speaker 1: and 58.6 thousand views. It's clear this promise of a
- 9:50Speaker 1: little gift has persuaded a lot of her followers to
- 9:52Speaker 1: jump in and comment and engage with this post. And
- 9:55Speaker 1: I do find it quite interesting that she says that
- 9:58Speaker 1: she wants this post to succeed for the brand. I'm sorry,
- 10:01Speaker 1: but it's clear that she wants this post to succeed
- 10:03Speaker 1: for herself because she wants to come back with that brand.
- 10:06Speaker 1: She wants to tell them how good the engagement is
- 10:08Speaker 1: so that they want to pay her and work with
- 10:09Speaker 1: her again. I can see why The Real didn't organically
- 10:13Speaker 1: perform well. I feel like we're in a time where
- 10:15Speaker 1: influencers just can't rest on their laurels because It's a
- 10:19Speaker 1: very saturated market and content creators are getting very good
- 10:23Speaker 1: at their jobs. And the idea of Sarah's Reel was
- 10:26Speaker 1: that she was on this mission to receive the greatest Mother's.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Day gift ever.
- 10:31Speaker 1: And she filmed herself in store at Big W reacting
- 10:33Speaker 1: very over the top about quite basic gifts. So it
- 10:36Speaker 1: was a Friends branded loungewear. She then dropped hints to
- 10:40Speaker 1: her family that she wanted the clothing as a gift
- 10:42Speaker 1: for Mother's Day. And in the end, she purchased the
- 10:45Speaker 1: gift herself, wrapped it up and planted it amongst the
- 10:48Speaker 1: array of other gifts her children had apparently bought her. Now,
- 10:52Speaker 1: if this content popped up in my feed, I would
- 10:54Speaker 1: have immediately scrolled past it. It wasn't shot very well.
- 10:58Speaker 1: It was boring and it was blatantly an ad. The
- 11:00Speaker 1: video didn't hit the mark for me. Maybe I'm not
- 11:03Speaker 1: its intended audience. But I think that a better strategy
- 11:07Speaker 1: perhaps could have been to initially offer a giveaway to
- 11:11Speaker 1: her fellow mums that are, you know, her followers that
- 11:13Speaker 1: are watching. I mean, she said that she'll give a
- 11:15Speaker 1: gift to one person, but maybe she could have tried
- 11:17Speaker 1: to get more engagement by offering a giveaway to begin with. Yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I think this just demonstrates the divide between genuine content
- 11:26Speaker 1: creators and influencers who made it big when social media
- 11:30Speaker 1: first started. So Sarah does list herself as a content
- 11:33Speaker 1: creator in her bio. But for them to beg for
- 11:36Speaker 1: engagement is quite embarrassing because you should be good enough
- 11:40Speaker 1: at your job that you create something that resonates with
- 11:42Speaker 1: people and that they want to actually engage with it.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I understand it is getting more difficult on Instagram to
- 11:49Speaker 1: get organic engagement, but I think a lot of influencers
- 11:52Speaker 1: are just using that as an excuse at the moment
- 11:54Speaker 1: because they got spoiled back in the day. They could
- 11:57Speaker 1: literally upload anything and get a bunch of likes on it.
- 12:00Speaker 1: There is now a lot of competition out there and
- 12:03Speaker 1: the industry is oversaturated. So you've got to be on
- 12:05Speaker 1: top of your game in order for your reel to
- 12:08Speaker 1: actually resonate with people and get engagement on it. The
- 12:11Speaker 1: whole thing just came across as really chewy. I do
- 12:13Speaker 1: hate to use that.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Word as a millennial, but.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Even the music she put over The Real, it reminded
- 12:19Speaker 1: me of the music that you put over a YouTube video.
- 12:22Speaker 2: 10 years ago. Yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And I just wonder how Big W would feel seeing
- 12:28Speaker 1: her Instagram story begging for engagement because if I'm that
- 12:33Speaker 1: PR manager or marketing manager, I'm instantly thinking they're only
- 12:37Speaker 1: engaging for the present. They're not buying into the message
- 12:40Speaker 1: that we're putting out there about Mother's Day. Yeah, well,
- 12:42Speaker 1: the thing is she didn't actually put it on her
- 12:44Speaker 1: Instagram story. She put it on her Facebook page. I
- 12:47Speaker 1: think she was trying to conceal it a little.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Bit from the brand. That is so deceptive.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just a terrible look, not only to her audience,
- 12:54Speaker 1: but as you said, to the brand. And I do
- 12:56Speaker 1: think it is pretty deceptive because it's not like the
- 12:59Speaker 1: brand would have benefited from those people putting fake comments
- 13:02Speaker 1: just so.
- 13:02Speaker 2: They would get a gift. And it's clearly just to.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Bolster her own numbers to report back to the brand.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I also noticed that on the post, she used the
- 13:12Speaker 1: word friends twice and she even capitalized it. And it
- 13:15Speaker 1: seemed like another desperate tactic to guilt her followers into
- 13:18Speaker 1: engaging with her content. Do you also think it's because
- 13:20Speaker 1: she was trying to promote Big W's range of friends clothing?
- 13:24Speaker 2: Potentially that as well.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I did notice that Sarah disclosed the partnership, but rather
- 13:29Speaker 1: than tagging Big W, she actually tagged a PR company
- 13:32Speaker 1: called Sterling Comms. Again, it seemed a bit deceptive because
- 13:36Speaker 1: While they may have set up the deal with her,
- 13:39Speaker 1: the company that's being promoted is Big W.
- 13:41Speaker 4: I'm so nervous. Why are you nervous? Talking about dating.
- 13:47Speaker 4: I don't know what it is.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I love talking about dating with you.
- 13:49Speaker 4: I love talking about it as well.
- 13:50Speaker 2: But not with a microphone. But I don't usually. Not
- 13:52Speaker 2: with a camera.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Sammy Robinson has hit out at claims she's a serial dater.
- 13:59Speaker 1: The fashion label founder said she's had three boyfriends in
- 14:01Speaker 1: her life with two relationships just so happening to quickly
- 14:05Speaker 1: follow suit. Sammy opened up about her past relationships on
- 14:08Speaker 1: Lily Brown's podcast as rumors swell of a new romance
- 14:12Speaker 1: with a mystery man. Soph, what did you think about
- 14:14Speaker 1: the interview? OG listeners will know that I am a
- 14:17Speaker 1: huge fan of Sammy Robinson. I love her content. I
- 14:21Speaker 1: think that she is a quality person and that became
- 14:23Speaker 1: clear in this interview.
- 14:25Speaker 2: She's very intelligent.
- 14:26Speaker 1: She's very business savvy, but I just couldn't stand how
- 14:30Speaker 1: much Lily Brown interrupted her during this interview. Sammy would
- 14:35Speaker 1: start to open up about some interesting health struggles that
- 14:38Speaker 1: she was facing, stuff that we've never heard before. And
- 14:41Speaker 1: Lily would flat out just yell as she was speaking
- 14:45Speaker 1: and then not follow up what she was talking about.
- 14:48Speaker 1: In another instance, Lily was asking Sammy about her relationship
- 14:52Speaker 1: with Jordan Simi and Lily interrupted the conversation to say
- 14:56Speaker 1: that it looked like she had a dick in her pants.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Like I just was just like, what is going on?
- 15:01Speaker 1: I get that this whole thing's being filmed. Maybe you
- 15:03Speaker 1: don't want your pants to be bunching up whilst you're
- 15:06Speaker 1: filming this. And you think that this is going to
- 15:07Speaker 1: be great on your socials, but it was so jarring
- 15:10Speaker 1: to listen to. Yeah. I think there was a big
- 15:12Speaker 1: focus on how it was going to become across being
- 15:14Speaker 1: filmed because I think the first 10 minutes could have
- 15:17Speaker 1: easily been edited out because it was Lily pouring Sammy
- 15:21Speaker 1: beers and shots and it really didn't translate very well
- 15:24Speaker 1: on an audio platform. I was really surprised to hear
- 15:28Speaker 1: that Sammy and Lily are friends. I didn't realize they
- 15:31Speaker 1: couldn't actually remember where they met, but they seem to
- 15:35Speaker 1: catch up every time that Lily is in Sydney because
- 15:37Speaker 1: Lily is based in Queensland. I think the friendship was
- 15:41Speaker 1: helpful in some regards and then unhelpful in others because
- 15:45Speaker 1: As you touched on, Sophie, Lily did interrupt Sammy a lot.
- 15:48Speaker 1: And I think it was because she already knew the information.
- 15:51Speaker 1: They discussed stuff off mic. So she didn't really have
- 15:54Speaker 1: that thirst to follow things up. However, I think when
- 15:57Speaker 1: it came down to Sammy talking about her past relationships,
- 16:01Speaker 1: it did help because they've obviously spoken about it before
- 16:05Speaker 1: and she felt comfortable to share the juicy details about
- 16:08Speaker 1: her past relationships. I loved hearing about Jordan Simi. OG
- 16:12Speaker 1: listeners will remember that Jordan made his professional boxing debut
- 16:15Speaker 1: in a bid to win Sammy back. Let's go to
- 16:18Speaker 1: some of what Sammy said about Jordan.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I'm going to hit you with questions. Are you ready?
- 16:24Speaker 4: I'm ready.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Jordan.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Show. No. Okay.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I actually.
- 16:37Speaker 2: He's going to be. I know you're watching this, Jordan.
- 16:39Speaker 2: He'll be frothing, won't he?
- 16:40Speaker 4: And you're going to love.
- 16:41Speaker 2: He'll be frothing. Yeah, I have.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I feel like you always have love for him, but that.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Is not true.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I have love for him. And honestly, like everything
- 16:48Speaker 4: that goes on in all of my relationships, I do
- 16:52Speaker 4: keep private because I don't air dirty laundry. I never
- 16:54Speaker 4: would and I never will. But he's a funny, great,
- 17:01Speaker 4: lovely guy, but we just weren't. We just didn't mesh
- 17:03Speaker 4: in the end. We're both very hot-headed, confident guys.
- 17:08Speaker 1: You could really tell that Lily was biting her tongue
- 17:10Speaker 1: and wanted to say more about Jordan Simi, but Sammy
- 17:13Speaker 1: had prefaced early on that she wasn't there to wade
- 17:17Speaker 1: into the weeds and expose what went down, and she
- 17:20Speaker 1: never wants to talk badly about any of her relationships.
- 17:23Speaker 1: While Sammy was a complete class act on this podcast
- 17:26Speaker 1: regarding her relationships, she did preface that a lot had
- 17:30Speaker 1: already come out publicly. So I suppose her saying that
- 17:34Speaker 1: almost confirms that some of the stuff that came out
- 17:36Speaker 1: was true. Yeah. And this was in reference to the
- 17:39Speaker 1: French toast incident that listeners will remember. So Jordan caused
- 17:43Speaker 1: controversy in late 2022 when he shared a photo of
- 17:47Speaker 1: him getting very cozy in the back of a car
- 17:50Speaker 1: with a stunning French model who he referred to in
- 17:53Speaker 1: that post as French toast. They were on their way
- 17:56Speaker 1: to a Halloween party all dressed up. And at the
- 17:58Speaker 1: time he was still publicly dating Sammy Robinson. And it
- 18:02Speaker 1: made me so sad to hear Sammy admit during this
- 18:05Speaker 1: interview that she never has genuinely felt safe and secure
- 18:09Speaker 1: in a relationship with any of the guys that she's
- 18:11Speaker 1: been with. Even Nick, who she was with for a
- 18:15Speaker 1: very long time, because Nick was a regular fixture on
- 18:18Speaker 1: her YouTube channel.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Here's what she said.
- 18:21Speaker 3: But I also think that you put up with a lot.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I do.
- 18:26Speaker 3: You have as well in the past, especially with two
- 18:30Speaker 3: of your relationships that I'm thinking of, I think that
- 18:33Speaker 3: you've definitely put up with a fucking lot of shit.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Both publicly and not.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 18:41Speaker 4: And a lot of it has come out publicly as well.
- 18:44Speaker 4: So it's not even, again, not airing any dirty laundry
- 18:48Speaker 4: and not talking on specifics. But I think that I
- 18:50Speaker 4: probably haven't felt– if I'm going to put it down
- 18:54Speaker 4: to like a feeling.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:56Speaker 4: And this is what I, you know, when you just
- 18:57Speaker 4: get stuck in TikTok and you're constantly scrolling through, like
- 19:00Speaker 4: what does real love mean?
- 19:01Speaker 2: And it's so true.
- 19:03Speaker 4: It's that I don't think I've ever felt like genuinely
- 19:06Speaker 4: safe with someone. Again, not going into specifics. It's like
- 19:10Speaker 4: I wouldn't have been able to wholeheartedly marry any of
- 19:15Speaker 4: them based on like the way that things were going.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I was surprised to hear her say this because originally
- 19:22Speaker 1: she said that she had nothing but lovely things to
- 19:24Speaker 1: say about Nick. However, it does appear like this was
- 19:27Speaker 1: about him and also Jordan. She did speak very highly
- 19:31Speaker 1: about her most recent boyfriend. It sounds like they just
- 19:34Speaker 1: broke up because he was a bit too young for her.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It's unclear when this interview was recorded because Sammy mentioned
- 19:41Speaker 1: during it that she was single. And just last week,
- 19:44Speaker 1: she did soft launch a new man on TikTok. So
- 19:47Speaker 1: either things have changed quickly or this was pre-recorded from
- 19:51Speaker 1: a while ago. Yeah, well, she did admit that it
- 19:53Speaker 1: often only takes her one date to fall for a
- 19:55Speaker 1: guy and dive into a relationship.
- 19:57Speaker 2: So who knows? This is clearly moving quite quickly.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet The Bachelor producers are absolutely kicking themselves
- 20:04Speaker 1: because during this interview, she did say that if the
- 20:07Speaker 1: show hadn't been cancelled, she would be open to being
- 20:10Speaker 1: the Bachelorette if approached. And I feel like this is
- 20:12Speaker 1: what they needed to keep The Bachelor alive.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Oh, that would have been so good.
- 20:16Speaker 1: The talent scouting on The Bachelor is the reason, well,
- 20:19Speaker 1: part of the reason for.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Its demise, I feel.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Now, on the topic of Sammy's new man, rumours are
- 20:24Speaker 1: circulating that it could be American influencer turned singer Sammy Wilk.
- 20:30Speaker 1: How funny if they're both called Sammy.
- 20:32Speaker 2: That would be very confusing. He did make it big.
- 20:35Speaker 1: On Vine in 2013 and currently has 1.7 million followers
- 20:39Speaker 1: on Instagram. And Sammy is one of those followers.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I did not know who he was.
- 20:44Speaker 1: So I did a stalk and I was like, oh
- 20:47Speaker 1: my gosh, it must be him because he wears a
- 20:49Speaker 1: lot of friendship bracelets, like the one that was spotted
- 20:51Speaker 1: in the mukbang, the Mexican one. And at the time, Sophie,
- 20:54Speaker 1: you remarked that he had an S and a W
- 20:57Speaker 1: and you thought the S stood for Sammy and the
- 21:00Speaker 1: W stood for William or something. William? However, it could
- 21:03Speaker 1: stand for Sammy Wilk. The only issue is he is
- 21:07Speaker 1: in the US at the moment on a tour. So
- 21:10Speaker 1: Sammy uploaded that TikTok about a week ago.
- 21:13Speaker 2: And I mean, it could have been pre-recorded, but I'm
- 21:15Speaker 2: thinking it's kind of unlikely.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Well, especially because they do have Taco Bell all over America.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So if he's American, it's not really your first impression
- 21:26Speaker 1: of Taco Bell either.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Well, I mean, that might be a bit pedantic.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Sammy was giving her first impression of it. Maybe he
- 21:32Speaker 1: likes it, but I think that it's a little bit far-fetched.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Away from her love life. I was quite surprised to
- 21:39Speaker 1: hear in this interview just how sick Sammy has been
- 21:42Speaker 1: for the last year.
- 21:43Speaker 2: She said it was down to extreme stress.
- 21:45Speaker 1: From one mile and that her hair even began falling out.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Here's what she said.
- 21:51Speaker 4: My adrenal fatigue and my high cortisol last year got
- 21:54Speaker 4: so bad. I had all these blood tests and everything
- 21:57Speaker 4: was shutting down. I'm most likely having autoimmune disease, something
- 22:00Speaker 4: with glandular fever. We're still figuring it all out, but
- 22:03Speaker 4: my kidneys were going down. I had the kidneys of
- 22:05Speaker 4: a 75-year-old.
- 22:08Speaker 1: It just shows how much goes on behind the scenes
- 22:11Speaker 1: of these influencers' lives that we never know anything about
- 22:13Speaker 1: because Her life looks so glamorous on Instagram and TikTok.
- 22:17Speaker 2: And to think that this has all been going on
- 22:19Speaker 2: in the background.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yeah, she did reveal that she was on eight different
- 22:23Speaker 1: types of antibiotics, which caused her to get a leaky gut.
- 22:27Speaker 1: So she is now trialing a gluten-free diet. Well, that
- 22:30Speaker 1: quickly got ruined during this interview because Lily poured her
- 22:33Speaker 1: a beer. And then halfway through the interview, Sammy's like, oh, shit,
- 22:37Speaker 1: this has got gluten in it. Well, Sammy also said
- 22:40Speaker 1: she's been suffering with crippling insomnia and has been prescribed
- 22:44Speaker 1: sleeping medication. So it sounds like she has had a
- 22:46Speaker 1: tough 12 months. Yeah. Well, it's not ideal, but it
- 22:50Speaker 1: is clear that the hard work is paying off for
- 22:52Speaker 1: her brand One Mile because she shared that the brand
- 22:55Speaker 1: has gone global into the US and the UK. And
- 22:58Speaker 1: I found it interesting because she said they're not paying
- 23:00Speaker 1: for any promotion. They are gifting products. But I noticed
- 23:03Speaker 1: last week that she shared that Kendall Jenner was spotted
- 23:06Speaker 1: wearing One Mile. So I thought that was pretty impressive
- 23:09Speaker 1: that she has gifted her that item and she's actually
- 23:12Speaker 1: worn it. It's quite clear that this has grown into
- 23:14Speaker 1: more than just an influencer side business.
- 23:18Speaker 2: One Mile is huge.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Sammy revealed that she is opening her first flagship store
- 23:23Speaker 1: in Bondi and she has signed a five-year long-term lease.
- 23:29Speaker 1: We thought we would test out a new segment on
- 23:31Speaker 1: the show called highs and lows.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Of the week.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It seems to suit a Friday. So I will kick
- 23:36Speaker 1: off with mine. My low of the week has been
- 23:39Speaker 1: the logistics of legally changing my name. So I thought
- 23:44Speaker 1: I was all done with that last year. I went
- 23:46Speaker 1: through the process to update my passport, my bank account,
- 23:49Speaker 1: and my driver's license with my married name. However, now
- 23:52Speaker 1: that I'm applying for maternity leave, I realized that there
- 23:55Speaker 1: were so many places that I haven't changed my name
- 23:57Speaker 1: and I need to do it ASAP. So you would
- 24:00Speaker 1: think it would be really easy to update your name
- 24:03Speaker 1: on myGov. Considering all the services are connected on there,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I thought, okay, I'll just do it on one and
- 24:09Speaker 1: it will translate across to all the others. However, each service,
- 24:13Speaker 1: you need to go through a different method. So I
- 24:16Speaker 1: had to ring up to update my Medicare card separately.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I then have to go down to services SA to
- 24:21Speaker 1: do it in person and And then.
- 24:23Speaker 2: For the ATO, you could simply do it online. It
- 24:25Speaker 2: makes no sense.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 1: It is ironic that it's women having to run around
- 24:30Speaker 1: changing their names. I think that this process perhaps would
- 24:32Speaker 1: have been streamlined if men had to be changing their
- 24:35Speaker 1: last names or chose to change their last names, whatever
- 24:37Speaker 1: the case may be.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Oh, the mental load of it. I was having a
- 24:40Speaker 2: rant to Reese and he's like, I can come.
- 24:41Speaker 1: To services essay with you. Now my high of the
- 24:45Speaker 1: week is baking. I've been joking that I'm baking rather
- 24:49Speaker 1: than nesting. I just feel this urge to always be
- 24:52Speaker 1: making something nice to eat, probably because I'm so hungry.
- 24:55Speaker 1: So over the week I have made a focaccia. I've
- 24:59Speaker 1: also made bread and I've been so proud of it
- 25:01Speaker 1: because you know on TikTok when you see it and
- 25:04Speaker 1: I'm like, it's never going to turn out, but I
- 25:05Speaker 1: have found this absolutely incredible recipe and I'll put it
- 25:09Speaker 1: in the show notes because it makes you look really impressive,
- 25:13Speaker 1: but it's so easy. We keep joking that Kate is
- 25:16Speaker 1: slowly transforming into this trad wife. My low of the
- 25:20Speaker 1: week has to be my skin. This has given me
- 25:24Speaker 1: a moment to have a whinge. And I think a
- 25:25Speaker 1: lot of people can relate that when you feel like
- 25:27Speaker 1: you've got bad skin, you just don't feel as confident.
- 25:30Speaker 2: You don't want to look people in the eyes.
- 25:32Speaker 1: For the past two months, I've been suffering with terrible acne.
- 25:37Speaker 1: It is slowly starting to get a little bit better,
- 25:40Speaker 1: but that is my grizzle for the week.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I think it's getting better.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I mean, it's always annoying when you don't ever want
- 25:46Speaker 1: to jinx it because you're like, oh, my skin's getting better,
- 25:48Speaker 1: but I can't say it. Yeah. I think it has
- 25:50Speaker 1: a lot to do with my stress levels. My stress
- 25:52Speaker 1: levels have been through the roof. And when you reflect
- 25:54Speaker 1: on the year that we've had, I've moved house, I've
- 25:56Speaker 1: got married, we've had hundreds of events on, we've gone
- 25:59Speaker 1: through some awful stuff. So I am blaming my stress
- 26:02Speaker 1: levels and I need to de-stress. And that is my
- 26:04Speaker 1: high for the week because what is helping me de-stress
- 26:07Speaker 1: is my combustion heater. I have moved into a house
- 26:10Speaker 1: in the hills and my partner and my new favorite
- 26:13Speaker 1: activity is putting a fire on every night. And we
- 26:16Speaker 1: have been watching, maybe this is contentious, but we have
- 26:19Speaker 1: been watching Jeremy Clarkson's farm.
- 26:22Speaker 2: What is that show?
- 26:23Speaker 1: Because I heard dad talking about that like two years ago.
- 26:26Speaker 2: It's just relaxing.
- 26:27Speaker 1: It's literally Jeremy Clarkson, who is a controversial journo. He
- 26:32Speaker 1: has bought a farm to get away from everything. And
- 26:35Speaker 1: he doesn't know how to do anything on this farm.
- 26:37Speaker 1: He has this farmer, this 20 year old farmer guy
- 26:41Speaker 1: who basically is showing him the ropes and gets so
- 26:43Speaker 1: frustrated and angry at him is one of those shows
- 26:46Speaker 1: you can unwind to. If you're feeling stressed, I think
- 26:49Speaker 1: it's good to put on one of those mindless shows.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Is it good to watch with a partner?
- 26:52Speaker 1: Because yes, that is the trickiest thing to find a
- 26:55Speaker 1: Netflix show that everyone is going to enjoy.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I would recommend watching with your partner. I'm also watching
- 27:01Speaker 1: something to bond with my dad about because my dad
- 27:03Speaker 1: loves Jeremy Clarkson. Well, I think that's where we'll leave
- 27:07Speaker 1: things today. If you do want to hear more content
- 27:10Speaker 1: from us, we did drop a subscriber episode yesterday where
- 27:13Speaker 1: we touched on a bunch of influencer topics, including Mitch
- 27:16Speaker 1: Orville saying that he was proud to be an anti-vaxxer,
- 27:20Speaker 1: Jade Tunchi's brutally honest relationship story, and Olivia Rogers becoming
- 27:24Speaker 1: a repeat wedding guest dress offender. This podcast was recorded
- 27:29Speaker 1: on the traditional land of the Kaurna people of the
- 27:31Speaker 1: Adelaide Plains.
- 27:32Speaker 2: We pay respect to elders past and present.
