- 0:10Speaker 1: What's up? Hello everybody? How are you?
- 0:15Speaker 2: I am attempting to make a cocktail instead of drinking wine.
- 0:20Speaker 2: And let's just say, I just got a gobby nectar
- 0:23Speaker 2: all over me and now I'm sticky. I need someone
- 0:25Speaker 2: to lick it off.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Usually people have to pay extra for that, and.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I've got to shake it. So maybe I shouldn't beet myself.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Or do we want to hear the shake?
- 0:37Speaker 1: Oh? No, let's hear the shake. This is asm R
- 0:39Speaker 1: all the way.
- 0:43Speaker 2: How long do I shake it? Normally? Double h does this?
- 0:45Speaker 1: I don't know. I probably shouldn't follow you while you're
- 0:47Speaker 1: doing it.
- 0:48Speaker 2: No, I'm like going, Do I do it like this?
- 0:54Speaker 1: However you want to do it? However you want to
- 0:57Speaker 1: do it?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Is my favorite week of the year.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Well, I can't believe. I can't believe that we're week
- 1:06Speaker 1: to week now. But I'm excited about it. I'm happy
- 1:09Speaker 1: about it.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I am too.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It's going well, that's far.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I mean, I love the fact that you get to
- 1:14Speaker 2: publicly see me every week. Ah right, I didn't do
- 1:20Speaker 2: so good?
- 1:21Speaker 1: Oh no, what pouring?
- 1:26Speaker 2: That's a small cocktail?
- 1:30Speaker 1: Oh is it?
- 1:32Speaker 2: And I have my cute heart? It's like half a class.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You've got a kiddie pool cocktail. That's what that is.
- 1:38Speaker 1: That's a kiddie pool cocktail.
- 1:41Speaker 2: That's like four hounds of alcohol. Okay, forgotten ingred for
- 1:49Speaker 2: this case. Tonight, text Double H and ask him to
- 1:56Speaker 2: bring me some wine or something that That means maybe
- 2:00Speaker 2: it's too strong. You know what I forgot. I only
- 2:06Speaker 2: did two ounces of pink grapefruit juice instead of four,
- 2:10Speaker 2: so that means it's just extra strong.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Oh okay, well that's fine. Extra strong is good.
- 2:17Speaker 2: That and then I've got little hearts, little hearts because
- 2:24Speaker 2: it's found. I don't know. I haven't tasted it yet.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, get in.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Oh oh boy, I'm glad anything else to it, but
- 2:40Speaker 2: for now, I don't know.
- 2:41Speaker 1: If we're gonna have a fun. We're gonna have a
- 2:43Speaker 1: fun end of show.
- 2:46Speaker 2: No, Double H might get lucky tonight.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Oh geez, oh man, he's in in like fleas.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I have to ask. It's my favorite week of the year.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Please don't disappoint me. Do you have any wonderful plans
- 3:05Speaker 2: with missus brute crime.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Well you're gonna be disappointed. Uh no, not entirely. We're
- 3:12Speaker 1: kind of getting busy, getting getting busy.
- 3:18Speaker 2: A little baby bruecrime girl.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Absolutely not. So we're cleaning and organizing and packing and
- 3:27Speaker 1: but it's not exactly out of the ordinary because our
- 3:30Speaker 1: tenth anniversary came and went and we wouldn't have thought
- 3:32Speaker 1: about it if my mom didn't text us. But we're
- 3:35Speaker 1: making up for it. We're we're going away without the children,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and what a case to go away on. And you'll
- 3:42Speaker 1: figure wow, why in a second. But uh, I know,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I know you're having a big shindig planned or something big?
- 3:50Speaker 1: What is? What is your plan? And doubleh success we navigated.
- 3:54Speaker 2: It's our fifth annual Valentine shindig here since we moved
- 4:00Speaker 2: to this area. This year, we've added two extra couples
- 4:04Speaker 2: and we're doing a progressive Valentine's Day, So instead of
- 4:07Speaker 2: it all being at my house, like my girlfriend Catherine
- 4:10Speaker 2: texted meine, she goes, does it look like Cupid through
- 4:13Speaker 2: up in your house? And I'm like no, because we're
- 4:16Speaker 2: only doing cocktail hour. Our neighbors and our friends across
- 4:20Speaker 2: the street are doing appetizers, and then our other friends
- 4:24Speaker 2: down the street they're doing dinner, dessert and games. And
- 4:28Speaker 2: the other couple who lives in Austin is bringing the dessert,
- 4:34Speaker 2: but we are providing the cocktails. Can I tell you
- 4:37Speaker 2: what the cocktails are?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yes?
- 4:42Speaker 2: Okay. If anyone is offended by foul language, close your ears.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So that's true cocktail hour at our house. We are
- 4:55Speaker 2: having pussy Passion Martini's. I couldn't find the dry ice
- 5:01Speaker 2: and I'm not driving thirty minutes to get dry ice.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Then what I'm drinking right now is the Dove Love Paloma,
- 5:10Speaker 2: so I want to try it. Whoops, and I just
- 5:12Speaker 2: dropped my earpiece, but that's okay. I don't need to
- 5:14Speaker 2: hear them. We're has being raspberry pop Rock Margarita's. Whoa wow,
- 5:24Speaker 2: I can hear again.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay, cool. So the rim so.
- 5:32Speaker 2: When you go to drink it, you'll get the pop
- 5:34Speaker 2: rocks and they'll pop in your mouth.
- 5:35Speaker 1: The old m job, the old rim job.
- 5:39Speaker 2: And of course I made cherry jello shots. Yeah, we're
- 5:44Speaker 2: not going to the rim job. Yep, because remember Amanda
- 5:51Speaker 2: or no Amber, Mike's wife from Brew Crime. I am
- 5:55Speaker 2: Sparkle Puss and you are Sparkle Rim or glitter Room.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I don't remember the second part, but but I'm gonna
- 6:03Speaker 1: take your word for it.
- 6:06Speaker 2: So but anyway, it's lovely. I just have to say
- 6:11Speaker 2: one thing. Please tell me you at least got missus
- 6:15Speaker 2: brue Crime a card for Valentine's.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Day, my love, Yes, absolutely got her, my love.
- 6:24Speaker 2: No, you've got her a card?
- 6:27Speaker 1: Sure?
- 6:30Speaker 2: Some chocolate?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Some chocolate? No, not do a lot of the chocolate
- 6:36Speaker 1: thing stuff? And what about the little why flowers? Because
- 6:39Speaker 1: we'll just be getting out of we'll be leaving for
- 6:42Speaker 1: a while.
- 6:43Speaker 2: So what about the littles.
- 6:46Speaker 1: The littles they're putting together. They're Valentine's right now. Their
- 6:51Speaker 1: entire life is Valentine's Day.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Okay, we're gonna have to work on this. So next year, okay,
- 6:58Speaker 2: I will get with you and I I will send
- 7:00Speaker 2: you stuff the week before for you to give the littles.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Because like when my kids were growing up, I made
- 7:07Speaker 2: heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, and I made them little baskets,
- 7:11Speaker 2: and I bought necessities like I would buy a red
- 7:14Speaker 2: T shirt. I would buy them red underwear, little white
- 7:17Speaker 2: socks with red trim on them, because that.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Miss Bruce Crime is good with that, you know.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Okay, So she okay, I should have just thought of that.
- 7:27Speaker 1: She's got it.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Taken care of.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Probably probably, but listen, I did. I didn't come prepped
- 7:37Speaker 1: to talk about doing those things, but I did before
- 7:39Speaker 1: we get started. Could I just tell you a few
- 7:42Speaker 1: things I learned about Valentine's Day that maybe some people
- 7:45Speaker 1: don't know.
- 7:47Speaker 2: As long as it's happened, Valentine's Day stuff, And it's
- 7:51Speaker 2: not going to ruin V Day for me because it's
- 7:54Speaker 2: not VB Day much. It's V Day.
- 7:57Speaker 1: No. No, no, no, not that day. Okay, no, all right.
- 7:59Speaker 1: So Valentine's Day also has pagan roots alongside its connection
- 8:02Speaker 1: to Saint Valentine. It may have originated and Lupicalia, a
- 8:07Speaker 1: festival of fertility celebrated on February fifteenth in ancient Rome
- 8:11Speaker 1: now Lupercalia was dedicated to the Roman god of agriculture, Fawnas,
- 8:16Speaker 1: and the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus. It was
- 8:19Speaker 1: celebrated with animal sacrifices and gently slapping women in crop
- 8:24Speaker 1: fields with goat hides dipped in blood, which was thought
- 8:27Speaker 1: to help fertility.
- 8:29Speaker 2: What do you think the fact that animals were involved
- 8:33Speaker 2: and you just took goat hides and did something with
- 8:36Speaker 2: Jasper's hides?
- 8:38Speaker 1: Did you not think about it? Not Jasper. This was
- 8:40Speaker 1: a while ago. This was I don't think Jasper's life
- 8:43Speaker 1: span spans back that that may far. But the second
- 8:51Speaker 1: thing and the last thing I have is the first
- 8:53Speaker 1: mass produced Valentines didn't arrive on scene until the eighteen forties.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Known as the Mother of the American Valentine, esther A.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Howland sold cards with lace and ribbons that commercialized Valentine's
- 9:07Speaker 1: in America. So it's Holland's fault, not Hallmark, but Howland.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So if you want to find somebody, you go ahead
- 9:14Speaker 1: and ancestor ask jeeves that and figure out where they're at.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Now, did you know to take that a little bit further?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Now?
- 9:23Speaker 2: My grandmother told me this, So I'm going to just
- 9:25Speaker 2: say I don't know if it's a fact, but my
- 9:27Speaker 2: mama said it. So it's back to me that for
- 9:31Speaker 2: families that didn't have money to go buy that lace
- 9:35Speaker 2: and stuff because it was expensive. At the little general store,
- 9:38Speaker 2: you could cut the lace yea off of your underwear
- 9:43Speaker 2: and then you could use corn starch. Then you could
- 9:45Speaker 2: use cornstarch if you didn't have glue, and put it
- 9:48Speaker 2: on the card or the paper to put it on
- 9:50Speaker 2: there and decorate.
- 9:51Speaker 1: It do you wash it first?
- 9:55Speaker 2: But absolutely no.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I would think, well, listen, now that I have completely
- 10:03Speaker 1: sidetracked us, which I do fantastically, and I know you
- 10:06Speaker 1: totally love me for it. What's talking a little bit
- 10:11Speaker 1: about what's coming up? Maybe, so welcome everybody, you know,
- 10:15Speaker 1: if we didn't say that already. I'm JT and I'm
- 10:18Speaker 1: here with my co host whim pointing the wrong way
- 10:21Speaker 1: that way.
- 10:23Speaker 2: And I am Tarry True Crime, and I'm going to
- 10:26Speaker 2: just warn you I like this drink a whole lot.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I would say this would be a great shot. Uh oh,
- 10:36Speaker 2: Lady in Gray says, I have to say, I really
- 10:39Speaker 2: like JT's shirt. I mean to the point I want one.
- 10:44Speaker 1: This is a shirt that I was that I was
- 10:47Speaker 1: given for an eighties themed night that is going to
- 10:51Speaker 1: be happening where I'm going. And I still don't want
- 10:54Speaker 1: to ruin the whole joke that's about to come up.
- 10:57Speaker 1: So but yes, this would be eighties and this is
- 11:00Speaker 1: like DZ the Discovery Zone and Saved by the Bell
- 11:03Speaker 1: just vomited all over my shirt.
- 11:06Speaker 2: So it reminds me of Fresh Prince of bel Air.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I forget what his name was. Fresh Prince of bel
- 11:14Speaker 2: Air what was his name? Okay, well, I want to
- 11:18Speaker 2: remind everybody before we get off track to like subscribe
- 11:22Speaker 2: and hit the notification bell. And if you're listening to
- 11:26Speaker 2: this as a podcast, I'm going to say, come on
- 11:28Speaker 2: over to True Crime and Wine Time on YouTube, because
- 11:32Speaker 2: then you can still listen in your car shamelessly, and
- 11:37Speaker 2: you can hear all of the antics two weeks before
- 11:41Speaker 2: it releases on the podcast, because there's a two week
- 11:44Speaker 2: delay on the podcast. And if you like and subscribe,
- 11:48Speaker 2: I'm going to say, if you're listening on the podcast,
- 11:51Speaker 2: come on over to YouTube and watch us, because, let
- 11:54Speaker 2: me tell you, JT and I we'd be looking funny
- 12:00Speaker 2: and we make some faces that when I'm watching the
- 12:02Speaker 2: videos back and it freezes for a second, I'm like,
- 12:06Speaker 2: why is my mouth open? Like I'm putting a banana
- 12:10Speaker 2: in it? My mouth will be like a and I'm like,
- 12:14Speaker 2: why do I do that? Like in every episode.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It's because of It's because of the cocktail. That's all. Listen.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I I'd like to encourage everybody.
- 12:26Speaker 2: What it's a cock tail?
- 12:28Speaker 1: Yeah, right tail? Jeez, all right, listen. I want to
- 12:32Speaker 1: encourage everybody that to become a member, hit the Join button.
- 12:36Speaker 1: We are going to be doing a special live show
- 12:39Speaker 1: for members March twenty first at nine pm. So members
- 12:43Speaker 1: are in for a treat and it no, it's it's
- 12:47Speaker 1: not me. They wouldn't let me this time.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Well, what's this is your treat? That's the treat. You know.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I've already had two glasses of wine, so I need
- 13:06Speaker 2: to be really careful. But if we lived closer, I
- 13:09Speaker 2: could say I would bring the chocolate for the treat.
- 13:12Speaker 2: But if not, that's okay. But the good news is
- 13:17Speaker 2: the exciting news. We are doing a live show in
- 13:23Speaker 2: the Austin, Texas area Dripping Springs, Texas on May third,
- 13:28Speaker 2: but channel members, you're gonna get to see the live stream. Now,
- 13:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna ask the channel members to please be kind
- 13:35Speaker 2: to us because we're figuring out the live stream and
- 13:40Speaker 2: it's gonna be on the phone. But we hear it's
- 13:42Speaker 2: gonna be fun. And I say we hear because I
- 13:47Speaker 2: have this little voice in my head saying JT's gonna
- 13:49Speaker 2: make us fabulous.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Right totally.
- 13:56Speaker 2: And then I am gonna have a special guest interview
- 14:01Speaker 2: with Brian Joseph, who's the author of Vegas Concierge on Thursday,
- 14:07Speaker 2: February twentieth, and his website is www. Vegasconcier book dot com.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Because I will be hosting that night solo and JT
- 14:22Speaker 2: will explain more later as to why.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Yeah, so what youre drinking? Yeah? I decided, considering our
- 14:35Speaker 1: case to go with something from a winery called SeaGlass
- 14:40Speaker 1: Wine Company. And this wine was vented and bottled in Napa.
- 14:44Speaker 1: And load is it loady or load ee?
- 14:46Speaker 2: It's loadie California. I loveladye California. It's it's called Central Coast.
- 14:54Speaker 2: It's a pino. It's it is.
- 14:57Speaker 1: It's about as Christmas it gets in terms of a wi,
- 15:00Speaker 1: a white and a pino. It says. The flavors are ripe, pear,
- 15:04Speaker 1: apple and hints of tangerine. But we'll go with that.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I have to stop you real quick. I want you
- 15:15Speaker 2: to just look at the comment. So elbow Feet says
- 15:22Speaker 2: a couple more in Terry will be making Valentine's Grandma style.
- 15:27Speaker 2: So is he saying I look like a grandma?
- 15:32Speaker 1: I don't know. You're gonna have to ask him a
- 15:33Speaker 1: little later on.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Oh maybe I'll ask him to night later.
- 15:38Speaker 1: There you go, So listen, there's there's something about choosing
- 15:42Speaker 1: a case that occurs during a honeymoon celebration on a
- 15:44Speaker 1: cruise ship, when one is about to embark on a
- 15:47Speaker 1: cruise to celebrate ten years. I don't know whether that
- 15:54Speaker 1: makes me anything other than odd. It's fine, I'm sure.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Honeymoons are the time when couples escape the chaos of
- 16:04Speaker 1: wedding planning to bask in the glow of marital bliss, beaches, sunsets, champagne,
- 16:11Speaker 1: romance distilled into its purest form. If you're me, Disney
- 16:14Speaker 1: World and Universal, I mean, I guess the problem is
- 16:19Speaker 1: that it just was not so for Karen Waltz and
- 16:22Speaker 1: Scott Rosten. Their honeymoon wasn't so much the Notebook as
- 16:27Speaker 1: it was Ghost Chip. But there's more to this than
- 16:32Speaker 1: just the case that interests me. The sheer inability of
- 16:37Speaker 1: Scott Rosten to take ownership of what he did, and
- 16:40Speaker 1: the audacity of him to come up with the excuses
- 16:43Speaker 1: and alibis he did. Just wait for it, good grief.
- 16:47Speaker 1: And you're gonna see what I mean in just a
- 16:49Speaker 1: little bit here, And I want you to tell me
- 16:51Speaker 1: what you're drinking.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Well, first to note, is this your first cruise.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yes, Oh really, Oh for sure.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Oh my god, that is so exciting. So, like I said,
- 17:09Speaker 2: I decided, oh, it'll be great. So I decided to
- 17:13Speaker 2: skip wine Week and instead decided to try out one
- 17:16Speaker 2: of the cocktails I'm serving for our Valentine's Day couple thing.
- 17:21Speaker 2: So it's a Dove Love Paloma. It's supposed to be
- 17:26Speaker 2: two ounces of jalapeno tequila. I did four fresh lime juice,
- 17:33Speaker 2: and then it's supposed to be four ounces of grapefruit juice.
- 17:35Speaker 2: I only did two of the grapefruit juice and then
- 17:39Speaker 2: a govy nectar. So I decided this on your hands.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I know it did, but it's pink. But it's also
- 17:48Speaker 2: a tabbit spicy. I Valentine's Day shouldn't be all sweet.
- 17:53Speaker 2: There should be something spicy too, and it can't always be.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Me that Okay, I'll do it this time.
- 18:02Speaker 2: So now I have to tell you I hate everything
- 18:07Speaker 2: about this case. I'm gonna just be honest. Like I said,
- 18:11Speaker 2: I'm one of those crazy people. I love everything about
- 18:14Speaker 2: Valentine's Day. It's truly my favorite holiday. I know, Sammy
- 18:18Speaker 2: Sunshine's not here tonight, but I'm sorry Valentine's Day surpasses
- 18:24Speaker 2: her Christmas, and if she watches this song replay, I'm
- 18:29Speaker 2: sure sure I'm gonna hear it. Those are be fighting words.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I mean, even DOUBLEH proposed to me on Valentine's Day
- 18:38Speaker 2: because he knew how much I loved it. And I
- 18:40Speaker 2: told all my friends he wouldn't propose on Valentine's Day
- 18:43Speaker 2: because it's too cliche, and he did because he didn't
- 18:49Speaker 2: think so. But I want you guys to realize, I
- 18:53Speaker 2: don't see Valentine's Day is just a day of love
- 18:56Speaker 2: between couples. I believe it's the love you have for
- 19:00Speaker 2: your families, your friends, your community, your fur babies, and
- 19:05Speaker 2: of course that person that you want to knock boots with.
- 19:09Speaker 2: But I mean, I even get my animal's Valentine's state presence.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I even got my monster in law I mean mother
- 19:16Speaker 2: in law's cats Valentine's state presence.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Oops.
- 19:26Speaker 2: But I also love cruises, and the fact that this
- 19:29Speaker 2: case takes two things I love and turns them totally dark,
- 19:36Speaker 2: horrific just really makes me dislikes Scott Roasting even more
- 19:43Speaker 2: than I normally dislike douchebags. And I haven't even said
- 19:47Speaker 2: that it's also their honeymoon, because your honeymoon is supposed
- 19:50Speaker 2: to be a time that you probably are the most
- 19:53Speaker 2: in love. It's a time to celebrate your love, your honeymoon.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I mean, you're not. Oh my god, I just got
- 20:02Speaker 2: interrupted because I just saw elbow Feet say he's not
- 20:06Speaker 2: putting on lingerie for his pets. I just want to say,
- 20:10Speaker 2: if you do, if you do, I want photos. That's
- 20:17Speaker 2: all I'm gonna say. I want photos. I want photos.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Anyway, I heard in the distance challenge accepted. That's what
- 20:25Speaker 1: I heard.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Oh, I can't wait. But like I said, your honeymoon
- 20:30Speaker 2: is before the kids, before the bills, before the drama,
- 20:34Speaker 2: and it's a time to take a break after all
- 20:36Speaker 2: the planning and stuff. But apparently Scott Raston forgot to
- 20:41Speaker 2: look up the meaning of a honeymoon. He also forgot
- 20:44Speaker 2: to look up how not to be a douchebag. So
- 20:48Speaker 2: I hate everything about this case.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so we present to you tonight the murder of
- 20:55Speaker 1: Karen Waltz by Scott Rosten or blown Away, the Hot
- 20:59Speaker 1: air defense of Scott Rostin.
- 21:03Speaker 2: He's the hot air Let's just be honest. He's the
- 21:06Speaker 2: hot air. Well I want to tell you about Karen
- 21:10Speaker 2: guys to get started, Karen waltz ooop, excuse me, mo.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Besides the fact, I know, we don't like to talk
- 21:17Speaker 2: about the way people look, she was stunning, so I mean,
- 21:21Speaker 2: she was beautiful. But when she was younger, she dreamed
- 21:25Speaker 2: of being a ballet dancer. And my first thing about
- 21:29Speaker 2: that is that's a lot of work. I don't know
- 21:33Speaker 2: if people realize being a ballet dancer is a lot
- 21:36Speaker 2: of work. But she was successful when she was younger
- 21:40Speaker 2: in ballet. She could have probably taken it farther, but
- 21:45Speaker 2: she grew up with her sister in Florida. They were
- 21:49Speaker 2: raised by a single mom. We're talking a single mom
- 21:53Speaker 2: who did everything she could to make sure her girls
- 21:57Speaker 2: had some of those extras. But because they didn't have
- 22:01Speaker 2: a lot of money, but they had a lot lots
- 22:04Speaker 2: of love, and that's what matters.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I love that so much. But as a kid, I'd
- 22:14Speaker 1: be looking at mom saying, you know, I can't eat love, Mom,
- 22:18Speaker 1: you just don't understand gosh. And then I'd go back
- 22:22Speaker 1: to my room and type in my angel fire diary.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Okay, but see, you were special. You had whatever that
- 22:30Speaker 2: angel fire diary was, which I've never heard of.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I don't know either.
- 22:37Speaker 2: We will save that for another day. But as we'll
- 22:42Speaker 2: see when we learned about Scott, there's not a lot
- 22:45Speaker 2: of information about Karen's early life because let me just
- 22:49Speaker 2: tell you, guys, she never grew up wanting to be
- 22:53Speaker 2: featured on a podcast. That was never her plan. So
- 22:58Speaker 2: why did she need to put everything out there right now?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Karen and her sister, you know, their dad left when
- 23:05Speaker 2: they were young. But her sister said Karen felt abandoned
- 23:09Speaker 2: by her father when he left, which I'm going to say,
- 23:13Speaker 2: I know a lot of people who are that way.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Some people call it daddy syndrome. But when you don't
- 23:20Speaker 2: have that male figure in your life, you crave it,
- 23:24Speaker 2: you know, you crave that love. Now, Karen found love.
- 23:29Speaker 2: So she dated a young guy named Troy for years
- 23:33Speaker 2: and we're talking like four years, and why are you
- 23:38Speaker 2: laughing at me?
- 23:40Speaker 1: I just want to see if anybody wants to guess
- 23:42Speaker 1: what he was like. I mean, like, I'm sure he
- 23:45Speaker 1: was a totally fine guy, but anybody with the name
- 23:47Speaker 1: of Troy reminds me of this high school classmate I
- 23:50Speaker 1: once had who he sounded like this, Hey I'm Troy, that's.
- 24:02Speaker 2: And so he didn't. He was a lovely guy that
- 24:05Speaker 2: did like woodworking and construction. And I'm gonna tell you
- 24:10Speaker 2: I watched a reenactment video of this story. Reenactment Troy
- 24:14Speaker 2: was pretty sexy. So I don't know if you look
- 24:17Speaker 2: like real Troy, but reenactment Troy was pretty hot.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Sure. I mean they always ask for the normal guys,
- 24:26Speaker 1: and then they go for you know, Joey, for my
- 24:31Speaker 1: think not.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Oh, Joey just had a birthday.
- 24:37Speaker 1: He did, Happy Birthday, Joey.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Happy Birthday Joey. But Karen went to massage school, and
- 24:44Speaker 2: her sister said she fell in love with being a massuse.
- 24:49Speaker 2: She loved everything about it because she liked the healthy
- 24:53Speaker 2: aspect of it, helping people relax in all of that. Now,
- 24:59Speaker 2: she got a job at one of those high end resorts,
- 25:02Speaker 2: and her sister said she thrived in her position where
- 25:06Speaker 2: she had customers who came back and asked for her.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Which that's a big deal, because I will tell you
- 25:14Speaker 2: I like to get massages. There's only been two places
- 25:17Speaker 2: I've gone that I liked my therapist enough that if
- 25:20Speaker 2: I go back there, I ask for their name. So
- 25:25Speaker 2: that says a lot. Now, look at how cute she was,
- 25:29Speaker 2: but she was so bubbly, outgoing. They also said she
- 25:33Speaker 2: was very kind and because they grew up in Florida,
- 25:36Speaker 2: they spent a lot of time at the beach, which
- 25:42Speaker 2: I'm saying Florida is a shit show right now. But
- 25:45Speaker 2: growing up in Florida on the beach is not a
- 25:48Speaker 2: bad thing. And she was a great swimmer. She loved
- 25:52Speaker 2: the ocean. Now, one problem she had, or I see
- 25:57Speaker 2: it as a problem. She liked to run ten miles
- 26:00Speaker 2: a day and nobody was chasing her with a something
- 26:10Speaker 2: was wrong because people don't come at me. I just
- 26:14Speaker 2: don't understand why people run. If nobody's chasing you, just
- 26:18Speaker 2: jump in a pool and swim laps. It is so
- 26:21Speaker 2: much better for your knees. You don't sweat as much.
- 26:27Speaker 1: No, no, so just say it.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Well, now we're going to talk about douchebag. Oh I'm sorry,
- 26:34Speaker 2: Scott Raston. That's my new nickname for him, in case
- 26:38Speaker 2: anyone was wondering. So he was. He was born and
- 26:44Speaker 2: raised in the Bronx and there's not a lot online
- 26:51Speaker 2: about him when he was younger. Now, he did get
- 26:55Speaker 2: a degree to be a chiropractor from a school in Georgia,
- 27:00Speaker 2: and his dad. Okay, first of all, let's look at
- 27:02Speaker 2: that hair. That hair is a red flag. Just gonna
- 27:07Speaker 2: say it's a red flag. But this isn't so much
- 27:12Speaker 2: when he was younger. But we're gonna find out as
- 27:15Speaker 2: we get into this case. He still lived at home
- 27:19Speaker 2: with his parents.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Uh.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Oh, what a murderer named Scott that almost never happens
- 27:29Speaker 2: is on fire tonight.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Hot takes, Hot takes, Oh.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Ladies and Grace that is his seventies porn stash still
- 27:42Speaker 2: with his parents.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll get there.
- 27:49Speaker 2: But like I said, he did go to college to
- 27:51Speaker 2: become a chiropractor.
- 27:54Speaker 1: He got a degree. How can you get a degree
- 27:57Speaker 1: and finish it up with a license? It's like it's
- 28:02Speaker 1: it's it's like running a marathon, getting to the corner
- 28:05Speaker 1: just before the finish line and then deciding, nah, I'll
- 28:09Speaker 1: just live here now we're good.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Well, it's kind of like you go to law school
- 28:14Speaker 2: and you get your degree, but you still have to
- 28:16Speaker 2: pass the bar. So chiropractor is kind of the same thing.
- 28:20Speaker 2: You can get your degree, but you have to actually
- 28:23Speaker 2: pass a state exam. So each state has their own
- 28:26Speaker 2: exam and you have to pass the test.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Ah.
- 28:31Speaker 2: So, but I am going to say the thing about Scott.
- 28:35Speaker 2: I mean, he was a guy that they said had ambition,
- 28:42Speaker 2: But I'm gonna just say he did not have any boundaries. Okay,
- 28:47Speaker 2: And I'm going to just say he was an unlicensed chiropractor.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Nowhere can I find whether or not he ever took
- 28:55Speaker 2: the test. Elbow feet is killing me. He couldn't quite
- 29:02Speaker 2: crack it, Okay. The only thing that would make me
- 29:04Speaker 2: jump it didn't if it said he couldn't quite quack it.
- 29:11Speaker 1: But he's a crack chiropractors. Oh okay, listen, I listen.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I don't know why I'm even here. Elbow if HET's
- 29:20Speaker 1: got all my jokes for tonight, just.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I know I'm loving it. But they do. Friends and
- 29:27Speaker 2: acquaintances of Scott's described him as charming, an intense, and
- 29:32Speaker 2: a man who could talk his way into anything but
- 29:37Speaker 2: left chaos in his way like most men.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Like a like a like a tornado with a law degree.
- 29:44Speaker 1: He'd be the guy who'd kind of charm his way
- 29:46Speaker 1: past security and you think, Wow, this guy belongs here
- 29:50Speaker 1: and he has an under control, and then bam, the
- 29:52Speaker 1: next thing you know, Uh, the copier is on fire.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Someone's crying in a corner and the office goldfish is
- 29:57Speaker 1: floating upside down in a cup of coffee. Not from
- 30:01Speaker 1: real experience.
- 30:04Speaker 2: He that you saying that reminds me of And I
- 30:08Speaker 2: just totally forgot the serial killer's name. That was an attorney,
- 30:14Speaker 2: the good looking one. He killed people in Florida. He
- 30:20Speaker 2: escaped out of the Oh my god, I got a
- 30:23Speaker 2: sign Bundy, Thank you.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Bundy went to Heney passed the bar.
- 30:33Speaker 2: But did he are.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think So passed the bar. No,
- 30:40Speaker 1: he never took the bar, but he defended himself.
- 30:44Speaker 2: But it's like this guy. He had a degree, but
- 30:48Speaker 2: he didn't pass the bar. But we're gonna move on
- 30:52Speaker 2: to Scott.
- 30:53Speaker 1: So.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Scott was also a published author. Sure someone else we
- 31:00Speaker 2: know the storm, but he published a book titled Nightmare
- 31:05Speaker 2: in Israel and it is a book that has three
- 31:08Speaker 2: reviews on the Amazon. Guys, only one copy was sold
- 31:18Speaker 2: before his case, And I think his mama bought it. Okay,
- 31:23Speaker 2: I'm going to just say his mama bought it. But
- 31:26Speaker 2: the book accused in Israeli mental hospital of mistreatment, a
- 31:33Speaker 2: claim that would resurface in bizarre fashion during his trial.
- 31:37Speaker 2: But whether Scott genuinely believed in his tales, or he
- 31:42Speaker 2: was a I mean, he was just a simply skilled
- 31:46Speaker 2: fabricator psychopath. But I'm going to just say one thing
- 31:49Speaker 2: is for certain. His life was beyond complicated. I mean,
- 31:54Speaker 2: it is worse than trying to make lasagna from scratch.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Why your mom gives you helpful advice over FaceTime and
- 32:02Speaker 2: she doesn't even know how to use FaceTime and turn
- 32:04Speaker 2: the camera on.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I have no idea what you're talking about. I remember
- 32:09Speaker 1: back when I was in Israel, there was a sign
- 32:11Speaker 1: up sheet that said relive the Nightmare in Israel. Book
- 32:15Speaker 1: sign up here, very big in Israel. Then again, the
- 32:20Speaker 1: sign might have said please don't feed the stray cats.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Context is everything. I don't know.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I didn't realize you had been to Israel.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Sure haven't, but it sounded good.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Now we are going to talk about how Karen and
- 32:40Speaker 2: Scott met. So while Karen was working at the resort
- 32:45Speaker 2: as a messuse, Karen had a client who came in.
- 32:50Speaker 2: He was going in twice a week because he had
- 32:53Speaker 2: fallen and got some kind of workers camp lawsuit. He
- 32:57Speaker 2: got some money for it, and he was going to
- 33:00Speaker 2: a massuse to get worked out. My first thought is,
- 33:03Speaker 2: why are you going to high end resort for that?
- 33:06Speaker 2: And why aren't you going to the local massage envy
- 33:09Speaker 2: where you could probably get four massages for the same price.
- 33:13Speaker 2: But I digress. But that's how she got to know him.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Can can you? Can you imagine his pickup lines at
- 33:22Speaker 1: like a bar? Like what a mic should drop on
- 33:27Speaker 1: that one. I'd love to adjust our relationship status to
- 33:31Speaker 1: it's getting serious, or I adjust spines by day, but
- 33:36Speaker 1: I'd love to adjust my schedule to make time for you.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Or your posture looks great, but I'd still like to
- 33:44Speaker 1: get my hands on you for purely professional reasons. Of course,
- 33:49Speaker 1: by the way, I don't have these. I've never used
- 33:52Speaker 1: pickup lines, and I don't even know if I could
- 33:53Speaker 1: do it outside of it being a joke. But here
- 33:55Speaker 1: we are. It called for it, maybe it didn't call
- 33:58Speaker 1: for it, but I still give it to you.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Any Yeah, Well, like I said, Scott had a recent
- 34:04Speaker 2: fall and that's why he was getting that massage twice
- 34:07Speaker 2: a week. I'm sure he was hoping for some happy
- 34:11Speaker 2: stuff at the end, but.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I told you he fell for her.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Now, guys, what's sad she was still seeing Troy when
- 34:25Speaker 2: she fell for Scott. I mean, but she everybody said
- 34:30Speaker 2: they had so much in common, they love the outdoors.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I mean basically, I think he lied and told her
- 34:38Speaker 2: anything she wanted to hear. Uh oh, what is elbowfeet saying?
- 34:42Speaker 1: Now?
- 34:42Speaker 2: But no, happy indeed.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Happy envy and they don't appreciate you asking never supporting
- 34:48Speaker 1: my dad's new career again. I hope I delivered that appropriately.
- 34:55Speaker 2: It felt like, oh my god, but guys, what is
- 34:59Speaker 2: so sad? Karen broke up with Troy after falling for Scott.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I mean, I appreciate she didn't want to be a cheater,
- 35:07Speaker 2: but she broke up with this guy who loved her
- 35:10Speaker 2: after four years for this guy she met on her table.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Poor Troy, what a what a chimp? But also like
- 35:19Speaker 1: he had to be thinking, like what the hell.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Even think about it? She grew up with a single mom,
- 35:29Speaker 2: didn't have a lot of money. He said he was
- 35:31Speaker 2: a doctor because chiropractors are doctors, and I want to
- 35:37Speaker 2: say he loved bomb the hell out of her. Oh
- 35:43Speaker 2: my god, yes, lady, and Gray has been a member
- 35:47Speaker 2: for six months. Ye I would do a dance for you,
- 35:55Speaker 2: but I might spill my drink there. You go uhh
- 36:03Speaker 2: uh oh, I'm going to have to I'm going to
- 36:05Speaker 2: answer this on speaker. It's Jeffa.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Oh hey, Jeffa.
- 36:11Speaker 2: You're on speaker in you're live on the podcast.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Oh this is not that kind of call.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Okay, are you okay?
- 36:21Speaker 3: Yeah, something really big going on that I needed advice
- 36:24Speaker 3: and possibly to connect to somebody to like, you know, help.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Okay, how about how about I talk a little bit
- 36:32Speaker 1: about Scott and what he didn't care you can you
- 36:35Speaker 1: give me twenty minutes of course?
- 36:37Speaker 2: Okay, I love you all.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Right, bye everybody. It's a great I love.
- 36:42Speaker 2: You by you guys. I should tell everybody. The only
- 36:47Speaker 2: reason I answered is when I was talking to my
- 36:49Speaker 2: son earlier. He lives in California. He had a two
- 36:52Speaker 2: hour drive home to LA because he went to the
- 36:55Speaker 2: valley like gag me with the spoon. But anyway, they
- 37:00Speaker 2: are getting rain and he had a tree fall across
- 37:05Speaker 2: the freeway while he was driving because they're starting to
- 37:08Speaker 2: have mud slides. So I didn't want to turn my
- 37:11Speaker 2: phone off because if he needs Mama Bear, he needs me,
- 37:15Speaker 2: But now he just needs advice.
- 37:21Speaker 1: He's fine.
- 37:23Speaker 2: We have my oldest bestie on who says wait, what,
- 37:28Speaker 2: Jeffa sparks. She actually changed Jeffis diapers.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Yeah, jeff Is our new regular phone call only.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sorry, but we'll go back to Scott. So
- 37:41Speaker 2: he loved bomb the shit out of Karen okay, or
- 37:45Speaker 2: that's what we call it today. I don't know what
- 37:47Speaker 2: they called it back then. But he sent her flowers,
- 37:51Speaker 2: He took her on fancy dinners. He took her to
- 37:55Speaker 2: places that she only could dream of going. So she
- 37:59Speaker 2: had friends who later said that she fell in love
- 38:04Speaker 2: with what he could give her as much as she
- 38:07Speaker 2: did with him, because she saw him as intelligent, educated,
- 38:13Speaker 2: and they said he was very charming, and he portrayed
- 38:16Speaker 2: himself as having money and that was attractive to her.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Well, I mean, first of all, looking like he did,
- 38:26Speaker 1: you better have some money. But second some people might
- 38:30Speaker 1: like give give her like a hard time about this,
- 38:33Speaker 1: but the reality is we all kind of want security.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Bottom line is we all want security, and that's what
- 38:38Speaker 1: he could offer her, or at least pretend to offer her.
- 38:41Speaker 1: But to her, that was that was a step in
- 38:44Speaker 1: the right direction.
- 38:46Speaker 2: I mean, and that's what I said. There was no shame.
- 38:48Speaker 2: She didn't think she was going to be going to Paris.
- 38:51Speaker 2: She didn't think she was going to live in a castle.
- 38:53Speaker 2: She was thinking rent would be paid, could have a
- 38:56Speaker 2: car that was reliable, groceries you know would be and
- 39:00Speaker 2: the refrigerator, you could have kids. So she wasn't thinking
- 39:03Speaker 2: she was going to be on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Okay,
- 39:07Speaker 2: she just thought, like you said, she would have some stability. Now,
- 39:11Speaker 2: Scott did take her home to meet his parents, and
- 39:16Speaker 2: let me remind you he lived with his parents.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Elbow is on fire. That is, that is a lame
- 39:28Speaker 1: attempt at a selic stash, but I would just call it.
- 39:33Speaker 2: That was not a Selk stash, not at all, not
- 39:38Speaker 2: at all. But his parents thought she was lovely and
- 39:44Speaker 2: his mom even was teaching Karen how to make his
- 39:49Speaker 2: favorite Jewish foods. And all I can think of, what
- 39:56Speaker 2: do you think when a guy takes you home, who's
- 39:59Speaker 2: a hire practor doctor, who drives a corvette, that lives
- 40:05Speaker 2: with mommy and daddy.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Here's what it reminds me of this song I know
- 40:12Speaker 1: called Grand Red Flag, and it goes like this, You're
- 40:16Speaker 1: a red flagged man. You're a big walking scam, a
- 40:19Speaker 1: disaster from tinder to hinge, you've got mommy issues. Won't
- 40:24Speaker 1: text back then, miss you and your black hair is
- 40:27Speaker 1: giving me cringe. Every date's a debate and you're always late,
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yet somehow it's never your fault. Oh you swear you're
- 40:35Speaker 1: so nice, but you've ghosted me twice. Buddy, please go
- 40:39Speaker 1: to therapy.
- 40:42Speaker 2: He is a red flag. I'm going to just be honest.
- 40:44Speaker 2: He is a red flag. But guys, Karen learned about
- 40:48Speaker 2: his book, The Nightmare in Israel, and guys Scott said
- 40:54Speaker 2: it was a true story of his time in Israel.
- 40:57Speaker 2: I mean, basically, he said he was opening a chiropractic clinic,
- 41:02Speaker 2: didn't have a license. Maybe over there it doesn't matter,
- 41:05Speaker 2: but that mob pipes had him jailed because he would
- 41:08Speaker 2: not help him, and that he was able to talk
- 41:12Speaker 2: his way into being released, and then he went home
- 41:16Speaker 2: to the US and wrote this book. Now, guys, his
- 41:20Speaker 2: parents were with him and they said it happened and
- 41:24Speaker 2: they had to leave with him. And all I can
- 41:27Speaker 2: say is red freaking flag.
- 41:33Speaker 1: You're a red flagged man. You're a.
- 41:38Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, just run girl. But then around June,
- 41:42Speaker 2: Scott moved to Santa Monica, and I'm gonna just say
- 41:45Speaker 2: Santa Monica is beautiful. Santa Monica Freeway makes a country group. Okay, yeah,
- 41:51Speaker 2: I can't sing, not even gonna try. But guy, he
- 41:55Speaker 2: was so wealthy he had to move in with some
- 41:58Speaker 2: roommates in Santa Manana. Now he was going there to
- 42:02Speaker 2: open a new clinic. But I will say it's very
- 42:05Speaker 2: expensive in California. But they did live on the ocean,
- 42:09Speaker 2: and he had some roommates. Now they were doing the
- 42:13Speaker 2: long distance thing. Karen was not a long distance girl.
- 42:17Speaker 2: She went to see him often, but she did not
- 42:21Speaker 2: love not being there every day. Now, his roommates said
- 42:27Speaker 2: she was a wonderful person and that she had an
- 42:31Speaker 2: old soul. And all I can say when I hear
- 42:36Speaker 2: someone say somebody's an old soul, guys, don't come at me,
- 42:42Speaker 2: or if you do, go at JT. Old soul means gullible.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I do.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Old soul means gullible. You're gonna be on a boat
- 42:57Speaker 2: for a week, let him come at you.
- 43:02Speaker 1: No, that's the opposite time. Let me be on land
- 43:05Speaker 1: and come to me. Do not come to me on
- 43:07Speaker 1: a boat. I can't escape.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Okay, that's true, true, But when I hear old soul,
- 43:15Speaker 2: I know I threw me over. No, I threw him
- 43:19Speaker 2: over the edge of the boat. Really, I mean rude,
- 43:25Speaker 2: but no, But I honestly I hear old soul and
- 43:29Speaker 2: I think of gullible because you're so kind, you're so trusting,
- 43:34Speaker 2: you believe everything, and that's just my thing. But let's
- 43:40Speaker 2: move on. So in December, Karen flew out to California
- 43:44Speaker 2: to see Scott, and I'm going to tell you, California
- 43:47Speaker 2: in December is beautiful. But when she returned home to Florida,
- 43:52Speaker 2: she was excited because she was showing off that reaing
- 43:56Speaker 2: Scott proposed and she said yes, and guys, he proposed
- 44:02Speaker 2: with a nice pear shaped diamond. They said about two carrots,
- 44:07Speaker 2: which Karen loved, and guys, she growing up the way
- 44:12Speaker 2: she did. She was showing that ring to everybody, okay,
- 44:17Speaker 2: because she was proud of it. But when her mom
- 44:21Speaker 2: saw it, something in mama's guts said, you know, I
- 44:26Speaker 2: think you should go and get that ring of praise
- 44:28Speaker 2: so you can get insurance on it because you don't
- 44:31Speaker 2: want somebody to steal it. Which I respect that, but
- 44:35Speaker 2: what Mama was really thinking was, I don't think that's real.
- 44:41Speaker 1: It's a smart move, Mom, I mean, but.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Guys, I'm gonna tell you her mom was right. Okay,
- 44:52Speaker 2: it was a cz and guys, I am not saying
- 44:55Speaker 2: there's anything wrong with the CZ or lab created diamond.
- 44:59Speaker 2: I mean have friends who are absolutely against diamonds because
- 45:04Speaker 2: of their history, blood diamonds and things like that. But dude,
- 45:08Speaker 2: be honest, have the conversation and tell her because if
- 45:16Speaker 2: she loved him, she didn't care.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 45:21Speaker 2: But guys, she still decided to marry him and avoid
- 45:27Speaker 2: that red flag.
- 45:34Speaker 1: I mean, oh yeah, oh you swear you're so nice?
- 45:41Speaker 1: What your ghost did me twice? Buddy? Please go to therapy.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it's just but so Karen was excited. Okay,
- 45:55Speaker 2: uh oh oh jt oh. Our producer would like to
- 46:03Speaker 2: put in her resignation. Oh not a drama, Lama.
- 46:09Speaker 1: You don't get to quit. I get to.
- 46:13Speaker 2: How about both of you. Just take another drink of
- 46:17Speaker 2: wine and deal with it. Okay, it's love week. Nobody's quitting,
- 46:24Speaker 2: nobody's getting fired, and we only kill people that deserve it.
- 46:31Speaker 1: She's pro fish. I don't know what pro fish is,
- 46:35Speaker 1: but it might. It's got to be better than antifish.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Now, guys, Karen was excited, to be getting married. She
- 46:44Speaker 2: was started going shopping with her mom, planning for a wedding,
- 46:49Speaker 2: and guess what mister Scott did. Mister Scott talked her
- 46:54Speaker 2: into elping and guys, he took her. They got all
- 47:02Speaker 2: dressed up. On February fourth, nineteen eighty eight, they drove
- 47:08Speaker 2: to Las Vegas to get married. He wanted to do
- 47:11Speaker 2: a day trip. So guys, this is like five and
- 47:15Speaker 2: a half hours each way, and if you get married,
- 47:18Speaker 2: you do all that. I mean, worst case it's thirty
- 47:21Speaker 2: minutes if you do the drive through. Who drives eleven
- 47:25Speaker 2: hours to get married and not stay in a hotel?
- 47:33Speaker 2: I mean, what was the rush?
- 47:40Speaker 1: I I want to know, Like, did they have plans
- 47:44Speaker 1: that night? Like, oh, yeah, we'll get married. We got
- 47:46Speaker 1: to be back in time for Jeopardy and a frozen lasagna.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Well it's time.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Apparently when they got back to his place, his roommates
- 47:55Speaker 2: saw him all dressed up and he was like, oh god,
- 47:58Speaker 2: y'all guys look like all ran off and got married.
- 48:00Speaker 2: And they were like we did, and he was like,
- 48:03Speaker 2: oh did. He's like, why don't I leave for the
- 48:06Speaker 2: night and give you guys some space?
- 48:11Speaker 1: Yeah? Now you want some.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Now Scott had won a cruise from a radio show
- 48:21Speaker 2: or something. So they were going to be setting sail
- 48:24Speaker 2: in a couple of days, you know, so after they eloped,
- 48:28Speaker 2: they were going to set sail on a beautiful cruise.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Is is there any proof that he won it? Like,
- 48:34Speaker 1: did he actually win it or like he said he
- 48:37Speaker 1: did and this was the plan all along. I don't
- 48:41Speaker 1: think I actually saw any proof, just all a bunch
- 48:44Speaker 1: of things saying he just won it.
- 48:47Speaker 2: So the company where the cruise company where he won
- 48:52Speaker 2: the crew the cruise from, they did come out and
- 48:56Speaker 2: say he had won it because had to be tax
- 49:00Speaker 2: He had to pay the tax on it. Oh, just
- 49:04Speaker 2: like if you go on the prices right there was
- 49:06Speaker 2: a share company. No, but if you win stuff on prices, right,
- 49:11Speaker 2: you still have to pay the tax.
- 49:12Speaker 1: For it, right, I must, I must one hundred percent?
- 49:17Speaker 1: Miss that? Oh well, well that continue on. I'm sorry.
- 49:20Speaker 2: The way the world works. Now, they went on the cruise,
- 49:24Speaker 2: and they were like most honeymooners. They spent their honeymoon
- 49:29Speaker 2: enjoying each other and all of the activities on the ship.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I submit that they were not, or at least he wasn't.
- 49:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna go. He wasn't well. Most people said they
- 49:48Speaker 2: didn't see a lot of them, but they did go
- 49:51Speaker 2: to dinner. So for those of you that haven't been
- 49:54Speaker 2: on a cruise.
- 50:02Speaker 1: That's me. I haven't been on a cruise. I feel
- 50:05Speaker 1: attacked and scene and scene. I don't know. My ship's
- 50:16Speaker 1: bigger than that, though I can say that much. I'm
- 50:20Speaker 1: that is okay, Nope, gone, Oh you went to mute,
- 50:33Speaker 1: which is probably because it unplugged. Woo, it's just me now.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Oh man, So listen, here's the Oh wow. I feel
- 50:47Speaker 1: like I'm back in night court. That's what I feel like.
- 50:49Speaker 1: I feel like I'm back in night court. What are you?
- 50:53Speaker 1: What you are back? We're gonna put you where you
- 50:56Speaker 1: rightfully belong, on the top that I want to be
- 51:01Speaker 1: on top.
- 51:02Speaker 2: I don't always want to be on top.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Okay, let's switch it.
- 51:10Speaker 2: But okay, we could switch it up.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Now.
- 51:14Speaker 2: My mind is going places that should not go. Okay,
- 51:19Speaker 2: but so on a cruise ship, you can sit every
- 51:23Speaker 2: night at dinner with the same people, you have a
- 51:25Speaker 2: certain time, certain table, or you can go to all
- 51:28Speaker 2: the other restaurants. So back then they didn't have as
- 51:31Speaker 2: many options as they do now. But the people that
- 51:35Speaker 2: they ate with. After all of this happened, they said
- 51:39Speaker 2: he was very critical about her. He scolded her like
- 51:44Speaker 2: a child when she would eat sweets or if she
- 51:49Speaker 2: didn't know the right utensils to use. I mean, let's
- 51:52Speaker 2: be honest, this is not freaking a five star restaurant,
- 51:58Speaker 2: and it's not pretty woman.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Jesus, you're a red flag. You get it by now?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Never mind? Oh no, the microph. Oh but I blame
- 52:26Speaker 1: this ship. I blame the ship, and blame the ship.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Listen here, here's here's the funny part. You know, he
- 52:38Speaker 1: kind of reminds me. He reminds me of a guy
- 52:43Speaker 1: who books a luxury cruise or wins it with infinite buffets,
- 52:52Speaker 1: live shows and a literal water slide, and then says,
- 52:57Speaker 1: you know what, this is the perfect place to start
- 53:01Speaker 1: moby Dick, sir, the ocean. The ocean is right there.
- 53:09Speaker 1: You could just look at it instead of reading eight
- 53:11Speaker 1: hundred pages about a guy thinking about it. And you
- 53:14Speaker 1: sure as hell aren't getting me going to find it
- 53:16Speaker 1: looking in the mirror. There is no Moby Dick in
- 53:19Speaker 1: the mirror, not with a stash like that. I said
- 53:25Speaker 1: what I said, Mike drop.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Sorry for that, well, I'm the mic drop girl, so
- 53:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to get my audio guy. I am
- 53:33Speaker 2: sorry for that. But anyway, guys, not a lot is
- 53:36Speaker 2: known outside of that. But sadly, on the last side
- 53:41Speaker 2: of the cruise, which happens to be the night before
- 53:44Speaker 2: Valentine's Day February thirteenth, Scott after dinner runs to report
- 53:50Speaker 2: that Karen has fallen overboard and yet he has blood
- 53:56Speaker 2: dripping down his face. Red flag.
- 54:04Speaker 1: I'm not saying it again. I promise that was it.
- 54:09Speaker 1: You have three times and that was it. Yeah, I mean,
- 54:15Speaker 1: you know, we did not exactly mean like we picked
- 54:18Speaker 1: cases and stuff, but we didn't exactly mean for us
- 54:21Speaker 1: to talk about this on the day like thirty plus
- 54:26Speaker 1: years later, but like before.
- 54:30Speaker 2: It was karma.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, right. You know, first off, great, great job
- 54:36Speaker 1: talking about the beginning stuff. A lot of good things
- 54:40Speaker 1: in there, a lot of things that we learn, but
- 54:43Speaker 1: before we hopped directly into the investigation, autopsy and things
- 54:46Speaker 1: like that, I think it's good to kind of talk
- 54:48Speaker 1: about crimes that happened aboard ships and the procedures that
- 54:52Speaker 1: ships have because it is it is a little bit different,
- 54:57Speaker 1: and I'm sure either you all know this because you've
- 55:00Speaker 1: been on a ship, or you're interested in true crime
- 55:02Speaker 1: on ships, or you don't know it at all, and
- 55:04Speaker 1: this will be new. So I and I do want
- 55:07Speaker 1: to say caveat. I am well aware that if anything
- 55:10Speaker 1: happens to missus Bruce Crime on my cruise, I'm in
- 55:15Speaker 1: a shit ton of trouble simply because of my Google searches.
- 55:18Speaker 1: I searched for this what happens when a crime is
- 55:22Speaker 1: committed on a cruise ship, and so I will definitely
- 55:26Speaker 1: be the first person who will go down with said ship.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Okay, well, let me just be fair. Maybe it's you
- 55:39Speaker 2: that goes missing on this ship, and maybe Miss Bruce
- 55:44Speaker 2: Crime is the one who says.
- 55:47Speaker 1: And kicks you off, you know, a couple of days
- 55:50Speaker 1: stuck with me on a ship where she can't escape.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Probably, well, I can promise you this if you should
- 55:59Speaker 2: go man, or if she should go missing, all of
- 56:03Speaker 2: us in the true crime and wine time community, Oh
- 56:08Speaker 2: my god, elbow feet. Hopefully she doesn't pull a gone girl?
- 56:16Speaker 2: Oh is it JT going to pull a gone girl?
- 56:21Speaker 1: If we both do, Can.
- 56:24Speaker 2: I get littlest Can I get littlest Baby brew Crime? Then?
- 56:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you sure, sure?
- 56:33Speaker 2: I just promise you we will look into everything if
- 56:38Speaker 2: someone does anything to you, and I will promise you this.
- 56:42Speaker 2: If she throws you overboard, we will make sure she
- 56:46Speaker 2: gets off so she can raise the kids.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Okay, that works, that works. Yeah, I mean listen, I'm fine.
- 56:54Speaker 1: I'm fine with little of the spruce crime being Texan,
- 56:56Speaker 1: but not like Texan, you know what I mean. And
- 56:58Speaker 1: he has a habit of like going on, so I
- 57:01Speaker 1: don't like want the entire Texan thing.
- 57:03Speaker 2: No offense, I'll make sure he doesn't do that.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Oh okay, cool, perfect, Jeff. Okay, So listen. Crimes on
- 57:13Speaker 1: cruise ships reporting, this is kind of how this goes.
- 57:18Speaker 1: He gets reported to security. Any crime on a ship
- 57:21Speaker 1: is typically first reported to the ship's security team. Makes sense.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Then you got flag state jurisdiction, and we're gonna talk
- 57:26Speaker 1: about this in a second, so put that to the side.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Then you have the captain's discretion. The ship captain decides
- 57:32Speaker 1: whether to divert to a port to hand over a
- 57:35Speaker 1: criminal case to local authorities, or handle it on board
- 57:39Speaker 1: while at sea. Then you have you got things like
- 57:43Speaker 1: minor offenses. So like minor offenses may result in being
- 57:46Speaker 1: confined to the cabin with security monitoring. While while serious
- 57:50Speaker 1: crimes can lead to detention in in a brig on
- 57:54Speaker 1: the ship, And honestly, I've never really looked up the
- 57:57Speaker 1: photo of a brig on a ship. I don't think
- 57:58Speaker 1: I want to. Could be guantanamo on a sea, I
- 58:03Speaker 1: don't know so. And then if the crime involves a
- 58:07Speaker 1: US citizen or occurs within US maritime jurisdiction, the FBI
- 58:12Speaker 1: is probably going to become involved. Now, you might say,
- 58:15Speaker 1: but JT international waters, blah blah blah, blah blah blah.
- 58:19Speaker 1: That's not how I hear you. It's just what I wrote. Well,
- 58:23Speaker 1: I do hear you saying that, But so does the law.
- 58:28Speaker 1: And what I mean by that is cruise ships can
- 58:31Speaker 1: dock or be out at sea, and where the cruise
- 58:34Speaker 1: ship is when the incident occurs is key to understanding
- 58:38Speaker 1: which laws apply. So this area of law is called
- 58:41Speaker 1: maritime law, and it's vital for anyone on a cruise
- 58:45Speaker 1: to have at least a basic understanding of it. Now,
- 58:48Speaker 1: in most cases, cruise ships in international waters will follow
- 58:52Speaker 1: the laws of the country where the ship is registered.
- 58:56Speaker 1: The ship's captain has discretion to detain a person until
- 58:59Speaker 1: the ship can dock and other law enforcement agencies can
- 59:02Speaker 1: get involved. Now, any crimes that occur within twelve nautical miles,
- 59:07Speaker 1: which is thirteen point eighty one miles. I did the
- 59:10Speaker 1: math of a country shoreline. It means that that country's
- 59:16Speaker 1: laws will apply. So if you're within twelve nautical miles,
- 59:19Speaker 1: that country's laws will apply. If they are more than
- 59:22Speaker 1: twelve nautical miles away, it's typically going to be where
- 59:25Speaker 1: the cruise ship is registered. Now, maritime law is weird,
- 59:31Speaker 1: somewhat country specific. The Netherlands has a law where you
- 59:35Speaker 1: cannot legally claim a sinking piece of land. If an
- 59:39Speaker 1: island in Dutch waters begins to submerge, it's legally it's
- 59:43Speaker 1: legally considered a sinking island and can be claimed by
- 59:46Speaker 1: the government. So maritime laws all over the place. But
- 59:51Speaker 1: now that I have completely tossed us off course again,
- 59:55Speaker 1: very good at it. Let's get back to what happened
- 59:57Speaker 1: during the investigation. So it was mentioned earlier that many
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: people noticed tension between Kathy and Scott during the cruise. Well,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: during the investigation, a passenger who shared a tale with
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: them testified that Roston was angry with Kathy because she
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: ate sweets and didn't know what eating utensils to use
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: like Terrant's. Yes, yes, ma'am.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Some reason, I think you've had too much to drink.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: You've just called her Kathy twice and her name is Karen.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: What yep?
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Probably you need to drink some water like I'm going
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: to because I just almost called you Scott. What happens
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: when we drink before the show?
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, good grief. Okay, well, here we go.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Apparently the utensils was it was a complex setting of
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: shipboard silverware, which I never thought was that inside ever
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: say in my life. But here we are, Okay.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: It's not guys on a ship. It is just like
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: if you go to a five star restaurant. There's just
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: a salad fork, an appetizer fork, a dinner fork, a
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: soup spoon, a spoon, a butter spoon, a steak or
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: a butter knife, a state knife. It's just all of that.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: But guys, just pick up whichever utensil you want to use.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: We're not on pretty woman.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Wait. Way through that, all I heard was.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: It's a cruise ship. For God's sake, you're not having
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: dinner with the queen.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: I don't know I saw Titanic. It's very intimidating. Also,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: I believe in finding a turp two person door frame
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: and our door and not a one person door. Also,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I'm really glad that girls don't wear petticoats anymore. All right,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: so listen, So some girls so on your wedding dock.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Oh okay, Well eh, there's nothing I can say that
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: is safe. Rostin was also seen fighting a woman on
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: deck about forty five minutes to one hour before he
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: reported that his wife had gone overboard in the early
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: morning of February thirteenth, nineteen eighty eight. Scott told inconsistent
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: stories about how his wife went overboard. He first tried
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: to tell the investigator who that was, we're gonna get
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: too shortly, that she was blown overboard, blown overboard. Now listen.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: In this account, Karen decided to take a moonlit power
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: walk around the upper deck jogging track. Part Way through
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: the walk, he stopped because he went with her to rest.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: So he stopped to rest. She charged ahead. The next
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: thing he he heard, Scott hal pow pow pop, and
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: he found her dangling from a railing over the water,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: and before he could get to her, she lost her
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: grip and fell first off. Karen was five foot three,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: the railing over which she fell was three foot six.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: And it should also be told that the wind was
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: reported to be four or five miles per hour that night.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: This because I looked it up, I can tell you
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: this is considered a light breeze where you feel it
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: on your face and the leaves rustle. So unless Karen
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: was code for a rogue leaf, this isn't what happened
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: at all. If nobody heard a shohoha barking at the
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: leaf rolling by, this is not a thing. Not a thing,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: not a thing.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: I mean, it is beyond laughable because this guy is
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: dumb if he thinks a four or five mile an
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: hour wind can blow a person overboard. It took sixty
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: five seventy five mile an hour winds to pick up
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: a trampoline and blow my trampoline in the backyard. It
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: weighs less than a human. It's a little bitty trampoline.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: He's stupid.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Yeah, well listen. When Rostin reported that Karen had gone overboard,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: his face was severely scratched. There were three gouges and
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: a six inch gash on his face, and he said
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: he said. He said that he had hit his head
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: on a gangway control box. Did he hit it four times?
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Three?
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Four times? I don't think so. They there was no blood,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: there was no hair, there were no other marks found
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: on the box. So who, I don't think that works.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that doesn't work. I'm gonna just be honest. That
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: doesn't work.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Mm hmmm, not at all. So photographs of the box
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: were taken and it could be seen that there were
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: no sharp protrusions that could have even caused the triangular
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: gouges and a four inch scratch with which Roston had
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: on his face. And I don't know who created the
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: one scratch, like like who? So that would mean that
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: would mean that would mean that he would create the
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: one scratch by hitting the box and then he'd say,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: you know what, I want a little more and he
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: would go back for the other three.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Wait a minute, maybe the wind was so strong at
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: five miles an hour it blew him into the box
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: a couple of times that just stawned on me.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Time ten times, fifteen times? It could have been I
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: lost count. You must have hit three times in three
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: different areas, all at the same time. You know what
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: it was? Of boxes? It was just a gaggle of
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: boxes that just came up. Oh man. Uh so. So
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: when Rostin had completed the report of Karen going overboard,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: he was questioned at length by the ships. Well, can
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: you guess who questioned him?
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Doctor Ship?
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Correct? Well, not doctor Ship, not doctor Love, not doctor Strange,
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: but doctor Young. So jogie howser. But he was. He
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: was questioned by the ship's doctor. And in fairness to
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: doctor Young. In addition to being a medical doctor, he
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: was deputized as a law officer in Hawaii, so you
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: know he's read some books and filled the sure. Sure.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: The questioning took place in the captain's cabin with the
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: door open. During questioning, other people occasionally entered and left,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: and with Rostin's permission, the interrogation was audio taped. Now,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: when the questioning ended, Rawston was put in an unoccupied
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: cabin underguard. He was never advised of his Miranda rights.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Now I look this up and a lot of you
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: will be like, no, Miranda rights. What? Well, guess what
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Miranda see. I know you, guys, I know you. Miranda
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: rights are not required in international waters. Yeah, they're not
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: required in international waters, but they are required in the
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: US when a suspect is arrested and taken into custody.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Karen was thrown overboard twenty two miles off the San
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Diego coast, which is much further than twelve nautical miles
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: that I mentioned before. So Miranda rights not necessarily needed
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: until taken within custody of the US law law enforcement.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: So I just we're going to get in a little
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: bit kind.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Of yeah, yeah, I just thought of something and it
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: just hit my alcohol infuse brain. Oh what if they
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: were in the Gulf of Mexico, which has now been
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: renamed by some people, would that be considered international waters
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: or would that be American waters?
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Well, you see, you've got to consider the nautical miles.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: So it all comes down the nautical miles no matter
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: which ocean.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: We like to call them freedom units here, and I
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: just don't know, okay.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: So, like if I was in Italy, the same laws
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: would apply. Even if I was in Italy on the
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: Italy Italian coast. If I'm more than twelve miles out,
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: it would still be international waters.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: It would be international waters. And while how they do
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: things on the ship might differ, they will defer to
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: where the ship's registered so if the ship's registered in
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: the US, they'll do things that way. The ship's registered
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: in the UK, they'll do it in another way. It's
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: it's a whole thing.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Really, here's I mean. So if w H goes missing
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: when we take our Italian cruise, I know what my
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: defense needs to be.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: It's it's a massive gray area.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: It's like it's like it's like a gray area within
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: a chain link fence. Okay, like there are some boundaries
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: that you don't cross, but until then you get to those,
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: give out.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Don't kill anyone on a cruise ship, got it.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: That's it. So. Doctor Douglas Dixon, who is a deputy
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: medical Examiner of the San Diego County Coroner's Office, testified
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: during the trial. Now what you reported is what I'm
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: going to mention here in regards to the findings. Dixon
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: performed the autopsy ten days after Scott and Karen were
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: married in Las Vegas.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna stop you again. Ten days after they
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: got married, Okay, I want everybody to stop and think
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: about that. Ten days after you say I do your
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: autopsy is being performed.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: That is absolutely horrific.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: I mean, yes, it is terrible. I here's my question.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: You know, if you're married by a pastor or somebody
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: versus Elvis, is the time different. So like, if you're
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: married by Elvis and your Britney spears, it's not gonna
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: last very long. So maybe this was long. What's the
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: what's the what's the officient to marriage length ratio?
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: Well, in Vegas or at least when we live there,
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: they were all some type of ministry type thing, so
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: they were the same as going to a judge in
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: getting done. But you know what I just thought of.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: Her autopsy was ten days after aren't you going on
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: a cruise to celebrate your ten year anniversary?
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah?
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Do we see the correlations with the math number there's listen.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: First off, producer said, no marriage math. I think that's
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: really saying, don't your shovel and start digging, So so listen.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: I I have been very open about us covering this
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: case tonight with missus Bruce Crime, and every time she's
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: just like, oh my god, oh my god, could you tell.
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: Her to call me? Because I mean, I love you dearly,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: but I need to make sure she's safe on this
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: cruise and I have girl code over podcast host code.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: So I'm gonna just have to admit I gotta have
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: her back there, so I just have her call me
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: and I will make sure she doesn't do it on
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: a cruise ship because what I'm hearing the laws are
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: just too convoluted, and yeah, let's just.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Not all right. So listen, we're gonna get kind of
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: a little bit dark because that's just what I do.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: I just take cold water and toss it on everything.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: So the doctor found that Karen was actually choked to
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: the point of unconsciousness and then she was thrown overboard.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Now Dixon found large red marks on Karen's neck. He
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: said that she was alive when she suffered most of
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: her cuts and bruises, and she was still breathing when
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: she hit the water off the ship Star Dancer. Bruises
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: found on her breasts were suffered earlier than this attack,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: so so there were there were there were things from
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: before this as well, which to me, I'm I'm I'm
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: not a doctor and I don't play one on TV,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: but to me, that means that there was prior abuse
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: to some degree.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: Yeah, red flag.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: The Yeah also was found a frothy fluid within her lungs,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: which indicated that she was quote breathing at least for
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: some period of time while she was in the water,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: and her neck and eyes showed signs of hemorrhage, which
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: argued for manual strangulation. Her neckbones also showed warping, which
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: was indicative of strangulation. So he did this with his
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: bare hands. Now, in addition, her clothing contained material from
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: the jogging track on the deck, which meant that she
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: had probably been pressed to the deck with a great
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: deal of force. Now, during the investigation on the boat,
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: parts of her earrings were found on the deck along
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: with strands of hair. Those strands of hair showed signs
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: of having been yanked from her head. So this was violent.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: This was violent overall overall though, like what was found
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: led Dixon to establish the cause of Karen Rosston' death
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: as quote choking associated with drowning. Now, just to kind
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: of summarize the investigation autopsy conclusion, which is from US v.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Roston from the US Court of Appeals, this is what
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: was written here. There was evidence of a substantial struggle.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Parts of the decedent's earrings and remnants of her hair
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: were found on the deck, eleven and a half feet
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: from the railing where she went overboard. The injury to
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: her forehead was consistent with the prosecution's theory that her
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: head had been smashed against the deck of the ship.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: The hemorrhaging and bone warping in her neck indicated she
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: had been strangled. The cumulative effect of this evidence suggests
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: that the decedent's assailant, over the course of a fairly
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: prolonged struggle, intended to kill her. Moreover, the killing process
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: continued beyond the struggle and strangling. The decedent was not dead,
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: but only unconscious when she was pushed or thrown into
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: the ocean. At that time, the ship was twenty miles
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: out to sea, so right, obviously.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: She didn't fall over Ford.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: It was not a light breeze that did it. No,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the light breeze didn't do all of that.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Good news. Scott was arrested in Long Beach, California by
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: federal officers on suspicion of murdering his bride Carrot once are. Oh,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: look at that fella dough you know, having talked about
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: it now, it's so funny because like his picture just
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: rings something completely different now, oh.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: My gosh, he looks like welcome back.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Cotter, Welcome back, welcome back.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: I just looked at the picture on the tiny thing
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: and I went, oh my god, it's welcome that Cotter.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: I appropriately wore this shirt tonight. I didn't even realize
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: why I wore this shirt tonight, but here it is.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: This is why, once arrested, Scott proceeded to give a
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: a third version of what happened to Karen, because we're
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: not gonna get just one. We're not gonna get just two.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: But wait, there's more. There's a third. Now, I'd like
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: to present the curious case of the chiropractor, the assassins,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: and the best seller nobody bought. Now, according to Rostin,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: a man whose grasp on reality was as firm as
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: a wet handshake, Israeli assassins had murdered his wife in
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: cold blood. Now not just any assassins, mind you, elite
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: government trained vengeful Israelis who apparently had nothing better to
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: do than take revenge on a fake chiropractor turned author
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: from the Bronx. What he told he told the FBI.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: I'm trying to imagine what he sounds like. And this
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: is what it is They were out for blood. He
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: told the FBI. It has last year I published an
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: exposed day about their crimes. Now not it was either
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: that or he sounded like he's sounded like mister Burns
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: from from Uh from the Simpsons. But listen, this was
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: of course devastating news for Israel, since Rostin's self published book,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: in which he paid Vantage Press to publish it, had
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: shaken the very foundations of the Israel rarely government by
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: as you said, selling exactly one copy, just one, just one,
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: just one forture.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Coy.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, for sure. So he he said that,
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: like you know, to fully understand his his his intimate
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: knowledge of Israeli corruption, one has to kind of consider
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: his qualifications. As we mentioned, he was born in the
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: Bronx to a chiropractor, already a beacon of credibility. He
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: attended the Life Chiropractic College, which sounds suspiciously like a cult,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: but we assure you it is a real place. Upon
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: earning his degree, but not crucially a license, he decided
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: to seek his fortune in Israel because if there's one
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: thing that this country needed in nineteen seventy nine, it
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: was an unlicensed chiropractor living in Georgia lobby. However, things
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: went awry when he allegedly fell in with the Israeli mafia, who,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: because this is a completely reasonable and plausible thing to happen,
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: disguise themselves as Hasidic Jews and tried to recruit him
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: for a robbery. Now one might pause here and wonder
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: what exactly does the Israeli mafia want with a chiropractor?
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: Was the plan to crack open the safe and a
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: few misaligned vertebrate Whatever the case, Roustin ultimately found himself
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: in Israeli prison, a place he managed to escape by
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: pretending to be an eight year old child, specifically a
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: thumbsucking one, apparently with a porn stash too. At this point,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: even the most gullible FBI agent must have been giving
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: him the look. Now, you know the one. You all
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: know the one, Ah, I see your being insane? Look
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: that look? Right?
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: Sorry, I'm gonna disagree. I honestly think they were thinking,
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: does this guy think we are stupid as he looks?
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: I mean that is my first thing. I'm like, does
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: this guy think we're as stupid as he looks?
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: Right now, now, listen, the biggest tragedy in all of
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: this was that Prime Minister man at Trim began himself
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: himself allegedly feared Rastin, which was news to him because
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: he had never heard of the man. Now, I did
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: seem unlikely, given that Rastin's masterpiece of investigative journalism had
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: only sold a single copy before the trip. But as
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: often the case with murderers and snake oil salesman, tragedy
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: does wonders for publicity. Now, by the time the trial
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: rolled out, demand for Nightmare in Israel had soared, absolutely
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: soared all the way to seventy eight copies a whole
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: seventy eight copies that brilliant, brilliant, brilliantly illustrated book, Nightmare
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: in Israel. Also that didn't need well now. Oddly enough,
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: just a few months before, quote a Palm Beach County
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: sheriff spokesman said, Scott Rosten's mother reported last March, which
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: was in eighty seven, that he had been abducted by
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Israeli agents from a Florida shopping mall. Because I have
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: to say, if they're going to do any abducting, it's
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: going to be from a Florida shopping I he just
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: couldn't get his chinos that the incident was not investigated
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: because Rustin's statements could not be confirmed. Barrel said, so
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: you know he he gave he gave us some some
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: some descriptions of folks, and these are the sketches.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Wait a minute, I think I know that guy on
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: the bottom.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: That's funny because I think it's one of the Menendez
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: brothers on the top. So we're good.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: Oh oh i oh, Lady and Gray just said now
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: I want to read that trash. Okay, lady and Gray,
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: I'm not gonna shame you if you buy it, but
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: if you buy it, you need to agree to mail
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: it to everybody within our community. So we don't buy
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: it more than what because I would like to read
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: that trash too, imo it said, I work.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: With both these guys. Is that book on the reading list?
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: We do need to read them list, don't we? We
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: should have a running reading list. I do.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: I just finished reading Brian Joseph's book Vegas Concier for
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: the second time.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: There you go, there you go, so add that to
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: your reading list.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: Can I just say the one thing, I'm happy neither
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: one of them look like my ex husbands.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Ah? Good, good, Listen I need everybody to look under
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: your chairs, because we left the book for you. You
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: get a book, and you get a book, and you
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: get a No. So the listen agents from the Holy
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: Land had ambushed the couple, drugged him, and killed her
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: during their midnight exercise session. That's what he said. He
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: explained Away's earlier story of the wind blowing Karen overboard
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: by saying it was a drug induced hallucination. He must have.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: I've seen the wind up and toss over. Cheez wheeze.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: The funny part is the wind looked a lot like
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Rodney Dangerfield, which makes sense with the shirt I'm wearing
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: right now. All right, so I'm gonna talk a little
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: bit about the trial. It began in late February nineteen
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: eighty nine. The defense well again they well, they were committed.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: They stuck to the whole. Karen was murdered by Israeli men,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: with Scott being framed defense. Has anybody ever heard of
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: this type of defense? No? I haven't either, not since then,
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: So it didn't work well in their rebuttal case. The
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: prosecution surprised them by bringing to the stand Maurice Hasiza.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: Now who it's true, good grief have him on the show.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Elbow Feet said, the win equals sacidic Ninja's elbow feet.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: I don't know what you're drinking. I don't know what
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: you're eating. I don't know what gummies you're chewing. But
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: whatever you're doing, could you put it in a box
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: and send it to me please.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: It's seriously a sober observation, if I know.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: B okay, if it is sober, then he definitely needs
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: to be on our show because he is ten times
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: spunnier than we ever thought it'd be.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: In It's true and and now and now producer, our
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: producer is now thinking, good god, I have to live
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: with him, all right, So.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: You know we could we could do something about that.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: I mean, if she wants to change that situation, we
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: can be the helpline. Now it's never sober, not never, yeah,
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: he says, if Adhd is ever s.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Mm hmmm. So in their rebuttal case, the prosecution surprised
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: them by bringing like I said, Maurice Haziza. Now who
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: is that, you might say, Well, he happened to be
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: one of the two Israeli passengers on the boat that
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Scott had fingered uh identified. He had identified them that's
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: not the right verb. Uh. Maurice testified that he was
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: not a secret agent for the Israeli government, to which
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: Scott said exactly what a secret agent for the Israeli
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: government would say. No, no, no, no, no, he's not.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Maurice was actually a wedding photographer.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: Huh, he's not wrong. That's what they would say.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: It's true. But in this case, Maurice was actually a
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: wedding photographer on vacation, and his traveling companion, Emial Darn,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: had visited Disneyland and Universal Studios before embarking on the
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: Mexico Cruise to complete their vacation after photographing a wedding
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: for a friend. He is a space cover. Some people
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: call me the Space Cowboy. People call me your gigs Lulu.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: All right, So so Maurice was literally just on a vacation.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: He's a wedding photographer. Overall, the jury was he's pretty unimpressed. Now,
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I mean, I can believe that. Can you believe that? Well?
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Hell would they expect from this guy?
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: No, because if I was on the jury, I would
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: have been like, why do we even need to go
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: and deliberate? This guy is an idiot? And the Uh, oh,
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: I am sorry, guys, I just saw that Sammy's Sunshine arrived.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: Oh Sammy, do not go back and watch this on
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: replay because if you do, you're gonna come at me,
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: because I said Valentine's is more important Christmas. Anyway, We're
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: just gonna move on there. But I think he's insane.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Yes, But the right thing is that Scott did not
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: testify it in his own defense, so that's good. So
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: they only had information they were given to go off of.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: And even if he did testify, I mean, come on.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: In the end, the jury found Scott guilty of second
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: degree murder on the High Seas. Now it's sentencing. The
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: court saw forensic evidence collected from the ship's upper deck,
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: as well as the condition of Karen's body. This showed
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: that Karen was severely beaten and strangled before her body
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: was thrown overboard. Now, the US District Judge James I'dman
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: sentenced him to life in prison without parole, observing quote,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: this is one of the cruelest crimes this court has
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: ever seen. It is the court's hope that this defendant
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: never is released. Now in November of ninety four, I
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: wish in November of ninety four, Scott Rosten appealed his sentence,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: and the court sustained the conviction but remanded for resentencing.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: And they said, quote the appellate opinion noted by the
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: imposed by imposed that by imposing a life sentence, the
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: trial court had applied the penalty required under the Federal
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: sentence and guidelines for first degree murder, even though the
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: defendant was only convicted of murder in the second degree.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: In November of ninety four, Scott Rosten was resentenced to
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: a term of thirty three years nine months. Rosted appealed
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: again in ninety nine. That appeal argued that the four
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: hundred and five month sentence imposed during the first appeal
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: was unwarranted. The court was inclined to disagree.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: Yeah, disagree, Well, so I often disagree with judges because
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: I'm sorry, you kill your bride of ten days.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: You lie about it. Oh now it's just me great,
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: I love it. So you lie about it. You should
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: not get thirty three years. I'm sorry. They should take
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: into account the severity of what he did to her,
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: all of his lies. He tried to throw an entire
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: country blame them. Now, I'm sorry he gets life without
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: parole in my book. But guys, I've got bad news.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Scott was released from prison July eighth, twenty seventeen. Yes,
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: you heard me right, that pos is out. So he
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: has stayed out of the public lime light since he
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: was released. But I'm sure he is still love bombing someone.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: But I don't know. But y'all know how I like
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: to go dig and find information. So he currently lives
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: in North Hollywood and he's lived there for the last
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: six years. Guys, I have his address, but he is
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: seventy three years old, and I'm guessing he's living off
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: of his parents' estate because I could not find where
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: he's worked or has done anything. But I also found
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: his email when I found his address, and I have
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: sent him an email. We will see if he responds.
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: I send him a picture of me and said I
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: would like to chat with him because I think he
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: got railroaded.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Probably did in prison. Listen, I didn't know that. I
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: didn't know that, you said, did he let you know
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: that he opened it up with all those red flags.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Maybe he's just waiting to win another cruise before he
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: reaches out to you.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: Actually he might, I think maybe, after all my jokes tonight.
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: I don't think you can expect to reply. Oops.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: Maybe I can send him an email telling him he
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: won a free cruise.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: And it's called Crime and Wine time exactly. This is
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Listen seventy three, twenty twenty six idea and goal. We
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: do a true crime one time cruise and he is
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: a guest. I just will never send me on the
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: top deck.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: I'm like, I can never fake it for a seventy
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: three year old who look that bad in his heyday
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: charming days. I'm going to just be honest. I can't.
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: I can't. But if he does respond to me, I
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: will let you know. And if anybody wants his information,
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: if you send me a DM on social I will
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: tell you where to go and find the information so
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: I don't get in trouble. It is public information. I
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: did find it on a free public site. Then I
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: used one of my paid sites to verify it was
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: true and he had received mail there. In November of
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: last year, Kelly.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: P said, the cruise is out of Vegas.
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: Okay, even better, we have a captain. Captain has been
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: the cruise director. Yes, elbow feet's funny, but god, thank
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: god he's pretty. Because he wants to know, how could
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: there be a cruise out of Vegas?
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: He's so pretty, pretty, pretty pretty, huh. Okay, so let's
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: we've come off. We've come unglued, as one would say,
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: Scott Rowson's case is a great depiction of how to
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: not commit a crime. He made every mistake in the book,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: including his book that was a crime itself. You know,
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: you know how OJ wrote if I did it. I'm
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: thinking his book would be titled how not to do it?
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: If I did it? Which I know you know, and
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: that I know you know, I know that you know.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: It's okay. You can always go back on the replay
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: and make sure that that makes sense. Now, Karen's death
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: reminds us of the dangers and this is this is serious.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: It reminds us of the dangers of intimate partner violence. Now,
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: behind the dark humor and the absurdity of Scott's lies
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: is a young woman who lost her life at the
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: hands of someone that she trusted and that she loved.
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: And in the end, the killer wind didn't get Karen,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Scott did. And while the star Dancer sails on in memory,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: this honeymoon is forever going to be remembered as a
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: grim warning that love and trust, when placed in the
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: wrong hands, can lead to devastating, devastating consequences. So I say,
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: with the final bit of this bottle of wine, here's
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: the love, trust and the occasional background check.
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: Occasional. I'm gonna just tell you straight off the bat
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: if you are going out with somebody. Before I would
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: let Double H pick me up for first date at
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: my house. He gave me his information so I could
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: do a background check on him. You are not come
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: into my house as a single mama two kids, and
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: I gave him my background check. I am sorry the
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: world when I say watch out for crime when I
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: end things. What I'm saying is, don't be stupid. If
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: you meet a guy in a bar and you're out
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: with your friends. Even back in the days when I
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: went to bars and if I wanted to go home
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: with the guy, you get the guy's ID, you give
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: it to your friend. He doesn't get an ID back
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: until they get me back.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: That's brilliant.
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: I mean, now, you have a cell phone, but back
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: then we didn't have.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: None of my friends have ever come up with that.
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: I love that you don't.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: You've got to realize because all of us who say
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: it will never happen to me, we're the ones that's
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: gonna happen to because we think that. So just always
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: remember that. And I'm going to just tell you Scott
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: Rostin he lied. I think he spun a tail. I
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: think his parents believe him about what happened in Israel,
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: and I just want to look at them and say, oh,
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: bless your parental hearts. It's like those parents who say
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: my kid would never I learned the hard way. Don't
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: ever say that, because the minute you say that, you're
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: gonna have to eat crow. Okay, but he was a
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: horrible person. There were so many red flags with him,
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: and Karen loved him and trusted him. She saw him
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: as a chance to have a better life. And I
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: think he used that to his ability. And I think
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: he controlled her, loved bomb her, and we know he
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: physically abused her. And I just want to say he
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: was guilty. That evidence was overwhelming, and I think Karen
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: deserved so much more than she got. And there is
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: nothing wrong with wanting to have a better life. I
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: had a friend who used to say, you can marry
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: a rich guy just as easy as you can a
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: poor guy. And my response is, yeah, you can always
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: marry an asshole just as well as you can marry
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: a good girl. So Belle asked how long did they
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: date before they got married. It was like eighteen months,
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: it so, but she quit her job and moved to
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: California with him, and there for a while she was
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: dating Troy. So but this story serves as another reminder
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: of how dangerous an abuser can be when they fill
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: their controls slipping away. And I think he knew once
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: they got back on land the jig was up. She
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: was going to find out. There was no practice, he
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: didn't have a license, he had no money. I read
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: one article that said the money he won from his
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: slip and fall, he was down to like ten grand.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: You can't keep up an appearance.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: A lot of great. Huh, that's a lot of money.
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: Not in California.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: Okay, Well but his rent, yeah probably not.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: Was probably back then two thousand dollars twenty five hundred
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: dollars a month. He had no job, didn't have a license,
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: he didn't have a way to make money. So I
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: think that's what happened. I mean, six months, ten grand
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: would maybe have gotten him six months, but I'm sure
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: she would have been like, Okay, we're married. Now, why
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: are we still living with two roommates? Why can't we
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: move out on our own. If you're a doctor, why
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: can't I go see your practice? Why can't I see
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: the building? Why can't I? I mean, so, I just
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: want to remind anyone, male or female, if you're in
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: an abusive relationship, there is help, there is ways out,
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: and do not think that you're alone. Oh, Kelly p
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: just asked wear in California, Santa Monica ocean front, so
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: I said, even back then, that's a pricey place.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, elbow feed said ten k and eighty
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: seven A lot of money, it is. I just I
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: looked up the conversion. It's about twenty six thousand dollars,
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: so it's not as much as it was. You still
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: could not buy a dozen eggs.
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: Not in Santa Monica, making sure.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: I mean they're eight twenty six here. I don't know
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: what they are in Santa Monica, but it's got to
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: be like sixteen.
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: You're paying eight twenty six a dozen. That's what we're
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: paying for eighteen eggs ours.
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's about right. Yeah, don't worry. The prices
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: have gone down.
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: Well, I'm going to just tell you on the cruise,
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: you're probably going to be getting powdered eggs instead of
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: real eggs, cause there's no way they can afford those
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: real eggs.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: Right now, that's all right. You know what I already
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: paid for. So whatever they want to give is five.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna just chase it with alcohol and it'll be fine.
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: Say, I hate this guy. I hate that he ringed cruises.
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: I hate that he did this at Valentine's Day. I
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: hate that he did this after being married to someone
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: for ten days. I hate, I hate, I hate. And
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: he got out of prison way too soon. And I
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: do hope he was somebody's bitch when he was in prison.
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: And Scott, if you hear this for somehow this finds
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: its way to you, call me love to hear your story.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: Sammy Sunshine says there was a meme today that said
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: by her something expensive and the guy hands her a
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: cardon of eggs. Oh man, all right, listen, we gotta
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: wrap this up. We gotta wrap this up. Everybody's gotta
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: go to bed. I have to sober up, so I'll
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: let you know something. Listen, I am gonna be away,
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: but Terry is gonna nail like she always does the interview.
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: You're waiting for me to finish that sentence. I know.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: Let the So we're gonna have the author, Brian Joseph,
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: author of Vegas Concierge, on for an interview next Thursday
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: at nine pm. And that's Eastern Standard time. So if
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: you were in a different time zone, you do the
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: time zone math. I won't and and and just you know,
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: for you all to know, while we do have, while
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: we do have up until August like thought out in
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: terms of cases and stuff, because apparently we are now organized.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: I love it so much, so very very much. Well correction, correction,
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: hold on, hold on, I'm organized kind of Terry and
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: everybody else was always organized, but oh.
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: I was ready to say bullshit.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: If if you have any suggestions for cases, please please
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: please send them to Tara at tcwtmedia dot com. Please
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: do that. It's a huge help to us because then
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: we get to cover things that you want to hear about,
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: and that's ultimately what we'd like to do. The more
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: we get, the more we hear from you, the better
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: we are able to you know, kind of tap into
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: what you're interested in.
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: And we learn about cases we haven't heard about, right,
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: you know. Now, I do want to say about Brian
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: Joseph next week. The book is about sex trafficking and
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: hip hop and corruption, so I just want to tell
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: everybody and give everybody a heads up. We're not going
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: to get into details. He did a phenomenal job with
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: the book. He actually interviewed a young lady who was
- 1:46:07Speaker 2: sex trafficked, and I thought I knew a lot, I
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: learned a lot, So I am very excited to have
- 1:46:15Speaker 2: him on. So remember to like subscribe and hit that
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: notification bell so that way you will get notified that
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: I'm going to be doing that interview. Okay, Now, I
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: also would love if you would leave a comment on
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: YouTube or on the podcast apps what you think about
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: the case, because this case has so many feels. I mean,
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: I think every case we cover has so many feels,
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: so we would love to get your comments and your feedback. Also,
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: for those of you that are not aware, I am
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: back with Midday Missing every Monday and Wednesday at one
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: pm Eastern, where we cover missing pering cases that do
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: not get enough coverage, and I'm gonna be honest. If
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: you're not white, blonde hair, blue eyes, drop day gorgeous,
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: you're not getting the attention you deserve, so come check
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: it out. Also follow us on all social media launched.
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: You can now find the new Midday Missing Facebook page.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: This is not a page where we are interacting with people.
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: This is just a page where we are posting the
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: missing person flyers for cases we cover. Also with other
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: missing person people that we react with or interact with,
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: I should say they will post there, so it will
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: be a place for missing person flyers from across any
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: missing person organization. Okay. Also, if you want to see
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: us live where you live, send potential locations to Tara
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: at tcwtmedia dot com. We are planning out our places
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: where we're going. We're working on coming to Ohio and
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: to Richmond, Virginia. We're going to be here in the
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: Austin area in May, so send those out. Kelly P.
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: Thank you for asking about Chase. Working on an update
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: for Chase. There are some big struggles with doing an
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: update because we have gotten some phenomenal tips. We need
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: to verify some of these tips because if they're not accurate,
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: we do not want to get in trouble for slander,
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: and I am a firm believer in fact checking and
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: not doing rumors. I can say the tips do all
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: point to Matt Brewer, and I am okay saying that
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: on air. I don't know if the tips are honest
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: and true, but once we can get some clarification on that,
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: definitely we will have an update on Chase. We've run
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: into some issues in that legal area of being careful
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: about releasing, but I am hoping within the next couple
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: of months we can do an update. We are also
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: looking into having another event for Chase in July, the
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: weekend he went missing, so that we can honor that
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: and get the word out again.
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: Awesome, so awesome. You know, I'm gonna put you on
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: the spot right now. It'd be great if we could
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: live stream that event if you end up doing it.
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: Oh, abso fresolutely we would do that, because I do
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: want to his family.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: Right right, right right, I do want to remind everybody
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: you know. On March twenty first, we're gonna be doing
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: a show for members. So if you're not a member,
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: if you haven't been gifted a membership, you can click
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: on the join button and you'll get that. Also, our
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: live stuff in our live shows will be streamed two
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: members as well as a thank you for joining us
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: and and and being a part of this community, so
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: you will get the live show on top of any
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: additional things that we offer to you. So that will
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: be that will be coming your way as well, and
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: we're very excited about that because it's not just going
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: to be the same show every time depending on where
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: we're at. That's the that that's the case. We're going
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: to try and grab a case from the location that
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: we're going to be at, because that's obviously what they're
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: interested in, right, that's what we're interested in.
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: I mean, I will be honest, I would love it
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: if we can find a venue in Houston or Crosby
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: that wants to host us and US cover Chases case
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: from the beginning local. I mean, I would just be
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: on it. I mean I would love that. So if
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: anybody is watching that lives in that area, you know,
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: if you know of a place, please would love to
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: do that because I would invite Old Addison and Matt
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: to come on down. So well.
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: I love to say thank you for joining us on
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: Valentine's Eve because tomorrow is the most magical day of
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: the year. Yes, Sammy Sunshine, I said it. Valentine's Day
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: is tomorrow, and I hope you all have a wonderful
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: Valentine's Day. And as always, stay safe, watch out for
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: crazy people, and enjoy your wine, time your cocktails and
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: have some chocolate.
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: And as I always say, thanks for tuning in, take
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: care of yourselves, your friends, your family, and your community.
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: Please don't let anybody dull that sparkle. Damn it. That's
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: not usually part of it, but I'm gonna say it anyways.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: Shine on, Shine on you crazy diamonds, shine on. Thanks
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: for joining us, and we will see while Terry will
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: see you next week for that interview.
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: And JT maybe overboard we will find out oooo I.
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: Might be part of a court TV case. Who knows.
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: Good Bye everybody,
