Today we're adding time-of-day greetings. You already know ሰላም for a general hello. Luna: Right. ሰላም means peace or just hi. Lucas: Exactly. But if you want to say 'good morning' in Amharic, you say እንደምን አደርክ. Repeat after me: እንደምን አደርክ. Luna: እንደምን አደርክ. That's a mouthful! Lucas: You got it! Literally 'how did you spend the night?' So it's a morning greeting. Try it again. Luna: እንደምን አደርክ. Lucas: Perfect. Now for 'good afternoon' we say እንደምን አረፍ. That's for the afternoon. Luna: እንደምን አረፍ. So it's like 'how did you spend the day?' Lucas: Yes! And for evening or night, we say እንደምን አረፍተህ. Literally 'how did you spend the evening?' Luna: እንደምን አረፍተህ. That one is similar to the afternoon one. Lucas: Close! አረፍ is afternoon, አረፍተህ is evening. The ending changes. Let's practice them all in a mini role-play. Luna: Ooh, let's do it. Lucas: I'll be a friend you bump into. Suppose it's morning. I say ሰላም, እንደምን አደርክ? Luna: ሰላም, እንደምን አደርክ? Wait, I repeat? Lucas: Yes, you can say it back. Or you can just say ሰላም. But let's try the full phrase. So: ሰላም, እንደምን አደርክ. Luna: ሰላም, እንደምን አደርክ. That feels natural. Lucas: Now afternoon. I say እንደምን አረፍ? Luna: እንደምን አረፍ? Or do I say ሰላም first? Lucas: Either works. Let's do ሰላም, እንደምን አረፍ. Luna: ሰላም, እንደምን አረፍ. Lucas: Great. And evening: እንደምን አረፍተህ? Luna: ሰላም, እንደምን አረፍተህ. Lucas: Excellent! You've got all four. Let's do a quick quiz.
