- Jaba: Hello everybody and welcome back to the Scout and the Speculator podcast. This is Will Jarvis, also known as Jabba Cards, joined as always by my co-host and confidant Jeremy Brown of Perfect Game Baseball, more importantly known as JGB underscore cards underscore. Today we're here, we're recording our three weekly 2026 Bowman Chrome price check-ins. we'll probably do this for two more weeks or until the market really just seems to be settling. I will say it really seems to be kind of hitting market efficiency. A lot of guys are kind of leveling out and sitting around where you'd imagine their true values will be. Jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: few guys are actually bouncing back and rubber banding back up. So yeah, let's get into it. Jeremy, we both have the DSL list in front of us. Any of these Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: any of these guys price movements stand out to you? Jheremy: not a whole lot, honestly. Kind of still lining up exactly how's how we would thought would have thought it to have been. Luis Fernandez still holding on at number one. Obviously, he's a redemption. 127.10 is your average at the end of week four, where Francisco Renteria is at second, with the only other three digit base auto average at 109.94. I do think his base autos are a little more short printed than others, only back trick. Jaba: Definitely. Jheremy: Only been transacted sixty seven times. But I do feel like you can also find him almost sub a hundred dollars now if you look hard enough. Where Anjobel Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: Gomez, I don't think he's at third at eighty nine sixty. I just that might be one where comps haven't quite caught up yet because he did make his AFL debut. I think he's the youngest player ever or in quite some time to have gotten a hit in the AFL, so he Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: Definitely has gotten the headlines like we thought he would once we saw that he was named to the AFL. So those your top three. Then as you kind of go down the list, we talked about the Brewers combo, kind of getting the two for one with Frontado compared to a money's. But you go up and down this list, it's a lot of the names you want to know, want to have, and it seems like they've kind of found their settling point. And I'll let you talk about it a little bit more. But like I'm skipping all the way down to Samil Serrano, who is 1999. This past week he was 1960. Probably safe to say he's going to hover right there around that $20 mark. Whereas you have somebody like a Jidar Suarez, who actually saw a $2 increase with jumping from $1572 to $1773. Again, this is all just based on averages. Maybe he had less transacted over the last week, but still good to see with Suarez. not to be forgotten as the quote unquote second royal in this product. what what about you? What's standing out here? Actually the one other thing I'm gonna just jump on quick is the amount of times Juan Torres has had sales at two hundred and forty-two. Him and Santiago Salarte at two thirty-three are two like big name like big numbers that kind of jump out. Jaba: Yeah, I think the first thing that stands out to me, I mean, we the whole way we've kinda talked about it right, is you have your big three and then there's call it twelve to fifteen guys. The list we're looking at is sixteen guys total, so The big three and then kinda thirteen guys in that second tier, you know, you can kinda rank however you want. And up through last week it was like the big three and then Wandy Asseon and then a huge Jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: jump down and then the remaining guys. ASEAN really seems to have smoothed out. I mean, he w he started at 143. Obviously, you're not going to read into that. Went down to 63. Week over week, week three, he only went down to fifty-seven forty-seven when a lot of other guys, you know, kind of continued to free fall. Jheremy: Almost half. Yeah. Jaba: But He he had it this week. He's down to thirty-four sixty and he's the fourth most expensive guy here. you know, you got a scene at thirty-four sixty, you got monies at thirty-one ninety-seven. And then other than that I mean, I guess Colombia is twenty-six thirty-five. So you have your kind of next three guys between that twenty-six to thirty-five range. And then that's when you get into our remaining ten guys who are all somewhere between fourteen dollars and twenty dollars. Jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: save for Manuel Bolivar, who's at nine seventy. But I think he's kind of probably the most volatile guy on this list, Jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: just in terms of, you know, he wasn't ranked on pipeline. He got a huge bonus, but he strikes out a ton, but he has huge raw power. I think, you know, there's a reason why he's the cheapest one here, but that's not to say he's, you know, not an intriguing guy in his own right. I think you know, Ellian Rosario has kind of been up and down. You know, he started at 12, spiked to 15, then 16, and now he's back just under 14. I think a lot of people were scrambling after release because he was one of the forgotten guys in that. Jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: That tier of names we like. people kind of scrambled and now he's cooled off once again. But yeah, so many of these guys are right there in that 17 to 20 dollar range. I think, you know, as we discussed yesterday, Frontado being fourteen ninety seven while Money's is basically thirty-two is interesting. I think you know money money's is probably the better prospect, but it's not not a two X difference, and I think Frontado should. make up some ground. I don't know if he will, but yeah, then you got, you know, your Joni L. Solarte, Jyre Suarez, Samil Serrano, all those guys just shy of 20. And I think it's, you know, kind of just a safe bet. Like if you're on Whatnot and you see any of those second tier names, I I think, you know, at this point in time you should say, okay, well, true values, anything up to 20, and if I'm getting it for 15 and below, it's a good deal. I think it's nice to kind of finally have ability to set guardrails on yourself. You know, if you're bidding on these guys and you don't have data in front of you, it's kind of nice to Jheremy: Exactly. Jaba: be able to think, okay, well this guy's in that glob of second tier names. You know, he's gonna be worth between fifteen and twenty. I mean some of them are a few bucks above, some of them are a few bucks below. But I mean I'd buy Elian Rosario at fifteen bucks, even though he's a little lower than that. Samil Serrano, I'd be jumping up and down to get him at fifteen bucks. So I think the big takeaway this week is that, you know, your tier two guys if Jheremy: Yeah, I think that's a good way to put it is and I've talked to you about like a strategy for myself of just kind of starting to gobble up some of these base autos now. Jaba: Yep. Jheremy: didn't not actively pursue them still, like whoops, drop Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: something. Not pursuing them, but if it makes sense if you're in a room, if somebody has them and is running them and you already cracked shipping and you can get them for fifteen, seventeen bucks, like absolutely Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: go for it. Like don't I don't think you're gonna see much more of a fallout for these guys. Like sure, you might get like a Joni L listed at fifteen bucks, buy it now. With like PWE or like a rookie money's might pop at twenty-two or you know, there's always something with an outlier. Jaba: Right. Jheremy: And if you're buying them, say nineteen bucks online, if somebody can get to you for fifteen bucks offline, like it's worth it, especially if you're getting Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: PWE ship. or if you whatever, whatever it might be. take that couple bucks off. Just start stashing holding I mean, we could probably have pulled a list similar from the last couple years release, and guess what? There's Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: gonna be some absolute duds on that list that we were chasing that we all said, let's stash. It happens. That's that's the name of the game when it comes to Bowman Chrome. We'll Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: look back on this list in a year from now and be like, huh. We really went after this kid, huh? And he's batting like a buck ninety-two in the complex or something. Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: But that is what it is. You could also have gone back to last year's list, saw that fifteen dollars And right next to it was Juniker Caceres. Twenty five dollars, twenty dollars was Kevin Alvarez. So there are some dart throws, but if you make educated dart throws as best you can, by all means there is value to be had right now, especially just looking. I'm looking at Joni L down right now on our list. So numbers eight to sixteen, like there are some guys that without a doubt will be doubled up, tripled up in value come this time next year. Jaba: Yeah, and you you took the words right out of my mouth. I mean the next thing I was gonna say Is you know, we're gonna look back at this and those twelve guys around twenty bucks. Half of them are gonna suck next year and we're gonna be like, wow, that's crazy. But, you know, three or four of these guys, I can guarantee you will be fifty plus dollar autos. And, you know, outside of looking at what's publicly available, you know, even I I mean, not that you and I are in the same player evaluation tier, but there's just only so much we can work off of right now, and we're just not gonna know really who's who until baseball kicks off again. Again next year. Jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: But I will say, you know, when you were saying that, I was trying to come up with a new point, and I think It's interesting with Bowman Chrome because usually with Bowman and Bowman draft, I don't like having small positions in a lot of guys. I like, you know, in draft it's like I'll pick five or six guys and just go nuts on them. But with that, you know, you have so much more data, especially for like college guys, where you know, most of these programs have like track men and all that stuff. Like Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: you have a lot more stats against real competition. You know, you you just kinda know what a guy is and And obviously you can still hit or miss pretty easily. I mean, I was buying Sean Gamble last year. I knew it was risky, but I I didn't think it was that risky. But, you know, same thing with Bowman. It's like, you know, I really I loved Florentino. I still do. I don't regret that. You know, Jheremy: No. Jaba: twenty-six Bowman, I I I went big on probably four or five guys. But I do think Bowman Chrome is the opposite. And I I think while you should obviously have your favorites and, you know, load up on some guys more than others, I do think if you're saying, Okay, I'm picking two of these twelve names to load up on, I think you're taking a pretty big risk. And I think if there's a release where it's better to have, you know, a good bit of everyone versus, Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: you know, loading up on two guys because it's so volatile. We don't know. Like I said, I mean half these guys next year are gonna be, you know, five dollar autos. And, you know, a few of them are gonna be fifty, sixty. And you can only research so much, right? I mean you ha you have hunches. I mean you look at like I don't know. I I mean I'm looking at like Juan Torres and it's like he's older, but his profile is a lot safer even if it isn't super sexy. I mean he was a DSL repeater, he's a second baseman. We don't like either of those things. But I'm hoping that, you know, he skips the complex next year. He's just kind of a high floor guy. but you know, Santiago Jheremy: Yep. And he gets an extra bit of Jaba: Solarte and Samil Serrano, one of those guys is probably not gonna make it out of high A. we have bought both of them. It's just like that's like the toolsy athlete profile with some swing and miss where it's like we just don't know kinda who's gonna separate right now. so yeah, I think it's important to not go too deep on anyone, just kinda with the assumption that, you know, nobody really knows. And I I don't really think you can beat the market outside of, you know, covering your bases and, you know, doing your research. Jheremy: Yeah. No, I mean and I was gonna say with Serrano or Juan Torres rather you get that Yankees runway too, right? Where I mean Roderick Arius has life again, so you get a little extra runway when you Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: have the Yankee uniform on as well. So Jaba: Yeah. Like R Richard Maddox is he's still nineteen, which is funny. But, you know, he's just kind of been puttering around, you know, he did the DSL twice. He was a monster in his second DSL year, struck out a lot. This year he goes to the complex, puts up an eight thirty OPS. You know, it's it's fine, it just is what it is. But like that's not a guy that I'm like looking to actively buy. But even still, let's see, we're using prospect pulse here to pull up his base autos. Yeah, he's still going for fifteen bucks. Juan Torres Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: is like seventeen bucks right now. It's like he he can go to the complex next year. I'm hoping they get aggressive and put him in single A. But he can go to the complex and just kinda putts around and he's really not gonna he's not gonna move. So, you know, just thinking of floors and kind of what is safe, I think, you know, Bowman Chrome is kind of the one where you take the layups. Jheremy: Yeah. Been like who are the guys we gravitated to, honestly, within this product that we think are like cheaper buys. Anthony Martinez, college kid, AOA, college kid, Brandon Clark, college kid, been in the pros forever. Our Genis Kayama already has been in the pros for over a year. So you have that track record. I'm just literally looking at the cards in front of me. Like I bought a Miguel Mendez, has track record. Christian Sazueta has a track record. Like a lot of these guys, we kind of buy what we're we're comfortable in knowing and that's having statistical information behind it because nobody likes to waste money. Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: But and I mean yes, the DSL guys do as well, but they're not facing what you're seeing in A Ball or Hay A with some of these guys. All that to be said of try to trust your evaluation. Trust if you don't trust yourself, tr find people you do trust and believe in what they say that have a track record of being right and not just throwing a bunch of stuff at the wall. Picking out that one that actually Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: ended up hitting and being like, see, I told ya. Because well, what about the eighteen other guys from that release you were wrong on? Like hitting one out of twenty isn't a good thing. So just be Jaba: Yeah. Jheremy: just be confident and know who you're pulling your info from at all times, I guess. Jaba: Yeah, and the I I think the last thing I'll say here and it kinda segues right into our next episode, which is gonna be the older hitters. But like you said, you know, you're kinda just rattling off the names in front of you. I mean, I like these DSL guys. I think it's fun. I've bought a good bit of you know, a good amount of them. But, you know, looking at the names in front of me, it's like the delises, the low rays, the azucars, you know, where you have the benefit of another year or two of like full season stats and full season data and people like, you know, being able to physically lay eyes on them while, you know, ev even like Anjou Gomez, like obviously he's like the most exciting guy in the product. But like we've said before, like if he goes out next year or in two years and puts up like Indy Azica or delase numbers, like we're really happy with that. So I think, you know, even if those guys, and we're gonna talk about them more coming up, aren't has you know, you're not hearing all like the big flashy words associated with them as much as the DSL guys where you can really get carried away you know, describing I just think this is one where it's like the more data you have, the easier you can make a decision. Now with some of the older guys, and I'm not saying like, you know, Austin Overn who's like my age, you know, I just like the the comfort of having an extra year or two of full season data because I just think it's a lot harder to go wrong. You still will go wrong, but at a lower rate for sure. Jheremy: Right. Yeah. Jaba: All right. Yep. Well that that wraps up this one. We got a lot more content coming today. We're really cooking today. And I do wanna say before we sign off, our listening statistics have really blown up in the past week and that's just very exciting for the both of us. You know, Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: we're we're thrilled, we're having a blast doing this. I mean it's genuinely like the highlight of my day, Jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: which is maybe a little sad. But, you know, we're just pumping these out and we couldn't do it without you guys and you know, if the listens weren't you know, if they were stagnating, I'm not sure, you know, how long we were gonna forge ahead. Probably longer than we should have. But now Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: it's like, okay, we're looking at the numbers and it's like, okay, this is going well and you know, we're really excited. So thanks to everybody who listens. Thanks to everyone who sent either of us a supportive message. You know, they do mean the world to us. And yeah, we're just gonna keep doing our thing. And if there's anything you want us to talk about, don't be a stranger. We do this for you guys and you know it's still a fairly small listener base. So you guys are the people we want to kind of help out and address the most. So with that being said, thanks again and let's go Mets
