- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com. Now here's your host,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Na's A Chope. Welcome to another edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:13Speaker 1: The Seahawks beating the Panthers twenty seven to ten, setting
- 0:17Speaker 1: up a showdown.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 0:18Speaker 1: We've all been waiting for it. But before we get
- 0:19Speaker 1: to San Francisco, where it's been all week getting ready
- 0:21Speaker 1: for that matchup, we're gonna talking about what happened yesterday,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Seahawks beating the Panthers, and yeah, bump it was a
- 0:26Speaker 1: slow start. We've seen this kind of script multiple times
- 0:29Speaker 1: this year where the Seahawk didn't like the world on
- 0:31Speaker 1: firing in the first half, get it done in the
- 0:32Speaker 1: second half to a big victory. Six consecutive victory. A
- 0:36Speaker 1: couple of things off top. Seahawks are nineteen and five
- 0:38Speaker 1: in the last twenty four games, which is first in
- 0:40Speaker 1: the NFL, tied a single season franchise record with thirteen wins,
- 0:44Speaker 1: tied a franchise record with seven consecutive road wins. They
- 0:46Speaker 1: have not allowed one hundred yard rusher in twenty five
- 0:49Speaker 1: consecutive games, most in the NFL. And a franchise record.
- 0:52Speaker 1: So bump, things are good right now, baby.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Things are rolling.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Man, all those numbers you just put out there, Lets
- 0:57Speaker 3: you know that Mike McDonald, John Snyder and the rest
- 0:59Speaker 3: of the gang, they have a philosophy and an approach
- 1:02Speaker 3: and it is working. What does it you say? The
- 1:04Speaker 3: saying that that you like.
- 1:05Speaker 1: From relentless, decisive shocking?
- 1:07Speaker 2: There we go. That's that right there.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, you're running out of words and we're
- 1:13Speaker 1: right where we wanted to be. I've been speaking this
- 1:15Speaker 1: in fruition from the week one. You can check the tape, yep.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I've been saying this from the first forty nine game
- 1:19Speaker 1: throughout the year, trying to manifest it. Well, the Seahawks
- 1:22Speaker 1: are there. They're in position to get that one seed,
- 1:24Speaker 1: win the division, everything on the line. But the Seahawks
- 1:27Speaker 1: did have a great game in Carolina. Let's get into that.
- 1:29Speaker 3: What had happened, See what happened was what had happened
- 1:34Speaker 3: at first?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Was what had happened was on Hawk Talk, This game,
- 1:39Speaker 1: like we've i just mentioned earlier, has been a tail
- 1:41Speaker 1: two hats. We've seen that much of this year the Seahawks.
- 1:44Speaker 1: This game started a little bit defensive battle three punts
- 1:46Speaker 1: to start the game. The Hawks would then get on
- 1:47Speaker 1: the board with a nine play forty yard drive that
- 1:49Speaker 1: ended with a forty eight yard field goal for Jason Myers.
- 1:52Speaker 1: That mean to score three zero. Then both teams would
- 1:54Speaker 1: punt on the next two drive before the Seahawks will
- 1:56Speaker 1: force a turnover on downs. After Panthers will go eleven
- 1:59Speaker 1: plays thirty six yard drive but would get stopped short
- 2:01Speaker 1: on fourth down.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Now Carolina would force a fumble Sam Donald's pass attempt
- 2:05Speaker 3: on the next drive. Then they would get three points
- 2:08Speaker 3: after going just nine yards, easy score for them.
- 2:10Speaker 2: That made the score three to three.
- 2:12Speaker 3: The Hawks would turn the ball over on downs on
- 2:14Speaker 3: then suing drive after Sam Donald was stopped on a
- 2:17Speaker 3: QB sneak, which I thought, yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Look like you got that one.
- 2:20Speaker 3: That was a tough spot, but that would they were
- 2:22Speaker 3: going to the tunnel ty three to three.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Exciting game so far, three to three, I.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Mean, I kind of feeling this is gonna be the game.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Ten am started on the road. Carolina's good football team.
- 2:31Speaker 1: We were up and down, incredibly inconsistent, but when they're good,
- 2:34Speaker 1: they were great. And then they battled to start that
- 2:36Speaker 1: game and the Seahawks promising drive to start the second half.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Youck thinking, okay, they story to get things going. That
- 2:41Speaker 1: ends in disaster. Sam Donald's intercepted by former Seahawks Mike
- 2:44Speaker 1: Jackson in the back of the end zone and a
- 2:45Speaker 1: pass intended for JSN.
- 2:47Speaker 3: But the Seahawks defense would come a big on the
- 2:49Speaker 3: next play DeMarcus Lawrence. If you watch the film, he
- 2:53Speaker 3: gets too far off Phiel running back, runs by him,
- 2:56Speaker 3: turns around and just punches the ball out with precisions
- 3:00Speaker 3: and Hubbard dropped that famous Six plays later, the Seahawks
- 3:03Speaker 3: find the end zone with a two yard touchdown by
- 3:05Speaker 3: Zach Sharbone that made the score ten to three. On
- 3:08Speaker 3: the next possession, the Seahawks defense will come up big again.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Jay love Man dropping and held.
- 3:12Speaker 3: A flat reading the eyes with an interception and you
- 3:16Speaker 3: start to feel things start to roll.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, this defense is the spark plug for this comeback
- 3:21Speaker 1: or this turnaround this game. Other games has been a
- 3:23Speaker 1: special team. Sometimes it's been the offense. On Sunday, it
- 3:25Speaker 1: was a defense jump starting and going back to d
- 3:27Speaker 1: law that's teach tape. Yeah, okay, you might have got
- 3:30Speaker 1: a minus on the first part of the play. But
- 3:31Speaker 1: you finished it. The finish was definitely a plus plus
- 3:34Speaker 1: doing his thing, Jay lev those turnovers setting things up
- 3:37Speaker 1: after that, we'll break down that play about Julian Love
- 3:39Speaker 1: a little bit later. Seahawks capitalized four plays later with
- 3:42Speaker 1: a seventeen yard touchdown reception by a J. Barner who's
- 3:44Speaker 1: having a career year love AJ Barner everything he's doing.
- 3:47Speaker 3: That made the score seventeen to three. And now the Panthers,
- 3:50Speaker 3: they will respond with their best drive of the day.
- 3:52Speaker 3: They go thirteen plays, sixty nine yards anyway, a ten
- 3:55Speaker 3: yard touchdown scramble from Bryce Young that made the score
- 3:58Speaker 3: seventeen to ten. This he also to answer, what fourteen
- 4:00Speaker 3: play fifty five yard drive that lasted eight minutes anyway,
- 4:03Speaker 3: the Jason myersfield will extending the lead to ten.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Seahawks will put a bow on this thing though, force
- 4:09Speaker 1: another turnover on downs with a five play twenty five
- 4:11Speaker 1: yard drive any with a one yeard touchdown round by
- 4:13Speaker 1: Zach Scharbaday. That's what he does. He makes touchdowns in
- 4:15Speaker 1: the end zone. That made the score twenty seven to ten.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And that was all she wrote. Wasn't the prettiest win.
- 4:21Speaker 1: We'll say that until it doesn't matter though. Seventeen point
- 4:23Speaker 1: victory in the NFL and setting up everything you need
- 4:26Speaker 1: to play for.
- 4:27Speaker 3: To me, it was a pretty win. It's just different
- 4:29Speaker 3: kind of pretty, you know what I mean. The defense
- 4:31Speaker 3: has been It's crazy because the offense the eighth scoring
- 4:35Speaker 3: offense or overall offense second when it comes to scoring.
- 4:37Speaker 3: But the defense, I feel like, is the identity of
- 4:39Speaker 3: this football team. So if you're a defensive guy, you
- 4:41Speaker 3: look at this game and say, yeah, actually, it was
- 4:44Speaker 3: sixteen passing yards in the first half. Come, I've never
- 4:46Speaker 3: seen that before. I've never seen that. I coached JV
- 4:48Speaker 3: football at one point, I've never seen sixteen passing yards
- 4:52Speaker 3: in the in the first half.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You can fall into sixteen yards over the game. I mean,
- 4:56Speaker 1: it's insane. And you're right. And the Seahawks, while it
- 4:59Speaker 1: was a slow start offense, they ended up scoring on
- 5:01Speaker 1: four straight possessions because of this defense you've mentioned. It's
- 5:04Speaker 1: really simple. Beats the forty nine ers next week. You're
- 5:06Speaker 1: not only winning the West, you're not only the number
- 5:09Speaker 1: one seed, but you also get a first run by
- 5:10Speaker 1: So everything is in front of you. Things are as
- 5:12Speaker 1: good as they've been, and I'm excited Man, I'm excited.
- 5:15Speaker 1: There's a lot on the line bump After watching the game,
- 5:18Speaker 1: is there anything different that you learned about this team
- 5:20Speaker 1: at this point? We've seen in a lot of football,
- 5:22Speaker 1: this twenty twenty five version. Was there anything else that
- 5:24Speaker 1: you could have learned from that game on Sunday?
- 5:26Speaker 3: I learned that the linemen are taking a step forward.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I also learned that Josh Jones will hustle his butt off. Man,
- 5:32Speaker 3: there was a run that Zach Scharvion ain't made. He's
- 5:35Speaker 3: on the left side, it's his own right. He hustles
- 5:38Speaker 3: all the way to the right side, past the wide receivers,
- 5:41Speaker 3: clips a guy that helped Zach sharbon it gets It's
- 5:43Speaker 3: just the effort that I saw from this office in
- 5:46Speaker 3: line like they're getting better. The offensive line is getting better.
- 5:48Speaker 3: So I learned that there's still room to grow. And
- 5:50Speaker 3: we got one more week left in the regular season. Yeah,
- 5:53Speaker 3: that's building off of what we saw in the Rams game.
- 5:54Speaker 3: That first play, I believe was that screen where Greys
- 5:56Speaker 3: Abels getting out there running.
- 5:58Speaker 1: These guys are running to the football. This team just again,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I don't know if I've learned it. It's just confirming
- 6:02Speaker 1: in at this point. Yeah, they can win in all
- 6:04Speaker 1: three phases of the game. Those translate to teams that
- 6:07Speaker 1: do big things in January. If you don't have your
- 6:09Speaker 1: fastball in this side, someone picks each other up. That's
- 6:11Speaker 1: what happens. Hopefully you know you lose Rashi Shahid, that's
- 6:14Speaker 1: a big bummer. Even if he doesn't play against forty
- 6:16Speaker 1: nine ers. Other people are stepping up helping things go
- 6:19Speaker 1: and uh yeah, so it was a fun game there
- 6:21Speaker 1: On Sunday. Let's get into playmakers. A lot of people
- 6:23Speaker 1: making plays. Touchdom playmakers to down what time it is? Ho, wait,
- 6:34Speaker 1: can Zach Sharbney? Crazy thing about this team. You never
- 6:39Speaker 1: know which running back's gonna go off on a given day,
- 6:41Speaker 1: as it can. This week is Zach? The next week?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Back and forth. It was Zach's turn on Sunday, eighteen
- 6:46Speaker 1: carries for one hundred and ten yards to touchdown, just
- 6:48Speaker 1: a second hundred yard game of his career in the
- 6:50Speaker 1: first since Week fourteen against Arizona last season. Sharbonney also
- 6:54Speaker 1: became the first Seahawks player since Mars Shawn Lynch twenty
- 6:57Speaker 1: fourteen to record double digit rushing touchdown in the season.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Anytime you're on the list with Marshon Lynch. You're doing
- 7:02Speaker 1: good things. So good to see Zach Charbonnet have a
- 7:04Speaker 1: day that he did.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, Man eleven had two big runs of twenty plus
- 7:08Speaker 3: out there. Really move the ball, got things going big
- 7:11Speaker 3: up to the old line too.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Man.
- 7:12Speaker 3: They were creating lanes for this young man, but he
- 7:14Speaker 3: was doing it. JSN had himself another good day. Nine reception,
- 7:18Speaker 3: seventy two yards. He became the third player in NFL
- 7:21Speaker 3: history with twenty three that's twenty three years or younger
- 7:24Speaker 3: with at least seventeen hundred receiving yards in a single season,
- 7:26Speaker 3: joining Isaac Bruce and Justin Jefferson. He didn't have the
- 7:30Speaker 3: crazy numbers, but he still made several clutch catches in
- 7:33Speaker 3: the second half and even drew up an important face
- 7:35Speaker 3: mass should have two face masks, Yeah, we got one
- 7:38Speaker 3: that is senator drives and helped the Seahogs go up
- 7:40Speaker 3: two scores on the fourth quarter.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Solid day by the best in the game.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Yeah, doing what he does. Nothing nothing, We haven't seen nothing,
- 7:46Speaker 1: rock see moving in the future. Been our quarterback. Sam
- 7:48Speaker 1: Darnold eighteen to twenty seven, one hundred and forty seven yards,
- 7:51Speaker 1: one touchdown, win, interception. Not his best game statistically, but
- 7:55Speaker 1: made some big throws down the stretch of the end
- 7:56Speaker 1: of the game, and he's he's just playing consistent when
- 7:59Speaker 1: he's confident and he's ripped the ball in there and
- 8:00Speaker 1: he's standing there under pressure. That's exactly what you need
- 8:02Speaker 1: to see from Sam. He does not need to throw
- 8:04Speaker 1: for four hundred yards fort win the football game. He
- 8:06Speaker 1: does need to take care of the football and do
- 8:08Speaker 1: what has been doing the second half of these games.
- 8:09Speaker 1: So love what we're seeing from him there.
- 8:11Speaker 3: We had a segment and the question is Sam Darnold
- 8:15Speaker 3: is blank? And I said, good enough, good enough for
- 8:18Speaker 3: this team to do everything that they want to do.
- 8:21Speaker 3: So keep playing solid. Sam got Aj Barner three receptions
- 8:24Speaker 3: for forty three yards, one touchdown and one barn Stump.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Love to see him. He's already set career highs in
- 8:29Speaker 3: receptions with fifty yards five O five and.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Touchdowns with six.
- 8:33Speaker 3: He is slowly becoming one of the better tight ends
- 8:36Speaker 3: in the game. And I think that maybe if he
- 8:38Speaker 3: was in a different offense where the tight ends were
- 8:40Speaker 3: the focal point, his numbers would be even higher than this.
- 8:43Speaker 3: But I love the progression from Aj barn and he
- 8:46Speaker 3: brings an attitude in the swag to this team that
- 8:49Speaker 3: no one else does. Everyone has their own thing, all right,
- 8:50Speaker 3: Jason has a swag, but his is a bit different.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I love it, yeah, no, and it's right off top.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I think if you look back at Aj Barter is
- 8:56Speaker 1: miked up from week one, look back at it. Our
- 8:59Speaker 1: team does a great job editing that thing. But he's like, hey,
- 9:01Speaker 1: welcome to the barn show. Welcome to the bleeping show.
- 9:03Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. And he just has that
- 9:04Speaker 1: swag and he's had it from day one, and it's
- 9:06Speaker 1: infectious in that tight end room. So bubble received from
- 9:09Speaker 1: Aj Barner there. Then Jay Love Man of the Year nominee,
- 9:13Speaker 1: doing his thing on and off the field on Sunday.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Six tackles, one interception, one pass defended, his first interception
- 9:19Speaker 1: of twenty twenty five. We're gonna break down that plane
- 9:21Speaker 1: a little bit. But Jay Love, again, he's so valuable
- 9:24Speaker 1: to this defense. He's an e racer, he's someone you
- 9:26Speaker 1: can trust. He's one of the smartest football players Sehawks
- 9:28Speaker 1: have on the defensive side of the ball, which is
- 9:30Speaker 1: saying a lot considering the guys in that room. So
- 9:32Speaker 1: when he's playing like that and he hasn't had a
- 9:34Speaker 1: lot of work. I think I mentioned you at halftime.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I'm like, we haven't heard twenty's name very often because
- 9:38Speaker 1: they weren't challenging him. I meanoo, they had sixteen yorks
- 9:40Speaker 1: passing in the third quarters. Yeah, doing some good things.
- 9:42Speaker 3: He did his he did is Kobe Bryant last game
- 9:46Speaker 3: because usually Jay Love is the one over the top, right,
- 9:49Speaker 3: you walk Kobe down into the box. With Kobe being out,
- 9:51Speaker 3: they say, you know, I just put Akata over the top,
- 9:53Speaker 3: bring Jay Love down, and he's been causing having man.
- 9:56Speaker 3: You got DeMarcus Lawrence six tackles, one sack, one TfL
- 9:59Speaker 3: one quarterback. Kid, he might be having a low key
- 10:01Speaker 3: in all pro type of season. We already know he's
- 10:03Speaker 3: a pro bowler, but he might be having all pro
- 10:05Speaker 3: type of season. He's been in this league over a
- 10:07Speaker 3: decade and he's still playing like a young man out there.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Oh, no question about it. I think if you look,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I think if you pulled offensive lineman throughout the league,
- 10:14Speaker 1: they would say, yeah, Zero is a dog.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Yeah he's a dog. The defense as a whole healthy
- 10:18Speaker 3: Panthers ten points. They were one for eleven or third downs,
- 10:21Speaker 3: one hundred and thirty nine total yards, two point seventy
- 10:24Speaker 3: yards per play, ridiculous one point five yards per pass held.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Brice Young to have fifty four passing yards three point
- 10:31Speaker 3: eight yards per carry on the ground forced two clutch
- 10:33Speaker 3: turnovers changed the game.
- 10:35Speaker 2: The longest play for the Panthers was eleven yards.
- 10:38Speaker 1: That is insane.
- 10:39Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I don't care who you are playing. Yeah, and I
- 10:42Speaker 1: just want to set the record straight about this real
- 10:43Speaker 1: quick though. So a lot of people like, wow, that's
- 10:45Speaker 1: not that impressive. You're just playing the Carolina Panthers. Beyond
- 10:48Speaker 1: the fact that they're an NFL team and they've beaten
- 10:50Speaker 1: the Rams and they've done some good things. Let me
- 10:52Speaker 1: let's talk about that Rams game they had. I just
- 10:54Speaker 1: I just looked this up right before it came in
- 10:55Speaker 1: here for context. Against the Rams. We think they have
- 10:57Speaker 1: pretty good defense, some good players. They had three hundred
- 11:01Speaker 1: and fifty eight total yards against the Rams, one hundred
- 11:03Speaker 1: and ninety four passing, one hundred and sixty four rushing.
- 11:05Speaker 1: They're seven and fifteen on third down. They averaged five
- 11:08Speaker 1: point eight yards of play, eight point eight yards per pass,
- 11:11Speaker 1: four point one yards per rush. They had plays of
- 11:14Speaker 1: forty three, thirty five, thirty three, and thirteen. They had
- 11:17Speaker 1: run plays of twenty four, seventeen and ten. That was
- 11:20Speaker 1: against the Rams. So this wasn't just something where like, no,
- 11:23Speaker 1: the Panthers are a bad team, blah blah blah, they're
- 11:25Speaker 1: got probably going to be a playoff team. Yeah, and
- 11:27Speaker 1: they did their thing against a really good Rams team.
- 11:30Speaker 1: That just more respect what the Seahawks are doing.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, thank you for for clarifying that. Yeah,
- 11:34Speaker 3: you know, I decided to get that off my chest.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I got you.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I gotta talk about these receivers wide receive a round up.
- 11:38Speaker 3: We got JSM with nine catches for seventy two. AJ
- 11:42Speaker 3: Berner had three for forty three in a touchdown. Zach
- 11:44Speaker 3: Sharpne had two for twelve or she'd had a reception.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Cooper Cup had a reception. The things that Cooper Cup
- 11:49Speaker 3: is doing without the football is going unnoticed and it
- 11:53Speaker 3: shouldn't be. He's a real dog out there. Kanon had
- 11:56Speaker 3: two as well. Overall one hundred and forty seven yards
- 11:58Speaker 3: in one touchdown for that group.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, you mentioned it. Everyone's doing their part and doesn't
- 12:04Speaker 1: always look you know, the most in terms of receiving yards,
- 12:07Speaker 1: but everyone doing their thing. Level we're seeing from that unit.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Let's little it over it. What's become our favorite segment
- 12:12Speaker 1: plays of the game. I've been teasing it all show.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Julie Love intercepts Bryce Young in a third quarter.
- 12:18Speaker 5: Here's a third and four for Young. Out of the
- 12:21Speaker 5: shotgun Hubbard in the backfield. Young has time, gonna let
- 12:24Speaker 5: it fly, got.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Him man out there.
- 12:25Speaker 1: It's intercepted. Turning up feelings.
- 12:28Speaker 6: Julian Love forty five, forty down the far sidelines, thirty
- 12:31Speaker 6: knocked out of bounds, ball comes out.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I think he was out of bounds when he was hitting.
- 12:37Speaker 6: Cough the ball up the ball.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Something's on the ball today as nobody's able to hang
- 12:42Speaker 4: on to it. But it is gonna be Seahawks ball
- 12:44Speaker 4: after the pick and Seattle's gonna have the ball inside
- 12:48Speaker 4: the Carolina thirty. The second straight takeaway by the Seattle defense.
- 12:54Speaker 2: All right, well we got we got tyo Katta, we got
- 12:56Speaker 2: a one high safety. Look.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Jay Love has walked down into the box. It looks
- 12:59Speaker 3: like it's going to be turned into a cover three match.
- 13:02Speaker 3: You got Reek walling down at the bottom. He has
- 13:04Speaker 3: deep thirds turns into man, you got who's that corner
- 13:07Speaker 3: up top?
- 13:07Speaker 2: Over there?
- 13:09Speaker 3: Who is that spoon up top? Spoon up top? Right,
- 13:11Speaker 3: he turns into a cover three. He's turning to running,
- 13:13Speaker 3: but let's focus on Jay Love. So Jay Love has
- 13:15Speaker 3: a flat, has a flat area, and the running back
- 13:18Speaker 3: swings to the right side, so that makes him respect
- 13:20Speaker 3: that flat. He realized, look, the running back is not
- 13:22Speaker 3: going to go anywhere, So now I'm gonna look at
- 13:24Speaker 3: the eyes of the quarterback. Your slot receiver, I believe
- 13:27Speaker 3: that is uh Tedoro McMillan runs like a kind of
- 13:30Speaker 3: like a double move.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Right. He's expecting that that.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Route on the outside to clear the corner because he's
- 13:35Speaker 3: going vertically.
- 13:36Speaker 2: So he's thinking, all right, a little double move.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I'm gonna stutter then going to occupy the space in
- 13:40Speaker 3: between Spoon and Jay Love because that swing should occupy
- 13:44Speaker 3: Jay Love in the flat, which it does.
- 13:46Speaker 2: But Jay Love is a veteran. He gets his responsibilities, reads.
- 13:49Speaker 3: The eyes of the quarterback, and now seaball, get ball,
- 13:52Speaker 3: attack it out the air. He does exactly that simple
- 13:55Speaker 3: little cover three, but just a savvy move by a
- 13:58Speaker 3: veteran reading the eyes of a young quarder back.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah, this is teach tape for everyone doing it. First
- 14:02Speaker 1: of all, I love about Jay Love Boom. Look at
- 14:04Speaker 1: his first couple steps getting out to the flat. When
- 14:06Speaker 1: you talk about buzzing the flat or buzzing one or
- 14:08Speaker 1: whatever terminology use in your defense, that's how you get
- 14:11Speaker 1: out there. And like you said, he looks at the
- 14:12Speaker 1: running back. Okay, I can rally and make that play.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Jay Love's an eraser. He's a great tackler. He knows
- 14:17Speaker 1: he can make that play. But I'm gonna look at
- 14:19Speaker 1: the young quarterback. And McMillan runs almost like a delayed
- 14:22Speaker 1: wheel almost. He kind of tries to lull you to
- 14:25Speaker 1: sleep then a little. It's a great actually, I love
- 14:27Speaker 1: the concept. Yeah, but Jay Love just plays it better.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And everyone does their job on this play Week one.
- 14:31Speaker 1: On the backside, he's locked in, Nicki min Warri. He's
- 14:34Speaker 1: got the tight end. If he releases, everyone's doing their things,
- 14:36Speaker 1: Spoon says over the top of Jay Love again does
- 14:38Speaker 1: a great job finding work. His responsibility is a flat,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but he goes above and beyond and sinks gets depth.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Looks at the quarterback. Okay, if I have nothing there,
- 14:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna make a play. He does it. Reads a
- 14:48Speaker 1: qb rest is history twenty. That's why you are who
- 14:51Speaker 1: you are. Make him plays all right. Our next play
- 14:54Speaker 1: we're gonna look at. That was Sam Darnold finding a J.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Barner for a seventeen yard touchdown.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Walker back in playfake to him. Sam gets hit as
- 15:03Speaker 5: he throws. Paul is caught in your side barner. Five touchdown, Shayhawks.
- 15:09Speaker 6: Great job by Sam Darnald as he wheels around on
- 15:14Speaker 6: the bootleg right, Hada Man right there, was ready to
- 15:18Speaker 6: hit him, but he fires the ball to Barner down
- 15:20Speaker 6: near the ten yard line and Aj did the rest,
- 15:23Speaker 6: taking it in from seventeen out. The Seahawks capitalize on
- 15:27Speaker 6: the takeaway and make it sixteen to three.
- 15:31Speaker 3: So this is what happens when you run the ball
- 15:32Speaker 3: thirty plus times a game. The influence that it has
- 15:35Speaker 3: on the defense is crazy right here, and I love it.
- 15:38Speaker 3: This is a clear running formation, right, you got oots in,
- 15:41Speaker 3: you got Aj to the left, your sliding oops to
- 15:44Speaker 3: the left side. And this is probably the best playfake
- 15:47Speaker 3: I've seen from Sam Darnold. Like, the technique here is beautiful.
- 15:50Speaker 3: It's almost like Aaron Rodgers back in the hey day.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Then you look at the offensive line. You got Anthony
- 15:55Speaker 3: Bradford pulling. It tells the defense. You got Anthony Bradford pulling.
- 15:58Speaker 3: You got the full back take karity, and you got
- 16:01Speaker 3: Aj selling the block down. Everything says this is going
- 16:04Speaker 3: to be a run. He just look at the second level.
- 16:06Speaker 3: All the backers are flying up trying to make a play.
- 16:08Speaker 3: You're at the mesh to it. So now you're rolling
- 16:11Speaker 3: out to your right side. I think Sam Donald does
- 16:12Speaker 3: a good job handling that pressure. He was expecting that
- 16:14Speaker 3: end to be influenced by the run, but he wasn't.
- 16:16Speaker 3: So now you got to make some plays. Now let's
- 16:18Speaker 3: focus on Aj Barner. He blocks down, sells the run,
- 16:22Speaker 3: and now he has hits the flats right. Sam Donald
- 16:25Speaker 3: does a good job getting the football out. And let's
- 16:27Speaker 3: not forget Cooper Cup. These are the things that Cooper
- 16:30Speaker 3: Cup does right. I'm not getting the football, don't you worry.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I'm gonna take care of this block for you.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Aj. You go ahead and score a touchdown, I'm gonna
- 16:36Speaker 2: celebrate with you, Bump.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I don't took the words out of my mouth. I
- 16:40Speaker 1: think you couldn't have described it any better. That is,
- 16:43Speaker 1: without questioning the best playfake I've seen all year. I
- 16:45Speaker 1: watched that about twenty times, and I go, I'm looking
- 16:47Speaker 1: at the backers. Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I
- 16:49Speaker 1: see Bradford pull my tight end. My eyes go off
- 16:51Speaker 1: the tight end because he's blocking down. Even Cooper Cup's
- 16:54Speaker 1: first couple steps, he doesn't make it illegal block, but
- 16:56Speaker 1: he goes at the linebacker almost like he's gonna block.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Everything about this says run and I'm telling you that playfake.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I would teach that all day. Little that is unreal.
- 17:05Speaker 1: If your eyes are in the backfield, you're in trouble.
- 17:09Speaker 1: And then Donald, he said, does a great job. He's
- 17:10Speaker 1: got pressure in his face from the DN on that side.
- 17:12Speaker 1: They run a little boot kind of flood concept. You
- 17:15Speaker 1: have something short, some of the intermediate, something deep. Barner
- 17:18Speaker 1: and Cupp are wide open on this play, but you
- 17:20Speaker 1: find Barner, probably because Sam Donald has pressure there so
- 17:23Speaker 1: he gets it out right away. You find Barner there,
- 17:25Speaker 1: and you mentioned it, Cooper cut blocks. Jason is also
- 17:27Speaker 1: blocking in the back of the end zone. And now
- 17:29Speaker 1: who do you have left? The only person you can
- 17:31Speaker 1: make this play is a backside corner. That's Mike Jackson,
- 17:33Speaker 1: who flows over. But it's too late, Barnar gets going
- 17:36Speaker 1: on his horse, he's in the end zone, and then
- 17:38Speaker 1: we get our favorite celebration, a little barnstop action, and again,
- 17:42Speaker 1: everybody did their job. This is amazing. This is what
- 17:45Speaker 1: they need to replicate. And I don't care what the
- 17:47Speaker 1: numbers say. I don't care what analytics say. Bump when
- 17:50Speaker 1: you run the football that has influenced Maybe it doesn't
- 17:52Speaker 1: show up in some of the numbers, but I'm telling you,
- 17:54Speaker 1: if the Seahawks don't run the ball the way they do,
- 17:56Speaker 1: you are not influenced that way from the second level.
- 17:59Speaker 1: So great stuff. That's exactly what you want to see
- 18:02Speaker 1: from this Seahawk team. That sets up our favorite formation
- 18:05Speaker 1: in football, the victory formation.
- 18:08Speaker 6: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto the field and the
- 18:11Speaker 6: Vikings defense trutching out there knowing that one kneel down
- 18:17Speaker 6: and the Seahawks are gonna line the clock down.
- 18:19Speaker 4: And win this one.
- 18:20Speaker 1: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk Tail. Two halfs.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Like we said, the Seahogs come out and dominating that
- 18:27Speaker 1: third quarter, get things changed. Seahawks outscored the Panthers twenty
- 18:30Speaker 1: four to seven, and this game played out like lots
- 18:33Speaker 1: of games we've seen this year the Seahawks slow start
- 18:35Speaker 1: and its belts to you know what in the second
- 18:37Speaker 1: half because that's what the Seahawks team does. The defense
- 18:40Speaker 1: really turned the tide for two clutch turnovers. Offense took
- 18:44Speaker 1: advantage of that, scoring four straight possessions.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Yeah, there were no explosive plays, man. The defense took
- 18:49Speaker 3: care that. Longest pass play was eleven longest run was
- 18:51Speaker 3: eight yards. They took care of that. But that's what
- 18:54Speaker 3: they do, right, They've played out of their minds. They
- 18:57Speaker 3: it was a bounce back from the Rams, right. They
- 18:59Speaker 3: get them at five to eighty one against the Rams.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Franchise records still have big moments, but you want to
- 19:04Speaker 3: see a dominant performance like this following that performance with
- 19:07Speaker 3: the Rams. In the offense, they weren't amazing, but they
- 19:09Speaker 3: took advantage of short fields.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I believe they had a score of.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Twenty one yards twenty five something like that, and that's
- 19:15Speaker 3: what you're supposed to do defense, as Look, we give
- 19:16Speaker 3: you a short field, we need six points.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And then I love this one hundred yard rusher again,
- 19:21Speaker 1: Zach Sharberney. That's a second game in a row. The
- 19:23Speaker 1: seas about one hundred yard Rusher Bom. That has not
- 19:26Speaker 1: happened since Ken Walker closed out his rookie year with
- 19:28Speaker 1: three straight one hundredyard games in twenty twenty twenty two.
- 19:31Speaker 1: It's been a while. You want to stop turning the
- 19:33Speaker 1: ball over, but this Seahawks team has showed you each
- 19:37Speaker 1: and every week. And now, what else would you looking
- 19:40Speaker 1: for here?
- 19:40Speaker 2: Bom?
- 19:41Speaker 1: What else do you play for? But moments like this again,
- 19:42Speaker 1: San Francisco, coach.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Come on and it's all set up. You took care
- 19:45Speaker 3: of the I wouldn't call my little homies.
- 19:47Speaker 2: You know they're there.
- 19:48Speaker 3: They were a formidable opponents, but you took care of
- 19:51Speaker 3: them to get to this moment. Saturday Primetime Football, let's
- 19:54Speaker 3: get it.
- 19:55Speaker 1: It's gonna be real fun to see how'll taking on
- 19:57Speaker 1: the forty nine ers Saturday at five pm. It's gonna
- 20:01Speaker 1: be really fun. We're gonna break down everything you need
- 20:03Speaker 1: to know about the forty nine ers coming out later
- 20:05Speaker 1: this week. He's Michael Bumpas on Nassa Schoby. The Seahawks
- 20:08Speaker 1: beat the Carolina Panthers twenty seven to ten. This has
- 20:10Speaker 1: been hopp talk
