- 0:05Today we read The Poor Goose, story by Gil Munson.
- 0:12This is the story of a horse, a sheepdog and a goose.
- 0:17The three animals were chatting in a farmyard one morning. I'm bored, snorted the horse.
- 0:23Let's have a real start. Let's all dash from the farmyard to the barn at the end of the track.
- 0:30I know I will get there for you two, the sheepdog and the goose agreed.
- 0:38I'm the fastest animal ever born, said the horse to himself.
- 0:45I've got long strong legs and i know a
- 0:48shortcut across the mall the sheepdog
- 0:52is not as fast as i am and that poor goose has
- 0:55no chance of winning she is very silly
- 0:58if she thinks she can i'm the smartest
- 1:02sort of animal said the dog to himself and i have some former popcorns pal he
- 1:09will let me Hector lived in his cart when he transports his sacks of corn to
- 1:16the carton store in the barn.
- 1:19The horse is not as far as I am. That poor goose has no chance of winning.
- 1:25She's very silly if she thinks she can win.
- 1:28But the goose just ignored them. She flopped off her soft grey wings and didn't say anything at all.
- 1:36Off they went. The horse went across the moor, jumping the thorn bushes and the tree trunks.
- 1:43He looked to the left and looked to the right. I can't see the sheepdog,
- 1:48he snorted scornfully, and I can't see that silly goose. I must be winning.
- 1:55The sheepdog hit the lift and found a popcorn cart. He sat on a sack of corn,
- 2:03grinning to himself as the cart bumped along the track.
- 2:06He looked to the left and looked to the right. I can't see that horse, he barked importantly.
- 2:13And I can't see that silly goose. I must be winning.
- 2:17But the goose had the best plan of all. They may think him silly, she honked.
- 2:23But I have something the other two don't have. The goose won.
- 2:29Before she got to the barn door long before the horse or the sheep dog.
- 2:37After that, they didn't insult her anymore. Can you guess what the goose did? She flew!
- 2:44The end. Thank you for listening.
