- Lucas: Velkommen til Episode 120 af Learn Danish with Fexingo. Luna: Yeah, we're back! And I'm ready to learn more Danish. Lucas: Today we're going back to the library. Last time we learned how to borrow a book. Now let's ask for help finding a specific one. Luna: Oh, that's useful. I always get lost in libraries. Lucas: So today's first phrase is: Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog? Luna: Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog? That means 'Can you help me find a book?' Lucas: Exactly. Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog? Let's break it down: kan du — can you, hjælpe — help, mig — me, med at finde — with finding, en bog — a book. Luna: Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog. I like that. It flows. Lucas: It does. And if you're looking for something specific, you can say: Jeg leder efter en bestemt bog. Luna: Jeg leder efter en bestemt bog. 'I'm looking for a specific book.' Lucas: Right. Jeg leder efter en bestemt bog. Try it, Luna. Luna: Jeg leder efter en bestemt bog. Hmm, 'bestemt' is a bit tricky. Lucas: You got it. Bestemt means specific or certain. Now, if you want to ask where the children's books are, say: Hvor er børnebøgerne? Luna: Hvor er børnebøgerne? 'Where are the children's books?' Børnebøgerne — that's a long word. Lucas: It is. Børn means children, and bøger means books. Put them together: børnebøger. And then the definite plural -ne makes it børnebøgerne. Luna: So børnebøgerne means 'the children's books'. Got it. Lucas: Now imagine the librarian tells you: Den er på hylde tolv. Luna: Den er på hylde tolv. 'It's on shelf twelve.' Hylde is shelf. Lucas: Perfect. And if you need help searching, you can say: Må jeg få hjælp til at søge? Luna: Må jeg få hjælp til at søge? 'May I get help searching?' Lucas: Yes. Må jeg få hjælp til at søge? It's polite and useful. Luna: I like that. So if I'm lost, I can say Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog? or Jeg leder efter en bestemt bog. Lucas: Exactly. And then Hvor er børnebøgerne? if you need the kids' section. Luna: Right. And the librarian might say Den er på hylde tolv. Lucas: Or you can ask Må jeg få hjælp til at søge? if you need more assistance. Luna: These are all great. I can already imagine myself at a Danish library. Lucas: Before we practice more, if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Danish, honestly, if today's episode was worth a coffee to you, that's the link — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it really helps keep the show ad-free and going. We appreciate it. Lucas: So let's try a little scene. Imagine you're at the library and you say: Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog? Luna: Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog? Lucas: And the librarian says: Ja, hvilken bog leder du efter? Luna: Then I say: Jeg leder efter en bestemt bog. Lucas: Godt. And if it's a children's book, you might ask: Hvor er børnebøgerne? Luna: Hvor er børnebøgerne? Lucas: They say: Børnebøgerne er på hylde tolv. Luna: Den er på hylde tolv. Got it. Lucas: And if you still can't find it, say: Må jeg få hjælp til at søge? Luna: Må jeg få hjælp til at søge? That's a lifesaver. Lucas: Let's do a quick review. First phrase: Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog? Luna: Kan du hjælpe mig med at finde en bog. Lucas: Jeg leder efter en bestemt bog. Luna: Jeg leder efter en bestemt bog.
