- 0:23Speaker 1: I don't care here, what's doa? I used to right,
- 0:25Speaker 1: all right, we are back this week and we are
- 0:26Speaker 1: going to Louisiana. You hit your microphone cord?
- 0:30Speaker 2: Did everybody hear that?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Probably?
- 0:32Speaker 1: Okay, Sorry, we don't have time to go back and edit.
- 0:35Speaker 1: It's we're almost we're almost down.
- 0:37Speaker 3: To o'clock in the morning.
- 0:39Speaker 1: No, it's not two o'clock in the morning.
- 0:40Speaker 2: It feels like that though.
- 0:42Speaker 1: We are down to I used to when we first
- 0:45Speaker 1: started this, I used to try to edit, and we'd stop,
- 0:48Speaker 1: and then I'd we'd record everything, and then I go
- 0:50Speaker 1: back and listen to all and edit, and then I
- 0:52Speaker 1: try to use some sort of like software that would
- 0:54Speaker 1: take out the blanks and stuff if there were silences.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Now we're at the point where we're almost one take podcast.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We just I don't we don't worry about it. If
- 1:04Speaker 1: for the most part, no, I do not. What's wrong
- 1:09Speaker 1: with you? That has not happened anyways more. No, what
- 1:13Speaker 1: more happens is STU says something real stupid.
- 1:16Speaker 2: What that we got to go back.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I'm like, you're gonna get us canceled. We cannot say
- 1:24Speaker 1: you cannot say that. That's the only time.
- 1:26Speaker 3: So now there are no bloopers saved anywhere.
- 1:30Speaker 1: No, there're not. This is basically which is we're just
- 1:35Speaker 1: the what's that stream of conscious into the microphone. Anyways, Yes,
- 1:42Speaker 1: we're going to Louisiana. We're gonna do a short episode
- 1:44Speaker 1: on Derek Todd Lee, just kind of going over he
- 1:48Speaker 1: was the serial killer out of Baton Rouge if you
- 1:51Speaker 1: recall back in the early like late nineties, early two
- 1:55Speaker 1: thousand time frame.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And so I know a girl that's said she was
- 2:00Speaker 3: a roommate of one of the victims. Oh yeah, I
- 2:04Speaker 3: was not interested.
- 2:06Speaker 2: What wow?
- 2:09Speaker 3: What this is like?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Send a man in to do a woman's stop, I'll
- 2:13Speaker 1: tell you about.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Oh yeah that's interesting. Yeah yeah, oh.
- 2:16Speaker 1: My god, your son?
- 2:18Speaker 2: What this is like?
- 2:20Speaker 1: This would be like I'll be talking to Stu and
- 2:23Speaker 1: he'll say, yeah, I was hanging out with such and such.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yeah he's getting divorced or something. Just I know this
- 2:28Speaker 1: doesn't happen. I'm just saying this is the example. Be like, yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 1: my buddy, yeah he's getting divorced or whatever. I'm like, okay,
- 2:35Speaker 1: what about It's like, what are you talking about? Like, well,
- 2:38Speaker 1: why are they getting divorced? What happened?
- 2:39Speaker 2: When did this happen?
- 2:41Speaker 1: Doesn't even cross their mind to like get into the gossip.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Of it all.
- 2:47Speaker 2: This is what failure.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I just hope that Stue never runs into somebody that
- 2:51Speaker 1: I would really be interested in knowing additional information about,
- 2:55Speaker 1: because he would fail. I would be like, did you
- 2:57Speaker 1: ask him anything else? No?
- 2:59Speaker 3: What fail? Miss?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Although I did meet Kelly Clarkson one time, and I
- 3:03Speaker 1: did fell I did. I don't know. I just I
- 3:06Speaker 1: shut down.
- 3:07Speaker 3: What were you supposed to do?
- 3:09Speaker 2: I feel like I should.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Have said more things to her.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I should have liked, oh, I'm your biggest fan.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Ever, No, I feel like I should have at least
- 3:15Speaker 1: remember what DVD collection she asked me to look up.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I used to work at a Borders bookstore in Arlington,
- 3:24Speaker 1: Texas rip Borders Bookstores. And Kelly Clarkson is from uh
- 3:33Speaker 1: not Mandeville, that's Louisiana, man's town whatever. That there's some
- 3:38Speaker 1: town down there and starts with an M. It's right
- 3:41Speaker 1: by Arlington, And so she came into the Borders bookstore
- 3:45Speaker 1: one time and she had I remember it was back
- 3:48Speaker 1: whenever people used to wear this gray sweat girls used
- 3:51Speaker 1: to wear the Grace sweatpants and cut them off like capris,
- 3:53Speaker 1: like you cut them off. She was wearing that in
- 3:55Speaker 1: like a white like wife beater type tanked help or whatever,
- 4:01Speaker 1: and her hair a ponytail. And so she walked in
- 4:04Speaker 1: and I think I saw her, but I didn't like
- 4:06Speaker 1: really recognize her, because you know, she didn't have any
- 4:07Speaker 1: makeup on or anything. She just looked like a regular
- 4:09Speaker 1: old person or whatever.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Did you say, hey, since she'd been gone, we got
- 4:13Speaker 3: some new books?
- 4:14Speaker 1: No, I did not. God missed opportunity, I know. So
- 4:19Speaker 1: then I walk up to her and she was I.
- 4:22Speaker 1: We were trained to, like you had to walk up
- 4:25Speaker 1: and say hey, do you need help? Hey? Can I
- 4:27Speaker 1: help you find anything? So I said, Hi, can I
- 4:29Speaker 1: help you find anything? She turned around. I'm like, I know,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'd look at her for a second. I'm like, I
- 4:33Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, you're Kelly Clarkson. And she's
- 4:35Speaker 1: like yeah, And I was like, okay, what.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Would you like?
- 4:39Speaker 1: We don't mind, And that was my interaction. I helped
- 4:44Speaker 1: her find a DVD set collection. It was very expensive
- 4:47Speaker 1: back then, the DVD collection, especially if you bought them
- 4:50Speaker 1: from like a Borders or Barnes and Noble. I remember
- 4:53Speaker 1: it was like some of them would be like four
- 4:55Speaker 1: hundred dollars, like for the full season of So she
- 4:57Speaker 1: went in and she bought a I don't for what thing,
- 5:00Speaker 1: but it was her friends with her friend was with
- 5:02Speaker 1: her and her friend wanted it or something like that,
- 5:04Speaker 1: and it was like two hundred and something dollars. It
- 5:06Speaker 1: was expensive. And then I remember the guy that was
- 5:08Speaker 1: checked that did the register. It was either no, it
- 5:12Speaker 1: was the guy, or was my friend did the register?
- 5:14Speaker 1: And so we were trained to ask for ID or whatever,
- 5:17Speaker 1: and so she didn't even look up and look at her.
- 5:18Speaker 1: She's like, yeah, can I see her ID? And or no,
- 5:21Speaker 1: it was the guy. Okay, the guy. There's a guy
- 5:23Speaker 1: that worked there, and he was creepy as fuck, and
- 5:26Speaker 1: so he asked her to see her I D or whatever.
- 5:29Speaker 2: So she shows it.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And then he starts saying that he lives like near
- 5:32Speaker 1: her or something like it. It was like, not, okay,
- 5:35Speaker 1: what how he acted? It was very strange. I think
- 5:38Speaker 1: he got let go, but he was yes. So maybe
- 5:45Speaker 1: it's Mansville. I don't remember. Is that a city in Louisiana.
- 5:50Speaker 3: No, I don't know.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Mandeille is okay, maybe it's Mansville. Is the town up there?
- 5:56Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe not a bunch of men's there.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I'm not gonna look it up anyways, you could look
- 6:04Speaker 1: it up for me.
- 6:05Speaker 2: You're not doing anything around.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's a city next to someone is
- 6:09Speaker 1: yelling into screaming into their radios right now going I
- 6:14Speaker 1: would I think it's Mansville.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I would never know where Kelly.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Okay, So anyways, so she's so. That was my interaction
- 6:21Speaker 1: with Kelly Clarkson. But my point is we've gotten off track.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Thank you for all of our new patreons. We appreciate
- 6:31Speaker 1: if you'd like to join our patreon It's patreon dot com,
- 6:33Speaker 1: slash bus This Mess podcast. You get the episodes twenty
- 6:37Speaker 1: four hours early and at free. You also get semi
- 6:40Speaker 1: regular Shoot the Poohs where we basically just talked. So
- 6:43Speaker 1: this week we talked about our house hunting. Finally it
- 6:47Speaker 1: went all into the nitty gritty details of running around.
- 6:51Speaker 2: You didn't say drink drank.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I was looking at Kelly Clark.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Where's she from?
- 6:55Speaker 3: I don't know? It says fort Worth. She grew up
- 6:57Speaker 3: in the suburb of Burlson.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Burlsson Burless and yes, someways we appreciate everybody who has
- 7:05Speaker 1: joined mansil. Okay, she may not be from there, but
- 7:11Speaker 1: she lives in Mansville, Mansfield. It's man's field.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So moving on from Kelly Clarkson.
- 7:25Speaker 3: It all comes back to Kelley Clarkson.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yes it does, all right, Oh right, resubscribe where we
- 7:33Speaker 1: get your podcasts, We really appreciate it. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I share our dinners each night. I know that has
- 7:39Speaker 1: nothing to do with at this point.
- 7:42Speaker 3: The page has because evidently from the complaints you're getting,
- 7:47Speaker 3: you are murdering the English line.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I am murdering. People have a real problem with the
- 7:56Speaker 1: way I say ide I do. But just to say
- 8:01Speaker 1: I do know the difference, the grammatical difference between idea
- 8:05Speaker 1: and ideal. I just my brain whenever I'm just saying
- 8:09Speaker 1: it in regular conversation. It can't compute, and I say ideal,
- 8:12Speaker 1: I just say it like that, even though I understand
- 8:14Speaker 1: the difference. I'm not a dumb ass, Okay, I mean
- 8:17Speaker 1: I am in a lot of ways, but that is
- 8:18Speaker 1: not one of them. So, yes, the page has progressed
- 8:22Speaker 1: into something completely not the podcast. But I've been I've
- 8:26Speaker 1: gotten so many new people there, so maybe it'll one
- 8:30Speaker 1: day go to the podcast or I'll just fit. You know,
- 8:33Speaker 1: podcast is one thing, the page is the other. I
- 8:36Speaker 1: enjoy doing both of them, so that that's that's good,
- 8:42Speaker 1: all right? I think, Oh, I was gonna update everybody
- 8:46Speaker 1: we had talked about my books. I tried to tell
- 8:48Speaker 1: Stu about my books yesterday and it didn't go well
- 8:52Speaker 1: because he doesn't understand I'd looked at.
- 8:56Speaker 3: You, I had the dar in a headlight's glazed looking
- 8:59Speaker 3: mine and I was lucky.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I was trying to explain to him, if you've read Yesteryear,
- 9:02Speaker 1: I finished Yesteryear. I was trying to explain it to him,
- 9:05Speaker 1: just for the record. I did not. I don't know.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I still don't know how I feel about it. I
- 9:11Speaker 1: did enjoy it, I felt I stayed up till two
- 9:14Speaker 1: am to finish it. So to me, sometimes I'm like,
- 9:17Speaker 1: should I just read a book by how engaged I
- 9:18Speaker 1: was or how I felt about the book? If I
- 9:21Speaker 1: was just me like how engaged I was as a
- 9:23Speaker 1: five star, but how did I feel about the whole
- 9:26Speaker 1: book and how it ended and what everything was? Maybe
- 9:29Speaker 1: it was more of a three star three and a half.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I don't know, but I finished Yesteryear because that's our
- 9:34Speaker 1: book club for this next or this month in July
- 9:39Speaker 1: or whatever. And then I'm starting to read Good Joy,
- 9:44Speaker 1: Bad Joy, which I'm liking so far in about fifty pages in.
- 9:47Speaker 1: It is about an eighty year old woman and her
- 9:50Speaker 1: name is Joy and she has a friend I forget.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Her name Joy no cause she's bad Joy.
- 9:58Speaker 2: No.
- 9:59Speaker 1: No. She has a eighty nine year old friend who
- 10:02Speaker 1: just found out that she has like cancer and so
- 10:04Speaker 1: she only has a few months to live. But the
- 10:06Speaker 1: friend has kind of lived like a real adventurous life.
- 10:09Speaker 1: She's gone all over the world and just kind of
- 10:11Speaker 1: you know, is real, you know, lives out loud and
- 10:14Speaker 1: stuff that. And Joy has always been the same house
- 10:17Speaker 1: for sixty years. She's just you know, so keeps everything,
- 10:20Speaker 1: thinks the best and people, tries not to be an inconvenience.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And then now she's starting to we haven't got the point. Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 1: So she's starting to get to the point where she's
- 10:29Speaker 1: starting to look at her friend's life and.
- 10:31Speaker 2: It's about to end.
- 10:32Speaker 1: But she's okay with dying because she feels like she's
- 10:35Speaker 1: really lived a fulfilling life and done all the things
- 10:37Speaker 1: she wanted to do, and Joy's like, but have I
- 10:40Speaker 1: done that? And so we're gonna find bad so good
- 10:43Speaker 1: Joy's about to figure out understand bad Joy, and no,
- 10:46Speaker 1: Stu was like, oh, what like the threesomes at the nursing, I'm.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Gonna get a Eiffel towered.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Fuck why would you say that?
- 10:53Speaker 3: What?
- 10:57Speaker 1: That's not what Joy's gonna do. I think she might
- 11:00Speaker 1: break the law or something. I don't know. Anyways, that's
- 11:05Speaker 1: what I'm currently reading reading.
- 11:06Speaker 2: There's a couple I got audio books.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I got other things going on, but those are That's
- 11:10Speaker 1: my main book right now.
- 11:12Speaker 3: So Norman and Merv.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Okay, let's go ahead and get started up it.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Jesus, this is.
- 11:21Speaker 1: The intro Sto. People are just now listening for the
- 11:24Speaker 1: first time.
- 11:25Speaker 3: But I don't contribute enough sometimes, you know what, and
- 11:29Speaker 3: the bantern.
- 11:30Speaker 1: You know what I think it's funny is that so
- 11:32Speaker 1: yesterday I whenever I posted my cooking dinner, I threw
- 11:35Speaker 1: in Penis dough for the hot dog buns. I think
- 11:39Speaker 1: it's so funny because like somebody, so one person was like,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I listened to the podcast for a long time, so
- 11:44Speaker 1: I should know better that you're gonna say that, but
- 11:46Speaker 1: it's so funny because like the people in there and
- 11:47Speaker 1: they just see me like this nice mom before like
- 11:51Speaker 1: and then I'll then I threw in penis in there.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I should repost my video about the pep of the
- 12:00Speaker 1: pig cake.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I got it, yeah the micro yes.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Anyways, all right, so let's go ahead and get into
- 12:11Speaker 1: this week's episode out of Louisiana. All right, So in
- 12:16Speaker 1: August of nineteen ninety two, Connie Warner vanished from her
- 12:20Speaker 1: home in Zachary, Louisiana. So all this is happening around
- 12:23Speaker 1: Baton Rouge. Zachary is where at stew your market.
- 12:25Speaker 3: It is up north of Baton Rouge on Airline.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Highway okay, airline for the Way sixty one.
- 12:33Speaker 1: You know, they almost moved us to Baton Rouge this.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Time I did, we would we would have probably ended
- 12:37Speaker 3: up in Zachary, Baker or something.
- 12:41Speaker 1: So her body was found a week So how we're
- 12:44Speaker 1: going to do this is this is Derek Todd Lee.
- 12:46Speaker 1: So we're just gonna run. We're going through the different
- 12:49Speaker 1: crimes that are happening, and they don't know who could
- 12:53Speaker 1: be responsible. This is a scary time.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Yeah, because it took them a while to put it
- 12:57Speaker 3: together that it was probably the same person. Yeah, and
- 13:00Speaker 3: then Derek Tidley obviously broke the mold on serial killers.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Yes, so we'll talk about it later.
- 13:06Speaker 3: STU whom they thought they were.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Okay, we'll talk about it later. Why are you just
- 13:10Speaker 1: jumping ahead?
- 13:11Speaker 2: Okay?
- 13:12Speaker 3: All right?
- 13:12Speaker 1: Her body was found a week later near a lake.
- 13:14Speaker 1: She died from a skull fracture. Now because of Hurricane Andrew,
- 13:19Speaker 1: the region was struck or Hurricane Andrew struck two days
- 13:24Speaker 1: later in that area after her disappearance. So any type
- 13:27Speaker 1: of physical evidence that was outdoor or anything that was
- 13:30Speaker 1: completely destroyed, which we've heard this a lot people. Some
- 13:34Speaker 1: people do c that one we remember he killed is
- 13:37Speaker 1: what his ex wife during Hurricane Harvey.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Oh the one in Florida.
- 13:41Speaker 1: No, the one in Houston. Oh yeah, Hurricane Harvey's Houston.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Okay, I don't I can't keep tryinging. We've been through
- 13:49Speaker 3: so many hurricanes. Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So, lacking forensic leads, please focused on Connie's ex boyfriend
- 13:54Speaker 1: and her daughter's boyfriend. Now both faced years of interrogation
- 13:58Speaker 1: and suspicion before.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Being cleared in April nineteen ninety eight. Another crime occurred
- 14:04Speaker 3: that is one block from Connie's former house. Randy Jane
- 14:09Speaker 3: met me Burreer. I believe my Brewer was abducted from
- 14:14Speaker 3: her residence. Now her three year old son, which is scary.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Can you imagine our little child having to go walk
- 14:21Speaker 3: alone down the road. Now he walks down the road
- 14:25Speaker 3: to the neighbor's house the next morning and he's like, hey,
- 14:29Speaker 3: my mom's missing. Police go into the house. They find
- 14:32Speaker 3: there's blood everywhere, but Randy's body was never located. Detectives
- 14:38Speaker 3: focused on Randy's ex husband, screening him, interrogating him before
- 14:43Speaker 3: they finally ruled him out. Lacking a body, a weapon,
- 14:47Speaker 3: any physical evidence that could tie them to anybody, the
- 14:51Speaker 3: case went cold.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yep.
- 14:53Speaker 1: So the next one we have up. So nineteen ninety
- 14:56Speaker 1: two is the first year he strikes, and then we
- 14:58Speaker 1: have all the way to ninety nine, and then in
- 15:01Speaker 1: September two thousand and one, he really starts. He's going
- 15:04Speaker 1: to start picking up his pace. So Gina Wilson Green
- 15:08Speaker 1: was found raped and strangled inside her home near Louisiana
- 15:11Speaker 1: State University, which is LSU, which is like the heart
- 15:14Speaker 1: of Baton Rouge. Yes, would you say, Stu.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I would say it's a lot of things center on
- 15:20Speaker 3: the the sporting events going on it.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yes, LSU a lot.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like the whole town's identity is.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Go Tigers, Go tigers.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That in taking money from the citizens of Louisiana at
- 15:35Speaker 1: the casinos, no, at the Texas, at the taxi it's
- 15:40Speaker 1: state taxes that just continue to increase.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Well, they actually lowered those.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Oh they did, but it's still it's like I.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Think they were six percent there, four and a half.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Now, oh really they actually lowered them. Wow, they usually
- 15:53Speaker 1: did they raise something else? Then?
- 15:54Speaker 3: I don't know?
- 15:55Speaker 1: All right, So she is strangled near at her home
- 16:00Speaker 1: near the LSU campus. Because Gina lived alone, Detectives vetted
- 16:04Speaker 1: local transience and professional acquaintances without success. Now forensic technicians
- 16:10Speaker 1: extracted and preserved a semen sample from the scene. So
- 16:14Speaker 1: now they finally have them some physical evidence. Yes, but
- 16:20Speaker 1: it's two thousand and two, it's two thousand and one.
- 16:23Speaker 1: But it's two thousand and one, two thousand and one.
- 16:26Speaker 2: But I think that they had.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Some DNA colog Yeah, I mean, but it's going to
- 16:32Speaker 3: take a while because they don't have the code of
- 16:35Speaker 3: system built. They don't have all the things that they
- 16:37Speaker 3: need to match it. But they do have the DNA sample, so.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Yes, they at least have something to start with there now.
- 16:43Speaker 3: In January two thousand and two, Jarrelyn bar DeSoto was
- 16:47Speaker 3: murdered inside her mobile home and addis, she was beaten, stabbed,
- 16:51Speaker 3: and her throat was slashed. Police immediately arrested her husband,
- 16:55Speaker 3: Darren de Soto, based on a neighbor's report of a
- 16:58Speaker 3: past argument.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Aaron was held under suspicion until, of course he's the husband.
- 17:07Speaker 3: You think I would be a suspect.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Yes, and all these they always just go straight for
- 17:11Speaker 1: the husband or the ex husband or the boyfriend or whatever,
- 17:16Speaker 1: which did not help these putting these crimes together whatsoever.
- 17:19Speaker 3: It did not. But he was held till DNA proved
- 17:23Speaker 3: that he was not the murderer. Not the murderer.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Yes. Now. In May in two thousand and two, Charlotte
- 17:30Speaker 1: Murray Pace was attacked inside her Baton Rouge townhouse. Now,
- 17:35Speaker 1: she fought her attacker across multiple rooms before being stabbed
- 17:38Speaker 1: over eighty times. And so what they believe is that
- 17:42Speaker 1: he came in, he wanted to rape her, and when
- 17:46Speaker 1: she fought because it wasn't normal. This wasn't normal for
- 17:49Speaker 1: him to stab him that many times or whatever. They
- 17:52Speaker 1: believe that she he was tried to rape her and
- 17:55Speaker 1: so she fought back so hard. He just got extremely
- 17:58Speaker 1: angry and still abbed her that many times.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Like it was clearly like out, yes, more than you
- 18:05Speaker 2: would have.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So forensic scientists were able to get DNA from the skin,
- 18:10Speaker 1: uh some skin tissue that Charlotte trapped under her fingernails
- 18:14Speaker 1: during the struggle. Now the markers match the DNA profile
- 18:18Speaker 1: found at the Gina Wilson Green crime scene, confirming that
- 18:22Speaker 1: a single unidentified serial killer was operating in the area.
- 18:25Speaker 1: So this is super scary now because we have now
- 18:30Speaker 1: someone out there attacking young women across Baton Rouge and
- 18:35Speaker 1: they don't know is this only the second one or
- 18:38Speaker 1: do they are there more that they just never connected
- 18:41Speaker 1: to this?
- 18:42Speaker 3: Are there more that are missing that they don't even
- 18:44Speaker 3: know about? Now the body count did continue to rise.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Well, the thing was, I will say he seemed to
- 18:50Speaker 1: or at least the ones that they knew about, Well,
- 18:52Speaker 1: there could been more that missing he didn't, you know,
- 18:54Speaker 1: Like some of them will target more people that like
- 18:57Speaker 1: women like that Jenny eight or whatever. They're women that
- 19:01Speaker 1: maybe not on the fringe, Yes, on the fringe. It
- 19:04Speaker 1: may not be. They'd just be like, oh, well they
- 19:06Speaker 1: just disappeared because that's just their lifestyle or whatever. He
- 19:09Speaker 1: really like, these were all a lot of these Most
- 19:11Speaker 1: of these ones were like mother students, people that had
- 19:18Speaker 1: were in like getting their master's degree and stuff like that.
- 19:20Speaker 1: These were not just people on the streets where he
- 19:23Speaker 1: could just take one, take a woman and nobody would
- 19:26Speaker 1: notice she was missing. These were all people that people
- 19:28Speaker 1: would take note that we're missing. Unless he There is
- 19:31Speaker 1: some rumors that he attacked more, killed more women, but
- 19:35Speaker 1: I mean he killed quite a few that were known.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Yes. In July two thousand and two, Pamela Kennelmore was
- 19:43Speaker 3: abducted from her home and her body was found with
- 19:45Speaker 3: her throat slit near the Whiskey Bay off ramp off
- 19:48Speaker 3: of I ten. That is the big long bridge that
- 19:52Speaker 3: goes over the Chapel I Basin. Yes, and it is,
- 19:57Speaker 3: I don't know not. I guess it's kind of around
- 20:00Speaker 3: the halfway mark maybe. I mean halfway the Whiskey Bay Bridge,
- 20:04Speaker 3: the where you get off when you're going across the
- 20:08Speaker 3: base and you go over that one but not the
- 20:09Speaker 3: Butte Laro's exit where the they got the rest area
- 20:14Speaker 3: there at that one. The Whiskey Bay one is the
- 20:16Speaker 3: one that goes.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Up over, so that's where they also threw that Mickey
- 20:19Speaker 1: Shuenix bike. That's yeah, that's we're not you know what,
- 20:23Speaker 1: We've talked about covering that case or whatever, but her
- 20:26Speaker 1: sister does not like you to go over that does
- 20:30Speaker 1: not like you to cover that case. So we're just
- 20:32Speaker 1: gonna not do. If you never heard the Mickey Shunick cases,
- 20:36Speaker 1: she was abducted on her bike in Lafayette and it
- 20:40Speaker 1: was like a major ordeal. The we'd like the whole
- 20:45Speaker 1: town basically shut down trying to find her and everything.
- 20:50Speaker 1: So they finally did figure out what happened, and the
- 20:53Speaker 1: guy had actually killed someone like, oh, a long time ago.
- 20:57Speaker 3: It was like an ex.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Girlfriend or something like that.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Her name was Pate.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yeah he killed Texas. Yeah, he killed her a long
- 21:04Speaker 1: long time ago. And so they don't know how many
- 21:06Speaker 1: Maybe he had done this too in between there because
- 21:08Speaker 1: it was the I mean it was like over.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Ten years was it ten years between?
- 21:12Speaker 1: I thought it was like nineteen ninety eight he did that.
- 21:15Speaker 3: I didn't think it was that far in between you.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I thought it was a long time. Maybe it was
- 21:18Speaker 1: twenty twelve. I don't know. Those are really really far away. No,
- 21:23Speaker 1: twenty twelve would have been twenty twelve would have been
- 21:26Speaker 1: the Mickey Shunick thing. So yeah, it was probably in
- 21:29Speaker 1: the nineteen ninety eight I think or hers. Anyways, the
- 21:32Speaker 1: point is is that so anyway, so they found her
- 21:35Speaker 1: bike was thrown off in the Whiskey bait. He had
- 21:37Speaker 1: taken her bike because what he did was he abduct
- 21:40Speaker 1: he hit her bike I think, and then he took
- 21:42Speaker 1: it and threw it off.
- 21:43Speaker 3: The somewhere the bridge. He threw it off the bridge,
- 21:46Speaker 3: but it didn't go to the bottom. I got caught
- 21:48Speaker 3: in a tree and some fishermen found it. Yes, because
- 21:51Speaker 3: everybody knew to be looking for that bike too.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yes, everybody was on the lookout, was trying to find
- 21:57Speaker 1: Mickey Shunick. Anyways, but we will not be covering the
- 21:59Speaker 1: game because her sister does not like you. She has
- 22:04Speaker 1: been on several true crime shows. I mean they put
- 22:08Speaker 1: it out there and date lines, but she I don't
- 22:10Speaker 1: need her like coming at us, you know, So we're
- 22:13Speaker 1: just not going to cover it.
- 22:14Speaker 3: There's a lot of people on our side. What do
- 22:17Speaker 3: you mean, like that would come to our page and
- 22:21Speaker 3: chastise us.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Yes, I don't want to be chastised. I can't even
- 22:24Speaker 1: have them correcting making fun of me because I say
- 22:26Speaker 1: ideal wrong. Yes, I cannot handle like an upset family member,
- 22:32Speaker 1: all right.
- 22:33Speaker 3: And then the Killer Bees or whatever they're called. With
- 22:36Speaker 3: the Killer Bees, that's Beyonce's little online group that goes
- 22:39Speaker 3: after or.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Like the Swifties are the swift You don't want to
- 22:42Speaker 1: anger them either.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I don't know what kind of I don't know what
- 22:44Speaker 3: kind of group sister has, but we don't need them coming.
- 22:46Speaker 2: For No, we don't need them coming forth.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It's not that we'd be distrepobed. She doesn't like anybody that.
- 22:51Speaker 1: She didn't say that she could cover it to cover it,
- 22:53Speaker 1: like she even got I think crime junkie cover it
- 22:56Speaker 1: and she got upset with them and Solf like you're
- 22:57Speaker 1: gonna upset with crime Drink Canada. I can't be part
- 22:59Speaker 1: of this because they got their own.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Group you know that comes to their crime junky Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I don't know what they're called, but they've got their
- 23:08Speaker 1: own crime junkies.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah, the.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Junkies I don't need them coming for us either.
- 23:13Speaker 1: No, just let us be in our little corner of
- 23:16Speaker 1: the internet.
- 23:17Speaker 3: We're not this in crime, jnkey. We're just telling you
- 23:19Speaker 3: what happened.
- 23:19Speaker 1: We're just telling you what happened. Okay, We're just like
- 23:22Speaker 1: where it's fine, we love everybody, everything's great.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Just leave us alone.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Shows. Yes, in a cost, we'll have to hire a
- 23:30Speaker 3: media person to argue with all our online trolls.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, And so anyways, that was the whole
- 23:36Speaker 1: point in the Whiskey Bay. That was also where her
- 23:39Speaker 1: bike was found. Now, in November of two thousand and two,
- 23:42Speaker 1: Traniesha Denay Colombe colomb might pronounce that right. Well, he
- 23:47Speaker 1: was abducted from a cemetery in Grand Katou and bludgets deet. Now,
- 23:51Speaker 1: this was a weird one because I remember this. This
- 23:54Speaker 1: is I don't remember this, but I remember the story
- 23:57Speaker 1: people talking about the story. I mean, obviously I wasn't
- 23:59Speaker 1: there whenever this happened, but yeah, it's like right up
- 24:03Speaker 1: there where we were, like he was moving there was
- 24:07Speaker 1: He traveled a lot in that area because Lafayette and
- 24:09Speaker 1: Baton Rouge are about an hour apart, maybe forty five
- 24:12Speaker 1: minutes to an hour.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Yeah, about fifty miles.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so he was moving around or whatever.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Less there's a wreck on the Iten Bridge, then it's
- 24:18Speaker 3: about eight hours apart.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yep. So then after that happened in March of two
- 24:22Speaker 1: thousand and three, Carrie Lynn Yo. So they didn't have
- 24:25Speaker 1: anything to connect these. Carrie Lynn Yoder was kidnapped from
- 24:28Speaker 1: her Lsu apartment complex and strange strangled. Her body was
- 24:32Speaker 1: left at the same Whiskey Bay site as Pamela's. So
- 24:37Speaker 1: this seemed to be a frequent place that he would
- 24:39Speaker 1: go in the dead of night, I'm sure and could
- 24:41Speaker 1: gumple body.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:43Speaker 3: A multi agency task force was formed, as one would
- 24:47Speaker 3: imagine that would be, but investigators relied on a profile
- 24:50Speaker 3: from the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit or the Bow the
- 24:56Speaker 3: Ball Hey, Baul bau Ball.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Oh my god, stay in. If you just turned the podcast,
- 25:07Speaker 1: I understand who would do.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Such a thing?
- 25:11Speaker 1: Someone people right now, Just I'm done.
- 25:14Speaker 3: First time listener, last time listener. First now, this was
- 25:20Speaker 3: a white They FBI determined that it was a white
- 25:23Speaker 3: male between the ages of twenty five and thirty five,
- 25:27Speaker 3: and this is supported by a witness who under hypnosis
- 25:30Speaker 3: claimed to see a white man driving an old, white
- 25:33Speaker 3: pickup truck near a crime, saying.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Why is the FBI using hypnosis?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Do they use that?
- 25:38Speaker 1: Still?
- 25:39Speaker 3: I'm sure they do. I'm sure they use people at
- 25:42Speaker 3: Uh what do they call those? I don't know when
- 25:47Speaker 3: they have visions?
- 25:49Speaker 2: Uh, psychics, psychics.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure they use psychics still.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Too, Are you sure?
- 25:55Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I'm almost positive there's a psychic somewhere. They're like, we
- 25:58Speaker 3: got this case is cold bringing the psychic?
- 26:02Speaker 1: Well, I mean I've seen that. I've seen that happen
- 26:04Speaker 1: on like but that's more like the family members doing that.
- 26:08Speaker 1: I al would think that the FBI wouldn't. I mean,
- 26:11Speaker 1: I think hypnosis can work, but obviously not here.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Well, maybe they did say a white man driving a
- 26:17Speaker 3: white pickup truck. There's a lot of white pickup trucks
- 26:20Speaker 3: and white men. Yes. Based on this profile, the task
- 26:25Speaker 3: force collected DNA swabs from over one twelve hundred white men.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Investigators received multiple citizen tips and name.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And we know we're saying white a lot.
- 26:35Speaker 2: There's a reason because they're white.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Yes, But I'm saying, like we're emphasizing white men for
- 26:40Speaker 1: a reason.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Because they're serial killers.
- 26:45Speaker 1: No, because with part of the profile is that it
- 26:48Speaker 1: was this was where you were talking about he broke
- 26:50Speaker 1: the mold because he's these were all white. His victims
- 26:55Speaker 1: were mainly white. I don't think all of them were. Though.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Investigators received multiple citizen tips naming a specific individual, but
- 27:05Speaker 3: because that suspect was black, they dismissed the tips and
- 27:09Speaker 3: did not test his DNA four months. The investigation was
- 27:13Speaker 3: further complicated because other serial killers were active in Baton
- 27:17Speaker 3: Rouge at the same time.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Yeah, because this is like insane. They said, this was
- 27:21Speaker 1: like the one of the weirdest things to have this
- 27:24Speaker 1: many serial killers operating at the same time in the
- 27:28Speaker 1: same area. I mean, it was.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Like it's New York or LA. It's Baton Roum.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Yeah. It's a small I mean it is a larger
- 27:36Speaker 1: population for the state Louisiana.
- 27:37Speaker 3: But it is now after Katrina.
- 27:40Speaker 1: No, but I'm saying even in general now, the population
- 27:44Speaker 1: is small compared to say a city in Texas, like
- 27:48Speaker 1: Louisiana is a small population. I think there's four million
- 27:50Speaker 1: people in all of state Louisiana and there's six millionaire.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and like Charles Alexander's h tree Port.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Truth, that's it.
- 28:00Speaker 1: But I'm saying they're like small town they're smaller towns
- 28:03Speaker 1: compared to like if you were in Texas, Like all
- 28:06Speaker 1: of the population of Houston is more than the entire
- 28:09Speaker 1: state of Louisiana. So it's not that many people.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Yeah, there's thirty eight million in Houston the suburbs or
- 28:14Speaker 3: eight million, I.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Mean, yeah, it's think it's like six to eight Last
- 28:17Speaker 1: time I heard it was six million, but it could
- 28:19Speaker 1: be eight million now I don't know anyway, So it
- 28:22Speaker 1: was it was absolutely. They were just in shock that
- 28:24Speaker 1: when they figured this out that there's three and so
- 28:27Speaker 1: we may have to cover the other two at some point.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Well now we're going to have to.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to have to now. So the first one.
- 28:34Speaker 3: The first one, Sean Vincent Gillis, was a white male.
- 28:39Speaker 3: He murdered eight women between nineteen ninety four and two
- 28:42Speaker 3: thousand and four. Because Shawn matched the FBI profile, his
- 28:46Speaker 3: crimes skewed the task Force data, causing police to treat
- 28:50Speaker 3: separate murder patterns as the work of the one person.
- 28:55Speaker 3: A third killer, Jeffrey Lee Gillery, was also active. Further
- 29:01Speaker 3: forensic overlap and their investigation. Yes, so yes, you can
- 29:06Speaker 3: imagine be quite confused and people are why can't you
- 29:08Speaker 3: catch him?
- 29:09Speaker 2: It's like, why can't you people stop being zero killed?
- 29:12Speaker 3: Yeah? What the hell? The hell y'all down here?
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yes, I don't know what Someone's in the drinking water
- 29:18Speaker 1: at the dumbs it.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Might be and coming from that refinery up the road.
- 29:22Speaker 1: So they finally got a breakthrough when a witt or
- 29:25Speaker 1: like someone actually survived an attack from Derek Todd Lee
- 29:30Speaker 1: Surviving Victims to if you Will Now. In July two
- 29:34Speaker 1: thousand and two, a man entered the home of Diane
- 29:37Speaker 1: Alexander under the ruse of using her phone. Now, he
- 29:41Speaker 1: attacked her, but Diane fought back, delaying him until he
- 29:45Speaker 1: was in there with her, and her son pulls up
- 29:47Speaker 1: outside and so he gets scared away and takes off.
- 29:52Speaker 1: So Diane she survived. She worked with a sketch artist
- 29:55Speaker 1: to create a composite drawing now because her case occurred
- 29:58Speaker 1: in a different parish. Now, if you're unfamiliar what a
- 30:01Speaker 1: parish is, it's the same as a county, but in
- 30:05Speaker 1: Louisiana they're called parishes. It's the only state that does that.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And they're based the parishes are based on the old
- 30:11Speaker 1: time Catholic churches in that region.
- 30:13Speaker 3: The parish. Yes, yes, still under Napoleonic code, not English
- 30:17Speaker 3: law as well.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Yes, okay, thank you for that.
- 30:21Speaker 3: You're well.
- 30:22Speaker 1: So the task force didn't immediately cross references into all
- 30:26Speaker 1: their other crimes because again he is working, you know,
- 30:31Speaker 1: around the area and passing over into different parishes. So
- 30:36Speaker 1: there are absolutely desperate to get any type of lead.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So the task force bypassed the FBI profile that they
- 30:43Speaker 1: sent and sent the crime scene DNA to a private
- 30:46Speaker 1: lab for DNA phenotyping. And so because they were like you,
- 30:50Speaker 1: there's something wrong with your stupid hypnosis things and your profile.
- 30:55Speaker 1: And part of the profile was because normally they they
- 30:58Speaker 1: killed their own. Serial killers usually stick to their own race.
- 31:01Speaker 1: So a black serial killer would kill more likely black women,
- 31:06Speaker 1: and a white serial killer would kill white women. That's always,
- 31:10Speaker 1: I mean, he's that's how they do. I mean, I
- 31:13Speaker 1: don't think there's any that have done that I know
- 31:15Speaker 1: of that are as famous as Derek Todd Lee that
- 31:18Speaker 1: have gone broke the mold, if you will. Unfortunately it's
- 31:21Speaker 1: the terminal. He did break the bit the mold. So
- 31:25Speaker 1: he really threw off the whole FBI's ability to the basso,
- 31:29Speaker 1: the balance to call it to be able to determine
- 31:33Speaker 1: who was So anyways, with the results show that the
- 31:35Speaker 1: eighty five percent probability that the killer UH was not
- 31:39Speaker 1: white he actually had UH was black is what they determined. Now,
- 31:45Speaker 1: with the white male theory disproven, investigators reviewed all the
- 31:49Speaker 1: tips that they were like, this can't be it, this
- 31:52Speaker 1: can't be him, and they yeah, and they found the
- 31:55Speaker 1: name Derek Todd Lee and matched his photo to Diane's
- 32:00Speaker 1: a sketch that she had drawn from her memory. Now
- 32:03Speaker 1: May two thousand and three, police obtained a court order
- 32:06Speaker 1: for his DNA which matched the crime scenes. So now
- 32:10Speaker 1: we finally have the official name of the killer identified
- 32:14Speaker 1: as Derek Todd Lee.
- 32:17Speaker 3: When the DNA match was confirmed, Derek Toddlee fled Louisiana
- 32:21Speaker 3: the US marshalls the FBI. In Louisiana, State police tracked
- 32:26Speaker 3: him using cell phone tower pings from a burner phone
- 32:29Speaker 3: he had and some wire transfers that he was trying
- 32:33Speaker 3: to make I guess to get some money. Derek traveled
- 32:36Speaker 3: north to Chicago.
- 32:38Speaker 1: That's in Illinois, Karra, You know what I was until
- 32:41Speaker 1: I did this or whatever. I mean, I kind of
- 32:44Speaker 1: knew about about Derek todd Lee, but I hadn't really
- 32:46Speaker 1: I'd known a little bit about his crime stuff. I
- 32:48Speaker 1: did not realize that he ran away like he tried
- 32:52Speaker 1: to flee. I had no clue. I thought they just
- 32:54Speaker 1: picked him up.
- 32:54Speaker 3: In sitting there eating hamburger at the past.
- 32:57Speaker 2: They were doing them, yes.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Well, now using an alias. He was on the run
- 33:03Speaker 3: on the lamb, as they would say. Now, realizing authorities
- 33:07Speaker 3: were tracking him, he changed direction and he took a
- 33:10Speaker 3: bus south through Mississippi. Triangulation eventually placed him in Atlanta, Georgia.
- 33:15Speaker 3: I guess he didn't get rid of his burner phone.
- 33:17Speaker 3: And this is where he checked into the Lakewood Motor
- 33:21Speaker 3: Lodge under a fake name. To avoid suspicion. He hosted
- 33:25Speaker 3: Bible studies for other guests.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just like, let me just lean into this.
- 33:30Speaker 2: They would never say you enough about the Bible.
- 33:33Speaker 1: They would never suspect the Bible study leader as the
- 33:37Speaker 1: serial killer of Baton Rouge.
- 33:40Speaker 3: On May twenty seventh, two thousand and three, Derek todd
- 33:43Speaker 3: Lee saw his photograph broadcast on a national news segment
- 33:47Speaker 3: in the motel lobby. He fled his room, leaving behind
- 33:50Speaker 3: his clothes, boots, and a bible. Within minutes, US Marshalls
- 33:54Speaker 3: and Atlanta police flooded the area. Officers spotted Derek Toidlee
- 33:59Speaker 3: walkking down a sidewalk the or a tire shop. Agents
- 34:03Speaker 3: surrounded him, and Derek Toddley surrendered without any resistance.
- 34:08Speaker 1: All right, So now that they have him in custody,
- 34:11Speaker 1: they're trying to figure out how did he get because
- 34:17Speaker 1: this person? Yes, so they started to get details of
- 34:21Speaker 1: Derek's upbringing and it gave them a better I guess
- 34:24Speaker 1: understanding of well, it helped put they wanted to put.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Also like they needed this for the FBI profiling as well.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Like they get all this information. That's how they continue
- 34:33Speaker 1: to improve their ability to profile people is to try
- 34:37Speaker 1: to understand their history, their background and where how they
- 34:41Speaker 1: can just put.
- 34:41Speaker 3: All that into the AI generator.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Now I know, no, you don't even you don't even
- 34:45Speaker 1: need it. Yeah, so born on November fifth, Uh, we're
- 34:49Speaker 1: not supposed to be using AI.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Stew it's tearing up the environments.
- 34:52Speaker 1: From what I was told, and all the people in
- 34:53Speaker 1: the humming, the humming, Yes, the I feel bad for
- 34:57Speaker 1: the have you not seen the things where the their
- 34:59Speaker 1: bill in the data centers and it's a constant low
- 35:02Speaker 1: humming all the time.
- 35:03Speaker 3: I don't know. I got tonight, I know, But for the.
- 35:07Speaker 1: The regular folk, I feel so bad. They're out there
- 35:09Speaker 1: in the country and they'll like do their thing and
- 35:12Speaker 1: you can just hear it constant. I don't understand how
- 35:15Speaker 1: they got to get away with this. I mean, if
- 35:17Speaker 1: you have a neighborhood and it's too close to a road,
- 35:20Speaker 1: you have to build sound barrier walls, like I don't understand.
- 35:23Speaker 3: How we looked at that one house that would have
- 35:25Speaker 3: had all the water in the driveway and the nine
- 35:27Speaker 3: to nine was right behind it.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Well, because that was probably their first but if you
- 35:32Speaker 1: were there, yes, if you were there first, they have
- 35:35Speaker 1: to go and build sound barrier walls to not reduce
- 35:39Speaker 1: your quality of life. I don't understand how these data
- 35:41Speaker 1: centers are getting away with this, Probably because it's billionaires
- 35:45Speaker 1: behind it or whatever, just like getting their own they're
- 35:48Speaker 1: getting their way. So Derek was born on November sixth,
- 35:52Speaker 1: nineteen sixty eight, in Saint Francis, Fhil, Louisiana, one of
- 35:55Speaker 1: our favorite places. Yes, if you are ever in that
- 36:00Speaker 1: area or from that area and you haven't been up there,
- 36:02Speaker 1: definitely go there's the myrtles, the myrtles, which we've gone
- 36:06Speaker 1: several times. It's supposed to be haunted, it's not. And
- 36:11Speaker 1: then we have the Francis Hotel.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Is it Ian Francis?
- 36:17Speaker 1: I thought it was the Francis Hotel.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I thought it was the St.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Francis in Okay, whatever it got excellent steak, go eat there.
- 36:25Speaker 1: And then we haven't stayed there yet, though we always
- 36:27Speaker 1: end up saying we love the myrtles, like the myrtles
- 36:30Speaker 1: is so great. It's we stayed in one of those
- 36:31Speaker 1: little cabins. I want to go back.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Yes, the cabins are.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Real nice cabbage are the carriage Yes, the carriage house.
- 36:42Speaker 1: We haven't stayed the carriage house.
- 36:43Speaker 3: The carriage house burned down, okay, but where are they
- 36:47Speaker 3: The carriage house they replaced with all those from a
- 36:50Speaker 3: ghost those yes, the ghost of somebody probably smoking a
- 36:53Speaker 3: cigarette by the grease bat or something where they built
- 36:59Speaker 3: those rooms that we stayed in, the miller rooms. The
- 37:02Speaker 3: carriage house was right there.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Then there's that other houses.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Because the restaurant also used to be called a carriage.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Oh, there's the caretakers, the care keeper, take keeper, keeper
- 37:12Speaker 1: taker in whatever taker's in or something. Is that six
- 37:16Speaker 1: bedroom one? Oh, you can stay in. And then we stayed.
- 37:20Speaker 1: My favorite one was those little cabins we stayed in
- 37:23Speaker 1: last time. That one was great.
- 37:24Speaker 3: You didn't like staying in the main house up the staircase.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I did, but for our current situation it was much No.
- 37:30Speaker 1: That one was fun because we were up there and
- 37:31Speaker 1: then they would do the ghost tours and we would
- 37:33Speaker 1: make noises up there whenever.
- 37:34Speaker 2: The people came by, just walk around.
- 37:36Speaker 1: We start walking around and kind of thump and stuff,
- 37:38Speaker 1: and they because we didn't know if anybody knew that
- 37:40Speaker 1: anybody stayed up there for stairs, and they were out
- 37:43Speaker 1: there at night, like relate at night anyways, because there's
- 37:46Speaker 1: like supposed to be a haunted mirror that's right there
- 37:49Speaker 1: you can look into, and so when they were staying there,
- 37:51Speaker 1: we'd like make thuds and stuff. Okay, So go to
- 37:54Speaker 1: Saint Francisville, Louisiana. It's very nice, Derek there, No, he's
- 37:59Speaker 1: not so. Derek was raised by his mother after his father,
- 38:02Speaker 1: who suffered from schizophrenia and psychosis, abandoned the family. Now,
- 38:07Speaker 1: Derek he had learning disabilities, attending special education classes and
- 38:12Speaker 1: dropping out a school in the eleventh grade. Now, a
- 38:15Speaker 1: forensic psychiatrist evaluated him and later estimated his IQ was
- 38:20Speaker 1: at around seventy five, which was almost to the level
- 38:24Speaker 1: of being where he would get assistance from I think
- 38:27Speaker 1: the government to even help him function in life. That's
- 38:31Speaker 1: how low his mental capacity was, or almost on that
- 38:35Speaker 1: verge of that cut off line. So anyway, so he
- 38:38Speaker 1: started his criminal history with voyeurism. So throughout the late
- 38:43Speaker 1: nineteen eighties and nineteen nineties, police in Zachary and Saint
- 38:47Speaker 1: francis Ville received multiple complaints regarding Derek looking through windows. Yes,
- 38:52Speaker 1: he was arrested for voyeurism, prowling, and stalking. Now his
- 38:57Speaker 1: behavior escalated over the years to include resididential burglary, criminal trespass,
- 39:03Speaker 1: and domestic violence. The problem with the peeping tom is
- 39:06Speaker 1: they just kind of played it off. Was you know,
- 39:08Speaker 1: Derek was like a generally good looking well yeah, but
- 39:12Speaker 1: he was also like generally he was pretty a good
- 39:15Speaker 1: looking guy and everything, and they were like, oh, he'll
- 39:18Speaker 1: grow out of that, was the whole thing.
- 39:19Speaker 2: He'll grow out of it.
- 39:20Speaker 1: He's just doing silly boy things, you know, just silly things,
- 39:25Speaker 1: just going and peeping in people's windows and stuff like that.
- 39:27Speaker 1: No big deal anyway, So it all came down to that.
- 39:32Speaker 1: He started with the or slowly escalate up to domestic
- 39:37Speaker 1: violence and where in two thousand he was convicted of
- 39:39Speaker 1: severe battery against his girlfriend. Now, because these early offenses
- 39:44Speaker 1: occurred across separate local jurisdictions, they were treated as isolated incidents,
- 39:49Speaker 1: allowing him to basically the criminal profiles were the one
- 39:53Speaker 1: where I watch where they're interviewed talked about how he
- 39:55Speaker 1: basically was honing his skills. He started with just this,
- 39:58Speaker 1: how do I sneak around the house, house and look
- 40:01Speaker 1: in a window? How do I break into a house?
- 40:05Speaker 1: And then all this was a hymn like practicing his.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Skills, putting it all together, Yes.
- 40:10Speaker 1: And it allowed him to do this to where he
- 40:12Speaker 1: got up to the point where he was breaking in
- 40:14Speaker 1: and murdering women.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Derek was extradited back to Louisiana and tried in two
- 40:20Speaker 3: thousand and four. In August of two thousand and four,
- 40:23Speaker 3: he was found guilty of first degree murder for the
- 40:25Speaker 3: death of Jeralen bar DeSoto, and he was sentenced to
- 40:28Speaker 3: life without parole. In October two thousand and four, he
- 40:32Speaker 3: was convicted of first degree murder for the death of
- 40:34Speaker 3: Charlotte Murray Pace, where the DNA under her fingernails proved
- 40:39Speaker 3: his identity and he received the death penalty for that.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Derek Tidley, that.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Was the one that was extremely brutal, the eighty one
- 40:48Speaker 1: stabbings and stuff like that. It was particularly horrendous.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Now he Derek Tidley did remain on death row in
- 40:58Speaker 3: Louisiana State Penitentiary ann INNGLA for over ten years. He
- 41:03Speaker 3: died at the age of forty seven on January twenty
- 41:06Speaker 3: first to twenty sixteen from complications of heart disease before
- 41:10Speaker 3: his execution could be carried out. Because he was trying
- 41:13Speaker 3: to get off death row and he was doing all
- 41:18Speaker 3: kinds of stuff to try and get out of jail
- 41:19Speaker 3: because he had heart issues.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Well, yeah, and now so I'm sure that his IQ
- 41:23Speaker 1: being that low, he probably tried to use that.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, so his attorneys were trying to get him
- 41:29Speaker 3: out of jail, basically definitely get him off the death
- 41:33Speaker 3: row and then see what they could do. Right.
- 41:34Speaker 1: People upset that he died in jail or they didn't
- 41:37Speaker 1: care because he was serial killer. You know, like sometimes
- 41:39Speaker 1: they'll get up, like the public will get upset and say,
- 41:41Speaker 1: we you should have let him out because he needed
- 41:43Speaker 1: I don't.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Recall anybody being upset that Derek Toddley was not released.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I don't know some people because of.
- 41:49Speaker 3: This medical I mean, I'm sure there were some people
- 41:51Speaker 3: that are like, I can't believe he held that poor
- 41:52Speaker 3: man in jail. Yes, that's why, that's why we don't
- 41:56Speaker 3: need the death penalty appeals process to last this long.
- 42:01Speaker 3: A guy could die. You got to get in there.
- 42:03Speaker 3: You got the DNA, you got all the things you need.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Yes, but what if you make a mistake.
- 42:08Speaker 3: On two or three different victims.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not talking about him specifically. I'm just
- 42:12Speaker 1: talking about I would be.
- 42:14Speaker 2: You better know.
- 42:15Speaker 3: I'm saying with the DNA that they got on Derek Toddley.
- 42:18Speaker 2: We know he does, Yes, we know he did what
- 42:19Speaker 2: he did.
- 42:20Speaker 3: So he wrote should have rolled Old Sparky rode the
- 42:22Speaker 3: light and whatever you want to say, well.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Before at being at the Gola rodeo.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Yeah, being a barrel clown at the end.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I know, I can't believe we never went now we
- 42:32Speaker 1: can go there. We're back down there close by.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we're.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Back to prison break. Whenever we go, we're.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Gonna Did you see that thing? Which which prison was
- 42:41Speaker 1: that where the whole prison had a riot and took
- 42:44Speaker 1: up They took over the prison here in like.
- 42:45Speaker 2: The last week.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I have not seen this.
- 42:47Speaker 1: You haven't seen that where they took over the prison? No, okay,
- 42:50Speaker 1: well I'll have to find it.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I usually see some crazy stuff.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Yeah. You usually the one telling me, oh yeah, like
- 42:57Speaker 1: have you seen this or whatever? Anyways, do you have
- 43:02Speaker 1: our y'all need Jesus.
- 43:05Speaker 3: Yes, I'm gonna have to find it though, because I
- 43:06Speaker 3: had a page opened up looking for Kelly Clarkson's hometown.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Or it was a North Carolina prison, Yes, North Carolina.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Eighty inmates overpowered three guards at North Carolina.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Jel.
- 43:25Speaker 1: The siege ended hours later. Wow, they need Jesus.
- 43:30Speaker 3: To do.
- 43:32Speaker 1: It was the Birdie Martin. The three guards and eighty
- 43:35Speaker 1: eight inmates were inside the Birdie Martin Regional Detention Center
- 43:39Speaker 1: in Windsor when the takeover began at fought at about
- 43:43Speaker 1: five am. Such an ungodly hour. Jesus, let's be a.
- 43:47Speaker 3: Let's hey man, you're gonna take over the present with us. No, No,
- 43:50Speaker 3: at what time?
- 43:51Speaker 1: No, absolutely, let's be respectful around like ten am at
- 43:56Speaker 1: least if we're going to be doing that.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I need to eat. I need to digest my
- 44:00Speaker 3: breakfast and take a gromper and then you to the present.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Oh my god, ladies, he's available.
- 44:10Speaker 3: They know I get all kinds of DMS.
- 44:13Speaker 1: All right, anyways, go ahead and do your y'all. They
- 44:19Speaker 1: took two guards captive, and the third guard escaped. Negotiations
- 44:24Speaker 1: led to the release of the two guards along with
- 44:25Speaker 1: eighty inmates, leaving only eight inmates inside. Blah blah blah
- 44:29Speaker 1: blah blah. Yeah crazy. What did they accomplish with that? Nothing?
- 44:36Speaker 2: But they think they were going to accomplish.
- 44:38Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Why is there eighty eight prisoners in three guards? Is
- 44:41Speaker 1: what I want to know. What kind of ratios is that?
- 44:43Speaker 1: I would not be signed up to work there?
- 44:44Speaker 3: I mean, if you got all your stuff in lockdown
- 44:47Speaker 3: that they I guess they didn't at the time.
- 44:49Speaker 1: No, obviously not. All right, go ahead and do your
- 44:53Speaker 1: y'all need Jesus, are you ready?
- 44:56Speaker 3: Yes, I amy, aren't y'all naked at some point? Well? Yeah,
- 45:03Speaker 3: nude guy is what the nude guy said to cops
- 45:07Speaker 3: after allegedly attacking a man and his dog Florida or
- 45:13Speaker 3: not Florida.
- 45:15Speaker 1: A naked man Florida.
- 45:18Speaker 3: From Yahoo News.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Wow, way to give y'ahoo.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Stephan is buried Monday, June eighth, twenty six I'm trying
- 45:29Speaker 3: to figure out where this is.
- 45:29Speaker 1: You're the only person that's been to Yahoo News.
- 45:33Speaker 3: I think this is in Massachusetts. Ludlow A Ludlow man
- 45:37Speaker 3: will not be arraigned Monday after his arrest on assault,
- 45:41Speaker 3: animal cruelty and in decent exposure charges. I don't know,
- 45:45Speaker 3: maybe yeah, who got this wrong? I mean I would
- 45:48Speaker 3: think he would be arraigned. Police say Alexander Morano.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Who knew Stewart?
- 45:53Speaker 1: This is like they probably have like one staff writer.
- 45:56Speaker 1: They're covering everything from politics to sports.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Hey, AI write this story on this guy, Please say
- 46:05Speaker 3: Alexander Morano. Mayor Rhannon Okay whatever, age thirty four attacked
- 46:11Speaker 3: a man and his dog Sunday and was completely nude
- 46:15Speaker 3: during the incident. According to the report, a man walking
- 46:19Speaker 3: his eight year old pit bull Diesel called nine one
- 46:23Speaker 3: one just before nine nine thirty in the morning. This
- 46:26Speaker 3: happened Kara to report a naked man had charged out
- 46:30Speaker 3: of the woods at him on Ludlow Mills River Walk,
- 46:33Speaker 3: near the town's center. This has happened in the town center.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Wow.
- 46:38Speaker 3: He allegedly threatened him, claiming he had a shotgun, and
- 46:42Speaker 3: he choked Diesel the dog during the alleged assault.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Oh, death penalty right there. He wouldn't talk about why.
- 46:49Speaker 3: He's lucky he didn't get the death penalty. Diesel's a
- 46:51Speaker 3: damn pit bull. How do you choke a pit bull's neck.
- 46:56Speaker 3: It's all muscle right there.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know. Yeah, your hands would get real tired.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Guy's taking his life in his own hand.
- 47:05Speaker 1: I don't want anybody up north talking about no Florida
- 47:08Speaker 1: manning anymore after this nonsense. You guys go, don't even
- 47:11Speaker 1: come at us down here in the South with all
- 47:13Speaker 1: your You guys got some crazies too, Okay.
- 47:16Speaker 3: When officers arrived, the alleged victim pointed to an area
- 47:19Speaker 3: further down the path. According to the police report, victim
- 47:24Speaker 3: then pointed me in the north direction towards State Street
- 47:28Speaker 3: and pointed to what appeared to be a white, fully
- 47:31Speaker 3: naked male who just popped up from the grassy area,
- 47:34Speaker 3: the police officer said. Moreno then ducked back down, according
- 47:39Speaker 3: to officers, but emerged soon after with his hands up.
- 47:43Speaker 3: He did not have the shotgun that he allegedly told
- 47:46Speaker 3: the guy he was going to shoot, and no weapon
- 47:50Speaker 3: could be found in the immediate area. They did find
- 47:53Speaker 3: his clothing, watch, and wallet in the area. When police
- 47:57Speaker 3: asked why Moreno was naked, he responded, what do you think?
- 48:02Speaker 3: He responded with.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Karl, weren't we all naked at some point?
- 48:06Speaker 3: Yes. Moreno, who owns a home improvement business according to
- 48:11Speaker 3: his social media presence, was charged with disorderly conduct, threat
- 48:15Speaker 3: to see.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I'm my whole thing with like researching the people that
- 48:18Speaker 1: were buying our house from is no different than what
- 48:22Speaker 1: these journalists are going on Facebook and seeing what naked
- 48:27Speaker 1: bands up to.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Disorderly conduct, threat to use a deadly weapon, open and
- 48:33Speaker 3: gross lewdness, animal cruelty, and indecent exposure. I don't know
- 48:38Speaker 3: where you get opening gross ludness and indecent exposure from.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Was he indecent or was it opening gross udness?
- 48:46Speaker 2: It was indecent, but based on what they saw, it
- 48:48Speaker 2: was open and gross.
- 48:52Speaker 1: It's like insulted in.
- 48:54Speaker 2: It's like what they do.
- 48:57Speaker 3: It's like, you're chelking my dog and I gotta see
- 48:59Speaker 3: your brain on starfish.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Come on, dude, it's just so gross.
- 49:03Speaker 1: It's like whenever you die, if you're like fat and
- 49:06Speaker 1: you die and they tell they put in the cause
- 49:09Speaker 1: of death is like morbid.
- 49:11Speaker 2: Obeeziers. I was like, can we just not kick me
- 49:13Speaker 2: while I'm down.
- 49:14Speaker 3: To say hard at that?
- 49:16Speaker 1: Just make up something other than oh they were too fat.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Neither the man nor his dog suffered serious injuries, according
- 49:25Speaker 3: to police hamp In. The County Sheriff's Department spokesman Robert
- 49:31Speaker 3: Rizuto Confirmer remain Moreno was in the agency's custody in
- 49:38Speaker 3: Ludlow and that he is not expected to appear in
- 49:41Speaker 3: court on Monday. After his arrest, officer said he was
- 49:46Speaker 3: speaking rapidly and incoherently. They speculated he was in the
- 49:50Speaker 3: throes of a drug induced or mental health episode. Do
- 49:54Speaker 3: you think our suspect has had a series of run
- 50:00Speaker 3: ins with the law over the past year, and has
- 50:02Speaker 3: three other cases pending in various district courts, according to
- 50:06Speaker 3: public records. On February twenty fifth, he was arrested by
- 50:09Speaker 3: Ludlow Police and charge with driving under the influence of
- 50:12Speaker 3: drugs and alcohol, his second such offense. Police encountered his
- 50:18Speaker 3: car after he had rammed it into a snow bank
- 50:21Speaker 3: and was driving on three tires, according to a police report.
- 50:25Speaker 3: During his that arrest, Morano kept insisting he was a
- 50:29Speaker 3: child of God. Reach for comment about Sunday's arrest, his
- 50:34Speaker 3: attorney in the OUI case stated Morano had a good
- 50:38Speaker 3: relationship with his family. We are going to try as
- 50:41Speaker 3: hard as we can to get him all the support
- 50:43Speaker 3: he needs, said lawyer Joseph Bernard, without commenting on the
- 50:49Speaker 3: new charges. In April, he was also arrested operating with
- 50:53Speaker 3: a suspended license in Springfield District Court and again in
- 50:57Speaker 3: May in Dudley District Court. So mister Moreno has some issues.
- 51:05Speaker 2: You thinks too few.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Anyways, I'm just happy to.
- 51:10Speaker 3: His home improvement company is going to be tanking there shortly.
- 51:16Speaker 1: I'm just happy to know that they have their own
- 51:19Speaker 1: problems up there that they.
- 51:20Speaker 3: And they keep flattening out. This guy should be in
- 51:22Speaker 3: the psych war somewhere or JS.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Probably he's gotten, aren't we Can you imagine, God, can't
- 51:31Speaker 1: you can you imagine if you would let him come
- 51:33Speaker 1: in your home, and like you found out that that
- 51:36Speaker 1: was your handyman that came in and like read did.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Your bathroom or something.
- 51:42Speaker 1: I would have to like disinfect her because who knows
- 51:45Speaker 1: what he did.
- 51:45Speaker 2: If he's like okay, all right, I.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Think we're okay pleasuring him.
- 51:51Speaker 1: I think we're done this now?
- 51:53Speaker 2: Is this?
- 51:54Speaker 1: This is Lewed engrosser, gross and open whatever you said
- 51:59Speaker 1: early indecent, gross and open. All right. On that note,
