  - Hello, and welcome to today's daily prayers with

  - Valerie Rocha. Today's prayer focus is

  - the fear of starting again.

  - Scripture text comes from Joshua one nine and

  - says, be strong and courageous for the Lord

  - your God will be with you wherever you

  - go.

  - You know, sometimes we're ready to leave the

  - past behind,

  - but afraid to take the next step.

  - I mean, our mind is racing
• 0:49
  - a million miles a minute.
• 0:52
  - What if it doesn't work? And what if
• 0:55
  - I make another mistake? And what if I
• 0:57
  - get hurt again? And what if I'm not
• 1:00
  - ready?
• 1:02
  - Fear can keep us standing between a season
• 1:04
  - that has ended
• 1:05
  - and one we haven't entered
• 1:09
  - and to compile things
• 1:10
  - past pain can make future possibilities feel dangerous

  - And because of it, we aren't always
• 1:18
  - afraid of something new, but rather sometimes
• 1:21
  - we're afraid of experiencing something old again.

  - But courage doesn't require the absence of fear.
• 1:31
  - It just means fear doesn't get the final
• 1:33
  - vote.
• 1:35
  - And yes, we can always go to God
• 1:38
  - and acknowledge that we're afraid
• 1:41
  - and still have a little courage to be
• 1:44
  - willing to follow him anyway.

  - And sometimes,
• 1:48
  - that's enough for the next step.

  - That being said, let's pray.

  - Heavenly father,

  - you know what makes us afraid to begin

  - again.

  - Heal the places where past

  - experiences have shaped our expectations for the future.

  - Give us courage to move when you say

  - move and confidence that your presence goes with

  - us, and we will bless you in Jesus'

  - rather than asking whether you feel fearless,

  - perhaps a better question

  - can I trust God enough to take one

  - step? And sometimes
