Transcript
- 0:19Hello everybody and welcome back to the space news pod.
- 0:26My name is Will Walden. I am the host of the show today.
- 0:29Hey everybody, we're just doing a live one today.
- 0:32I thought it was a fun thing to do.
- 0:33It's Friday. Might as well have some fun,
- 0:34right? It's 311 2022 today.
- 0:39So there's some stuff going on with the International Space
- 0:42Station. And also Russia in also a NASA
- 0:46astronaut and this it's kind of sketchy but also we shouldn't
- 0:53worry too much okay. Because the International Space
- 0:57Station is always been one of those places where nations from
- 1:01you know from all over the place work together.
- 1:05They live together for months on end sometimes and usually
- 1:10everything works out pretty well.
- 1:12But There was some stuff lately. What's up, Logan?
- 1:15What's up, Michael recently, Russia has put out the feelers
- 1:22and said possibly they're going to crash the space station into
- 1:27the United States or other countries but not a to Russia
- 1:31and that was just a couple of days ago.
- 1:32We put that out And the consensus was they can't do it
- 1:39because SpaceX would kind of jump in there and solve that
- 1:42problem. So it's kind of a, it's kind of
- 1:46a weird situation right now, the International, Space Station
- 1:48because the tensions between Russia and the Ukraine.
- 1:50But the scientists the engineers on board the space station all
- 1:55seems to be okay with those people.
- 1:58The people that are actually in space they seem to be working
- 2:02together. Well they seem to be getting
- 2:04along. Longwell and it's the
- 2:07politicians down on the ground is the people on the ground that
- 2:10are threatening to one deorbit the space station and to leave
- 2:16an American astronaut on the International Space Station,
- 2:20when a soyuz wood or when a when a capsule would come back down
- 2:24to land on Earth. So there's an astronaut.
- 2:30It is it like and I'm laughing because it's so Preposterous.
- 2:33It's so. That somebody would say
- 2:36something like this, this is a place of Peace.
- 2:40You know, the International Space Station is a place of
- 2:42peace, right? And I find it kind of kind of
- 2:46silly for somebody to say that you know, Logan in chat log in
- 2:51the Archer says, how's Texas treating, you start by Studio B
- 2:55right now and I love this place. I'm about 25 miles away from
- 2:59Starbase SpaceX headquarters down here and I absolutely love
- 3:02going there knocking out Video photography, all that stuff down
- 3:07there. And I'm super pumped about that.
- 3:09I love it here. It's really cool.
- 3:13Han says Russia threatens to abandon astronaut SpaceX.
- 3:16Can just pick an astronaut up right in, theory, and Theory.
- 3:21Yeah, yeah, a lot of. Yeah, in theory, SpaceX could do
- 3:26that. Yeah, so it's it's a weird.
- 3:32It's a weird situation on the spit and the International Space
- 3:34Station right now but it's not too bad you know it is it's a
- 3:39politicians that are doing this. It's not the astronauts the
- 3:42astronauts aren't threatening each other it's the politicians
- 3:45Russian politicians that are doing this.
- 3:49Does Russia even have the overhead power to throw the ISS
- 3:51down Han says, I don't think so. Yeah, I don't think so.
- 3:57Yeah, it was a couple days ago when they said they could make a
- 4:02deorbit the space station because what they have now is
- 4:05they have the capability to keep the station at orbit, boost it
- 4:08up, put it in the right trajectory basically keep it up
- 4:11there. And if they d-doc all that
- 4:12stuff, it take all that stuff away.
- 4:15SpaceX would just swoop in, you know, like like superheroes
- 4:18basically the doc some in, there's a whole I have another
- 4:22video about that on the channel. That's a whole other thing but
- 4:26speaks this Come back in and fix it up.
- 4:29It'll be fine. Same thing with this, if they
- 4:32do, abandon an astronaut on the International Space Station,
- 4:35which is absurd, which is like, I'm just laughing because I'm
- 4:38thinking of how silly that is. How silly is that?
- 4:41That they would even say that? They would leave an astronaut on
- 4:44the space station is a threat. Like you know what, we're not
- 4:47going to do this anymore. We're done with you.
- 4:50U.s. we're going to leave your astronaut of the space station.
- 4:52Say it like that but I mean it's going to be Little bit of if
- 4:57they don't bring it back, it's going to be a little bit of a
- 4:59logistical headache. This show is brought to you by
- 5:02backblaze. I use back place to back up my
- 5:05podcast. My video files, all of my
- 5:08writing stuff, and all my photos.

- 5:23using the web app and you can access the files on your mobile.
- 5:26To iOS Android apps all covered. And this is the cool part.
- 5:29This is my favorite part. You can restore it by mail or
- 5:31hard drive will come to your house with all your data shipped
- 5:35to your door. I could come to your business to
- 5:37and you can restore return refund program so you can buy a
- 5:40hard drive restore, send the hard drive back within 30 days
- 5:44and get a full refund. So basically they ship you this
- 5:47hard drive and then you ship it back and you don't ever pay for
- 5:50it which is the perfect program for somebody who has huge files.
- 5:53You don't want to waste days and days, downloading GB and
- 5:57teraflops of data. And if you're worried about
- 5:59accidentally, deleting your files to bucks extra month, you
- 6:02can increase your retention history to one year, and I use
- 6:06it for all of my video. Files comes in super handy.
- 6:09So seven dollars plus two dollars nine dollars a month and

- 6:58Go there. Sign up I you with it it's
- 7:01really powerful and is really easy to use.
- 7:03So go to back plays.com / heel on backblaze.com Ilan
- 7:09backblaze.com Ilan. And people have to run around
- 7:15and, you know, figure out another way.
- 7:17But SpaceX has a falcon 9 and they have a crew dragon, and
- 7:21it's not that big of a deal. They have food, they have, they
- 7:24have all the supplies up there. They need to keep going.
- 7:27It just can be a minor inconvenience if they actually
- 7:30do this. So yeah, it's a pain more so
- 7:34than anything gets basic. Save him DJ yeah, I think so.
- 7:41Yeah, it's it's a it's a sticky situation.
- 7:45It's a weird situation, but I think they'll figure it out if
- 7:48that does actually happen. Jim, what's up?
- 7:51How you doing? Could dragons you super draco's
- 7:55and draco's to move the station Logan?
- 7:57I believe so, yeah, there's a huge threat on Twitter and I
- 8:00posted it up in the last video that just goes on and on and on,
- 8:04I forgot the with a thread name is, but it's a really long
- 8:08thread. So if you want to go back and
- 8:10look at it, The last video that I posted, it has Putin's face on
- 8:13the thumbnail so you'll see it but there's I go into a little
- 8:18bit more depth about it and then you can follow that thread and
- 8:21then go through there and they'll it shows you there's a
- 8:24whole list of 30 things that need to happen in order for it
- 8:29to have for all of it to work, but it's totally possible.
- 8:36Yeah, it's it's kind of funny like in a very serious way.
- 8:41It's just ridiculous what they're doing.
- 8:44Let me get a little bit more about this Mark vandehei, he's a
- 8:50NASA astronaut and supposedly in a few weeks.
- 8:54It's going to limit land of Kazakhstan with two other
- 8:57Russian cosmonauts and a Russian spacecraft.
- 9:00And I'm looking through some of this data right now, trying to
- 9:03figure out, you know, exactly what's going to be happening.
- 9:07So there's as we know there's two sections, there's a Russian
- 9:09section and United, it's United States orbital segment with the
- 9:15Run by us astronauts and Russian astronauts.
- 9:20And they work together. Very fine, most of the time but
- 9:25it's dangerous. You know what if what if you
- 9:29know there was enough food, what if there's not enough water?
- 9:32What if there's not enough oxygen on the ISS for this
- 9:36astronaut to come back? But there is so they're just
- 9:39kind of like poking at the bear sort of Like sort of and Mark
- 9:43vandehei is up there right now with other 10, other nine, other
- 9:46people. I believe it.
- 9:47I think that's how many people are in space right now.
- 9:49I believe it's ten other people so let me see if that's true.
- 9:54Want to make sure? That's right.
- 9:57I think there's 10 people. Yeah, there's 10 people in space
- 10:01right now here. Let's go through that actually
- 10:02real quick. I want to show you guys that
- 10:04there's 10 people in space right now.
- 10:06This is a website called how many people are in space, right?
- 10:08Now.com, very straightforward Commander, the spacers and tub.
- 10:15I'm not going to even say the name.
- 10:16I'm really bad at names. Mark vandehei Flight engineer
- 10:20then it goes to their Wiki page and then kill the baron Matthias
- 10:25Mauer Thomas Mara marshburn Raha Sherry Etc etc and Chinese
- 10:31astronauts as well. How did and 47 days in space?
- 10:34Could you imagine doing that 147 days in space?
- 10:40Mark vandehei 336 days? I think that's a new record for
- 10:45it. Sits close to a record.
- 10:46I'm not sure if it'll be a record when it comes down or if
- 10:48it's already a record but don't quote me on that because I not
- 10:53100% sure so so please don't quote me on that one.
- 10:57Yeah sometimes you know some They don't know everything.
- 11:00I'm just going to be honest with you guys.
- 11:01Sometimes they don't know everything.
- 11:05So right now there are some, you know, there's the tensions up
- 11:09there. And Russian cosmonauts us
- 11:15astronauts, Etc up there, working and living together.
- 11:18It's kind of like Camp. I've heard a lot of us,
- 11:22astronauts, kind of say that it's like you go out to summer
- 11:26camp, right? You have 100-plus days at summer
- 11:29camp, you know, you go for three months or something like that
- 11:32and you're away from home away from everything that you love
- 11:35away from your dog, your kids, your cat, you know, your your
- 11:39significant other, your home. And you have to like, kind of
- 11:42camp out in the International Space Station, so you have to
- 11:44work together in order for everything to make sense.
- 11:49So in about 20, 20 U.S kind of stopped using Russian Rockets,
- 11:56because SpaceX has a crew Dragon capsule.
- 11:59Now they have the Falcon 9 and they can get International Space
- 12:04Station astronauts from Earth to space pretty quickly.
- 12:09I've watched a watch, the flight, the crew to flight and
- 12:13it was absolutely marvelous. I thought it was great but the
- 12:19The thing is sometimes they don't come down in the same ship
- 12:23that they launched in and they might come down because they're
- 12:27their time overlaps or something like that.
- 12:29So come down with the other cosmonauts and Kazakhstan
- 12:34instead of coming back to the cape or somewhere around
- 12:37Florida. So Mark vandehei here we go.
- 12:41I got a little bit information, holds the ongoing record for
- 12:44longest space flight is set to end is 355 days.
- 12:48Days in space in about three weeks, plan is for him to land
- 12:53in Kazakhstan with two Russian cosmonauts on a Russian
- 12:56spacecraft. I think it's just posturing
- 12:59though. So I'll let me see what you guys
- 13:01think in the in the chat. Do you think it's just posture
- 13:04posturing where they're just kind of like beating their
- 13:06chests and saying we're going to leave your astronaut up there or
- 13:10do you think the really serious do you think they could actually
- 13:13do this and like get away with it?
- 13:14I don't think they could get away with it.
- 13:17It will degrade their space. so this is a reading this article
- 13:22from ABC seven New York, There's lot of sanctions going on right
- 13:27now and that's why Russia is trying to do this.
- 13:32They're trying to kind of push back for all the stuff that is
- 13:37happening to them. All the sanctions that are
- 13:39happening. They're kind of pushing back and
- 13:42Astronaut vandehei. It's kind of stuck in the middle
- 13:45of it. He is probably just like, wait
- 13:47what? You know like what are they
- 13:49talking about? This is leave me here, that's
- 13:50weird. So Joe Biden announced New
- 13:55sanctions, including cutting more than half of Russia's
- 13:58high-tech Imports and he said it will degrade their Aerospace
- 14:01industry including their space program so that on February 24th
- 14:06of 2022, so crazy, so crazy. This is actually happening you
- 14:11know that people are actually threatening this In Our
- 14:12Lifetime. Also take a second, please hit
- 14:16that subscribe button. We're going for an ID thousand
- 14:19subscribers which will be crazy if we actually get to that by
- 14:23June. Let's let's do it.
- 14:25To be fun and we're getting, we're getting close or about 400
- 14:29people away. So we're really close to 90,000,
- 14:32absolutely insane if you ask me. So, Dimitri we're goes and head
- 14:42of Russian space agency and is a close Ally of Vladimir.
- 14:47Putin basically said he threatened to leave vandehei
- 14:52behind in space and detach Russian segment of the space
- 14:56station all together, just poof, it's gone.
- 14:59How crazy is that? Like if you think about that
- 15:03that sounds like kind of unhinged.
- 15:07I don't know what you guys think about that.
- 15:10And there's a few other people that have chimed.
- 15:12In Scott, Kelly said, I was just in in Rage that he the
- 15:17cosmonauts said that they were going to leave an American crew
- 15:19member behind. I never thought I would ever
- 15:21hear something so outrageous. Yeah, how crazy it is very
- 15:25outrageous if you think about it, Hans been sub for really
- 15:29long time. Yeah, awesome.
- 15:31For a long time already. Very cool.
- 15:36Very cool. Oh yeah.
- 15:37We gotta we gotta we gotta get those subs up because I think
- 15:42I'll be really fun to have 100,000 Subs on the channel, but
- 15:45we're going about three years on that.
- 15:47Absolutely insane. And Scott Kelly said, I've known
- 15:52people at the Russian space agency, many of them for, well,
- 15:54over two decades, I trust them. I've lived literally trusted
- 15:58them with my life before. Who added that the US should
- 16:02still prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
- 16:05I agree with them. You know, something were to
- 16:06happen if they were to leave the astronaut on the International
- 16:08Space Station, they have to plan for it.
- 16:12They wouldn't just go. Oh they're not going to do it.
- 16:14And then the last second I'd be like oh we have to ship up more
- 16:17supplies for the guy. They're going to wait you're
- 16:20gonna wait it out there. Going to see what actually
- 16:21happens but also in the meantime they're going to get all the
- 16:25things in a row. We're going to get a flight
- 16:27ready for him. Get a capsule ready may be able
- 16:30to come down In another capsule. So we'll see what happens with
- 16:33that in the future but there's got to be there's got to be a
- 16:37plan in process right now. Happening to bring vandehei back
- 16:43to us soil. It's a crazy crazy thought
- 16:50actually and the the goal of the ISS is to explore and learn.
- 16:56Right? So exploring Orbiting Earth but
- 17:01also learning about deep space flight and also, you know,
- 17:05making a life multiplanetary to. So the things that they learned
- 17:09on the International Space Station, we can take to the Moon
- 17:12can take the Mars could take any place else in the solar system
- 17:15and that technology will move us forward and get us to other
- 17:19places. So the ISS is a very important
- 17:22tool for Humanity to move off of Earth and on to another planet,
- 17:27which would be really, really lean eat in the future.
- 17:31Scott Kelly said, I just hope people realize we want to keep
- 17:33this partnership together because it is one of the few
- 17:36things that unites all of humanity together.
- 17:38And that's true, I think one of the biggest success success of
- 17:42the International Space Station, is the international aspect of
- 17:44giving us something to work on together, that makes us friends.
- 17:47So, that's pretty much what happens on the ISS.
- 17:50Like I said before, it's like summer camp, go to summer camp,
- 17:54You're there for all summer, may be there for a month, I don't
- 17:57know, maybe there for a couple weeks but while you're there you
- 18:00don't have anybody that you're familiar with and you meet all
- 18:03these new people from all over the place.
- 18:05So I go into a whole new city or something like all these new
- 18:08people and you have to make friends with them or in the, you
- 18:12know, the space stations case, you're up there.
- 18:15Like you can you're going 17,500 miles an hour like you're
- 18:19flying, you're going so fast and it's so dangerous that you Have
- 18:24to make friends with these people or something bad might
- 18:26happen. So you got to make friends with
- 18:29them, and that's kind of what's been happening this whole time
- 18:31and there's other tensions that have happened in the past.
- 18:34I remember in 80s, you know, we have the space station or we
- 18:39have the space shuttle and we had all that stuff going on,
- 18:41remember the tensions at that point, but I don't remember.
- 18:46I was a little bit younger than pay too much attention to it at
- 18:49that point, but it seems something similar like that is
- 18:53happening. And It's cat.
- 18:54It seems like the blowing smoke, you know?
- 18:56If that's what you would like to call it, they're just kind of
- 19:00going. Yeah.
- 19:02Let's see what see what we can get away with.
- 19:04So you know we have we have a bunch of people in orbit right
- 19:10now. Here is Mark vandehei this is
- 19:12from the NASA website. Colonel US, Army retired, NASA
- 19:16astronaut. What's up Deb's?
- 19:17Mark. Vandehei was selected by NASA
- 19:19and 24. 2009 born in Virginia than raised New Jersey
- 19:23Minnesota. It's all over the place.
- 19:24This guy raises vandehei, read a Bachelor of Science, and physics
- 19:28from st. John's University and a master
- 19:30science and applied physics from Stanford smart, dude.
- 19:35He was commissioned in the US Army through ROTC program and
- 19:39served as a combat engineer became a professor of physics at
- 19:43the United States Military Academy at West Point.
- 19:46Very successful person outside of being an astronaut like this
- 19:50is like top-tier person right here.
- 19:52Vandehei is currently serving as flight.
- 19:53Engineer aboard, the International Space Station for
- 19:56exhibition, Expedition, 65 exhibition Expedition, 65.
- 20:02So left, his wife down here, him at his wife.
- 20:05Julia, the proud parents are two children.
- 20:06He enjoys exercise, backpacking water sports and reading pretty
- 20:11cool life parents, Thomason Mari Vanna, High reside, in
- 20:15Chanhassen, I don't know how to say that Chanhassen Minnesota
- 20:18somewhere in Minnesota very normal upbringing, but very
- 20:24Elegant person. Here's another shot of Mark,
- 20:28giving a talk speaks about us. I'm on board the International
- 20:31Space Station. During a presentation to
- 20:33students in 2018. Very interesting says guys a
- 20:39pretty cool dude. Seems pretty cool.
- 20:42So hopefully they figure all this stuff out and he's going to
- 20:46be okay and I think if it's not OK if they do leave them up
- 20:50there. SpaceX will step in and send a
- 20:56dragon for him, you know, as much as as much as I don't want
- 21:02this to happen. It's another reason why we have
- 21:05SpaceX around another reason why we're not buying rides from
- 21:08Russia anymore because they could literally.
- 21:11Like, if we didn't have a back-up plan, if we didn't have
- 21:13a lot of Muscovy didn't have space X.
- 21:15We didn't have a crew Dragon so I can nine.
- 21:19The guy would be stuck up there. You know, if that's the only way
- 21:23down is the Russian Russian ship, the guy would be stuck up
- 21:28there for a while until they figure it out, you know.
- 21:32I don't know how long you'd be up there.
- 21:34So yeah, it's a, it's a crazy crazy situation right now, but I
- 21:39think it's going to be all right, so just hang tight.
- 21:42I'm sure we're going to be all right.
- 21:44Now something very cool. Okay, so we have a little bit of
- 21:49SpaceX stuff going on too. Hey.
- 21:52What's up, Clark? Clark, tacular.
- 21:54That's such a, it's a, your name is so long now.
- 21:58Joy, I don't know if I should call you Joy or Clark.
- 22:01Tacular backyard Chronicles. Because either one's cool but
- 22:07clarky would be would be quicker.
- 22:11So we have with some space sections, just a little bit,
- 22:15little bit speculation here, nothing really big SpaceX, a
- 22:21Starbase and let's go over to the Starbase thing.
- 22:24This is this is from Starbase Texas.
- 22:25This is three. They have three ships there.
- 22:29Now, 16:15 and Franken ship, as We like to call it twenty one,
- 22:34twenty two, and then we have booster five, and then possibly
- 22:39soon, because booster 7 is being finished in the high Bay right
- 22:44now. Booster 7 may find its way to
- 22:48this area. So how cool would it be to have
- 22:51three rockets and two boosters right next to each other?
- 22:55That would be really, really intense.
- 22:58And I would love to be down there for that to happen.
- 23:00And I'm working on figuring out exactly where I can do this.
- 23:03So, part of that is because today's road closure better road
- 23:08closure for today. But it was cancelled, we had
- 23:11road closures for yesterday, was cancelled.
- 23:14The ones the day before were canceled the weather outside.
- 23:18I'm looking outside right now. I'm like a little bit little bit
- 23:23that too bad. Have done some stuff if they
- 23:25needed to. So might not be the whether it's
- 23:29a little bit chilly, but not too bad but he's road closures,
- 23:33Thursday and Friday canceled Monday.
- 23:35Still scheduled 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. secondary date for all this
- 23:38stuff in primary date, is Tuesday the 15th, the 16th and
- 23:4617th. They're all from 10 a.m. to 10
- 23:48p.m. So we have road closures pretty
- 23:53much all next week. And hopefully they get to do
- 23:57something with booster 7. They're probably going to move
- 24:03it out of the way, probably going to be without of the high
- 24:06Bay 2. To the Rocket Garden here, which
- 24:12would be really neat. So I think that's going to be
- 24:14happening next week. We'll see though, we'll see what
- 24:17they do. But they have to store it
- 24:19somewhere because they have to start building more boosters and
- 24:21more Rockets. And the only way to do that is
- 24:23to get them out of the way. So there's more room over here.
- 24:28I might go down tonight and see how much room there is over
- 24:30there, to be honest with you and see if there's anything in the
- 24:32way over there that they have to move.
- 24:34And then, if there is, I'll see if they see what kind of stuff
- 24:37they have to move out of the way, because there's a bunch
- 24:39Stuff over there, that just like a lot of, a lot of test stands,
- 24:43a lot of old debris, kind of stuff like, pipes and stuff.
- 24:47So, if there's enough room over by booster five, I'm trying to
- 24:50figure this a booster five up there all goes behind it.
- 24:55Okay, so booster 5 up there then maybe maybe they're going to
- 24:59move booster 7 over there. But another cool thing that
- 25:03happened is that booster this part I can't Really see.
- 25:10This can't really see this up here, but the big mess of Pipes
- 25:18behind booster for there, that's a cutie arm in part of that QD
- 25:22arm was removed yesterday. I believe it was yesterday or
- 25:25the day before. And I don't know what they're
- 25:29going to be doing because people were saying that they're going
- 25:33to be moving booster for off the pad recently and there was no
- 25:38reason to think otherwise because they were testing the
- 25:41lift arms. And there were testing the
- 25:43points where booster for was going to be moved.
- 25:47So not sure why they removed that piece of the QT arm.
- 25:51But I'm going to do a little bit of CCS I kind of like
- 25:55investigative reporting and figure it out.
- 25:57What's going on down there? Because we have to figure out
- 26:00what the heck is going on down there with Starship because we
- 26:04want them to stack it up again. I would love for them to stack
- 26:07up Starship again and it would be really amazing to see this
- 26:10thing stacked or if they're going to be moving ship, 20 off
- 26:13of there, out of that area and then move it to the Rocket
- 26:16Garden. I might be a thing to, if they
- 26:18have 12, our launch, or 12-hour road closures, they may be
- 26:22moving ship 20. And booster for out of there,
- 26:25moving booster 7 down. But they also have to remove all
- 26:29the engines. Okay, so this is, this is a
- 26:31tough thing. So if booster for and ship 20
- 26:35are done with testing, you have to remove everything from from
- 26:39ship 20 and from booster for and then put it on a new ship in a
- 26:43new booster or they're going to be doing a full wet dress
- 26:48rehearsal, which I think they're going to do.
- 26:49I think is a good, do a full wet dress, rehearsal of booster for
- 26:52and shipped 20 possibly next week and I think that's what
- 26:55they were waiting on for this week because all the road
- 26:57Posters for this week are done, they're all canceled.
- 27:00But maybe next week we're going to get all the days.
- 27:04They're going to be doing cryogenic tests and they will be
- 27:09doing stack possibly. So those are things that may be
- 27:13coming up in the next week. I don't want to speculate too
- 27:16much on it because we're not exactly sure what's going on
- 27:18down there right now? Because everything's been like
- 27:20so weird. So possibly if they get it back
- 27:24up enough to get the QT on fixed up and they have everything
- 27:27ready. Then.
- 27:28Yes. Possible or what else?
- 27:32Do we have here? We got.
- 27:35There is let me see here. Got to make sure I have all the
- 27:41information here but I do believe booster for is in
- 27:47testing. Yeah, and so it's, it's had a
- 27:49bunch of tests already. And I was want to make sure I
- 27:53have it, right? So I don't get you guys some
- 27:55wrong information in a double checks that double check this.
- 28:00So booster for the test campaign for booster.
- 28:05For they've done five cryogenic test for booster for and they've
- 28:09done for, I believe for Starship.
- 28:12So let's see for the ship on top for ship 20.
- 28:15Yeah. For cryogenic test for for for
- 28:17ship 20. And then 54 booster for, so
- 28:23they're almost neck and neck there.
- 28:24So if they do another cryo test for ship 20, they'll be even
- 28:27down five and five making sure that it's all even and then
- 28:31maybe stack into a full crowd Test, full wet dress eventually.
- 28:36I don't know, it's kind of up in the air because we don't know
- 28:39exactly what they're working. I would we don't know what's
- 28:41going on behind the scenes. We don't know what their test
- 28:43schedules like but that might happen next week at some point.
- 28:51So yeah, the it's a it's a it's all over the place down there
- 28:55and that's why I love it because it's so unpredictable.
- 28:58It's like our sports teams, right?
- 29:00Like so SpaceX is like our sports team down at Starbase.
- 29:04So that's why I love it, man. Launchpad.
- 29:12The lunch pad and nice what well ISS do.
- 29:16If Russia removes a propulsion stage then SpaceX will use what
- 29:25they called cargo dragons. The booster up.
- 29:29Yeah, so, so we'll see. We'll see what they do though.
- 29:32That's as much as I know, and as much as as much as anybody else
- 29:36kind of knows at this point and we kind of were kind of I think,
- 29:39at that point to what, what would happen?
- 29:42So, yeah, pretty cool. Pretty interesting to see what's
- 29:47happening on the ISS. Pretty cool was happening on,
- 29:51you know, well, not cool was happening on the ISS, but it's
- 29:55pretty neat to be part of this sort of news cycle to see what
- 30:01happens because this will set a precedent about what's going to
- 30:04be happening in the future. So that's about it for me today,
- 30:08guys. Do you have any questions or do
- 30:10you want to talk about any SpaceX stuff?
- 30:12Because I'm here for a little bit more, broadly about five
- 30:15more minutes and I can say thanks to everybody by the way
- 30:19and also check out Starship shirts.com, you probably seen it
- 30:22in the chat if you're in the chair right now Starship
- 30:24shirts.com if you're a space nerd or if you'd like SpaceX
- 30:28SpaceX inspired t-shirts, we have five or six designs up
- 30:33there right now we're working on more but it's safe, secure
- 30:36worldwide shipping. So check that out, Starship
- 30:40shirts.com. Those are, that's our merch
- 30:44store helps out the channel. Every every shirt purchased will
- 30:50allow me to a pay rent for this place and stay in Brownsville
- 30:55and be get down to Starbase more.
- 31:00So every shirt purchased, there you go.
- 31:02Or if you remember the team or if you're a member of the
- 31:05channel, make sure to, you know, A member of the channel helps
- 31:10out for trips down to Starbase and also Super Chat.
- 31:14Super sticker is stuff like that.
- 31:15Really helps out with trips down to Starbase to get more footage
- 31:19more films. So I could do more daily updates
- 31:22to the channel. They said, Elon Musk works on
- 31:26reboost or iess that he does not reveal everything.
- 31:28What do you think? Yeah, I think I think that's
- 31:31true. I think, I think he knows
- 31:33exactly how it would work. And won't tell all the details
- 31:38for sure. Any word on what is going on
- 31:42with the EPA, not really. I mean, they're still going
- 31:46through it. Let's see.
- 31:50I'm going to see if I can get in there real quick and see if
- 31:57they're see. How if there's any new news I
- 31:59haven't seen anything recently and I haven't had an update from
- 32:01them because I get email upgrade or updates and stuff.
- 32:05So when something does happen right here well we can take a
- 32:11look at it. Actually real quick if you want.
- 32:17Then they can take a look ski. See if I can position this
- 32:20properly. Oh, yeah, not bad.
- 32:22There we go. All right.
- 32:24See if we can position this and also look at it while we're
- 32:28doing this. But yeah, that's a that's a
- 32:30pretty important thing to. So, the EPA Basically it's an
- 32:36environmental review and permitting for SpaceX to launch
- 32:40Starship. So this is in progress, total
- 32:45duration, eight months, 22 days for the entire Endangered
- 32:48Species Act consultation. Today is up here.
- 32:52Extension date, two months. But by the end of this month,
- 32:55what is it? 17 days?
- 32:57We should have an answer from the FAA.
- 33:01So, we're about here. And the extension duration is
- 33:05for the environmental assessment, the full
- 33:07environmental assessment is till 327. 20 20 to 22 or complete.
- 33:12The Endangered Species Act consultation and the
- 33:15magnuson-stevens fishery cancer conservation and management act
- 33:19section 305 essential fish. Habitat consultation, whoo,
- 33:22that's a long one. Those are those two are
- 33:24complete. So we're at least two out of the
- 33:27way but we still have for, you know, to get done.
- 33:31So there's this little bit more to But I have a feeling either,
- 33:35they're going to push it back another month.
- 33:37Then we're going to go into June for a launch a Starship or
- 33:40SpaceX is just going to be like you know what we're good like we
- 33:45would love to launch from from Starbase.
- 33:47But you know what? We're going to move to Florida.
- 33:51I think that's what's going to happen.
- 33:52I don't think they're going to stay in Starbase forever because
- 33:55if this environmental things going to kind of take all summer
- 33:58long, but it's going to be like, whatever.
- 34:01We're just going to build our Rockets here.
- 34:02And then we're going to test Test them but we can't fly them
- 34:05here. So we're going to move all
- 34:07operations or most of the operations except for the real
- 34:10crazy like experimental stuff to Brownsville like Brownsville is
- 34:14going to be that place. And I think Florida and the Cape
- 34:17is going to be their main Hub in the future.
- 34:23Yeah. Kind of crazy.
- 34:27Kind of crazy if that's you know that's where they're at right
- 34:30now is that Brownsville and the Boca Chica area.
- 34:34It's they brought in so much money.
- 34:35So the thing is, I live here now I live here in Brownsville and I
- 34:42see new housing complexes popping up.
- 34:45I see apartment, buildings popping up.
- 34:47I see beautiful homes popping up and I've only been here like six
- 34:52months, you know, and six months goes by and I see all these
- 34:57Changes. I mean, Highway for has been
- 34:58repaved and it was just his junk driving down to Highway like
- 35:03through Highway for it. Down to SpaceX.
- 35:05It is garbage to garbage Road, it's cool.
- 35:10It's a beautiful view, beautiful area but man like driving down
- 35:16to SpaceX is just not that nice because there are some places
- 35:21literally in the middle of the road.
- 35:23There's a four foot wide by like two feet.
- 35:26A long just hole in the road, it's a huge, huge hole in the
- 35:31road and I've seen those things, get patched have seen them, get
- 35:34fixed and they're like, the electric company is down there
- 35:38or a contractor is down there and they're working on you know,
- 35:42they're working on things that are going to be sustaining
- 35:47Starbase in the future. You know, like a Starbase needs
- 35:49electricity, they need high-end electricity and you know, their
- 35:53SpaceX is employing, those people.
- 35:56The do that work so I can see where Brownsville be like please
- 36:00launch from here. Please keep this going because
- 36:04the only way that they're not going to keep going is because
- 36:06this environmental thing and they would they would ramp it up
- 36:10so high. If this environment I think goes
- 36:12through Ilan said it is talk that it looks like it's going to
- 36:15go through but he's not 100% sure because you never know you
- 36:20know you really never know what's going on.
- 36:22So He's skeptical, but also pretty positive about it.
- 36:27So I'm going to keep his keep his optimism and you know, can
- 36:32hopefully, they stay here. Hopefully, they really do
- 36:34because that would be really great for the, the people down
- 36:38here in Brownsville and the government.
- 36:40I mean, like they make a bunch of tax money from them.
- 36:44So this place the income of Brownsville isn't that much?
- 36:49You know it's not it's not the best place to live.
- 36:52But it's not the worst place to live.
- 36:53Are I work? I've lived for we way worse
- 36:56places and I kind of like it here.
- 36:58So, if SpaceX continues down this road continues down, this
- 37:03path of building up Starbase and they're going to continue
- 37:06building it. They might just not be able to
- 37:09launch here for a while, but if they can launch from Starbase
- 37:15with Shopify says, you can sell anywhere.
- 37:18I mean, it just got a new sale or to build and ship inventory
- 37:23levels. Good whoa-ho.

- 38:10free. 22, internet connection required not available on
- 38:13mountain. Tops are seafloors Florida.
- 38:15Strawberries to. I guess, you know, that would
- 38:19be. That'd be pretty interesting to
- 38:20see the dynamic. Change.
- 38:22Because if they have to move everything from here to there
- 38:25and like, put everything on pause at the end of this month
- 38:28because the environmental assessment isn't done.
- 38:32And I have to figure out another way to get this done, but it's
- 38:36going to move forward in Florida because they already have the
- 38:37resources. They already have environmental
- 38:41their environmental assessment went through over there.
- 38:43So all they have to do is basically move operations over
- 38:45there and they already know how to do it because they've done it
- 38:48here. So all they have to do is
- 38:50replicate the done here and this That's exactly what this place
- 38:53is for. This place is for building
- 38:56Pathfinders so they can move it to another place, which is
- 39:01Florida for now and then possibly another place in the
- 39:04future have a bunch of Starship launch areas so they can
- 39:08continue building thousands of starships and send people to
- 39:11Mars and Beyond and have a have a colony on Mars, which begin
- 39:16saying. So that's what they're doing.
- 39:18I mean like doing everything right there just waiting on
- 39:21this. Mental assessment and thank you.
- 39:23That was a great. Great question.
- 39:26Yeah, that's a Janet that's really great question because
- 39:29it's a big deal. If they don't get this done it's
- 39:32done, you know it's done here, they're just kind of moving it
- 39:35all the launches to to Florida. So yeah, it's kind of crazy.
- 39:42This adding if Russia quidditch all broomsticks can resumed
- 39:46relations problem is bun, they'll play well and Ice.
- 39:50Very cool. Yeah.
- 39:51The And stick thing was hilarious that was in the latest
- 39:55SpaceX launch was hilarious but unfortunately the I gotta go
- 40:01it's about 3:20 p.m. CST here.
- 40:05I want to say thank you to everybody who's been hanging out

- 40:53Take care everybody. Yeah, make sure to stay safe out
- 40:57there and I'll talk to you next time.

- 41:04that forever. Thanks Janet, thanks for

- 41:09Thanks, Eric, I appreciate all of you.
- 41:12Thanks Joy. Thanks Debs Jerry, Jerry says an
- 41:16opinion on the four billion dollar SLS.
- 41:18Launch cost way too much money. It's all I'm going to say way
- 41:23too much money. Pigs in Space.
- 41:31Nice. All right.
- 41:32Take care, everybody. I'll see you next time.
